Review and analyze now for company Universal Plumbing and Sewer and provide the analysis in the discussed format for the following reviews: '''I just had them come out and do a Drain Cleaning. They did a great job.
Figured out the issue and took care of it. It always helps to have professionals look at an issue and just tell you what's going on and how they will fix it.
It turned out to be something simple and cheap. I can't thank you enough for your help.
Call these guys and have them help you. Don't take it on yourself and stress out over it.
Fix it before it gets even worse and takes a lot more money to fix. ~ Jeff Spencer LIARS and SCAMMERS.
. So they sent out "Arthur S" to fix a leaking three handle bathtub faucet.
A simple repair . This lying scammer told me that it was against code to work on it and then I would need to break out the wall and replace it with a single handle faucet for only $1250.
This was a lie and I knew it . I laughed in his face and got it repaired by a real plumber for $240.
I am sick and tired of these LIARS thinking we are stupid and trying to CHEAT unwary customers, even when given honest work to do. I do not like lying, scumbag plumbers wasting my time and trying to STEAL from me.
Do not waste your time with these LIARS. This is gonna be long, so bear with me.
If I could give more stars I would. We could not be happier with the amazing job and professionalism this company did for us At a very stressful time, they made it easy, and actually fun.
We had a very, very bad case of drain flies that were caused by corroded sewer pipes. Our whole basement had to be dug up and replaced.
Our front yard also needed to be dug up and replaced. Every person we dealt with, from the first minute they answered the phone until our very last minute of the job, was over the top wonderful and they all need to be recognized for their greatness.
Arthur came to do the quote and warranty work, Trisha in the office, John came out to just answer our questions in person and run through what was gonna happen, what we called the A team, Justin, Chris, Koa, Jack and chip. Adam came in to make sure everything was going great, which it was.
They were polite and cleaned up everything every day they left. We can not praise them enough.
So happy with every part of the job and it was a very big one. If you ever need a plumber they are the ones to call.
Thank you all so much. Had some clogged drains in multiple areas around the house so I called universal plumbing to come out.
They arrived within the scheduled time and my plumber was Drew. Drew is the man.
He explained everything he was doing and made sure to tell me to ask any questions I have. He gave me multiple options for every issue I had and was incredibly helpful and professional throughout.
He was so helpful and I can't stress that enough. Plumbers have a negative stigma with doing work that isn't needed to charge more money but I can guarantee you this was not the case with Drew and universal plumbing.
I can't recommend them enough and especially Drew! Appreciate your help! What good fortune did we have by stumbling upon this wonderful resource via Yelp. Our upstairs toilet sprung a leak through the hose connected to the water connection.
I went to Yelp, saw all the great reviews and gave the company a call on Sunday morning, 11.20.22. The kind operator let me know there were no resources but told me someone could be out the next day.
Mark & Liam arrived on time. They were professional, efficient and thankfully they were kind as I was a hot mess today.
Well, I'm probably a hot-stressed mess most of the time but especially more so today. They not only repaired the upstairs toilet but they fixed an issue with the downstairs toilet as well.
They took the time to explain why we were having issues and made quality repairs over the shotty work done by a previous popular brand that rhymes with Broter Brooters. Mark & Liam went above and beyond in providing quality service; thank you Universal Plumbing & Sewer! Universal Plumbing saved my home from a disastrous situation of a major sewer backup and crack in the sewer line.
All the employees who were at my home during the week of 2/5-2/10/23 were a life saver. My two sons and I just moved in our new home 3 days before Christmas 2022 and I thought at some point we would not be able to live in my 1st home I purchased much longer, it was scary.
I definitely want to recognize the crew that installed my new clean out, and Arthur & the other gentleman who hydro-jetted the line as well as installed a pipe patch. I cannot thank all of you enough from Universal Plumbing for the quick turnaround and giving my family back that "peace of mind".
I have used this business twice now for plumbing repair in my residential home. I couldn't be more satisfied with the service that I received from booking, to the service call, and work performed.
