Review and analyze now for company Beyond Wow Plumbing and provide the analysis in the discussed format for the following reviews: '''Requested leak detection. Jacob was excellent, and saved me a bunch of money.
Other plumbers diagnosed the problem as a slab leak. Jacob discovered a roof leak.
Much cheaper to fix. I have used S&D for large-scale, complex, expensive work over many years.
While they are definitely not the cheapest, they are fast, knowledgeable, and organized. This is why I have trusted them with large-scale jobs, and referred them to others.
Recently, I called them because I have one rental property that had an indoor supply leak. The property is located in the same area as the other homes where they have done work for me.
I mentioned this on the phone to make it clear I was a repeat customer, and to not cause confusion with needing to provide a new service address for the call. They made it clear they are too short staffed to service rental properties right now, and at this time they only service owner-occupied properties.
I explained that I could be present to meet the plumber, and be present for repair and payment, to eliminate relaying approval and appointment times, but no. They also couldn't recommend another plumber to call.
It's their right to work with whomever they choose, but it's disappointing that they aren't willing to work with a repeat customer when they need a repair. Although they earned my trust after repeated projects, they just lost it when they left me scrambling to find someone to fix a leak.
I wanted to go with this company, they were nice and sent two gentlemen to give me an estimate. However, the quote they gave was over double what a competitor had for the exact same fix and they couldn't do it same day either as the competitor did.
If you factor in signing up for their goofy subscription service, then it's about 25% less (still almost double). Listen, nobody wants more subscription services, we all have enough already.
They want something fixed, fixed right, and a set price. Not a "VIP" service where they do a ton of checks and actually drum up more business for themselves.
This is nothing against the technicians, but the company itself. Please assess your pricing model as well as pushing customers to sign up for a yearly package, you're losing business.
We signed up for the VIP service. They are responsive to making appointments & getting a technician out.
That service is free with VIP. Then comes the diagnosis & repair quote which is always several hundred.
I think some of the newer plumbers need more training before diagnosing & quoting. I was quoted over $500 to install a diverter & I already had the part.
I was also told this would not fix the problem. I had another company come out, get on the phone with the facet company, walk through how to install the part, charged way less & problem is fixed.
Weston Lemons was the S&D tech that we worked with last week. He was great & will be who I request from now on.
He was very knowledgeable & helpful. I would give him 5 stars & the company 1-2 stars for the pricing.
Been a while since we had a plumbing issue at our rental property, but I knew exactly who to call because of their friendly & reliable service that I've experienced in the past - S&D Plumbing. I'm not sure why they are rated so low on this platform - every experience I've had has been nothing but positive, and I feel that I do pay the appropriate value for services rendered.
I know this wasn't expected, but they came out the same day to check and repair a broken PVC pipe from our washer to the outside drain. The online scheduling form was incredibly easy to use, and they were more than accommodating when I asked them to communicate with my tenants before arrival and during the work.
Thanks for coming out, Jorge! Appreciate your two calls today to verify the work was completed along with pictures as requested! I highly trust S&D with my business, and you should too! Do not recommend- stay away! We asked them to come out for a toilet issue and a drainage issue with our laundry room/kitchen drain. $1400 dollars of work later the drainage issue was worse than before with filthy water backing up into the kitchen sink, and the "toilet rebuild" resulted in a toilet that now does not flush unless you open up the tank and manually pull the flapper chain (!).
We did not verify the work before they left- huge mistake as it turns out, but who leaves a job like that claiming it was complete? Called them back out to resolve the issues and despite their technician who did the initial evaluation acknowledging they'd misdiagnosed the drainage problem, they wanted to charge an additional $1200 "diagnostic fee" on a pump that their previous tech had supposedly confirmed was working. Offering to apply that fee to additional work you're going to recommend does not cut it when at best you didn't fully diagnose/completely misdiagnosed the problem and at worst you are running a deliberate scam.
