Review and analyze now for company Mr Rooter Plumbing of Columbus and provide the analysis in the discussed format for the following reviews: '''Will Huffman and his supervisor, Joe, did a very thorough inspection including a smoke test to determine the cause of sewer gas smell in the house. They discovered the drain to our washer and dryer had not been installed properly.
They went to work and remedied the problem. They were clean, prompt, and professional.
They explained everything in advance and while they were working on it. We were very satisfied.
I needed a water valve replacement so that I could have a washing machine installed. Much to my surprise Paul Tomayko came out to my home on Saturday, November 10, to do the work.
In addition he installed an emergency shut off valve for the washtub faucet, ball valves, supply lines and a new faucet. Paul was very professional and explained everything to me and the cost before proceeding.
Looks like everything is in order for my installation. I would not hesitate to use this company again for my plumbing needs.
Thank you Kathleen W Cleveland OH Price decent and quality work. And getting appointment is easy.
They even tested that everything was working We requested quotes from 4 contractors because we had a leak from our main drain pipe in the basement. Mr Rooter responded quickly, and provided useful information about the options.
Travis and his technician arrived on time, and the work turned out as expected. They were clean, professional, respectful and efficient.
If you need quality work done at a reasonable cost, I highly recommend Mr Rooter. Excellent job Mr.
Rooter. I always call them when I need a plumber work.
They immediately come and get the job done. I highly recommend.
Thanks again MR. Rooter.
Needed same day service, "not a problem they said", will I be charged extra, "no"they said, $594 to replace a wax ring on a toilet? You be the judge.... We have used them on several occasion.
I have always found them to be respectful of my property and very pleased that they never try to oversell. I found found their prices to be extremely competitive.
I will use them again. I called to have a water feed replaced for a refrigerator.
Tom was there in 1/2 hour. Got everything done in 2 hours.
Left the place clean. Gave good direction and advice.
There is no good cheap plumbing. Only good plumbing.
You get what you pay for and better off for not scrimping in the case of plumbing. I have used them in the past and will hire them again.
HORRIBLY experience. I was in the process of remolding my bathroom the under floor was wet , there was leak .
I call mr .rooter , they come out and there was Leak . They call Right restoration company, to try help dry it out .
7 days later nothing was dry . They came by took there equipment said claim was denied .
we had already paid them 1,000 for claim to file with our home owners insurance company . Asbestos was found , this right restoration company did NOTHING.
We call and said they could not refund us our money .What kind company will not even communicate on what do next or even give us a quote to fix without the insurance . NEVER will I use both company I blame MR .
Rooter for recommending a company that is useless . Emergency repairs.
Sink drain was rotted out behind the wall. Technician and estimator went over what they saw.
They didn't try to oversell any the work. My review: DO NOT USE!! I had a pipe freeze and called because my typical plumber could not come out.
The pipe had not burst and rather than risk it I decided to pay a "professional" to come thaw it out for me. Neither toilet or shower would work.
By the time they left I had a hole in my basement wall which they charged me $1800 for and left all the stone laying in my basement. They essentially created a window in my basement and made no attempt to block it when they left.
The man said he couldn't figure out how the plumbing in my house was run and that he couldn't fix the shower or toilet. I tried to explain how it was connected (bathroom is right above kitchen and the plumbing lines connect.
I know because of work with previous plumber) and he told me no I was wrong. He charged me $2000 for the call and told me to go stay with someone because he couldn't fix the problem.
Two days later had a different company come out and they fixed the problem in less than an hour and charged me 350. When I explained what had happened with Mr.Rooter I was told that they work on commission and that I was taken advantage of by the employee.
We have tried to reach out to the company for a refund but have not had success. DO NOT USE!! Our garbage disposal needed to be replaced, along with the old trap.
The Service Tech went out of his way to shop for the trap replacement part only to learn, that it is no longer made. He proceeded to replumb a section of pipe in order to use a new style of trap to complete the job.
I really respect the Tech's skill, and his desire to do the work correctly. Thank you Mr.
Rooter. You have this customer for life.
Never show up, when I called to set up the appointment I was told that they would come out between 9-11am and they never kept there word. I'm from the old school generation, I will never have any work done from a company that can't even keep there word because chances are, there work is lousy also We experienced a major plumbing problem in early March where our toilets backed up and were rendered useless.
We had Mr. Rooter come out to assess the problem and hired them to resolve them issue.
To make a long story short our cast iron sewer pipes had bottomed out and had to be replaced with PVC from inside the home to the street. This required a complete breakout from our stack on one side of the basement to the other, then under the footer to the main sewer line at the street.
They gentlemen who performed breakout and clean up in the basement did an exemplary job. In fact, he came back on his day off to help us re-lay the carpet that had to be pulled back to perform the work.
The issue we have now is what has developed from the condition the dig crew left our front yard. I was told by the Project Manager they would leave the front yard at a level grade that we could cultivate and re-seed ourselves.
We were in agreement with this and would take care of everything from that point forward. However, that's not what occurred.
The dig crew had re-seeded and laid down hay when they had completed their work. They told me I could start watering as you would when planting any new grass and the ground would start to resettle as from the dig as new grass grew.
So, we started watering and after a few weeks no notable new grass had grown. We removed the hay to have a look only to discover the ground was an uneven mound of rock-hard clay with back hoe tread marks the entire length of the dig.
Nothing but weeds could grow here so we tried to till the area however, the tiller bounced of the clay. Also, an 18-inch sink hole from settlement of the dig starting at the foundation of our home out 25 feet into the yard with 4-inch cracks on each side.
This is getting worse each time it rains. We paid a premium dollar for Mr.
