Review and analyze now for company John Snyder Plumbing and Heating and provide the analysis in the discussed format for the following reviews: '''I highly recommend John Snyder. The folks that work for him are very personable and knowledgeable.
They get the job done and don't take advantage of you. I feel that for the work and service that they deliver is the best.
I think the price is always fair and I am confident in their work. I stumbled across this business because I had called two other more local companies for estimates (Wm Henderson and Oliver) but they both charge an $89 fee just to come provide an estimate AND they don't credit that fee toward any work they complete.
So, I found John Snyder and got an appointment the next day! John Snyder charges a $49 fee for the visit, but they apply the charge to any work that you do which I appreciate. John arrived on time but I didn't get the promised 30-minute heads-up text which I later learned was because they had both my email and phone number incorrect.
Mistakes happen though and we got that fixed so that I could receive subsequent notifications, e.g., the proposal. John was professional, friendly, and really seemed to know his stuff.
He assessed the situation, offered the solution, and later that day provided an estimate. Because I needed the work done (and because of his expertise), I'd say it was clear that I was committed to using John to do the work.
But, after receiving the quote and a photo of the material he proposed to use, I had questions about the product and the work which I sent to him. In fairness, on a Friday evening.
Over the weekend, I worried about our situation deteriorating so I emailed him with a question about shutting our boiler system down, and he was responsive and offered to stop by on Monday which we ended up not needing. Three business days later, John hadn't responded about the questions related to the proposed work, so I emailed him to follow-up.
Now five business days later, still no response. Ghosted! Luckily, I quickly identified other options, but it's disappointing that we both invested time and effort and he just stopped responding.
In reading through the Yelp reviews, I see that this isn't an unusual practice. Great service! We needed two vanity sinks drains adjusted.
Called this morning and by 2pm Anthony and Anthony were done with the project! Very efficient and professional team. Outstanding service! Everything from my initial contact, to service visit, to fix was charismatic and professional.
Very quick response time by knowledgeable and efficient plumbers. I highly recommend this rarity of a business.
This review is specific to my experience with their customer service department. I called John Snyder Plumbing and Heating on 9/21 to make a non-urgent toilet repair appointment.
The associate I spoke with was friendly and professional, and she was able to get me on their schedule for 10/12 between 8:30AM-12:30PM. l deliberately booked that service several weeks in advance to ensure that I would be able to take off work.
I received a confirmation email moments after making the appointment, and another email reminder on 10/5, a week prior to the scheduled service. Perfect.
The day the day of the appointment arrived, and I had not seen or heard from anybody by noon. I called their main telephone number (267-804-1824) at 12:18PM to inquire about the appointment status.
Nobody picked up. I called another five times and was unable to get through to anybody.
I left a voice message explaining that I had a service scheduled that morning and was wondering if we were still on. At 3:33PM, I received a message from Megan, one of their customer service associates, explaining that it was "hard to transcribe" the voice message I had left earlier, and that she'd be "more than happy to help me schedule an appointment or whatever it is that you need" if I could give them a call back.
At this point, I called another local plumbing company and scheduled an appointment for the following week. The next day (10/13) at 9:37AM, I receive a text message from Megan letting me know that "John made me aware of that you were supposed to have an appointment yesterday for some reason I apologize the system unscheduled it" and asking if she could help me reschedule the appointment.
I explained that I understood these things happen and that it was frustrating not being able to get in touch with anybody the previous day, especially given that I had taken off work. I asked if they could stop by that same day (Friday).
Megan replied that they were booking into the following week and offered me an appointment the following Thursday (10/19) or Friday (10/20). She also offered to give me $50 off, which was a nice gesture, but did not make up for the day of work I had already missed.
While I cannot comment on the quality of their work, which seems to be solid based on other reviews here, my experience with their customer service department was negative overall. Technical issues will arise even in the most well-managed companies; however, it is ultimately up to the people to make that right, and that did not happen here.
It should not take three hours to be able to get someone on the phone. It should not be too much to ask for a more formal apology.
