What I love about this company is that it really has its act together: from the office people who answer the phone to the plumber who shows up. They charge a very reasonable fee and offer excellent service to their customers.

My home warranty sent out some complete yahoo who used my own garden hose and left raw sewage in my back yard. These were the "2nd tier" guys that the insurance company sent out when I had to give the 1st guys the boot.

this is my second review of Performance Plumbing. I've used this company a number of times over the past 10 years.
They recently did a main sewer line replacement for my property in Nob Hill. They were efficient, thorough and did the work for a very reasonable price (not the cheapest quote I got, but far from the most expensive; anyways, you get the work that you pay for).
Vlad and Mike went over and beyond to get the work done in a very short period of time to minimize the inconvenience for the tenants. I highly recommend them.

Will definitely call again, though I appreciated that Vlad said, "I hope you don't see us TOO often." So, after trying unsuccessfully to unclog my own bathtub, I had to capitulate and call in the pros. After a quick Yelp perusal, I gave Performance Plumbing a call.
Since it was a little into the evening hours, I was already wincing about the costs, but it was only gonna be $95 if there wasn't anything catastrophic going on. Had I called during the day they would've charged me $65, oh well I needed the drain unclogged now.
Vlad showed up between the hours quoted and got to work post haste w/the pipe snake. Wow! He had the drain unclogged faster than you can get into a girls pants at a rave while she's peaking on ecstasy! Nuff said.

:) Alex from Performance installed a ceramic apron-front kitchen sink and a Takagi Jr. tankless water heater.
Both jobs were riddled with obstacles as my building was built in 1920's. Nothing standard about this building!! The sink required him to carefully punch out extra holes for the disposal switch and an air gap.
And the heater had to be installed over 8 feet high. With all the pesky problems with my building, he completed the work in a professional manner, and the end results are top notch.
He is thoughtful and takes pride in his work! Skeptics like me would find this hard to believe, I know. Call Performance and ask for Alex when you need a plumber.
Fiodor and his crew did a great job - going above and beyond to bring our 100+ year old staircase back to life. He is incredibly responsive and the team is very diligent in their work and cleaning up.
Dennis gets my 5 stars. They gave a reasonable window of two hours and he came within the allotted time the next day after I called.
(That's 2 stars right there) He then looked at an unbolted toilet seat and a leaky faucet. He was upfront with the potential work done and the cost (toilet reset).
(+1 star) he was courteous (not condescending-I get condescended a lot by service people, I think it's because am an Asian female) and businesslike. (+1 star).
He inspected then quickly adjusted my faucet, gave some recommendations so it won't leak again, and didn't charge extra for it. (+1 star) And....they take Amex! (+1 star) Thank you! Called today (Saturday) at 1pm and they were at my house by 2pm. Vlad was super helpful and explained what he was doing while he was doing it.
It should have cost me $45 + $95 for both the sink and the toilet, but since he managed to knock both out in less than 30 min, he only charged me the $95. I really appreciate the honest service and not being nickeled and dimed.

They gave me a time between 10:00 and 11:30. I was really hoping they would not come at 11:30 and was very happy they came just after 10.
Replacing the system in the back of the toilet, they found that the connection to the wall was leaking and should be replaced. I said go ahead and when he was done he showed me the parts which is the small pipe he took out of the wall.
It looked really old and was really happy we avoided a potential problem. Besides, he also fixed a leaky faucet.
He was gone just before 1P.M. I did not compare prices but it seemed reasonable considering he seemed to have fixed so much professionally, quickly and cleanly.

Great service! Highly recommended. We had moved our stove for remodeling and noticed a gas leak.
I called at 6 pm and Alex came at 8 pm. He even made a second visit 2 days later to help us hook up our stove and to check for gas leaks.
Fantastic! My home insurance company recommended these folks. The plumber showed up 10 minutes after the window that he was supposed to show for ended.
Then, he fixed the problem with my garbage disposal but in the process broke a pipe. He claimed it was because of a faulty installation and not his fault and that I needed a new garbage disposal for 300 bucks plus installation.
I said, I didn't trust his judgement since it was clear that the pipe had been fine for many years before he showed up. Finally, he called his boss who told him to fix the mess he'd made.
He did. Of course, because he was late I also missed an appointment.
I would not recommend these folks. Even though I called at 10:30pm on a Sunday night, Mike, the owner, came out in under an hour.
He got a difficult job done in under an hour and charged us exactly what he quoted. Of course, he was professional and courteous.
But what really really impressed me is that he found a severe problem with our plumbing that would have to be dealt with at a later time. Not only did he explain the problem in a way we understood but he told us we should call all his competitors and get bids for the job.

