A #1 Tech Hunter and his assistant If I could give a lower review I would! The technicians have been great but the customer service has been horrible!!!! I've been asking for a supervisor for 2 days! Just reviewed their BBB COMPLAINTS. Is there anyone in charge of this company.
I have never experienced anything like this in my life. WHO IS IN CHARGE OF THIS COMPANY - I still have not heard from a supervisor.
This is infuriating and I feel helpless. I want them to come and get this unit out of my house so I can deal with a real company that values their customers! This is insane! Look at their BBB reviews!!! Still have not heard back - it's 5:03pm - Customer service said they do not know this individual who responded to my yelp post! Booked them to add some refrigerant to our HVAC System.
They mentioned they operate on an open schedule. But, the technician did not show up on the scheduled day.
I got a text message around 7:45 pm that the technician is heading to my property and I know that it takes them 20 minutes to an hour to get there which would be around 8:30pm in the evening. This was unexpected and unacceptable.
When I called them, the customer rep was very rude. Seyi A.
Was my tech that replaced my water heater today. I have used this company for heating ac for years without any issues.
And today I can say that the plumbing department is just as amazing. My tech was quick to arrive when he promised and was very professional.
10 stars! We have solely used A#1 for years. Our smaller unit was making a noise & our bigger unit stopped working a couple of days ago.
The technician that came out last Friday immediately told me that my units need to be replaced. They are 'too old at 10 years AND there is a government mandate happening next year'.
I told him that I didn't want to replace them. And, what would the cost be to fix them? He, then, starts his path of belittling my intelligence.
He lets me know that IF I just choose to repair them, then I'm wasting my money. I asked again what the cost would be to REPAIR them.
He reminds me again of the government mandate. Once again, I asked what needed to be fixed.
He goes outside to inspect them. He, then, comes back in to let me know that the motor and a few other parts needed to be replaced on BOTH.
To repair each unit, it would be over $4,000. I was shocked.
He also let me know that I needed to replace my furnace because it was over 20 years old. I was confused & said that my house isn't even 20 years old & we replaced it in 2012.
He continued to belittle me by telling me that my math was off because he just inspected it. Then, he tells me yet again that I need to replace my units as repairing them would be a waste of money.
I shared with him that they weren't even the original units with the house & I just don't understand how they are in bad enough shape that they can't just be REPAIRED instead of REPLACED. He, then, encouraged me to go with another company because 'A#1 Air was clearly too expensive for us.' UM.
I replied by saying that we had always used them & that we would start by repairing the large unit. He said that he would order the part & let me know when he would be back out.
He also shared that it was Friday, so it FOR SURE wouldn't be that afternoon. And, gosh, it's the weekend, so probably not at all until the following week, but he would let me know that afternoon when it would be scheduled.
I never heard from him or A#1 Air again. SO, I did just what he advised me to do...
I called another company. The smaller unit only needed to have bolts tightened to stop the fan noise and the big unit only needed a motor.
And, that company already had the part IN their truck! Wow! What a concept?!? My two units were fully repaired in 30 minutes. He said that they were both in good shape.
I paid $759 total including their service call fee. Shame on you, A#1 Air!!!!! I was in a panic for a whole 24 hours over the $4,000 in alleged repairs needed, plus the prospect of my units being in such terrible shape that they needed to be replaced.
We will NEVER use this company again, and your poorly trained tech, Nic, was right after all - we DID need to go with a cheaper option. I had an issue and A#1 Air resolved it.
As a customer, I feel that my needs and the needs of my family were important to them. They came to my home quickly and we are enjoying the nice cool ac once again! Still waiting for Korey Jackson to return my call.
I'm in this for the long run. I'd highly consider you move on the another company.
There is a lot of quality service providers and this is obvious one you'll want to stay away from. Will update soon.!! We called A1 Air to look at our air conditioner because it wasn't cooling the house.
The technician came out the same day even though he was totally booked....he squeezed us in. Scott L was personable, efficient and knowledgeable about his job.
Scott had us back in comfortable temperatures in no time...and at a minimal cost. We would use them again.
Helen S - Mckinney,Tx A Sign of the Times- Writing this on behalf of my 84 yr old Mother in law. Her daughter and I live 6 houses down and look out for her.
We were unavailable when her AC stopped cooling. She called A#1 and they came a few hours later.
She called me later when I was around and asked that I come down. The A#1 guy said she needed maybe a new compressor and some other things and was pushing her towards spending upwards to $16k.
I am pretty handy and do most of my own minor repairs, so I asked him to replace the capacitor since the outside fan/compressor was not running. BTW, these are $45 at Locke (Denton).
Took 5m to replace and everything worked fine. I am not blaming the tech as I think this is what most AC companies do now (push for unnecessary sales), especially to the elderly.
So $500 later for a $45 cap replacement, shame on you guys....and shame on your business model. Had a new Rheem unit installed in December 2021.
Several months later, noticed that the fan seemed louder than it had in the past (it is right outside of our master bedroom window). Called A#1 Air, who put the unit in less than a year before, just to make sure nothing was wrong.
Tech was onsite for 2-3 hours, claims the compressor is out, needs to be replaced, but we are liable for the $1600 for refrigerant. Mind you, the unit was pumping out cold air with no issue, however, nothing was said about the noise of the fan motor.
Ignored the request to replace the compressor as there was nothing wrong with it. Fast forward to spring of 2024, the unit stops cooling.
Had a separate HVAC guy come out. He looks the unit over and, per my description of the issue (cooling most of the day, but not in the heat of the afternoon), figures out the machine is doing a high pressure lockout, the fan motor is not kicking to the high stage.
Call A#1 Air as it is still under warranty, a senior tech named Mr. Woods, who is the only person that is worth a damn at this company, hooks up a temp motor to get cooling again while we wait for a new part.
Also had him test the compressor, which he showed to be perfectly fine. Unit starts cooling immediately.
New part arrives three weeks later, brought out to install, but the tech notices it is damaged. Leaves on the temp motor, but has to order a new part.
After another two weeks, it stops cooling again. A tech is sent out on a Saturday to check things out.
Stands by the unit for less than a minute, before informing me the compressor is out, but, again, we are responsible for the refrigerant at $1600. I've already been through this once so I know you have to actually test the compressor; this yahoo touched nothing.