They are clearly interested in taking your money and running rather than making it right. The folks who answer their phones also somehow have no knowledge/no memory of you, even if you are signed up for their "VIP Program"- had to let them know every time I was calling because their fixes didn't fix anything and start over with name, address, was I a homeowner, what the issues were, etc.
The girl that scheduled & the guys that came out the same day were great. But the company, in general, charges a $75 fee to come out and then hit me with over $300 to fix a garbage disposal.
I could've gotten another estimate, but at that point, already $75 in. I'm still in shock.
If you see this, run. BEWARE!!! They quoted me more than a thousand dollars just to replace 4 outdoor hose bibs which is NOT a complicated job, especially for a professional.
They were just old and needed to be replaced. Nothing major.
It's probably the easiest plumbing job there is. The hose bibs only cost about $15.00 a piece.
I knew what I needed when I sent a request to them and advised the same, and they easily could have given me a ballpark figure, but no. They had to come out and charge me a $75 fee to give me an outrageous quote.
What a waste of everyone's time and my money Do yourself a favor and call another company. I do NOT recommend them.
First off, S&D Plumbing is great. I noticed a leak/standing water in my garage and couldn't find the source.
Technicians from S&D (Jess Shaw and Travis Mosty) came over and were really efficient at finding the problem and did very minimal damage to get at the source. I ended up having a slab leak in my hot water line and they capped the line and gave me a quote with no pressure (plumbing pun?) for immediate follow-up or without an upsell of any kind.
They were very happy to help and were all smiles and friendliness from the time they rang the door to the time the job was done. I did follow-up and get the reroute done by S&D and the technicians (Nick Martinez and Ryan Gardner) were also super friendly and professional.
The job was a little harder than expected due to some complications running the line through the ceiling but they took time to explain the work they had done. I had to work from home and they notified me before making cuts to make sure that I wouldn't be disturbed which was honestly a really nice touch.
They taped over all holes and took extra time to sweep, dust, vacuum and clean the work areas when done. These guys were superstars.
I didn't experience any upsell other than recommendations for a pressure relief valve due to my house having higher water pressure from the city line. They did recommend a company for water mitigation (WB Arthur) which I have also had a great experience with and I am happy I chose them over my insurance's recommendation for water mitigation.
Overall, I highly recommend S&D Plumbing and have already referred them to neighbors needing to get work done. We initially came to S&D because of the raving reviews on Google.
In late August we hired S&D to camera the lines and do a hydrostatic test of a home we were considering purchasing. The home has cast iron piping so we really wanted to understand the health of the lines.
S&D reported there was nothing wrong with the lines and it passed with flying colors. Since moving in, one of our drains was progressively getting worse and worse.
We called a different plumber out to inspect the lines only to find out there was a giant root in the lines (multiple feet in length). The plumber said this should have been easily caught and that a root that size could not have grown in a few short months.
This is incredibly frustrating as this was the specific reason why we called S&D to inspect the lines during our option period as we would have negotiated in cast iron plumbing replacement. We asked if they could at the very least refund the inspection cost.
They said the owner would call us but it's been over a week and haven't heard anything. Would not recommend using.
I recently hired S & D plumbing to make some major repairs to my main line. While there have been no issues with the plumbing work so far, I wanted to share the terrible experience I had with this company after learning they damaged my bathroom floor tiles during the work.
No protection was placed on the floor and when the toilet was dragged across the tile, it chipped and damaged a good portion of the floor. When I brought this to their attention they initially appeared to be responsive and assured us someone would be out to assess the damages and determine a plan for repairing the tile.
The company made several verbal and written promises to follow up but never did. A month later and only due to DAILY phones calls from myself did they finally send out a company to assess the damage and prepare an estimate.
The damage was so extensive that the repair company stated the entire floor would need to be replaced. After this S&D us completely ghosted me.
I've called incessantly, each time with another promise that the manager will call me back tomorrow, call me Monday, etc. I've never received a phone call nearly 4 months later and I suspect I never will.
