The work lasted for an hour mainly waiting for the water to drain at first. However, I still got charged for one and half hours, even the time past one hour is the technician sitting on the ground figuring out how much to charge me.

The charge on the parts they provided are also much higher than Home Depot. I know that because I bought extra as backups from Home Depot.

I have been very pleased with the plumbing repair work they did in my bathrooms. It was easy to schedule service appointments.

Wouldn't make the sound at all. He still helped me diagnose the potential issues given my impersonation of the sound, and even helped with another slow drain issue while we were waiting for the shower to replicate the sound.

His suggested solution completely solved the squealing shower issue, and all my drains are working properly now as a bonus. I called them up for a Wall plumbing issue in a condo.

The work was done, but the Bill was based on wrong hours charges; I call it plain and simple enethical practise. They charged me for hours when nott in the building.

After reporting to building and their manager, the charges were decreased appropriately. I Say NO TO company with POOR ETHICAL values; will never call them again; will reportthem to Better Business forum of Chicago as well Rich is the best.

We were charged over $1,000 to find a leak and eventually discover that a new faucet was required to stop the leak. This work took over 4 hours and included the Plummer leaving to go and pick up a new faucet.

During that one hour, we were still charged the hourly rate, which turned out to be about $200 per. Subsequent research discovered that this was in the area of twice the going rate for such a job.

There was no communication along the way regarding the possible large costs associated with this project. To be fair, the work was completed and the leak was stopped, but given the overall experience we had, I would recommend at least finding out about a range of cost before having them begin the work.

Basically looked around the basement and outside. Told me the reason of why I had water in my basement was due to the slope of the side of the house and the main line is not pitched.

190 dollars later and didn't bother checking any of the sewerage lines which is why I had them there in the first place. 3 hours after I had a different crew come out which diagnoses the issue within 10 minutes.

Checked the line which was holding water. Proceeded to clean it.

I'm so relieved we found these guys. After using an emergency plumber and 2 well-known/larger businesses that do HVAC/electrical/plumbing who all failed to assess the issue, we finally got an answer on a recurring sewer main backup due to roots in the line from FLS.

They not only cleared the block, but used progressive-sized cutters to fully remove the roots and used the camera to make sure their work was complete. They showed us the entirety of the line with the camera and recommended we rod the line more frequently to prevent any future buildup.

It was such a welcome change from the haste of the other companies we used, who not only try to prey on your lack of knowledge but also don't fully troubleshoot and treat the issue. Jacob and Santino were fantastic and we'll be using them again for future maintenance.

Tom P The sound of dripping water isn't usually cause for alarm....unless it's coming from a light fixture! S*!!! Fettes, Love & Sieben was recommended to me by my folks whose building has used them (as well as the folks personally). I called them up, and within 45 minutes a plumber was at my house (and not some rookie plumber, but a plumber with 40 years experience under his belt).

After a couple of hours, an opened ceiling, and hunting around, the source of the leak was found and stopped (my frikin upstairs neighbors HVAC), which is as much as I could ask for in this situation. I came to find out that this company holds one of the oldest plumbing licenses in the city, and if the plumber on site can't figure something out, the owners of the company are there to back them up (as essentially everyone is a plumber -- with LOTS of experience).

I don't think pricing was out of line. Definitely not cheap, but expected from union plumbers (and for immediate and good service -- fair nuf).

I'm glad to have this name as my go-to from here forward. When I first called FLS for an issue with our disposal, John recommended that we simply reset it and said, "I don't want you to pay for a service call if you don't have to." Cool! Except, we tried that and the thing was still having issues, so we called back and they sent a guy out.

I wish I remembered his name, but he was prompt and professional. When he resolved our situation in about 10 minutes he asked if there was anything else that needed to be looked at - he didn't want to take advantage of us since we'd already paid the service call fee.

We went back and forth about removing the disposal all together and then he fixed the drain stopper in our bathroom. I appreciated his honesty in fixing the disposal and not saying that it needed to be replaced when it didn't.