Called again and got client relations involved, as I am not happy. Informed the part is in and will be scheduled out for Tuesday, and that, "the compressor could be out because if the fan motor is out, it can cause the compressor to burn out." Had a separate company working on our downstairs unit the day of installation of the fan motor.
He tests the compressor and shows it is working perfectly fine. So this is the second time this company "misdiagnosed" an issue to gouge you for refrigerant, which I have since found three separate companies sell for $85-$89/pound, not the $169/pound A#1 Air claims is the going rate.
Techs from A#1 arrive, test compressor, which they confirm is perfectly fine, install new motor, and add an after-market switch of some sort for $400. Things start cooling again.
Here we are, less than a month since the new fan motor and switch were installed, and this PoS is busted again. This time, a tech came out, found the breaker is being tripped.
Unhooked the compressor and it works fine; hook up the compressor and the breaker trips. Compressor is ACTUALLY out this time.
Guess what? I'm liable for the $1500 for refrigerant. Call client relations again, who assures me the issues will be brought to the attention of management.
She just called and they want to drop the price from $1500 to $1100. I am beyond pissed.
Had this crap company done their job to begin with, they might have known the motor was going out a year ago, but they are more concerned with scamming people into thinking their compressor is out so they can get you to pay sorely inflated prices on refrigerant. Had the motor been properly changed two years ago, would my compressor still be cooling today? I guess we will never know.
Stay away from this company. Reviewed them on Google and was the given the usual response to call the client relations team.
Per that response to call the client relations team, my wife called was told by a young lady, "I'm reading through the notes and Corey, the manager, said 'they aren't getting anymore money.'" This is the most unprofessional company I have ever had the displeasure of dealing with. My A/C went out.
Was a problem BUT "Alexis" came out , fixed, and answered all the question we had. Did the service needed.
Answered more questions without problem and was glad he could help. He represents his company well and I'm glad we chose A#1 AIR for our business.
He' s a keeper and I would recommend him for any part of A#1 Service . Someone from Plumbing told us there was a program that we could for vote for our person for a $$reward.
Caryn Trees-Hurst TX Stay away from this company. There's nothing free so don't think that.
Requested service and was lied to several times that day they were on the way. They've hours nothing so we went somewhere else.
Sucked because my wife took off work and they never showed up. Then they offered a free thermostat???? My thermostat is fine you never entered my house and you're trying to fake free me stuff.
BEWARE!!! and FOLLOW any A#1 technician that comes to your home. On Friday Jul 12, "Jake" responded to call for a check of our AC system, after it stopped working the day before.
I went into the attic to check the HVAC unit on July 11 when the malfunction occurred. All ducts were intact.
When A#1 Jake went into the attic to check, he came down reporting there was a tear in the duct causing air to release into the attic area. He then presented an estimate of several thousand dollars to affect repair.
Also, Jake INSISTED on talking to my elderly sister instead of with the male of the household, who stood firm against Jake. The result, Jake became testy and went away in a huff because his SCHEME to get a high priced sale didn't work.
There was NOTHING WRONG with the duct work. Now there was a significantly torn duct the day after???!!! CONSUMER LESSON: FOLLOW these technicians around, even if you have to get someone to climb the stairs to the attic! Take a photo of your system so if any technician should attempt to vandalize your property to get a big dollar sale, you have your proof.
Senior citizens DON'T BE PRESSURED. Bill N and Elizabeth R I would leave a zero if this website would allow it.
A#1Air came out and gave me an estimate to replace a split-system HVAC unit for my garage. Their bid came to $8,878.
This seemed very high so I made sure to get another bid from a local DFW company. The second bid came in at $5,800, and included a Trane unit vs.
Darkin (A#1Air bid). The unit was exactly the same size (2.5 ton), and the job was completed w/o any additional charges.
I would tell anyone looking for HVAC work to avoid A#1Air. This type of business practice should not be rewarded.
A#1 cleared a bathroom drain clog by using a snake tool put down a roof vent access. Two men completed the task in just 1.5 hours.
The total charge was $726! When asking why the job was so expensive, I was told it was a flat rate for the service, yet when I scheduled the service I was told no estimate could be provided. If I had known the price was so high I would not have used A#1.
The price of $726 for 1.5 hours of work to clear a simple clog is viewed as excessive. Honesty is the best policy.
I just had other AC companies look at my inside unit and was told it was IMPROPERLY INSTALLED 7 years ago when A#1 installed it. I was told that the unit "was shoved into the space, is resting on the blower and that bent it out of shape causing a (horrific) noise".
It was recommended it be uninstalled and re-installed correctly. Instead of an entire new system inside and out I can get it re-done correctly for a fraction of the price A#1 quoted.
I almost hired them again. I am sad that they were trying to take advantage of a senior citizen instead of admitting it was a poor installation to begin with and just make it right.
Do not use this company. Our upstairs unit stopped cooling.
We had a guy come out and he didn't have the right tool for our valve caps to check Freon and after sending a picture to several other companies who also didn't have the tool, I was recommended to call this company because they are a big outfit and we're likely to have the tool. Sam and I believe Michael came to my home and also didn't have the tool.
They said they could change the fittings to something more universal which was great. They then came into my home and Michael walked right into my laundry room and did not leave after I asked him to get out and use a different sink because I didn't know what my wife had laying around drying in there.
Sam went up and looked at our units and basically told us everything was wrong and immediately started talking about a replacement unit. We had to press to get a repair option and he gave us a total of 10k to repair without any explanation of parts or a breakdown of costs all while saying replacement is the better option and kept saying our units are "builders grade" so they are basically garbage.
Basically everything was wrong. I'm okay with an option to replace since the units are 9 years old,but they worked great until a couple days ago, but we all know the type of person that's trying to sell you rather than take care of you and that was Sam's approach.
At the end of the interaction I asked him to put it all back how it was and he was reluctant to power the unit outside but kept changing his story as to why. "We put 2 lbs of refrigerant in" "there's no refrigerant in the unit" "well it will be gone within a couple hours." I just wanted it how it was before.
Maybe a leak in the coil but it was blowing coolish air even if the temp wasn't dropping. Also while a replacement unit could be installed the next day, they would wait a week after getting parts to repair.
So transparent. Outside of the sleazy sales process to the service call, there were several aspects that made me uncomfortable to include bringing up the recent shooting as a form of small talk which was poor tact.