When I followed up with the repair company they stated that S&D contacted them and informed them "the customer won't be moving forward with any repairs at this time". This is untrue as I very much would like my floors repaired but am now on my own to either dispute these charges with my credit card company or go to small claims court- of which I plan on doing both.
This experience has been and will most likely continue to be extremely stressful. Before you consider doing business with this company, please consider any of the other number of honest plumbers in the Austin area.
If S&D would like to reach out to me and make this right, you have my contact information. Complete, Professional, Top-Knotch service on every level.
From the folks who answer the phones, to the dispatchers and the awesome plumbers, this company is in high performance mode regardless of the job at hand. I'm disabled and have lost much of the use of my hands, so when a plumbing issue becomes too much for me, I go straight to S&D.
These folks have proven to me again and again that they are worth the cost of their service. Recently we had them out twice dealing with a post-Thanksgiving clogged sink drain and the install of a new sink faucet.
Both times we've been wowwed by their timeliness and professionalism with regard to assuring a great final product. Before they even starty to think about finishing up, they're double-checking everything as well as answering my questions and concerns.
Really like these guys a lot. A little expensive, but well worth the service.
I've been getting estimates for replacing the original cast iron pipes in my house. This was my fifth and so far worst experience.
They wanted to charge $75 to come out. This was the first plumber I decided to pay for an estimate on this work.
Big mistake. Once they arrived, they told me they wanted another $550 to run their cameras.
Something that three of the other companies doing estimates did for free. I did not get an estimate at all but I do have $75 less dollars.
I do not recommend this company at all. I called S&D Plumbing and got a next day appointment.
After making the appointment I went on Yelp to read their reviews. I was uneasy so I called them back and told my concerns to Lisa.
She assured me and I toke her at her word. Fast forward....Weston showed up on time and begin to evaluate my problems.
Yes problems. He was very patience and professional.
He explained everything to us a few times and what options would service our needs and pocketbook. We got a few of our plumbing needs take care of this trip.
We really appreciated Weston. I would recommend S&D plumbing to a friend.
Thank you No phonecall as I was promised. Just a response to cover their butts for my yelp review, apparently Im not the only person who thinks they are a rip off.
Still outstanding work to be completed. Yes I signed the estimate as they were at my residence.
I only got a choice to save about $200 on builders grade new toilet. Nothing in my home is builders grade.
They are charging me for hours to get parts and being stuck in traffic. They don't give you an opportunity to tell them what you need before the service call.
Based on some cost of parts they are charging over $400 hour for labor. RIP off artists.
A hot water shutoff valve cost about $20 retail. 20 minute job.
I was charged $186. If anyone thinks that is fair they are smoking crack.
Shame on you Brian C. Too cowardly to actually speak to me.
DON'T USE S AND PLUMBING without an estimate before a plumber shows up Called to have plumber come out to commercial property to obtain bid to move city meter box and line due to the State of Texas obtaining ROW. The job is a $7,5000 to $12,000.00 job.
First person I spoke with couldn't understand what I was requesting and asked some ridiculous questions like "does the water provider know about this" I answered that they would indeed once the plumbing company pulled a permit online with them. It was obvious that she didn't have the expertise to handle this job.
So, I told her that and thanked her and she hung up on me before I was finished talking. I called back and spoke with someone else who was much more knowledgeable and she said that she would have someone call and schedule an appointment with me.
It has been over five days ago without a call back to schedule. So, I called today and the lady that I spoke with didn't have any notes about my previous conversation with the person five days ago.
I have wasted a lot of time with them. So S&D came in March 2020 and replaced our water heater.
Did research; price was reasonable. The service was prompt.
Guy left some tools behind. Not six months later, and it broke.
The pilot wouldn't light. New plumber said the previous person no longer worked there.
Then was VERY honest and explained that previous plumber had not installed what we purchased, probably by accident. The one we had in place had a known issue requiring replacement of a small part plus hourly rates for labor.