Actually, the opposite was true, according to my plumber from FLS. Patrick was efficient, helpful, friendly, and honest...telling me that my (circa 1999) faucet would cost more to fix than replace.

Scheduling an appointment was easy...I didn't have an emergency, so I was able to pick a day where a 2-hour window was easily accommodated. And I liked that the plumber called at the beginning of the 2-hour window on the day of my appointment to confirm my address, and to give me an ETA.

OMG!!! What life savers! After a terrible experience with a less experienced and completely unprofessional "plumber " (yeah, right!) They swooped in and saved the day!!! We had a terrible leak that was causing an issue in the ceiling of our living room as well as some slow dranged. The pervious "plumber" did a hack job and didn't fix anything but made things worse.

If you are looking for a company to falsify plumbing documents/reports give them a call. They also billed us for work performed on 5/23/2012 (two hours of work 251 dollars) for rodding out a pipe which took less than ten minutes.

Fantastic experience with this plumbing company. We had our water heater go bad (it was super-old) and contacted FL&S that evening.

They came the very next day and installed the new water heater without issues. During their visit, the plumber noticed that the concrete near the water line (where it comes in from the street) was wet and he was concerned about the possibility that there was leaking beneath the concrete.

A few weeks later, we decided to have work done to repair the water line and indeed it was leaking. We were fortunate that it got repaired when it did.

Along with the repair, we had new horizontal lines installed in the basement. After 22 years in our house, we finally have true water pressure in our shower! Woohoo! After install of the new horizontal lines, there was a "cross over" issue in our bathroom and FL&S came out right away and resolved it for us.

The hard working crew dug a deep (7 ft) pit the 1st day. The second day they built the concrete vault which would house the system and dug the trench to accommodate the electrical line.

By the end of the 2nd day they were finished. Wayne pulled all the permits and gave us the warranty papers for the pump and the check valve.

Wayne inspected our drain pipes into the sewer line and discovered that we had a collapsed sewer line to the main sewer. The break was beyond our property, which meant that the repair cost for the collapsed sewer line would be the financial responsibility of the City of Chicago.

He passed the info on to the City Inspector who agreed it would be at City expense and not our expense. This portion of the project would have cost us thousands of $$ had we been required to foot the bill.

I asked about our catch basin, as I had been told it needed to be cleaned. They could have easily charged me the fee to do so, as a supposedly reliable source told me it needed maintenance.

They checked it out and told me it was all fine. I couldn't be more pleased and definitely recommend them.

They team that came out was super professional, knew what they were doing and explained what they were doing every step of the way. I would not have known to call the city to have them check their part of the sewer.

They did and came back out to meet the city and only charged me for one visit. Because of them, the city agreed that it was their responsibility to repair the sewer, and when I lost the paperwork to call the city to find out when they were coming, Jane called the city and spoke to the head of the department, who called me to make sure to let me know that I was on the schedule.

They came out the day after I called and told me my sump pump didn't work and that a new sump pump would cost $550.00. That was outrageous.

I called a couple of other companies and I was quoted prices between $325.00 and $450.00 for the same size pump (1 1/2 inches). I had another company come out who fixed it the next day for $325.00.

I had to pay $75.00 to Bubba and Wayne for the service call but I was still ahead. I have used Bubba and Wayne several times over the years in different buildings I own to clean catch basins, etc.

I have always been satisfied with their work but I am very disappointed with their fees now. Bubba & Wayne are great if you're in a pinch and can't get a plumber, or don't quite need one.

They've cleared clogs for me and they do it pretty quickly. I'd love to enthusiastically recommend them, but as it is I've had mixed results.

I'm used to dealing with blue collar 'fellas (I grew up in Pennsyvania) and he is no different. He is not rude.

He is just matter of fact. We set up the appointment for the work to be done and he told me the office would email me a contract.

I got the contract within a few hours! On the day, the crew showed up headed by Bubba himself. I talked to Bubba a bit through out the day so I learned a bit about him.

