Review and analyze now for company BelRed Heating, Cooling, Plumbing & Electrical and provide the analysis in the discussed format for the following reviews: '''Vent cleaning was part of my HVAC service and furnace replacement. I had to call them to schedule because no one was contacting me about it.
Guy who came out seemed kinda spacey. Offered to clean the dryer vent but didn't seem to know where it was- for some reason he thought it was next to the front door (it's in the back yard).
He left dust, dirt and drywall throughout the house. Didnt clean the actual registers, left them very dusty and dirty.
Unplugged many of my things and didn't plug them back in. Dumped the dog's water bowl over and just left it, water all over the floor.
Walked through the house with shoes on and I had to remind him to put shoe covers on. Ultimately couldn't clean dryer vent because he couldn't get to it.
Dragged his dirty machine and hoses all through my house despite the obvious request of no shoes, so clearly no outside equipment. Turned my heat off and switched it to cool the house and left it that way, so cold air was still blowing.
In general just not a very professional experience and definitely not what I was told was going to happen by the office when I called. All in all a disappointing experience.
BelRed has been our go to company for plumbing, HVAC, electrical for years. They have fair pricing and provide quality services.
Recently we had some water pipes replaced under the house by Noah a plumber. He did an excellent job and was very knowledgeable.
We also had our annual electrical inspection conducted by Ian M., he was thorough in his work and identified a crossed wire in an outlet and repaired it. We are extremely pleased with BelRed and feel confident in the work that is done.
Trust is more like it! Thank you! Raymond M. Insane labor prices.
$450+ to switch out a thermostat, that's not even including the price of the thermostat. Seattle is expensive, but not this expensive.
I suggest checking out some other places.. maybe because they're now under a larger company, prices are blown way out of proportion.
Ended up going with a different company that charged $150. Wasn't going to post this but they will text you multiple times to leave them reviews.
Also got a couple phone calls asking if I wanted to continue with the $450 job. Had a "technician" come out two days ago and they told me they could only run a pressure test that costs $800+ to find the problem because there is a leak.
His suggestions were: 1: spray something like fix a flat in there and seal whatever leak there is potentially. *wouldn't recommend doing that.
2: do a line test for around $800 and see where the leak in our pipes are or potentially the AC UNITS. If there is a leak could cost us $4k ( reset the lines) and hope our current unites would work but could go out in the next 3 months to a couple years.
3: Replace it all for about $11k with all services. It's old, so may as well replace it.
I asked him multiple times if we could test to see if the units were functional. He said we would have to run a pressure test to determine that.
Fast forward to techs coming out today to replace it all. They did a "bubble test" which should have been done by Gabe who did the first inspection and determined the connection wasn't tied down enough.
They said he should have done that when he came out and this would have been avoided. He put 14 oz of coolant in it and tightened it down, and it's fixed.
Gabe also told my wife he would be there two days later to fix this all, she put a deposit down of 5k and then we found out the appointment was a week later. We have an 8 month old baby, we would have found someone to come out sooner but Gabe from belred said Friday worked.
We called in, they eventually had someone come out today (Friday) and this all happened. Now we paid a 5k deposit, we can't get ahold of the office and when I called in, they said I would hear back today.
Their own technicians were surprised this all happened. The initial Guy who mentioned earlier just didn't even check the unit and charged us $60.
Their own technicians today said if he had opened up the unit, he would have seen that there was a leak due to it not being tightened down enough. Can someone call me back please? Technicians tightened down a bolt and filled my unit back up with coolant.
I paid you 5k and I keep getting a "I'll email the company, they will call you soon. NO CALL Terrible, scheduled during the promo offer from the radio with the service repr.
using promo on the furnace + discount on Heatpump maintenance. Set for a month wait, now a tech comes out and give another side story for a double charge.
I will Never call this company again. No need to schedule a svc maintenance where they said just to check to make sure it works...which we can tell if the system is or not.
I expected for more throughout and clean up maintenance. I called Belred to go to one of my rentals & troubleshoot & fix what I had figured was probably a simple short probably in an outlet.
Ian was sent & quickly found the outlet that was the problem, the charge was a lot more than I expected, I have paid less for far more electrical work. He explained that he had to drive 30 minutes to get there, so just know that if you hire Belred that they will be charging you for every little thing the minute they are dispatched.
I for one will never use Belred again, this company is a no go, way too expensive! We tried to turn our heat on only to find our furnace wasn't working! I called BelRed at 5pm and they were able to send someone out at 9am the next day. Andrew K was an amazing technician.
He quickly identified the problem and was able to get the furnace fixed and running in no time. He was very friendly and throughly explained everything that he did.
I am very thankful Andrew was able to help us get our heat back on! If I could give Sean Kelly at BelRed six stars I would! He helped us diagnose and solve multiple home heating problems in a complex situation. He was patient, thorough, competent and knowledgeable.
I have confidence going forward working with Sean and Bel Red to solve our HVAC, heating, plumbing and electrical needs going forward. Excellent service! We definitely recommend BelRed.
They installed our new furnace a year or so ago, and we're back today for vent cleaning. They were courteous, timely and efficient We are very pleased Daniel was incredible thorough and kind.
our air quality already feels loads better after the work he did! BelRed came out to do a repair on a buried lighting wire that had been damaged during a recent tree excavation. They arrived on time and the job was done smoothly, quickly and respectfully.
The work is protected by their guarantee. The visiting service technician was Thomas Kim and he did an excellent job assessing the problem from top to bottom, starting with the potentially easiest/cheapest problems in the inspection and working his way up to the more comprehensive fix that was needed.
