I sadly write this review due to the repeated non-response of John and RJ Plumbing, both this year and last. Most recently I left a message describing services needed early yesterday morning via both his preferred text and the listed office phone to address.
I had three plumbing issues at my home: drain stoppers, a leaky faucet base, and replacing a kitchen faucet. He has not responded via text or phone.
The same thing happened about a year ago or so; I chalked it up to Covid, but maybe not. To be fair, I'd used John in the past; he was excellent, fair-priced, and efficient, even answering questions about what I'd need to do to maintain his new repairs.
I'm sorry that he has become non-responsive. Had to reroute a gas line and he came in with a fair price and completed in timely manner.
Will use again for plumbing issues. Our 75 gallon water heater began to leak a couple weeks ago so I started calling around to get estimates for a replacement.
I got about 5 estimates and a couple were similarly priced including RJ's and the others were way over priced (30-40% over). I went with John at RJ because he was responsive, knowledgeable and came across honest.
He came on time and completed the job quickly and neatly. He helped me subsequently troubleshoot a small problem with the hot water faucet and was super responsive.

Four came for an estimate, but just three actually provided an estimate. My house is on a slab, and two of them wanted to jack hammer the slab under my bathroom to get at the drain.
It would also mean that I would have to find new 12" tiles, which would never match. John took a little extra time to analyze how the original drain was constructed and came up with a much faster and much less expensive solution.
I awarded the job on the spot. The key is EXPERIENCE.
Other plumbers will send out a newer technician or a sales person to provide your estimate. As the owner, John has the experience to see the most options and provide the best solution.

Backstory: For several years I've been using a plumbing service that drove a distance to get to my area. I liked that they were avail 24/7 (and I did have emergencies) but the older, experienced guys I've worked with are no longer there.

You can't call him at 2am on a weekend so know where your main water shut-off is, just in case. My immediate problem was declining water pressure/volume as I tried to water landscaping the past couple weeks.
I disabled all the sprinklers a few years back during the drought & discovered it's more efficient to water by hand, although very time-consuming. So there I was recently, with water exiting hoses like a limp noodle as I stood in the blazing sun ready to tear my hair out by its bleached blond roots.
A pressure regulator is a good idea (so your pipes don't blow up) & I always have one installed wherever I live. I suspected mine might need adjustment & I was right.
John increased the pressure. Meanwhile, I learned about water volume - different from pressure.
To increase the volume I need to get the water dept. out to change the meter - my next task.
John had some great ideas to make my watering experience easier, like adding a hose bib, etc. & I will consider his suggestions.
But for now I'm back in business with the hoses & the interior faucets are functioning more like normal. And John is wonderful.

As long as I'm on the subject of water: I have a big two-tiered concrete fountain in my back yard that doesn't work & leaks but is too heavy to move so the previous owner left it here & I fill it daily to use as a bird bath. The birds not only drink from it but they congregate on it.

It finally started leaking and we knew it was time. Reached out to various places.
John was very professional in his communication, provided a reasonable estimate on both time to fix and cost, and stuck to both of them. He helped assess what needed to be done as a result of the leak which helped give us piece of mind on next steps.
He actually showed up ahead of schedule and had quoted about 2 hours to swap it out but it took substantially less - I guess it was a relatively simple situation (water heater in garage with relatively easy access). I then asked about a bbq gas line that was incorrectly installed (hint: stay away from Fix All Plumbing who messed it up initially) and he gave me the information I needed to fix it myself instead of doing it himself which definitely saved me some money.
I followed his instructions and was able to seamlessly fix it with $30 in parts. I find it rare to come across an honest plumber (several bad experiences), so it was refreshing to work with John.

I've had John come out on two separate occasions now and both were extremely positive experiences. The first job was to replace the hardware on our pedestal sink in the downstairs bathroom.
John arrived on time and quoted the job after assessing the current sink/hardware configuration. After installing the new hardware, he noticed the stopper was missing a piece required to function properly.
Rather than leave it as is and call it a day, he advised me to swap it out for a working one and offered to come back the next day and finish the job. Yesterday, I had John come back to look at my upstairs sink which had been draining slow and was now at a full clog.
John advised against snaking it right away as the trap was old and could break causing an even bigger issue. He plunged the sink and was able to clear the clog in no time.
He also took the time to explain the reason for the clog and gave some recommendations on possible upgrades. I can't recommend R.J.