Rooter to perform this work. Other than re-seeding the lawn, we had no expectation of any additional cost we would incur to right any of their work on the backend.
However, as it turned out, they did not leave our front yard at level grade that we could cultivate and re-seed ourselves. As a result, we are left with the inconvenience and cost of hiring a landscaping crew to cultivate and fill in the area so we can re-plant new seed.
JAMIE HENCE showed up on time and was extremely friendly. He assisted with getting our kitchen sink unclogged.
Side note... Do not put sauerkraut down the garbage disposal, as it will end up blocking our line.
I have used this company in the past and it is always an experience that puts my mind at ease. They really seem to know what they are doing.
I always call Mr. Rooter when I have a plumbing project.
They are prompt and provide expert service. MR ROOTER 405 N.
BRICE RD BLACKLICK OH 43004 PH 800-843-9590 This review is for the location listed above that was imprinted on our paid invoice. These guys OBVIOUSLY work on commission.
Initially, we called them for a toilet that was running non-stop and a shower head and massage hose that needed replacement. First, we were quoted something in the $900 range which included getting a new toilet with installation and replacement of the shower head and massage.
Then, they claim to have found additional work which took it up to a total of $4207. We agreed reluctantly.
Then, they said they will do a "free" inspection of water/sewer lines with their camera. Suddenly, we needed another $8000 worth of work done with them claiming we had roots in our pipes and a few holes too.
These guys used high pressure, scare tactics trying to convince us that the work was absolutely necessary to avoid future problems. We repeatedly declined the additional $8000.
The work that was done was completed in a satisfactory manner however, we presented a $30 coupon but the invoice shows that they ONLY took off 85 cents. That's right, a whopping 85 CENTS.
Also, a total of 4 representatives of this company were at our house. "Conrad" stated that he would throw in the toilet for free if we went with the $4207 estimate.
However, on the invoice, we were clearly charged for the toilet. This place does quality work BUT they are way OVER PRICED and they try to convince people by using pressure/scare tactics.
We recommend shopping around. We have used them many times over the years but, next time we have a plumbing issue, we will call another company.
Good work.... outrageously expensive.
They did great work! Replaced the drain pipes below the foundation of a building built in 1900. Took about 8 business days, which for the scope of the job was pretty fast.
Communicated well. i'd give zero stars if i could.
Do not call them! They tried to sell me a $5,500.00 whole house water conditioning system when all i wanted was for my kitchen plumbing to be looked at. Sales guy had no literature, no brochures, nothing to show me.
Just showed me what i already know that the water here is bad. i usually check here and wish to God that i had; i would have been spared the agony of them wasting my time and money.
On top of this, i would have saved myself from being bullied and treated unprofessionally. As i stated at the beginning: Do NOT call them; they prey on people's sense of urgency.
This is fair warning to everyone. Call someone else, not sure who though.
Forgot to say on the original review that i think that their TV ads are nothing but Fake with a woman actress posing as the owner to gain everyone's trust. Do NOT fall for this; stay away from this company.
i try not to post negative reviews; waited awhile to calm down to write this. In the end, i thought it was best to warn others.
We have used Mr Rooter for almost 10 years. I write this review with much conflict because I think the technicians that work at Mr Rooter are amazing and I have no complaint with them.
My complaint is with the salesmen and the owner, who refused to hear me out when I asked to speak with her. Four years ago my husband and I bought our house only to find out that the main sewer line was failing.
We paid $16,000 to Mr Rooter. They came, dug up our yard (which took almost 2 years to get put back together and properly graded) and "replaced the entire main sewer line".
They wooed us with their "lifetime warranty". That job took our entire life savings but it had to be done.
In our minds, our plumbing woes were over. Fast forward to now - we come home to find 3 inches of black sewage in our finished basement.
Once again, we call Mr Rooter. They discover that the pipe protruding out of our house has bottomed out....we were shocked...how was their old pipe still remaining when they had already come out 4 years ago and replaced it? Because they had left several feet of old pipe....that's how.
We asked for it to be covered under the "lifetime warranty". They said no.
We ended up paying another $11,000 to Mr Rooter - money we do not have in this difficult pandemic. We used their financing which is at 24.99% interest.
We will never give Mr Rooter our business again. As plumbing experts it was their duty to show integrity and do the job right the first time.
We are not plumbing experts, we relied on their expertise. If they knew they were digging up a customers entire yard and that clay and cast iron pipes have a limited life - why would they not replace all of it? And as plumbing experts shouldn't they have known that disturbing the ground would cause the remaining clay pipe to fail? I think they did know that 4 years ago.
I think they banked on this outcome. That is how you become a $30 million company.
My advice - don't get romanced by the useless "lifetime warranty". Don't panic and don't use your lifetime savings on these crooks.
The reponse was very quick; we called about an issue with the kitchen sink and they came out and had it fixed within 2 hours; the only downside is the high cost, but it was taken care of in a very timely matter! Tip: when you call, make sure to say it's an emergency even if it isn't. After waiting 5 hours for my first appointment I called and was told that they "had a lot of emergency calls (and) that's why we haven't gotten to your appointment yet." They rescheduled me for a morning appointment another day and they were still 3 hours late.
The work performed was proper and all went well when they finally arrived. The office staff is very professional, but obviously need to re-evaluate their appointment policies.
JAMIE HENCE showed up on time and was extremely friendly.Prompt and excellent service. Have used Mr Rooter several times and are very please with their service.
Prompt and excellent service. The plumper (Joe Priest) was the best I've ever dealt with.
Charges were very reasonable. I would highly recommend this company.
Second time we have used Mr Rooter. Very pleased with entire experience and quality of work.
