So, needless to say, I needed a new toilet fast, as I only have one bathroom. I hopped on Yelp and searched for plumbers and saw that this one was open 24/7, so I called at 9pm.
It's not that I was looking for 24/7 service, but I just wanted to get the ball rolling, so I could take care of this first thing the next morning. I was surprised someone answered that wasn't from an answering service, and like that, the ball was moving! I told him I needed a new 14-in rough-in toilet.
That's a non-standard size, so I was worried about getting something in a timely manner and if I needed to special order a toilet. He said he would call around to some suppliers in the morning and try to find me a new toilet.
The next morning, my plumber located a toilet (believe me, 14-in is rare, weird and annoying to find!), ordered it, picked it up and installed it by 4pm. My exploded toilet was replaced within 24 hours!!! Also, I felt the quote was very reasonable for locating, ordering, delivery and installing a new toilet.
What they saved me in time and headaches made it worth every penny. I thoroughly recommend Your Helpful Plumber, because they lived up to their name 100%.
Our toilet was clogged and it was not flushing well. I called Your Helpful Plumber.
Tony came to rod it, and he also replaced the valve and the flapper. We got charged for the flapper and the valve too but a little bit of water was still coming out, and it was still partially clogged.
He told me that it was normal while he was putting a lot of toilet paper in the toilet to demonstrate that the toilet was not clogged and that the toilet paper would disintegrate. I told him that as he can see it was still clogged and not so much water was coming out when you flush the toilet.
I called a different company, and they rodded the toilet. The clog was fixed.
We never had a toilet clog again for many, many years since the other company fixed it. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! My downstairs neighbor was seeing some leaks in his ceiling that we thought might be coming from somewhere in our apartment.
So I called Your Helpful Plumber to have someone come out for an inspection. On the phone, they were very helpful and friendly.
They said they'd be able to get someone out the next day and that we wouldn't be charged for the inspection, only for any work that came after the inspection. The next day, the plumber came by to take a look, and he concluded that the leak was a result of recent heavy rains getting in through cracks in the exterior brick wall, not a plumbing issue.
So I thought, great, we're all set then. BUT, then he charged me $250 for the inspection despite having told me that the inspection would be free.
Now, 2 weeks later, our neighbor is still seeing leaks despite there having been no rain at all recently. So I tried to contact the company to have them send someone back out.
But, every time I call, it goes straight to voicemail. I have left messages and sent several texts (I believe the number listed is the owner's cell, as he had texted me previously about scheduling the first appt) but have not heard anything from them.
I texted the actual plumber who had come out for the inspection as well, and he said that they'd be happy to come back out for a second look at no charge, but that I'd have to contact the owner for scheduling. Now after 3 days of trying to contact them, our hardwood floors outside of the bathroom are buckling very severely, so I am pretty certain there is some kind of leaky pipe under there that needs to be addressed immediately, but I have still not been able to get a hold of them.
I ended up having to schedule a different plumber, and now I'm on the line for an additional $150 after this company basically robbed me of $250 for not doing any actual work and then disappearing. Do yourself a favor and find a different plumber, these guys are super shady.
Used them in 2015 to fix something for our tub. Wrote a check for the service.
A week later, our checking account info was stolen. How do I know it was them? We had written exactly one check from that account - to Your "Helpful" Plumber.
For what it's worth, their work was shoddy as well. A few months later we had another plumber in to do another project.
He ended up tearing out everything they had done and replaced it for us at cost because he felt bad that a fellow plumber had done such a shitty job. Just updating to say that the owner fired the plumber who came to our place and made such a scene.
I am hopeful that the rest of the business is much more polite and honest. And, the second time around everything seemed to stay working.
My buildings are old and I have a need of repairs all the time, my plumbers were out of town and my friend had used your helpful plumber and told me to give them a try she was very happy with all they had done for her over thw years, so I called and talked to Terry the owner he truly was helpfull Tim and his son came out right a way to fix leaks under kitchen sink.. Very prompt and efficient.