And it should be their priority to make things right for the customer they have failed, not just to get them "back on the schedule" with a modest penance. Booked these guys to come out and work on a leak I have in the bathroom.
They said the appointment was for 12pm on the call. OK.
That's good. In the email the appointment was for somewhere between 12pm-2pm.
OK, not as good, but standard. At 1:50pm I call to see if the technician was going to make it--I had moved a few meetings around and was sure to be home to meet the guy--and was told "Oh, he had let us know he's really backed up and I forgot to call you.
I'll give him a call and get back to you." A few minutes later I get a call back, "He should be there in an hour." Well, we had already seen how that went once. It would be nice if they were a little more respectful of my time, as I tried to be of theirs.
They might do great work once they show up. Xavier and Mooney came out to my home to assess my sump pump.
They were professional and courteous. They immediately performed an assessment and were able to give me recommendations.
I will definitely call them again. Highly recommend.
I am giving John Snyder a 4/5 because I initially had a very frustrating and confusing miscommunication situation regarding the service/work order description and quote, and a last minute, day-of appointment cancelation by the tech. HOWEVER, John Snyder came out himself the next day and the following Monday and worked through all the confusion, took responsibility for his Tech and the resulting extra work/time.
John overcame all obstacles and was professional, thorough, kept me in the loop, and was adamant about honoring the quote I was originally given, even though it would have cost way more. Overall, the work he did is fantastic and I felt he made up for the situation with his tech.
I imagine how challenging this line of work can be, and I understand that things do not always go as planned; so I appreciate all that John did to rectify the situation, his work is excellent, and I would use him again. Needed fill valve replaced on toilet.
Replaced quickly and efficiently. Arrived as scheduled I think this company is a scam, but they might just be extremely unprofessional.
Called them up early in the week for an estimate. Receptionist is pleasant, says they can send someone out on Wednesday around noon.
They ask for a 50 dollar deposit that can either be refunded or applied to the job if I choose to go with them. Sounds reasonable enough, so I agree and the appointment is set up.
Two gentlemen arrive at my house between the time they sent me over text (12-3) and I show them the radiator system, boiler etc. While showing the boiler, the plumber starts talking about what could be wrong, and mentions that their general service fee is 340.
I mention not being worried about that, seeing as I may need more than general service and I would wait till I get a break down of what I would be expected to pay for the service on my unit and the many other things they mentioned would probably need fixing. I never got that during my "estimate" though.
After rambling a bit about what could be the issue, they eventually started looking at the radiators themselves. He used his radiator key to bleed a couple of the ones he looked at.
Then he mentioned "getting started" in which case I was confused, because I only wanted to get an estimate. I told the plumbers I only wanted an estimate today, no work to be done, seeing as I'm trying to shop around to get a decent deal and not just go with the first company I found with good reviews.
Plumber sounded surprised, but then said okay and that they would "update the invoice". Now I'm worried, should I not just be charged for an estimate? Why does that need to be updated? Minutes after they leave I check my email and see that they sent me an invoice for 150 dollars.
"Purge multi zone baseboard heating system". This man came into my house, spent 10 minutes looking at the unit and bled a handful of radiators, and I'm suddenly charged 150 dollars? All I wanted was an estimate.
I figured there had to have been some kind of miscommunication, so I call and the receptionist tells me they will have the plumber reach out to me. The plumber texts me, "I said the price in which case you responded you weren't worried about that, so I took that as verbal committal." I literally wanted an estimate, and there was no break down of what that general service was for me to even remotely agree.
I try calling the phone number listed again to try to figure out why these guys were sent out with the expectation of doing more than an estimate, but they do not pick up the phone anymore when I call. I left a message but they have never called me back.
So in the end, I was charged 50 dollars, with the expectation to pay another 150, for a guy to come out and bleed 3-4 of my radiators. If this is not a scam, than this is some of the worst "business" I have ever had the displeasure of dealing with.
Be careful if you try to book business with this company. We hired them because our usual plumber was out of town.
They did a serviceable job at an above average price (i.e. higher than our plumber would have charged) with below average customer service.