Dustin Dawson and Mark Berger were professional, pleasant, respectful and did a great job installing a gas line into our kitchen for a new gas stove. We will request Dustin when we have another project.
tom and sue scribner new albany For years we had bounced from one plumbing company to another, thinking small shops would give the best service. Then we tried Mr.
Rooter - and never went back. The scheduling is easy and flexible.
The staff are professional, personable, and very efficient. And when the job turned out to be not minor but major they did not book a return visit.
Instead without hesitation they sent another Mr. to help get things done without any wasted time.
A fast and quality job done in lightning speed and at a fair price. Yes, we are customers for life.
My plumbing project consisted of the installation of a new bathroom faucet and a new exterior spigot. Workmanship was adequate however, the plumber reversed the hot and cold supply lines on the faucet so I had to invite him back to correct the error.
He also left behind a significant amount of debris for me to clean up afterwards. Additionally, Mr.
Rooter's pricing structure greatly exceeds what most people can afford. I will NOT recommend Mr.
Rooter to others. G.
Mayberry So I had a tenant whose sink backed up over the holidays - we couldn't get our regular folks so out of desperation they called Mister Rooter - (if a plumber is not busy on a holiday - that should have been a clue). So I paid $155 for a diagnostic call - they blamed the garbage disposal but also they claimed the kitchen plumbing was done wrong and it would be a major job.
Fast forward to Integrity Plumbing (who was not available during the time we needed them) coming out only to find out the plumbing is just fine - no issues whatsoever. If you are in the business of plumbing and you don't know good vs.
bad - maybe you should fine another line of work where you can gain some expertise and actually know what you're doing. Needless to say, I'll be putting the word out through the association to stay away from Mr.
Rooter of Columbus even in an emergency situation. The office representatives and technicians who do the work are great.
It's the rip-off artist who shows up at your house half an hour later to show your his "recording" of your terrible drains and tries to scare you into digging up your yard that's the problem. Three years ago, we needed an emergency drain clear on a Sunday.
The tech shows up, clears the drain . .
. and then Jimmy showed up.
What a shyster. I don't even believe the video he showed us was a recording of our drain.
I think he just played us a video from his bank of recordings (always make sure they show you the camera WHILE they're going through your drain). Tries to hard sell my husband into thousands of dollars of "necessary" repair work.
When I declined, he said, "That's fine, my toilet will be working tomorrow." Later in the week I called Eco-Plumber and they confirmed that although there was a small displacement of the pipe (he showed us the camera as it moved through the pipe, and none of the issues Jimmy showed us were there). He told us that if we had the drain cleared every other year or so, it could last another decade.
Fast forward to last week--yikes, another drain plugged (after three years. Really, it's our fault for not addressing it immediately, until it was solidly plugged).
Eco-Plumber couldn't send anyone out that day. So I called Mr.
Rooter. Guess who showed up with his hard sell again? JIMMY.
Walks into our house without a mask, starts his flim-flam game, mentions how great Trump is (guess he missed the Biden sign prominently displayed in our yard), and gives us the same spiel. The technician was already done, but he warned us about the imminent failure of our whole drainage system.
Okay, buddy. Whatever.
NEVER AGAIN. I'm furious.
This company took advantage of an old man during a pandemic. My mom still works & my dad is home.
He's hard of hearing & not a handy person at all. He was home when they arrived to unclog a sink.
I hadn't been inside their home for a year and 3 months because of covid. Now we're all vaccinated.
It has been over a year since this service. My uncle is currently remodeling their kitchen.
Buckle up. Today the new sink was installed.
It was draining slow. My mom says they paid Mr Rooter to fix it, though it's never worked right since that service call.
My uncle is filling the sink with water & letting it drain. It's so slow.
He checks the basement & water is running down the wall. No leaks under the sink.
We check outside & water is running out of the foundation onto the drive way. My parent only drain a little at a time bc they were aware of this water going everywhere issue.
The issue Mr Rooter was supposed to fix. This company charged them $2K for crap work.
I wish I'd taken a photo. Apparently they kept finding new things wrong.
It started at $1K & my dad would call my mom at work with another problem & new total. They even tried to convince them they needed a sump pump bc it was against Ohio law to not have one.
That quote was $5k. My mom finally said, no & caught on that maybe they're being scammed.
She had no idea how badly they'd been scammed. My uncle is trying to figure out how water is running down the wall & outside the house.
He surmised that when it goes down the drain, through a bend, up into a pipe that connects to the main drain that it's backing up & the going backwards past the down spot it came from & up a different pipe which goes up the wall. He's pushing on it and it all shakes a lot.
It's very wobbly. He goes to the store for supplies.
Comes back & it gets even worse. He removed the long pipe to the main drain & water goes everywhere.
He realizes the pipe that's clogged is past the ones they "fixed" & uses a $15 hand snake to unclog it. He then starts taking part the pipe he thinks is where the water is going up.
HE EASILY PULLS IT DOWN BECAUSE IT IS NOT CONNECTED TO ANYTHING. These idiots didn't unclog the clog & didn't have this pipe up in the wall attached to anything so when the water backed up, it went up this pipe and all over the *insert bad word* place.
Complete incompetence or taking advantage of a clueless, old man? You decide. I'd never use them.
By my estimation, they owe my parents $2K. My uncle fixed it for less than $50.
I reached out to have my vent stack cleaned/cleared. They came out and quoted a price to do so, and proceeded to not address the vent stack, waste time in their van doing nothing and suggest progressively more elaborate services that were non-related to my request.
The issue I called them for was not addressed at all and I had to pay for the guy to sit in his van for an hour talking to his 'supervisor'. Terrible and unprofessional experience that wasted my time and money.
