JD Precision Plumbing quoted me $4800 to replace it with their warranty after they inspected it. I found the exact same water heater at Home Depot for around $570 with a 6 year warranty.

I called multiple other plumbers who quoted me around $1800 for a water heater installed with a warranty. Just an update.

My hot water heater ended up not needing to be replaced at all. There was only a crack in the plastic spigot that was screwed into the tank itself.

$15 later for a new part and it was completely fix. Much cheaper than paying $4800 fucking dollars.

Had a water filtration system installed by them, March 2022. Cost was $1000.

Had it completely replaced by different plumber in October 2022. Issues: -Attention to detail.

Just look at the picture. -There should be one more 1/4 turn shutoff valve in what he installed.

Again, look at pic. -Drain plug on bottom of filter was gooped up by installer, he stripped the plastic threads during the install process and fixed it w/putty.

-A kitchen faucet was also installed on techs first visit, he had to tighten it up when he came back to install water filter as it became loose. Guess what, it became loose again so i got under there and tightened it up with a crows foot.

Would i recommend? A resounding NO! Would i call them back to fix what i've listed above? NO, I dont' want them touching my plumbing! Repiped my home. Examined existing pipes and took pictures of connections.

Showed used fittings and rusted fittings that were used by previous plumber. Gave a decent estimate and performed the work in an extremely quick and timely manner while doing a professional job.

Quoted over $10,000 for a tankless water heater install, WITH their membership plan savings. If you hate money, please use them.

I had JD Precision Plumbing out for a minor cartridge replacement in my bathroom. I already had the cartridges.

They were professional, polite and prompt and didn't charge for the estimate - all good features I look for in a contractor. However, the price they quoted - $483 - for what the tech said would take only "20 minutes" was way out of line.

That would equate to almost $1,500 an hour for labor only as I already had the parts. Water heater not working! Vincent found the problem within minutes and went above and beyond to make sure everything else was in good working order! Very kind and polite person.

He recommended I have water heater de-scaled which I had done! I bought a service contract which will help me in the future on getting a better price! Small job replacing a vacuum breaker on an outside hose bib. Jordan was nice, professional, quick and knowledgeable.

NONONONONONONO!!!! I can't believe it. The permit on my door during the project said it cost $12,000 for the plumbing done by Precision, finished recently, and after taking readings the last few days in the evening and the next morning,(the timing was so I could be sure there was no water use) THERE IS STILL WATER USE THAT HAS NOT BEEN USED BY ME.

I do not know whether it is a leak or a diversion, but I'm having to pay for every gallon of it. The water company has told me that is will issue partial credit for only the two months sent in (after waiting for two normal monthly readings) so this latest turn of events means this expense is all on me.

When I called for service I was told there is a $175.00 service call charge and would be I would be credited this amount if work is done.. I'm thinking it can not cost much over $175.00 to fix.

I'm not home due to a surgery and have buddy relaying info to me. I think ok, the $791.00 less the the $175.00 so $616.00 to me.

(wrong again). I not only get charged 791.00! they added 3% for using a credit card.

Now I'm at $815.00 to fix. I try getting justifiaction on charges from their operations manager only to be told JD Precision plumbing is so big and they have higher overhead than any other plumbers, therefore have higher costs for service.

I call BS. I had a sinkhole in front of my house, I called JD Precision Plumbing they said they would come and give me a free estimate to find out why there was a sink hole.

when the guy came he told me he needed to run a camera which it would cost me $507 but if something needed to be fixed that money would go towards the cost. He ran the camera and came back telling me my storm drainage was broken he told me it would cost me $4,500 to fix it and insisted for me to contract his services right there in there.

I told him I needed to see other options but he kept insisting telling me that if I didn't do it now it would cost me more. I didn't get his services and called other plumber.

my pipe was never broken it was my neighbors pipe that was broken and it was affecting my side of lawn. the whole thing costed me 1,107 for something that was never even my problem.

Only because JD Precision Plumbing lied about my pipe being broken. I called to report the issue and for a reimbursement of my $507 and they ignored me.

Very patient with my questions. He was able to identify the problem, solve it and give me options to consider without being pushy.

Will be calling them anytime I need work done. Had them install some sink hardware in the kitchen and 2 bathrooms and while they did a good job, cleaned up after and professional, they were incredibly expensive (over $1000 and I already had the new faucets.) While here I asked them to give me a quote on a new garbage disposal: $1400! Instead I purchased the exact same disposal from Lowe's for less than $300 and had them install it for $150.

There's just no reason for their high prices. Absolutely the best service I've ever had on an appliance! Zach Wooton was so knowledgeable and experienced for someone so young.

Figured line needed roto to clear the line. After MAJOR work and thousands more than I needed to spend, they dug up my yard and tore apart my deck to repair a small hole in cast iron pipe.

Now, about a week after completion, I'm having the same EXACT issue. Toilet backing up into tub.

I'm not happy. Corey Fox stopped by and installed a new toilet and hauled off the old one in no time.

Fast response, fast and friendly service. He left the area cleaner than he found it.

I never paid a penny to this company but their estimate (by Austin) was ridiculously outrageous including completely unnecessary work as proven by independent plumbers and by the equipment manufacturer. Called to have a cartridge replaced in my bathroom sink.

I had the part, it should have taken 30 minutes. The tech did a home inspection and came up with over $6k in repairs, including a membership to JD Plumbing and 2 new water heaters, (which work just fine) after an hour of upselling me.

We finally got to the job at hand and he wanted to charge me $547 to change a sink handle cartridge. Still not repaired.

All I wanted was a simple fix for my sink. Just a plumber, not a salesman.

I had 3 plumbing companies come out and give me an estimate for the repairs needed. JD Precision Plumbing won my business not due to price but Ron's knowledge.

