He responded with an estimate that was significantly lower than another I had received, and we got it scheduled. Martin showed up at 7:30 AM, right on time, put his shoe covers on and got right to work.

Martine and the other young lad whose name escapes me (sorry bud) managed to quietly, quickly, and efficiently replace a bathroom faucet, a kitchen faucet, a shower head as well as rod out a drain or two while never interrupting our household. Martine and his compadre worked in perfect unison.

Moody weren't the first to return my call, but the reason I'm giving 5 stars is they were the only ones really interested in helping me with my problem. They asked me about the issue and offered different advice over the phone to help stop it.

This is how you build a long term clients. We are definitely going to use them for any of our future plumbing needs! I spent an entire Sunday attempting to unclog my tub, but I ended up clogging the tub even further, to the point of affecting drainage of our bathroom sink.
In any case, we gave up and called our go-to plumbers, Moody Plumbing. As usual, Joe was incredibly responsive, calling the next morning to follow-up and to schedule an appointment.

I think the best way to contact them is through email or the contact page of their website. I called multiple plumbers and explained to them that my garbage disposal wasn't working and that i had a clog.
They asked me some questions about my disposal and over the phone was the only one to state that it doesn't sound like it's broken. He told me that if he comes out and can fix it without replacing it that it would be $145 and if they had to replace it, the price would be about $450.
I spoke to 5 plumbers and no one gave me that kind of answer. So i appreciate their business and there ethics and will use them again if needed but will always recommend them.

This time the kitchen line was horrendously clogged - so bad that the 1st round of rodding didn't do the job. The next day more 50+ year old sludge came loose and re-clogged the line.
Joe came right back out once I let him know the problem was lingering and went to work without hassle. They had to make a mess of a small area of (unfinished) basement to get the line fully cleared from top to bottom, but they cleaned up as well as they could have and the kitchen line is now draining like a champ.

I got a letter from the City Water Management department saying they had identified continuous running of my meter and there was potentially a leak. I spoke with one plumber, and he panicked thinking there would need to be digging up my yard looking for a leak coming off the main, etc.
He didn't want to take on the job and so he -thankfully- recommended Moody. Yes, one plumber turning down a job and recommending Moody.
I had several phone conversations with Tom at Moody and he was calm and measured and really not worried. He came out, and sure enough there was no leak.
The city probably just monitored my usage at a time when I was legitimately running water for 2 hours (laundry for example). I had told Tom in advance that there were a few other minor plumbing issues, so while there he took care of some slow drains and toilets, recommended replacement parts for a toilet that was running intermittently, etc.
Some of these things he did as part of "the service call". Very kind.
Some of the larger tasks he let me know in advance would require additional fees. I did not feel at all "nickeled and dimed".
Tom was totally professional, on time, polite to both me and my wife, and I would use Moody again or recommend them without hesitation. Tim I called to have an intermittent drip from my first floor tub into my basement.
Martin showed up on time and spent a half hour trying to recreate the drip. Of course no such luck.

We had Moody Plumbing come to our house to replace all our old galvanized pipe in our basement. They switched everything over to new copper pipe and did a fantastic job.
Even switched all our laundry faucets and washing shut offs, everything is neat and organized and they were quick & clean w/ the installation. They were quick to get back to me and have an emergency #.
I plan to call them again if I have plumbing needs. (downside is they dont have a website, but give them a call to get an estimate anyway!) Quick response, came out in 24hrs, simple fix and even gave us a yelp discount! Joe is simply great. He's very down to earth, won't beat around the bush, and is totally reasonable on pricing.
He's at least second generation at the job, and he knows his trade well. We were very concerned about moving a cast iron vent pipe.
Joe looked at it and calmed all our worries. He easily replaced it with a PVC pipe rerouted between the stud walls, giving us an uninterrupted surface for the cabinets to be mounted on.
Moody also totally replaced all the old plumbing for sink and drain area. We had a little issue that cropped up with it, but he instantly offered a very reasonable solution and took care of it personally that night.