They have never answered our inquiries about a leftover part from a job they completed. I'll stick with my regular plumber going forward.
Had a leaking shower faucet and 5 to 6 plumbers that we contacted just read our message and no reply at all. John and the team response even during Saturday, and come earlier than they mentioned on the call.
With a reasonable price. Great in communication.
Highly recommended. Xavier of Snyder Plumbing called and texted before he came.
He provided a competitive estimate for gas capping work and answered all of my questions. I was looking for a dependable, honest and good plumber.
I was happy with the way they came out and gave an estimate, discussed all questions and sent dependable and Knowledgeable people out to do the work. They were efficient, worked to get it right, came when they said they would be there and were clean.
The work that they did fixed my ongoing issue and I'm super happy. Will be using again in the future!! Xavier responded to the call so quickly and he was incredibly helpful with diagnosing the problem and providing information on next steps.
He was awesome!! Definitely recommend. Wow....
Good people with honest business models do exist in this world. I'll keep this short as this can become a novel if I'm not careful.
John is a man of his word and honored everything he said to get me up and running. I messaged John on Wednesday, 17-Mar-2021, about the current bind I was in with my hot water heater.
I had been abandoned by another contractor (please check my last review posted on my page for those details and to know what company to avoid) who left my house filled with gas, hot water heater still not working, and was in real danger to contributing to a money pit to solve the problem. John got back to me almost immediate, I explained the situation and John promised to have someone out Thursday between 12-2 to solve my issue.
John's people showed great communication, expertise knowledge, and got me up in running with hot water again in about an hour. My first hot water shower in a week felt like I was being baptized in heavenly waters.
If you're looking for plumbing and heating services, John is you man. He will make sure to keep his word, explain everything to you, and do everything in his power to get you up and going again.
Thank you John, you saved me THOUSANDS in headache. We had an excellent experience with John Snyder Plumbing.
Booking an appointment is fast and easy and they even send you a confirmation text and email. Their plumber who came out, Xavier, was on time, very polite and friendly, knowledgable, and cleaned up after himself.
When he was finished working (we had our hot water heater and boiler serviced and a shut-off valve replaced on our outside water line) he went over everything he did in detail. I've never had such a thorough plumber! We'll be using John Snyder Plumbing from now on for all of our plumbing needs.
Return my phone call even after hours honest and courteous service.Would highly recommend this company for plumbing service I'd give 10 stars if I could. The guys just finished.
Respectful, knowledgeable and clean. With my sink out of commission during the holiday, John reached out within minutes of posting on Yelp.
An hour from that these guys showed up. Not over priced at all.
So happy to know there are true service providers that get the job done without killing you with an astronomical bill. Super pleased and will keep them in speed dial (showing my age lol) for this old house will probably need them again.
Only bad thing now I have to resume cooking. Lol thank you for everything! My husband and I found John Snyder to be EXTREMELY personable and candid regarding cost and explanation of what would or needed to be done.
All questions were answered and concerns addressed. The prices given UP FRONT for each job INCLUDED EVERYTHING (all material - even if purchasing prices rose, time/man-hours - even when extended because of unforeseen obstacles - like in our case).
All works areas were cleaned, trash/boxes were neatly put out and or carried away to be disposed of. All work was done in a timely fashion and it was a pleasant surprise to find out the work done was warranted for a period time - which was GREAT!!!!! We'll definitely reach out to him/his company again and will highly recommend.
* WORK PROFESSIONALLY DONE - 1) broken kitchen faucet replaced, 2) connection of waterline/attachment (fridge's water/ice maker) run through crawl space, 3) Removal of small utility sink and seized pump - replaced with large utility sink and new pump. : ) John came to help me fix a dehumidifier pipe --- he was super personable while professional.
Did a perfect job for me. Would definitely recommend and call him again when I need anything plumbing.
We chose John Snyder because of all the positive review. Unfortunately our experience was disappointing and annoying.
