Review and analyze now for company Pronto Heating and Air Conditioning and provide the analysis in the discussed format for the following reviews: '''Jon and the team did an awesome job of installing a heat pump and furnace for me. They are customer-service focused and thoroughly explain what they are doing and why at every step.
The new system is working great, and I will call then for any future heating & AC needs. Highly recommend! I called to inquire about pricing for recharging my central AC.
The people on the phone cannot provide any information about pricing! It's a $189 service call to come out and "only the technicians have access to the book that determines prices for services they decide you need." Obviously they don't know what I need until they look at it, but every other company I've called has been able to break down how prices are determined: $X base fee for the call + $Y per hour labor + $Z per pound of refrigerant. This company refuses until you're their hostage because you don't want to pay to have another company come out.
I think that's a scammy model! When you need a plumber, HVAC, or electrician to come, it really is tough to tell who is good or bad or taking you for a ride sometimes. When I moved into my house, the previous owner had Pronto install an entirely new central heating and air system, so I called them for service as we had a bunch of small issues right after we moved in.
I called them up, someone answered right away, took some notes and someone came a day or so later right when promised. The guy who came was very nice, answered all my idiotic questions and helped fix my problem.
He then pitched some service plans to me. Given I knew very little about furnaces, I jumped all over it.
He explained the basic plan would probably work best as it was inexpensive and covered 2 scheduled visits (spring - heat to AC) and in fall (AC to heat). No pressure in upselling or anything.
I have since had Pronto back a couple of times and the people they send are always fantastic and get the job done. No complaints at all.
I highly recommend them. They came out did installation of a hood range exhaust fan in ventilation for it I was told to buy my exhaust fan they will install it and get the venting to the old venting.
I asked him to come out to make sure it's venting properly because I feel like the exhaust Hood range was never moving the chemicals they told me no everything is fine. 9 months later finding out it wasn't properly installed I tried to call them and tell him what happened they're not responsible because they do not sell the part even though I was told to go buy one they will install it for me when they're there.
I did not appreciate with the two encounters with someone there and how they spoke to. I will not use them again nor other people I know I REALLY don't appreciate getting a call at 7am on Sunday over possible setting up a service appointment in the future...
If they thought it was in ANY way an emergency, the lady BEFORE when I called, the previous night, could have said for me to call some 24/7 service instead... NOT okay...
No business should call before 8, and on Sundays preferabbly 9... Been a long time happy customer, but not today.
We had a new furnace installed in Sept 2022. They didn't have a part for the heat exchanger and said they would have it shortly and be back to install it.
That was over 1 year ago. I call month to inquire about it and am told they will get back to me.
Last time I call they said they had lost track of the need for the part and would get back to me when they had a status. That was 2 months ago.
Definitely will not use them again, if they don't get additional money from you, you fall to the bottom of their list for importance. I left a complaint throughout their website's contact page, and the same scheduler that I wrote about is the one who responded to my complaint.
This is my 2nd service request for the same problem in a few days. My house is not heating.
When I called today saying the furnace isn't heating again, she asked if I checked the filter. I said they were just here a few days ago I assume they checked that.
She then said I never put in a request to check the filter on the last visit and asked me again if I checked the filter. To be clear, I also didn't tell them to check the vent pipes for leaf obstruction but the tech cleared those.
She continued talking over me telling me that it's not their fault a technician didn't check if the air filter was dirty. Then she asked if I checked the filter because that's always what they ask while repeating I didn't request the filter to be checked the 1st time they came.
I asked if it was that important why wouldn't the tech check it when he was here originally? She again read me the techs notes stating I never told them to check the filter. She said she's only the scheduler but she sure knew what was my fault.
So I drove to Pronto, bought a new filter, installed it, cycled the power, it heated for 1-minute and shutdown. No heat.
I then wrote my complaint as I noted above, and the person whom I complained about is the one who called me saying she got my "request". My request (as she called it) was regarding her attitude, so apparently she circular-filed what I wrote so that no one else would read it.
She again started reading the techs notes stating I never requested the filter was checked in their last visit. Seriously? So much for quality service.
I'm not buying anything new from them, so I am only high-margin, service revenue on their books. Too bad I prepaid for my AC service - I better think of all the things I need them to check so I don't look stupid again.
Last time I checked, there are a large number of Bryant HVAC service providers in the twin cities. I learned I can change my service provider right from the thermostat! My furnace wasn't working so I called pronto, they came and said the board had fried, so they went and got a replacement, probably a much more expensive one then I needed.
The repair person was nice, no issue with that but it was very expensive, 700 dollars. A month later furnace stop working again, the igniter stick broke.
Called Pronto, asking if it was possible something happened during the install that cause that, they said it would cost 150 bucks for them to send someone to see. Not worth it so just replaced the igniter stick myself no big deal.
It breaks again, igniter stick. I called Centerpoint to repair it this time, and they confirmed my hunch that pronto installed a control panel that was too high voltage for my igniter, and they told me pronto should have known or checked for that.
My advice, if you have CenterPoint just sign up for the Home service plan, my one appointment from pronto was enough to pay for 3 years of the CenterPoint coverage and it only caused me more headache. 700 dollars in repairs and 1 new igniter 80 dollars.
Unlike the big chains incentivized to sell you stuff, Pronto is a friendly, honest company oozing integrity. Born out a long family history, Pronto emerged as the third generation decided to do something different after the original family biz Segewick) was sold to the big corporate folks.
Despite their mildly cheesy TV commercials, this is a standup company with great employees. I've had them do tune ups and other work on my furnace and AC system and have never had a bad experience.