Ron is a plumber with JDPP and his initial assessment of the plumbing in my older home was spot on. He knew what was needed to repair my faucets, told me upfront about the possible complications and risk due to age, and walked me thru the repair process.

He showed up on time and performed the repairs like the professional he is. Fantastic service from a professional plumber.

We had a single pipe break in two places during the recent winter storm. The two plumbers who came out were both courteous and professional.

The work performed was decent, although it looked rather sloppy in the attic and they didn't bother to add an insulation sleeve, even though the previous pipe had it on there. In addition, the price was bordering on gouging considering it took 45 minutes to fix and was nearly double what others were charging in the area.

I would definitely look elsewhere in the future. I cannot praise this company enough.

Yes, they are pricey, but I really think they are worth it. We woke up on a Saturday to a bathroom sink full of water and overflowing onto our floor.

Turning off the water did nothing. Matthew from JD Precision came out that afternoon and immediately knew that it was due to our A/C condensation not properly draining.

He drained the water, cleaned the drain pipes, and gave us tips on how to prevent it happening in the future. It did cost us $325, which probably is high, but he was efficient, clean, and respectful.

He then looked at a couple of other issues (no charge) for us that we had been planning to get a contractor out for. He could have easily "taken us for a ride" on a couple of them, but he was totally straightforward and honest about what he saw and told us we could wait on repairs (and, save our money!).

THEN, as he was leaving (and we had already gone inside), he went and checked our septic system for us. We had told him that our septic sprinklers had been going off a ridiculous number of times a day but that our maintenance company had told us everything looked fine.

It took him less than one minute to find a hose that was not properly attached to the aerator pump. He obviously had no obligation to go out of his way to go look at our septic system - the fact that he did was just so kind.

He also sent someone else out (again, no charge) to be sure we didn't have a leak somewhere as we had what appeared to be water damage on our ceiling. That gentleman (who was also extremely polite and knowledgeable) took one look and said we are totally fine.

I absolutely recommend them!! I haven't had water in three days due to a pipe bursting from the recent freezing temperatures. I called JD two days ago and today was their earliest appointment.

The weather forecast is the same today as it was at the time they scheduled this appointment. We've been waiting for them to show up, yet nobody came today.

I called three times, and I keep getting an answering service for JD, who told me that apparently JD is closed today. If I would have known, I would have obviously scheduled another plumber.

The state of Texas is in the middle of a water emergency, people are in real need, and unreliable company's like this are just making it worse for the entire state. I encourage everyone reading this review to think very carefully about the current circumstances and whether this is the type of company you can rely on when you have a real plumbing emergency.

Please also note that the idea that the roads are not safe enough to drive didn't prevent either of my direct neighbors from finding respectable plumbing companies to service their homes today, nor did it prevent my community in Spring from being on the roads themselves today. TWO separate companies followed through on their commitment to their customers in a time of great need, whereas JD was nowhere to be found.

The idea that they didn't even extend the courtesy of telling me they weren't showing up today shows a serious lack of professionalism and just how little they care about their customers, especially in such dire circumstances. Bottom line is that I will never allow them to step foot in another one of my personal properties in Texas, nor any of my commercial properties, and I encourage everyone else to do the same.

The fact that a plumbing business would sit on the sidelines during such a crisis blows my mind. Fortunately, other, more reputable, plumbing companies have stepped up during this state emergency.

We had JD Plumbing come out to provide an estimate for pipe repairs. Their estimate was 4 times higher than other estimates.

I see others posting about gauging and wanted to confirm it based on our recent experience. The owner is a very nice man (Jerry David).

They take care of business and are fair. They are a little more pricey than some other companies but when it comes to plumbing you really can't take chances.

Better to get it done right than spend so much fixing mistakes. In all honestly you can't go wrong with this company.

Will use again. Backstory: I called them after being charged almost $500 by another company who up sale and charged me before inspection and kept giving me more things to inspect.

I finally asked them to leave. JD was everything I expected and their tech was professional and helpful.

JD Precision advised my elderly father in-law he needed a new pipe. No leak detected and charged him $7,000 to replace 50 feet of pipe that was perfectly fine.

In the process, they destroyed the sprinkler system and left it in ruins after attempting to fix it 3 additional trips. Took advantage of the elderly and basically, charged $500 an hour (when broken down over time).

Told right away, they don't charge hourly BUT who makes $500 a hour to replace ONE pipe. Never use the company off of FM 1488.

475 to unclog a water softener? He said it would take 30 minutes or so? Are you kidding me? We told him to go away and find another sucker out there. My landlord scheduled an appointment for JD Precision Plumbing to come out and evaluate the replacement of a shower fixture and repair of a faucet.

I took an entire afternoon off of work for the evaluation. We scheduled the repair for 3 days later.

I then take an entire morning off of work for the repair...the technician was supposed to be at my home by 9 am. Almost 10 am and no technician.

I call to find out where my technician is and they tell me that they weren't able to reach my landlord for payment prior to the service so they weren't coming out! No phone call, no communication whatsoever! If I hadn't called myself I would have never known what was going on. I was able to reach my landlord and take care of the payment that morning...they then call to tell me that my technician is going to be there in 30-40 minutes.

1 hour 10 minutes go by with no technician...and again no phone call. I once again call them to find out where my technician is! He finally shows up and thank God he was quick and did a great job! I had the service manager call me so I could make him aware of the events.

He promptly let me know that he was aware...and was very ignorant about it. My conversation with him was like talking to a brick wall so I finally just hung up on him.

While the technician was great the support staff was absolutely horrendous...and the service manager even worse! Beware! Gas co. said I have a leak and shut it off.