He was extremely communicative about the different parts needed and provided an accurate estimate before any work began (which the service call dispatch fee was also applied towards). He did a great job locating the break and splicing in a new segment of wire while also replacing the photoelectric cell that had been damaged as well.
Afterwards, he clearly marked where the new wire was laid with spray paint on the dirt, which will be very helpful for any new garden planting in the area. He also gave me cost-saving recommendations on future lighting ideas I was considering.
Overall, my service experience with BelRed Electrical and Thomas was excellent and I would call them again for any work I needed done. Electrical home inspection performed by Oscar; on time and efficient.
Recommended improvements to bring kitchen and bathroom to code in older home. Do not use BelRed.
We purchased a new HVAC system with heat pump for our home in June 2024. They made countless mistakes installing it which led to them replacing the entire (new) system.
Since then when we use the heat pump to cool or heat the house there is a consistent vibration noise. In addition, the indoor furnace is incredibly loud at start up.
They have been out more times than I can count and in the end, I believe they made a huge mistake and should have told us they couldn't sell us a system. We do have a tricky install situation and the complexity of our home doesn't help the situation at all.
There team is nice enough, I've gotten to know about 10 of them now, but they do not have the skill to take on a completed job in a 1980's home. I do not recommend.
Things have really changed at Bel Red heating and air conditioning. They are no longer locally owned and run.
Instead they were bought by private equity ownership, Apex partners. Unfortunately many others were also sucked up into this unfortunate (for the customers) situation.
They seem to upsell expensive service I wasn't sure I really needed and they have been texting me to leave a review (at least 5 times) when my appt has not happened yet. I no longer trust that they have my best interests at heart.
Decide for yourself, but in my experience PE ownership is never good for anyone except the PE investors. Easy to set up an appointment "with Belred and I got a text from the service tech Brandon letting me know he was on his way.
I could even track his truck with approximate arrival times. Brandon explained clearly the service he was providing, serviced our furnace and heat pump and gave us the documentation and pictures showing me what he had done.
Very knowledgeable and professional. When I had a service contract question he called the company to get me an answer.
Belred comes through again. Thanks Brandon.
James and Oscar from BelRed did an amazing job on installation of EV wall charge in my house today. They are very professional and courteous.
I highly recommend them to anyone who needs some electrical work done! Thank you, James and Oscar! It is rare for me to give a review. But, I was suitably impressed to find Belred's Lawrence Brookover to be highly professional and a top-notch expert in HVAC.
His analytical sense is superb. Most important for me was his ability to clearly articulate in layman's language, the nuances of my system and what corresponding solutions would work best.
He will not waste your time. If you're reading this, find a different vendor.
My husband and I purchased a heating and cooling system from your organization in October 2023. We felt good about the purchase until we didn't.
The installation was supposed to have been a 2 day install, October 12th and 13th, a Thursday/Friday - but turned into multiple days, with no heat. On October 12th, we were left without heat.
The guys left with a portion of the work done at 8:20pm. I purchased them dinner and spent a good amount of money because I felt badly about the lateness of their day.
They came back on Friday to finish the project, or so we thought. On October 13th - when the install was complete, we learned that there's an entirely different "guy" who actually turns on the system and that that "guy" wasn't scheduled to turn it on on Friday the 13th.
In addition, we learned that no one works on the weekend. The installation team of 2 left the house and provided us with 3 portable heaters but no additional information about when the heat would be turned on.
I reached out to Miranda because we were two days into no heat had no idea when to expect it to be turned on. No response from Miranda on the 13th or 14th so I texted again on Sunday, October 15th because we were still without heat.
Now it's been 4 days. I didn't hear back from Miranda until Sunday, the 15th.
October 15th - received a text back from Miranda stating that we should have had heat back on Friday the 13th and she'd follow up. October 16th - I texted Miranda again at 6:21pm - we still didn't have heat and my husband had heard nothing from BelRed.
Miranda texted back and said that the startup was coordinated for October 17th. While the startup finally happened, we had no heat - with an 8 year old daughter in October, for 6 days.
Nothing but an apology via text from Miranda. Fast forward to current state.
My husband went under the house to look at the new system and found a massive gap in the connection which was heating up our crawl space and not our house. My husband had to temporarily fix the issue and call your technicians to come fix it because we couldn't have the city come out and inspect the system as it was not installed correctly.
What would have happened if he didn't go under the house? We would have spent a lot of unnecessary money with the promise from Miranda that this system was going to save us money. It was just a happenstance that my husband found the issue.
A tech came out and fixed it in January, I believe, but we were paying for heat that we didn't actually have coming into our house. We were finally able to coordinate the L&I inspector - no help from your team - to come inspect the system.
We were told that they system qualified for a $4000.00 rebate. I was told that it's our responsibility to fill out the paperwork and get it to PSE so that we could actually get the money.
Your team wasn't helpful in any way. I looked at the invoice to fill out the rebate form and the system that we purchased, according to what I saw, only qualifies for $2400.00 in rebate.
I've sent an email to the project coordinator Caleigh, after multiple phone calls to the office prior to emailing. I've received absolutely no follow up from the project coordinator.
In addition, I called today to find out how to contact a leader and was told that the receptionist didn't know who the leader is because there's been so much change over the last year. There's no one locally to help.
Here's the thing. Customer service will make or break a company.
My husband and I both come from the service industry and have high, yet realistic standards for customer service. Our experience has fallen well below any floor that we thought existed.
We'd like for a response from someone, anyone who will help us get the rebate that was promised to us. Gabriel was informative and courteous in diagnosing our heat pump.
During the heat wave, our heat pump produced very weak air flow, not able to maintain temperature. BelRed Heating managed the appointments efficiently.