The "plumber," which I use this term loosely due to the fact that he knew as much about plumbing as my dog, arrives at my business awkwardly with his mother? Also, wearing a t-shirt that said "F*CK Obama". First impression was quite unsettling but the water heater needed fixing so I lead them to the problem.
After about 5 minutes of poking and prodding, water begins to violently shoot out of a pipe as if to put a fire out! Panic ensues. I ask him what is happening and his dumbfounded response is " I don't know! Something tricked me!" ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!?!?? Water continued to rush out of the wall quickly ringing in a tab of over $65,000 worth of damage!!!!! The water ran through the floor into our basement office ruining computers, washer/dryer, and professional camera equipment to name a few things that are now dead.
Our tech was confused and quickly left once the damage was done and now, convenietly, no one can get ahold of anyone at the company. These guys are scam artists and completely bogus.
I repeat...DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! Terry (and his mother) showed up at my work to fix a simple hot water issue. Within a few minutes, water was shooting out everywhere in the back room.
Our entire basement was flooded which is where our office is located causing thousands of dollars worth of damages. Computers, printers, tools, many other supplies all covered in a few inches of water.
Terry had nothing to say or a way to fix it. Essentially, it was "not his fault".

I had a leak under my bathroom sink, in a home I have just recently bought, and they were able to fix it with ease. Super friendly guys who knew exactly what they were doing and were very quick! They checked out some other things in the home I had questions about too just to be friendly.

They came the first time we called and unclogged a clogged toilet in about 15 minutes. I was a little leery that it was finished so quick and they assured me it came with 90 day guarantee.
A week or two later I was right - and the toilet clogged up again- I called back and they promptly came out and after a bit more work the plumber unclogged it again - this time dislodging the detritus that was clogging the toilet. All you want is honest good work- and these guys follow through! No one likes looking for a plumber - it's hard to know if you've got someone you can trust, hard to get a return call...
all kinds of things can go wrong. So - I was VERY pleased to find Terry.
I had 2 small repairs that I needed estimates on, and another "maybe" thing to work on. I found Terry on Yelp - he was very friendly and up front about everything on the phone.
And faster than I could handle - I called with the expectation that he might be free in a week, and he offered to come by that day - even though I told him these were not emergency repairs. We coordinated timing of his home visit via text (always appreciated).
He worked around my schedule, and was precisely on time. Friendly, personable, professional, neatly dressed.
I showed him the one thing that I thought needed repair. He examined it, and was able to make an adjustment in a few minutes that resolved the problem completely.
I showed him the other 2 repairs, and he gave me assessments that I could understand, and what seemed to be very fair cost estimates right there on the spot. And he told me directly that these other repairs were totally optional - based on the cost to repair and on my usage, I would do just fine without doing anything at all.
So - beyond professionalism, what impressed me most was the fact that Terry was not out to make a buck on repairs. He could have easily "sold" me on doing those optional repairs, and charged me for the quick fix he did, but he didn't.
He wanted to see me satisfied, wanted me to understand what was involved. In short, wanted to make sure that "all of those things that could go wrong" went right - way beyond expectations.

Had water heater installed by them few months ago on my 2nd floor unit. The job was not done properly and water leaked to 1st floor ceiling, floor and to finished basement.
I texted them and the guy said he would come the next day but no call, no show. I'm paying another contractor to fix their work that was not done properly.
They're nice enough guys but I am super disappointed and now basically it's costing me double. I do not recommend.
UPDATE: shortly after leaving a review, I received s phone call from Terry apologizing and offering to make amends. I will give him the benefit of the doubt for now and update the review to 5 stars.