My bathtub and shower drain were clogged, and I find them on smartphone search. I call them because they were near me.
The guy arrived quickly ,and gave me a fair price . So I agree to let him do it.
But the guy could only fix the shower drain, and he could not pull his tool out from the bathtub drain. And it was stuck in the pipe.
Oh my God, he still wanna charge me for the shower. And said he could repipe my bathtub drain.
but it will cost $800. Gee, I gave him money for the shower, and I don't want him fix anymore.
I had my second clog in 9 months since I moved into my current place. The pipes are old and even though I do what I can to prevent anything but water going down the drain, I got another clog.
Decided to try Performance Plumbing this time and called around 11am. I was able to schedule a plumber to come between 2 & 4pm the same day.
Received a call around 12 that he was running early and was just around the corner, could he come now? Not only did he arrive early, but I was charged much less than what the last company charged me! The visit took at MOST 15 minutes to snake my drain and I can once again shower without standing in a puddle. Thank you! never showed up 3 hrs waited ..kept on calling they are saying they are coming soon soon..
and end of 3 hrs..they said i did not have appitment today.. its next week..they why they kept on saying he is coming and all the lies..

Alex worked late to get our hydrojet cleaning done and I really appreciated his diligence. On the recommendation of another plumber, we contacted Performance Plumbing specifically to hydrojet our kitchen drain line.
Having seen pics of the inside of our 60 year old kitchen pipes, I was disgusted and about to get the whole thing replaced when I learned about the hydrojet process. So far, so good! I had a leaky faucet and called them to schedule an appointment.
The lady on the phone was very nice and courteous and was able to book me an appointment that same day. One of their plumbers Vlad came by and he is just a super awesome cool dude.

We moved into an apartment with an expensive, unique french shower (Herbeau) that wasn't putting out hot water. Based on yelp reviews we called Performance.
The plumber came on time, and admitted he had never seen our type of exposed thermostatic shower before. He claimed his assistant would research it and he would call us in a week.
No call, so we called Performance. Promised again to get back to us - still "researching." Yet another week went by and no follow up.
Finally called the US Herbeau distributor myself (took 2 minutes online to find it), and was given a local supply firm for the needed part. I get my shower is unique, but if you can't fix it just tell me.
Don't string me along. We installed a new double sink with disposal unite.
The whole under sink plumbing needed to be redone. I know enough about pluming to get me in trouble and I must say they did a great, clean, solid job.

Excellent (and full disclosure I am not a fan trades people who jerk consumers around) Five stars for responsiveness, I didn't actually need any work done. I've been plagued by a smell in the bathroom and was worried it was mold or gas or something, so I thought I'd call a plumber to at least confirm whether it's sewer gas or not.
Performance Plumbing came and despite saying it did not smell like sewer gas to him, he still turned on taps and smelled drains to try to get a better clue of the smell I was perceiving. Even though it was clear he wouldn't be getting any real work from me at that point (the smell was likely a result of poor ventilation) he still stuck around to alleviate my fears and give simple suggestions.
I had another plumber from another plumbing company come by earlier in the week, but he was very dismissive and didn't even try to sniff around and instead pointed out little jobs he could do, so I felt like he wasn't taking the perceived problem seriously. But now after having Performance Plumbing come by I feel comforted that it definitely isn't sewer gas (unfortunately it's still a mystery, but that's one option down).
I really appreciated the effort to address what I believed was a problem and would love to use this company if I have plumbing issues in the future. I had a clogged kitchen sink, and after trying several bottles of liquid plumber, decided I needed to call a real one.
I saw that Performance Plumbing had favorable Yelp reviews and comparatively reasonable prices, and decided to give them a shot. I called and they scheduled an appointment for that afternoon.
One of the plumbers had time free up earlier, and they called back to tell me he could come earlier than scheduled, which was great. The plumber--Vlad--showed up, opened the pipe, got rid of the clog, and also found and repaired a leak while he was at it.