We asked him to replace an outside faucet. we were told 2 workers would be there with all teh equipment needed and the cost would be $300.00.
one worker showed up and didn't have all the equipment needed to do the job and didn't know how to do the entire job and left saying he would be back. He never came back and we then received an invoice for $700.00!!! We STRONGLY recommend that you NOT use this vendor.
I have an unresponsive landlord so there wasn't much I could do as far as repairs go but Xavier and Anthony were fantastic and understood and worked within my means to at least get me to function. So grateful for that! I don't like leaving negative reviews, but when someone leaves a leak in my house that wasn't there originally, I have to! I hired John to fix a bath spout and a slow drain in my sink.
He fixed my bath spout great, but could not fix my sink. It was great that he didn't charge me for the sink, but he did leave me with a leak! I contacted John when I realized the leak was continuing and he said to contact him in 24 hours if it continued, free of charge because there was no leak originally! I gave it a little longer, just to make sure it was in fact a leak.
He then NEVER returned my calls or texts regarding the issue. I left voicemail/text messages which he received in the past, and never picked up! Suffice it to say, we now have a new plumber who was reliable and fixed the leak no problem! Very professional services were rendered by John Snyder and team.
I was in need of someone to replace a hot water heater and he came through in just a day! I found him to be fair in pricing and helpful in explaining solutions to resolving plumbing problems. I can honestly recommend him if you're looking for a plumber with integrity.
John came out right away when my faucet started to leak in my bathroom. He was quick and despite the job not being very large he fixed it very quickly (this was the day before new years..) While it was a bit more expensive then I anticipated, I was told that it was regular philadelphia prices.
I had to have John come back a week later because another part of my bathroom plumbing broke (not related to the first) and he came quickly again and gave me a reasonable discount because he was just at my home. I would recommend him.
Responded very quickly Meghan was great and so helpful setting up the appt. Xavier Came on time and fixed everything.
He was very nice and reliable! Highly recommend! Great experience! John is super responsive, which if you'd tried hiring a plumber in Philly before, you know this is a big deal! He was able to come out right away, and scheduled our tricky job for the next day. They worked as quickly as possible given the demands of the job.
Now we can shower without water pouring into our basement :) Very fair on price, and he and his team took all the right COVID safety precautions. Very positive experience.
I contacted this business via Yelp regarding an issue with the pipes in the basement being either clogged or frozen. Everyone that I interacted with at this business was helpful.
Xavier and Anthony were very professional and they solved the issue right away. They were timely and the price was reasonable.
Highly recommended. Highly recommend! We had a leaky drain issue with a DIY sink installation and I was at the end of my rope trying to figure out how to fix it.
I left a voicemail on John's line and received a callback within 15mins. He was friendly and kind while asking questions to assess our situation, and luckily was able to dispatch his team within less than an hour due to a last-minute cancellation.
John's team (I think Anthony and Xavier?) were on-time, professional, and quick with their work. They wore face masks, which I appreciate during this latest wave of the pandemic.
After finishing their work, they reviewed the fixes with me and patiently answered my questions. Although this drain leak was such a minor issue, I don't have any regrets about the money I spent on for their expertise and speed.
I feel much more confident about our new sink setup now that they've repaired my DIY-gone-wrong and looked over the rest of my work. Do the smart thing-- skip the DIY and call these guys instead! John and Anthony were great! They were quick to respond.
Fully vaccinated staff! Installed a new gas shutoff valve and installed our new stove. Knowing we had a young daughter, put on the safety/non-tipping latch without asking.
No nonsense. Totally professional! Will use their services again.
Our tankless water heater was acting up and we needed a gas valve replaced. John called me right back, sent two of his best people, and three hours later our water heater was working great, valve replaced, and they even found an issue we didn't know about and fixed it on the spot.
Such great, informative service. And they cleaned up too! Thank you.
I was in a crunch for time and John was quick to respond, on a Sunday at that. He fit me in the next day and worked around my schedule.
After immediately determining what the issue was, he was able to be in and out in under an hours time. Luckily, he had the right parts in his truck and was able to completely replace the garbage disposal in that time.
I also want to mention that I'm new to repair work and issues like this so he was very thorough and walked me through the issue at hand. Would definitely use John's services again! John is your go-to guy for any plumbing needs.