Only the parts are covered by warranty. He showed up an hour later with a meeting water heater and a Frirnd and installed it.
Very professional and fast. We all make mistakes.
You're only as strong as your weakest employee. Extra star for honesty and making things right! The good side is Claire (office) was lovely and diligent to book an appt.
yesterday and plumber (Matthew) arrived the same morning to ck. stoppage of kit.
sink @ tenants! The really bad was the 3 quotes: $651/ mini hydro jet, $433/ auger, and... $1256/ 'Best Value' hydro jet incl.
'treatment' of Total C & Interior access hydro jet. (I was fine with paying $75 service charge.) Thinking quote...steep...
got 2nd opinion plumbers: Auger done for $250 total charge. All is well.
So- I cannot trust the fairness of this business. Rip off....we have a condensate line leak in our attic.
The 3/4" line is exposed. The thinking is there is a crack in the PVC or a joint not glued.
The tech quoted me $1200 to replace a 10' section on PVC. Find someone else that's not on commission.
I consulted Yelp for a plumber recently due to a leak between the wall and the back of my toilet. Two men came to do the work, or rather, one man talked about himself the entire time, and his assistant did the work.
When they finished, I paid a large bill...over $900...which included another $149.99 that enabled me to have VIP status, which would allow me to have several perks because they warned me that my old hot water heater would fail in the near future and the VIP membership would save me more than the fee for it. I left for an appointment when they left, and about 20 minutes later my daughter called in a panic, to tell me that the bathroom was flooded.
I immediately called the plumber and told them to get back to the house ASAP. When I got home, the plumber who did the work told me that the tank was overflowing but that he had never done any work inside the tank.
I reminded him that he had told me about very generously working on a mechanism inside the tank that he didn't think was working properly. I then told them to bring back the check I had just given them and I would give them another check, less the VIP fee.
They brought the first check back and I gave them the check for the difference. Later that afternoon, I got a call from the non-working plumber who said he was the manager of the office, with the news that the check had been deposited through mobile banking before they even left my house the first time.
But that he had already had another check cut for the refund of the VIP fee, and as soon as the first check cleared the bank, the refund check would be mailed to me, along with the second check. Today is August 1, the check was deposited on July 19, and cleared my bank on July 20.
Having not received the refund and second check by July 28, I called, and no one seemed to know what I was talking about. Finally, I got a call back, and was told that the refund check would be cut "sometime next week." I stated that I was told that it had already been cut on July 19, and that I wanted the two checks delivered to me by the next day.
A text followed that conversation in which I was told that the check would be cut that day and mailed the same day, and I should get it by the next day. Today, August 1, I called again.
The phone rang many times, and then I was asked to hold on briefly. After 6 minutes, I hung up, and texted.
I received a text saying that the check had been mailed from Taylor, TX, on July 28. I suspect that the person who handles the calls recognized my name/number on the read-out and put me on an indefinite hold.
I will be taking my case to the small claims court tomorrow. STAY AWAY FROM THESE PEOPLE.
THEY ARE VERY DISHONEST. This company is kind and courteous and professional but will try to charge you way more than you should be paying for your repair.
They charged us $450 for 1 hour of the plumber's time then an additional $475 to camera a line (a fee I had initially incorrectly assumed was included in the $450 of plumber time for diagnosis). They diagnosed the problem correctly, but bid us $30,000 for the repair.
I then called another plumbing company in town to get a second bid. They charged us exactly half the price for the same project and completed the repair.
I've used A&d for many years for Mom and myself in Georgetown and picked them up in Taylor but had a sad. So 2 years ago I struggled 8 months with no hot water after February freeze trying to get State Farm to coverthe replumb of my entire house.
Tiny house, 10k. After that I had s&d fix my shower too.
Tapped for loans on 4500 on this 100 year old tiny house, the sink the fixed for state farm kept coming undone. I think they came once real early 2 years ago but still a problem.
