It wouldn't turn off due to a broken valve. I worried the part would have to be cut off and soldered back on bc the plumbing is so old, and to my non-pro eye it looked like the wall would have to be ripped out.
I got laid off in November so of course things have been breaking, and my mind instantly flooded with worries about this potentially expensive new repair. Today I looked at NextDoor and found Duane Moore.
I called him at 9 am and by 1230 he had worked me into his schedule and fixed my problem. I simply texted him a few pics and explained what was going on, he asked if I would be home and before I knew it, he had shown up.
His fees were very reasonable, he was extremely professional, and my dog loved him (and we all know dogs are the best judges of character!) I really appreciated this service as I've been taken to the cleaners by plumbers in the past , and it's great to find someone who knows his stuff and isn't trying to artificially inflate his prices. The relief I felt knowing that this repair wasn't going to cost thousands and was finally FIXED takes a heavy weight off my shoulders.

The company is Moore Plumbing and Drains located in San Marcos If you want a plumber who over charges that your afraid to call, Duane is not your guy. But, if you want someone who will fix your plumbing issue and who will be reasonably priced, a real person and who gets the issue resolved, then give Duane a call.
Another very satisfied customer for Duane! We had recently had a new refrigerator delivered, but the water line to it was leaking and needed to be replaced. Duane initially had hoped we might be able to get away with inexpensively replacing the connection at the end of the line, but when that didn't work he quickly transitioned to replacing the entire water line, which wasn't the easiest piece of work, needing to run it through a couple of cabinets, behind our stove, and then into a pretty busy collection of pipes under our sink.
One of the original couplings for that ended up leaking a bit, which he caught with his testing, allowing him to replace it with a non-leaking coupling before he left and before we would have noticed the leaking. He did all of this between struggling himself to get his service truck/van up and running after he'd recently run into brake problems (that he was also able to fix himself!).
We found him friendly, personable, and very hard and efficient worker. His integrity and skill were both apparent in all of our interactions.
Pricing did not feel like rock bottom, but did feel reasonable, and much less than what the big conglomerates charge with _much_ better personable service. Definitely one of our best plumbing experiences to date! We are planning on him as our 1st choice "go to" guy for future plumbing needs.
Duane Moore is the best! Very knowledgeable, responsive, comes on time, reasonable rates. I called Duane on a Monday afternoon and described to him that my water pressure regulator was broken and PSI far too high for the plumbing in my home.
Over a few quick text messages, he confirmed he had the correct part on hand for my replacement and was working on scheduling me ASAP. Duane showed up on Tuesday evening and installed the new pressure regulator within a few minutes.
His price for the part and labor was more than fair and I am extremely grateful for his fast service. Value, responsiveness, and care.

Thanks Duane! I'm so impressed!! After my initial call to him, Duane called back quickly. He arrived on time (or before) and told me I didn't need what I'd called him there for (a preventative measure suggested by my insurance company.
He didn't even want to charge me, even though he'd been to the store to get the part I'd requested and taken his time to look at the project. Duane is honest, personable and is a man of integrity that knows his business.

I left a very detailed and polite voicemail about two issues we were experiencing. A few hours later, he texted simply asking for my address.
I replied with the address, assuming he was then going to tell me about his availability. More than 24 hours passed, so I reached out again and asked when he might be available to come out.
He replied a few hours later asking me to tell him about the issues again. No problem.
I responded right away with the details of the two issues. Another 24+ hours pass.
I reached out again and politely asked if he could please let me know if he would be able to come out to take a look at some point. Zero response after that (it's been a week).
Very unprofessional. I am a patient and polite person; I had a neighbor referral; and I was even in the market to possibly replace a whole shower drain pipe, but he completely ghosted me without even the courtesy of saying, "sorry, I am too busy" or "sorry, but I'm not interested/able to help you." Just radio silence.
Our water main was leaking from a previous leak. Duanne sent Art over and he was ale to perform a repair that is superior to the previous repair by a different company.
Art took the time to explain what he did and I learned what I can do to maintain the repair. I am very satisfied and highly recommend Moore Plumbing.

