Review and analyze now for company Riddell Plumbing and provide the analysis in the discussed format for the following reviews: '''Riddell - Best in DFW. You can go with others but will end up with Riddell fixing the mistakes of others.
You can try others and waste a ton of money and time, but after a while ask why. Avoid Riddell Plumbing at all costs.
We had major issue after major issue with them. We showed the plumber two-bathroom faucets which were leaking from the handles and asked him what to do.
He replied that the cartridges needed to be replaced, however their advice was for us to go ahead and purchase two new faucet sets, as he informed us that that price to install new faucets would be less, than changing out the cartridges. We were charged an hourly rate for a previous cartridge repair.
Based on the technician's advice, we went ahead and purchased two new faucet sets. He arrived at the house by himself and proceeded to work on installing the first faucet At about 1 pm, he finally came out and informed us that he had accidently chipped our marble sink.
He asked my wife if she wanted him to go down to Lowe's and to fix it himself. She replied no and asked that a professional come.
She thought he was being paid by the hour and was concerned about the amount of time it was taking. He got fussy and replied, "well, it takes however long it takes".
He finally wrapped up around 2 p.m. and told my wife that he did not want to work on installing the second faucet by himself.
He explained that normally technicians work in pairs but that someone had called in sick. He stated the lack of a 2nd technician was partly to blame for the damage he caused.
He further explained that a washer was stuck and that it was very difficult to get off. The next day he came back with an assistant and attempted replacing the second faucet upstairs - around 4 hours to complete.
I was not home so he asked my wife for payment and she asked him how much it would be and he told her, approximately $1,500! She asked why it was so expensive and he said that there is a FLAT RATE for installing each faucet of $575 each and that he had to replace approximately $400 in additional parts (remember we bought faucet kits). She was surprised as she was under the impression that we paid by the hour because at no time was it stated that there would be a flat fee.
My wife pointed out that all of the parts came in the boxes with the faucets, however, he said he had to replace additional parts to the tune of $400. She told him that she did not want to pay the bill until someone came to fix our sink, however he demanded payment.
She was alone at the time and didn't feel comfortable getting into an argument so she paid the bill. On 8/21 someone came to try and fix the sink.
In spite of the repairman's best effort the chip is still noticeable. I found out about all of this and contacted their office.
I informed them that $1,500 is unreasonable to install two bathroom faucets (that we paid for) and therefore we would like to inquire about the high bill, particularly the cost of installation and what parts were really needed. In pricing the parts ourselves they are found online for a lot less than what we were charged (example angle stops were 2-3 times higher).
This seems like a bait and switch to us. We would have been better off doing the cartridge repair as that was much cheaper than the $575 flat fee.
We would have also avoided a chipped sink. They should have informed us if there was going to be a change to a flat fee rate versus the hourly rate.
Additionally, the technician commented on the day of the damage that he would 'work with us/discount the bill for some of the time/trouble'. We certainly didn't see that.
Riddell responded that they do not conduct business in that way and do not want any customer to feel like they have been ripped off. They claim to have spoken with the plumber on this matter and explained that this should never be charged as a flat rate, In addition he over charged for material that he supplied.
They claimed the plumber is "new using our system for billing" and he hasn't quite gotten the hang of it just yet, but that should not be our issue. They offered to reduce the parts to $62.50 and the labor refund to $532 and an overall total for replacing two faucets (that we bought) to $915.00.
We wanted to be done with this situation so we agreed to the refund amount. The story could have ended here...but unfortunately it gets worse.
The second faucet was not secured correctly, see photo. Having spent $915 on faucet repair I called them out for the quality issue.
I sent them the picture. They send the same plumber.
I let the plumber in and head off to the office and I hear the technician yell at me from the other room "what is wrong with this?" "what is wrong with the sink?". I went back in and I see that the faucet is no longer at a 45 degree angle.
He must not have been aware I sent a photo to the office a day prior. I grabbed the faucet and turned it on and said see it is not tight.
He exploded and said "YOU DID THAT". Retort: No I didn't.