I called with a plumbing problem and was informed that when the technician was done with the job he was on I'd be next. And hour and twenty minutes later I received a call and was told the technician wasn't coming today.
I was then told they could "possibly" get to me between 12:00 and 3:00 the next day. When I said since I got bumped why am I not priority for the first couple of runs the next morning? Then the timeline changed again to possibly 1:00 to 3:00.
POSSIBLY!!! I refuse to book with a company that puts you off and then "gambles" on showing up! Be alert for the upselling! I had a simple toilet swap. I bought the new one but just needed it installed.
They were probably not happy I already had the toilet because they couldn't sell me one. Anyhow he quoted me something like $300.
He removed the toilet and then claimed there was a problem with the flange. He looked at the basement plumbing and said the whole main stack needed changed out and he then quoted me $3000 for the work and said permits were necessary for everything.
I politely declined. 1 hour later and a trip to the hardware store and I had it installed with a $10 wax ring.
The flange was just fine and very strong/secure. I did it all myself, no leaks and went very smoothly.
So much for being lazy. Glad I didn't take the bait.
That said, I will give him credit for not charging me for coming out and he even took the old toilet with him. He was also very polite and once I said no he didn't push.
Still...will avoid them in the future and also try to be less lazy myself when I know I can do the job! All I wanted was the free estimate that they offer. The guy shows up with NO equipment - not even a ladder.
He tells me he is the supervisor. Then he radios for another guy who has the ladder and equipment but is also apparently busy.
The first guy sits in my driveway for at least half an hour. Eventually TWO more trucks show up.
One with the ladder and diagnostic equipment - which are essential for the free estimate. And another truck with a giant water tank on the back.
After two Mr Rooter employees crudely banter (complete with curse words) in my front yard within earshot of my children, they eventually get on the roof and start troubleshooting my problem. None of what they did at this point sounded like they knew what they were doing.
It took them far too long to even figure out where the house sewer lines went. They didn't care when I told them one end of the house plumbing drained fine but the other doesn't.
All they cared about was telling me that their snake camera hit "something" and for a $1000 they would use that tank truck in my driveway to flush it out. Then when I said that that was not going to happen, the first guy shoves a tablet in my face about financing for 3.5 times that already crazy estimate.
It was at this point that I asked them to leave. For a "free estimate", this wound up feeling like such a high-pressure con job.
They arrive with the equipment to flush the line before they have any idea what the problem is? And I am not even sure they had a clue as to what the true problem even was; I never saw video from the camera in the drain. Plus they were unimaginably unprofessional.
Why would I believe them at all regarding anything? And $1000 dollars to flush out a clog of indeterminate size!? It could have been four inches of toilet paper. The day after I sent them packing I get an unsolicited phone call from some manager at Mr Rooter who apparently reviewed their insane write-up and estimate.
He wanted to apologize for the obviously inflated quote that they tried to pull over on me because he started offering discounts and coupons. But the damage is done.
I have absolutely no reason to trust anything in the slightest that comes from any representative of this company at this point. would have liked to put four stars up, but they were 4 hours late and I had to call in to make sure they were still showing up.
the field guy threw the famous "thousand dollar" pitch!!! lol except I know my shit bc im in a similar line of work installing these drains, this is my 19th year doing it, not to mention I am a repeat customer bc our house was built in the 1940s, so these things ARE going to happen. Service techs were awesome people, respectful, good attitude, and well spoken.
and that matters a lot to me when someone is working on my house, top notch!!! the payment due was exactly the amount they said it was going to be, no surprises!!! Good experience every time I use these guys, I do recommend them bc they did what they said they were going to do in a timely manner as I emailed them in the middle of the night and at 8am they already had the ball rolling and a guy on the way to look at the situation. happy customer here!!! thanks guys, much appreciated.
0 stars is not an option, they charged me nearly 10k for unnecessary repairs and then when sewage backed up all over my house again less than 30days later charged me another 1300 to fix the problem that was always the issue! I will be seeking legal action My kitchen sink is draining very slowly and backs up when the disposal is used. Called Mr Rooter and the scheduler set up an appointment at a convenient time for me.
Two men came, one a "Foreman" and the other obviously a novice . They went down the basement and checked the pipe coming from the kitchen sink.
I will add that neither of them wore booties consequently, there were puddles of muddy water on my hardwood floor throughout the kitchen, hallway and basement steps. I called it to their attention.
The "Foreman" said "oh that is probably from our muddy shoes." I had cleaned and polished the floors two days prior. After checking the pipe in the basement , they asked me to come down and they would explain their proposed solution to the problem.
They said the pipe could be snaked but since there is a turn in it, they couldn't use a camera to see how far the snake would go and it would not be the ideal solution. The cost would be $381.00.
The ideal solution would involve cutting the pipe, removing part of the floor cement and go farther with the snake. That would be at a cost of $4000 which is with a $500 senior discount.
I felt that this was rather exorbitant and asked if they would explain this process to my relative who is very well versed on home repairs. He came and after the Foreman explained the options , my relative suggested that they try snaking the pipe at the cost of $381.
The technician snaked the pipe after removing the cap to the pipe in order to insert the snake. When he tried to replace the cap, he said the threads were stripped.
The cap could not be put back securely causing the pipe to leak. He tried to no avail and gave up.
Through this process, there was lots of slush and water around the area. He gave up, did not clean up the water and the slush and left without finishing the job.
My relative went to Menard's, purchased a brass ring cap for $12.99, and secured it to the pipe. Job done! I begrudgingly paid the $381 plus tax.