The latest technician to help me out was Logan, a friendly and efficient young guy who solved our furnace problem quickly and without any unnecessary upsells. Can't say enough about their work ethic, honesty and integrity.
Highly recommended I had Pronto out twice, had to pay the first time ($149 is an expensive trip charge though), but not the second time because the second visit was within weeks of the first visit and they had not fixed my problem. They told me they were going to try and find the replacement fan blower motor for our unit, and they would call me back within a day or two.
The second visit was back on Nov 3rd. I have called back 5+ times and I keep being told they will get right back to me, and days/weeks later I hear nothing.
The first visit was back on Oct 30th. They did not fix my original problem of my heat sometimes not coming on (the thermostat temp will be below the desired temp, but the heat just won't come on), and they apparently DO NOT CARE to continue fixing my problem or calling me back! Not so much as a status update....
Avoid! Update: I was able to get another HVAC company to come out (only $89 for their trip fee), and they fixed my problem. Turned out Pronto was wrong on what the problem was, among several other things they told me "weren't possible".
I have had terrible service from this company. They installed a heating and air conditioning system in a new construction home in 2015 and we have had many problems since.
With an air conditioner that was only five years old, they said they had to install new coils (which they charged me for) in 2020, and now we have the same problem again in 2021 and the air conditioning does not work. The made a service appointment, which we confirmed, and then they did not show up.
I would never recommend them to anyone. The salesperson is honest and answered all of our questions up front and took care of the rebates.
The installers were respectful of our home by wrapping plastic on carpet and caulked all holes for pipes well. Cleaned up after the job.
Highly recommend! Pronto charges a lot of $$ and doesn't solve your issues. Have had multiple people come out from Pronto and each one is telling us something different; and all seem to be trying to find new ways to nickel and dime you, just to have them come back and "fix" the next issue.
Stay away... but don't go to Uptown (now Hero), they are even worse about gouging the homeowner.
I have always found pronto to be very responsive. They've done a great job for me and my family for many years.
I'm very impressed that a person politely answerEd the phone after 8 pm and addressed my heating concerns. I feel taken care of And highly recommend.
Bought the works- was talked into an advanced and efficient AC and heat system around five years ago. The app never worked, the login didn't synch with our system, but things worked OK Scan ahead to this spring.
AC won't turn on. When they came out, they said that the system wouldn't work with Comcast.
Since half the area is on comcast, I wasn't exactly amazed when he said he'd switch the system without adding a charge. It never worked, so why is that a privilege? System was barely up a week or two before it's down again.
Our new app is sending emails and alarms and saying there is a thermal shutdown for four hours, call Pronto. They said they could send someone out next week if we pay for another diagnostic.
Color me no impressed with a company that I'd heard was cutting edge. My 18 yr old furnace started acting up at 3 a.m.
on New Years Day 2022. I was able to get service from Pronto by that afternoon.
The repair guy did a minor adjustment that he hoped would keep it running but said it needed replacement asap. He arranged their salesman to come to my home on Jan 2nd.
I learned there were 15! customers ahead of me waiting for the same condo size furnace. The salesman kept considering my condo's size & # of vents & conferred with a supplier.
I was eligible for a slightly larger furnace, which was installed on Jan 3rd!!! The installers were exceptional too. Careful and professional.
When they realized the control board was bad on the new furnace, they obtained a replacement from the supplier. Great service!! Great company!!!! Terrible service, I've had whistling every winter since their install and they will not fix it, because it is not cost effective for them! It's been at least 4 -5 years now That I sleep with whistling in my ears from the duct work! They are unreliable and do not stand by their work! My coworker knows the owner so when I was looking for HVAC professional, I decided to call them.
I wanted to get an estimate on my new condo because one bedroom was always way too colder while the other room was super warm. The pronto was very quick about getting me an appointment set up and a guy named John? I believe? came to see the system.
He looked everything and said because I have very old unit, he'd have to do some research in order to get an estimate. I said sure.
That was 5/2. A week later, I didn't hear any updates so I called them to see if they have forgotten about me.
John calls back and said he is still doing his research. A week passed, didn't hear anything.
Another week passed, still didn't hear anything. It has been almost a month now, and still I have not heard anything.
I don't care if you are still doing "research" but just keep me updated. That's all I need.
I am done waiting. I am calling them today to not even bother.
Had sales rep come to my house to provide a quote for new AC and furnace. I thought price was a bit high so I asked salesperson to let me have a day to review and sleep on it.
From that point on it was high pressure sales and don't take no for answer. Found a far better value elsewhere.
So make sure you insist on two quotes. I had a couple of minor concerns like the seal around vent pipes and some rust inside the cabinet from water that had leaked inside.
Pronto was responsive and sent a technician out right away. The technician took care of all the issues thoroughly.
He was positive, professional, and answered all of my questions (even taking pictures to explain what he did). He completed the work needed and left the area clean.
If you care about a company standing behind their work after the installation and following up through their warranty department, I highly recommend Pronto. Our furnace was not working this Friday morning when I got up, very chilly in the house, called the company that usually does this type of work for us and was told they could get out to us on Monday, that wasn't going to work so I called Pronto and they had a service tech at the house within two hours, Brandon was nice and professional and had the furnace up in running in no time flat or as they say in their commercials "flash fast" how's that for truth in advertising.
DISHONEST & DECEPTIVE This is a "where do you start" review. Pronto Heating was called out to my elderly father's home in September of this year when the furnace was failing to come on.