The technicians are prompt and courteous. They are quick to identify problems and thorough in their explanation.
They provide pictures of the problem area(s) and also provide several options/quotes for the repair at hand. The quality of the work is top notch.
The finished repairs appear to be very neat and professional. They are tidy and leave no trash behind.
Although they might cost slightly more than competitors, the reasons mentioned above are well worth the extra price and the peace of mind. They also have a membership plan and offer discounts depending on eligibility.
I will recommend this company to anyone and plan on using them again in the future. Chris C.
is an amazing employee! He arrived on time, was patient, looked over the emergency backup situation we were having, explained everything to us in detail, and performed a job that wasn't easy. Chris fixed the issue and explained to us what may have caused the issue and which steps to take going forward.
I was seriously shocked at the amazing experience we had. I will use and trust universal plumbing in the future because of Chris C.
Make this guy a manager! After having my drain snaked twice I needed a different option. Called Universal Plumbing for a service that they offer which is a Hydro flush of the drain.
They came to give an estimate and two days later came back to perform the service. Josh and Colin came, they both were as professional as could be.
Josh even gave another remedy for the smell. Pricing wasn't bad compared to the going rate.
I definitely recommend calling Universal for your plumbing needs. The looming concern over basement flooding has caused high anxiety for many homeowners.
Personally, my basement flooded a couple of times throughout the years. My basement is accessed via an underground garage which further adds to the flood anxiety.
Rather than move and make it someone else's problem, I was seeking a permanent solution. Tony and his team at Universal were challenged with the daunting task of creating a system that would put us at ease.
The first thing Tony recommended was backflow preventers. Now that this was agreed upon, we moved on to taking care of the water collection when we had nowhere to go with it.
Somehow, underneath my shed is a concrete basin roughly 10'x10'x6'. I've never quite understood what the purpose of the reservoir as for.
We discussed the possibility of using this as a catch basin. Tony received the necessary approvals to make it happen.
Tony and his team came out and were able to redirect the flow of water into the catch basin if the backflow preventer was activated. I installed a camera in the well.
When serious rain falls, I can watch the system at work as the backflow preventer is activated, the basin fills, and once a set level is hit, the pumps clear the basin into an area in my yard. The underlying concern that I used to have when hearing rain is in the forecast has disappeared.
Thanks go out to Tony and Universal for putting my mind at ease. Recently used them twice.
My old sump pump failed, and Arthur came out. He replaced He replaced it in no time.
He answered a couple questions He replaced it in no time. He answered a couple questions I he replaced it in no time.
He answered a couple questions I had before I even had a chance to ask them. He even gave me my paperwork out of the box that I'd like to write the date out and keep.
I will definitely request him again. The second time was Memorial Day weekend Saturday.
My main bathroom toilet started continually running every 2 minutes at 5:30 pm. I had company coming the next day for the holiday weekend.
I was very nervous about whether I could get someone out here. Dawn answered the phone and was very calming.
She told me Chip was on call, but he was two hours away. I said that was fine because I had no choice.
Chip came out. Determined the problem.
But didn't have the part in his truck. Ok now I'm freaking out a little.
However, he didn't want to leave me hanging. So after driving 2 hours here, he went to Lowes, which lucky for me didnt close til 10:00, and got the part.
What a guy ! I was all fixed and done by 9:30. Great job.
I'll stay with them. I was having a new fridge installed in my house on monday.
Home depot won't install a fridge if there is no water cut-off switch located behind the old fridge. So I called Universal to have them come out and install a cutoff switch behind my current fridge.
They came out the next day which was nice since i was in a rush, kinda.. A nice young man named Bryce layed it out for me.
He was very informative and courteous. He explained all of the different things we could do.
I should say that I called my friend back home (who is a plumber) and I asked him what the price might be for something like this and my friend told me anywhere between $600 and $1200 depending on a lot of factors. So when I chose an option from Bryce, I didn't know what to expect.
Yelp reviews of Universal Plumbing (even the 5 star reviews) said that the company can be pricey, even if the work was well done. So, I was a bit scared of the price Bryce was going to give me.