The young man left without a thanks and the mess for me to clean up. I feel I am entitled to some compensation for this very unsatisfactory job.
It is obvious that you are more interested in a big dollar job rather than trying to rectify the problem for a more economical way for the customer. We had them out on a Saturday night for emergency service.
Plumber was there for hours - ran the snake 4 times. Said it was fixed.
Left at 1:00 am. Spent well over $300 - and that's WITH the supposed club discount and a coupon! Sunday morning, took a shower and water in basement again! Called back.
Same guy came out. Couldn't figure it out.
Said they were sending a specialist out. Hour or so later he showed up.
Walked around with a water detector. Said his big equipment was on another job.
Looked at things. Never put anything in the drain.
Then tells us we have a break in the line in our yard and it will be $7,000-10,000 to fix! We better get on the schedule now because they are so busy it will be at least Wed. before they can even start.
I asked about everything the guy did on Saturday. He said "To be honest, that guy doesn't know what he's doing.
He's just a plumber" REALLY?? We said thanks we'll think about it. Called another plumber on Monday - they came out and $29 later it was fixed! NEVER USING AGAIN! Our toilet was flooding and the shutoff was broken.
Rooster arrived within an hour of my call during a busy time to fix my issues. The plumber provided great information and was extremely courteous.
I would never hire Mr. Rooter.
I called to get an estimate to replace my hot water heater that was under warranty (less than a year old). The guy that came out told me it would be at least $1000.
I asked why the labor was so much since the tank was under full warranty (10 year warranty). He said it was an "inconvenience fee" due to the fact that the old tank needed removed and exchanged for a replacement tank.
The price and "inconvenience fee" didn't sound right at all. I called a different plumbing company and got it replaced with no problems.
They charged $200 for the removal and install of the new tank. The tank itself was free due to the warranty so I was only charged labor ...NO inconvenience fees (although that company found my previous quote from Mr.
Rooter very laughable). I got a very reputable, prompt plumber for 1/5 the price of Mr.
Rooter! We had a bad sink clog over the holiday weekend. We made appt for 1 to 3 the next day.
At 3:15 and was told technician would be there soon, but did not know when. It is very inconsiderate, and poor customer service, to expect a 2 hour waiting period and you cant even honor it.
I'm very unhappy. This is going to be a bit long, but the situation warrants it.
On Saturday, April 28th, I went into our basement and discovered the sewer backing up through our floor drain. I have never had to call a plumber before and clearly didn't have time to research so I called the plumber closest to our home: Mr.
Rooter. They said someone would be there within the hour and, mostly on time, someone showed up after an hour and a few minutes.
Aaron H. was odd and bit off-putting but, whatever; there was poop in my basement.
Aaron got his camera out and fairly quickly discovered that the previous owners (we've been there less than a year) had been flushing SOMETHING they shouldn't have. My theory is Depends, but that's a story for a different day.
He says that he can't push the clog through and we'll have to schedule a different tech to come out with a different machine to blast it with high pressure water for $1000. Obviously, this wasn't good news but so far, so good on the company's part.
Aaron gets a new cap for our pipe out of his truck and discovers that the new one doesn't fit because the rim of the old had sort of rusted to the pipe and was stuck in there. He asked my husband for a hammer and chisel ...what? That alarmed me slightly but I decided to remove myself from the situation because I'm not always the kindest under stress.
I don't know if my husband ended up giving him the tools or if he got something from his truck, but Aaron removed the stuck piece and let my husband know we were good to go. My husband went downstairs to check things out and ...
there was a hole in our pipe. It wasn't leaking before, so it wasn't there before, and it was right near the opening that Aaron had just been hacking away at, yet Aaron hemmed and hawed and didn't want to take responsibility.
First, he said that there was no way we could know that hole wasn't there before (ummm ... we had been down there all afternoon, staring at this pipe), then he said that when pipes get rusty, they get holes (right, but you slamming away it probably didn't help).
Aaron eventually offered up his boss's cell number but was very nonchalant about the whole thing. Aaron left and my husband immediately called Mark, Aaron's boss and the owner of this branch.
Mark was a little wishy washy and uncaring too, but we tried to give him the benefit of the doubt; it was Saturday evening, he was home with his kids, and this wasn't a call he wanted to get. Mark said he would come to our house on Monday, April 30th, which he did.
Long story short on that end, Mark agreed to send someone out to fix the pipe and do their best to push the clog along without the water hose, mostly because they were going to have to cut into our drywall to get the machine into the basement. We set up our appointment for Wednesday, May 2nd, between 4p and 6p.
At 5.30p, on May 2nd, we got a call that they were a bit behind but would be onsite within the hour. A little after 6.30p, I got a call that they were still behind but this time, they would DEFINITELY be onsite within the hour.
Around 7.45p, I called to find out what was actually going on and they said the same thing: we'll be there within the hour. At this point, I couldn't wait until 9p for a plumber to show up (if they planned on showing up at all), so I rescheduled for Thursday, May 3rd.
The first thing the tech, Nick, said on May 3rd was, "I've tried to get a hold of Mark a bunch of times, but he never answered or got back to me". GREAT.
I don't know much about plumbing, but Mark had promised our pipe would be replaced with a Y pipe; Nick had not been told this and Nick would not do this. He went to the store and got whatever part he needed (shouldn't that have been in his truck?) and got to work.
He was able to push the clog through fairly easily, which I really appreciate, but also think is TOTAL bull, considering the THOUSAND DOLLAR LINE Aaron tried to feed us. He was also able to quickly replace our holey pipe with a new pipe, that was still not what we were promised by Mark.