What if I had known someone that was hurt? Either way, that's not a topic I want to discuss with a stranger. I mentioned getting a second opinion and while he was like "oh yeah, that's definitely smart." He was visibly uncomfortable, and I learned why the next day.
I declined getting a replacement quote because I was not comfortable with their team. I called another company the next day that had come out before and didn't have the right tool and he came out to look.
We walked up to the unit and discovered a#1 had broken off the service port from the king valve! This wasn't disclosed to me after they had been out and no other person had touched the unit in between. After calling to talk to the service manager, I was argued with, dismissed, and they refused to accept responsibility regardless of my photos because they had on the paperwork that sam filled out that there was a leak outside.
Sam did not fill out paperwork of findings until after he would have broken the valve so it's now obvious to me why he pushed so hard to replace the unit. He at no point showed me anything with the units or outside to see for myself and tried to take advantage me and my family.
Sometimes people make mistakes, but you have to do the right thing. Take your business elsewhere.
This company is not trustworthy. DO NOT PURCHASE ANYTHING FROM THIS COMPANY.
This is the most corrupt and morally bankrupt company I have ever done business with. They completely lied and cheated us.
We purchased two systems. Both of which were supposed to be 16 seer but the systems installed are clearly labeled 13 seer.
They refused to acknowledge their dishonesty. Read all the one star reviews.
I'm not the only person to have horrible experiences with them. Please do not risk being cheated by them as so many others have.
Further, I encourage every person with a one star experience to file civil suits against this company to try to get compensation for their dishonest business practices and horrible service. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY.
A1air doesn't want to solve any problems. They say contact their quality people but there is no listing for them.
I stated I wanted to discuss this before I posted but got no response and searching for anything but how to give them more money results in no listing. I thought I had made a good decision on purchasing my 12000 dollar unit from A#1 until the technician came out for a two year tuneup and recommended me having 2500 hundred finance for a deep clean.
It's only two years old! What type of practice is this? Since the visit I've had nothing but problems. SMH.
Wish I've heard of Elmer's before dealing with these sharks. Poor customer service.
I would not recommend. Find another company.
I have a service contract with them that assures me priority scheduling. I have an appointment today scheduled between 8-12.
It's 1:01pm right now and no one has called. I had to call and complain and both the customer service rep and customer service manger couldn't have been more condescending or care less.
All I was asked is if I want to reschedule after waiting since 7:45 this morning. POOR, POOR, POOR.
There is a reason why they have a low rating. They come out and provide a quote within a minute of inspection and charge $89 dollar service fee.
The technician tells me the call the main office as they will waive it, but no, they won't waive it. Also, the quote they provided was on the high side.
Had several companies come out thru Yelp and they all offered free quote, but not this one. If I were you, I would not ask for a quote from this company.
Unfortunately A#1 was unable to work on my kind of system. So why the review.
They thoroughly read my Yelp service request before saying they didn't work on these systems. This was unlike other companies who immediately responded with "what is your number so we can set up service".
Then once i reiterated the type of system etc. they said they couldn't help.
So if you want someone who will do his homework before jumping into your wallet then call A#1 Service. A1 Air does not honor their warranty.
Bought a system in March 2016 and was told by salesman that I wouldn't have to worry about anything for 10 years since parts and labor for my system were covered. I also added a zone system and nice thermostat.
These are listed as add-ons to my system, meaning they are part of it. The paperwork is clear that my system has a 10 year warranty.
There are no other warranties listed, no exclusions noted or exceptions on the signed contract. Fast forward to today and the thermostat has failed and A1 is saying I will have to pay over $2000 to replace.
They claim that the thermostat only has a 5 year warranty. Take a look at the attached contract and you will that nowhere is there anything about a 5 year warranty.
The only warranty listed is 10 years. Let me say,A1 does not want service their own equipment especially when it falls under warranty.
It do not seem to be a priority for them. I had their equipment for two years now and every year their equipment breaks down causing me more money for them to fix.
I was told on Monday the AC parts I needed for repairs would be ordered and would take a week to arrive well the week is over today is Friday and still no parts. I received no call from the tech or the parts section telling me the status of the parts.
I had to call more than once before I got a definitive answer on the part required for repairs. Autozone, Oreilly and Advance Auto can get parts in three days.
and they can not get parts in a week. I will say it again ,If it is covered under warranty, Its not a priority.
Their AC unit that I had installed breaks down every year since the day they installed it. I am beginning to think their ac units are garbage.
In good faith I can not recommend buying any AC Units from them or attaining their services. It's got to be a better company out there with better AC equipment and better customer service.
The gentleman was prompt, courteous, and communicated the problem well. The quote was reasonable and luckily resolved the problem.
I would recommend them with no problem. Horrible customer service.
My home incurred massive damage due to a mistake if not negligence of a service provider and the company was given multiple attempts to contact me to discuss the situation and they did not. We are now looking at a law suit.
Well up until this week I would have always given this company a 5 star review but they lost a customer over the weekend. This all started when my drain line for the condensation clogged up.
It was tripping the safety switch and killing power to the unit. I got the drain unclogged myself, no big deal, but in talking to another AC tech we came to the conclusion that the safety switch has been installed incorrectly from the onset.
That's why it couldn't drain even after I unclogged the line. So I called A1 and told them the problem.
They insisted I pay an $89 service call fee to come out and look at the problem, even though I'm still under warranty and they created the problem. After two phone calls with an extremely rude and unhelpful guy named Lorenzo I get someone else on the phone who promptly and happily waived the service call fee.
When the tech, who was very nice and helpful, came out he said the problem was the drain line was clogged. I agreed and let him know I had unclogged the line the day before but because the safety switch was installed (by their techs) incorrectly it's unable to drain.
He called his manager who said he could not fix the issue without charging me. I have been paying for them to come out twice a year for tune ups since this system was installed and no one ever said anything about this switch being wrong but the first AC guy I called said that it's not right.
So this is the big problem. They now won't even back up the work they have previously done on the system even when it's so blatantly their mistake.
Clinton Richards did a great job cleaning my AC unit and completed my summer tune-up. He was professional and friendly.
I appreciate the team members who service my system because they always do a great job. BEWARE!! These people are crooks! Took advantage of an elderly couple with a broken AC unit.
Told us they couldn't get parts for a unit they installed 14 years ago. Never saw a written quote, just their tech tapping on a tablet.
After calling their office multiple times I finally got a invoice a week after installation. I was charged $494.00 for a thermostat that I can buy for $49.99 at Lowe's or Amazon.
