Review and analyze now for company Reliant Plumbing and provide the analysis in the discussed format for the following reviews: '''Mack was very knowledgeable and helpful! He was quick to diagnose the situation and explained it well. Would recommend for sure.
My experience with Reliant Plumbing was incredibly disappointing and far from reliable. I hired Reliant Plumbing on October 9 to perform a gas test so Atmos could connect gas service to my property.
Forrest, the technician, arrived, and I paid for the inspection. I emphasized the need to handle the permit correctly since my property falls under Brushy Creek MUD (BCMUD), not the City of Austin.
To make it as easy as possible, I sent him a direct link to the BCMUD permit page with instructions on how to apply. Despite these clear instructions, Forrest initially informed me he had applied with the City of Austin.
Frustrated, I reminded him again that this was incorrect. He apologized for the "misinterpretation" and assured me that everything was now handled correctly with BCMUD.
Over the next few weeks, I called Reliant multiple times for updates. Each time, I was told, "We're waiting for a response after submitting the permit." This happened repeatedly, leaving me without hot water and still without clear answers.
Finally, I decided to reach out directly to BCMUD to verify the status of my permit. To my surprise, they informed me that no permit had been submitted at all.
I then called Reliant's manager, who reassured me that everything was "correct" and that they were simply waiting--another blatant misrepresentation of the situation. What's more frustrating is that, throughout this entire ordeal, not once did anyone at Reliant Plumbing apologize or take accountability for their repeated errors and misleading statements.
This lack of responsibility, coupled with the repeated miscommunication and delays, shows a profound lack of professionalism and integrity. Reliant Plumbing did not live up to its name, adding unnecessary stress to a simple process with repeated misinformation and failure to follow through.
If you're looking for a company that communicates openly and takes responsibility for its actions, I'd strongly recommend looking elsewhere. I was widely DISPLEASED with the service technician, Jacob, and the service provided by Reliant yesterday.
I had done research prior to the visit and knew what the issue was and roughly what the work would cost. The tech quoted a flange replacement at $900, that quote is over 4X what I had seen as a rough cost of this fix.
The other option was to replace my toilet and fix the flange. This was quoted at $2200, that is a roughly $1200 toilet.
Was it going to be made of GOLD??? Toilets cost approximately $300. I had told the tech that I wanted a quick and cheap fix as I was trying to sell my condo soon.
He ignored me and tried to take advantage. Jacob was smug condescending and a complete jerk.
He told me he "does nothing for less than $500, it's not worth it to him". I feel disgusted to have even called a company that hires people like this.
I wasted $89 and felt scammed. I have already called three other companies that have quoted the work at $165 - $255.
In addition to all this he did not provide or send a receipt for the service fee. Had Reliant come out to commercial property to provide bid to reroute water cutoff valve.
Bid amount was over for times what other two bids came it at. It was obvious they didn't have clue was required.
Also, they would not return phone call to discuss. Underwhelming experience.
A technician came out and acted as though he didn't want to install the provided faucet. I was quoted one price, then moments later he told me that he couldn't do it without significant repair and quoted another higher price.
The technician would have to reschedule. I asked if he could at least get the existing sink working, but without looking at it, he declined.
I opted out of any further work and the technician left. I left a review in the reply Reliant asked me to contact them, I did so and they had no idea who I was supposed to talk to or why.
Lots of wasted time from this place. DO NOT USE!! This company came out to assess for a leak and he quoted me over $3000 of work that needed to be done in the house.
When I asked him what the bare minimum was to fix the leak, he pointed to a toilet and showed me it was a specific toilet. When I started asking questions, he told me he, in fact did not turn off that toilet to test if that was the problem, which, in fact it was not.
I called to speak to a manager and I have yet to get a call four days later. Part of their quote " for reputation that matters most" They obviously don't care about their customers and just try to get money out of people! They actually made me spend even more money as he tightened all the toilet flap chains to where they wouldn't close, and the toilets were just draining I was in desperate need of service and Mack from Reliant came to my house late in the evening to help us address the issue.
Thank you, Mack! Tried to contact them for an installing of a sink...I purchased the sink..drop in...they quoted me 2300 for it at first...then miraculously went down to 1500...wow...needless to say I found another plumber to do it for 1/3 of the 1500 .....and he was awesome and knowledgeable This is the most crooked company I've ever come in contact with. I called them after searching on yelp to have a licensed plumber detect and fix a gas leak.
They showed up to my house with a technician on a a week night who spent 4 hours trying to detect the gas leak. He said he had never detected a gas leak and pressurized the gas line at 10 psi when my gas utility company said it should be at 4 ounces.