My mom's water heater was making noises that were worrying her, so I finally called John to ask him to take a look. He was prompt, friendly and considerate (he wore a mask and even removed his shoes.) He flushed out some of the sediment, checked the pipes, and explained to my mom that the noises are normal and there isn't anything to worry about.
(Even though I told her the same, she didn't believe me!) Anyway, I'm thankful that her mind is at ease now. John was also nice enough to check the water flow and suggest changes in order to try to improve it.

That was nice, but Mom's drain was just really slow, so we opted to wait for the RJ Plumbing with the super-fantastic Yelp reviews.

:-) My Mom reports that a very tall plumber arrived who was super nice and clean & courteous, plus he was highly skilled. He cleared the drain, and replaced some fittings under the sink and made Mom feel at ease.
She just knew things were going to be all right because he was so nice and competent. She said he is a thinker.
He considered each part of the problem & the correct way to approach it. And - way better than the previous lameo who couldn't fix a slow drain - RJ didn't make any mess.
RJ totally solved the problem in all ways possible. We don't expect to have any more issues with Moms kitchen sink for years to come.
BTW; RJ recommends against dumping cooked rice down the drain. When it came time to pay the bill, he offered Mom a senior discount, so even including the extra parts & labor it was still not much over a hundred bucks.
(Original estimate was $95) Mom was thrilled with the service, and we know who to call next time we have a plumbing issue. I can see why RJ Plumbing is booked up days in advance.

We took out the tub and put in a walk-in shower. They recommended a great tile guy, a hot mop guy, and a cement cutter.
Everyone they recommended were extremely courteous and professional....but mostly knowledgeable about their work. John even recommended buying a particular toilet that saved us money and known by him to be a great product.
He was very truthful when we took out the tub and found four pipes that could not be moved and worked with our tile guy to come up with a great solution. John, has been our plumber for years and always does excellent work.

6 stars if I could give it. It's funny, today I saw Mattucci Plumbing's truck drive by, and I was reminded of my experience with them and R.J.
Plumbing last year, and I said to myself, "I need to share this on Yelp." I bought my house last year and discovered the water heater's pilot light igniter was failing. If I was able to get the pilot to light, it would go out after half an hour.
The heater was about 7 years old. I first called Mattucci and they sent someone over.
The guy stood there, looked at the heater from afar, and told me it was a piece of junk. Without even trying to diagnose the problem or to see what might be wrong, he was pushing me to buy a brand new heater from him at an outrageously inflated price.
I showed him the door. Then I called RJ Plumbing.
John, the owner, came by and immediately I could tell I made the right decision. John tried his best to fix the issue.
He took apart the igniter unit, cleaned out various things, and tried for about an hour to get it to work. And it looked like he finally did.
I gladly paid him for his work and he left. A couple of hours later, the pilot went out again.
I called John up and he came by again. He tried to fix it again, but he figured the igniter was beyond saving.
He helped me call the manufacturer for replacement parts, but between the cost of the replacement parts and the time it would take for the parts to arrive, I decided to just buy a new one from John. He not only gave me a great deal on a brand new water heater (cheaper than if I were to buy it myself and lug it home from Home Depot), he applied the labor fees that I paid him earlier that day towards the installation! It was a gesture that was very much appreciated.
John installed my new water heater quickly and professionally, and it has been working great. John is very knowledgeable, very friendly, stands by his work, and very honest.

How very nice that he remembered me! Our bathroom faucet was leaking and our tub was draining slowly so I called this place because of all the positive reviews on Yelp. They gave me a narrow 2 hour window of arrival within one day, which was nice so I didn't have to sit around for hours waiting.
In fact, John came right on time. He was very conscientious about cleanliness, very professional, and friendly.
He gave me his card at the end, and he is also the president of the company. He told me where I could get the parts I needed and he could return to replace them, since that would be cheaper than if he got the parts himself.

John from RJ Plumbing did a great job - and most importantly he was friendly, clean, prompt and so helpful! It's so nice to find a plumber that you can count on if you need something fixed! Prices were reasonable too - definitely a plus! We will be calling him again if we ever need plumbing help! Oh John, why is your service so fantastic?! Best plumbing experience I've ever had.
(I know... kinda a weird statement) Let's be honest, We all get a little anxiety with plumbers...
It's like a mechanic for your house. You have one problem and then they show up and allllllll of a sudden they disclose that your house is on the verge some catastrophic disaster...
(I'm sure you can relate) Fear not, RJ plumbing is not the same! First, he was super respectful and removed his shoes before entering (we don't wear shoes in our house). So, super big thumbs up for that! John was so personable, prompt, and courteous.
He took his time to explain the deets before the service and recommended other options to save money. Highly recommended.
Perhaps I should break the toilet so I can have this awesome experience all over again. ;) PS.

