Review and analyze now for company Austin Area Plumbing and provide the analysis in the discussed format for the following reviews: '''Dennis did a great job for us! We will call him again.Came right on time ( 2 days) and explained everything to my husband. We will certainly use him/them again. One day my daughter noticed water stains on the ceiling of her bedroom.
Right away, I knew right way where that was coming from. There were 2 tank water heaters in the attic above her bedroom.
Upon climbing into the attic to inspect, I found one of the water heaters was leaking at the top where the hot water exits the tank. Right away I called a plumbing company to get an estimate on replacing water heater.
The first company that came to the house suggested tankless water heater to replace both 20 year old tanks. So, I started Google searching for the best tankless heaters.
After that, I called three other plumbing companies to get their recommendations and estimates. Two companies that came to the house said I needed to remove the pull-down stair case assembling in order to get both tank water heaters out of the attic.
A third company said to leave the both 50 gallons and 40 gallons tanks in the attic. For the fourth company, I called Austin Area Plumbing (not to be confused with "Austin Area Pluming and Drain Cleaning).
Technician Garrett Beshears showed up. He went to the attic to inspect.
He came down and said he could remove both tanks without tearing down the pull down stair case, thus saving me extra work and cost. The first company said it was my responsibility to hire a roofer to install the heater's inlet/exhaust vents going through the roof.
The third company said they could run the PVC vents thought the existing metal cylinders. They said when the PCV pipes touch the vent caps at the top they would lower the pipe a few inches.
However, Garrett said it was not recommended because rust and debris could fall into the tankless water heat and cause problems later. He said he would run the pipes through the roof, put and seal the collars around the opening on top of the roof.
Both tank water heaters had 1/2" gas lines. Three companies said they would use one of the existing gas line to supply gas to tankless heater and cap off the other gas line.
Garrett said the tankless heater requires 3/4" supply line. A 1/2" line is not good enough.
He said since the main gas line is 1.0", he could connect to it with a 3/4" line. The model of the tankless units I was looking at came with a recirculating pump.
One company wanted to charge me $200 for crossover tee to speed up hot water delivery to fixtures. There was no extra charge for this tee from Austin Area Plumbing.
The cost estimate for the tankless water heater plus installation from 3 companies was comparable. But one company was $3,000.00 MORE for the same unit and work.
And it had good reviews! Garratt had to work in the attic and on top of the roof when it was super HOT. I felt sorry he had to work under this condition.
But he NEVER complain and NEVER took short cuts to finish and get the hell out from the heat!! He was extremely professional, as his work, and very accommodating. He did whatever I wished.
He did a superb job!! He is a hard working guy! I know this review may be very lengthy but I want you to know my experience with several companies with good reviews. But it's the technician that's doing the work that can make or break the company's reputation.
Great service, scheduling easy and efficient. Dennis did a great job installing our water softener.
It was my worst experience with this company. My texas rental house's Rinnai water heater displayed error code 11, and I found this company through the Rinnai website.
The first technician came to my house on June 12, 2024, spent only 15 minutes diagnosing the issue, and charged me $219.95. This fee included a mileage charge, which I was not informed about when making the appointment.
Initially, I was pleased that the problem seemed to be fixed. However, two weeks later, the same error reappeared.
When I called the company, they informed me that since the first technician had left the company and there was nothing wrong with his job, I would need to pay again for a different technician to come. I reluctantly agreed, given the recommendation from the Rinnai website.
The second technician arrived on July 16, 2024, advised me to perform a water flush, and charged me another $353.95. He eventually identified the issue as a faulty pressure reducing valve and provided a quote of $1,469.95 to replace it.
The frustrating part was when the second technician left, the front desk demanded immediate payment, threatening additional charges if I didn't pay right away, as the technician couldn't leave otherwise. I told the front desk that the technician could leave and I needed time to pay.
Feeling mistreated, I called the front desk to express my dissatisfaction with their urgency and rudeness. They directed me to speak with the director, Melissa.
Melissa insisted that the first technician had done his job correctly and acknowledged that the front desk shouldn't have been so pushy. This made me feel somewhat better, so I asked her if I could get a discount on replacing the valve.
She said it might be possible and would get back to me later. However, when I followed up with a text message asking about the discount, I received no response.