"Yes you f;ing did". He puffed up at me and became belligerent.
I responded. It got very heated.
Company never responded to this report! I called Riddell Plumbing on Thursday October 19th and informed them that a makeup brush had been accidentally flushed down the toilet. They sent someone to fix the problem.
I was told that the problem was resolved, and that the makeup brush had been successfully flushed all the way down the pipes . I paid $270 for the service.
By Saturday, October 21 it had come apparent that the problem was not fixed. The toilet would not flush correctly.
I called Riddell plumbing early Monday morning and told them about the problem and that the toilet had not been successfully repaired. I was told by Riddell plumbing that they could send another service person but that I would be charged another $270.
I asked them why would I be charged again if it had not been repaired correctly the first time. I was told that they do not provide any warranty on that type of service.
I then called Marquez Plumbing LLC. I would highly recommend them.
They were very professional. The plumber actually removed the toilet and was able to retrieve the makeup brush and the problem was solved! Fast and easy!!! I highly recommend Marquez Plumbing LLC and they are the only plumbers I will use from now on Jay came by my house this morning for a sink that wouldn't drain.
He was patient, understanding, and took time out to draw a diagram and explain what exactly was going on and what was fixed. His pricing was reasonable and provided great customer service.
Young man who was suppose to give us an estimate couldn't come any time after 2pm {early tee time I guess} and then blew in and blew out. Never called back with said estimate.
Sorry excuse of an employee if you ask me. Total waste of our time.
Make sure to ask for Granite if you want someone lazy with no customer service skills. Ridiculous really.
Increasing prices for essentials during an emergency declaration is against the law in Texas. According to HomeAdvisor, "a plumber ranges from $45 to $200 per hour or more depending on the job, timing and location." So the $450.00/hour fee I was quoted over the phone during the freak winter storm seems to qualify as price gouging.
Though having read some of the other reviews, one Yelper wrote, "Also they wanted $325 per hour vs the industry average of $200 or less." So charging abnormally high prices seems to be the norm for Riddell Plumbing. Ekes.
First visit they didn't fix everything because next day all drains were clogged again. Second visit, next day they made us a priority but if done thoroughly the first time there wouldn't of been a return visit.
Not much respect for cleanliness, shoe booties not used. On a positive note there was no charge, they fixed the problem and did get to the house before the end of day.
I would recommend them and use again but would suggest you are present and involved so you understand what they are doing to fix the problem. Make sure they use a scope when snaking.
Could not help for over a week and this was before the winter weather. Like I could live with out being able to use the bathroom for that long !! This was my first time using Riddell.
They showed up in a timely manner, were very thorough, and made sure everything was correct before they left. I had frozen/busted water pipes and they even showed me the breaks, which was great.
I highly recommend them. Setting up a schedule was fast and easy.
Guys that came out were knowledgeable and answered all of my questions thoroughly. Had my bathroom drain unclogged and bathtub inspected.
I was more than pleased with how professional they were and their labor pricing was great. Thanks again RP! Very professional and came same day.
What they charged was very reasonable since they fixed our sink and toilet. Have used a number of plumbers over the years and would put them at the top of the list.
Good work done right. Able to do difficult jobs that others can't.
Andy was very helpful in scheduling the team. Thank you for a job well done.
I wouldn't waste your time with these guys. Called them over 3 weeks ago about some plumbing work and a bathroom remodel.
Was told I would be contacted by remodeling department. Still waiting !! They called me ahead of time to confirm, and showed up on time.
It was an easy install that took them an hour, but would have taken me more than a day and many trips to the hardware store. I will be very happy to call them again.
Nick and his partner did an excellent repairing a pipe leak under my bathtub this week. He requested to comeback and finish the job after the city fixed a leak on their side.
He texted me to check on everything. He was back the same afternoon after the city fixed their part.
Nick and his partner were professional, personable, and very thorough. They did a great job!! Cody and his assistant arrived within the hour, as promised.
They were courteous and professional. The team cleaned up and had the clog removed in less than an hour.
