Review and analyze now for company Burris & Sons Heating, Cooling & Plumbing and provide the analysis in the discussed format for the following reviews: '''My husband found Mr Burris after a quick google search of African American plumbers. We called about 1pm that afternoon by 4pm Mr Burris was at our home.
We have had a slow draining/clogged kitchen sink for over a month that my husband just could not get cleared. We called 2 other well known plumbing companies, they wanted to cut open our wall to clear the clog with a VERY expensive price tag.
Mr Burris was able to unclog the sink quickly and was able to tell my husband how to prevent this from happening again. Timely service at a great price from a man who is obviously very well skilled at what he does.
Thank you Mr Burris we appreciate you. Mr.
Burris knows his craft and is very reasonable. He helped me out of a messy plumbing situation today.
Same day service! Quick return call, which as consumer I value!!! I am appreciative of his knowledge and prompt service. Mr.
Burris came at 7:40pm to repair the hot water heaters at my building which was one hour after I called him. Excellent service.
He is knowledgeable and experienced. This is my second time using his services.
Last year he fixed my tub when it was backing up. Same quality service.
He's funny and a joy to experience. Affordable pricing.
Mr. Burris, was amazing he repaired my clog tub and slow draing problem to perfection.
I truly appreciate his service and honesty. The cost of service was more than fair.
Great Plumber! A drain pipe in my basement was leaking and the sink connected to it was clogged. My house was originally built in 1906 in East Side, and I knew I'd need the help of someone who worked on homes like this one; someone that would know how these old houses worked.
Burris came out here on the same day that I called, fixed the issue within 2 hours and educated me about regular maintenance to prevent this from happening again. He was wonderful! He has 67 years of experience, is a veteran of the armed forces, and is a man who knows his stuff.
I highly recommend seeking his services Mr. Burris has managed the plumbing system of our family's properties for over 10 years.
Mr. Burris has alot of expertise & great professionalism.
It has been great doing business with him. Mr.
Burris also manages the entire condominium's plumbing system. I'm throughly impressed! Mr.
Burris was AWESOME & extremely knowledgeable. He accommodated me and resolved my issue timely.
He was pleasant and very wise. I highly recommend him for your small plumbing jobs, I know he will be my go to from now on.
I appreciate being able to spend my dollars in my community. I called for service at my home and my mom's home.
He was able to fix my AC unit when others told me I needed a new unit and at a good price. Also fixed my mom's furnace within hours of calling.
If you want good honest service Burris is the one to call. Don't look any further.
Highly recommended. Mr.
Burris is an amazing heating/cooling repair technician. He has repaired our air conditioners and hot water heaters on our multifamily building and always does an excellent job! He's respectful, punctual and helps to educate his clients.
We only use Burris and Sons for our needs! I am a senior and had a problem with low water pressure. Previously I was told to fix this problem I would have to replace all the old pipes.
Mr. Burris came out with a large pressure machine.
He was able to clear out the pipes and increase my water pressure with this machine. I am very pleased and saved a lot of money.
I will recommend him to my friends and family. Gloria Norise Great honest service at a reasonable price.
Mr. Burris really knows his business.
He gave me great advice going forward and I will definitely use him in the future. I never received a call from your business.
You failed to show for this appointment. When I contacted your business directly no follow-up was done to complete the work.
My number is a Cell number and I'm always available due to the nature of my job. Like I stated I waited all day with no call from this business.
I had to find another plumber that did the work after hours. I had just closed on my house on 03/26/20 Wednesday, and then discovered a little puddle of water in my basement by the floor drain and furnace today, 03/28/20 Sat.
I have not even moved in my house yet so I was freaking out. The home warranty company I purchased, American Shield Home Warranty, were horrible! When I called them to send a plumber, they said they would send one asap and have them call me.
Well, I kept calling them, and gave up after waiting for three hours since no one would follow up on my service request. So, I decided to do a google search for plumbers and found Mr.
Burris' company. I decided to call them.
Mr. Burris called me in less than an hour and asked what the problem was.
When I told him the problem, he said that he was coming right away. Not only did Mr.
Burris diagnose the problem right away, he fixed it. The water turned out not to be anything major.
Mr. Burris was honest and he did not try to advantage of me since I was a new homeowner.