Right now I think the company is ridiculous, I paid the company not a specific technician, it is none of my business that the first technician left the company. Be careful of this company! Main waterline to the house started leaking and Dennis spent all afternoon trying to find the leak.
I appreciate him promptly arriving as promised, working on the issue, and restoring water to my house. I hope I never need his services again, but if I do, I will definitely call him.
Reasonable, Honest, Professional and Courteous Plumber! Over this past weekend on Saturday, Nov 11th, a neighbor alerted me to the fact that water was running down our driveway at a pretty high rate. I had hoped the issue was with sprinkler system, but sadly it was with our water main between the meter and our home.
I spent most of Saturday afternoon and all-day Sunday trying to locate the leak in our yard with countless hours of digging. Finally, on Monday early afternoon Roto Rooter came out with specialized Sonar equipment to narrow in on the leak.
They helped find a copper pipe (house side) and PVC pipe (yard side) that met under a poured concrete sidewalk to access our backyard. And then provided me an estimate of nearly $4000 to perform the repair, which would take approximately 3 hours.
I just couldn't believe the price.... so, I turned them down.
I spent the rest of Monday and most of Tuesday was focused on digging under the sidewalk to find the transition point between PVC and copper, which happened to be the point of failure. I also contacted two (2) different plumbers recommended by friends for estimates.
One was willing to do the work at hourly rate and a fraction (less than a third) of Rotor Rooter but still pricey for what I knew needed to be done. The other was Dennis with Austin Area Plumbing.
I called Dennis on Monday late afternoon, and he spent time with my on the phone hearing about my saga, the work I had done to uncover the leak, expose the pipes and reduce the repair work. He even looked at pictures I texted him to get a sense of the issue.
In the end, Dennis said, the more you can do to minimize my work, the more it will save you. He was a man of his word! Dennis put my on his schedule for Wednesday around noon.
On Tuesday, Dennis checked in with me on my progress and if I could still use his help, which I did. Finally, on Wednesday, he showed up promptly around noon with txt updates of his heading my way.
Upon arrival, Dennis surveyed my preparation and acknowledged that I had done all the "HARD" work in digging and exposing the issue. He proceeded to cut out the damaged pipes, discuss the pros and cons of two options with me, and then proceeded with an agreed to plan-of-attack.
We agreed to use PEX with copper-to-PEX fittings on the house side and PVC-to-PEX fittings on the yard side with a slightly bowed 1" PEX tube under the sidewalk to restore the water supply. After a little over an hour he was done, then we just had to wait for glue to cure and then test the repair.
Finally, the moment of truth... water turned on and no leaks...
Hooray! In the end, Dennis was the best option for us and the more reasonable price. I cannot thank Dennis with Austin Area Plumbing enough.
He is a true saint! If you need plumbing work done professionally by an experienced plumber with reasonable rates, look no farther - Call Austin Area Plumbing! I have used Austin Area Plumbing three separate times and I will definitely call them again in the future if needed. They have always been quick to respond and have fixed my problems every time.
They have cleaned up after themselves and have been very respectful. In my experience I give them an A+.
Yesterday Melissa and Garrett of Austin Area Plumbing were my heroes. I had a serious emergency plumbing problem and Melissa moved mountains to get someone out right away to turn the water off at street (Blake, also a hero) because I couldn't get the manhole cover off.
This avoided catastrophe. A little later Garrett arrived and fixed everything for a reasonable price .
The service is excellent. I used them once before (Dennis is also excellent) and will use them for any future problems.
First time using Austin Area Plumbing. My washing machine drain pipe was clogged.
Garratt did a great job of explaining why the drain was clogged and showed me a photo of the blockage. He used a commercial auger to move the blockage down to the larger pipe so water would flow again.
I very highly recommend. The only thing I wish I'd known was that I could have got a $30 coupon on their website before the work was done, but I didn't know about it.
I will definitely use this company again !! Husband took off work for the plumber appointment and waited and waited and they never showed. Called after the appointment window had gone by and they said they had cancelled our appointment and didn't even bother to let us know! Absolutely unprofessional.
Thanks for ghosting us and costing us income we needed. Had a problem with our bathroom where a sewer smell was coming through somewhere.
It's never happened before so this was completely new. We called around to several plumbing services and Austin Area Plumbing was the best in pricing starting with sending someone out to do a free estimate vs charging you an initial fee just to come out.