I learned later that this company's techs are on commission (a serious conflict of interest), which seemed, to me, result in him saying my 60 plus foot line HAD to be replaced for almost $4,000. There was no test, just a proposal.

Suspicious, I called in another company that performed an actual pressure test. That test quickly and easily revealed a leak (which I saw and understood), and it wasn't where gas company indicated it would be.

Bottom line: my line is grandfathered, and company number TWO is coming back to repair the leaking spot. Obviously, this new company, NOT JD Precision, is my best alternative.

As a widow and single mom, my daughters safety is priority. So when it was discovered that a potentially dangerous issue needed repair, Jordan was out to my home within a couple of hours, after dark.

He put me at ease about not having any gas to heat my home during a hard freeze, overnight. I trusted his experience about keeping my pipes from freezing and we made it through the cold night without damage.

First thing the next morning, Jodon accompanied and helped Jordon take care of all my indoor gas appliances and pilot lights. Both men wore shoe coverings in the house and were very respectful.

Broken main water line to the house. 2 of them (which guarantee 24 hour emergency service) had answering service recordings.

JD Precision has a "live" answering service and got Taylor on the phone right away to help us. I could not have asked for more outstanding service.

Taylor diagnosed and repaired the problem and then checked all exterior faucets to make sure everything was in perfect working order. I will never use anyone but JD Precision Plumbing again.

I refer everyone that has a plumbing issue to JD precision! These guys were so great really went above and beyond to help me with my sink not draining would use them again and again They do not charge by time but by "job". Make sure you get an upfront quote.

I had a 90 degree elbow that needed replacing due to the freeze. My husband had already put in a diverter valve so we had water as I waited for this repair about a month.

The access was cut and the leak had been identified. The water was already off to the repair.

All the plumber had to do was cut out the old elbow, clean it and sweat in a new elbow with a few inches of 1/2" copper pipe. The charge was an appalling $38340.

They gave me a $50 discount and a $42.59 member savings as I was a prior customer for a whooping $333.40 for about 30 min of work. The work was done fine, the price was about double what it should have been.

We have used JD Precision Plumbing 3 times in the last couple of months after moving into a 16 year old house that apparently has a lot of deferred maintenance issues. Replaced two water heaters with a tankless unit (16 year old water heaters full of sand nearly killed the two guys getting them out of the attic, but no complaining), kitchen faucet that was frozen in place (he got it off without dynamite), and today a leak under a bathroom sink from a seriously clogged AC drain line.

Daniel Webster came today. Each time the guys were very professional, cleaned up everything, were willing to answer my questions and did great work.

I highly recommend them. Great response for an after hours call for my ceiling leaking through the 2nd floor and down to the 1st floor.

The technician was able to stop the leak and the next day he came back with the part and changed it very quickly and efficiently. AND it was a very reasonable price.

I had a pleasant experience with JD Precision Plumbing during purchase of a water heater. However, the present repair call was not acceptable.

The issue with my water heater entailed the burner shutting off within 5 - 10 minutes of lighting. The tech, Zach and another (who was later identified as the owner's son) responded to the call 12-3:00 window at 3:40 and was able to duplicate the issue....burner shutting off after about 5 - 10 minutes.

While they were in my attic working on heater, I called up to let them know I would be right back, i was going to let my dogs out. When I returned to the garage, Zach was down from the attic and had opened the door to my home.

When questioned, he asked me to turn on water to see if it was hot. I did but told him the heater has not heated the water so it would not be hot.

I terminated the call when he told me he needed access to my house to diagnose the water heater issue. I contacted a manager to share my concerns with no acknowledgement of my concern.

Their employee OPENED the door of my home and was more interested in gaining access to my home than working on the water heater in the attic. The manager referenced the "owner of the son".

Following this situation, I contacted RHEEM support and they easily diagnosed the problem (gas control valve) and are mailing me the part. I will contact another company to install.

This incident was both unacceptable and alarming. Very professional and helpful.

Get out your wallet!! These guys are outrageously expensive! Quoted me $285 to install a garbage disposal (just the installation -- I supplied the new disposal). I reluctantly agreed to pay $250 after some haggling, since this is a rental house and I did not want to further inconvenience my tenant.

The installation took maybe 45 minutes and the work was fine. Out of curiosity, I checked around afterward and got multiple quotes of ~$100.

Shame on me! I won't be using these guys again! Landmark Home Warranty company referred us to them for a new faucet install due to possible corrosion. We just wanted to replace the faucet with a similar faucet we already had.

After weeks of trying to get a fair and firm price for a faucet ( even allowing for their mark up on the price of the faucet, we understand busineses need to make a profit too) we were given a price on Friday, we called on Monday to schedule the install and were informed by our warranty company that Precision decided to no longer allow us to purchase the faucet from them. We have tried to get an answer from Precision for this decision, and have not received any responses back.

Alyx ( not sure if she is the owner) was extremely unprofessional. We feel that this company puts profit before people, and we feel as if this was a "punishment" by Precision given to us for simply trying to advocate for ourselves for a fair price on a faucet, after we were given several different prices, some at exhorbitant costs.

We were clear and concise with our faucet options, we even attached pictures and descriptions with screen shots from Home Depot to make it easier for Precision. We did everything we were asked to do by both our warranty company and Precision in a timely manner.

horrible! This company has turned into a complete scam. Ever since the freeze this company has decided to increase their prices 60 to 70%.

When one of their plumbers comes to your house, all they try to do is upsell you and give you things you do not need. If you just have a valve that needs to be changed or a toilet that might be clogged, they immediately tell you that they will probably have replace the whole pipe to the valve and replace your toilet.

