Contacted two companies via Yelp and JB got back to me first asking for simple details: a photo of the water heater, its estimated height and when we wanted them to come. I asked for them to come ASAP.
They said they could come 1pm that day. They came before 1pm.
They were done in a few hours and took out the old water heater, all for around $2200. The whole experience was so quick and painless; it was shocking.
I called about toilet repair, needed a new flang installed. I was offered the next day but asked for later in the week to fit my schedule.
They agreed right away. My plumbers were there on time and really nice guys.
The price was good after having done my research. I have their information on my refrigerator because they will be my go to company! Mark came to our rescue when we found out we had a gas leak and our gas had to be shut off.
The situation ended up being more complicated than expected but Mark went above and beyond to help us find and fix the issue. I left Mark a message at 6am and he returned my call at 6:15am! He even came back out at 7am the next day when we were still having issues and got it resolved in less than 30 mins.
Mark is reliable, honest, and caring. My father called him Superman because he really saved the day for us.

I just so happen to be only the 3rd elite yelper to review this place which is odd for a place with over four hundred reviews. Called JB in a pinch because there was a leak coming from my ceiling in which I thought it was coming from a 3rd floor bathroom.
They mentioned over the phone it's be $255 to come out cut drywall and diagnose where the leak would be coming from. I will say they were prompt and receptive and could get out the quickest which is why I had them out.
After some examination it turned out that leak was not due to the third floor bathroom but there was maybe a leak coming from the third floor waste overflow. It was minimal and not really noticeable while running the water but had them do the work.
The work was only 60-90 minutes in total. It involved cutting (and not replacing drywall) replacing a trap and adapter and overflow for the tub.
All and all should have costed a few hundred dollars but was a whopping $1275! I told a few friends in the trade industry and they mentioned that waa wayyy too much money for a routine job that was less than two hours. The drywall cutting was the sloppiest parts with no replacement.
I would consider revamping the score if you had some patch up the dry wall for the price paid or if the overall cost was more reasonable for the amount of work done. I've had dozens general contractors, plumbers, roofers, electricians, and chimney people out in the past couple of months and by far this was the least satisfying experience.

Mark and his team have been excellent for me in more than one property. They came to the rescue in my rental to help mitigate a sewer line break, and they did such a wonderful job that I hired them to preemptively replace the sewer line in my new home.
Despite any challenges that they find along the way (unexpected/unmarked trolley tracks and mains/lines under the road), they push through and do such high-quality work. They are thorough, punctual, friendly, communicative, detail-oriented, and have been so re-assuring to me as a first-time home-owner.

The details: I was having water in my basement, and so I requested a quote. On the day that I was available, he said he would arrive between 7:30-8am, and my doorbell rang at 7:29am.
He was friendly and quickly diagnosed the issue, and within 3 hours I had my estimate. All of his email interactions were prompt, even as he knew I was getting other estimates.
As I confirmed my desire to move forward with him, I let him know of international travel I had in 7 business days...and was there any chance the work could get done before then? My sewer line needed to be replaced, which required excavating my sidewalk, which required appropriate permissions from the city. Within 24 hours my sidewalk was getting mark out by the city, and the job was done on days 5 & 6 of the 7 business days I had before leaving.

Mark showed up at my son's house in Fishtown two hours after I called at 7:30 am. There was a lot of water pouring into the basement from a pvc pipe that was no longer connected to anything.
A mystery, but Mark had the experience to figure out the situation and correct it easily. Another plumber probably would have ripped out the cabinets and floor in the kitchen above the leak in the crawl space.
He also was able to point out stupid things other plumbers had done: like using PEX pipes on the hot water heater, or not having a trap under the kitchen sink. Mark sent two guys the next day, who arrived at the time he said and fixed those problems and also the leaking hose fitting outside.
I attached his magnetic card to the water heater and now I know I can count on his company when the next disaster hits. Such a fantastic experience with this company! I've been a property owner in Philadelphia for 20+ years and always struggled with finding a reliable, honest, and dependable plumber. No more struggles since I first contacted Mark at JB Plumbing! I first needed to locate a problem leak earlier this year and had a fast response from Mark, he sent out Brian and we were able to get the problem fixed where there had been some bad work done previously by another contractor.
Just this week I had a different leak problem which could have been very serious; Mark had Brian out first thing the next morning and the problem was repaired in about an hour's time, much to mine (and my tenant's) relief. I really appreciate their easy communication and promptness when emergency situations occur.
The crew members also show up not just on time but often *early*, which is a true rarity when dealing with contractors! I can also say they are very good at following covid-19 recommendations, wearing masks consistently during our current situation, so have no worries about calling on them during these times. Mark & team installed a new water heater, and replaced 2 leaky shutoff valves in our condo.

JB Plumbing was recommended to me by a friend and I am now recommending them to everyone here. They did some work at my house (installed hose bibbs, installed new shower faucets/valves) that I was not comfortable doing myself.
Both Mark and his employees were extremely knowledgeable, approachable, and efficient. The cost of the repair came in right around what I was anticipating as well.
I was very glad a company with such a good reputation was still in my price range. I must add - given the current situation of Covid-19, I was a little wary of having workers come into my house, but they took very good safety measures, kept their distance, and wore masks the entire time.

My old plumber passed into the great unknown, i.e., retirement to Florida, so when the hot water heater decided to die yesterday, I called around to a few Philly area plumbers with trepidation. JB Plumbing called me back promptly, and after sending Mark a few pics and measurements, he quoted me a fair price and promised to have his guys come the next morning.

If I couldn't reach them by calling I would just text them and they were still very responsive. They communicate well with what they think is the problem and their plan to fix it and they're also transparent with what the cost entails.
The prices are reasonable and he accepts check and venmo which was very convenient since I was not in the area. Would definitely go with them again and would recommend them to anyone in the area!