He went above and beyond his duty. He educated me on my heating, cooling, and plumbing system and that is priceless.
Thank God for Mr. Burris.
I highly recommend him I called Mr. Burris late at night when I came home from work and discovered I had no heat.
First thing the next morning Mr. Burris came to my house personally.
He very quickly got all of my radiator heaters/ boiler working. He was very professional and extremely knowledgeable.
He knew immediately what was wrong with my heat! I will always call Mr. Burris for any of my hearing, or plumbing in the future.
While he was here he also gave me a great referral for some electrical work that I need done in my home. He went over and above and I can truly say that this has been my best home repair service that I have gotten since I moved to Chicago Mr.
Burris is professional, informative and knows his business. In addition to addressing the problem that I called him for (low pressure in my multi-unit building), the things that he taught me about regular maintaining my plumbing and things I can do to prevent problems, made his reasonable service fee more than worth it.
Professional, knowledgeable and demonstrated expertise. I have nothing but great things to say about the service that I received.
I received my unit from my tenant in shambles. A/C wasn't working, thumping faucets when you turn on the hot water.
Nothing major, but if it was reported, it could have been addressed. Mr Burris took my call and responded the following morning to confirm issues.
He arrived 15-20 minutes later. He diagnosed my issues immediately.
He explained each issue where I could understand as a homeowner before proceeding with repairs. I appreciated the education and him sharing knowledge as a professional.
He also completed an assessment on the roof to insure that I had the necessary amount of Freon. He spoke with my warranty company about the repairs.
The price was more than fair. He accepted credit cards onsite so it was great experience.
I will be making an appointment for service in the Fall. Called regarding our air conditioner not working.
He replied promptly even came over to see what the issue was. He left saying he needed a bigger ladder and NEVER came back nor called.
It's been 90s in Chicago which makes it worst. He just disappeared! No call no reply back NOTHING.
Mr Burris is my "go to" when I have plumbing, heating or cooling needs. Unlike other companies that keep you waiting.
Mr Burris is true to his word of when he can be there and what his price is. In addition, he is always teaching how do the simple repairs instead of looking for opportunities to take my money.
Mr. Burris, was familiar with the plumbing with the house before he arrived based on the year it was built.
He came in and knew exactly what to do. There was s leak in the basement and another plumber had come and did unnecessary work costing over $1300 and the previous plumber didn't stop the leak.
Mr Burris came and fixed the leak for less than $150. Thank you Mr.
Burris for fixing the leak and great customer satisfaction and service! MR. BURRIS is a blessing!!! He is wonderful.
He's my #1 Plumber. I have used him for over 10 years.
He LISTENS to his customers. He doesn't assume a women don't understand because she doesn't have a plumber's vocabulary.
He also gives tips to common plumbing issues! He does HVAC to. CALL Burris & Sons.
You won't be sorry!MR. BURRIS is a blessing!!! He is wonderful.

You won't be sorry! Our family two flat had plumbing issues on both floors. When our regular plumber was not available we found reviews for Burris and Sons and decided to give them a try.
This is a black owned business and is located on the southside, which was a plus. Mr.
Burris responded to our call in a timely manner, assessed the situation and made the repairs. Mr.
Burris's work was top notch, and he explained what he was doing and why. We will definitely be using Burris snd Sons again if we have other plumbing issues.
Updating my review as Mr. Burris has been adamantly requesting via messages on yelp and via USPS that I remove my review.
He even went so far as to send me a letter to my home, that I received today,--months later after telling me Yelp would block me due to violation of community standards, which has yet to happen--to explain he holds a handyman's license, "home repair: in accordance with Chicago Municipal code: ARTICLE XXVIII. HOME REPAIR (4-6-280 et seq.) 4-6-280 Home repair., which he attached in part to the letter.
Those docs are also attached. He threatened me with a lawsuit for defamation of character based on his refusal to provide me with his plumber's license information.
Note he is not a contractor but a handyman, which is fine, but one's suspicions are raised when met with the response I was given of "I'm not comfortable providing that information, so find another handyman". Per the municipal code, that information must be available on any quotes and advertisements.