He is 75 (you would never know it) has been plumbing for over 40 years, Wayne is his son and his grandson also works for the company. It turns out that the woman that answers the phone is his wife of 40 years! Now that's a family business.

Bubba's crew was 6 guys who were also all related to each other and at least one of which has been with the company for 30 years. I only have one complaint about the crew.

They said they would be there at 8:00 AM and there were there at 7:30 AM and I had to drag my butt out of bed to let them into the basement. These guys are insane! They dug the giant hole for the pit by hand.

They placed the sod and top soil aside and replaced it when they were done. They even swept the sidewalk and the street were they were loading the truck when they left.

The whole job was finished by 3:00 PM or so. They guarantee their work for 5 years if you have them come out once a year to clean and maintain the pit and the lines at the regular market price.

I couldn't be happier with the work they did, the cleanup afterwards, and their efficiency I would recommend them to anyone. They are a family owed and run business who are hands on.

These guys were fantastic. Our main drain was completely backed up when we called, and within 45 minutes they were there to resolve the situation.

I hired Bubba & Wayne after many verbal recommendations. If you use them, get your work checked! We hired them to clean roots of of the sewer line during a sale inspection period, and when the buyers had the sewer scope redone a few days after Bubba & Wayne came out, they discovered the work had not actually been completed like we were told.

They sent their guys back out to do the job AFTER being confronted about it, but not before Wayne ridiculed me on the phone about how it must be the sewer scope people not understanding what they are seeing on the camera. It was clear they used a 4" blade for a 6" clean out, and we saw TONS of roots coming out the second time they came out....

I tried to explain to Wayne that we have to hire the sewer scope scope guys to come out AGAIN because the job wasn't done correctly the first time and hoped he would either cover it (additional exclusively caused by B&W) or provide a new scope, but he flat out refused, spoke over me, and did not understand my reasoning whatsoever because his guys "came back out and finished the job after all"....I'm an extra $355 in for an additional sewer scope, with no help from Bubba & Wayne. Stopped up sink.

Needed it fixed like now. Called and was told they could be there in a couple of hours and would be about $175.

A couple of hours later, they appeared, diagnosed the problem including the need to replace a few pipes. I figured a couple of days but they said they would go out and puck up what was needed and returned 30 minutes later.

I assumed the price would skyrocket but it came to only $250. In summary...prompt, workmanlike, and honest.

This business specializes in clogged drains and sewers. The kitchens sink drains in my 2-flat were suddenly totally backing up after being slow.

I called and they were able to come within 15 minutes. (We don't live very far from their location, but, of course, they may not be able to come this fast for everyone, but they try.) They used a power rodder and cleared the drains quickly.

We were advised not to pour grease down the drains and once a month use natural ingredients to clear the drains. Rodding once a year is often necessary in addition.

If you are a landlord, you may have to schedule drain cleaning every 6 months for the rental units. I have used Bubba and Wayne sewer service for the at least ten years to clean out my main line once a year for tree roots, and to repair mortar in my catch basin and have been satisfied with the them .

My tree in parkway is doing well, gas line replacement crew used camera in each sewer line last fall showing lots of roots . Have them out twice a year now.

As I explained to wife they are carefully doing cleaning as we have old clay drain line and you can damage it if too aggressive cleaning. They give senior discount.

They did -- but they gave me a VHS tape. Are you KIDDING? I haven't owned a VHS player in over a decade!!! When I queried them about it, they said that's what the city of Chicago requires.

Despite an older review about getting a VHS tape, these guys now give you a USB flash drive video of your sewer line! They came back to install the cleanout as scheduled and even honored the senior discount mentioned on their web site. Will be calling them annually to keep the line clear of tree roots.

I just bought a single family house and based on what he saw in the basement and outside, he suspected that the sewer line was collapsed. They came out a few days later and made a video of the sewer line.

Turns out it was totally damaged by tree roots and needed to be re-built. It's hard for the seller to deny this when you've got a video of the problem! It was a few hundred bucks for the service, but saved me close to $10K.