When there was a cancellation of an appointment, they offered us to take advantage of the open slot, which we took gladly. Gabriel pointed out a problem in the filter system and like he suggested, the heat pump system was able to produce sufficient cold air flow after the fix.
I have been a customer of BelRed for a while. They are, I believe, on a rather pricey side, but they get the job done and not try too much to oversell something.
Had them over for an assessment of my condo HVAC. Gabriel was very effective.
Identified the problems and left with a request for future change out offer. Still waiting after one day.
All good. Was nice to get a complete and professional check on things.
My split AC stopped working and they sent out a technician. The technician seemed clueless because he said that "Split systems are smarter than traditional central air systems and it complicated to fix" He wanted to charge me $6000 for the repair or replace my system for $30000.
I found this ridiculous and started researching myself. The issue was my motors were blown and I had a fuse on the board that went bad.
I ordered the two motors for $300 each and a replacement fuse for 10 cents. After swapping the 2 motors and desoldering and resoldering the new one it has worked the like charm.
I find over $5000 in labor ridiculous. Please beware of their technicians trying to upcharge you a ridiculous price.
bel red heating and plumbing did the maintenance on a furnace which I had previously purchased from them. the cost for that was ballpark $280.
Durring the maintenance the technician let me know that the flame sensor was burned up pretty badly and I should get a new one. I approved it and he let me know it was going to be roughly another $280 for the part.
I ended up checking the cost of one on Amazon afterwords and was shocked at the up charge. I can get a freaking 4 pack for $6.
(https://a.co/d/0elLssI5). How the hell is a $1.50 part Not just included in maintenance? And how do you have the nerve to up charge this to $280? you were already here doing maintenance.
he already had to uninstall and reinstall the part and he had it here with him. Please make this right.
I got my furnace and my water heater from you guys and have recommended you in the past. you all Should be ashamed of this billing practice.
I'm ashamed I didn't do the research ahead of time because I trusted your integrity. Vaughn was great today.
He was thorough, courteous and professional. He arrived on time.
He left the work area clean and neat. His explanations of his work were clear and in layman terms.
Thanks After reading my one star review I was contacted on July 7 and told a technician had volunteered to help. Lawrence contacted me and came out to fix the new unit.
He found that during install the condensate pump had never been plugged in. The problem was easily resolved.
Lawrence's professionalism and customer service was excellent. If I were you, I'd avoid this company like the plague.
My husband reached out to them because we used Fox, which were bought by this company. Fox was great, this company is trash.
My scathing review isn't about work actually being done, which was fine, but rather the CLEAR mismanagement at upper levels that could have ruined my family financially. And yet, despite this debacle, I have yet to hear even a peep from anyone in charge of the company.
This company came out to clean our ducts. While doing the work, they noticed that our old furnace was cracked, we shouldn't use it, and had a sales person come out same day to sell us a new furnace.
Their sales person was really pushy, which normally is a huge ick for me when it comes to contractors, but it was right before Thanksgiving and we really needed a working furnace. Anyway, since it was literally a 2-day turnaround, we paid in full the day of *via check* for services.
The installers took a picture of them with the check, presumably of proof it was given. This was the day before Thanksgiving.
They weren't given all the parts, but they came the day after Thanksgiving to install the rest. 2 days later, we got an email saying that out balance was $0, and we thought that was that.
CUE to December 7th, we are out of town, and my husband gets a voicemail saying there were some issues with the payment amount. He calls back, office is closed, so he leaves a message.
He figured it was some misunderstanding about the 2 service calls, and probably not a big deal. The next day he gets in touch, around 1 pm, he's informed that BelRed was going to charge the full furnace amount, around $9000, on his credit card at 3 pm THAT DAY.
Not ONLY would this have destroyed our credit limits, but also, they had proof that they were in possession of the check and our account balance has been $0.00! So we were PANICKING because we had about 90 minutes to figure out WHAT was going on before getting charged. They check had not been cashed.
They had lost it "probably in a truck somewhere." What?! Who casually loses a $9000 check?! Anyway, excuses and run-arounds abound, the check was never found and I put a stop order on it. Everyone at the call center/office was very nice, and I appreciate that they deleted our card on file so they couldn't charge it, but who doesn't a) give written warning of a credit card charge, b) maybe give more than 24 hours grace period to figure out why payment hasn't been settled and c) do due diligence of who actually lost the money?! They almost ruined our credit over THEIR mistake! Anyway, the cherry on top was promising someone would come pick up the new check today promptly at 2 pm, and they were 40 minutes late without any communication.
If *I* had lost someone's $9000 check and then tried to scare them into a credit card charge because I didn't even bother to look into the payment history, I would have personally driven my butt over there and made sure everything went smoothly ON TIME. P.S.
Upper management, if you ever deign to reach out to even apologize for the extreme stress your company put us through, just let me know! Don't trust the diagnostic technician they will not give you all the details and diagnose the problem worse than needed, only to get the highest sale possible. I have had a horrible experience working with BelRed, and very disappointed with the ownership and lack of accountability.
At this point I have paid thousands in service I never received and still waiting for a call back for a refund to "make it right". All I can say is don't trust your the initial technician all they want is a sale, and won't give you the proper consultation needed.
I had a couple issues with BelRed that all started with the initial diagnostic technician. I would love that say more, but I'm highly disappointed and waiting for my money back ...
not worth your energy! They tried to fix my furnace three times. They sent a man out to fix it and none of them could do it.
Yet I was charged for their service calls three times and that was very expensive. I finally had to call Barrett Heating And Cooling and he fixed it right away.
Earlier this week we signed a contract with Bel Red to install a new furnace and heat pump in our home. Installation was scheduled for today, starting between 7-8 am.