And I was told it could be financed for 60 months interest free. But the invoice showed a $1,057.30 "Merchant Finance Fee" added to the total.
After talking to numerous people from A#1 Air, including a cocky jerk from their corporate office, it was obvious to me this is how they operate.. Almost $10,000.00 for just a outside unit!!! Senior citizens beware!! I called A# Air after an uneasy feeling with another company.
Matthew arrived within a couple hours to inspect our system and let us know that the 10 year old unit we had was not only undersized for the house but in need of replacement. This was something that we anticipated.
Matthew walked us through the process and spent an hour explaining exactly what the steps were for financing and install. He did give us options for different systems but explained that the two-stage system was way more than we needed and that there was no reason to spend the extra money.
Matthew completed the paperwork and made sure every question we had was answered before he left. The install team, Augustine, Jimmy and Omar arrived at the time Matthew promised and had the job completed in four hours.
Each of them were very professional and cleaned up after themselves. I was walked through the system, how everything worked, what I needed to do (changing filters, etc) and the crew made sure that I was satisfied before they left.
I would recommend A#1 Air to anyone for service and /or replacement Paid $21k for two units, still trying to get dampeners set right as part of the house still cold. Called today as it has been two years, told service charge is $99 plus they would have to get a quote to adjust dampeners.
I know it has been two years but the flow is still not right and you only notice when it is cold out. UPDATE: Those two new Rheem hot water heaters that they installed lasted less than five years before rusting out on the inside.
Orange water was coming out of the faucets in my home. I had them both replaced with a different brand by another plumbing company after A#1 Air said there was nothing they could do about it.
The only solution they offered was flushing out the hot water heaters at my expense knowing they were rusted out and that it wouldn't solve the problem. After this experience I seriously question the quality of materials they are selling.
Stay away from Rheem. We've also had many problems with the two Rheem AC units they sold and installed for us.
They damaged two new coils during two install attempts on one AC unit. But they have honored their warranties thus far and they paid for the ceiling water damage fix when the AC pan in the attic overflowed due to an install issue on their part.
That's why I will give them at least two stars. I had a service call on July 1st to diagnose and repair a blown capacitor on my Trane XL16i condenser unit.
Once repaired and replaced I asked Brandon if he had experience installing a Trane XL824 thermostat replacing the old TCONT800 thermostat. The requirement was an understanding of the dehumidification requirement that we currently have and will need to maintain via the XV80 IFC.
He claimed this was not a problem and charged me $125.00. I gave the system a couple of hours watching the humidity level escalate to 71 percent thus prompting me to call A#1 Air to send a tech with Trance experience and training - they sent Gage.
He rewired Brandon's work and claimed he could net get stage one on the condenser unit working and using stage two was fine. I have given the system one week to see if the humidity levels drop to a set point of 45 percent.
Since this has not happened I called A#1 air yesterday and today - also forwarded pics of the incorrect wiring that both Brandon and Gage performed. As of today I have had no response from this group.
If you require experienced Trane tech's do not use A#1 Air. Paul M.
I would definitely NOT recommend this company for any sort of plumbing work. it is not in their realm of expertise.
i had a slab leak and by the time they left I had huge holes cut in dry wall in three different rooms- living room, family room, laundry room, and water supply completely cut off indefinitely until an outside slab leak expert company can come in. A #1 Air literally made things worse.
We called the office for help and they didn't even recognize us. A manager never returned our call.
Very negative experience for our beloved home. We purchased a new 5-ton Trane HVAC system from A#1 Air after several attempts and thousands of dollars spent to try and resurrect the one that came with the house.
The installers Tony and Victor could not have done a better job from start to finish. There was a discrepancy on the parts and he immediately recognized it and had one sent to the location for the installation.
Their communication throughout the entire process was thorough and answered all the questions that I had. Anything I requested changed they changed with no pushback.
Their attention to detail and quality was superior. Everything looks very well done.
I am pleased with what I purchased and how it was installed. Paid 11.5k for a unit and cannot even use if for heat.
Will not heat my house at all. Still under warranty and they stated they would get back to me.
I could close all but one vent and still not enough heat to heat up a room. This company recently had a merger, and the office is a mess with zero communication and followup.
We purchased a new A/C system from them only 7 years ago, and it already has a coil leak and needs a new coil and capacitor (nearly $3000). The technician ordered the parts over 2 months ago, and we have had no follow up.
I have called 7 times and asked for a manager to call me, and no one ever has. I did finally get a call that the parts were in and they would be there to install on Friday.
They could not give me a time frame, so I waited at home all day. The first crew came around 2:30 and said they only had one of the parts.
The other technician came close to 9 pm. I asked all 3 technicians again to have a manager call me.
No one ever did. The technicians were great, but management doesn't give a crap about good customer service.
I would dearly love a call with an apology from an actual manager. Don't waste your time with A#1 Air.
I booked a tune up with them on a Monday. Monday afternoon they called to reschedule to Friday.
I called them twice on Friday to confirm they were coming and they said yes. After I wait the entire day for the technician to show up they call at 8:45pm to reschedule for 1 month later! Absolutely ridiculous and the worst customer service ever.
Our a/c went down had this company come out to service our A/c He looked at the unit said it was the condenser fan motor that was out and it was covered under warranty but the labor for doing the work was $587 in labor so we had got a second look from a different company and it turns out that it wasn't the motor it was just a wire that was installed wrong and was rubbing and shorted out and broke off the original technician said nothing about the wire he just said it was the motor and $587 is insane for labor then not telling us the real cause that's how you loose the trust of a customer if your thinking about using this company don't go somewhere else there just taking advantage of in a tight spot Price rape!!!. Response time great.
Less than 2 hours after calling, a tech was here. 10 minutes later and $406 our sink was unclogged.
$39 service charge and $367 to snake our sink drain and 10 minutes of total work. Never again I got my entire air ducts replaced by them 2 years ago, 7500.00 which was supposed to include new insulation.
Well, I had a contractor come because the humidity in our house was outrageous, guess what? No new insulation that we paid for in the attic!! Stay away from this company at all costs, I filed a BBB complaint and am going to alert the local news sources of this blatant abuse of customers, especially senior citizens. Sam came to our house and quickly assessed our problem and got to work on it.