Everyone I dealt with was competent. These guys are plumbers, they're there to get their hands dirty with stuff people like you and I would NOT want to touch.

It's a tough and not at all glamorous job. I could see why some people might mistake the sometimes curt attitude of working class dudes for "rudeness" but I don't expect the same kind of "insincere pleasantries" from my contractors as I might when shopping at Barney's or eating at a 4-star restaurant.

And to Warren W., most plumbers, electricians, etc., charge a $150 -- or higher minimum site visit. I called around for other sewer camera people and most were $100 or $150 more expensive than Bubba & Wayne.

My only complaint is that I did want to meet the eponymous "Bubba" but he wasn't on the crew that came out. Oh well.

We called Bubba & Wayne because of a friend's glowing recommendation. We were having backup into all the drains in our garden apartment with any extremely heavy rain where our street flooded.

Someone came out immediately, tested all the systems, found we had broken sewer lines, repaired everything, and installed a flood control system which is warrantied for 5 years. Bubba & his sister, and all the workers, did a marvelous job and cleaned up after their work.

Now when there is a heavy rain, all I do is enjoy the sound, and never worry about what's going on in the garden apartment. Thank you, Bubba & Wayne for a job well done.

I had come out to clean a french drain. They cleaned the side drains feeding into the french drain but did extremely poor job in cleaning the french drain.

I expected a professional service but very disappointed. Poor attitude and customer service.

Would not recommend. I had a problem with my main drain (it wasn't draining and sinks were starting to back up) so I called called Bubba and Wayne.

They said that they would have someone out in the next few hours. They actually arrived about 45 minutes after I called them! They tried rodding the drain, but due to the fact that I have an old house with old pipes, the problem was worse than I had originally thought.

They told me that they could come back two days later and replace the entire drain system. They showed up exactly when they said that they would and did the job quickly and cleaned up after the job was done.

I spoke to several people about the price and it seems that the pricing was very competitive as well. Wow.

I want to second the rude comment made earlier. Just called them to ask them what they would charge to unclog my toilet today (Sunday).

She told me $150, which seems pretty high. So I said, and how much to have you come out on Monday? She said "Oh the same price, we don't charge differently for weekends." I said "wow, ok...

As other reviewers have noted, they are short on pleasantries, but they know what they are doing and do their job well. And true, the format of the camera recording was VHS (which we will need to convert for posterity) - but I'm told that this recording and their reputation carries weight with the city, should the city need to make a repair.

Our condo association has used a couple other companies in the past. We have two buildings, 3 stories high, 10 units total.

I am in the garden apartment...so...if the sewer line backs up, we are very aware (our toilets start to bubble, and our tubs start to backfill with water). Consequently, we have started to preventively rod the main line in the spring and in the fall.

In the past, I have woked with other larger companies (like Roto-Rooter), and while the customer service and follow up are what you'd expect from a large company, so is the bureaucracy - I was constantly trying to be cross-sold or up-sold other services (camera the line, jetting, root treatment and other products). We have tried some of them (jetting), but I haven't seen a real difference.

We still need to have the pipes rodded twice a year. At one point, I had also been advised that the line had bellied, and the entire line should be replaced for thousands of dollars (meanwhile, please pay $XXX to camera the line - and you could really benefit from the root killing treatment).

The price for rodding with B&W comes in at about HALF THE COST of Roto-Rooter (and doesn't carry the pesky upsale with it). When I asked B&W about the jetting and other "issues" Roto Rooter had found, B&W said the tp build up and root growth in the was typical of an old building, but they did not see evidence that the line needed to be replaced.

The best course of action would be to have the pipes regularly maintained (e.g. rodding 1-2 times per year).

I appreciate the honesty! OK so I had this company come out and unclog my basement toilet for 250. Then I'm told that they lost a 2" cutter and that more than likely my pipes underneath are on a T in stead of a Y.

So to resolve the issue they would have to go into a closet that is on the opposite side of the bathroom dig up the foundation, replace the line, put in a rod out cap and refill the hole for 1600. Now mind you my brother-in-law is family with this company.