I suggest everybody to pass on this company, there are many other plumbers in the Houston/Spring area that are fair and not greedy. The ownership of this company should truly be embarrassed in which the way they try to drain people's wallets to the best of their ability by giving them things they don't need, and by making jobs more complicated than they actually are (at a jacked up rate) so the customer has to spend more money.The increase of this company's prices is not due to shortages or supply chains, it is strictly a matter of greed and seeing how much they can get from each customer.

Honestly, shame on them for the way they are doing their business because they haven't always been this way. Buyer beware.

My experience with JD Precision Plumbing goes as follows: 1. Back at the end of 2017 I had what seemed to be a blocked drainage pipe from my washing machine so water back-flowed into the house.

Bad new. Okay, so I call JD.

2. The plumber comes out and tries to snake the pipe with no luck.

That job costs $345 and we still don't have a clear drain pipe. Darn.

3. So he tears into the wall, installs a cleanout so he can use a heavier duty snake.

Still no luck! Darn! That job costs $600, I have 2 giant holes in my wall, and I still don't have a clear drain pipe. 4.

At this point, the plumber determines that the problem is not a clog in the pipe. No! It's a "belly" in the pipe, which causes water to pool and will cost several thousands to fix.

Wow. Darn.

Okay. So not only do I have 2 giant holes in my wall that the plumber isn't going to fix, but I also have a hefty new diagnosis i.e.

the problem is WAY WORSE than I imagined. And In order to fix this alleged "belly," the plumber will need to go on an exploratory hunt for my pipe, locate the belly somewhere in my yard potentially under concrete, yada, yada, blah blah blah.

All of that will cost in the ballpark of 2K or maybe 5K or maybe more--who the hell knows? Point is, even with this dire diagnosis, I have very little info about the problem and the location thereof and the pricing thereof after I've already spent nearly $1000. 6.

After the plumber leaves, I feel completely taken for a ride. I contact JD to see if there's anything they can do because this style of pricing, whereby the customer gets taken unwittingly on an expensive journey feels wrong somehow.

Also, there's 2 giant holes in my wall. When I finally speak to a human, it is like speaking to a recording with a bad attitude.

He is curt, unapologetic, and offers me nothing beyond the company line. K cool.

7. Over the past year, the issue has persisted because I could not fathom the idea of paying untold thousands of dollars for a sketchy-seeming mission to rip up my yard.

Turns out, that was for the best. Cut to today, where, with the purchase of an $11 plumbing bladder from Home Depot, I am able to discover that the other end of the pipe abuts an entire foot of dirt/grass/roots.

So there was a clog, just not anywhere near where the plumber's snake could reach. Moral of the story: there was not a "belly" and my problem was solved by an $11 plumbing tool that surely a plumber has heard of.

The pipe is now clear and I ran my first load of laundry in years that has not backed water into my house. Thanks JD Precision Plumbing! JK.

It's hard not to look at the events and see that before worst-case scenario-ing me, the plumber should have been slightly more creative. To the tune of $11.

Also, the holes in my wall that cost me $600 were unnecessary. David with JD came out same day I called.

He was efficient at what he did getting the drain unclogged and honest and transparent on what he was doing and what we can expect moving forward. I will definitely be using them in the future for my plumbing needs.

Used JD plumbing to replace kitchen faucet. David explained everything, was very professional and did a fantastic job.

The company even sent a Bio of the plumber who was coming. David had a business card for me as soon as I opened the door to introduce himself.

GREAT SERVICE! We had a leak in our downstairs powder room. Called around 9am to get someone to come out for a quote or to fix it if possible.

They first told me it would be early afternoon before someone could come out, but later called and told me they could have someone out before noon. Met with David and he told me we needed a new toilet due to a hairline fracture in the bowl as well as leaking from the underside.

Made a trip to Lowes as soon as possible and called back to ask if they could come install it ASAP. It's now 3:45pm, on the same day we found the leak..

and we have a newly installed leak-free toilet. I couldn't be happier with the service! I recently had a bathroom sink overfow and flood a couple of rooms.

JD Precision plumbing provided an appointment, but also said that they would be earlier, if possible. Thankfully, they were able to arrive early, and with their specialized equipment, were able to clear the problem.

David was also able to provide info on how to do some preventative maintainence to avoid future clogs. David was very knowledgable and provided advice on some other projects.

Had a Plumbing emergency needed the next day, I contacted a few plumbers via message and email on Yelp. After Priority 1 Plumbing promised to call me the next day after 8am, but never did until 11am.

After calling a bunch of places, no one could come out after 6. After calling JD, technicians, Ron and Chad stayed in touch with timing and expectations.

Ron came out at 7 pm and did a quick fix. The timing was right and the price was very reasonable.

I had a clogged sink and spent almost an entire Saturday trying to do it myself. Home remedies of vinegar and baking soda, store purchased goods like liquid Drano and even a snake did me no good.

Our hot water heater failed on Christmas day and called them the next morning. Jeff came out that morning and quickly diagnosed the problem as a faulty gas control valve.

It is a very reputable business. They have very professional workers that explain, in detail, the work, and their costs, that they do, before they do it.

One employee, Ian, is up to date on most plumbing information. Ian helped us determine the best tankless water heater for our new home, and what to expect in the way of it's maintenance, going forward.

Only once, in 1988, was there a problem with their work. It was a gas line that they forgot to shut off before leaving a house that I was remodeling.

The house was vacant and nobody lived there. Once I found out, I called David.

He apologized and took care of the incident immediately. David Hick's Plumbing also does commercial work, as I had them do all the plumbing maintenance work at historical Trinity Episcopal Church, in downtown Houston.

Plumbers themselves were nice guys but dealing with David is a nightmare. There are too many plumbing businesses in the city to be wasting money with David Hicks.