All in all, this was an already unfortunate circumstance, which we didn't bring on ourselves, that was just exacerbated by Mr. Rooter.
As much as I would like to give them big hurrahs for fixing our pipe, they broke it. And as grateful as I'd like to be that they could push the clog through without ripping a hole in our wall and charging us a thousand dollars, that was apparently a totally legit, normal, easy action that should have been done five days prior.
0/10, would not hire again. Huh.
Thought sure I had reviewed them before? This is my 4th time using this company, so you can tell it isn't as bad as some of the reviews seem to indicate. They do their job.
They seem to do it well. Clean up after themselves and sometimes do more than initially requested.
On time. Chad (today's representative) is personable and courteous.
Did what was needed in about 45 minutes. And for a plumbing company, I feel fairly priced.
Being a first time customer Mr. ROOTER PLUMBING Service Tech Aaron H [after] identifying the problem.
The [fill-value] unit required replacement---toilet tank. My Uncle and I are [both] pleased Service Tech Mr.
Aaron H explanation explained in laymen's terms--- After accessing the problem and its resolve. MISSION ACCOMPLISHED The biggest joke of a company ever...
they rob people everyday. They will say your sewer is broken not show you and then sell it for a ridiculous amount of money.
The salesman are con artist praying on people with the lack of knowledge. I would never recommend this company to anyone.
Mr. Rooter serviceman did a great job, no mess, polite and professional.
Highly recommended I own a rental property in the Columbus Ohio area, and the tenants called as water was starting to back up in the basement, apparently from the drain line in the basement floor. I called several companies to get quotes on running a camera in the drainline and one of them was Mr.
Rooter. The main red flag with this company is their absolute refusal to give a quote or estimate on basic services such as putting a camera in the drain line.
When scheduling the appointment, all the woman would say was "we can't give you a price until the tech shows up, he will give you the price, and if you don't like it you can send him on his way". Well I did "send him on his way" as he quoted a price of over $400 when every other company was in the $200 range.
I still am perplexed as to why they cannot give a quote when EVERY other company I called did. My guess is that they hope the consumer will pay whatever they decide to charge because drain, sewer, and water issues can be ugly! I hired The Drainworks, and they only charged $190 to run a camera in the drain from the house to the city sewer.
As it turned out there was a clog in the drain under the basement floor and the total price for running the camera and snaking the drain was $255. Since Mr.
Rooter was going to charge over $400 to run the camera, I can only guess at what they would have charged to snake the drain, but I'm sure it would've been at least $100, so I probably saved at least $200-$300 by NOT hiring them. This update is extremely overdue, but as far as home stuff, I tend to not focus on it with my yelping.
But I think it's really important that I inform others what happened when I did find someone to address that root problem I mention in my original review. I had another private plumber come out, and when addressing this issue with my toilet, he noticed that the soil stack, or as I like to call it, the poop chute, had a gigantic crack in it that ran almost its entire length.
The plumbing was exposed and visible to the eye because the kitchen was being remodeled. The same was true when Mr.
Rooter was there too. So, since this soil stack was cracked, it had to be replaced completely.
What this meant, is that all that work Mr. Rooter did fixing the plumbing in my kitchen, that I paid like $400 for, had to be ripped back out to replace the soil stack.
So I ultimately had to pay to have my kitchen plumbing done three times. Being a licensed, big time plumbing company, Mr.
Rooter should not have failed to inspect the soil stack. And when I made efforts to get some sort of refund since the work they did on my kitchen was wasted, I was essentially blown off.
The moral of the story is that they do good plumbing work, but what good is that if they don't do the proper amount of investigation leading up to that work? I'll tell you, it's worth nothing. Toilet tank broke and I called many others.
Mr Rooter was there in less than 2 hours - fixed everything. Highly reccommend!!! I live in a house built in 1959, and it requires a lot of babying, including routine snaking of various drains.
I've been a regular customer of Roto-Rooter for some time, but after seeing Mr. Rooter on "Undercover Boss," I thought I'd give them a shot.
I didn't regret it. Mr.
Rooter earned big points from me when I saw the technician not only put booties over his shoes, but on the wheels of the snake-cart thing as well. Roto-Rooter has left dirty wheel tracks through my living room several times.
Mr. Rooter also got the job done faster and for significantly less money than Roto-Rooter, and didn't try to upsell me on anything.
The only negative is that the "we're on our way to your house" call came from a dispatching service, not the technician, so they could only tell me that he would be there "within an hour." Wait, there's one more: Though you can schedule appointments online, they require a phone call (from them to you) to finish them, unlike Roto-Rooter, where everything can be done online. Minor qualms.
Mr. Rooter has my business.
I was really interested and excited about having them come out to handle my plumbing issues. Unfortunately they never made it out.
They scheduled me for a Saturday evening and the technicians we still busy on previous jobs so they rescheduled for Sunday evening. Once again the technicians we still working on previous jobs so they rescheduled us for Monday evening.......and guess what......you guessed it ........technicians still busy.
I'm very disappointed with Mr. Rooter and won't be recommending them to anyone anytime soon.
We are a young couple and are first time home buyers, not to mention have a newborn baby making things a bit more chaotic. We a newbies to home repair.
We noticed water dripping in our basement and immediately called Mr. Rooter as their commercials and owner seem so genuine, unfortunately we had a very bad experience.
They were very timely and showed up quickly which was nice, however, the plumber told us we needed to replace the entire kitchen sink faucet, he said there was a small hole in the hose attaching to the faucet. He said he could do it for $265.
Or buy a new faucet from them and hose kit and they would install it all for $485. We have a Moen faucet and looked up a replacement hose kit from the hardware store - it is $40.