I decided due to overhead to wait til June 23 when shower loan was paid to call again. I kept a sink tub under and would empty in my toilet.
I April 2023, I had a two strokes at once. I was in rehab from April til 8/31.
My cats died there were flea infestation. Horrors.
Friends didn't know of those sink tubs under the sink fixing things. They even called S&d when they found it who said the plumbing was put in backwards! Now slight water damage too.
Cautionary tail call when the sink doesn't work, even if you're broke and have no money. Generally a good group.
They actually fixed it with proper piping separate time and not just PVC!That second sink plumber from S&D didn't know the one who put the plumbing in backwards was from S&D! Do NOT use them with anything associated with your insurance. They will refuse to send you the details of your home's issues, and instead, tell you that you have to talk to insurance to get info on your OWN HOME.
Not only did they refuse to give me information about my own home, but they FAILED to diagnose all the issues. I had to bring in another plumber, who discovered more leaks that S&D failed to find.
I was extremely disappointed with their service. I was charged 400 dollars to have my main line snaked.
That took maybe 15 minutes. That was with a 50 off coupon.
The plumber was nice. Not his fault.
He was here about a hour for a "complimentary " service to check out my hot water heater, water pressure etc... of course which o was told all needs work.
If you have money to throw down the toilet. Go for it.
I'm not smiling. I should have checked these reviews before calling them out for a water heater issue.
They make you agree to a $195 consultation fee that is payable if you don't do the work, then they quote you a large sum for the work, which forces you to make a decision to either pay for the overpriced work or lose the $195. You don't even get a chance to shop around for another quote for the repair work because to apply the $195 consultation fee to the cost of the work, it must be accepted and paid "same day".
Extremely expensive. Charge me over $800 to swap out a bathroom sink faucet.
At first they said $1000, but came down after a few minutes. The two workers were professional and did the job in about an hour, but I should have found a better a deal.
Over priced and I got railroaded on the $195 trip charge that would be used towards job. Well the quote was over priced and I could not get a more detailed breakdown on labor and equipment.
I was told the owner was on calls all day and could not call me back. Sorry but that's no acceptable I can't get a call back from anyone to discuss their over priced estimate.
Do not use this company, I feel I was taken advantage of and it's pretty crappy to be hustled. Thanks for nothing S&D plumbing! So you got my money for nothing, that's not OK.
I don't write many reviews, but our experience was so unsatisfactory it seems important to take the time to do so. We had S&D Plumbing out for a camera run because we were concerned that a backflow in our kitchen meant our ancient cast iron plumbing had finally given out.
The very first thing the plumber did, before he even stepped into our house, was try to upsell my husband on some sort of confusing membership service. We regret that we didn't ask him to leave right then.
The plumber ran the camera and couldn't see anything. He did a pigtail run and couldn't figure out with that whether there was a blockage or not.
He said there was soil on the other end, and concluded our line had collapsed and we needed to replace it, but didn't actually show this soil to us. He then mis-measured our house (off by at least 25 ft) and gave us a truly astronomically high estimate (basically a price that said "eff off, we don't want to do this work") for what we already knew to be a very costly service: tunneling and line replacement.
He charged us for the (useless) camera run and left us surprised and angry at being treated with this kind of casual contempt. We had another plumbing company out the next week, for what we thought would be a second tunneling and line replacement estimate.
But guess what? Our ancient sewer line is completely fine for the time being. It was just a blockage.
Capital City Plumbing had the skill, the time and the effort to clear it for us. I recommend all readers AVOID S&D based on this experience.
Another plumber referred me to them for leak detection and remediation service and I made a huge mistake by not researching the company before contacting them. They came over dug up my yard and charged me nearly $1000 for isolating the irrigation system which they said stopped 99% of the leak and I must just have a dripping faucet or something.