As an informed consumer, I was within my rights to ask if he was indeed licensed and insured as a plumber (plumbing contractor, who would have different requirements, educational requirements, etc.) to avoid wasted time. If he had simply given me the information I requested over the phone, without the smug response from his assistant, I might have never had to leave the review and quietly found a licensed plumber.
But instead, I received the emailed reply, which is attached, from a relative and business colleague of his, that implied that it was none of business to know his licensing and insurance status, and that I should find someone else. Which I did, through Angie's List (who came out timely, charged about $10 more than Mr.
Burris quoted by phone and was indeed licensed and bonded plumber with 30 day guarantee for work performed). I would like Mr.
Burris to stop harassing me about this old review, because clearly he has no idea how the law works and should stick with home repairs and be more forthcoming in his communication, especially when advertising as the municipal code he attached (only in part) states he is required to do. I'd seen his van in the area but never used before this morning.
Called Mr. Burris' answering service this morning.
I left a message. He returned the call within mins.
Discussed the problem with the furnace I'd been having. He arrived at my home within the time frame.
He quickly diagnosed and solved the problem and the furnace worked again! His fee was reasonable and the fact that he came out on a Sunday morning is incredible. He appeared very competent and cordial.
I am happy to have a local HVAC person whose pricing is within reason and whose response time is quick. I strongly recommend Mr.
Burris for your HVAC Services!! Definitely use again. Mr.
Burris is courteous, knowledgeable, funny and very professional. He has done great work in our home over the past couple of years and we have never had to have him come back for a do over.
I called him this morning for an issue with sewer gas in our 1st floor bathroom and by this afternoon, it was all taken care of. He also gives great plumbing tips along the way.
Thank you Burris and Sons! You are always our #1 option. I called Burris & sons around 4:30 in the afternoon about my A/C unit leaking.
I gave him a description of the problem and he gave me an estimated price and said he can come the same day to look at it so I agreed. when he got there he rushed to the basement sure that he knew what was going on and quickly said that the problem was fixed.
I paid the agreed amount of $165 for the whole 3 minutes he was there. and later than night I noticed the the problem was not fixed in fact and was leaking even more.
I called back and he agreed to come back the next day and the next day he came and looked at it for a whole 5 minutes and said that the problem was unfixable and no refund would be giving as the $165 was just for him to identify the problem which he didn't do. the next day I called a different company and they came out and properly diagnosed and fixed the a/c unit by taking the actual time to look at the unit and only charged $75 to come out and fix it and told me that if the first person properly looked at it he would've founded the problem right away.
I chose Burris because of the good ratings but i think if they are not taking the time the look at things that they should consider retiring or hiring new employees. I recently had a sewage backup.
It was awful! First I went to Roto Rooters because they offered a 6 month guarantee. A month later the issue returned.
The came back and rodding my drain again, but the issue came back within a couple of weeks. They (1) refused to come back a third time, and (2) refused to offer me a full refund.
(See my Roto Rooters review for more details.) Called Burris and Sons and Mr. Burris was able to permanently resolve my issue.
Roto Rooters are crooks. I would never used them again.
Thank you Mr. Burris for fixing my issue.
Don't be fooled by the 5 star review like I was. A COMPLETE RIP OFF for what they charge.
Mr. Burris fumbled with my furnace, which he never fixed.
Used some big hair dryer looking tool that he also fumbled with for 20 minutes which finally worked for about 5 seconds. This was a cleaning he says.
Here is the problem. When I called to make an appointment he said his service charge fee was $90 which included all labor and any parts were extra.
So after the 5 second cleaning he claimed occured and looking at a second heater he now says its $135 because there is an extra charge for cleaning and some other vague explanation about a second heater. Very dishonest individual because he lies about his charges then hits you with it later.
STAY AWAY and pay no attention to the 5 star rating. It was not even remotely close to what they stated, I'm guessing he probably wrote it.
ZERO STARS! One final fact.... My mistake for not checking first, but they have an "F" rating with the BBB.
Found Mr. Burris on yelp after reading some of the good reviews.
Mr. Burris is a true pillar of the community: dependable, knowledgeable and affordable.
We appreciate his help and how he fixed our AC unit. We will definitely reach out to Mr.
Burris for any of our maintenance/service needs! We have NOTHING but phenomenal things to say regarding Burris and Sons HVAC And Plumbing. Our air went out on Memorial Day and we called the office at approximately 2:00pm.