My place is ooooold. It's a very old building.

And things tend to break. A lot.

So when my water heater went out, along with some pressure issues in the shower, the landlord called in these guys. Normally, they use some other (creepy) guy, but I'm so very thankful these guys were able to help me out.

They took a look at my water heater late in the day, so by the time they got permission to buy a new one, I had to wait til the next day. Not too big of a deal since I'd been showering at my sisters.

So the next morning, around 10am, there they were. They replaced the water heater and made little noise doing so.

I easily continued working on my own as they handled their business. And when I showed them the water pressure I was having with the shower head, they took a look at it for me AND FIXED IT.

The previous plumber that inspected it around February had a different solution: replace the piping. But the fellas at David Hicks simply cleaned it out and it's now working better than even before I moved in.

I'm sure the landlord needs to replace the pipes since this is such an old place, but this was a fast and easy solution for now. AND he cleaned out my shower head too after I insisted I'd take care of it.

Use these guys. When we first used them, they were wonderful.

Used them several times...then we had a big problem with sewage backing up. They came promptly, but without the right tools.

They farted around and tried to locate the sewage line in the yard. They got on the roof and tried.

Nothing. They gave me a bill of a little more than $500.00.

They said though they would give me a credit for that against mapping the sewer lines with a camera and that they would do it within two days. THEN they disappeared.

Still had the sewer backup with floors buckling in the house. No calls returned and no mapping.

After several days I called another company who did the mapping. They started sending me bills.

I wrote them that they did NOTHING and then offered me a credit that they (clearly) never intended to offer. They sent me bills each month with interest accruing that I had not agreed to.

Finally after more calls they agreed to accept half the original bill. I paid them.

Now I am getting bills for the other half they agreed to waive PLUS what appears to be almost two years of interest charges. I personally believe these folks are untrustworthy.

I would not refer them to my worst enemy; that would be too cruel. Avoid these plumbers!!!! I have now used David Hicks at least 5 times.

Three disposals installed at three different properties, Leaking Wax seal reinstalled in the toilet, several clogged up drains fixed. the pumbers are knowledgeable, professional and do not overcharge! High recommended! Buyer Beware! I called David HIcks Plumbing to hook up my dryer and to link a sprinkler controller to a water line.

The technician arrived at 10:20, and was done by 11:30. He had to leave mid-appointment for parts.

He didn't want to settle the bill that day, said he'd send a bill. I received an invoice for $488.

When I contested the amount, they backed off the time related to his mid-appointment trip for parts but told me the GPS record proves he was at my home otherwise. After getting ready for work post-appointment, I had to ask him to move his van so that I could get out of the driveway - he was still there.

I sent a check for $287, an amount sufficient to cover his actual time and parts. When I didn't pay in full, they reversed the adjustment and began adding finance charges.

I've have told them multiple times that I have no intention of paying the overcharge and for several months now they continue to send invoices. Bottom line, their technician showed up late, was unprepared, and then overcharged me for his time.

My advice to you is TO SETTLE THE BILL THE SAME DAY TO AVOID BEING TAKEN ADVANTAGE OF. I asked Mr.

Hicks to install a new toilet I had purchased, because the contractors from a remodel failed to set the old one on the wax seal properly (3 years ago . .

The plumber arrived the next day and installed it, new seat and all. It's a beautiful toilet (I know, I know, how can a toilet possibly be beautiful?).

And the installer did a beautiful job. The caulking around the bottom is immaculate, and the toilet works perfectly.

Thank you, David Hicks Plumbing! I have been ripped off by David Hicks Plumbing twice. The first time they replaced bathroom fixtures that didn't need to be replaced.

I wrote that off as an honest mistake. The second time I asked them to literally buy the right hose and hook up a washing machine when they were at my house doing other work.

$549.77 later had put in new plumbing to "get things up to code." The City had just had an authorized contractor replace the plumbing David Hicks Plumbing tore out. The City did this as part of a drainage line replacement to take drainage from the back of the property to the front.

When I complained about the work and the bill, David Hicks told me to talk to his employee that did the work. The employee wouldn't return my messages.

When I called David Hicks, he said I would have to meet the employee at my house and the employee would call me to set up a time. They employee didn't call.

I called again to say his employee never called, he callously stood by the fact the work was done to take the plumbing up to code. When I asked him to come out and show me why the City's work, some of which the employee left in place wasn't at code, he told me I would have to talk to the employee.

When I asked to see the permits they got from the City, required if work was being done to take the plumbing up to code, he got really nervous and explained they typically don't get permits. This puts the liability for code violations on his customers, as the work they do is not inspected by the City.

When I pointed this out, he told me he would get back to me, By get back to me, he apparently meant send me another invoice with finance charges. I am reporting David Hicks to the City and the Better Business Bureau.

DO NOT use David Hicks Plumbing. This company was recommended by a neighbor and I was so pleased.

After a constantly running toilet and a small leak in the sprinkler system earned me a $275 water bill I called for help! Ian came to the rescue. He was on time, worked efficiently, explained anything I asked about.

He repaired, then replaced, the toilet. To be fair, the repair worked, but the 50 year old toilet was still slow and weird, so I opted to replace after he repaired it! I had already bought the necessary replacement sprinkler head so he just screwed the new one in without charge.

They did a fairly minor repair to my hot water heater. Fast response, friendly service, efficient repair, at the price that I expected.

I called Hicks Plumbing a couple months ago as my toilet tank had broken, and Robert came out for a free estimate. He said he would look around to see what they had in stock for a new toilet tank, and gave me his cell number.

When he called back a day or two later, he told me he had found one -- but somehow, in the process, it had turned into a whole new toilet that had to be replaced, not just the tank part (which ups the price -- and also adds a ton more time & labor cost). I asked him to see whether he could find a toilet tank, since that was what was needed.