A couple days later we notice the water is actually leaking faster than before S&D came out. S&D refused to come back out to look at it so I had to hire another company.
It's fortunate that I did because they were able to very quickly show me how S&D didn't actually do the work they billed me for and then actually perform that work which stopped the leak. Just wish I had found them before getting scammed for nearly $1000 by S&D plumbing.
I see a reply from them now asking me to contact them. I'm not sure why as I already talked to their manager Scott several times prior to posting this review.
I gave them every chance to make it right or explain. I even sent him a report from my 2nd plumber showing how they had to do the same work that S&D supposedly did and had already billed me for and he still refused to even listen to me.
RIP OFF!! The company charged $660+ to pull and auger our toilet initially at the end of May. I called a couple months later when there was a leak from the base of my toilet again (which they reset and sealed themselves the first trip) and they GUARANTEED A FREE TRIP unless further repairs were needed to be made, not related to original job.
They pulled the toilet, said the concrete needed to be chiseled before they could replace the flange and reset and that it would be $1000 for that and $3850 more if that didn't work to replace the concrete slab. They also said I would need a camera run for $500 and hydro-jetting for $1100.
After telling them it was fine and I would figure something else out, they charged me $225 for a diagnostic fee since they hadn't caused the concrete damage under the toilet. The concrete was the same as it was the last time they reset the toilet and there were no new repairs made from the trip.
I went to Lowe's and got a new flange and ring and reset the toilet myself for $30, which saved me potentially $4820. It hasn't leaked from the base anymore because that wasn't the problem.
I then called and hired a plumber with Mr. Rooter who investigated the issue, found out there was pipe breakage behind the house and potentially roots that their auger wasn't able to get rid of.
He was here for an hour but I paid $0 (would have only been a $29 trip fee and $90 for the augering) since they didn't solve the issue and they're coming back tomorrow with the proper tools to fix at a way lower cost than S&D. Lesson learned the hard way, call Mr.
Rooter instead! Canceled two appointments and left me sitting here waiting for them. Both times with the same lame excuse.
Worst ever. Kept rescheduling.
Giving some stupid reasons for not showing. Save your time and money, don't go here.
After S& D Plumbers found the cause of my low water pressure which was my new water softener, they found resin & flushed my water lines at each faucet. I had a problem when I called the manufacturer of my new water softener's warranty group.
The gentleman wasn't believing it was the cause & wanted photos of the resin that was flushed out. This house is only 2 years old & the water softener is 6 months old so I followed his directions to convince him.
I ended up breaking the kitchen faucet & only evidence was a little resin in bottom of toilets. The next day I called S & D again & a young & patient woman named Kyrsten who listened & said the invoice identified the resin so sent me another copy of it.
When I called the softener manufacturer back I talked with a reasonable man & he write up the authorization to replace/repair the unit. I chose repair bc a new one was an unknown factor so I'm waiting for the parts to be shipped to me & Winbar Services will repair quickly.
Good customer service is extremely important. Thank you S & D & Winbar.
If there was a 0 rating I would give it to this company. Worst company I've ever dealt with.
They misdiagnosed our plbg. problem, overcharged us, got their jet hose stuck in our pipe & refused to remove it unless we paid for it, then abandoned the job.
This company was dishonest and refused to give us a refund or negotiate in any way to make us whole again. It am filing a formal complaint with the Texas State Board of Plumbers against this company.
2 other plumbing companies told us we had a verifiable complaint. Don't be fooled by the "good ol boy" mentality.
This was my experience with S & D Plumbing. Good luck if you use this company.
Worst experience I've ever had. Laughably over-priced...
I should have known better though as the first time I used them for a shower cartridge repair (which I should have done myself, but that's another story), they left us in a bind after they showed up without the part they first quoted (so obviously knew they needed) to have to come back and repair what they later diagnosed as further problems... but enough about that, as it mainly turned out fine, just suffice to say it left a bad taste, and fast forward to our recent experience: We had them out to quote re-installing our garbage disposal and new faucet with a new larger sink.