To my surprise, it only came to $520 which was $80 less thatn the lowest price my friend gave me.. So if you read the good, the bad and the ugly of the reviews, keep in mind, they came off fair to me.
I can't speak for everyone, but for me, they shot me straight. That alone, can be hard to find nowwa days.
Thanks to Bryce and Myrna!! We have plumbing problems everywhere we go...why not. This time, we needed a new plumber (the old one was expensive and sold my dad an unnecessary furnace plan which led to them recommending a new furnace over a $200 problem) so we called Universal.
Their communication was exceptional and the fix was quick. They cleaned up after the job, and then called about a day later to make sure that we were satisfied.
Overall, we were! Mount Clemens, MI- I had them out twice for sewer/drain service. The first time I just had the line snaked (cheaper) and it lasted about a year.
The second time I called them I had it video-scoped and water-jeted. At all times they were professional, curtious and clean.
I had to have them out again a week later as the toilet was not flushing correctly still. John came right away and put the scope down.
Long story short; He and his helper spent a good deal of time troublesdhooting a puzzling problem. I was impressed when he found the issue, corrected the issue (apparently a long standing one), and cleaned up ALL WITH NO EXTRA CHARGE! ........They do stand behind their work and I recommend them to you.
Are worker big jim was really helpful in the bathroom he helped clog out the poopers. When they were clogged up from taco bell and Qdoba and Chipotle.
Bean burrito ohhhhh noooooo Reliable kind so helpful not pushy For a single women I felt confident in having them help my situation Found my basement sewer backed up in the middle of the afternoon with a pool of water 3 ft around the sewer. Called and they were able send out a drain expert the same day.
They were professional and polite, snaked out the drain in no time and left an estimate for further treatment. Thank you Chris! Basement floor break sewer main replacement.
Technicians were all polite, honest and communicated well. Work was completed in timely manner.
Thank you Universal! John P and a partner just left my home February 22nd and they were absolutely amazing and professional. They were respectful of my home, were very communicative and very quick at their job.
I had leaking in the basement that flooded into my bathroom and they had detected the problem and fixed it within an hour. I was charged less then I was quoted for just a consultation from another company.
Would recommend Universal plumbing to anyone who values quality work. Called several companies around town and the best response I got was 2-3 days.
These guys were out in two hours. Gave me a quote, did the work, and cleaned up.
Don't know how any plumber can tell you to wait when the water is leaking without even offering a reference. No plumbing job is cheap when it can cause water damage so if you were like me - call these guys and have it done right! Now if I could only find an electrician with this kind of commitment! Company has resolved three issues I have had over the past year at pricing rates that in line with competition.
Basic $39 fee to come out and quote repair. Responded to all my issues same day or when requested.
Ranging from replacing broken flange on toilet ($500) to diagnosing and replacing leaking kitchen sink faucet ($600). Recommend as they are reliable and provide pricing up front that is clearly laid out.
They have large amount of skilled Technicians to ensure issues are able to be looked at and resolved quickly after contacting them. WOW! I can't say enough about the service I received! My sump pump flooded my basement and I contacted Universal on Thursday evening.
They were here Friday and replaced my entire system at a fair price, explained every step of the process, and treated me like I was family, not just a number or another job. I moved to Michigan 4 years ago and my family had used the same family-owned father-son company for 50 years.
Search for someone to trust here was difficult and I know I made the right choice! I can't thank them enough for the swift, quality service. I can sleep tonight knowing my basement is secure again.
Thank you so much! This wasn't a clog or a leak; this was a request for a quote to repipe our galvanized lines and I am not going to pay for a quote. They seem afraid of competition and try to lock the homeowner in because an out-of-pocket investment is made.
The "valuable time of a tech coming out" is baloney. I asked to schedule a quote; then you schedule when a tech is in the area.
Better yet, hire salespeople or have management issue quotes if the tech's time is so valuable. I suspected this was an expensive project so we are shopping and Universal just seems unwilling to compete.
