One morning, water started pouring into our basement from in between the brick mortar along 2/3 of the wall. A friend recommended Meir.

Mountain View, CA 9/27/12 Another 5 star rating for Master Plumbing - love their orange trucks! All their plumbing staff as well as their office personnel are very courteous and knowledgeable about their plumbing business. It was a weeknight when I got home and found a blue notice from the City of Mountain View, informing me that my water meter was turning, indicating that either my water was running or had a leak on my side of the meter.

Followed their instructions on the notice on where to check for house leaks. Checked everything listed and found that my water meter dial was turning, indicating that there might be a leak between my house valve or internal leaking.

(bad news!)...time to call a plumber because the City of Mountain doesn't go onto private properties to check for leaks. I quickly checked the internet and found Master Plumbing on Yelp.

Decided to call them after reading their reviews which had a high percentage of 5 stars. I called them the following day and was able to have a plumber come out to check my water problem.

Jimmy and Joshua were the first to come, for the assessment, then Sergio and Daniel were the ones that installed my beautiful new copper main line. (discovered that my old main water line was plastic!!).

Sergio and Daniel, thank you for doing an excellent job, because your installation passed the City of Mountain View's inspection. The last to come were Sergio and Jamar who also did a good job in the final clean-up.

All these guys work as a team and are so easy-going that you end up on a first name basis by the time they leave. This is a well-run company because the owner personally came by and surveyed what had to be done and described to me what that entailed.

The office staff was very helpful too, they handled getting the permit from the City of Mountain View to install my new main water line and also called PG&E for me to get them to stop by to mark where the gas and electrical lines were located before Master Plumbing and the electrician started to dig the trenches for the water line and the electrical line. Also, wanted to mention that Sergio and Daniel had to work side-by-side with the electrician and his associate who I had hired to install a new conduit line that ran above my water line so both the plumbers and electricians worked together digging their separate trenches (one for the water line, the other for the electrician line---not an easy task).

Thumbs up!! These guys focus on customer service and doing a great job- which is the TWO key things you want from a plumber. I hired them to take a look at my 100-year-old house plumbing, to investigate a damp patch in the basement crawlspace.

Joey and his crew IMMEDIATELY identify a hairline crack in my plumbing, help me figure out which one it was, and got me videos of the leak in action. Then they gave me their expert recommendation (you should replace the cast iron pipes, and put in a cleanout") and then worked to make that happen, despite the multiple challenges that popped up in the cramped space.

What I liked is that when they have minor mishaps (one of the crew accidentally broke a windowpane next to the pipes) Joey immediately calls me and asks what I'd like to do with it, and offered to repair it themselves- and they had a window guy come in that same day and fixed it, no extra charge. They did not hide it, or put a board up over it, or even just maybe don't mention it- I probably wouldn't have noticed til later.

Instead they were professional the entire way through, and made the process as hands-off as I wanted, and also explained and documented as much as I wanted as well. It's hard to find a good professional in areas you don't personally know well, so a good artisan tradesman is really valuable.

I'm hiring them again to replace other clay piping and extend plumbing to the back house- it's a no brainer. I had pipes under my home replaced by Ruben and his team at alert plumbing.

They were straight forward, had competitive prices, and went through all the details on what the problem was. They were recommended by a family who had a new drain pipe installed and also recommended by a friend.

Recently a family friend had a high water bill and I called Ruben. The family friend called their own plumber.

The other plumber from Yelp that didn't find any issues, but could not explain why the water bill was almost 4x times the regular bill. Ruben came by early and was able to explain why the toilet flush valve was the problem and some common sense to understand how to see and test for ourselves.

He was prompt, honest, and gave a cost vs value in terms of replacing parts on an old toilet vs installing a quality toilet that will last years. Overall I feel pretty confident having worked with him and others in our friends and family group that they are fair and professional.

After a rat gnawed through a water softener hose would we discover how bad things actually were under our house. After replacing the hose, there were several wet spots under our house that followed along the sewer line.

After a repair by Sidney and a follow up check by Ruben, we learned our 70 year old cast iron sewer system was leaking in several places and the drains were clogged beyond recognition. They were plugged yet the drains somehow were flowing.

Raul and Jose have been the primary workers throughout the week removing the old cast iron pipes under the house while upgrading and updating our drains and sewer line. They have been punctual, professional and extremely respectful of our home.

Drop cloths and tarps are meticulously arranged daily and areas tarped over to not disturb clothes and other items. Every day we get an update on what they are doing and what they plan to accomplish.