The old faucet and sink were totally removed before then; the new sink was in place and attached to the counters, the garbage disposal (we detached just needed reattaching... and since they were there, we were interested in them putting the faucet too so we didn't have to twist around under cabinets if they were doing that already).
We knew the job would required some repositioning of drainage pipes, but as we were providing the materials figured it wouldn't be too expensive to get a professional to do the install and save ourselves some time... They quoted three different prices with varying degrees of service (including a valve that did not need repairing and we told them to quote in case it was cheap, but like all things S&D, it was not) and THE CHEAPEST QUOTE they provided for the work was over $900 and the most expensive was over $1,100...
They were very nice, but it is not technical work or worth that AT ALL. I kid you not: my husband (not a plumber and someone who doesn't consider himself that handy, hence why we asked S&D out) was able to DO THE WORK HIMSELF for under $100 in random assorted supplies (new fittings, plumbers putty, etc.) from Home Depot and do it himself in one evening.
The pipe repositioning took some handy work, but reattaching a garbage disposal to drainage and a sink is easy -- "installing", if you can call it that when it's just basically reconnecting it, a faucet is even easier. Don't bother: they were lackluster with the shower fix, I should have known better, and then they quoted sooooooooooooo comically high for the garbage disposal/faucet, now I know I'll never call again.
$1000 or $100 in supplies and a little time... The one star isn't just because you can't give 0 stars -- S&D truly is very nice and their plumbers are even nicer! But $350 is about what I expected garbage disposal work, and when you strung out my shower repairs, I just shouldn't have called you back to find that out, but I'm glad I know now how much you overcharge.
Alec and Zach do amazing, thorough work. I called S&D at almost 3 p.m.
after another plumber in town stood me up without contacting me. I couldn't take off anymore work this week, and had an active water leak in my front yard and wanted to get it taken care of ASAP.
Zach and Alec made it out within the hour. They were very helpful and did a really good job of explaining the process and problem, and walked me through the cost estimate every time they had an update, which I really appreciated.
They were great about trying to get everything that had to be dug up back in place after the job too, even though it was dark by then. Highly recommend them! My mom used these guys and they charged her almost $800 for an hours worth of worth.
I think that was JUST labor and didn't even dig! Not cool... Fast friendly service, highly recommended.
Kyle is a definite asset to the company. I made an appointment for a toilet repair and several estimates over two weeks ago and was given an appointment for 5/7/21 between 8:00-12:00.
I received a confirmation email and text on 5/6 confirming my appointment time. At 9:45 on 5/7, the day of my appointment, I was contacted by someone asking to reschedule to a week later because "they were behind and people were without hot water since the freeze" (which was mid February).
I told them no, that wouldn't work for me since I had taken off work and waited over two weeks for my appointment and I considered my toilet issue just as critical and the other customers should have made appointments sooner. I was told rudely "that rescheduling was all they could do".
If they were this far behind nearly three months after the freeze, they should have known that long before confirming my appointment the day before and should have reached out to me in a much friendlier and apologetic manner - not the day of, two hours into my appointment window to cancel. Don't use these guys if you value your time since they obviously don't.
So, I contacted the General Manger as directed by Amanda...I tried to get an answer on why my neighbors got their unit for almost $3,000 less. All I was told was they complained about their quote and a different Technician came out and did the job cheaper some how (which matched the story my neighbors gave us).
He didn't get into any more specifics than that. I then asked how I can install the new Navien NPE-240A cheaper.
I was told we could skip the roofing modifications, cap the old water heater vent, and save $750 as well as hold off on the Gas Test and Inspection until the city could do the inspection, $577.50 (didn't sound like savings...just a delay in expenses). That would bring the quote down closer to $7,200.
That was still about $1,400 above what my neighbors paid using S&D. I decided to call other plumbers...4 Paws came out and offered to install the exact same tankless water heater for $3,750.