I think everyone in my family has used him at this point whether in the burbs or the city. He'll do whatever he can to get there ASAP and gets the job done quickly and efficiently.
We've never had to call him back for a job he's done wrong. He'll explain what happened, fix it and how then how to prevent it for the future, I would strongly recommend him to any friends or family.
It doesn't hurt that he's also a great guy and will most likely become your friend after working with him once. He's honest with very fair pricing.
He helped my in-laws this past winter with their heat breaking and a problem in their basement with washer/dryer. Both their plumber and HVAC guy came out and couldn't seem to find the problem.
After getting John out there he knew what the problem was within minutes. They are so thankful to now have him for any other plumbing/heating needs.
We couldn't be more thrilled with our experience with John Snyder Plumbing. He answered the phone directly himself and was super easy to work with by text messaging and cell phone - always with lightning fast responses.
John and his assistant came on time and did our job quickly, quietly, and with an extremely professional approach. You can tell just by his snazzy pink van, that this is a guy who takes care of his business and his customers! We are super happy with the results, and the work area and our home was left spotless.
Even settling the invoice by venmo was a super easy piece of cake! Thank you so much... I'm almost looking forward to our next plumbing problem! I woke up one morning with a flooded basement and called several plumbing companies.
I had a plumber tell me it was my main line drain that was clogged. John not only responded to my yelp request at 7am but called me! Anthony and Zach from JSnyder were the techs and they were both so knowledgeable and respectful of my home.
They came right in looked at the water and found the source. I am a first time home buyer this year and this was the first large homeowner wow.
The guys arrived around 12:30 and were done by 2! According to my mother the pricing was fair and that was all I ask..Quality, Trusting and Fair. Great a device.
Friendly and reliable. Was able to see us within in a day of our request.
He made every effort to get out to us although he had a busy schedule. Reasonable price to pay for repair.
I received services for my kitchen sink from Xavier and Anthony, I must say I was impressed. They immediately knew what the issue was, which was a small issue.
They didn't try to "run game" and overprice me. They were quick, knowledgeable, and professional.
I definitely would recommend this company. John is amazing!! Our pipes backed up flooding our basement not allowing showers or the use of the bathrooms this happened after hours during the Covid19 situation.
We called multiple plumbers finally getting one and when they never showed up we called John he was out in 30 mins and fixed our issue, he came with all the PPE to make us comfortable, did his job quickly and proficiently I would highly recommended him to anyone. I found my water heater had died around 11pm and could not get it restarted.
By midnight I decided I needed to find a plumber to install a new water heater. I sent a request to John for a quote.
I explained my issue and what I did to try to resolve. I didn't expect a quick response, but at 6am Jim responded with his quote.
We messaged back and forth a few times. Basically because I had questions.
I was lucky John had an opening in the afternoon otherwise he was booked for the next 2 weeks. John called mid day to confirm when he would be here.
John arrived with his assistant. John was very professional and really knowledgeable.
He explained everything he was going to do. John installed the new heater.
Removed the old one and plumbed some additional lines he felt that was needed. I will definitely call John again.
Don't be fooled with the few reviews as John has recently started his own business. He seems like a good and honest guy.
Price was very fair for the work. Thank you John! Had a leaking shower faucet, and other plumbers we contacted didn't seem to prioritize our call.
John, however, responded quickly and scheduled us quickly. He was also on time to repair the issue for a reasonable price, and walked us through the issues.
Highly recommend. Thank you for a job well done and it was really a blessing that you was so prompt, because I was starting to get a lot of water on my basement.
Also the guys were wearing their mask and very nice after finishing they explained everything to me .Thank God I'm good now!!! I can sleep better. And John you are nice too.May God continue to bless your business Responsive and did quick work for a fair price.
Arrived in time, communicated arrival and diagnostics and were super fast in fixing the issue. John was very fast with responses and professional.
I had a leak that needed further investigating and reached out for quotes on Yelp. John was the first to respond and the only one to offer a free in home estimate.