I paid half up front via a check with the rest due upon completion. At 6:30 am we received a text that upon further review this would be a two day job instead of a one day job due to the duct work needed and as such the cost would be an additional $5,000.
Would I like to proceed? We had asked via email if all duct work was included in the quote and had been told the cost of duct work, all of it, was included. As a result, this very much felt like a bait and switch situation.
I spoke with Miranda, and recognizing she is simply the messenger was quite polite but firm in my displeasure. I requested my check be returned to me today, by noon.
I've received several texts from Miranda today that the person with the key to the safe where the check is held hasn't come in yet today. At this point I issued a stop payment on the check.
Miranda shared with me that they usually review the bids two days before installation but had been short staffed so it didn't happen until last night. My question is this, wouldn't it make more sense to review your bids for accuracy prior to sending out to the customer for signature? I made a commitment to Bel Red, but clearly they have no such commitment to their customers and do not stand by their word.
Though their estimate was a bit higher, they've been in business a long time and their in person estimators were thorough and lovely. It's clear the job can be done for the original estimate, they have just chosen not to honor their contract with us.
Avoid at all costs! Awesome service by tech Laurence very happy now The company has made good on there guarantee DO NOT USE THIS SERVICE. BelRed did a faulty furnace installation on my mother's home, an elderly woman, leading to heating failure, which then led to burst pipes, water damage, and significant mold issues.
Their electrician admitted to fault in their installation process, and since then the company has been unresponsive in following up, leaving a mess of damage and bills in their wake. We have called 8 times, repeatedly, in the last few weeks, with zero response.
This company does not care about your home. They do not care about the damage they cause.
They do not care about providing poor, faulty services. BelRed does not stand by their work, and disappeared as soon as their faulty service causes problems, especially ones that lead to significant home damage.
We scheduled regular maintenance. Steven came out he was very thorough, he found an issue and solved it quickly and efficiently.
Great customer service and follow through. Would highly recommended! I had signed up for a home maintenance program with them a while ago.
While the discount was nice, the actual program has been very poorly handled. I signed up but because it was put in incorrectly, my account was mixed with someone else, and despite me calling a few times to fix it, it persisted.
I thought it was fixed and then it happened again. I also tried to use the discount that comes with it and it did not go through right away due to the account issue, but it was eventually fixed.
Still, should not have happened. Then I had scheduled my electrical and plumbing inspections and both got cancelled at the last minute--plumbing cancelled because they were twoo busy.
Electrical was canceled due to the tech having a car accident and being out to recover. I have yet to reschedule because I am busy--but...having both appointments cancelled is a bad omen.
I was checking my credit card statements and realized I was being billed twice for the service--I called to inquire and their person told me to call my credit card company to fix it? My credit card company? I had charges of $33.09 and $33.05 --two separate charges on my bill for at least april and may--(now I should go back to see how many times they double billed me). But their solution was me to call my credit card company to handle it was a last straw.
I told them its their company on my bill, they need to fix it. Now waiting for a resoution.
But I think this is a sign NOT to stop using them. I will update if this is resolved.
But given the solution to them double billing me was to call my own credit card company, I don't have high hopes! Great service tech. Very personable, thorough and able to explain everything in layman terms.
Was very refreshing compared to experiences with other service related firms. Steve called ahead to let us know he was on the way and after arrival repaired the furnace in short order.
while performing the final check he found what appeared to be an unknown error code so he contacted his boss who confirmed it was an operational (fan) code, not an error. I appreciate the fact that he reached out to verify and that he is very congenial and ready to answer any concerns I may have.
Prices seem higher than others. They offer 0 percent for 60 months yet the prices seem higher.
Friendly staff better deals elsewhere. BelRed Heating, Cooling, Plumbing & Electrical were incompetent from the very first point of contact.
They couldn't manage their own schedule to come give us a quote. They gave us one time window while scheduling and texted us a different time the evening before.
They did not show up and when we called to find out why I had to talk to 4 different people, none of whom took ownership of their mistakes. One of them had the gall to offer the olive branch of not charging us a "dispatch fee".
Imagine that, charging a prospective customer a fee for having to call to tell them that their own personnel didn't show for the appointment. Avoid this company, and save yourself the hassle.
Our mini split was no longer providing cold air upstairs, technician Jacob was scheduled within a few days. He was prompt, courteous, friendly and skilled.
Problem was found (no refrigerant), repairs scheduled in a timely manner and problem resolved. Jacob explained each step of the process, likely cost for repairs, etc.
Very happy with results, would recommend. I do not recommend BelRed.
I had BelRed come out so I could obtain the second of my three bids to repair my AC. The tech immediately inspected my furnace (it was less than four years old) and told me I likely had a cracked heat exchanger that might be leaking carbon monoxide.
Scared the heck out of me. He then sent me a bid for a new heat pump to replace both my furnace and AC that totaled almost $20,000.
I subsequently was advised by the company that installed my furnace that heat exchangers virtually never crack and mine was just fine. The company that installed my furnace also told me that BelRed's quote for a new heat pump was inflated by at least $9,000.
BelRed also sent me a bid to fix just the AC that was almost twice the cost of my other AC repair bid. For all this, BelRed charged me $66 as a dispatch/troubleshooting fee.
Big waste of my money and time. Stay away from this company - use Allred or Seatown.
I was told by Cash, the tech that did my heat pump tune up, that I would not get "the full service" because it was my complimentary one year heat pump tune up despite paying $13,000 for my heat pump. After reaching out to the sales rep, Laura Karakash, she promised a more senior tech would call to schedule a full service.