He said he would look again and call me back. Never did.

Over the course of a week, I called and left messages on his cell (which he had picked up before), but he ignored me completely. The needless upsell was extremely shady on his part (given how easy it is to access information on the Internet, I had already done a little research online to see how to address the problem - which is how I knew that for a two-part toilet, you can replace the parts separately).

But the ignoring me was where he truly created a lot of ill will. I actually considered getting a whole new toilet, but knew, no matter what, that I would not be calling Robert to give him the work, given that he didn't even extend me the courtesy of returning a phone call.

Poor business practice. What I don't think Robert at Hicks Plumbing gets is that things in the house will be needing plumbing and repair work generally, and what may be a small job now can build goodwill and trust so that he gets the big job later, as well as referrals and reviews.

In the end, it was good that things with Robert and Hicks Plumbing ended up the way they did, because I put way more effort into looking for a really good plumber, and found one who was absolutely amazing, honest and responsive (and this guy can count on my business and my referrals anytime). Fast response, friendly service, quick fix.

A little pricey for a sink and toilet repair. Called them on an evening and left a voicemail about a plumbing problem/emergency.

Asked them to call me back first thing in the morning so that I could make arrangements for a plumber to come out. Didn't hear from them first thing so I called them again in the morning.

Dispatcher said that they would be out that day. Plumbers showed up at 4:30.

They couldn't fix the problem that evening and assured me that they would be back the next day. By 3:30 they hadn't shown up.

I called the office and spoke with the dispatcher/receptionist. She said that the plumbers had a problem with their earlier job and that she would call them and then call me back right away so I could get an idea of when they might be to my house.

Never heard back from her. When I called back, my call went to the answering machine.

I plan on calling a new plumber as I desperately need the problem fixed. I definitely understand that things happen on plumbing jobs and they often take longer than initially planned.

My main issue is with the absolute lack of follow through on the part of the office staff. The plumbers were very nice, helpful, and cleaned up after themselves.

But when the office staff doesn't bother to call people back or schedule appointments or keep clients in the loop as to what is going on, then the quality of the plumbing is irrelevant. Most of us do not have the freedom to take days off from work hoping that at some point a plumber might show up.

Robert with Hick's plumbing came out to fix a shower leak that had been leaking down to my 1st floor for months. It really seemed like a big job.

We left him unattended and called a few hours later to check on the status. He had finished the job long ago and i was billed for only about an hour.

Robert could have charged me for several hours worth of work, but didn't. Great job and trust worthy..

Called David Hicks plumbing at 8am on Monday morning. The man I spoke to was very friendly and helpful.

My appointment was scheduled and Mike was at my home by 9am. He fixed the problem with my sink and the charge was only $140 for one hour of labor (I thought emergency plumbing services would be way more than that).

Because water had been all over the floor, it soaked through my subfloor and I had to call out a restoration company to dry it out. Mike recommended a company who was also out within the hour and who were also very knowledgable and courteous.

He even then called me later in the day to make sure I was pleased with his recommendation. I am very happy with David Hicks plumbing.

I called a multitude of plumbers...today is Friday, and I started calling Monday. Just could not get a call back, and the one plumber who did answer and call back wanted to charge me double what everyone else did (OneCall or Montrose Plumbing - do not use them!).

Hicks answered immediately, set up the appointment, told me what they charged, and showed up exactly when they were supposed to. And my toilet is finally working .

The only reason they don't earn 5 stars is that I thought their base hourly rate was slightly high compared to the others I called. But otherwise, I'll be calling them back when I need them.

It is a pleasure doing business with reputable folks who are in our Montrose neighborhood. *Just a followup to this.

We have found that the plumber Hicks sent out did not stabilize the tank at all, so it is wobbling all over the place. I admit I have only called them once to follow up (no return call), but needless to say, it is very disappointing after having had such good luck with them.

*Followup #2: after speaking with Mr. Hicks himself, the tank was stabilized that very day.

I work at a business that must provide a working bathroom for our customers! The toilet stopped working and David Hicks plumbing was here within 15 minutes of our call to them. The plumber, Mike, couldn't have been nicer or faster.

He was in and out and now we are back in business! I was also delighted to hear that the charge would be less than what he originally quoted me. Thanks David Hicks, you guys rock! First time I used Hicks they provided excellent service.

They came promptly and fixed a water heater problem professionally and courteously. They were my new favorite plumber.

Unfortunately, that was short lived. The second time I called them, for a stopped up toilet, they did not seem happy about being asked to come and they wanted to come back to do the job.

Only one man had come and he needed help since the toilet was on the third floor he said. They did not come back when they said they would or even call until several days later.

Then they said they had been trying to reach me, but my phone did not show any earlier calls from them. Bottom line--sometimes great, sometimes not so great.

Hit and miss plumber. I would try them again, but probably not for a toilet.

You know when you ask the plumber why you have low hot water pressure.....he looks over your house and says it is the shower valves. OK.

"Are you SURE it is not the water heater?"..... Yes, he is SURE.

He GUARANTEES that replacing two shower valves (which required ripping out tile.....replacing hardware....retiling shower walls.....NOT inexpensive) will fix my problem. Guess what.

Still low flow after ripping out shower valves. He relooks.

OH, I guess he does need to replace the water heater TOO!! "How much is that?"....."I don't know. It depends on how long it takes me to do it."........"Oh, well, haven't you replaced water heaters before to KNOW how long it might take?".

At the response of "I don't know how long it will take me" at 100+ dollars an hour to replace water heater, I was running for the hills. Found another provider to replace the water heater.