Our situation was a little abnormal but Sam took it in stride. We have a supplemental warranty and Sam negotiated with his bosses to make sure we got the service required to get the job done right.
He was professional, courteous and knowledgeable. He came up with a very clever solution to our very unusual problem.
Thanks Sam. Their guarantees are based on their "discretion " they do not want to uphold the "we fix it or it's free" when it's costed the customer hundreds and numerous visits.
I have spent a lot of money due to their techs guessing the problems and making up problems. Terrible company to get help from when the unit is not working.
They do not communicate within departments. I cannot get ahold of a manager or supervisor and they are trying to tell me the repairs were necessary when several techs have came back and stated "oh that wasn't the problem, it's this" and then my AC still does not cool.
It's been the same problem over and over and they can't fix it and they will not honor the free of charge guarantee. Kwana and Kendra were zero help and managers do not like to speak to customers to resolve issues.
Some techs are nice and helpful (Leo) and knowledgeable but as a whole, the leadership lacks. I would recommend you look at other options.
By far my worst experience with a company. If anyone has a contact with who can help me receive credit for all I've spent and no problems to be fixed, that would be great.
I would not consider A#1 for any service in the future. My A/C unit stopped working during the night and called the next morning and secured a service appointment.
Before the service person arrived I received a call from an A#1 rep wanting to know if I was interested in an electrical inspection. I said no, just want the A/C running since it is 103 degrees.
Service tech showed up in within 5 minutes told me there was no power to the unit and that he was going to call the electrical team. I told him I wasn't interested in an upsale and since he showed no interest from the start I asked him to leave but not before he charged for the service call.
Later after work I shut off the power to the unit, shut the system off and removed the power disconnect. I opened the panel and using a blower I cleaned out all of the cobwebs and debri from the electrical panel of the unit.
Powered everything back up and the unit kicked on and has been running since. Very simple fix and I was told there was no power to the unit.
All the tech was interested in was bringing another up charge to the call. Had the same issue with them a few years ago on a simple clogged drain line.
They refused to clear the pipe until they ran a camera thru the line. Another way to upcharge.
I declined the service and went to Home Depot and purchased a snake to connect to my drill and un- clogged the line in 15 minutes. All this company is interested in is finding a way to make more money instead of servicing the customer's needs.
Came out to do an A/C inspection and clean vents/drains. also advised them that my ac filter was getting wet.
Spent 2+ hours, charged ridiculous amount and when they left, the ac was not cooling at all, filter hadn't been changed and was soaking wet (I had put in a new filter prior to them arriving). I called them and they sent a tech that evening, who was not at all happy to be there.
Amazingly, even though he said he didn't do anything, suddenly it wasn't leaking any more and the house was now cooling. Also had an estimate on putting new piping under my kitchen sink as still had old copper piping.
Today i noticed that the hose to my garbage disposal was broken and water leaking everywhere. Didn't even give them a chance to look at it as i do not trust them at all.
Also contracted with them to have a company they work with install attic insulation the next day. When that company left, there was insulation all over my garage and in the alley.
No clean up whatsoever. Please be careful who you choose and inspect EVERYTHING prior to them leaving.
Always a good experience dealing with the professional and friendly folks at A#1 Air. We have a yearly membership with them and they are great at keeping up with their upcoming appointments, checkups or rescheduling when needed.
For your AC/ electrical and plumbing services for your home I highly recommend A#1 Air. I don't recommend this company! I have been struggling to schedule an appt with a specific technician that I had out a while ago with A#1 Air.
I liked the technician and felt like he was an honest guy, so I wanted the same guy to come back if I needed an A/C guy again. I'm a woman and In my world- honesty and integrity mean a lot.
We own multiple properties, so finding a technician that I feel I can trust who doesn't try to up-sale me is not always easy. I made it clear that I only wanted Justin M.
The office gal mistakenly booked my appt with someone else the day of my 1st appointment because she scheduled it on his day off. The second appt that was scheduled was on July 3rd.
Around 4:00 pm or a bit later, I called to check the status of when Justin would be by and I was told he had several calls yet to go, so it would be much later in the evening before he arrived. I do realize it's a busy time of the year.
Due to the 4th of July and our family heading out of town in the evening of the 3rd, I decided to reschedule for another day with Justin M. I was again rescheduled to see Justin M.
on July 9th which is today. I just called to get an idea of what the window looks like for him to come by today and I was told he's out on vacation all week, now.
It's already been about 2 1/2 weeks I've waited just to see Justin M and I've made it clear I don't want to see another technician every time I've scheduled with A#1 Air. Instead, the office schedulers have just put another technician on the schedule without asking me or calling me back when they realized Justin wasn't available.
At one point I spoke with the dispatcher directly and she wasn't very friendly. I would NOT recommend a company that has such bad communication within its company relating to days off and vacations and more importantly, they have poor communication with their customers.
There is no excuse even if their company employs a large number of people, locally. There is most definitely a "disconnect" within their own company.
I've given up on them!! I will be finding another heating and air company that I feel comfortable using with my other properties. I've given two stars rather than one because if it weren't for the front office scheduling and dispatcher problems- I would probably be happy with Justin M.
UPDATE: As the owner requested, I contacted their "customer relations team" and tried to discuss their exorbitant pricing for R410a charging only to be told this is their "normal pricing" as set by their HVAC manager. Even after explaining that their prices are conservatively 3X higher than any other company in the area and 12X the price of the refrigerant itself I was told "this is our process".
When I asked what they would do if they pulled up to a gas station and saw the price was $40/gallon (12X what you should be paying), I was told, "I have a choice to go somewhere else..." TAKE THIS COMPANY'S ADVICE --- 'GO SOMEWHERE ELSE' TLDR: I would highly recommend using ANYONE OTHER than A#1 air for any A/C servicing. This company tried to wildly over charge us (over 10X what it should have cost) for filling/charging our system with refrigerant AFTER they found out all of the parts and labor for the repairs were covered by our warranty through the A/C manufacturer.
Contacted A#1 air to diagnose and troubleshoot some issues with our 3-year-old Daikin whole home A/C system. Technician arrived, asked what we were experiencing and then checked the control unit for fault codes.
After reviewing the fault codes, he determined that we needed a new compressor as almost all of the fault codes were for a locked rotor in the compressor, and this is what was keeping the system from turning on reliably. The technician knowing the system was only 3 years old and under warranty told me that the parts would be covered but we were looking at $2000 in labor and materials.