Great company! They came out for an emergency repair, they were excellent at finding the problem & very fair with their pricing! They completed my job in a day from start to finish!!! Would highly recommend! I couldn't get any other Plummimg Company to come out the same day Thank you Universal plumbing!! Excellent service, our Tech, Chris, went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect. Highly recommend Had a garbage disposal installed by JD.
He came out on time and was friendly. That's about all the positives I have to say.
The first problem came up when instead of just trying to install the garbage disposal he spent 30 minutes trying to up sell me a $400 job to bring my plumbing "back up to code". You can tell these techs are trained to up sell non-stop and he ended up wanting to basically redo my entire kitchen plumbing.
I said no and just to install the garbage disposal. Everything seemed fine once the disposal was installed and I paid my $350 for his hour of work.
Then starting at 11pm I'm getting calls and texts from him that he forgot to remove the knockout plug. First thing is I'm not answering any calls at 11pm nor should a business allow its employees to call that late and secondly the amount that he called and texted was getting to the point of creepy and very unprofessional.
I feel like if he wasn't so focused on selling me the extra $400 job he wouldn't have forgotten about the plug. Long story short, I did not want to have him back in my home so I finished the job myself and still paid them $350.
I will probably try to dispute this through my credit card company. I want nothing to do with this company ever again.
Complete rip off. Charged double what the other companies around charge for a simple storm drain snaking job, and still didn't unclog the drain.
I had to call another company. Update: "weeding out" customers by asking for a charge to come out is a somewhat questionable way to treat potential business customers.
Had your company offered to discount the service call fee if the job was complete, it would be a different discussion. How would you react if a store asked you a fee to enter so they can compensate for people that decide not to buy anything? I find it quite amazing that my review is being questioned because I don't agree to pay a fee blindly.
Once I pay someone a fee to come out to my house that company already has a foot in my door to ask for any price they want. Again: no, thank you.
This company is the worst! I had watering leaking out of my tub faucet and called this company to take a look and see what they can do. They charged me $69 for a quote to tell me that it would take $1495 to replace the whole thing.
So, after decided that I would just deal with the leak of of hot water. The technician cut off my water and Hot water to my home.
I had no hot water at all. I called them back to get another technician here.
He came out and hit the valve on the water heater and hit the pipelines some how. Yet not actually cutting the water on the verify if the hot water was back on.
He instead tried to sell the same replacement as the other rep at a lower price. We thought he was helpful at the time so we tipped him $20.
Long behold, an hour later..I checked the tub and still no water and around the house and still no hot water. I called this company back to advise them that we are still having problems and I was placed on hold for a rep to confirm with the technician.
He stated that the technician said he check to see if the hot water was working (which he didn't) and the rep stated, "If for some reason some else tampered with you water heater and we have to send another technician is sent out we will charge you an additional $90.00 I was outraged and felt scammed. This is a company that is only about the money.
They don't care about the damage left. They just want to charge you every second they get.
Horrible Came to my home where my drains were backed up, tried to push me to get a $1,000 hydrojetting done. Called another company for a second opinion and the second company told me that was ridiculous.
The second company went right to a drain that the Universal guys told me they, "didn't know if they had the tool for." The second company solved my issue within 30 minutes and for hundreds of dollars less. Fast, friendly, competitively priced.
I wanted an outside faucet installed at the back of my home. This required quite a bit of new plumbing in the basement.
Jim was very responsive when I called and came out in a few days. Did a great job at a very reasonable cost.
Highly recommend! Universal is such a great company! I've never had a complaint and we've used their company multiple times! They are always super courteous and pricing is extremely fair! 10/10 recommended !!! Thanks Universal :) The prior plumber left a terminated pipe length of 12" that crimped, not capped. Over two years the pipe pressure finally created a small leak at the crimp.
Universal Plumbing came out and eliminated to excess pipe capping it at the T like it should have been initially. Their pricing is fair and their people are professionals.
I had a bad experience with this company. I had a leaking pipe from my sump pump to outside.