Their technician, Chris, reported to my father that the inducer motor was "seized" and that it would be an $814.00+ repair in addition to the $139.00 service call to "diagnose." He then went into a sales pitch recommending that the furnace be replaced since it was a model that was over 15 years old. This furnace is a rebuilt unit (originally manufactured in 1998) and had been installed 2 years earlier (2013) by a furnace contractor who had personally been working on furnaces since the 60's.
None of Pronto's "diagnosis" sounded correct to me. I had the original installer go to the house within hours of Pronto having been there.
Within a few minutes, he found a dead squirrel that had gotten into the fan and was keeping it from turning. Once the squirrel was removed, the motor and furnace functioned perfectly.
I contacted Pronto Heating and did not let them know about the squirrel but asked what had been done by their technician. Pronto repeatedly stated that the motor was "seized," "melted," and "unable to be repaired." They also stated that their technician physically attempted to turn the fan on the motor but was unable to do so because of the "seized" motor.
This was a blatant lie since had he even looked at the motor fan, he would have seen the dead squirrel stuck in it. I emailed the owner, Wade Sedgwick, numerous times asking for clarification as to what was done.
Each time, Wade hid behind his employees and refused to take any ownership of the issue. When pressed further as to what they were suggesting needed to be done, Pronto issued a refund for the $139.00 service call.
This was without knowing about the squirrel; however, it was apparent that they knew I was on to their furnace selling scam. Even the motor that they said was needed was grossly overpriced being that it was a part that retails for less than $200.
Most that I found were below $150 retail. Meaning they wanted over $600 for labor on a job that should take a DIYer no more than an hour.
I am sure this tactic is used to coerce homeowners into buying a completely new furnace from them. I finally sent an email to Wade Sedgwick advising him of the dead squirrel.
As expected, I received no reply. This is definitely not an honest repair company and their only objective is to sell new overpriced furnaces or deceive the customer into expensive unneeded repairs.
A complaint is being submitted to the Minnesota Attorney General's office. I had them come out to give me a quote on a new furnace and AC.
I ended up having them install both, and have been pleased with the equipment but disappointed and frustrated by the service. First, I gave them my phone number but never gave them permission to text me.
(Did you know that permission is required?) They texted me multiple times even after I asked them to stop. Twice.
Got a nice follow up call from someone who spent 20 minutes chattering away as part of an apology. Ok, I can live with that.
On the day of install, yes, they put booties on but not before walking around on my floors with their boots, so I needed to wash it. Then I was surprised when the AC was installed, as it was taller than my last unit (I knew that) but set far away from the house, so it's now the first thing you see from that bedroom window.
They could have warned me, maybe I would have picked another unit. They said it related to the city inspector wanting it x feet away from any wall.
(Again, I get that, but why wouldn't they tell me this before I bought it?) After install they sent me some paperwork indicating my rebates had been applied for, but I had no visibility to what rebates, only working off what they showed me on the estimate. Got a rebate check a few weeks later for 1/5th of what I had expected.
When I called they said it was because the AC rebate wouldn't come until the AC unit was fully charged. They never told me that.
She said that was in the paperwork they sent. I assure you, it was not.
Then they wanted to schedule the time for final inspection. I told them I would call them when I was ready, as my own calendar was not settled.
They called me again the following week to schedule. I said...AGAIN...I will call you when I'm ready to schedule.
OK. Got the inspection scheduled, and I failed inspection because they neglected to complete one thing on the furnace install.
Nothing major, not a functional problem, but now it requires a follow up appointment to have them come back and fix this. And guess what...they texted me to confirm the appointment.
(Back to paragraph one where I opted out of the texts I never gave them permission to send.) Funny how they never did any follow up survey with me to see how I felt about their service after I spent a ridiculous amount of money with them. Now I know why.
Severely disappointed with the customer service after so many good reviews have said otherwise. Good job calling right away, Emma, but...Our technician, Matt B, showed up almost 45 minutes after the scheduled two-hour window and did not acknowledge his tardiness.
Instead, the first thing out of his mouth was a crack about a football team. I understand trying to lighten the mood but as a professional you should know better.
You owed us an apology for being tardy and wasting our time. Secondly, when you and I were talking you acknowledged you didn't fix anything so charging $199 for removing an air filter is ridiculous.
Your knowledge and advice was useful, but your company should do a better job at pricing for the work completed. Until someone reaches out and provides an apology for the terrible customer service, we will not be calling Pronto for future work.
Also, Wade, you should watch how you react to customers online. I can see that the poor work culture starts at the top.
Unethical company, deceitful. Awful experience.
I had Pronto hired as I was about to close on house and wanted AC and Furnace inspected. I entrusted them as the experts and they gave all green flags with no heads up that I should be aware of an older unit.
After moving in (days later) I realize the AC is completely shot. Pronto sent a new technician, Keith, to examine again.
He didn't take his shoes off and quoted me up to $7000!! After speaking to manager, Jason, he told me they wouldn't want to say the system is in rough shape prior to a house sale, because the seller wouldn't have been happy and they'd risk "bad reviews". How about a review that your company is unethical and didn't disclose important information prior to the closing of a house just to please the current seller? Thanks to this company, I'm out thousands of dollars because I need to cover the replacement myself rather than negotiate with the seller.
This company is out to make a buck. After getting quotes from other companies, they charge half what Pronto wanted to charge.
I feel taken advantage of and don't recommend Pronto to anyone. We recently had pronto heating and air come to our home to fix a furnace that was out after returning home from vacation over the holidays.
Given the 15 degree temp - we were thrilled that they were able to come out that night. The man unfortunately could not fix it.
Each time he kept saying "this is going to be an expensive one" during his investigation (which in itself was a costly visit) - which I didn't love. I was not able to get a warranty on our new part that was over $1000 or an itemized receipt to see what was part vs service.