I know they're good at fixing leaks and clogs, but let me tell you that we had a two-week job, and their performance was outstanding. This was replacement of outdated exterior plumbing in a lightwell in a six-unit condo in San Francisco.
Fortunately, it didn't have to be done right away, so we waited until rainy season was over (they fixed any leaks while we waited). They got the permit and the parking permit, did the work with a minimum of noise and irritation to the residents, and in less time than they had estimated, and the work passed the inspection the first time.
We paid what we had contracted, with no change orders or complaints about "unexpected" problems, and they even fixed a "plastic plumbing with no permit" problem at no additional charge so it would pass the inspection. And with a one-year warranty, we don't expect to see them again for a while, though we'll certainly call them for unrelated leaks and clogs that may occur in the future.
Had an emergency so I found the closest plumber to my house. Figured I would find my plumber by distance.
Turns out I wasn't wrong, they were here in an amazing 5 minutes from the end of my call and fixed my leak in just 15 minutes, nice guys also. Highly recommend! I've used these guys a couple of times for me and they always did a quick and good job.
24 hour service means really 24 hours, 2 months ago during those heavy rains I had to call them at 3 am in the morning. The water from our toilet came up and covered our whole bathroom and hallways.
They came by 6am in the morning and managed to make things much better. Pleased with their responsiveness and helpful attitude, I will call them agin in case of emergency.
This is a review for service done a few years ago. As I was having some ro work done in a skylight, I decided to replace the drain covers.
After talking to the owner, I felt he had a very good understanding of plumbing concepts and was able to articulate the process and potential issues so I decided to use them. I don't think they were the cheapest, but reasonable and based on his knowledge, someone I could trust.
He replaced the drain covers, and mentioned the crud that dropped into the drain and mentioned snaking it, but did not do it at the time of the cover replacement. Well, it rained shortly thereafter, and guess what...it backed up and resulted in significant water leakage into the building.
It took awhile to figure out what was causing the leak. I called him, he came out and figured out the problem and finally snaked the drain.
However, no apologies, and no offer to make up for the oversight. Now, I am not sure if the moisture eventually evaporated, or I have a growing mold problem! Net, I think they do quality work, not the cheapest, but I feel should have acknowledged or offered something for their oversight.
A missed opportunity for a good business practice in the service industry. I think it was Alex who came this AM to unclogged the tub.
Thanks. Not sure about the services they provided to others on this forum, for me..this guy from this company came and GOD knows what they told my insurance company that they denied my insurance claim and I was in the mess of plumbing issue (with water overflowing over my new carpet) for a week.
Although another plumber who we called earlier had no problem with my insurance company and my insurance company approved him to do whatever he wanted to fix it. I guess these people want to make more money on other's expense/problems.
I will not recommend this company to anyone else. They gave us so much run around with our insurance company and didnot fix our problem.
I am a property manager and have worked with Performance Plumbing for 3 years on many jobs in many different locations and situations. The greatest thing is the techs (who complete the job) are always available to follow up on the phone, explain the options, suggest best course of action.
They have the owner's best interests in mind. Also great backup in the office, they are small enough still so the office knows where the techs are and everything is accounted for.

The tech Performance Plumbing sent over was professional and came up with several potential solutions to our toilet issue. After getting the repair cleared by the warranty people, he came back on time and fixed the toilet perfectly.
I was also very impressed with the follow up from the office staff. Great plumbers and I won't hesitate to use them again- Their plumbers had to replace a defective water shut-off valve to a toilet, a job that a couple of other plumbers I called declined.
They removed the toilet and replaced it and even carried the old toilet to the garage. They were fast and completed both jobs in less than an hour, and the price was reasonable, less than Home Depot.
They would have taken the toilet for a fee, but I know a place that accepts toilets for only $5. Easy and good.

They gave me a very reasonable bid over the phone to do what I thought was needed (replacing the water heater's thermocouple). The actual problem turned out to be different - the entire input valve assembly needed to be replaced (a considerably more expensive part).
We found this out only after Alex had replaced the thermocouple as per my instructions. No problem, he went back in and fixed it.
Total time: about 3 hours. Total cost, including thermocouple and input valve: $215, which is a very fair price for the parts and labor.
I really appreciated the fact that when the problem proved more complex they didn't try to take advantage of the situation. I recommend them highly.