They came and cleaned out pipe $400. Then suggested we have the high powered clean out to get more buildup $850.
After doing both, a week later the pipe was still leaking. They suggested another high powered clean out.
At that point I felt like I was being scammed! I called and spoke with Tony (manager) . He offered to come out and do another camera inspection free of charge.
I declined. He quoted me a price of $5000 to replace the pipe and he would credit the $850.
I went with a different company. New company Roncelli great job!! This is my second time using Universal.
I will never use anyone else! They were professional, explained everything, told me about other things they offered without any pressure and fixed my issue perfectly. I thought the prices were great as well.
I highly recommend Universal!! Chip was very professional and knowledgeable. Cleaned up after himself and was COVID safe.
Overall the company was responsive and helpful. Even though the issue was not solved today, they helped put a plan together to fix it tomorrow with different tools.
Paul arrived as promised, reviewed the job and provided an estimate. The estimate was significantly more than I had anticipated, but since I was under a time constraint I ok'd the work.
Paul did a great job and we're very pleased with the final result. While they cancelled my first appointment, and I feel the charges were high, I accepted the quote because I needed the work done and didn't want to wait.
The young man who came out did a good job, he made sure he kept the area clean and protected, and was courteous. I asked for a quote for another small job that I haven't seen, which I anticipate to be high, but probably will hire them again due to the caliber of there young plumber.
I called several plumbing vendors to clear a clogged kitchen drain. Most were unable to make a house call the same day.
I then called Universal who responded within hours. Bryce (my Universal rep) was courteous, professional, and fast.
I would recommend them and I plan to use them again. I can't say enough good things about my technician, Chris.
I had a pipe burst in my duplex, and god it was the worst feeling I've had in awhile. Chris showed up within 30 minutes of my frantic phone call, assessed the situation, broke down everything that went wrong, what he's doing to fix it, and what steps to take next to restore the property to what it was before.
I was completely in the dark about what to do and he gave me a blueprint to follow. I don't feel like I was gouged in terms of price either considering it was a weekend emergency call and he was on his way home.
If you have a plumbing issue, give these fine people a call and ask for Chris, I know I will. Chip was fantastic.
I had accidently mixed up the days of my appt (100% on me) and so the day off I was actually in the middle of a training session so I was all over the place. Chip fixed the issue and was as polite and understanding as possible.
I've never been disappointed by Universal Plumbing and will forever recommend them. Chris was our plumber and he was amazing! He took the time to explain everything to us that was wrong, what he would have to do to fix it, and helped us to understand the decision we would need to make.
I highly recommend universal plumbing and sewer. I used Universal Plumbing to video my sewer line for roots and other obstructions.
The wore gloves, masks, and footies. On time, professional and efficient.
I would recommend them to my friends and family. Kitchen sink was clogged.
I used home advisor to find someone. These we're the only ones with same day appt.
Not only did they give me same day, they called and were able to get me in 1 hour before my appointment time. The plumber came did the work in a very timely manner, was polite and knowledgeable.
Work was done in about an hour and the price was more than reasonable. He was also able to give me advice on how to prevent this from happening again.
He even liked my dogs. Will use them again if the need arises.
Got several quotes from plumbing companies for a simple water heater. This is the only company that charged a $69.00 fee just to come out for an estimate.
On top of that they came in $400.00 higher than any other quote I got. I would not recommend using them by any means.
I've lived and worked in 6 states doing facilities work for companies and this is the first one that had to charge a fee for an estimate and there pricing and reasoning was outrageous. I moved into a new house and needed my dryer re-installed after a terrible job from another plumber.
JD was able to quote and complete the work in the same day. Their staff was extremely professional and explained all of my options and everything in the process.
I feel confident in the work that was completed. I would highly recommend this company! There was a foreign object in our pipes that must have fell in during a snake job in the past.
I called for a quote and they had very competitive prices and also offered all the services we ended up needing, which was convenient rather than calling to schedule with multiple services. They were always right on time, professional, and timely.