Will use them again, if needed. These guys are a train wreck and don't stand behind their work.
They plumbed my house ten years ago. Had issues during the process and they've come out several times (I've paid full rate) to fix clogged stacks and main lines.
They came out 6 months ago to clear one of the 2nd story stacks. Did a horrible 1/2 job and had to come out again 1 week later.
Now everything is backed up in the house. I called them and they said THEY DON'T HAVE A WARRANTY ON THEIR WORK.
Also they wanted $325 per hour vs the industry average of $200 or less. Not to mention the guys they send out are apprentices at best.
DON'T CALL THESE GUYS. Rip off and sh@tty work.
No pun intended. Never write reviews but do not recommend Riddell Plumbing.
The customer service is awful - not responsive, not communicative, do not follow up when requested and they demand payment for extremely poor customer service and not superior work. It took me hounding them to follow through and after no calls and little communication received an email at 2pm saying a technician would "stop by" that same afternoon.
No advance warning, details or heads up if that worked with schedule. The technicians did not seem informed or prepared for job in estimate, it was a 4 week process from quote to finish.
They only discounted me a slap in the face $150 off for a $1300+ "job" that did not mirror the quality. Would not hire them.
Much better plumbing services and quality of customer care out there. I am so incredibly impressed with this company and with the technicians/plumbers they sent out.
We had some sort of possible gas leak issue coming from around our fireplace and another plumbing company could not fix it, so we were referred to Riddell. My initial call to them and the appointment set up was easy and they were courteous and helpful.
Then came time for the actual appointment. Robbie and Zack were our technicians/plumbers and they were very professional, knowledgable and personable! They were very thorough in their efforts to determine the problem, which they then fixed.
They worked together very well as a team. We were worried that we were going to have to have LOTS of brick removed from our fireplace in order to fix a leak, but it turned out to be much easier to fix and no more brick had to come out.
Robbie had my family's safety as his top priority and made sure to check all junctions at the fireplace, pressure test our entire house's gas system, and check for leaks in the attic. He explained everything as he went, including the science behind it, which was appreciated by me and totally thrilled my two homeschooled girls, for whom everything is a learning experience! I cannot recommend Riddell Plumbing enough, and these two guys deserve to be recognized by their employer for their excellent work and customer service.
Thanks guys! Will definitely call on again. I was not a scheduled appointment for the day so my appointment was late in the day.
Nick T. was great.
He was personable and told me everything he was doing. We had a massive leak in our bathroom and they came out right away.
Brad Robinson and his team were very thorough and located the issue quickly. Brad was very knowledgeable about the plumbing, the house and what needed to be done.
This is a big job with a big price tag and he took his time to explain everything which made us feel better about having the work done. I would highly recommend Brad Robinson and Riddell Plumbing.
I was in a pinch, needing a plumber for a client, on a Friday-midday so I called Riddell. I haven't used them in years.
"Robin" said that I was 30th on the wait-list for that day. I asked if she could fit me in on Saturday.
She said "sure!" I was called 30 mins. before arrival time.
"Cameron"+1 came with patience and problem solving. Helpful, efficient and professional.
All points of contact were great and I will definitely use them again. Riddell Plumbing worked on my home about a year ago and repaired a frozen pipe that had broken.
After freezing weather this past weekend, the pipe broke again at the same spot. I called Riddell and they came out the same day to inspect the issue and the following day brought a supervisor over and made a full and complete repair at no charge.
I can say that Riddell stands behind its work and I am extremely impressed with the way they handled this situation. They have my unqualified recommendation.
Was THRILLED that you were not only able to come out the same day but your were there by 2:00 and completed shortly there after. Also took care of replacing a faucet that was not on the original complaint as well.
Could not be happier with the service I received yesterday from Riddell Plumbing. Had a broken pipe outside my house and they came over ASAP and fixed it in no time at all.
Pricing was more than reasonable and the crew was polite, professional, and funny. Could not ask for better service.