I informed the technician that we had purchased a 12-year parts and labor warranty plan when the unit was installed, he could run the serial number with Daikin to verify; technician scoffed and said he'd never seen anyone with a warranty that covered labor. After running the serial number and realizing our warranty did in-fact cover part AND labor and thus they would not be able to charge us the previously stated $2000 for the labor and materials, he informed us that they would be able to do all of the work under the warranty, but we would have to pay to recharge the system with R410a refrigerant.
He quoted us $1125 for 7.5lbs of R410a refrigerant which works out to be $150/lb. Something obviously felt wrong about that quote so I Googled the current price of R410a and at the time of this post, it can easily be purchased from multiple sources across the country for around $300 for a 25lb bottle; around $12/lb.
wholesale. Even if they charge double that cost, $24/lb.
to add a margin for themselves, that would only have come out to around $170 for the specified 7.5lbs of refrigerant, nowhere near the $1100 they were trying to charge!!!! They tried to charge us over 12X the actual cost of the material/refrigerant!!!!!!!! After brining this to the technician's attention he essentially told me that's just what they charge and there's nothing he could do about it. He simply couldn't explain what the other $995 they were charging us was for!!! DO NOT TRUST THIS COMPANY!!!!!!!!!! Scheduled a simple routine service call - no issues with the A/C just a check up.
First available appointment was about 10 days out, so I took it. On the day of the appointment A#1Air no called, no showed.
I called them the next day, they apologized but had no explanation, and said they could get someone out the next morning. I made sure to emphasize that if there were ANY changes, issues, or problems to text or call me and leave a voicemail.
The next day, they again no called and no showed. So I call them again at about 6:30PM, and after a lengthy hold the rep says she is talking to dispatch and they're trying to figure out what happened ("as am I", I think).
And it turns out they don't know what happened, but would like to reschedule me. Uh...no, you've already wasted TWO WEEKS of my time, when I could have called a competitor, and after no call no showing twice there's not going to be a third time.
Horribly insulting. I will literally never call this company again.
Ten years ago, our AC unit was down. We called A1 because of their ads and the fact that we could get no one else to come out at that hour and day of the week.
They basically gave us an estimate that they knew we could not afford. They tried the upsell to a whole system.
I could have bought a nice new car for the same price. They had us in a bind and knew it.
They offered financing (through Wells Fargo) with minutes for approval. Had no choice and had to do it.
The new system was great. We just had to buckle down and pay the devil his dues.
We also had them service it twice each year (they said we HAD to for the warranty to be maintained). With the way they redesigned my AC drain system, every 3 or three months we have to call them out to "clean the lines" and that costs us between $300 and $400 each time.
When questioned about it, they wanted to charge us over $4,000.00 to clean the duct work, remove the fan and clean it. The constant up-selling at exorbitant fees was costing enough to buy a new system.
I have to admit, they have their technical excuses down pat. They all repeat them exactly like their handbook is written.
Most of their technicians are just great people trying to work and make a living for their families. I have been a tech before, so I sympathize with them.
However, now that our warranty is up, I have decided to locate a new HVAC repair service that is honest, reliable and AFFORDABLE. Any of you "Ex-A1Air" customers like to give me some phone numbers and names? Thanks so much! I rated this company with only two stars because of he surprise labor fee.
Here's the story. On 4/19/2023, two A1 Air technicians conducted an inspection and tune up for my condo AC system.
$59 was the advertised price. During the inspection, the lead technician discovered a weak capacitor that tested 33 out of 40.
The assistant warned that it could fail and result in another service fee. He stated the capacitor, which retails for about $25 (Amazon pricing), was still under warranty, and that the replacement part was free to me.
However, A #1 Air would charge a $175 labor fee to install the new capacitor. To be fair, he did agree to waive the $75 ladder fee for an extra-long ladder which he did not bring.
Bottom line, I ended up paying $250 for the inspection, tune up, and replacement. In conclusion, I would like to know if this is a common practice for A#1 Air -- and if it is standard operating procedure for the industry -- to charge a $175 labor fee to replace a free capacitor.
Have other customers experienced the same issue? It is my hope that A1 Air will address this concern, and that their business practices will reflect the values of transparency, honesty, and fairness. Do Not USE this Company.
The worst company I have ever dealt with. They say they will make things right.
Not even close. First they said they wanted to come do a tune up, but that didn't happen but wanted me to pay for it anyway.
Then they said there was a 2 foot wire that needed to be replaced. Quoted $495.
I had a mom and pop company replace it for $50. I heard they work on commission so I am guessing that is so they can charge what ever they want.
They are HORRIBLE. I will never use them again.
Quoted 995.00 to clean my unit THAT THEY installed ....Had On Time Air come out...they had to do a repair and clean for 259.00....On Time Air also said my unit wasn't that dirty....Will NEVER do business with them again. We had a AC guy who blamed the seller of our home for 3 faulty AC units.
three new Lenox HVAC systems broke coils went out all in first 3 to 4 years. They also put in new ducts and one fell the day our warranty ended.
It was not supported like all the other ducts. The duct goes to our office.
My experience from the first phone call where I had a million questions to the end of a very long day of electric upgrades was absolutely top notch. Brandon was incredible, answered every question without making me feel like a burden, explained the whole job and was the consummate professional from the first visit to the moment the final label was placed in my new panel.
He and his crew were professional, took good care of my home, provided exceptional communication, reduced my stress and got the whole job done right the first time. Thank you so much.
It was a big stressful job and I'd have Brandon and A#1 back in a second. He gets my full endorsement with no reservations! Salesman came out promptly but their prices were 8k over what we got from a local Weatherford company.
We have used A1 before for electrical and plumbing work which has been great. Recently we started having a problem with one of AC systems and figured we would try their HVAC services as well.
They sent out a technician, Milton who did a great job. There was quite a few problems that he identified and he showed video of what he found and made recommendations with different pro's and cons.
He stayed for hours and also refilled the AC unit so we would have some cool air for the day. We wanted to talk to their sales department to get an idea of the options and what made sense financially.
They sent one of their sales reps, Jay out the same day and were flexible and could meet with us after 6.30 PM which was very convenient. We were upfront with that we were looking for a financially viable solution and would not be interested in the luxury models IF we would end up replacing any part of the system.
Jay did great with just presenting options that were in our range. It's always frustrating when someone in sales tries to oversell you and it was a relief that this was not the experience with A1 at all.