Had plumber come out to fix garbage disposal. He was on time, professional, and quickly fixed the problem.
Highly recommended this company! I called for a quote for someone to hook up a water heater. That's it.
Everything is there all brand new ready to go. No quote over the phone someone has to come out and do an inspection and give a quote for everything they think you need etc.
so we schedule it and the guy wants $1500! Not only that, but the quote cost $39.00 and they never tell you that. What a waste of time and $39.00 Chip from Universal Plumbing just left my daughters home in RO.
This young man knows his "stuff"!!! He snaked the floor drains and the laundry tub drain due to slow drainage. The yuck he pulled out of these drains was disgusting.
I had a million questions for Chip, and he was kind enough to answer every single one. I got quite the education today and am very grateful for Chips patience and doing such an excellent job here.
He even cleaned up after he was finished and sprayed disinfectant as well. I would highly recommend Universal Plumbing.
I will ask for Chip if it's a job he can do. Very professional.
Extremely honest. Laughed at all my jokes even when they weren't funny.
As pleasant an experience as circumstance would allow. Thanks again! Lee W.
Was the consummate professional. Even though he encountered an odd situation of faulty new hardware, he diligently worked until the issue was solved.
Very pleased with results. Would highly recommend Universal.
11/23/2018: Once again, Mark solved a plumbing problem for me, this time in my laundry room. I needed more space for a new washer and dryer.
Mark assessed the problem, explained a couple of possible solutions, and gave me a price quote for each. I chose the less costly solution, and it turned out great.
Mark moved my laundry tub (new tub and fixtures) six inches over to the side wall, which solved the space issue. As always, he did a great job and went the extra mile to correct the main problem, along with another small leak nearby.
I really appreciate his attention to detail. He's always on time, explains things clearly, performs work thoroughly, and cleans up the area before leaving.
Mark is a real pro! I needed some plumbing work done under the kitchen sink for a new dishwasher. Mark was on time, very friendly and informative.
Did a good job in a reasonable time. Thanks Mark This company is great to work with.
They were quick/easy to make an appointment to come out and their prices were very reasonable. I appreciated him taking the time to explain exactly what he'd be doing.
I had a leak under the kitchen sink. One of the hoses broke down.
It was attached to hot water. Mark from Universal Plumbing came and he recommended changing a whole faucet which cost me 659.00$.
Before he started I told him that I shut down hot water to the left side but couldn't do anything on the right side because I was afraid it will break down. He totally misunderstood me thinking that I shut down water in the basement.
I have no clue where to shut water in the basement, and instead of checking if water was shut down he started his work and broke hose on the right side, and water started splashing everywhere, and went down to my basement. He started cursing and blaming me because he was told that water was shut down.
I was so surprised that he will blame me for that instead of checking before he started doing anything. He said that he is to old to get water splashed on him.
I apologized to many times and felt very uncomfortable with the whole situation. Couldn't wait for him to finish and leave my house.
What kind of professional he is if he doesn't shut down water first before repair or replacement. Same if I said to electrician power is down and he starts without checking first.
I was so discomfortable with his curse words in my house. My kids heard him.
I would never hired anyone from this company. I have been a customer of Universal Plumbing since 2015, and they never disappoint.
Of course no one is happy when they are having a sewer backup, but they make trying situation go as smooth as possible. They are always courteous and prompt, and they are respectful of your property.
I'm always satisfied with the service and professionalism of Universal Plumbing! Know what they're doing and show up on time. They aren't cheap but you get quality work.
Great company, great customer service and Paul P was super helpful and friendly! I'd highly recommend Universal. Called and got same day service for our garbage disposal and got a new kitchen faucet installed as well.
Best service ever. Mark was fantastic.
These guys are great, they came out same day to give me a quote (cheaper than several other companies) and also fixed the issue while they were here. Best plumbing company I've ever worked with.
I contacted them and the plumber arrived an hour later. He was courteous and skillful.
The price was higher than expected but after hiring to handymen first. It was a bargain.