2 weeks after buying our townhouse our water heater busted. I called his office in the evening and he was at my house the next morning with a new American-made (major points) water heater.
3 months later a pipe bursts in our wall and again, he was at my house within 2 hours to assess the situation. He came back with a leak specialist after his other calls and got everything done by the end of the day.
His office assistant is very nice and on top of everything. Trustworthy and priced-well.
I asked him about some other plumbing issues and he told me how to fix it myself. Sometimes I get a little sketchy about letting in contractors when I'm the only one home, but felt totally safe with RJ's Plumbing.

Plumbing had done a great job on a neighbor's valve replacement. It's a messy job, involving concrete demolition and a water shut-off for the whole condo complex so I wanted the work done right and on-time.

Plumbing for ANY plumbing work. Our hot water heater stopped working Friday before a holiday weekend.
I called RJ Plumbing and got the machine. He took the time to call me back to let me know he was out of town.
After calls to a couple other local guys, Home Depot and even Mike Diamond Plumbing ($875 estimate with $76 service call) I came up empty. We went the whole weekend with no hot water.
Tuesday morning I started calling again, they actually cleared some time to come install a new heater, for less then Home Depot quoted. They were awesome :) Great experience and reasonable price.
I heard a sound like I had left a hose running. After checking all the hoses, pool, faucets, etc the sound could still be heard from under the house.
I called RJ based on the great reviews here on Yelp. It was a Friday and I really didn't have an expectation that someone would be available.
As luck would have it, John had a break in another job and came over within an hour. Thank goodness he did.
There was a small hole in a pipe that was shooting water non stop. John was able to put a clamp on it to stop the water.
He returned the week following to replace the pipe section. It was so wet under the house it made sense to wait a few days for it to dry out.
He was very professional and transparent with everything he did. Showed me photos before the clamp was applied and even handed me the section of pipe he replaced.
I have heard so many terrible stories from friends about various local plumbers. I have told all of them to put RJ into their phone directory.
Professional, clean, and honest. Plus John's wife who answered the phone was really great too.
Once she heard my story she knew it was a pin hole leak and it needed to be addressed quickly. If she had not tried to see if John had a break in the other job he was working that day, I would of had to find someone else.
She didn't over promise, but she sure did come through. Above and beyond.
No wonder they have 100% five rating! I needed a gas line repaired and John was the only plumber to analyze the root cause to come up with the most efficient solution. The repair was completed in less time, with less cost than any other plumber could have done.
He even found away to move around certain cabinets and a difficult lazy Susan so I didn't have to replace them AND after he was done the lazy Susan worked better than it had in years. Responded promptly to my request, gave a fair estimate and arrived promptly.
I would call him again next time I need a plumber! We have used RJ plumbing for over 10 years. Services were needed at our personal residence and on investment properties.

When in need of a plumber this is the company to call! John was great with communication and very fair on price for scope of work we needed! Definitely would recommend. John is very professional, friendly, and honest each time he's come to do some work. He has unclogged a drain, fixed a faucet, and redone a section of a bathroom sewage pipe.
There's some additional work that needs to be done on the sewage pipe for our bathroom and I will be scheduling that work to be done in the future. He showed me a picture of the work to be done and explained everything thoroughly regarding what he did as a temporary fix, how long we can wait to schedule the work, and described the extent of what was to be done.
I highly recommend him! Showed up as expected, resolved the issue timely. Easy to do business with.
We had a tile floor put in, and did not notice a small gap between the toilet wax ring and the toilet. Eventually some small amount of moisture appeared, and we called John.
He immediately identified the issue, added a second ring, and was done quite straight away. He even came back just now to adjust it for us at no cost as it settled and was in need of a shim.
He cleans up afterwards (rare), caulks the job (somewhat rare) and has his supplies in the truck. John is very reasonably priced, efficient, courteous, a really nice guy and even on time! Dealing with them over the phone is also a pleasant, easy process.
He has been plumbing for many years and seems to do it all, big job or small. Thanks very much John! I am a repeat customer.
John came out to my rental again to diagnose a plumbing problem (different from the previous time). He fixed it in a timely manner.

He showed up on time, brought everything he needed with him, got to work, finished in an hour, and billed me LESS than the estimate!