I inform him that I can get the job done at 650. Calls were exchanged and now I can get it done at that price a week ago today 4/1/2013.

Today I receive a call @ 0543 hours and the same guy that came out the week before to do the toilet said he could only do it for 1300. Oh and he tells me it's going to be really rainy today.

So bottom line is not ONLY does this person wait till the last day, @ 0543 hours to call, but informs me the cost went back up. So he couldn't call me the week before to tell me all of this.

Oh that's right you wait till the day of because you know you're losing out on money by doing the job for less and now you know that people's houses might be flooding due to the inclement weather so now your really going to be losing money. So he drops this information in my lap last minute knowing I would reject it which then in turn would allow him to make all the money he wants.

These are the original galvanized steel pipes inside the walls. Greg showed up & reviewed the job site, returning the following week with all the necessary parts.

Initially everything went smoothly, replace the old steel piping with copper, but once the water was turned back on, leaks appeared. This occurred multiple times, due to the age of the old pipes.

However Greg is a true pro & he displayed his experience & expertise on this nightmare plumbing project. Every time a new leak sprung, we'd turn off the water and Greg would stare at the pipes for a few minutes, then say: Okay, here's what we have to due.

What started out as a several hour job, extended into the evening. I can't say enough about Greg's plumbing skills, especially having to tackle this project by himself! I would also add that I've worked with various plumbers at this building over 30+ years and Greg rivals them in spite of his relatively young age.

At the end of the day, I was prepared to get hit with a massive invoice, as overtime was involved, but I was quite surprised with the reasonable bill. I would highly recommend J.T.

I have shopped around and used other plumbing services, but Strenger really is the best. I contacted H.T Strenger after a bad experience with large plumbing company Roto-Rooter concerning removing tree roots from my main sewer line.

I read about Jet Rodding the main sewer and thought this would be a worthwhile expense. Customer service was friendly and told me they would have a plumber with Jet Rodding equipment sent to me about two days after my call.

On the morning of my service call, two plumbers arrived at my door, and informed me that if I had an issue with tree roots that power rodding (using a metal cable) versus jet rodding (using a water powered tool) was the correct solution for me. The job proceeded to take approximately three and a half hours for them to complete which I thought was quite long.

At one point, we saw the plumbing snake coming out of the plumbing vent on the roof (apparently they had taken a wrong turn in the pipes). They bill based on quarter hour of time, so it seemed they were in no hurry to complete the job.

The plumber, Jim, wound up finding that I had an outside clean out installed, which Roto- Rooter had wanted to charge me about $5,000 to install. They dug around outside but were unable to find the access, despite having sewer line locating equipment.

In the end, they wound up partially cleaning my line using the access inside my house. While the plumber was friendly throughout the process, I feel like I was billed an inflated amount of time to complete the work.

The job wound up costing me over $1,000 just for a partial power rodding. However, with their Clutch Club membership (which costs $249 annually), and once I spoke with the plumbers supervisor, I was able to get my bill reduced to just under $900.

The sewer line is flowing again, so the job was completed. When the ground thaws in spring, I will need to find my outside clean out by digging or hiring someone to do that, and paying another plumber to finish cleaning the line of all roots.

They saved me from being ripped off by Roto-Rooter, but at the same time their open ended billing policy (charging per every 15 minutes) left me guessing at how long it would take for them to finish the job and ultimately paying more than I was comfortable paying for the service provided. They came out to give me an estimate on a simple putting in a tub before my contractor started his redo of my bathroom.

The guy who came out was cocky and said he would get back to me with an estimate; never heard from him. I had to call 2 days later and ask for the estimate.

The company stated he was at lunch and was "working on it". Really, how difficult is it to do an estimate for a tub or to get back to a customer same day or the next day.

Guess they don't need the business. Carl from H.T.Strenger fixed an outdoor faucet at our home today.

He was prompt, friendly, and communicated the problem and solution perfectly. The price was also reasonable.