However I guess you pay for timeliness in Minnesota.... and we were thankful they came out so promptly! Terrible customer service.
The quotes they give are worth less than the paper they are written on. They recently backed out of a job because they wanted alot more money than the written quote they already gave.
They put us in a bad place because we needed the work done asap. Now it could be weeks before we get another contractor to get the job done.
Beware dont waste your time, or money with this company. They guy was rude and condescending.
Pronto has been incredibly speedy in responding every time I called them. In this latest instance, they were able to get out to me the next day when two other providers had quoted me a three-day wait.
Their dispatchers are very nice and helpful, and I really like that they text you the tech's name and picture before they arrive... helps when you are a single woman waiting at home! Sam was very polite, immediately covered his shoes without even asking, quickly resolved my furnace issue and didn't charge me for anything except the flat site visit.
Great experience! Bought a new AC unit to replace my dying system. I had already made my mind up after doing some research, and I wanted to work with a local company.
I have Home Service Plus, and they had no idea what they were doing. I paid to have Pronto come out and take a look, and found out the previous guy missed something obvious.
I knew the HSP guy was full of it given that my AC didn't work when he said everything was fine. Well worth the expense to have a professional diagnose something as complicated as an AC unit.
The sales guy came in to give me my options, and he was a straight shooter. He didn't try to high-pressure sell me at all.
Installation went smoothly. Pronto showed up early, had all of the items needed to complete the work, and everything worked as expected the first time.
Prices aren't the cheapest, but the process was smooth and I'm not sweating my ass off. I CAN NOT RECOMMEND, PRONTO HEATING & AIR, this Twin Cities MN Heating and Air Conditioning Company based on: 1) PRONTO Errors in their original install of an A/C unit 4 model levels lower than the model in my written and signed contract.
PRONTO came back and installed the correct, more efficient and more expensive A/C condenser unit at a later date. 2) PRONTO Error in electrical wiring that the City Inspectors verified.
3) Poor Customer Service in Spring of 2019 when attempting to get the Air Conditioning proper coolant charging completion done. It was too cool in the Fall of 2018 to get the proper A/C charge setup.
Like pulling teeth to get them to complete the installation, just completed in June of 2019. A) Make sure PRONTO will handle city permits.
City Permits are very important for the proper electrical and venting portions of a residential Heating and Air Conditioning System replacement. It's a critical safety issue.
PRONTO filed the permits, took 3 inspections by City in December of 2018 to approve PRONTO's work. PRONTO had not changed out the required circuit breakers.
New Furnace required 20 amp, house had 15. New A/C unit required a max 40 amp as it was much more efficient, house had 50 amp.
City inspector pulled up exact Furnace and A/C models by size that PRONTO had installed. PRONTO came back per their contract to switch out to the correct circuit breakers.
"All Electrical" was included in their written contract. Installers said they were unaware of BRYANT's updated specs for each unit requiring these rated amp breakers.
B) PRONTO Contract said all wiring to thermostats to be replaced. They tried to shortcut using original wiring to 1st floor thermostat, with a completely unfinished basement below exposing relatively simply original low voltage thermostat wire replacement per their contract.
They came back to replace, the day they came back at a later date to REPLACE the lower end central Air Conditioning unit they originally installed in error. C) Poor PRONTO Customer Service (Rude Jason A) 6 months after a complete Evolution System install.
(Heating/Air Conditioning, Air Cleaner, 3 zone system, wi-fi thermostat) D) PRONTO cancelled service appointment May 2019, had been set up 15 days prior, cancelled the day before, to complete the A/C portion of install that started in Fall 2018. 1 of the 2 owner brothers wrote me cancelling.
I'd asked PRONTO CUSTOMER SERVICE to have co owner GREG call me. That was15 days prior when they setup the appointment.
Wanted to make sure GREG was aware of the open, unfinished, unresolved matters from the Fall 2018 +$18,000 system install. Instead GREG writes me the day before the appointment telling me it needs to be rescheduled for their original Lead Installer to do the work as they'd promised as they setup the A/C install the fall before as best possible, but the temps then were too cold to get the proper coolant charge setup.
E) PRONTO Sales Person didn't wan't signatures on September 2018 contract. I laughed, told him we then would not be doing business.
I insisted on it. Sales rep called one of the owner brothers (GREG) from my home.
Greg told him to get it written on his tablet, print it out and come back. What were they thinking for a +$18,000,000 system install? F) PRONTO provided me a supplemental 15 year system warranty, parts and labor provided in Fall of 2018.
Get it in writing from PRONTO. It was missing from the original quote, prior to my signing.
This contract will have no value if this local HVAC company is no longer in business. It's "their independent business warranty", but make sure you get it in writing as I have.
G) PRONTO puts it in writing that they will handle ALL REBATES. PRONTO'S handling of the UTILITY REBATES also has a disconnect.
I had to stay on top of them for the 8 months to get the GAS COMPANY, ELECTRIC COMPANY and BRYANT SYSTEM rebates completed. For a good reason, UTILITY companies require the installer to provide specific models of each component of the heating, air conditioning units installed so that the SEER Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratings of the heating and air conditioning system get the honest and CORRECT utility rebates offered.
PRONTO had breakdown points in their clerical office staff responsible for these REBATE MATTERS. $1,550 in rebates on a +$18,000 contracted and paid purchase from PRONTO HEATING & AIR is darn important.