I rarely write reviews but I felt compelled to write one for Riddell plumbing. As a custom homebuilder, a quality plumber is very important.
Riddell has exceeded expectations, they are the best in the business. They handle complicated projects, client initiated change orders and unknowns that can happen on a job site with ease and professionalism.
The quality of their work coupled with great communication on the back office makes it a no brainer. You get what you pay for, if you want it done right the first time hire Riddell plumbing.
Public Be Warned!! This company has ruined my elderly and very sick parents nice Dallas home! Since Riddell was hired by my family a few years ago the plumbing in the home has NEVER worked properly with toilets not flushing and severe leaks and water damage in the home! I came to Dallas with my children for Christmas. We arrived and found water leaking into the downstairs closets and into the second floor bathrooms, and water was profusely leaking from the upstairs toilets (Riddell very recently installed) to the bathroom from the freaking light fixtures! I immediately contacted the horrific plumbers and asked them to come to the home on a emergency basis.
The woman who answered was very rude and could not even give me a time frame when the idiot plumbers would arrive! The Managers could not be bothered either. HOURS later the "technicians" arrived and I asked "what the hell was happening!" This technician said "I don't work for you!" And he left!!! This awful (want to be tech.)came back only after my sick mother called and begged the company to return to help with the flooding into the entire second floor! Riddell plumbers fixed nothing and left the home a complete disaster with only 1 working toilet, no showers, and a home full of children and elderly! We had to leave the home early so we could shower!!! Monday the "technicians" finally showed again and somehow talked my mother (who has cancer and dementia) Into calling the owner of Riddell pluming to apologize!!!! Again the technicians somehow convinced my mother to call the owner and apologize for my google/Facebook reviews! Does anyone realize how bad this is!!! The idiot plumbers are also charging for a water restoration company they should be paying for! This company is trying to convince my sick mother this was "a root problem!" No this is a severe company and employee problem who prey on the sick and elderly! Can't wait to see the outrageous bills these thieves charge my mom for problems they created and have blamed on "roots!!! " Please never ever call this company! They will ruin your home, the employees are rude, incompetent, and manipulating! Only contact them if you have an attorney who works in the family!!! I had two water heaters installed by RP Plumbing.
The installers were courteous and professional and reasonably priced. I have had a couple of minor questions follow the installation and Brian and Chelsea have gone out of their way to make sure all my questions were answered.
I would not hesitate to recommend RP Plumbing to anyone needing their services. Great Company.
Very pleased with the way they handled my needs. I will be calling them in the future! Came to my rescue at 1030pm on a Friday night and cleaned out my clogged line in under an hour.
Wonderful service, very professional and skilled. So glad I was referred to them.
We recently used Riddell Plumbing to replace all the cast iron pipes under the house and the line running from the house to the main line at the street. Initially everything was good (except for a lack of communication to confirm the start date and arrival time).
On the day the service was to start, the plumber showed up and pushed the work out 2 days. I was OK with this because I was promised he would bring 2 crews and everything would be completed in 1 day and wrapped up by the time our out of town guests were to arrive for the weekend.
The actual pipe replacement was completed in 1 day. What failed to happen was a coordination with the city regarding the permits and final inspection.
The work was completed on a Wednesday and we did not have sign off from the inspector and the ditch in our front yard filled until the following Friday. The city inspector showed up several times during the time period but was unable to properly inspect because the crews were not ready for him.
There was not only a lack of communication and coordination with the inspector but any communication with us was nonexistent. Every day I had to repeatedly call and text our plumber or his supervisor to try and find out what was going on.
Even calling the main office was of no help. No one there would return my calls.
When the ditch was finally filled in our yard, it was done horribly. The crew covered up one of my drainage boxes a and did not smooth out any of the dirt throughout the yard.
My front yard looked like a BMX course. The actual replacement of the pipes looks like a success but everything else about the experience has caused a lot of frustration and angst.
The guys did such a great job. We had has another plumbing company out earlier in the day and they completely screwed the pooch.