We declined the install. Two days later after finding none of the hose kits in stock at the store, we called them back to potentially just install the hose, the woman was INCREDIBLY rude to us.
When we asked if they already had the hose kit in stock, she,In an annoyed tone, replied "I don't have any answers for you, I'm not a plumber" she also said " didn't you just cancel the other day anyways". We were genuinely trying to get help but also not drain the bank in doing so.
The woman on the phone was not helpful and just plain mean, making the ordeal all the worse. Don't recommend.
DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY !!!!!! I waited at home for TWO DAYS and calls kept telling me workers were delayed. I FINALLY got a call at 6 p.m.
telling me they were NOT coming at all on the 2nd day of waiting !!!!! THEY WASTED 2 DAYS OF MY TIME !!!!!!! DO NOT waste YOUR time !!!!!!!! John was very prompt in his service fixed both issues that we needed fixed at a very reasonable rate. He was very knowledgeable in what he did and completed the work quickly.
Definitely nothing but a positive experience & would recommend. I was quoted a time between 8 a.m.
and 10 a.m. someone finally came after 3 p.m.
I had to call them several times to check on the service call no one ever called me first. Once the service man was here he was great and finished quickly.
Had a backup and needed a camera inspection. A plumber came out and told me he couldn't get the camera through because there was no space.
He still charged me the $250 and provided no help no images. Called another company and they were able to do a camera inspection just fine.
Was never told that I would be charged even if they couldn't do the job. Repaired valve and pipe to fix loud noise after toilet flushes; cleaned back of tank to remove residue and offered followup cleaning tips.
Operator called in advance to confirm appointment, technician showed up on time. Was courteous, helpful, and efficient.
Price was reasonable, even without the added Angies List coupon. Would use again.
I had a line back up with basement flooding on a Sunday afternoon. I was afraid that late on a weekend I would never get anybody, and would have to wait until Monday and face thousands of dollars of water damage.
To my relief, the Mr. Rooter team came promptly, fixed the problem, gave me a clear explanation of what happened (with pictures) and my house was back to normal operations by that evening.
I am totally satisfied with their service. Thanks Mr.
Rooter! If I could give zero stars, I would. Called on a Sunday at 9:13 am, was scheduled for someone to come out between 4 and 6 that evening.
Waited at home. Get call at 5:25 pm saying they weren't going to show up.
We could not wait and had to scramble to find someone else. Would never recommend.
Unfortunately, I've to take my previous review down. As stated in my previous review, they showed up late for the appointment and I thought it was a one time thing.
This is my third time rescheduling the appointment, for the same issue. We had initially scheduled for them to come on 24th December, they called and said they were behind schedule and would have to reschedule.
Appointment was then scheduled for Monday, December 26. Our toilet was clogged since we accidentally flushed the plastic toilet paper roll holder that has the spring.
The technician used something and basically pushed it through the flush. I was worried because they never took the part out, and he said it should be fine.
Well it wasn't! The next day the toilet started clogging again so I called them and they gave me an appointment for Wednesday, between 5-7pm. Well of course they called and said they were running late and couldn't make it, then they rescheduled it for today, Thursday, again between 5-7pm and no one is here yet and it's 7.30pm! I'm sure they'll call and schedule something for tomorrow and probably not show up, and if they do, they'll definitely be late.
Oh and our toilet is still clogged. Previous review: We had scheduled a free estimate appointment between 5-7pm.
They didn't show up at our house till 9:15pm, but they did inform me twice that they had been backed up. I was a little worried since it was so late in the day, but when our technician showed up, he was quite positive and friendly.
He explained the issue in detail and went over our options and ended up fixing our issue! I would definitely call them again if I ever have any issues. This company caused more problems than they fixed, after calling a couple other people to quote fixing what they had done wrong every one of them said I got ripped off.
Warning they are extremely expensive and will argue with you on the phone when you call and tell them they made a mistake. Even the Columbia gas guy that came out to turn the gas on said he has never heard anything goo about MR Rooter.
on 07/03/18 they came out to clean out my drain it was back up and it has been awhile since we had it clean out took them awhile and they then said the rest of the back up was the city and that didn't fix it then they would have to tear up my basement floor . what!!! I call the city out and they flush their end.
cost me 623.77 okay figure end of problem but nooooo started to have back up in march of 19. so I call waterworks out they may be a little expensive 810.00.
but worth it. anyhow he started to clean out and he call me down and asked again when did I have this clean out and I told him and he say no way.
he told me he has to come tomorrow because he said it is going to take longer. when he got done there was a small pile of roots and I told him to leave them there.
I call mr rooter out and show the guy the roots and he told me they could have grown back. yeah right.
then he ask me why I didn't call them back to take care of the problem I told him I was not having them to tear up my basement. so he put a camera down there and said there was a tile broke down there and he went back to the alley and again said the city was back up and I call the city and they came out and say they didn't see a problem but they went ahead and flush anyhow.
then he told me to fix the broke tile would be about 6800. for them and they would have to tear up my stairs and under my house so that would be extra to fix am I suppose to pull the money out of my ass.
so now it have been almost 10 months since waterworks clean it out right and no problem knock on wood. of course I didn't get my money back from mr rooter.
before the second time I needed some work done on my other house that my daughter live in and they charge over 5000. for it I am thinking I paid too much for that too and they had to come back to refix the leak, and this piss me off too.
it was a good thing I hadn't fix the ceiling let because I would have to refix it again. oh yelp has me in another state but I am in Columbus oh Called them out to clear a sewer line.
The plumber brought 2 more guys and a second truck with him. I knew then this wasn't going to be cheap.