I was really disappointed with this company. I do not recommend David Hicks Plumbing.

I am had a very poor experience with them. It began with my being red-tagged and needing a plumber to pull a permit and bring a project up to code.

I called Hicks Plumbing a Thursday afternoon and was told I should hear from someone that afternoon. I called back on Friday when no called on Thursday and again explained my situation and was told someone should be by that afternoon.

No one came or called. I left several messages but no one return my called.

I called another plumbing company and got on their waiting list. David Hicks final called on Monday and since I hadn't heard from the other company I went them.

The plumber who came out quoted a high price for the simply repairs and charged my $175 to pull a permit. Unprompted, he told me the permit price was so high because of the shutting down of the red-light cameras in the city but when I asked if I would receive a receipt for the permit he came clean and said the $175 charge was what David Hicks charges.

I should have known then that I couldn't trust these guys and should have said "forget it" but I just wanted to get my project wrapped up. I was quoted a very high price for simple repairs and had to pay half of the project up front.

We scheduled the repair for 10am because of my needing to cut off water to my complex (although the plumber wanted to start at 8am but explained that we could do that due to the condo rules). Here I am at 12:12 and the plumber from David Hicks still hasn't shown up...I have called him twice and he was on another job and now is picking up materials for my job.

He knows that my window to have the repair completed is 10 to 1 due to the water shut off information that was shared with the other owners in the complex. The lack of professionalism to schedule his jobs properly, gouging, and general lack of communication are significant reasons that I would NEVER recommend this company to anyone.

I would cancel the job but feel trapped since I gave them a deposit for the permit...just hate being taken advantage of and feeling powerless. Worst experience with a service company EVER!!! I've used Hicks Plumbing since the 1970s.

They're on time, they're dependable, they're polite, and most importantly, they know their business which in my case includes three historical houses (c. 1865, 1920 and 1938 respectively) the first of which was born without indoor plumbing .

DO NOT USE DAVID HICKS. I purchased a house that was completed remodeled, including the plumbing.

David Hicks (Mike et al) was responsible for replumbing the entire house. Within a year of moving in, we began having leak issues with the middle bathroom and master bathroom caused by poor workmanship.

Called Mike out and he crawfished and said it must be a leak from the sprinkler system. This has resulted in mold issues and damage to the hard wood floors.

After turning in to my homeowners insurance ($ 5,000 deductable) they tunneled under the house to repair the leaking drain in the tub. In addition, it was determined that the sewer line connction had disconnected because it was not properly installed.

Thought that was the end, but no--it was not the only issue. Now, with more mold and water issues, and another leak test in the master shower, the contractor is back and has ripped out the tile floor, marble and limestone for the shower.

Guess what, the drain fixture was never glued or sealed to the drain pipe. Also, the water lines for the middle bathroom sinks both have small leaks resulting in new mold issues and are being replaced.

Raymond and crew came out July 10 and overcharged for reinstalling a toilet. It's over 2 weeks later, and still no invoice or warranty.

What they did right: 1. Raymond responded on the phone right away.

Came out a few hours later on a Saturday. His crew came by an hour and wrapped up in less than an hour.

2. Raymond was fairly patient on answering questions, easy to understand, and had a part 1 & part 2 plan if the leak was not resolved.

3. The toilet leak fixed.

Why I'm giving them a low review (with screenshots to supplement) 1. Raymond charged $250 to reseat a toilet with two wax rings.

In total, those two wax rings and caulking definitely cost less than $10. It took ~30 minutes of labor so I suppose the hourly rate was $200+? I would understand a weekend surcharge, but that is still overpriced.

2. Raymond was fine with me paying with credit card, and said to give him a call to pay after the service if his crew didn't have a processor on them.

The crew didn't, so I texted him to arrange payment. Suddenly he wanted Zelle or Cashapp.

I said I didn't have those. He promised to call in a few...and ended up calling the next day instead (at an inconvenient time).

I sat around with my credit card ready for several hours before I put it away. 3.

He promised to send me the invoice & warranty documents the next day. I sent him a reminder Sunday, Tues, Wed.

He replied to each of those, but on Thursday & Friday & Sat - he stopped responding. I'm assuming he never will.

I recognize he thinks his service is done, but it's not done until you provide all the promised deliverables. On a separate note, he offered to connect me with his drywall guy, but never offered any names/contact which makes me suspicious that he would inflate the drywall guy's project price and take a cut.

This has happened to me before, and I ended up paying thousands more for the work than if I had hired directly. Perhaps this is common in the construction industry, but I do not condone this practice.

If you don't care about getting a reasonable price and getting the receipt & warranty for tax purposes and keeping documentation on your house, Raymond's fine and gets the job done. But for the premium price, I was expecting better customer service.

Namely, promptness in the invoicing & no resistance on paying with the already agreed upon method of credit card. I was not going to write this review just for the price - I had agreed upon it beforehand...but the overall experience I think warrants warning others.

Raymond responded right away and answered all of my questions (I had many). Raymond was patient and always responsive although he knew that I was in the beginning stages of my research.

I decided to go with Raymond for the job. His crew arrived promptly at the time they said, wore masks and shoe covers, protected my carpet with tarp and vacuumed afterwards.

They were courteous, informative and professional. They explained what I needed to do for maintenance and showed us the emergency shut off device and the added descaler filter.

I was very pleased and would recommend them for any plumbing needs. Called about a drain that needed snaking.

Team was out within 4 hours. Prompt, courteous and reasonably priced.

Would definitely use again Raymond with JR Plumbing did a fairly large job for me. He went in through my brick to get to a clogged pipe.

I highly recommend them and won't call another plumber in the future. Our bathroom sink was making a loud growling sound they diagnosed the problem from me recording the sound and quite me a price before they came out giving that it's still COVID.