He said there was a drop in pressure but it's likely a leaking pipe in one of the walls. He said they would need sonar to detect it.
He was constantly on the phone with someone from his company all night trying to figure out what to do. After that time he charged me $1,115.93 for coming out although unable to detect the leak and nothing was fixed.
He then said he'd have a master plumber come out the following day. On Friday another guy came out who who was not a master plumber and was considering tearing out drywall to find the leak.
I asked him to do another test at the meter, and said the stove was leaking. After that he charged me $347.40 for 30 minutes.
So they charged me $1,462.00 to give me conflicting information. Once my gas utility company came out they said there was no leak in the walls and the stove was fine as well.
The gas company detected a leak at the hot water heater which was not indicated by anything Reliant Plumbing detected or fixed. This company is not BBB rated and definitely practices price gouging and dishonest business practices.
I called to speak to a manager and the receptionist refused to give me the managers name or number. I reviewed the master plumbers license they are working for named Jason Oliphant M-42389.
I reviewed the Texas State Board of Plumbers and he has been fined on February 17, 2023, for a violation. They claim "upfront pricing" and "no hidden costs" on their website, but that's a lie.
Max Skyler Hicks is the owner and definitely a conman because they charge ridiculous amounts for unqualified workers who rip off desperate people without even flinching. Oh, and Max Hicks has had 5 fines on his Master Plumbers license.
Alan showed up on time and gave me an estimate. He explained all the possibilities and told me about pros and cons.
Very professional. I contacted Reliant Plumbing the morning of Monday, May 6th.
In attempting to replace failing refrigerator it became evident that the cut off valve to the icemaker water flow was defective. I had the water turned off to prevent damage to my home.
Alan from Reliant came around noon. I assumed he was a plumber for he did not identify himself in any other manner.
He listened to my story and asked to look at my plumbing situation from the cut water cut off valve outside into my kitchen. He was obviously "inspecting" the current plumbing installation situation.
He then informed me that box would have to be replaced, which meant cutting into dry wall and potentially cutting the main pipe and installing other "fitting pieces". He pulled up an image of the box $116.
I informed him that this was 2-3x the cost of the same box I could purchase at a plumbing supply store or Amazon (ie. $17-32).
I told him that I would accept that cost. He then provided a non-detailed bid of $1160.00 for the job.
I told him that that cost was exorbitant, he said it was an estimate but asked me for a check to proceed with the job. He then said "we" would return in about 3-4 hours to complete the job.
It was only when the actual plumbers arrived, Roman and Joe, at 4:41 pm (documented on Ring) to perform the work did I realize that Alan was only a salesman and not a plumber. The task required 40 minutes (Ring documented).
I was very happy with the work that the plumbers did, and service they provided. I did research on the estimated cost of this plumbing job which on average was between $375-$600.
https://www.xhval.com/plumber-cost-to-replace-ball-valve/#:~:text=The%20last%20thing%20that%20affects,is%20between%20%24375%20and%20%24600. This was a very clean and simple task with no extra parts, etc.
I have had 16 communications with Reliant via phone and email in the last two weeks. Only once have I been able to communicate with a manager.
This manager listened to me, stated he would send a detailed invoice and call me in two days to discuss resolution. This never occurred in spite of me calling and requesting to be placed on the manager's schedule to discuss.
I was informed each time, "a manager has been notified and will call you in 48 hours". I have detailed my communication by dates and times from 5.8.24-5.23.24.
I can't say enough about RELIANT PLUMBING . they saved me from having a massive flood.
Several workers were buzzing around I wish I could remember all their names. Each was kind and efficient I do remember Roman though.
He installed a new toilet for me. it's 19" high.
I'm 69". Such a nice guy, smart too.
They replaced my water heater because it was not up to code. They also replaced my water softener.
NO MORE SALT! So happy about that. Roman installed it.
If I ever have another plumbing issue, I certainly will call Reliant Plumbing in Lakeway, TX. My toilet wouldn't stop running even after I tried to troubleshoot it myself.
Reliant was able to have someone come out the next day to see what's wrong. Mack arrived within the agreed time frame and was very friendly and professional.
He was helpful in giving me all the available options and helping me make an informed decision. Work was done efficiently and satisfactorily.
Very great work and would highly recommend. We had two water heaters go out just past the warranty with builder - Rheem said they would send the part, we needed to hire plumber - I called Reliant.
Evan J. came out and realized the part that Rheem sent - was in error.