TODAY, JUNE OF 2019, LOCAL ELECTRIC UTILITY COMPANY TELLS ME THE FINAL REBATE DOCUMENTS HAVE BEEN HANDLED BY PRONTO, 9 MONTHS AFTER THE ORIGINAL INSTALL. I RECOMMEND YOU SEARCH OTHER TWIN CITIES HEATING AND AIR RESIDENTIAL OPTIONS.
DON'T BE FOOLED BY THEIR TV ADVERTISING AND HEAVY SOCIAL MEDIA EFFORT. GET THE FACTS, GET IT IN WRITING, IF YOU CHOOSE TO CONTRACT WITH PRONTO HEATING AND AIR CONDITIONING FOR A NEW SYSTEM, HOLD THEM ACCOUNTABLE TO WHAT'S IN YOUR WRITTEN CONTRACT.
OMG I can't believe I haven't yelped Pronto yet. I've been using Pronto for about 3 years now, and they are simply the best.
Quality people, courteous, seriously smart, on time, everything is really great. I've had about 4 or 5 service techs handle my service calls, and they have all done an amazing job.
You'd think I'd prefer one particular individual, but I don't care who shows up from Pronto, all of them all good. I know this review may make is sound like I work for Pronto, but believe me I don't.
I've just had such crap service from previous companies and I am just so so satisfied with this company. We needed a new water heater and Pronto was on time, efficient, and friendly.
Brandon got us set up right away for a new water heater. Jim came right on time (7am) the next morning.
He installed and cleaned up, and changed a light bulb for me. :) Super friendly, and I had no concerns leaving the house.
They locked up for me! Very expensive but glad to have hot water again! Pronto Heating & Air Conditioning was overpriced and has lousy customer service. I had them out to do a bid on replacing my air conditioner, and the price they gave me was almost twice what my other bids were.
When I tried to understand the difference in what they were offering, the technician became really gruff and seemed to be offended by my wanting to understand their quote. Needless to say after that experience they did not earn my business.
Additionally, I receive mailings from them once or twice a month. Since I am not interested in their services nor extra junk mail, I called them to remove myself from their mailing list.
In the past year, I have spoken with them at least 5 times to get my name off their mailing list, and each time they promise that they're taking me off. And yet the mailings continue.
If they can't even listen to and respect a potential customer, I can only imagine how disrespectful they are of actual customers once the check clears. Check out all of their filtered reviews, too--obviously the owner or an employee is trying to get positive reviews posted about them.
A desperate attempt by a dismal company. Avoid them at all costs.
The furnace tech Matt was clear, professional and showed understanding for me having to juggle a work call with his visit. He explained the issue, and took care of it efficiently.
I was happy to be listened to, and appreciate Pronto and their service. Lots of good things to say about pronto.
I like using different companies for tune ups to get a sense of who I like if anything major needed to get done. So I have only used them for this year's furnace tune up, and I like what I saw.
I was happy to get an appointment set up quickly, my tech arrived on time, and got right to work. The tune up was thorough and educational, with zero pressure to buy anything.
Even learned what is likely to need service soon so I was prepared to recognise the symptoms if it does start to act up (furnace I'd older but running great, do I need to pay attention). They charge 149 just to nothing but to tell you what needs to be done.
Additional 50 after hours. They then have a fixed fee no matter how minor the repair.
To pay 362 to have thermocouple i stalled is a complete and total rip off. It's 10 dollar part that takes 15 minutes to install.
They don't tell you this up front which makes matters worse. Furnace failure in MN in winter is certainly less than ideal.
Pronto was my second call and they were able to tend to my problem same day. Technician showed up in a timely fashion, completed the repair easily and even showed me how to address the issue if it comes up again in the future.
I felt like the pricing was a bit high, but the prompt service and professionalism eased that pain. Pricing was consistent with market rates, but it seemed like it would be a lot cheaper to order parts on our own.
We ended up going a different route than using Pronto. By ordering the water heater from the manufacturer and hiring a plumber to install it was less than half the quote Pronto gave us.
After having Pronto a furnace and air conditioner I was pleased that they had done a professional job. But then since I was out of town and they could install quickly I did not have time nor inclination to check prices.
On a service call for my air conditioner the service rep called to my attention that my water heater was leaking. I thanked him and asked for a quote for a new 75 gallon water heater.
I had the quote before he let. Since I had some time to check before getting the new water heater I decided to do some checking.
I checked with the company that installed the heater when the house was built and a friend recommended another plumbing company. the two estimated were essential 1/2 of the estimate that Pronto gave me for the same brand and size of heater.
Now I question if i paid way too much for the furnace and air conditioner. The morale of the story is get estimates from more than one company.
Good service and fair pricing check out Right Way Plumbing in Chaska So if you want to pay too much use Pronto. BTW their prices on furnace filters are over priced too.
Internet had SAME filter for about 60% of what Pronto charges. Came out for a routine preventative maintenance on my condenser, found a chattering contactor, wanted to charge me $700+ for a ~$30 part/ 1 hour install max.
I understand that they're in business to make money, but that kind of labor/material mark up is ridiculous. My best advice is to get another quote on any work proposed by Pronto.
My furnace acted up for long enough that it was time to consider replacing it. The sales rep who came to my house walked me thru what it would take to fix it and gave me options for getting a new one.
I chose to get a new one and they were able to come out the next day to install it. Installing took a few hours, the crew was very nice and respected my house by cleaning everything up when they left.
I just discovered that Pronto put a big adhesive label on the duct next to my furnace (they did not work on this duct). It looks like this was done to hide the name of the original installer and they also covered the service history by doing this.
I'm disturbed that this information is now gone and it seems very unprofessional to try and hide information like this. Because this seems unethical, I do NOT recommend Pronto.