Garrett was amazing and thorough in investigating what was going on. He narrowed it down to being a toilet issue that needed to be reset and resealed.
We wanted to hold off to do the work as we had plan to do a bathroom remodel sometime soon. Garrett was so helpful in explaining the potential risks and was not at all pushy! A couple of days later the sewer smell returned.
We decided to not hold off any longer and immediately thought of Garrett. Called and he was able to get come by in a couple of business days.
He did an amazing job and went above and beyond in fixing it. Also extended our work guarantee to 12 months.
Also should mention pricewise they were also the best! Great quality work, communication and price! The company is very responsive and neighborly. I remember when they helped us during the freeze, when everyone told us there would be a 6mo wait.
These guys made it happen, even drove to other states to get water heater when all other companies just said "sorry you are out of luck". I thought I might have a leak and they did not treat me like it was a meaningless request to come and ck it out.
Came right over accessed the issue immediately. There was no leak just a possible clogged ac return tube.
Answered all my questions and wouldn't even take payment on the house call. True hometown company, thanks James! Excellent service! I had a plumbing issue while out of town guests were visiting and they were able to address the issue quickly and efficiently! Javier was our service provider and he was on time, professional, knowledgeable and really wonderful to work with! We will definitely be using them for any future plumbing needs! Julie and team do a great job with any plumbing need in town! They are honest to the point that she told me about a video online that allowed me to do the quick fix and save the expense of having a plumber out.
My mother in law however recently had a much bigger project taken care of by AAP with great pricing, very responsive, and got the job done as promised right in time... thank you Austin Area Plumbing! Javier installed a Moen flo water shutoff and did an amazing job! Amazing service and attention to details! Garrett of Austin Area Plumbing did a fantastic job of addressing our two areas of concern.
He walked through all the options clearly and after our approval did a equally great job of fixing these two areas. Highly recommend and will work with Austin Area Plumbing again in the future.
I absolutely recommend Austin Area Plumbing. Their certified Journeyman Plumber Mycol F, aided by his apprentice Mikey L.J., replaced two toilets in our house.
On scheduled day, Mycol discovered right away that I had purchased toilets which would require structural changes and far more expense. Mycol helped me identify which toilets that would fit, saved me money on the toilet cost and came back next day to install new replacement toilets.
Another complication: Our tile floor was not level. Mycol with assistant Mikey seated the toilet on a level plane, using shims.
We are absolutely satisfied and would recommend Austin Area Plumbing without reservation. Austin Area Plumbing only advertises by word of mouth, so they are much more affordable than big chains or those companies that advertise.
I would most definitely hire them again! Super fast and friendly service. Communication was great both be fore and after service was completed.
I am a household manager in Austin and this company has provided great service for us. Garrett came and installed a new faucet.
He is knowledgeable and experienced and helped steer us in the right direction when picking out a new faucet when the old one broke beyond repair. Also their prices were cheaper than competitors in town.
We definitely will be using them again! I always call Dennis with Austin Area Plumbing for our plumbing needs and am never disappointed. He and his assistant Mickey recently replaced our tankless water heater and did a spectacular job at a great price.
I highly recommend them for any plumbing needs! I had a problem with a leaking toilet and with the hot water heater. Repairman Star arrived promptly and did great work.
Fortunately, the problems proved to be minor and he took care of them quickly and efficiently. Star was very friendly, gave me an honest assessment of the problems, and is clearly very knowledgable.
After he fixed the toilet, there was some water on the floor that he carefully cleaned up. Without rushing, he completed all the work in a short period of time.
Highly recommended! I have personally met most of the people who work and operate this company. I can specifically say I have seen Dennis at work and in action doing what he does best for over 40 years.
He is very confident and knowledgeable about his work. Dennis is compassionate and courteous, and who can ask for anything more ? Small company with a big heart and work they stand behind.
I strongly recommend this company for your family home. Austin Area Plumbing and Drain Cleaners has your back.
I know more than 15 people who have called and asked for Dennis from this company the past year, and all have wonderful things to say about him and his work. They are competitive and fairly priced.
Monica Lifgren Dennis has fixed 3 plumbing issues for me in the past 4 months. One issue was correcting a botched job from another plumbing company.
In each case, he was on time, courteous, and professional. I believe that his prices were competitive, and I would highly recommend his services to anyone in need of plumbing services.