Based on all this, I highly recommend Carl and H.T.Strenger. We have used H.T.

This does not stop me from trying. I recently tried to install a vanity with a nice bowl sink that sits out from the wall a little further than your standard vanity sink.

After three days of wrestling with it and staring at a wall of parts at the hardware store and then rigging up some kind of Dr. Seuss looking ten part contraption, I discovered that since my original sink was installed in 1937, that after all my highly creative plumbing to reach the wall pipe, the wall pipe was welded into a recessed steel fixture that wasn't going anywhere.

Game over. So I called Garrity.

Garrity came in while I was at the office. A friend of mine let him in.

When I came home, not only did my new killer vanity work just fine, there was the the entire highly creative ten part Rube Goldberg plumbing contraption I'd put together laying on the table with the bill. One of the best experiences I have ever had with a small family owned plumbing company. Larry, the owner gave a very fair quote and stuck to it, even though he had to come on three visits.

The first for most of the work and then another day because the new toilet I had purchased had a hairline crack and I scrambled to find a replacement for him to install a few days later. Then, he was very gracious about returning on a third day when I noticed a very slight leak in the toilet water line connection.

MISLEADING......came out to give me an estimate, had emphasized on the phone that they "only" charge $90/hour. I guess this IS cheap for a licensed plumber.

However when he arrived he told me he would work with one other man (this is a simple installation of a faucet) so it would cost a total of $180 an hour for the two of them. I Asked why he would need the other man, he said to hold the faucet on top while he is tightening it on the bottom, and to run out to his truck to get things he finds he needs as the job progresses (remember, this is just installation of a faucet!) Yikes, the assistant sure isn't doing much highly skilled "plumbering" to earn $90/hour !.

I asked if I could hold the faucet for him and he said "no no I'm only insured when my people are working on the job". When he left I watched him go back out to his truck and there was a young kid (maybe 19 or 20?) waiting for him.

My guess is this was his assistant for whom he charges an extra $90/hour. Tom Garrity was a very nice man but I found it misleading to say he charges $90 an hour when he is really charging $180 an hour for the work.

Also, beware: He does not charge for any units of time less than an hour so if he/they work for for 10 minutes over one hour you will be charged for TWO hours (for two men). He gets an extra star for being nice, but this plumber will cost you a lot more than you think.

Wish i read Yelp reviews before hiring. He did the same thing to us that he did to others.

Quoted $95/hr and showed up with another person to fix a bathroom leak. The other guy stood around while garrity worked.

After 20 minutes of only garrity working, we stepped out and returned 25 minutes later and he was done. He was there a total of 45 minutes, it was a simple one man job, we knew this going in.

He said the bill was $420. When we complained he said a third guy mysteriously appeared, worked, and left because we never saw him, and that 3 guys worked to solve the problem and they all need to be paid.

He further said "we weren't there the entire time and couldn't prove anything." DO NOT USE! The worst experience we have ever had! He will do everything he can to take your money. Read these reviews! Tom will gouge you on the price.

He will hand you a bill for $3k easily after just 2 hours of work without shame.. (2 faucets replaced, I provided the faucets, and a new cold knob on a shower for $3,000?!) Recent work has been shoddy or half done and then overpriced for the quality.

He's a nice guy, sure he will smile and be just as sweet as he can be, while he charges you triple the price for the work. There are plenty of other plumbers willing to do good work for less.

It has now been a month waiting and they apparently just don't value our business because they have completely ghosted us. I've used All Suburban for my sump pump, ejector pump and just recently they repaired a broken sewer line.

All 3 have been emergency situations and they've been extremely responsive, friendly and professional. They're my go to for plumbing and highly recommend.

Kevin and Ron are truly amazing professionals. They were the only company to actually go to the property to evaluate the situation for 2 different homes recently.

Had a sewer back up into the laundry room. Called All Suburban...they had a man out first thing in the morning who discovered that my main sewer line just leaving the house had collapsed causing the back up...a routine rodding became an underground dig.