After 2 weeks passed with no call, I emailed her to follow up. And I got an email back informing I was blocked by her.
Very poor customer service. I regret getting a heat pump with Belred.
Their services are also very pricey compared to competitors. They try to force you into buying a monthly membership plan.
Very sleezy. I will forfeit my warranties and have a different company service it yearly for an affordable price.
Life is too expensive to come up with another $350/yr for a heat pump service. Lawrence was beyond polite and helpful and explained everything clearly and understandable.
He was very professional and i really appreciated his solving and fixing the problem immediately. Excellent service.
It was pleasant and easy making an appointment on the phone. They were very pleasant and got a technician out quickly.
Our technician Sean was kind and completely checked everything. He is truly a professional.
He made recommendations for us. Thank you BelRed Heating and Plumbing! BelRed Technician misdiagnosed my A/C compressor issue.
Technician charged me $619 for a new Starter and couple of wires. It was at most an hour worth of work, and the A/C still didn't work.
It wasn't until I brought another A/C technician from another company that he noticed that a metal bar that slipped and was preventing the fan from spinning. The metal bar was clearly visible as you peer down into the A/R compressor.
He removed the bar and the A/C works fine. Work only took 5 minutes and he didn't charge me a fee.
BELRED Energy's misdiagnoses is the most egregious example of incompetence and overcharging a customer for a service that was never provided. Do NOT USE BELRED Heating.
I question the Company's values, and business practices. There are many more qualified HVAC / air condition repairman out there.
Good Luck! I do not recommend BelRed. We had an install of a new furnace and heat pump.
The install team damaged personal property and I'm still waiting for a manager to call me back and they did not calibrate the furnace properly so it's very loud and I'm trying to get them to come back to fix. Their customer service is horrible.
The managers Nick and Amanda were supposed to call me but still haven't. BelRed was bought by another company and customer service lacks.
I spent over $16k and don't seem to have their attention to resolve outstanding issues. Do not use them.
We had a big plumbing job over the Summer 2023 (August)- replacing a CPVC valve in the outdoor water outlet that was a threat to live electrical panels and installing a utility sink with an RO system in the garage to support a new aquarium. The work that was done was exceptionally high quality.
The plumbers were professional and answered our questions. And we have used our new sink at least weekly through the fall and early winter and sometimes more frequently than that.
It is wonderful. We can't imagine life without it now.
We have worked with BelRed for many years and have always been happy with the service. I worked with Joe Maly and Juan Sanchez for putting in split AC in 5 rooms at my home.
As part of the project, an opening was created which they promised would be fixed shortly. It's been 5 months and they don't respond to any emails.
Buyer beware. We had Daniel T.
fix our AC. He took his time to diagnose the issue and ordered the broken part.
There was some gap in the process to set up the second appointment but once it was sorted, he brought the new part and replaced it. He explained the problem and set expectations and approximate cost to fix it on the first appointment.
After replacing the part, he checked it thoroughly to make sure it was working. Mark O.
came out to do my annual plumbing inspection. He thoroughly inspected all of the plumbing in the house, and gave me some recommendations and tips regarding some issues he saw.
Mark was very professional and organized. I recommend Bel-Red Heating and Cooling.
About 6 years ago they replaced the original Rheem heat pump and furnace with a Lennox heat pump and furnace (the Rheem unit was a piece of crap, don't install Rheem). I have been very happy with the Lennox unit and Bel-Red in general.
The reviews are generally very good or very bad, which I always find curious. Having worked with Bel-Red on two projects -- recently on generator, and a little over a year ago a heat pump system/furnace system -- I can understand this apparent discrepancy.
I have found that the people who actually do the work are good, capable, efficient, and communicate well on-site, while the management communication seems to be lacking. Since I care much more about the actual work than the communications (and I have written them a letter -- without response -- expressing my concern with their internal communications) my rating of "4" is made up of "5" on actual results and "1" on management communication.
As to pricing, they are always on the higher end, but generally not too out of scale. Technician diagnosed the wrong problem, and bids were excessive! My furnace was not working, and thankfully BelRed sent a tech same-day to look at the furnace.
Alan was onsite for about an hour, diagnosed the issues as being a pressure switch issue and inducer motor failure. Bid to replace the parts was $1,643.90.
I also asked for a bid to just replace the furnace (approx. $13k).
Meanwhile, I was charged $146.00 for the service call. It wasn't sure about any of this and ended up having someone from PSE come out to look at the furnace.
The PSE tech, who had no skin in the game, said these were not at all failing parts, but that my heater exchange was the issue. He suggested I call someone else (which I did).
I called BedRed to ask for a refund on the $146.00 service call, knowing that the tech diagnosed the wrong issues, and had I paid to have them repair it, would have been out that money and still had issues. I was told that they would bring this up with the tech, but would not refund me the money.
Beware of working with this company. Their bids seem predatory.
(I ended up replacing the furnace through another company for approx. $5k) Jeremy Perro from Fox Plumbing, working through BelRed Energy, installed a water pressure regulator and new ball shut off for a home we own in Issaquah, WA.
We live in Vancouver, WA and my only interaction with Jeremy was over the phone and by text. I have a very positive feeling with Jeremy in the way he communicated with me, explained what was needed regarding the repair/replacement, and that he takes pride in his workmanship.
Jeremy did a first rate job and was very conscientious and professional in keeping me informed of what was needed and his opinion as how to proceed. The water pressure regulator was something Jeremy said was needed to reduce the city water pressure of over 90 psi to a safe level of 60-65 psi.
The photos he sent me of the before and after repairs speaks volumes. It is nice to work with a skilled plumber who know his trade, honest, and customer focused.