My tankless water heater froze during the Big Freeze. I tried dealing with other authorized dealers, who did nothing for me.
Dennis went out of his way to help me, and even though he wasn't able to repair it (the manufacturer no longer produces the parts), I appreciated the effort. I finally decided to replace the water heater, which he did the very next day at a very reasonable price.
Highly recommended. It's November and we just had Dennis back to install a battery backup for our tankless water heater.
Last trip here, Dennis let us now there is a HUGO battery backup available for the new Rinnai tankless water heater Dennis installed in February. The HUGO battery keeps the unit from freezing AND provides water for about five to seven days of hot showers when power goes out again.
After the 2021 ERCOT freeze we decided it was worth the cost of the battery. Dennis installed the battery and a brass flow sensor -- and for MUCH less than the cost of the battery.
We are very pleased with the work. Dennis has years of experience, very knowledgeable, honest and professional.
Garrett did excellent amd tireless work and cleanup on major drain repair for the kitchen drain. He was able to under the dishwasher to get to the break and did the rough concrete repair instead of tearing up my outside wall.
He was very courteous and professional. The plumber showed up as scheduled for the estimate.
After he explained the situation, I felt he knew what he was talking about, and I hired him to proceed with the work. He spent 6 hours with his elbows up to mud finding the leak.
The charge was $300 less than the other quote I received. The plumber was professional and diligent in finding and fixing the problem.
If I have another plumbing problem, I will call this company. Our water heater busted and was leaking the day before yesterday, but I didn't realize it until after work and after hours.
I drained it and shut off the water intake line & gas to keep it sound until we could get someone out. I called Austin Area Plumbing yesterday to get an estimate at about 11:30a on my lunch (I have a very busy work schedule) and Blake Byrd was out to my house within a couple of hours and ON TIME! He was very helpful and efficient, explaining to me what we needed and provided an estimate.
He was willing to work with me on getting us what we needed and within our budget. He was patient with me, explaining anything I asked thoroughly and with kindness - which is fairly rare these days in customer service! He got the water heater replaced same day and STILL took the time to show me how to light it and if any emergencies occurred, where the valves were for cut off (even though I probably could have figured it all out on my own, I asked to have him run me through it and he happily did!) and what the process would be.
He reminded me it's best to flush it once yearly and that if there is anything at all I needed, to call him and he'd be there to help. Blake Byrd not only won our business yesterday, but I have delightfully found myself a new plumber that is fair, responsive, and helpful and I am just over joyed that I had this experience! My faith is restored! THANK YOU BLAKE BYRD AND AUSTIN AREA PLUMBING FOR ALL YOU DID FOR OUR FAMILY YESTERDAY! Austin Area Plumbing is our go-to call for any household plumbing needs.
We will never go anywhere else after experiencing the incredible customer service. Dennis and the rest of the staff are responsive, quick, and VERY knowledgeable about all things plumbing.
Our bathroom flooded on New Years Eve and he answered the call right away and walked us through what we needed to do so that our house would not flood further. Not only did he answer every call and text, but he also came out ON NEW YEARS DAY to assess the issue.
He then came out a couple days later to fix everything and we could not have been happier or more thankful through the process. He takes the time to explain everything in detail and truly has the customer in mind through the whole process.
Do yourself a favor, and only call Austin Area Plumbing from here on out! They truly are #1 in the #2 business! After calling two other big name companies, to replace a broken water valve under my bathroom sink I contacted Austin Area Plumbing. Both the name brand companies showed 24/7 service, but neither could not see me till Monday.
I had the water turned off at the main and couldn't see myself and family waiting for three days without being about to turn on the water. Austin Area Plumbing said that they could be at my house within the hour.
Blake arrived and said that he could replace both valves in no time. What a relief that was.
And he even helped me install the drain. Cobey is fantastic! He came to repair our hot water heater on his day off since he didn't want us to be without hot water over the weekend! now that's service!! I was very happy with the service on my tank-less Navien water heater.
Cobey was on time and very professional. It was refreshing to have someone very knowledgeable about the high-end Navien unit.
It is working like new again. I'll be getting regular maintenance service from these guys from now on.
We had our hot water heater finally go out. We called Austin Area Plumbing and spoke to Stephanie.