Mr. Burris himself showed up at our door at 2:35pm ready to diagnose the problem and find the solution.
He was professional, kind, patient and focused. He thoroughly explained the issue and gave us various options regarding a solution.
Our home was completely cool within 35 minutes of his arrival. We highly recommend Burris and Sons without reservation and will ALWAYS use them for our HVAC needs.
Mr. Burris has helped us with our furnace and AC.
I highly recommend using his company. He is not focused on gauging costs.
He is focused is on giving the best service for the best price for him and the customer. I appreciate him being consistent, timely, and fair.
We called Burris and Sons for help with a clogged toilet, which was backing up into a bath tub. After arriving in a timely and professional fashion, Mr.
Burris quickly assessed the issue, quoted a reasonable price, and articulated an action plan. A few hours later, not only was the issue solved, but Mr.
Burris was able to fix another issue related to the clog. This was after two other plumbers incorrectly assessed the issue and did not solve the problem.
Mr. Burris also provided thoughtful guidance on maintenance to prevent future issues.
All in all, it was a great experience and I would recommend Burris and Sons to anyone. I recently had them come out to fix a leaky shower valve.
Mr. Burris had the issue identified and fixed within minutes and even gave my tenant a lesson on how to properly shut off the valve as to not damage it in the future.
Also took me down to go over a couple things with my boiler. Truly a man that wants to pass his knowledge down to those using his services so we can help ourselves.
Would most definitely use him again. I took one star off because he was about 3 hours outside of the original window that he gave.
Called their (very polite) message service first thing in the morning and the plumber called me back within an hour. Was able to make an appointment for the same day within a few hours.
Had a drain that needed to be snaked out something serious and Mr. Burris and his apprentice quickly resolved the problem and cleaned up afterwards- (thrilled about the last part- have had previous plumbers blast a drain and leave a huge mess.) Burris & Sons will be my first call for any future plumbing needs.
I needed an estimate for services and was greeted by the message center. I then provided my information and received a call back from the plumber.
I missed the call and called back and was routed back to the message center. Hopefully, in the future they change this experience to you only have to give your information once.
All-in-all once I spoke to the plumber who promptly returned my call he was informative and understood my needs of service. We have been in our house for 4 years and have called Mr, Burris for service twice because the previous owner has used him.
Both times he came out promptly, was extremely courteous and competent, and resolved our problems quickly and effectively. He charges were quite reasonable, I just called his company to report a water heater problem and even though it is after 8 pm, he called back minutes after I left a message with the answering service and promised to come out in the morning.
Definitely highly recommended. I called Burris and Sons on a Saturday morning because one of my tenants' water heater went out.
I was out of town and needed someone to handle this. Mr.
Burris answered promptly. This was about the fourth or fifth call I had made that morning...the others went to answering services or voice mail or simply did not answer.
Mr. Burris gave me a price over the phone and said he could be there within the hour to examine the job site.
I hired him on the spot. I called my tenant later that day to check in and she said he was downstairs taking care of things.
He finished the job and all was good. We'd used Burris & Sons once in the past for a boiler issue.
Recently called for another issue- the pilot light was out. Burris conducted a gas leak check and checked to see why the pilot light would not stay lit.
He installed a new pilot light mechanism and charged $354. The following day, the pilot light went out again.
They were notified the following week and we were told they would come back out Saturday. No word and you can't contact him directly so you're held hostage in your home, waiting for them.
He shows up the following day on Sunday. When asked for identification he was unable to produce it (my husband had dealt with him - not me so I'd never met him).
He said he'd be back in a half hour and we haven't heard anything from him since. It is clear that there was no intention of standing behind the work or troubleshoot.
He just wants to string you along and put a bandaid on a gaping wound. Another service company came out to reveal our furnace was completely shot and we would continue to have problem if we didn't just replace it.
We are definitely proponents of supporting of small local businesses but cannot support Burris. Very disappointing.
We have used Mr. Burris several times in the past and I found that his commitment to service is superb.
The one thing I really stands out is that he goes out of his way trying to fix issues rather than simply telling you its time for a new furnace/AC system. Very knowledgeable.
Highly recommended.'''.