I was a member of BelRed and had two maintenance visits. The summer and winter.
After the winter visit, I noticed my heat not working very well. I called them back out to check the system and the tech said everything was ok.
He said my alt heat temp was set low and that he could adjust it for $295-300. I thought that odd as the prior tech was the one that changed it.
After calling around, I learned that I could make this setting in my Nest app. They were going to charge me ~$300 for something I could adjust with a slider on my phone.
My heating didn't improve so I had another company come out to do a check. They eventually found that the system was leaking refrigerant from the valve.
The fix just to replace the refrigerant was $1,200. I called Belred to see if we could work something out since their techs were the ones that serviced the unit and I have yet to hear from a manager even after being told they would reach out.
The true test of a company is when you have problems. This company has failed miserably in my opinion and wouldn't even pick up the phone to talk about the issue.
I would never recommend this company again. Also, they purchased Fox Plumbing and Heating so they are the same.
I had a pretty expensive HVAC upgrade in our house (think $10k+) and can only say good things about BelRed. Here is why: - They listened to my concerns, every single one of them.
My furnace is located in a tricky spot in the garage. New furnaces got bigger, so it was going to eat up even more space.
They managed to keep the same footprint. Great.
- Fit and finish of the installation is great. - They originally quoted a Daikin (top of the line) system for $X dollars and we decided to move forward with that.
Last minute, they let me know they ran out of that and to avoid missing the installation deadline, they offered me a similar (but better) spec'd Trane system. I was pleasantly surprised with the system.
It's good. - We originally had scheduled to install on 5/20.
But a heatwave was coming, so I asked if they could pull forward the schedule by a few days. They did it.
I couldn't ask for more. Very professional and listen to your concerns.
This is a tough review to write because the people I interacted with were both professional, timely and friendly. I wanted to get an AC maintenance service done, so I called BelRed and spoke with a friendly CSR named Matt.
He was able to schedule me for a service a few days later and quoted me $147 if I signed up for their preferred membership at $29 a month. And the membership would also provide me with a both AC and Furnace tune up yearly.
Seemed like a good deal. The service tech showed up on time and was friendly.
I don't want put his name on blast because I feel he was probably just doing what the company expected of him, and that was to upsell me on a bunch of additional services that I "needed" with a high markup. He initially quoted me four additional services to keep my AC in good order that added up to $2000.
I was a bit taken aback, but I did agree to two of those services that he prioritized for me. It was my fault for succumbing to the sales pressure.
I took look at the parts that were needed for the two additional services he performed (Boost Juice and the hard start part) and was shocked you could buy them for about $100, and he spent about 30 minutes of labor. So the hard start install and running the oil maintenance which all in was almost $1000, something that probably should have run $400 max with parts and labor included.
I'm completely fine with paying a fair rate for his time and labor but this simply put was highway robbery. I asked him why both of the services he performed were so expensive for something that wasn't either labor intensive or needed expensive parts.
To his credit he gave me a honest answer of "I don't have a good answer for you". After he left I was curious and I checked with some other HVAC companies and they explained I was both overcharged and probably talked into services my 6 year old AC did not need.
Bottom line, good people but beware of predatory pricing and sales pressure for things you may or may not need. Great experience with Steven Mendoza servicing our mini-split system.
He diagnosed the issue quickly, came up with a solution, and completed the repair in short order. Very professional service.
We would ask for Steven again in the future. Air Conditioning Install Do not under any circumstances work with BelRed Heating, Cooling, Plumbing & Electrical.
They are a predatory group that practices bait and switch tactics. When I originally reached out to Fox Plumbing (which was purchased by some form of private equity that also owns BelRed), a salesperson came to my house asked some questions and then provided a quote.
The estimate was extremely high -- $15,500 to replace an existing air conditioning unit. And the overall cost estimate was provided as a single line item without any breakdown of cost for time and/or materials.
I called the estimator and said that I'd like to see a breakdown and asked if the price estimate was a fixed price bid. He stated: "It is time and materials not to exceed" and that he could and would provide me a breakdown, but offered that they could perform the work the very next day if I just signed the existing paperwork (as a quick temporary solution) within the next 20 minutes (before 5:00p).
I said, that I thought the estimate was high, but if it was time and materials, then I would proceed with Fox Plumbing / BelRed. I would not have proceeded with them if I had believed that the estimate was a fixed price bid.
Two HVAC technicians arrived the next day and completed the work in 4.5 hours (9 man hours). A group of three electricians arrived that evening and completed some electrical changes for the new unit in 45 minutes (2.25 man hours).
At the end of the initial install the lead HVAC technician asked for payment. I handed him a credit card but asked for a detailed invoice of actual charges -- consistent with the salesperson's assurances that this was a time and materials not to exceed estimate.
The technician called the salesperson and spoke with him for several minutes. The technician then handed me my card back, refused to take payment, and said that the sales person would be calling me to work our the details.
The lead HVAC technician returned 5 days later to commission and start up the unit. At the end of the commissioning, the HVAC tech asked if the salesperson had called me yet.
I said no. He again refused to take my credit card and said that the salesperson would be calling me to clarify.
Six days later I received a call from a BelRed collector asking for payment. I asked for the final invoice.
He sent me the original estimate. I explained the situation, and the person said that he would speak with the salesperson and his manager and that somebody would give me a call.
This started a 4 month cycle of BelRed calling me and asking for payment on their original estimate. Each and every time I spoke with a person I would explain the situation and ask for the final invoice.
Each and every time I would be told that either the original salesperson, the salesperson's manager, or the manager of the manager would give me a call. They never did.
I started calling and asking for the specific manager and manager's manager. They were never available when I called, even though I typically waited 15 minutes or more on the phone to speak with them.