He ghosted us on the day of the appointment and blocked out numbers. We had to do some plumbing work in out laundry area, and I made an appointment with a local plumbing company I usually work with.
Plumbing services now have a long lead time, and my appointment was 2 weeks out. While waiting for the appointment, I reached out to Duane to get a competitive cost estimate.
His quite was better, and after setting up the appointment with him we went ahead and cancelled our original work with another plumbers. We setup out appointment with Duane 2 weeks ahead and confirmed again a few days prior to our visit.
The morning of the appointment we confirmed with him again that he would be at our place by 9am. I reached out to Duane again at 10:30am and closer to noon to see if everything is alright and he is still able to make it - no response to any of my messages.
Tried to give him a call - goes straight to voicemail. I though my phone was having issues, so I asked my wife to give Duane a call.
She called and her call went though, but he never answered, so she had to leave a voicemail. She received a short text message from him shortly after stating: "Not going to do the job.
Thank you for your time" We were taken back and still not sure how to react. We cancelled our plumbing services in favor of his work, and had to take time off work to make accommodations for his visit.
On top of everything, my wife is expecting, and we were really in need of the repairs to take place. We understand that things happen and can be rescheduled; we also understand that it is his right not to provide services per his own discretion.
However, we didn't expect such lack of professionalism and lack of regard for other people's time. Duane could have called or messaged us and be open and honest about not able to take this job.
Instead he decided to block my number and ghost us. I don't know how he is as a plumber, but this lack of integrity kind of makes his skills irrelevant.

My reverse osmosis's system was not producing water. The company said they repair RO systems.
The technician came out opened one of the filter casings and did not tighten it properly when he replaced it causing a slow leak that I did not discover until that evening. This ruined my cabinet floor.
The owner refused to take responsibility for this mistake and said it was my issue because the system was malfunctioning when they arrived. He was also aggressive and dismissive on the phone which is highly unprofessional.
Bottom line technician was unable to diagnose the issue and was sloppy in his work. Woke up Christmas Eve morning to a broken pipe outside our home spewing out water from a recent rainstorm.
Called Moore plumbing and Duane picked up the phone almost immediately- on Christmas Eve no less. He FaceTimed us so he could walk us through shutting down the water main and to see the damage.

Shout out to Duane of Moore Plumbing! I needed a faucet retrofit for my 80 year old tub. Duane ran into all sorts of problems, as I expected with my old house, and he went above and beyond to complete the job.
He even had to remove a mummified rat's nest from inside a wall! Once the faucet was in he made sure the drain was adequately handling the new increased water flow. Enzymes down the drain and Bob's your uncle! Everything like new and I love my new faucet! No more tupperware under the faucet to catch leaks! And, he was very reasonable with his fee.

I turned off the water to the house and started my search for a reputable plumber. A friend told me about Duane's excellent reviews on NextDoorNeighbor, so I called him this morning and he answered the phone himself, listened to the problem and said he had the right cartridge and he would be out within a few hours to do the repair! He showed up in 2 hours and fixed the problem with great expertise! It was not an easy fix and required serious strength to get the parts removed.

So of course Friday the toilet floods again and being a long weekend I waited to contact him until Tuesday and he said he would get back to me but didnt. I waited until about 2:30 Wed and texted asking if he knew when he would be able to come out and he FaceTimed me.
I realize he was probably trying to put a face to the messages and figure out whose job he was talking about but he got very aggressive with me, talked over me presenting HIS situation, what he can and can't do, that we will need to figure out a next step (we had already discussed all of this at his prior visit) and when I repeatedly tried to respond with what had previously been discussed he continued to cut me off loudly telling me he works 6am-9pm 6 days a week and has four kids at home and doesn't remember every conversation, etc and that he's "doing me a solid" by offering to come back out. I multiple times tried to respond reminding him of the plan we discussed and he simply wouldn't let me talk.
I didn't interrupt, I was respectful, I didn't respond to his aggressive, forceful verbal attack and he just simply wasn't even interested in even HEARING what we had planned. I finally told him I didn't need his help and would figure something else out.
Even then he very forcefully kept saying that he will come, it's not a big deal he's TRYING to help me, etc... I was shaking when I was finally able to get off the phone with him.
A week later and my heart still raced thinking about it and talking with others to make sure I'm not crazy to feel so attacked. While I absolutely recognize that people have hard days, I will NEVER accept that being verbally assaulted this was is excusable or shall be dismissed.
If he reflected and realized his behavior was erratic and called me back to talk through it and apologize I would have maybe even felt a tad bit better. I just can't possibly recommend this plumber to anyone with a clear conscience.

I'm glad I turned to Nextdoor for plumbing recommendations, and glad so many had already mentioned Moore plumbing. Around 8pm last night, we discovered a pinhole leak in the copper pipe leading out of our water heater which was spraying a fine mist onto nearby cabinets.
Duane Moore took my call in the evening, suggested a temporary fix and came out at 7am the next morning to replace the elbow joint that was creating the problem even though he already had an 8am appointment booked nearby. Great guy, great work.

He came through to do a general inspection for me - I am a 1st time homebuyer and he educated me on what needs to be done vs not. I had hair in one of my shower drains and thought I needed it to be snaked.
But he urged me to try do it yourself solutions first before he would have to charge me - what a guy!