It was also very easy to get financing through them, it only took minutes to know the options and interest rates. We ended up replacing the furnace and AC system and they were able to come out as soon as the next morning! Unfortunately I don't remember the name of the installers but they were friendly and efficient, they explained everything well and showed things I asked about and made sure they had answered all of our questions.
It's also a relief that they want to make sure it gets services and the first year of service was included in the price which is appreciated. We had to replace one of the other AC systems in the house a few years ago with a different company and we never heard from them again after they had installed it, it was so nice to have a great experience with A1! Misleading warranty claims.
Make sure you read your contract carefully with this company. This company installed a complete HVAC system into my house.
It included a 10-year parts and labor warranty. The technicians did not install the condensation drainpipe correctly.
It clogged and shut off the system, usually during extreme heat wave situations. When I called them about the problem, they insisted there was a $75.00 service charge to send a technician, even though it was under warranty.
I asked where this was stipulated on the contract (since it was not) for warranty work. They agreed to help a couple times by clearing it but then insisted I pay their service charge.
I ended up doing it myself many times. The last time I called they increased the service charge to $99.00.
Even though A#1 Air replaced the original system incorrectly, the last technician said the drain system was incorrect and charged me almost $1000,00 to fix it, even though they did the original installation, and it was supposed to be under warranty. The installation was done incorrectly, and they would not honor their warranty.
I do NOT recommend this company. They do not stand by their work and charge a service charge every time there is warranty work.
They might have changed the language on their new contracts. Anyone with an installation contract with A#1 Air should read it and if they had the same treatment, a class action suit might be in order.
A couple of months ago, I called this company to service our tankless water heater. The first plumber (can't remember his name) came and did the work.
After he left, I noticed that our hot water was taking too long to come on (sometimes up to 10mins, yes I timed it). Also, while taking a shower, I noticed the water switching from hot to cold during the process (very annoying).
I called the plumber and the company to have him come back and check if something was wrong. He was actually very defensive when I spoke with on the phone.
All I wanted was for him to come back and check the work as we have never had this problem before. Our house was built in 2017 and we have been living in this house with no hot water issues until that day.
When he showed up to have it checked, he seemed to be in such a hurry and wouldn't even listen to whatever I was trying to explain to him. I turned on the faucet and showed him how long it was taking for the hot water to come on but he just continued brushing me off.
Now he wanted to blame it on our shower knob, like seriously. It wasn't the shower knob because all the faucets in the house were taking too long for the hot water to come on especially the ones upstairs.
So, he opened up the faucet, checked and nothing was wrong. He never bothered to fix anything and was just argumentative.
Oh, and this man had the audacity to walk into my house with no shoe covers and left a mess everywhere. I called the company again and requested for a different plumber to come out.
This time it was plumber Clint R. who came.
I walked him through, turned on the water and showed him how long it was taking to get hot water. He acknowledged that it was taking too long.
He checked the faucet valves and everything was fine. He then came up with ridiculous explanation how we needed to install a recirculating pump to help reduce the time that it was taking to get hot water.
What ridiculousness; we just spent $400 to have this heater serviced which your company screwed up and now we have to pay almost $1300 to install some system to get hot water? Like I kept telling them, WE HAVE LIVED IN THIS HOUSE FOR 5 YEARS WITH NO ISSUES WHATSOEVER WITH OUT WATER HEATER. Few days go by and I noticed that the shower knob that Mr.
first plumber had worked on wasn't turning all the way to the hot side. Again, I called the company and this time around, they sent Riley and his apprentice.
They were very sweet, polite and provided detailed explanations. We noticed that Mr.
first plumber had left out one of the pieces that goes inside the shower knob which is why it wasn't turning all the way! So, am I crazy to say that Mr. first plumber screwed us twice? By the way, Riley and his apprentice showed respect for our property (they wore shoe covers and cleaned up after themselves).
I am not a plumber and I do not how to service a tankless water heater nor anything concerning hot or cold water system. What I do know is that, the first plumber did something to our system because this is unusual.
Everyday since that incident, we have been hoping that one day things will get back to normal but it just seems to be getting worse especially in these cold temperatures. I have been holding off on writing this review but I just had to do it today; I went upstairs this morning to get my kids ready, turned on the hot water and waited almost 20 minutes and no hot water! This company needs to do better for their customers.
Hire people with good work ethics. I'm not happy with their service plan.
Each technician proposed different things each time they came out and it was expensive and some things seemed questionable. They sold me an expensive drain flush which I was told later by a person with experience that all I needed was vinegar and water mix (very cheap).
I do know some of the things they proposed were very pricey and I could do myself easily for next to nothing. When I first signed up, they were good about scheduling my next appointment.
Then it dropped off. I paid a lot at the end that was a waste.
I canceled after I realized if I needed real work done... I would certainly bid it out to multiple companies and I didn't feel they'd be in the running even after their service plan discount.
But who knows, but I'm obviously not satisfied with the service plan regardless. $24 a month isn't cheap, so I expected more.
Their technicians were very polite and friendly. Update: Changed from two stars to one star.
Four years after my complaint and their expressed desire to make these issues right, the similar complaint is still made by others here in 2023. A number one air came out to my home and replaced to start capacitor on the compressor the technician Jake looks at me and says 391 you want it fixed I didn't like his nasty attitude he left the bracket off of the new capacitor which is laying on the ground right beside the unit now they keep calling and bugging the hell out of me want to come back.
you people are a rip off and the public needs to know it don't do business with them cost me over $500 for a damn $50 capacitor A#1Air has always been the Best Air Condition company I ever dealt with. They installed my Air Conditioner about 9 years ago and I have their service twice a year for a checkup.
Today was an exceptional day as the technician Jamal McDuffie came to my house right on time. He was very professional and greeted me with respect.
He made suggestion about changing the bulb to my Green Air system and after consideration divided to do it. He showed me the old bulb as proof when compared to the new bulb.
He proceeded to go outside to my air conditioner and spent time cleaning out the system with a hose and making adjustments that were needed. He was so kind and knowledgeable.
I will definitely ask for him again. I don't know how to use google but I hope this review will be enough to give him a reward he definitely deserves.
Thank you, F.Z This company's scheduling system is misleading. They won't give you a window for when they will arrive at your home so you spend all day waiting.