He told me he's usually booked out a week or two in advance, but had some cancelations and was able to get me in. He arrived and opened up the ceiling and knew right away what the problem was.
The seal on the toilet wasn't set properly so he replaced it and even caulked the base of the toilet because it wasn't done before. He also cleaned up after his own work.
I don't have experience to know if prices are fair or not, but it was $150 all said and done. Would recommend! Has great reviews and cool dude met him once.
But be aware that you will take a chance at being completely ignored without receiving the courtesy to even be told he isn't interested in the job. Hit him up twice for a job that we already spoke about.
I needed it done and was ready to have it done immediately bc I preferred him and he seems to knows his stuff and looks like he does great work but he just read my messages and gave no response... twice.
It's a slap in the face and its super unprofessional. Did nothing to the guy but ask him when he was available and how much.
What's the point in having a business and being the best if you're not going to respond to customers? I'm completely remodeling my middle floor and basement starting october 1st as well and he wouldve gotten a sizeable job with that too but now I have to find someone else. John Snyder Plumbing has been my go-to for a couple years now.
He once helped me in the dead of winter when the heat went out on short notice. He's also fixed a couple leaks and performed appliance replacements.
Always comes when he says he will arrive. Never crushed me with a bill.
My kind of plumbing service. John Snyder texted me over the last weekend and apologized for missing our appointments and not contacting me due to some unforeseen emergency.
He offered to send a crew if I was still interested, which I accepted. Zack and Anthony called 30 minutes before arriving, as I had requested; they were friendly and down to earth and did not shy from many obstacles the old dishwasher set up had thrown on their laps.
They had to go and get parts and came back to fix all the plumbing issues. Everything worked great and I was very satisfied with the work.
John compensated me for the inconvenience by giving a discount on the fees. It was very reasonable and now I am ready to give them more plumbing jobs when needed.
John and his crew are the very best!! John literally saved my house. I did not know my pipes had corroded under ground.
John was the only plumber who took out the toilet and looked underground with his camera ..and found the problem. I had to get extensive work done.
John was very understanding of my situation and gave me a very fair price. He is an excellent compassionate human being and treats others the way we should all treat each other.
I could not have asked for a more knowledgeable professional. Zach and Anthony are pros as well.
Courteous and prompt. John Snyder is my plumber for life! Call him!! See for yourself! Love this guy!! I woke up to a leaking hot water heater on Friday 3/1/2019 at 7am.
I called John and he answered quickly. Although he was busy, he told me he would get to me in the afternoon and would let me know when he firmed up the time.
He was at my house by 1:30pm and gone by 3:30pm and I had a new hot water heater. John and his team member were both professional and took the time to answer my questions.
I appreciated how easy it was to work with John and I'm obviously appreciative that they could fit me during an emergency situation. I will be calling John for any future plumbing needs.
I am WAY behind on leaving this review, but they did an amazing job. We were replacing a faucet and our water shut offs were leaking.
Replaced both (and a third they found) as well as our home shutoff valve for a reasonable price. Great communication.
Very kind. And very adherent to safety in the pandemic! Will use again! I called John Snyder Plumbing and they gave me a fair estimate on a potential full stack replacement (2nd floor bathroom to basement) but it was more then I could pay at the time.
I reached out for more estimates and inadvertently reached out to John again. John called me on a Sunday to discuss the quote and heard my dilemma.
He was kind and adjusted my quote but was realistic about the price. I agreed and moved forward.
Zach and Anthony came out the next day. Two very nice gentleman who answered all questions asked and most of all cleaned up the mess before they left.
I called John because I had a conference call and might have to ignore his call to pay the bill. He said to me, he would send the bill and to pay it over the next few days.
This means a lot to someone who gets paid weekly, especially during this time. I look forward to paying the bill for such great service.
I want them to know their kindness and good work was appreciated. I would recommend this company to friends and family.
(I know this sounds too good to be true but it is and I am grateful.) Never showed up.... was scheduled for a time slot and no one came.
Called but couldn't leave a voicemail because it was full. Texted but got no response.