I scheduled the furnace inspection that is mandated by the city of St. Louis Park for furnaces 20+ years.
I appreciate that they were able to get in there quickly as I needed to check it off to get my home on the market. Although I had it on my list to "replace in the next few years", I have had my furnace inspected annually and did not have concerns about the furnace needing imminent replacement.
The technician was 30 minutes late (outside of the 30 min window scheduled). He walked down, started to disassemble and almost IMMEDIATELY stated, "Just as I suspected...this model, this year has a known problem with the heat exchangers cracking.
You need a new furnace...won't pass inspection." 1) There are four options for performing the required inspection on the heat exchanger. He did none of those.
2) He had the year wrong (he stated 1997, which I knew wasn't right because that would make my furnace 19 years old and this inspection would not have been necessary). When I questioned the year he pointed to the S/N (5897) said 97 is the year.
It actually decodes to xYYM so furnace is an 89...an 8 year difference. 3) I scheduled a second opinion (not telling guy#2 of the previous visit).
He performed one of the tests, explained it to me, answered several other questions that I had regarding the process and signed off on the form with his contractor's #, as required by the City of SLP. Therefore, I have now had three inspections in less than a year...and this was the only person that raised "must replace now" concerns.
4) After a little discussion looking for more information that would help me understand, guy#1 shrugged his shoulders and proceeded to charge me for his time after not even performing the tests or any other pieces of the inspection. I am an Engineer and, while my experience might often lead me to believe something to be true or the root cause of my problem, it is general practice to follow up with due diligence in verifying assumptions/inklings to be truth.
I would have expected same from someone who has the safety a home and it's occupents, $4-7k for a furnace replacement and the ~$230k in home sale all in the equation. IN CONCLUSION: I called and explained my concerns with the interaction to someone at Pronto.
The gentleman was very patient and explained that he was understanding of both sides and offered to refund my money. I appreciate that but I think it could have been handled a lot better by the technician.
What I got was arrogance and indifference to my questions. I am not going to tear Pronto apart but I don't think I would recommend them.
No complaints. No high pressure sales-pitch for unnecessary services.
Tech was on-time and was very thorough with both their expected work and their explanations about the issues. Actually scheduled additional unrelated AC work after being so satisfied with their work on the furnace.
Can't speak for all of their techs, but Brandon was excellent and would definitely recommend to my friends and family. Overpriced! Called to have my furnace looked at.
Quoted me $139 just to come out and diagnose problem. Additional parts and labor would be charged in addition to the $139.
Metro Air in Prior Lake (rated 4.9 stars) was $129 and included the 1st hour of labor in the $129. There is a reason people are rating Pronto so low.
December 31st, a few years back.... -20 degrees outside...
our heater went out. The Pronto service rep came over and said he could get someone out on Jan 2nd....said the board was toast and no salvage ability for my heater, my wife and I would have to get space heaters for 48+ hours in a house that was already @ 47 degrees, and hope our three boys @ the time 2, 6, and 8 would stay warm.
I looked at him and asked three times if it was the "trip switch" as that happened a couple years ago and the fixed it by tapping it a couple times. I pointed to it, he took it out...
"No it's fine, it's the board that is the issue." He informed me it was the board and said..." There is no replacement part, your furnace is toast". Luckily I know a HVAC specialist and he just happened to be in our neighborhood that night.
He came over to our house (as he was at a new years party near our neighborhood) and within 10 minutes had the HVAC unit working. When I spoke to him, my HVAC guy said "If it's the board I have some that range from free on old components or $40 max that could get it working for you again, unless you want new OEM which might be $100+ install of $100) It was indeed the trip switch a couple dollar part he had for free (but $100) installation.
Luckily Pronto was nice enough after 3 calls, two emails, and finally threatening to call the BBB...they canceled the contract for a new HVAC...That contract was for a $11000 HVAC replacement versus the $100 falsely diagnosed easy fix my HVAC completed. I was patient and gracious and asked if I could have the CEO or VP of Sales call me back and they never did, I requested a meeting three times with them, and they declined and brushed me off.
IMO, they are crooks. But hey they sell the most Bryant in town, have the best marketing, and you know where all that money now comes from.
They are not HVAC specialists, they are SALES specialists lining their piddly little nest that will eventually fall from the tree. But hey look @ all their rewards = it's amazing what your money can buy when media accolades are cheap.
I write this a couple years later, as the memory of the cold and nonsensical responses from leadership paint a story of their ridiculous sales tactics... they make me laugh.
Feel free to email me @ faithbelieve7777@gmail.com for a referral or any questions you may have. We just had a great experience with a repair on our air conditioner!! The serviceman was polite and on time.
Our conditioner was fixed with the $149.00 service call. Saddened that it needed repair as it is only a few years old but glad it was a small problem that could be resolved.
They're not cheap but they are good. We've used them a few times over a couple of years and hand nothing but good experiences with them.
The $149 fee for the service call should be credited back if you elect to use them because it is a bit steep... The saga continues.
As of July 27, 2015, more than three months after my install, I still do not have my rebate from Xcel (Pronto didn't complete the form correctly TWICE) and I am still waiting for a phone call a week after I have called Pronto to remedy this situation. No accountability.
No ownership for their errors. Pronto would mess up a one car funeral! Had Pronto out to check out our unit after hours the other week when or AC wasn't working quite right.
Went with Pronto out of the 3 or so other HVAC companies I called because they could get their technician in the fastest and all were within same general price for an after hours service call. The technician, Sam, was super professional and helpful.
Will be requesting Sam from Pronto for any issues down the road. Can't provide much insight to the company as a whole, but can tell you their emergency service technicians are top notch.