I would speak with a customer service agent, they would tell me that somebody would call. Nobody ever did.
Each time a new person called, I had to start from scratch and explain the history all over again. BelRed started sending me threatening emails, text messages, and left threatening phone messages.
I called them on seven different occasions explaining the situation to 7 different people -- in all cases the person that I spoke with indicated that the sales person or a manager would give me a call to discuss the matter. That never happened.
Ultimately, they sent a letter threatening to take legal action if I did not pay the original estimate in full. Today (4 months later and hours of my effort later) I paid them the ridiculous original estimate.
To put it into perspective, they effectively charged more than $500 / hour for HVAC technicians and electricians for a simple air conditioning install. I thought about hiring an attorney to deal with them, but ultimately decided to pay their ridiculous number to stop the annoyance.
BelRed is a predatory organization. They lie, they employ bait and switch tactics, and they use artificial time limits to get you to sign-up for services.
Once the work is done they will not interact with a client to discuss a legitimate concern. DO NOT hire this firm.
Thank you BelRed for the service you provided with having Hayden consult us on our heating and air conditioning needs. He has been very exceptional with being responsive to my questions and knowledgeable for recommending the right heat pump and logistics that went into the planning and installation.
I had some anxieties because it was a major purchase money wise for me. Hayden was very understanding and patient with me for the many questions I had for the heat pump install and electrical panel.
Best of all, he was very responsive and replied back to me in a good and timely manner. Thomas also was great in assessing my Electrical panel needs as well.
Marshall, Chase, Joel, and Gavino were all great doing the electrical panel work and heat pump install. They kept me informed of any difficulties that occurred and kept the work area clean.
Eric was also splendid when completing the activation of the heat pump the next day after the install. He did a solid job explaining how the heat pump works and how to work the thermostat.
Additionally, Hayden still continues to do a great job on answering my post-install questions. Bel-Red was my 5th quote out of the 6th quotes I received.
I'm glad that I got your referral from a family member and didn't stop on my 3rd quote. I would also recommend Bel-Red Energy to others who will ask me who they should go to for HVAC services.
I'd especially tell them to ask for Hayden! Thanks again BelRed for the great service! They were professional and thorough and they always had the safety of our family and their crew in mind as the project progressed for our replacement gas furnace and new heat pump system. They suggested a few optional modifications, which I opted not to go with, and they were never pushy about it.
They simply stuck to the original bid specifications and completed the project to our great satisfaction. We couldn't be happier with our decision.
They do it all under one umbrella so you don't have the issues of trying to coordinate different subcontractors for different parts of the job, including the electrical. I'm of the mind that you just have to plan that there will be problems with almost anything you do nowadays.
The question becomes how does a company work through these problems and what is the end result. In our case BelRed came through with a great product.
Jordan was extremely professional, organized and thorough with the entire heat pump/furnace installation process. We are 100% satisfied with Jordan, his crew and Bel- Red in general.
We recommend them highly. First Thing's First.....
Kyle Giddens is a top of the line Technitian. He arrived with a great attitude listened to my concerns...
Jumped right in to solving my issues with the NEW Heat Pump and had the problem taken care fast and efficiently. Along with his professional and good natured personality it made for a good outcome of a frustrating situation.
Kyle Is a good Representation of BelRed Heating I am thoroughly frustrated by the consistently unreliable customer service provided by BelRed Energy Solutions. Last year, we invested over $30,000 in upgrading our heating and cooling system, during which they left a substantial hole in the wall.
Despite their promise to return and rectify the situation, they have failed to follow through. We have made 4 to 5 phone calls reminding them of the outstanding work, yet nearly a year has passed with nothing but empty assurances that someone will contact us promptly.
BelRed Heating, Cooling, Air Conditioning, and Home Care service has been our main HVAC and home services provider for almost 26 years now, and we have always been so grateful for their dedication, their speed of response, and the quality of their work. BelRed's employees go above and beyond every day, as a matter of course, and they treat you like family in all of the kindest and best ways.
My friend referred me to BelRed for EV charging installation and I see why. I had contacted multiple electricians to go through quoting process and BelRed was the responsive one with the latest scheduling challenges for my experience.
Justin was the electrician who installed it for me. He was thorough, walked through the installation details prior to the start, checked in with me where needed and communicated properly.
I will recommend BelRed for sure in the future! We've been BelRed customers ever since they bailed out another HVAC company after our house was built. We have been so impressed with their repair services that we subscribe to their annual heating and cooling maintenance.
Today Trevor responded to our home for annual heating maintenance. Trevor was really professional, detail-oriented, and really knowledgeable - describing technical issues plainly.
I highly recommend Trevor and continue to recommend BelRed. Bell red and Jean Johnson have been bought out by a national company and they are no longer locally owned.
My annual cleaning of my waterless tank was $200 more than last year before the buyout. The technician also insisted that I needed a an expansion tank and build me over $800 for it and the annual service before performing the work.
When I asked him to reverse the charge as I did not want the expansion tape repair. He had me sign an updated invoice, but no credit was given.
I called their office and was told that someone would get back to me. It has been a week and no response.
Do not do business with this company, they try to upsell unnecessary work and over charge for services. Bel-Red oversold us on a heat pump.
We spent over $50,000 with this company and the system does not work as it was sold to us, and we are left with a system that does not work. They didn't bother to turn up for an appointment and waited in for 5 hours.
They are a shady company and do not do business with them. They say they're upfront about everything.
Well, sorry, that's a pretty FALSE CLAIM! They did not even have the courtesy to call up and cancel the service that they booked themselves by verifying all the details. My suggestion: avoid them at all costs since they are only good at one thing and that is to leave the customer hanging I needed the replacements of 2-toilets.