Came back from vacation with a sink backup in a multi-unit building, got service first thing in the morning. Tech explained everything he was doing and why, and was up front with pricing.

I hate to do this, and I really wanted to give them a good review because of all the good I've heard, but here's the lowdown: First, hired them out for a simple leaky toilet about 2 years ago. They did the job but the toilet was reinstalled improperly (not leveled).
Now the lid slams down when in the up position. Seems minor and I thought so as well which is why I called them back for my ejector pump replacement.
However, try peeing in the middle of the night and having that lid slam shut on you, wakes up the house and scares the crap out of you! Not to mention the fun of peeing all over your seat. Yeah, minor detail.
Anyway, back to the ejector pump, they installed it, it works great, however, they told me "I could seal up the lid with some caulking myself if it started to smell if I wanted?" What? Why isn't that part of the job, and of course it's going to smell, it's an ejector pump! But they were the plumbers, I expected more. Finally, I paid them quite a hefty amount to come out and fix my water pressure.
One of them (I believe the son) came out for an estimate. In waiting for the estimate, I finally heard back a couple weeks later over email that he lost my number, no biggie.
Anyway, I hired them and they ran new copper across my basement to solve the problem. The copper looks great, they did a good job there.
However, I still have no water pressure. I was told after that they'd need to come back and replace the shower valve to finally solve it, at another 500 bucks (after about 4g already).
On top of it, they tore up the walls to get the pipes in (I knew this going into it). However, the way they left it was very amateurish.
The walls were not cleanly cut, they were torn apart making it an even bigger patching job. (It looked like they used hammers and tore the dry-wall up instead of cutting it with a drywall knife or saw).
Also, the basement was left a complete mess (no cleanup). Well, never heard back about the valve, then finally the guy emailed me weeks later saying he lost my number, again.
Well, now I've lost their info now as well. Basically, they do great plumbing work only.
They will leave your place in shambles and possibly not finish the job and they're super unorganized. Overall I had a great experience and would highly recommend them.

We had Moody Plumbing come out to our house to fix our first floor toilet as well as the toilet on the second floor. They came out a couple days after we called to schedule the appointment.

That's right, I'm not. I called Moody when I started hearing strange noises coming from (I thought) the pipe in the bathroom wall.

Cleaned up and checked EVERYTHING out to be sure problem solved!! Will use Moody for all my plumbing needs so glad I called them!! These guys are the best! We are in the process of updating a two flat and have worked with other plumbers, but Joe and his team were far and away the most professional, responsive, communicative, and their work was flawless. He came and did a detailed inspection of our project and wrote up a line by line estimate that came out to the exact final cost.
They hit their timeline perfectly and were minimally invasive into the walls as they replaced pipes and drains all the way to the third floor from the basement. He also gave us some great ideas for upcoming projects.
We work with contractors on a regular basis, and this is the best experience we have ever had with professionals. Highly recommended.

Affordable! Feel confident we were not taken advantage of as first time homeowners. Follow up: After son, Joe, read the review, he sent a very apologetic note explaining he and the company's situation as it relates to distance, man power, short notice (apparently, they were sooo busy because of the storm and had many clients to service already), etc and even offered to do the work for free instead of the $350 originally quoted.