Followed up for a few days but never heard back from anyone. We rearranged our schedules for the appointment and was stuck with a broken shower for a week until we got an appointment with another company.
Talk about a waste of time... John was excellent, very responsive and professional.
Came in and completed toilet plumbing issues promptly. I'll recommend John to anyone.
Great guy as well. John Snyder responded quickly (over the weekend!) via email, and I scheduled for their first available appointment.
Zach and Anthony called ahead of my appointment to verify their arrival time. They gave me a solid estimate in advance of doing any work, and I was very comfortable having them work in my home! They did efficient, professional work and followed all recommended COVID protocols.
It is clear that customer service and satisfaction are their top priorities! Zach and Anthony gave me their experienced opinion about future work I'd like to have done (installing a water filtration system), and John followed up with a phone call. I highly recommend John Snyder Heating and Plumbing! 2/11/19 Update The agreed upon rate was $125 an hour for repair of the pipe.
There was never any mention of the charge being per person as there was never any mention of an accompanying assistant. Bottome line, there was either a charge for the work performed for "free" or there wasn't and if there was I should have been notified upfront so as to make an informed decision about whether I wanted to proceed and for which tasks, but for JS to act in the manner of pro bono and then inflate the cost of an agreed upon job after the fact IS dishonest.
Yelpers take note. Revised Rating.
One star. Awesome work.
Shady pricing. Original Revie Things that make you go HMM 1.
How niceness (is this even a word), can be deceiving? I didn't realize right away that I had actually contacted JS in December for a nagging issue with my water heater only to be told he was too busy to help at that time. Now, having a situation in late January, where I had no heat, no hot water and a clogged sink with a jammed garbage disposal, I was at my brink and sent a mass message to most of Yelp.
41 degree house? Fine, dress like an Eskimo, heat one room like a sauna. No hot water? Does the stove work? Do I have a pot? Yes, to both? Then what's the problem?? But couple those two issues with, "single kitchen sink clogged" and suddenly it's hell on earth.
This time, John responded within minutes, after hours, while enroute to an emergency call on a Friday (nice, right?). He was booked thru the weekend, but agreed to check his schedule and get back with me by Monday.
He called on Tuesday, able to stop by in 2 hours. Luckily, I was able to be home.
By the time John arrived, me, a handy friend thousands of miles away and Youtube, resolved the clog, but in all my understanding and my friend's expert explaining, I couldn't fix the garbage disposal. John took 10 seconds to connect a loose hose and 20 seconds to explain how it all works, for no apparent charge (nice, right?).
John took a look at the water heater, which may or may not need to be replaced and by chance at the furnance also. In thouroughly explaining the system to me (nice, right?), we found a leak in one of the pipes.
John agreed to return in 2 days to fix both issues. Price: Water heater replaced at $1200 and $100/per hour for the cracked pipe.
I passed on the work for the water heater, having already received a more competitive quote. Without the work for the water heater, the charge for the pipe work would be $125/hour.
Sure. 2.
How does 1x1 equals 3? Having had the same work done previously (& recently), which I observed from start to finish, and having consulted people that I know and trust before John arrived, I knew the job should be straightforward, relatively simple (it was both) and take no longer than an hour (though John somehow guesstimated 3-4 hours). For whatever reason, (you be the judge) in all his experience and having seen the exterior pipe he would be working on, when John arrived, he claimed to not have any of the necessary replacement supplies (i.e.
the standard 3/4 90 (basic elbow) and a 3/4 union pipe). Not sure that I buy that a 17-year plumber that drives a van and presumably has repaired countless pipes, didn't know what would be needed beforehand AND didn't already have the supplies.
If not, what a waste of the van's space and so said experience. While you're at it, you may as well tell me that the earth is flat too.
At any rate, he left for nearly an hour, obviously at my expense. All told the actual work lasted hardly an hour at best, but with included 1 hour trip to supply store, 2 hours.
Lucky me, I have a security camera, so I can be accurate with times. Arrived-8:55.
Left- 9:22. Returned- by 10:05.