She was very nice on the phone and set us up for Kobe to come by and look at it! Kobe arrived on time, and was vey knowledgeable. He worked up a quote and we like how fair the quote was.
We told the to go ahead and get replaced! Kobe got it installed same day and we were back with hot water. Thanks AAP! Steve M Pflugerville Nick installed a new kitchen faucet for us when our old one was leaking.
He was prompt, courteous, and was able to finish the job in a timely manner. I appreciated that he wore booties over his shoes to keep our floors clean, and he removed all the packaging when he was finished.
Thanks, Nick! Austin Area Plumbing is the only place to go. Changed out my two 50 gallons water heaters that were 12 years old with a new tankless system.
Bought the tankless at Lowe's and AAP installed for 1/3 the price Costco was asking. Whole system is in for under $3500.
And wow, the old water heater was about to go. Michael and Miguel were fantastic and you need to ask for them by name.
They are the best. i was delighted.
my propane supplier was impressed when he did safety check. after last year's big freeze, my ancient tankless heater did not come back to life.
Blake installed Rinnai unit. joy! he also replaced faucets and advised that bathtub faucet needed replacing.
after bathtub faucet arrived, i scheduled more time with Blake. some scheduling snafu delayed his appearance by a week or so.
there had been more freezing weather so waiting for a drippy faucet was reasonable. Blake does 10-star work.
many thanks! I had a 3p appointment today. It is almost 5 and they are still not here.
I cannot reach them either. And I told them I could not be here after 5p.
Highly unimpressed. Do not use.
Unreliable, at least today. UPDATED: the owner addressed it with me privately...
I appreciate him being proactive. I have recommended AAP to many of my clients.
As an insurance agent I am constantly getting requests for plumbing referrals. After meeting with Lorelei to discuss how AAP can help me with my clients needs, I was sold.
My clients have been very pleased with the service and cost. Highly recommend.
These guys really are #1 in the #2 Business!! They had a van out and repairs made in under 24 hours. A menu of services shows exact pricing of all their services so you know exactly what you're getting.
I'm impressed. Thank you!! They gave my home warranty co false information about my kitchen sink plumbing problem and my warranty claim was denied.
They did though take my $75 and did no work. FRAUDULENT COMPANY- Stay Away!! Sewer blocked between house and street.
Nick came out well within the scheduled window. Priced the job a little below the phone quote and tried to clear it, but it really needed heavier equipment that he could go get, no problem.
We were then educated by him that since the blockage was estimated to be right at where the city may cover it, we could try calling the City as an alternate option to getting it rootered out by him. Turns out the City would cover it after some initial inspection.
Wow! The pipe had roots clogging it for a few feet. Thanks Nick for educating us and saving us $ as well.
Not everyone would do that. Pretty sure I know where our upcoming water heater job is going.
OMG, the last thing you ever want to see on a Monday is a WET spot in the middle of the floor. That's right, we had a burst pipe in the slab.
Pierre Dupree with Austin area Plumbing came right out was able to figure out which one it was, cap the pipe then route new pipe up the wall, through the attic and back down to the manifold. I gladly paid a very fair price for his experience.
Here's what I didn't know about him. He's been on just about every continent, held plumbing licenses in different countries and has been "problem solving" for over 15 years.
He is a solution finder and can help you with everything water related Call Pierre and meet one of the most intelligent people you'll ever meet. P.S.
I asked him to "tweek" my water pressure up just a bit and he was able to do that too. Now my water sprinkler with actually be able to twirl instead of just weakly hobbling around.
P.S. I wish there were 10 stars, I'd give him that for sure.
my 5 years old Rinnai tankless heater cannot work with error code 11, i called blake to diagnose, he came 3 times total of 5.5 hours but the issue did not fix, total bill 960 dollars including gas pressure check (273 dollars?gas pressure increase (179.95 dollars), heater clean up by air purge (507 dollars). i did my last try myself before pay another big bill to replace the whole heater unite, issue got solved by just tying a floating cable to ground myself, which is the instruction from google, i am very disappointed with this long diagnosis, grounding check is in the standard troubleshooting checklist, and the chamber clean up charge is also unreasonable high, it only took one hour to open the cover and purge only, but the bill is 607 dollars.
well, after the big freeze, everything is getting expensive, but the 607 dollars charge for a 1-hour failures diagnosis is still unbelievable.