I showed them the quote from S&D and they were shocked. They said they have never heard or seen a quote this high before for this unit.
S&D alone was charging me $4,884 for the Navien NPE-240A...almost a $1k more than what 4 Paws charged WITH installation for the Navien NPE-240A. I asked 4 Paws repeatedly if they were offering to install the exact same unit and it was brand new...they said yes.
I even checked it was still in the box when they came to do the install...it was. I have always used S&D Plumbing for my plumbing needs.
I know they are a little more expensive than their competitors, which I don't mind paying a little extra to get good customer service (which they always delivered), but this experience left a bad taste in my mouth. There was no way I was going to install the water heaters at the prices they gave me and still shocked that was the quote.
I will probably use them again in the future but will watch their pricing more closely going forward. This firm is incredible.
I had a small fire that required a replacement of my gas pipe. NO hot water.
It seemed like every big firm was booked solid and no help to me. But S&D sent a guy that day and it was replaced the next day!!! And the guy was extremely well experienced and also very professional and friendly.
And the cost was reasonable--no gouge for the extra-quick service. They are now MY plumber! Cannot recommend them highly enough.
Afterwards I found out that my insurance company uses them a lot and really trusts them. S&D sent Melvin out to the house to detect a sewer gas smell that we were experiencing intermittently.
He was really knowledgeable and helpful, and fixed the problem. Absolutely wouldn't hesitate to hire them again.
Our insurance company contracted this company to "detect" a slab leak we have at our home. We had already determined the leak was coming from a hot water line in our master closet and my husband had already done a temporary fix by the time this company came out.
My first impression was that the plumber who came out was professional and seemed experienced; however when we asked for information regarding the bid and scope of work they refused to share this information with us. They stated that they will work directly with our insurance (as if the work wasn't being performed at our home). This was the first red flag, the following day they submitted the bid to our adjuster, which he shared with us.
There were items added to the bid for work that wasn't performed. I called the office and notified them of the discrepancies I found with their bid, the person I spoke with stated they would talk to the plumber and revise.
During this same conversation the person on the phone went on to say that our adjuster had approved the work and we would need to sign a contract they had emailed over to begin the work. As if we would consider moving forward with any work at that time. The next day they sent in the revised bid to our adjuster which had discrepancies yet again.
I called their office again and the person on the phone was extremely rude and unprofessional. I guess they thought we wouldn't care that they're ripping off our insurance company because it's not coming out of our pocket, but that's not the case.
After this terrible experience with this company we decided to take our business elsewhere. Used this company for commercial pipe/plumbing and could not have had better customer service at all steps (constant texts with status) and Kyle was extremely knowledgable and professional.
Highly recommend! As a homeowner, you want to know who to call for electrical, heating & AC, and plumbing issues. I finally found a company that can handle my plumbing problems and KNOW it will be taken care of.
Having gone through two other companies that failed, I called S & D. My problem was complex that needed to be handled with some expertise.
They sent Melvin and Chris - exactly what the problem needed. Their website has a short resume of their technicians background which was very helpful.
Austin has a lot of plumbing companies - some good and some bad - but this one is great! S & D came through HUGE for me on New Year's Eve. The only of 5 places we called, they said they could immediately send someone to my house and Dustin was there within a half hour.
Our regulator on our gas line had to be replaced. He needed the part from a place that was closing soon and he hustled out and picked up the last one just in time.
He came back and fixed it up quickly. My gas company really got in the way of making this a simple fix, and I had to call S and D back to see if Dustin could turn around and come back to my house.
They said they would check, and Dustin called me back very fast. He was done working for the day, but said he would come back out as soon as the gas company was there.
The customer service was fantastic from start to finish, and Dustin helped keep the heat on and hot water running for my New Year's Eve and New Year's Day. S & D won my business for life today for being there at a very abnormal time of the day and year, and having a professional like Dustin go above and beyond to help out a customer in need.'''.