All work completed-10:51. $125x1= $125 right? Not with JS-BS math, as my total was $350.
I didnt contest it initially, expecting the invoice to explain further. I don't cheat, I'm not conniving and I have morals, so if I owe you, I'll certainly pay.
Instead, the invoice I received (which I checked in email after he left-major no,no I now know) shows one line item for a single, inexplicable, overpriced total. I've reached out requesting clarification twice, by email on the day of service and by text the following day.
Two full days have now passed with no response. Guess he's really busy.
3. Why it's IMPOSSIBLE to find credible (read, honest) contractors in Philly? Enough said.
Rating: Decent work, Bamboozle Pricing -20 stars for the riduclous pricing. 22 stars for the solid work and patient service.
TOTAL: 2 stars BS math back at ya. John is excellent! After years of looking (and being fleeced) for an honest, trustworthy, hardworking, and fair plumber, we finally found one! John is able to succinctly articulate what is wrong, clearly explain it to us and quickly fix the problem - all at a reasonable price.
We wasted hundreds of dollars after our kitchen sink flooded only to have it break 10 minutes after the other plumber left. Fortunately, we found John Snyder Plumbing and not only did he durably fix our current problem, he fixed a chronic one that we were told by another plumber couldn't be fixed! We are so grateful to have found him.
Moreover, he seems like a really good person - that's important too. Quick response and repairs from John and his crew.
Fixed my plumbing issues fast and at a great price! Started expierencing a more significant leak from a previously dripping bolt under the toilet tank at midnight last night. Started reaching out for plumber referrals then, including a search on Yelp.
John responded immediately (and the fastest of all the others that responded) and said he could be out this am. We confirmed the appt this am, he arrived on time, he made all the necessary repairs, and advised me on some other plumbing questions I had for several other future projects that are plumbing-related.
John is personable, knowledgable and experienced. THANK YOU, JOHN! Trust me-Go with John Snyder Plumbing & Heating! I called a couple different plumbers and John and Zach were the only ones who were able to come out the very next morning and match their price while getting the job done! I've always tend to think plumbers rip you off but John rest assured me he'd put my mind at ease when it comes to plumbers...that he did! The job was complete Saturday morning at a reasonable price.
Although we did have another problem (leaking dishwasher) unrelated to the first I did call him back and he was able to make time to come out again pretty fast. John inspected the dishwasher and made a quick fix to stop the leaking within minutea.
We do need a new dishwasher and need to replace the floors but he reFerred us to a contractor (Royal contractors) that actually came out the same day later that afternoon. So...I've found my new plumber! Super fast response time, thorough in explaining what the problem was and what he was doing, went out of his way to offer additional info I was unaware of, (using the contractor) and fixed the problem!! Has he changed my mind about plumbers?! Definitely...trust me you won't be disappointed with John Snyder Plumbing & Heating! We called John Synder Plumbing based on his yelp reviews.
Of coarse there's always a few sour eggs in the reviews, but we over look those who just don't get it. John responded very quickly and had his team out to the house the very next day.
Our case was not an emergency so there was no need for immediate response. We had some blockage issues and John himself was able to assess and had an estimate right away.
They arrived at the scheduled time and quickly got our problems resolved. He had to dig up the main line outside the home and install a clean out.
Big job! They explained everything they were going to do and it went very smooth. The yard doesn't even look like it was touched.
I already have recommended him to some neighbors who were inquiring about his work. They were clean, efficient and extremely courteous.
I am a very satisfied customer! Good honest working guys is a rarity these days, so I was happy to have found them and to recommend them too. Good professional hard working guys! Thank you to John Snyder Plumbing and Heating and his team.
Good Job! John is awesome! He is personable, honest, trustworthy, and a master at his craft. He did some work for us recently and we will definitely use his company in the future for our plumbing needs.
Finally, we have found our plumber! John was fantastic- would highly recommend and will definitely use again for any of my plumbing needs. We had to have our sewer line replaced, having a reliable professional made the situation much easier.
He was on time everyday, provided daily progress reports, and charges more than fair rates for his work.'''.