Jet scrubbed my line and told me there was a possible collapse. Verbally shot off an estimate to repair (nothing on paper) took my money and left.
Nearly 4 months later I find out from my insurance company that they did camera the line and that my problem is bigger than what I thought. They did what I asked, which clear the line.
Just failed to tell me they did use a camera, never showed me the images and told me it was the first 3 feet of line. However they gave my insurance adjuster more information than gave me and I was the one footing the bill.
I'm sure they do a great job they just fail at giving you all of the information you need. BTW, sewer lines are not covered in insurance policies so don't bother calling to ask or you'll end up like me with a 3 month deadline to repair it.
Well, I had a tech come out to snake my kitchen sink. To make a long story short...
My pipe ended up broke, still unable to use kitchen sink AND they charged me full price not knowing if the problem was solved . Have not received a call back from manager.
Just a little disappointed. Mr.
Rooter requires the customer accept a 2 hour window for service or estimates. It is not convenient for most, but - in theory - it should ensure that there are no issues with appointments since a great deal of cushion is provided to them.
I was scheduled for a 4-6pm window after telling them that I would need to leave work to meet their estimator for a major job estimate. I arrived at 3:45.
At 4:40 I called to make sure all was on track and that I was on the schedule and was assured that I was. At 5:20 I was called and notified that they would not make their appointment time and that they would be there at "some time" that night.
I informed them that I was sitting at a vacant property just waiting for them and that I would give my business to someone else. I'd say to go elsewhere and give your business to someone who has at least some level of consideration and respect for their customers and their customer's time.
Our technician, Tim S., was amazing! Very knowledgeable, nice, patient and helpful. He came out, explained what was wrong and provided insight into solutions.
We will definitely be using Mr. Rooter and hopefully Tim again.
Called for a plumber for a broken kitchen pipe. I can't rate the service because I haven't received it yet.
Was supposed to have a plumber out yesterday between 3-5, no show! Called them at 5:30 and was very apologetically rescheduled for the next day 10-12 with a "priority" flag. OK, stuff happens.
Well no phone call and no show so far today at 2:30!! I have called twice to be told I am "next". WIll consider an updated rating IF they ever show and offer good service and compensation for my 2 day/ 6 hours and counting wait time! this was the first time i had used mr.
rooter for any plumbing repair. the initial price quoted upon arrival and review of my needs was $563.91.
the tech was there about 30min and had things apart when he told me that it was taking longer than expected to pull a shower valve off and that it would be an extra $132.36 for the labor. less than 5-10min later he got the valve off.
you can do the math. i am not a fan of such surprises in terms of the additional while in the middle of a job i had already been given a quote on right there on site after initially looking at everything.
i am only writing this review as i've waited for weeks to see if i received a follow up survey from the company to voice my opinion but have not thus the review. Thank you, Mr.
Rooter, for having a team of great professionals, such as Sam Teegarden! I was highly impressed with his expertise and desire to help. His service call visit on January 18th 2016 was an example of how a service technician could go beyond his duties to ensure great customer satisfaction.
Mr. Teegarden is a true asset to the company, and deserves to be commended for his service! Thank you very much! Was anxious to get a quote from this company in hopes of saving some money, wrong! Higher than the previous quote by 40%.
The serviceman said "yes I work on commission and this has been happening all week. " won't be calling again.
I have used Mr. Rooter in the past, so when our tub was draining slowly I called Mr.
Rooter for their $95 drain cleaning special. Sam T.
was the service technician that came to our home. He was very friendly and professional.
He explained so much to me about the plumbing in our house that was built back in the 40s. He was able to tell me how to keep the problem from reoccurring and gave me a reasonable estimate.
Great customer service - I will definitely use Mr. Rooter again! Thanks to Mr.
Rooter and Sam! Had an awful experience with Mr. Rooter.
Scheduled a service call for a leaking faucet and was given an 2 hour window. No one arrived.
An hour after the window ended, I received a call they were delayed but would be at my home shortly. No one came.
4 hours later I received another call noting they will not be coming but we could re-schedule to another day. Not the type of service one would expect from a company that purports to be customer-friendly.
NEVER USE MR ROOTER.... While I am not sure of the specific franchise, they came for a routine clogged shower drain...
gave me quote of $150, then snaked through my pipes, water out my ceilings causing several thousand dollars of total repair and said my lead pipes were "corroided" ... I kept the lead trap and you can't bend it with a hammer..
Once they got the signature to replace the entire damaged lead line (5') they disconnected the line, flushed the toilet causing 1.5 gallons of water to fall in my family room ceiling and hardwood floor. As I cleaned up the water, they said they had to leave to get parts --- with the drains now disconnected, my entire house smelled like sewer as the gases almost killed us ....
Not being a plumbing expert and relying on these idots to do the right thing, I am thinking I am done... until, a drywall guy comes in to fixt the 8 FEET of damaged ceiling only to tell me I need to get a plumber in because it looks like things are leaking and asking why they did not replace the whole line ...
sure enought, they replaced only part of the lead line ... now I come to find they did not replace the wax ring on the toilet when they pulled it to clean the drain ....
I wrote the company (twice) asking to review the entire case and no response..... NEVER USE THIS COMPANY --- This place is crazy.
I called to get an estimate on the phone to have my main sewer line augered (cleaned out due to back up). They couldn't give me an over the phone estimate like the local plumbers here in Delaware, OH.
They had to send out a tech for a free estimate. Now, my local plumbers called two of them, both said $159per hour to do the work.
Mr. Rooter shows up and says it would be $460.00!! Not sure why they are almost 3 times as much to do the same project.
If you want to waste money call them, but i say call around.'''.
