A shower that’s leaking, draining slowly, losing pressure, or running cold is more than just an annoyance, it’s a problem that tends to get worse (and more expensive) the longer you leave it.
Whether it’s a worn-out cartridge causing drips, a clogged drain backing up water, a faulty valve messing with your temperature, or tiles hiding a slow leak behind the wall, shower issues usually have a root cause that only a trained plumber can properly diagnose and fix.
When you search for shower repair in Columbus, you want someone who can look beyond the obvious and make sure the fix actually lasts, not just a quick patch that fails again in a few weeks. A good shower repair pro will assess everything from water pressure and drainage to valves and seals, giving you a shower that works the way it should every single day.
The most common shower issues include clogged drains (usually from hair and soap buildup), leaking or dripping showerheads, faulty or worn cartridges in the valve, low water pressure, temperature fluctuations, bad smells from the drain, and water leaking through grout or tiles into the wall. Most of these problems are very fixable when caught early, but can lead to bigger damage — like mold or structural water damage — if ignored.
A dripping shower is almost always caused by a worn or damaged cartridge, valve seat, or O-ring inside the shower valve. These parts degrade over time and lose their ability to create a proper seal. The good news is that in most cases, a plumber can replace just the faulty component without having to tear out the wall or replace the entire valve.
Low shower pressure can be caused by a few different things — a clogged or faulty showerhead, mineral buildup inside the pipes, a partially closed valve, or even a break in the supply line letting sediment in. A plumber can quickly identify whether the issue is with the showerhead itself or something deeper in the plumbing system and get the pressure back to where it should be.
This is usually a sign of a failing pressure-balancing valve or a worn mixing cartridge. When these components wear out, they can no longer properly regulate the ratio of hot and cold water, causing uncomfortable temperature swings. This is especially common in older showers and is a very worthwhile repair — both for comfort and safety, since extreme temperature swings can cause scalding.
Yes, and more quickly than most people realize. A shower that leaks behind the wall or through the floor can silently damage subflooring, wall framing, and insulation — and create the perfect conditions for mold growth. If you notice soft spots on the floor near the shower, peeling paint, a musty smell, or water stains on a ceiling below the bathroom, those are all warning signs that water has been getting somewhere it shouldn’t.
In most cases, repair is the right call — especially if the shower itself is structurally sound and the issues are plumbing-related, like a bad valve, worn cartridge, or blocked drain. Replacement makes more sense when the shower pan is cracked, the tile is beyond saving, or multiple issues are stacking up on an older unit. A plumber can give you an honest assessment of whether a repair will hold up long-term or whether it’s time to start fresh.
Costs vary depending on what needs fixing. A simple showerhead replacement or drain cleaning is on the lower end, while valve replacements, cartridge swaps, or leak repairs that require opening up the wall will cost more due to additional labor. Getting a quote from a local plumber in {city} before the work begins is always the best way to avoid surprises and understand exactly what you’re paying for.

Joel and his team went above and beyond to make sure they helped us fix the gas leak. Joel is a man of his word and came through on his promise.
Very expensive. Make sure you establish the price up front. They did some work on gas pipes, which was specialized so the prices weren't so horrible.
They did a good job and came quickly. Installed a bidet in my toilet. Shout out to Casey for the quality work.
Scheduled service for a clogged toilet and never showed. No call, all messages unanswered
If its an easy fit sure they maybe great but if its something different then quoted they are going to charge you either way a hefty price.
They never called my property manager, or myself, to ask if they could do an additional estimate while at my property. I was shocked. Companies cannot go around doing estimates.
Mike showed up in an hour to shut off a spigot that I could not shut off. Always great friendly service at a reasonable price!!!