Brad and his partner came out and worked so hard to get us all fixed up. It was a reasonable price and we're happy to have our home put back together.
We were very pleased with Riddell Plumbing. Brian S.
and his helper were on time, professional and friendly. Brian installed a new water valve under our kitchen sink, so we could then have our new dishwasher installed.
I would certainly use their services again. This was the first time that I've had to call a plumber and it was a great experience! I came home to the sound of running water, but nothing was on....a pipe burst in the crawl space!! I had the city turn off my water until I could figure out who to call.
I chose Riddell Plumbing for service due to good reviews, prices were close to the other I called and a nice customer service lady. They came out the next day (it was cheaper than emergency same day) and they fixed it in about an hour.
They crawled in to the tight crawl space (only about a foot or so high) to get to the opposite side of the house where I heard the sound of running water. He found and fixed the problem in about in hour so thankfully it wasn't to expensive!! I will use them for my future needs but hopefully I will not require them soon! They put everything back like they found it and cleaned up after themselves.
The only plumber in Dallas I will use. Staffed by a group of professionals who know their craft, they deliver their service in a timely manner.
I've also noticed they go out of their way to clean up any messes they make while on the job. Excellent knowledge and straightforward information from the office and the plumber.
I've had two previous plumbing companies work recently and they were a one star compared to this respectable company. I am highly suggesting this company.
I called them last minute for an issue with a rental house we manage. They were very professional, they had excellent communication to let us know when they would be out and what the issue was after and their price was much lower than any other plumber.
Best part is they resolved an issue no other plumber could. I will continue to use this company again and again.
This company is great! I had another company coming to refinish both bathroom vanities and discovered the night before that the water cut-offs under the sinks were frozen and could not be turned off. This would have meant turning off the water to the whole house for a period of 4 days, which would have been very inconvenient! I called Riddell at 7 a.m.
and they were able to send Brian out within 1-1/2 hr. He was able to replace the cut-offs in both bathrooms, including both toilets and remove the faucets and drains in both bathrooms for the vanity refinishing job all in 1-1/2 hr.
He was amazing and did excellent work! I felt that their pricing was fair as well. Thank you Riddell Plumbing! Excellent customer service.
They came out after hours and made sure my plumbing emergency was addressed in the short term, while being able to save the long term work for a later time during regular hours (with regular rates). I won't hesitate to call Riddell again!! I have been a customer for 17 years.
I've used them for repairs, remodels and replacing hot water heaters. They have really gone down hill.
Customer service is non existent. Michael who is charge of service should not be allowed to deal with customers as he hung up on me when I complained about the lack of communication when parts are going to be late or his men were not going to make their appointments.
I called about a leaking tub faucet over a month ago. Sean couldn't even figure out how to get cartridge out to replace it.
That cost me $75. I got a new faucet and Javier spent a few hours here and two trips to Home Depot.
He got the old cartridge out but needed to order supply line connections for the new faucet. Maybe I could have saved on the new faucet if he came out first.
It took over a week for the parts and another week for the appointment to replace it. When Javier didn't show up for appt time I called and they said he was running four hours behind.
I would have called another company but they had the parts to my new faucet. He came the next day 30 minutes late.
I hope my new faucet gets replaced. I will update this review and let you know.
They have been working for almost an hour but the second plumber has spent most of that time in the truck looking for tools. Seems like Riddell is losing their touch.
Time to find a new plumber. I really have no way of knowing whether they did a good job They told me that the water heater I purchased from them had a poor quality part and my warranty ran out 3 months ago.
They no longer use certain brands because of the issue. I would have no way of knowing whether this is true, however, knowing that they installed something of poor quality, even if they didn't know it at the time, it seems like they would want to help a regular customer and give us some kind of discount on the repair.
I was then told that the replacement part is warranted forever. How does that happen? They did not provide me with the warranty statement however, nor did they leave the product information on the parts they purchased or produce the part they replaced which would have defined excellent service.
I was disappointed. Maybe they just re-lit the pilot light? How would I know what they did up in our attic?'''.