We are close to being done only to learn the exterior clean out was only upgraded from the street to about 10 feet from the house. The clay pipe is cracked and misaligned with the update done about 25 years ago.

Why would another plumber stop 10 feet short of completing the job? Ruben and his crew showed us the video and explained they need to dig down four feet to remove and replace this 10 foot section. Just more problems for us but so happy we have this team helping us through yet another major plumbing issue.

They have been truthful, honest and look you in the eye when explaining everything. The pricing has been fair, but the professionalism is what truly stands out.

I like to believe I have some experience as a handyman, installing faucets and toilet flaps, interpreting IKEA assembly instructions, etc. But I found myself in a pickle when plunging a sink to improve its drain resulted in the opposite of what I had intended.

Ruben was very responsive to our initial call. He gave us a thorough evaluation of what he thought needed to be done, quoted a reasonable price and didn't try to upsell.

Brian and all the workers were very friendly, and disruption of our home routine was kept to a minimum. They were VERY detail-oriented, from tear out, installation, clean up, and finishing touches.

They even threw in some nice extras. We would hire them again in a heartbeat.

We haven't started work yet but so fair Ruben has been great. Very responsive crew.

Ruben is straight forward and accommodating. He didn't try to upsell or scare us into getting work done in a hurry.

He gave us options and provided a very competitive quote that included permit and a 10 year warranty. When I commented that some other plumbers quoted much more.

He explained Alert Plumbing is a family run business and they do the work themselves so can quote a better price compared to others that charge 30% markup using subcontractors. His hourly rate is $125 which is reasonable and fair for a licensed plumber.

My bathroom sink, toilet, shower all decided to back up at once. Called and they were able to respond that afternoon.

Took almost 2 days to get the problem fixed. Old pipes, rust etc.

but Chris Ortiz stayed last night til the new fixture was in and all was running properly. Professional team ..

I called Alert Plumbing Sunday eve and was told the technician will be by tomorrow between 9 and 11 am. Ruben showed up on time and proceeded to diagnose my problem.

He asked what I had done and then proceeded to inspect and trouble shoot the problem. He got the heater burner working and consulted with an other manufacturing expert and concluded that the heater was working properly.

was busy with many projects at home finally got a chance to write it up. I got a quote from Ruben Oacha for running a gas line to the kitchen and fire place.

the quote was very reasonable, and got on schedule pretty fast. Joey worked on the project and was awesome.

He finished the project on time, and cleaned up the whole place after he was done. Alert Plumbing also helped securing the permit for the project and it went so well.

After few days of this work, our water heater started giving trouble. the pilot would not stay turned on, and i contacted Joey.

He came over to turn it on and did not even charge us. Later we realized that it was time to replace the water heater as it was almost 15 years old and Joey helped replace it too and did a very good job.

I called back and now they told me van broke down. I understand van can break down and thing can happen, but isn't this a basic courtesy to let your customer that you will be late.

It doesn't make sense for me to have to follow up twice. Then first thing the technician tells me as soon he arrived was that the job is $250 but he will give it to me for $200.

$200 was what I was quoted when I made the appointment. Then when I called back to speak to the customer service, and I was told the price is $202.50 and she will give it to me for $200.

Excuse me. How did the price all of a sudden goes up and then comes down to my quoted price as a special discount for being late? Late without giving a heads up is already bad enough, but dishonest is just a no go.

I needed an airgap installed for a new dishwasher I called on a Saturday and got an appointment Tuesday morning. They arrived in the two hour window I was given.

They did a great.job. no mess left behind.

If you have a plumbing job you need done call Alert Ruben and his crew were very thorough. We had a clog in our sewer line, and after they removed the roots that were causing the problem, they determined that the line was sagging and split.

They made sure they did it correct the first time. The broken pipe was replaced and they offered their recommendations.

Mike came at the scheduled time on saturday morning to examine the gas valve in the kitchen. This gas valve is decades old.

A PG&E rep who turned it off said nothing about it, but the Home Depot installers who came with a new gas range said it was "unsafe," so they suggested I get a plumber to replace it. Mike examined it and said that the valve is functional, legal, and safe - no wonder the PG&E rep said nothing about it.

Guess what? Mike saved me money, wrote a friendly note for the Home Depot installers, and went on his merry way. Fortunately, I know Mike will be here to install that gas range at a reasonable price in case the Home Depot installers decide to flake again.