Awesome job!! Felt very comfortable leaving the guys at my home while I went to work. They were professional, considerate and kept me informed on how the job was going.
I would 100% recommend. Excellent service fast and easy to work with explain everything before they did the job shows you the quote give you an option to approve or not approve the work explain everything while doing the job showed me what was wrong before they did it the only thing is is that they are a little pricey but I was okay with it because of how well they worked and how fast it was done I will use them again This company made no attempt to fix my problem which was a dripping hot water heater.
The said the repair they could try for 350.00 would likely not work, they said replace it for over 1200.00. While waiting for the new one a friend talked me through releasing the pressure though the release valve, that fixed it for good.
WHEN I ASKED FOR REFUND BECAUSE HE DIDN'T EVEN TRY TO FIX IT, THEY AGREED TO THE REFUND BUT DEMANDED AN NONDISCLOSURE BE SIGNED FIRST. I REFUSED, THIS WARNING COSTED ME 40.00 BUCKS.
My wife and I had them out to replace part of our sewer line. Initially we were very happy with them.
However, after digging out the line and replacing it instead of mounding the dirt as they should have a large majority of it was spread across our yard. I showed pictures of the completed work to multiple plumbing/sewer line companies (to give full disclosure I work in an industry where we refer/have access to a large number of contractors and the people I showed the "completed" work to I also have professional relationships with...which I would have probably gone with a different company initially anyway, but my wife set the original appointment up with Universal) and NOT ONE person who looked at the final photos did NOT say..."you're gonna have a problem." Multiple times both myself and my wife reached out to this company regarding the work not being completed properly (and as initially discussed with the onsite staff---we were told to expect to have an 18"-36" mound over the area of ground where the pipe had been excavated).
Every response given was that we would not have an issue with ground settling due to it being sand...while LESS than three weeks later we are already having areas directly over where the trench was dug that have sunk down close to 12". Additionally, while filling the trench in after attaching the sewer line the onsite staff apparently felt it was ok to throw the pieces of cut/unused pvc piping into the trench as it was being filled in rather than disposing of it properly, which to my shame I said nothing about at the time although I was unhappy about it, but I was afraid of ticking off the people who were fixing my problem.
In my correspondence with Universal I did mention this issue as well and it was wholly ignored. While Universal has repeatedly stated to both myself and my wife that there would be no settling, they did say...but if there was, they would be happy to bring dirt out to us to replace the dirt they did not put back into place...for an additional fee! At this point I am FAR less concerned regarding the work not being completed in a satisfactory manner than I am with their disregard to a customer's genuine concern regarding a potential issue (which has already been borne out).
I am thankful I have never recommended this company to any of my clients. Highly recommend.
Universal came to my house quickly and resolved my issue right away. The price was reasonable, Paul was knowledgeable and explained his process clearly.
We have been very happy with Universal plumbing. We like to request Chris but everyone we've dealt with is professional and courteous.
I highly recommend them. We had a broken spicket in the front of the house and actually needed new shut offs in the house.
JD came right out. He was very informative.
They needed to come back a week later because they needed to shut off the water at the city. They came out the next week, had the city turn the water off and did a great job.
Mark was very informative and did a great job. Quick and affordable service.
My sump pump died on a Monday and they were here the next day and had it replaced in no time. JD was friendly and professional.
I haven't had great experience with plumbers in the past but this experience was great. Left no mess and cleaned up after himself.
Glad I now know who to call when I have any plumbing issues in the future We use Universal at the property management company I work at - I am usually the one handling repairs and emergency calls and they always come through with prompt attention and fair pricing. The send you an email with the picture of the technician that is going to your house - Exellent touch! They are easy to get a hold of and communicate with.
Very lucky to have found such a great company! Universal always does a great job quickly and at a fair. I have used them many times and it always the same great service.
Had Universal Plumbing out in early September to unclog one of our waste lines which regularly clogs up. We have had a few companies come out to unclog the line as the line has a permanent problem and needs to be ripped up and replaced so it clogs about every 9 months or so.