They do contact you about every 2-3 hours with these annoying update calls that are meaningless. I recommend that you find a reputable HVAC company to deal with.
First time I used them after I saw one of their truck in the neighborhood. A1 is by far some of the best customer service I've experienced- ever.
I have to specifically call out the tech who serviced my two AC units - polite, knowledgeable, effective and thorough. I would recommend this company to anyone based on my recent experience.
Overpriced for sure. Tech was an a55hole.
Was in a bind so didn't have much options. My current system was having issues in this heat but was working.
When the tech left, nothing was working. Got home and my girl was in 93 degree house.
Had been holding at 82 before. Ended up with $10300 bill for new compressor and consdesoe.
I don't even know what I got. They have you by the balls.
Still struggling to cool in this heat but better than it was....not 10k better. Couldn't afford to do it but had no choice.
15 years of payments I have now. I don't recommend to anyone.
Find another company. I see on TV the next day....3000 in rebates, 72 a month complete system.
I don't have a big house. I asked about rebates and stuff and was told nothing.
This set us back.bad. thanks A1.
Just a warning but if you are considering A#1 Air for replacing your AC/heating unit, you might want to rethink it. They installed one for us a few years ago and took some shortcuts without our permission and now they want to charge us $1500 to fix the errors that they caused.
At the time they installed the unit we bought a 10 year labor and 10 year parts "carefree guarantee". The repairs that they are suggesting are outside of that "carefree guarantee".
The paperwork they left for us states: My promise to you! " Any time you believe that we have not lived up to our promise of great service, quality or value, call us! " James & Sherry Green, Owners A#1 Air 972-242-2665 Calling customer service at their company is a waste of time. Unfortunately, the people on the other end of the phone do not understand the business or the technical aspects of a heating and air conditioning unit.
i have been a customer of A#1 air since 2014, the installed a new unit in my house, i pay for the warrant and service calls monthly. in Feb i got my unit maintenance and it has to be repaired, i guess the service guy stepped on the drip pan and tried to charge me 3500 to fix it after june they finally called me back and told me they were going to cover the cost, so when they came out its now my Compressor, i have been without air since Saturday and the guy come to fix the unit today and still cant put the drip pan in because now they want 3800 for labor for a compressor because they are trying to say the part is covered but the labor is 3800.
im getting an attorney I needed several repairs for plumbing and HVAC in my home and was watching commercials and started making appointments with another company that I saw on WFAA. Their website stated they wouldn't be able to fix my HVAC system til SEPTEMBER and it is now MAY.
I couldn't believe it! I left the appointments in anyway, hoping that I'd hear from them soon. Lucky for me, the next commercial to come on was A#1, so I went their website and started making appointments.
Even though it was after 6PM, they called me within 30 minutes to find out what was going on in the house and ask me when the best time was to come out to fix my issues. Not only that, but they sent someone to my house the same evening to check out my HVAC system, and then someone came to discuss multiple to options to fit my budget.
The SAME NIGHT!! They were prompt, professional, kind, and courteous. They took extra care to keep my house clean.
And my new HVAC installation is working SO well I was freezing in my house within 24 hours. They included an inspection of the house, a surge protector, and air duct cleaning.
I didn't miss a minute of work! Leo, Bryce, Frank and everyone else I came in contact with were absolutely outstanding. I cannot say enough about this team.
Their efficiency and willingness to accommodate is rare. I texted the other company back and told them to cancel my appointments, they said told me that I had contacted them after hours.
They're not wrong, but they certainly lost a customer! Our air Conditioning went out last night around 630. We called A#1 Air, the call was answered quickly and even though it was after hours we had a service tech out at our house at midnight Milton quickly assessed the outdoor unit and told us the capacitor needed to be replaced.
He finished his job quickly and air conditioning started cooling the house immediately. Great job A#1 Air - THANK YOU SO MUCH Downstairs a/c is 8 years old, repairman said he would not work on the unit and we needed a brand new unit.
Called another company and they came out an hour after he left & replaced the capacitor ( it had a loose wire and replaced it just in case). Also he left a door to something open in the attic.
The unit won't work with that door open. $100 service fee wasted.
The Electrician that did the Electric Install of the 24KW whole house Generator and the Transfer Switch (David) was outstanding. He kept us informed, did quality and professional work and was a great client relations guy.
The Plumbing side?? Not so much. That is why the rating is a 4 instead of a 5.
They showed up and left. Did nothing.
Got a call later that they would be back in 4 days. Other issues.
I asked the company not to send them back. The company obliged and sent two new guys that hit the ground running and all was hooked up the end of the day.
I have to call for a start up but that is on me for timing. This company isn't interested in servicing your unit, all they want to do is upsell you services and products you don't need.
Two tears after the unit was purchased they tried to tell me that the interior fan was dirty and needed to be taken out and cleaned, the price was over $300. Then they tried to sell me a hardstart kit for over $400.
When I wouldn't buy that junk the "technician" got angry and insulting. I threw him out of the house.
Their commercials give you the owner's cellphone number. Unfortunately the Greens never answer those phones, a customer "service" rep does.
You will NEVER get the Greens on the phone. These people are shysters! I used this company because they had a $39 special (used to reel you in).
They came the following day and specifically told the guy that i want to get the 2 ac units tuned up and drain line cleaned and he said it would be 120 plus 39 ea unit. I said fine and i went to run errands.
I get back for him to talk to me what he found and what he did and listed was 2 tune ups, refrigerant, drain line cleaner and drain line flush equaling 405. I did not give any consent on the refrigerant or me wanting a whole bottle of cleaner that i do not know what to even do with.
His recommendation was obviously pretty much a whole new unit so another guy came (sales) and begin to tell me how much and i told him of the charges already charged to me and he said he would do this for me. "we can take the 200 off the 9000k that will cost for the new unit" Thanks? I told them ill talk to my wife.
Next day he texts me and i told him again about the hidden charges and he said he would customer relations call me. Roxie called and read what was going on and then explained to me work was completed along with the ole " sir let me finish" "you signed" and she also said that their guys always tell the customeAlr the work they are going to do before they do it.
I said how is that possible when i was out running errands...she then said oh well your wife was home. My wife was taking care of 3 children under 3 so was busy and she had no idea what i was talking about only said that he introduced himself.
Also he said there was a leak, i'm no expert but you do not add more refridgerant when there is a leak and your recommendation is to replace the whole thing since it will need to a