Really helpful service. I had a last-minute need, and they were at my house in 2 hours.
(Though I still had to pay the full fee for the 10-minute visit to learn my gas was simply off.) So appreciative of the friendly help from Brian and the team. Thanks! We had a positive experience with Pronto.
The service technician arrived on time, and quickly diagnosed our problem. We moved into our house a year ago, but since Pronto kept accurate records, the technician was able to see that we were still under warranty even though it was through the previous owner, which came as a big relief to us.
He had to go back to the shop in order to get the part, which took a few hours, but he arrived back on the same day and completed the repair. I am a current customer of Pronto Heating & Cooling.
Just recently I've begun to regret using them on such a large investment - in our case, a dual zone A/C system that they installed. It's been installed for 4 months, we've barely had to use it this summer, and I'm currently waiting on what is approximately our 7th service service visit since installation.
I don't doubt the products Pronto sells. I don't doubt their business model.
I don't doubt their people. I don't even doubt their service.
Due to my experience with all the service visits, I do doubt their installation experience and/or ability to carry out a flawless installation. Every service visit has been for something different.
Every time I've had to take off work, or in today's case, alter weekend plans to be home for when they are here. It's been an inconvenience each time and is a painful reminder of how my money was probably not best spent.
The main thread during each past visit seems to be something overlooked or shortcut during installation. I write this review so others have a balanced view of past customers of Pronto Heating & Cooling.
I called them at 4:45pm today Good Friday, as a property I have had issues. Rang round a few places getting call out charges and was hit with some crazy numbers due to the time and fact it was now 'over time'...
Anyway, I decided to go with them based on reviews on other sites, I did not check Yelp at the time.... Lucky I did not as I may have avoided due to Chen P prior post.
The reason for the 5 stars is simply because they did not take advantage of a situation. I knew (thought I knew) the potential fault and cost for parts, but due to time and fact I was out of town could not fix it quickly for the tenant I had to use a 3rd party.
The tech called and said she was on her way at 7:45ish, I then spoke to her again as she was just leaving the property and she let me know the fix and cost.... Deep breath my end.
- expecting to be taken by another unethical service provider..... but NOT the case!! Pronto Fixed it for $20+ the standard call out fee, Terri (i think this is the spelling) explained there was a simple hose issue that needed blowing out.
I never met any folk from Pronto, only chatted on phone - I will see what my tenant thought and may update the review. Thanks a million, I will certainly use again for all my properties, happy to receive mailings and offers - that's good business, stay connected to your customers and keep up the retention and great service! Few years later ....
I now never use Pronto, got big and I have not had good experiences. I would give zero stars but you can't.
About a month and a half ago we had a part replaced on the furnace and it tuned up and checked out. We were moving out of the house to put it on the market and wanted to make sure the furnace stayed in working order.
Well, it didn't. The igniter on it crapped out causing the furnace to go off and pipes to freeze and burst.
We had to have walls busted into, washing machine to be replaced and not to mention potentially losing the buyer for our house due to all of this. When I called pronto to ask them what they can do for us cause I don't understand how after only a month and half something major craps out and now we have tons of damage.
They said they were not at all responsible for this cause a tune up isn't a lifetime guarantee. I said I understand that but it was a month and half ago.
So what is the guarantee then? I got no answer. I continued to press on it and wanted an explanation of what sort of a guarantee a tune up does give you.
No answer. So my assumption is that the guarantee is for like one day then.
The people Pronto has sent out have been kind and helpful but their head office assumes no responsibility for their work or any guarantee. I would move on and find someone else to do you work that will stand behind it.
Highly disappointed! I have had excellent experience with Pronto. About 5 years ago they installed a new furnace and AC in the house I was living.
I remember the install process being fast and efficient. During the ensuing time, I have converted the house to a rental property.
Two times the tenant has made a maintenance call to me and both times Pronto made prompt calls to the property and fixed the issue without further guidance from me. I would definitely use them again.
We had a number of problems with our old water heater and Pronto was the one installer out of a number of companies we contacted that could help us. They were able to provide fast and friendly service.
Travis was great at answering our questions and concerns. He did an awesome job installing.
I would definitely recommend Pronto. I've used pronto the past few years to check out my furnace/ air conditioner before heating/cooling season.
The units are 20+ years old, so hoping they last until we do a major house remodel this winter where the unit will be replaced. Last year the tech said the furnace was looking in decent shape for its age, but unfortunately this year the guy said the was a crack starting to develop in the heart exchanger.
Anyway, they seem to have done a reasonable job, and the price for the tune ups ($99) seemed in line with other companies. Pronto came to tune up my AC/furnace.
He was very nice and efficient. He explained that a fan was leaking oil and would need to be replaced soon.
He sent a detailed invoice with his notes and findings to my email before he left. I would highly recommend.
Thank you! Our experience with Pronto has been excellent. We had them out to bid on our furnace and A/C replacement along with three other companies.
While the products offered by many providers are very similar if not the same, we felt the financing and customer service was superior with Pronto. I also have never had such professional and polite technicians in for any service in the 15 years of home ownership.
We are very happy we chose Pronto We have had Pronto Heating out to our house several times since we moved into our home in August. They are always prompt, courteous, and provide excellent service.
They are very helpful in explaining the issue whether it is a necessary repair or simply a suggestion on how to manage the specific mechanics. I had Chris today, who was great in providing maintenace to the furnace.
I am a super fan and will always contact Pronto with my furnace and air conditioning needs. Thank you for great work Pronto! We recently had our furnace, ac and water heater replaced as well as had a water softener installed by Pronto.