He was very patient and helpful with getting the expediating delivery of part - and when realizing they sent a missing part - again he and Drew both had no problem coming to service for the third time. I appreciated their professionalism - will use Reliant again! I had a leaking bathroom sink that seemed like a minor fix.
I saw some good reviews for this company and my partner made us an appointment with same day service. The service fee was $89 and gets waived after you accept further work.
Ray Baker arrived as our technician. I showed him where the sink was leaking from and he explained that he thought the installation of the sink was bad, which I didn't necessarily disagree with.
During his diagnostic of the leak, he loosened another area of the sink. After his diagnosis, which only took one or two minutes, he went to another area of my house with my partner to provide her with a quote.
I stayed upstairs to assess whether or not the sink had been put together in a way where it'd be usable while we got together the money for the quote Ray was about to provide. I noticed the part he'd loosened was leaking and it hadn't previously leaked, so I went and asked if he could tighten it before he left.
Ray responded and said, "No." There was awkward silence and I politely asked again, but this time he agreed. I mentioned that I just wanted it tightened in good faith, so that the sink was somewhat usable while we got together the money to make the permanent fix.
I didn't think this was an unreasonable ask, considering we'd paid the $89 service fee that's not refundable. Once he started tightening the pipe on the sink, I again mentioned that I just wanted it tightened in good faith, to which he replied that he'd just get money from the next job and didn't need our business.
I didn't know how to respond, so I just didn't say anything. During my silence, I noticed Ray getting progressively more hostile and upset.
Unprovoked, he mentioned several times that the sink was broken and tightening it wouldn't fix anything, that we needed to pay the money for the quote to fix it. What confused me about this interaction is that I never once said I wouldn't want the permanent fix, nor did I deny the quote.
I won't be using this company again due to Ray Baker's behavior. Very prompt service and transparent pricing and quoting.
Mack came out and assesed the issue quickly and gave great service. Mack was phenomenal! He came out same day and fixed our disposal - he worked at it until he solved the issue and didn't have to replace anything.
He was polite, good humored and knowledgeable. Can't recommend him highly enough! Thanks Mack - you're the beast! Reliant is a bait-and-switch scam operation.
For a very minor repair, they came out, charged $90 for the "Service call" only to then proceed to give me a sales pitch on how I needed to "rebuild" every toilet and water heater in my house. Of course, that's not what I needed, nor why I called them out.
They never performed any service because the tech told me he could only fix the toilet by opening a "kit" costing over $500; which was including the $180 "membership fee". I passed.
Two days later I had a more typical and acceptable plumber experience. Standard Plumbing came out, fixed the two rusted washers in the toilet tank as well as related preventative items, charged me a more normal $175.
What recourse do i have with Reliant? I've reported them and will continue to alert people to Reliant's unseemly business practices. They advertise a lot, which probably gets them plenty of leads for their sales force ("plumbers") to peddle their "upgrades" and unnecessary work at your expense.
Beware!! Started having plumbing issues and called Reliant. Austin came out and took care of 3 issues.
Bathroom tub faucets handles both turned same way so you had to undo one to turn the shower on. Kitchen faucet started just dripping when turned on.
Sam came out convinced me that we should do a "repipe". He threw in 2 toilets at no extra cost as an incentive to proceed with the repiping.
Agreed to get it done to save money in the long run since this is an older home. Workers were polite and respectful but they left a mess all over my house from them cutting out sheetrock and going in and out of house.
Seems every worker was blaming person before them for any issues that were found. Inspector came out and it didn't pass.
Reliant came back out and fixed the issues. Again...
blaming the plumber before them. I had to press for them to come cover the line outside because it was going to freeze.
They came out took care of it. Had Reliant come out 2 more times after all this.
1. Bathroom sink was leaking.
2. Toilet was set correctly so it rocked when you sat on it and the bathroom faucet that was originally replaced and replaced during repiping was loose.
Again.... Plumbers blaming the plumber before them.
When they come out and start giving you quotes they ask you to give them a positive review so that they can give you whatever discount they tell you about. I am sorry but if I am going to give someone a good review...
i will do it because I feel the person did a great job not because I am asked to do so. Sorry Sam even though you are all having some competition for best reviews you should trust your work and customer service because I would have given you a great review on that alone.
Our pool heater wasn't working and the pool co informed us we needed a plumber to check the gas line. Reliant plumbing was able to get someone out less than 24 hours later.
Mack did some troubleshooting and we are working toward a solution to get things functioning again. Mack had also been our previously to install our tankless water heater; I appreciate that it was a tech we were familiar with!'''.