I gave Universal a chance as I wanted to find a new company which offered emergency off-hour services in case the problem came up on a weekend or holiday. So to start, I called up and talked to a woman on the phone and she told me it would be a base cost of $250 to have somebody come out on Saturday for the service and since my clean out was in my crawlspace, they would have to give me a quote for the extra costs due to it being in a crawlspace when they arrived.
So I had them come out on a Saturday morning to fix it. The guy arrives and tells me it will be an extra $150 due to it being in a crawlspace.
I tell him that I would need to think about it with the cost being so high as I have never paid more than $300 total for this line to be snaked. Then I find out the $250 service call price is due whether I have him do the service or not, so I am basically forced to pay them the total $400 to snake the line or be out the $250 completely.
So the guy gets to work and is just complaining the whole time doing it, how this is BS that he has to do a project like this and how he is putting his life on the line snaking my pipe because of the access to the clean out and just how my house is not up to code because I should have the clean-out in a different spot. I'm sorry that my house is 60 years old and was built to code back in the day but doesn't meet today's code? I tell the guy that this is why I told the woman over the phone that this was a two man job, not for a single guy, and asked why if this was such a burden for him and putting his life on the line, why did he quote the extra work saying he could do it.
The guy just keeps complaining the whole time he snakes my line. When he first starts too, he un-screws the cap for the clean-out and I tell him that the line is going to be completely full of waste because the line is blocked, he unscrews the clean-out and lets the waste pour right into my crawlspace! Any other company I have used has always put a bucket down to catch the waste, nope he just lets it drain right into my crawlspace which is under my family room.
I had to spend my own time after he left, digging out all the contaminated sand from the waste and throwing it out. So the guy finally gets done, he doesn't clean up any of his mess.
Doesn't wipe off the black grease which splattered onto the walls or the side of my washer and dryer from when he was reeling the snake back in, and plus his snake line was all rusty so it left this rusted dust all over my laundry room floor which the guy just leaves. So I pay the guy and he leaves and I figure "Well that was the worst plumber I have had in my home but at least I'm good now through the holidays since I get about 9 months between snakings".
Well last night, I hear the familiar gurgling of my toilet of air being forced out of the bowl, the tell tale sign that the line has clogged back up meaning the guy did a crap job at snaking it since it only lasted for 2 months. I look online at their website and they only give a 30 day warranty on services whereas every other company I have used give a 90 day warranty.
So now I have to get it snaked again, and believe me that I will NOT be calling Universal back for this snaking, or the extra work that I had them quote me while the guy was there for work to the line to make it easier to snake it in the future until we end up replacing the line. This was the worst experience I have ever had with any professional service of any type being done in my home.
Billy arrived on time after a confirmation call from the dispatch. I could not give a confirmation on the job due to a complicated situation.
Billy was very upfront and honest about what needed to be done. I needed him to write a detailed estimate for parts and labor.
This is NOT commonly done in the industry. He was the only one who was able to do that.
Felt like I owed him a beer or two. He didnt have to do that.
In fact, 2 other plumbing companies didnt even bother to write up an estimate the way I need it. The fact that Billy listened to my plea earns him and the company high marks.
You should give company a shot at your plumbing needs for sure. Thank you Billy.
I needed an estimate on replacing the main sewer line. The plumber came between the allotted time.
He showed me the problem with the main and he explained what would need to be done. He was very professional.
Charged us over $200 for a simple toilet valve repair. Charged $69 for diagnostics on top of $39 service call.
Beware senior citizens or those less knowledgeable about plumbing. I gave 2 stars because the problem is fixed (so far) but they will take advantage of you.
They were great! The guys were very kind and knowledgeable, they were able to figure out the issue quickly and gave me lots of options to choose from to get the problem fixed! When they left they cleaned up after themselves, that was appreciated. Would definitely recommend universal plumbing Great service.
Tech was great, he answered all my questions and explained everything he was doing. He was honest, solved the problem and told me what I could do for the future (prevention and treatment).'''.