There was more needed to one of the toilets and it was done as quickly as possible. William was professional and respected my hardwood floors and cleaned the floors when he was done.
Belred over schedules and fails to communicate with customers directly. Belred reschedules without consent as many as 10 days out and then talks in circles laying on some kind of smoke and mirrors as to why their technicians can do this.
There is no communication between their dispatcher and the scheduling office. I would recommend looking elsewhere for your maintenance and repair needs.
Look for a business that values their customers. Last month we did a major job with Bel Red which went well.
Installed a major HVAC system replacement. Today we had an emergency and I thought our relationship with them would get us help in the emergency...
unfortunately no. Rating is for the lower than expected relationship with BelRed.
I had hoped that we found a company we could count on in an emergency. I had BelRed install a heat pump.
Their estimate was a lot higher than the other bid, but I picked them because I liked the equipment and the installed location was better hidden. Part way through the install, I noticed that the lines were not routed the way we had agreed upon.
It turns out there was a mix up on their side. The installer called the head office and they asked me to let the crew continue so that the other techs would not be blocked.
They promised they would fix it later, so I said yes. I talked to multiple people afterwards and everyone assured me that it would be taken care of it.
Predictably, it's been a month now and they are no longer responding. My act of good faith turned out to be naive.
It's clear now that they never intended to fix their mistake. The work cost a small fortune, so it's telling that they still nickled and dimed me.
A heat pump is a huge investment so you want it to last. If the installer can't be trusted during the installation, they certainly can't be trusted to deal with any problems or warranty claims down the road.
Steven was very efficient and pleasant to work with.He was here for just the yearly maintenance review of system. He was very knowledgeable of my situation , looking for a future upgrade in systems .
As I am hesitant to make the investment now , he offered to have the estimate I got last year reviewed as the availability and pricing of the system may have improved. No pressure, just trying to give me the latest info.
I just purchased a new Bosch heat pump. I was apprehensive in the beginning not knowing anything about HVAC, but after the consultation, I felt educated and confident.
Laura K. was my sales consultant and I couldn't be more pleased.
Laura arrived on time, very friendly, but more important very thorough. She had an answer for just about all of my questions (which were many).
The questions she couldn't answer she got an answer for quickly. She knows her equipment/brands! I worked with her for about 3 weeks before I finally made my decision to go with BelRed.
Not once did I feed pushed or rushed. Punctual, professional, informative, very thorough, excellent follow-up.
What else can a client ask for? My install is tomorrow and I feel confident that the install crew will do a great job. I will say if you are looking for an HVAC quote call BelRed and ask for Laura K.
Larry was So Professional and Caring ... He was Thorough and Answered my Questions Non-condescendingly ...
Our kitchen is under a remodel and we needed some unexpected plumbing done right away. Jonathan showed up on time and ready to get to work.
Helped us find the best solution to get us up and running again. Horrible company, they ask 500 dollars for cancellation!!!!! Stay away from them at any cost!!! Lawrence didn't have the proper parts for our furnace.
He came back in the evening to complete the repair. He encountered some problems but stayed until 11 to get the furnace running again.
Our deep appreciation for his commitment to the customer called for a furnace repair. Not repaired but wanted to sell a new one.
But what really has bothered me is the big ugly Bel Red stickers that they stuck in five different places, in some cases obscuring useful information - stuck on the electric panel for the house, the water heater, the furnace the other heater. Out of control.
Will not have them back just because they are sticker happy, well and didn't fix anything, but charged us anyhow. So appreciate Matthew and Cade coming by to help with an electrical issue.
While the pieces to my HVAC puzzle haven't all come together just yet - I'm grateful that BelRed has a full team of professional and friendly folks from a variety of specialties to help get stuff fixed around my home. I asked for an invoice as we wrapped up today's visit ...
and ... neither Matthew nor Cade were willing to give me one.
They said they weren't going to charge for the visit because the wiring was fine and there shouldn't have been a need for them to come by in the first place. I told them I wanted to do the right thing - they worked on my project so they should be paid for the work - but both again declined.
Whether or not I get charged for the visit, their graciousness continues to solidify me as a loyal customer of BelRed. Thank you to whoever does the hiring/training/development of the BelRed team - your efforts to bring in top talent with a true commitment to customer service is recognized and appreciated!! I called BelRed Energy Solutions a week ago and scheduled an appointment to get an estimate for an A/C installation for our house in Seattle.
I wanted to beat the rush before they got booked out. The gentleman I talked to was very helpful and said my address would be able to be served by BelRed Energy solutions, no problem.
I was excited because they had a great promotion going on and I wanted to take advantage. I cancelled my other appointments and waited for them to come.
Fast forward a week, I received a call saying that they don't actually service the Seattle area (even though they said the exact opposite on the phone) and that they would have to cancel my appointment. Summer is quickly approaching, and I can no longer find people to come out and give me a quote until June.
I have a newborn baby and now I'm scrambling to find companies to come out before summer hits. I wish BelRed Energy Solutions was a more trustworthy company but looking at their Yelp rating it looks like I'm not the only one who's had trouble with them.
We were in a pinch and needed someone to come take a look at a few things on our furnace and BelRed was amazing. The first lady we talked to on the phone (I forget her name) was great, she worked us in the next day.
We ended up having to call and change the time and Maria was super helpful getting us set up. Our technician, Gabriel G.
went the extra mile to help us get our furnace/thermostat in working order. He was on time, professional, friendly, and knowledgeable.
We will absolutely use BelRed in the future if anything comes up.'''.