When they came they had mask and shoe covering I even ask he if could fix our broken sprinkler valve so I got two thing fix for a great price. Definitely will use again.

We purchased a water heater less than a year ago on March 26, 2021 from Lanco Plumbing. We also purchased the warranty they sold us.

The less than one year old water heater broke yesterday. After four calls, one text and one BBB report we have yet to receive one call from them.

Neutral: Not informed by scheduler that hourly rate begins when staff begins drive to destination. Cons: Total time to install 4 bathroom sink faucets was 8 hours over 2 separate visits.

First of all, at plumber's recommendation, he corrected a previous error in sealing under sink pipe. Also, a downtime of 2 sinks resulted while awaiting mail delivery of 2 pop-up drain replacements as recommended by plumber.

Although the plumber stated that there was nothing wrong with the current faucets (and they functioned properly), he took all the original 4 faucets and 2 original pop up drains with him when he left. On a follow-up call to the office the next day, the company stated that the faucets have been trashed.

I hate having to call a plumber but I've been using Lanco for years. They are almost always able to get here in a timely manner ( unless there is a major community wide issue) and do the job quickly and at a reasonable price.

I didn't believe a word and called Lanci who is used exclusively by 3 of my neighbors. The following morning Chris and Sam arrived and after 10 minutes said it's probably the P Trap.

They cut into sheet rock., Found big stress crack in P Trap. Took 15 mins to go and get replacement.

Fixed it up. Bill very reasonable.

Still a good company.. I have had Lanco complete a a couple of of repairs in the past and they just installed a water heater for me today.

I have always found them to be professional and they get the work done quickly (e.g. I called about the water heater yesterday and they were able to get it done today).

Their prices are fair, and their office staff is very knowledgeable as well. I spoke to Fran several times to set up the appointment and she was very knowledgeable about the work that needed to be done.

After working with them a few times over the course of 4 years or so, I can confidently recommend Lanco! Lanco over- charges and workers dawdle while racking up big charges for next to nothing. They appear to pull the old bait-and-switch tactic.

Expect a $500 bill to unclog a kitchen drain. Their front office/ customer service lady ain't no lady either.

She may have anger management issues. Lanco always does an awesome job and their prices are very reasonable.

Wes is great in explaining exactly what is going on and what needs to be done to repair it without charging you for unnecessary work. I had a water leak right at my water main and feared this would be an expensive repair.

I was given a quote for $99 Hr to find a leak in my yard. The employee-owner was the one that gave me the quote on Sept 30, 2016.

I called in and requested to be set up ASAP but wanted the owner to come that had quoted me the price so that there was no change of price or misunderstanding on the per hour quote. He showed up late and also brought "a helper." I was NOT told I would be paying $140 per hour now.

Nothing was EVER mentioned of added charger. Imaging $40 per hour for a helper??? Not a plumber.

Oddly enough my leak had been fixed while I was at work by a relatives friend 36 hours before. I was unaware since I was staying with friends while my water was off.

The owner of Lanco admitted my meter wasn't turning rapidly but for the next 2 hours continuous to peruse a leak. He came into my residence and looked at the toilets and said the problem was my flapper which a contractor had just changed in May.

He precedes to scrape "residue" from under the flapper then ask for food coloring. He dropped food coloring in my tank after the fact of "scraping such debris off" then saying it was a toilet flapper leak.

He then moved to two other toilets and immediately drop food coloring in the tank before instead of after so the first toilet was inaccurate since he did "scraping before testing to see if there was truly a leak. He proceeds to lie to me.

His "helped" stood around on several occasions while he (owner) spent 45 minutes looking for any other possible leaks in the home and 15 minutes in his van writing invoice from his iPad. When I was asked to sign the bill on the iPad which I couldn't see due to the darkness of the device and the sun glaring down i asked what the charges were and he then told me the "helper was $40 hour.

I saw he charged me for 3 toilet flappers and questioned him. He stammered around when questioned of (3) being installed.

I them asked " Are you sure?" He looked at his helper and you could tell he knew the truth. But reluctantly agreed while also stammering in knowing he hadn't change them all.

They drive away while I went to the toilets and found only one changed while being charged for 2. I called the office and the secretary contacted them to return.

This company had the nerve to try to charge me for a 1/2 hour labor $50 to fix what they didn't do. This took less than 2 minutes to do both the others, however he stalled upstairs since I wasn't watching them so he could try to justify the time.

When he told me he had to charge me!???!! I asked what he was talking about. Just to end this let's just say he told me the office said he had to charge me.

REALLY???? I contacted his sister (co-owner) she was extremely rude and told me she would wave the charge this time but to take my business elsewhere next time and hung up. I was the one getting screwed over here! So I phoned her which they let go to voicemail on purpose so I left a message that I was disputing the $40 HR and putting this on every social media site.

Guess what?? I get a phone call back not recognizing the voice since it didn't sound like the same rude and unprofessional person. She admitted she and her brothers (owners) were wrong on trying to rip me off as well as failing to tell me the heller was extra $40 HR.

I listened to her try to back peddle just to get me to not expose this crooked company. I opted out of her wasting my time to save from making this public.

Guess what leaking again. Instead of backing up their work and fixing the problem the lady gave me every reason why it should be leaking.

I call them and they sent out a tech same day.in an attempt to isolate the leak he turned off main valve to house. Then advised me that wasn't main valve.

I've called Lanco for numerous plumbing issues, large and small. I was pleased that a plumber could usually come out in less than 24 hours.

They did reliable work in a short amount of time so their charges were competitive. Nowadays they seem to have fewer plumbers on staff, the organization seems more slipshod, and the work not worth their higher fees.