The installation techs were very friendly and professional. The price was a bit higher than I thought it would be but the financing promotion was a big help.
Overall we are pleased with the results and look forward to testing the system out this winter. I had to call for an emergency next day help with air conditioner for a rental property.
They were prompt but expensive! they replaced 2 fuses and likely in the process broke the fuse holder as it was fine before they came to service it. I didn't notice the broken part till months later when I had an issue with the air conditioner again and noticed the broken plastic.
I was able to glue it back together and have not had a problem since. Hottest day of the year last saturday and the AC goes out.
I've called Pronto before- for a heat related issue that they solved immediately, so picked up the phone to call them again. Pretty sure we'd have to suffer through the heat til they could get there.
A friendly voice picked up the phone immediately, and then turned it to "when would be convenient for ME to have someone pay me a visit." They were there within hours. I sensed apprehension when they first looked at my furnace/unit thing (Obviously, i need help in the home maintanance department.
It's a filter thing, and they had their work cut out for them!) and he wasn't super optimistic, but boy, was he tenacious....and had my a/c back to full tilt in very little time. From the beginning to the end, i felt like i was dealing with a friend, and someone who was truly looking out for me.
Very highly recommend. Had a furnace checkup and "cleaning" by Pronto.
Can't really say I was happy with the service. The rep that came was super nice and pleasant.
Upon spending 15 minutes at the furnace he came with horror stories of in what bad shape our furnace was in and that we really needed to schedule an appointment to replace it. Furnace was workinf just fine before they arrived, but within an hour of the technician leaving, it wouldn't turn on.
I went down and took the panel off - which is why I say "cleaning" because the first thing I saw was cobwebs in the corner and tremendous filth on every accessible surface I could see...so there was no cleaning done. Ended up having to call our home warranty company as I could not get the furnace to turn on after the technician left.
Home warranty sent out a professional who diagnosed that our furnace was fine, found the issue and fixed it quickly. I have to say, I'm a bit suspicious of the timing and circumstances.
I would not use Pronto again based on my experience. I needed a service call due to a furnace malfunction, they needed to come out TWICE to rectify the issue thus far- Warranty work.
They office staff were pleasant to work with and technicians were polite. I just had my furnace and ac replaced.
It was a pleasure working with the people at Pronto Heating. The installation guys left our home more clean than it was when they started.
Very professional group. Highly recommend! I called mid day on a Thursday for a broken water heater and they were out to the house in a couple of hours.
The Technician re-arranged his day to come back on Friday to complete the replacement, They were professional, friendly and did a quality job. Bonus - they do not try to up sell you like Genz Ryan.
We just used Pronto for the first time, and will definitely be using them again. Our furnace stopped working on a 1 degree day, the Pronto tech came out and got the furnace running.
Unfortunately the tech did not have the necessary part on the truck to permanently correct the issue. He came back the next day, on his day off, and quickly installed the part.
Any company that has people who care enough to make sure customers are taken care of the way this Pronto tech did are 5 star. Based on our experience, I highly recommend Pronto.
This was my first experience with Pronto and I was very pleased. I was given a 2-hour window for service and their dispatch called to say the technician was running ahead of schedule and could they come slightly early, which was great! The technician, Jesse, was courteous and professional.
He was knowledgeable and shared each step of the process with me as he went. My furnace is a 'dinosaur' at 25 years old but I was very happy to have it back up and running and checked for safety in a couple of hours.
I had just recently received a $50 off coupon for repair in the mail which I was able to apply to the cost. The straight-forward pricing was nice to see in visual, chart-form.
This seemed to make things more standard, not like some experiences I've had with other companies where it sometimes seems that a service person is just "quoting numbers" once they see an issue. Thanks for the hassle-free repair!! Use them at your own risk.
I talked to Keith and asked him to go out to my house to give me a bid to replace 2 zone motors and a HVAC panel for one of my furnaces. I called him 4 times over 2 weeks and he never returned my phone call.
I then called the Owner and told him about my failure to get a response from Keith. He told me that he would contact him and have him get back to me right away.
Four hours later he called me and apologized for not getting back to me. He then proceeded to give me an estimate of $6600 to replace my entire zone system in my house, with new thermostats.
Meanwhile all I wanted him to do is give me an estimate to fix the items mentioned above. He told me that my zone panel was not made anymore and a new panel would not be compatible with the old system.
This was all complete BS. I called another local HVAC company and he replaced 5 thermostats, one a wi fi thermostat, 2 zone motors, a capacitor for my a/c unit and a zone panel for $485.00 labor and the parts at his cost which came to about $450 I had 4 different water heater installation companies come to my home to give me quotes for adding a second gas water heater in line with my existing water heater.
Pronto was rated #1 on Angie's List, so I was hopeful. Not only was Pronto on avg 20% more expensive than anyone else, they also included a subpar water heater in their quote (a 6 yr warranty heater vs 9-10 warranty heaters from everyone else).
I emailed the sales rep and explained they were higher priced and offered a lower quality product than everyone else, but I liked Pronto's reputation on Angie's List and asked if this was the lowest price they could do the work for and if they could upgrade the water heater to something comparable to their competitors. I got a quick email response from Mike, my sales rep, indicating he would be happy to earn my business and asked for copies of other quotes.
I scanned and emailed him the first one I had handy, but since I was leaving on a business trip, I didn't have time to locate the others right away and I looked forward to hearing from him when I got back a week later. I never heard him again (and it's been 4 weeks).
Suffice to say, Pronto did not earn my business, nor has my word of mouth been favorable for them. I'll be letting Angie's List know my experience as well.'''.