My wife and I purchased an older home with beautiful bones and with one owner, but as would be expected in this situation, many of the utilities were dated and needed upgrading. In addition we hoped to do some renovating of the kitchen, including restoring the gas line for the stove, moving a very large radiator, and changing the location of the plumbing for the sink.
Our inspector also told us that the water pressure seemed quite low and that likely we needed to replace the main cold water line. After receiving several bids that seemed outrageously expensive and becoming worried that we would bust our budget on the plumbing alone (we hoped to upgrade the electrical, buy kitchen appliances, and install cabinets), we thought we were in over our heads.
Joe Moody came to the rescue. We called him at 8 in the morning and he was there early in the afternoon to provide an estimate.
He carefully studied the situation and was very sensitive to our budget, providing several options for repairs that were most necessary. As he looked over the existing piping he voiced his disapproval of some of the previous workmanship and stated that he would clean up some of the mess beyond what we were asking for, with no additional charge-to me this was the sign of someone who truly takes pride in his work.
Joe's estimate came in under the three other bids we received, with a promise to start the next day and to finish within two days, half the time that other plumbers had estimated. Good to his word, Joe arrived at 7:30 the next day with his partner Tom and it actually seemed that they would be done with the whole job by early afternoon.
They slowed their pace somewhat (mainly because we had electrical work occurring simultaneously) and finished early the next afternoon as promised. Besides being quick, the work was impeccable.
Joe and Tom were neat in the way they laid out the pipe, were clean and focused, and were just plain nice and friendly guys who really seemed to take pride in their work. If I or anyone I know ever needs any type of plumbing work in the future, I will be contacting Moody Plumbing again.
Thanks Joe and Tom! You guys are awesome! Alas, I will never get to experience the five star service of Moody Plumbing. They called me back today to tell me that they don't come this far to work.
I live in Hyde Park and they are located on the Northside of the city. Meanwhile, I have plumbers coming from Schaumburg and Northbrook just to give me an estimate! I suppose it's their prerogative to decide how far they will travel for a $10,000 job.
At least they called me back after two days. I was really happy with the quick turn around and friendly service I received from Moody Plumbing.
I'd happily hire them again in the future! I found Moody Plumbing on Yelp and chose them based on their written description of the company. I called and they immediately returned my call and scheduled to come out the next day.
I was so appreciateive that they called first thing in the morning and gave me an estimated time, and he was 30 minutes early! When does that happen??!!? Tom was very friendly and super helpful. I think that pricing was competive, but very reasonable compared to other companies I have called for the same job.
Tom even took the extra time to take a look at our second bathroom and give me ideas for a remodel. Very exciting.
We will definitley be calling these guys first for any of our upcoming jobs! I like the small business feel and curteousness that you don't always get from the "other guys"! Had a leak on our kitchen faucet. Surveyed the repair, and decided I didn't have the tools to do it.
Bought a faucet from Home Depot, and had one of their contractors call us. They wanted $90 bucks just to walk in the door.
After checking with a couple of local handymen that didn't call me back for a while, I decided to check yelp, and Moody plumbing came up high rated. Could not have been anymore pleased.

Joe did a great job with a recent repair job, starting with an email asking for a photo of the broken pipe so he could better understand the job. I sent the photo and he responded promptly with a quote and some suggestions on when he could do the job.
He came by and took care of the job as expected, and he even fixed a little issue in our kitchen sink for no additional charge! We'll definitely be calling Moody again with any future plumbing needs. Was given Moody Plumbing's name by the Faucet Shoppe.
Joe called and asked about the problem and I sent him a picture. He sent Martin out to fix the problem--the water trickled out of the shower and needed a new cartridge.
Martin did a great job. He needed to get a part and came back the next day as promised.
Very happy with his work and I highly recommend the company! I had an emergency at home over the weekend where my water heater blew and was flooding my basement. I contacted Moody Plumbing that Saturday, left a message, and Joe Moody called me back no more than 10 minutes later.
I explained my problem to him and he said he could come by in about 30 minutes to take a look and see what he can do. Joe came by the house within the timeframe he said.
We walked through the basement and he explained a few options to me. I received a few estimates prior to my emergency and feel that he gave me a fair estimate for the options we discussed.
Besides replacing the water heater, I also asked him to switch all the galvanized water pipes in the house to copper. Joe, Tom and Jim came by the house the next morning and got right to it.
They were all very friendly, courteous and thorough. Tom even offered to pick us up some food around lunchtime.
They completed the entire job very quickly, and cleaned up after themselves, which I appreciated very much. In the end, they walked me through and explained everything they did and asked if I had any questions.