TOILET was leaking on a Friday night around 9:30 p.m......called Terry and he got a plumber out here the same night ...did a wonderful job and was a good price ....BTW this was Memorial Day weekend ....very lucky to have found this service !!! This company is wonderful! They came out the same day to fix my shower drain and toilet.
They called when they were on their way and showed up a few minutes early. The owner is so nice and helpful as the company name implies.
He's the type of guy you want sit and have a beer with!! The only slightly negative I have to mention is the cost. They rodded out my shower drain and removed the toilet clog in 20 minutes and it cost me $300! Yikes! After they left, I found out that plumbers are crazy expensive no matter who you call.
Similar work would've cost me $250-$400 with any other company, so their prices are, in fact, reasonable. Just be prepared! Overall, great reliable service.

I have these guys in my phone now as "plumber Terry" and won't hesitate to call them again! I got these guys to install a kitchen faucet 6 months ago and recently it started to leak and get loose. I called to inform them and ask if they could return and fix it; they agreed and we set a time for a Saturday morning.
I texted them on the morning of the appointment to make sure they were coming but they didn't respond and ultimately they never showed up at my house at all, despite me calling them a few times. So (1) poor workmanship to begin with and (2) not communicative and (3) not showing up at all.
The last is the worst for me: making time out of my weekend for these clowns not to show... Plumbers are expensive at the best of times so deal with one you trust and respect - not these guys.

I called Choice Home Warranty at 4pm to let them know that I needed another plumbing company to come to my home and to cancel the request for Your Helpful Plumber. I went to Home Depot and purchased sand bags to put around my garage in case the rainfall tonight is heavy.
NEVER rely on this company, as they are totally unresponsive. I called Terry on a Saturday to clear a clog in the tub drain.
He and his associate were out within 30 minutes and had the clog cleared in about 10 minutes time. He was fast, got the job done right, and even offered a no charge clearing for any further clogging issues on the same drain within 6 months.
If you need a quick fix, don't hesitate to call. Terry was great! Called him early one morning -- about 7am -- and he made it out to fix my toilet at noon.

I've used Terry and 'Your helpful plumber (YHP)' in the past. He was fine, for ME.
Actually, I though he was great. THEN my 90 year old aunt (she has her wits about her, amazingly) needed a plumber...so I raved about YHP.
I called Terry for her, but this time Terry didn't show up...his brother did. Terry's brother did the first part of the job...it went fine.
Then, the second part of the job was to change out a kitchen faucet. Well, Terry's brother told my aunt he didn't have the part and he'd come back another day...BUT he still charged this 90 year old woman! She's 90 and counts on me, so she just paid him.
I called Terry and he did refund the money. Last...I've wanted a couple of estimates in the past two years, as I own an apartment building: the first one was to move my water hose to the other side of the building and the second was (yesterday) for a 'backed up' bathtub.
Terry quoted "Well over $1,000 for the hose" and "$225.00 - $275.00 for the tub." I called and USED Windy City Rooter for the water hose $650.00 and $149.00 for the tub. I'm sticking with Windy City Rooter.

When I called to schedule a plumber, he asked me where the sink was leaking, after telling him where the leak was, he told me that I could easily fix it myself with his instruction. It's fixed! What an amazing thing to do, thank you! Atrocious.
Our project involved installing a new gas line into our third floor unit, and was described as simple plumbing by his first plumber who did a walk through, and measured the job out in early April. I phoned them, and before the end of the day, I was talking with and walking with Steve, and he spent a good hour here promising me he was excited to get the job done, and this was his sort of work which he took pride in doing.
He wanted an assistant to help on some of it, to get the job out of the way quicker and basically to hold a ladder. I routinely climb around on ladders for work, and get that.
Great. We go to make our down payment to get the job going.
I am told they cannot process credit cards, and will not be able to for a week. We finally relinquish to get things going and get a date back in April to finish.
I forget why Steve could not actually finish. But he tried to show up.
Twice. The second time, It was going to be Terry, and him doing it.
Day of happens, and I have a text from Steve asking if I had heard from Terry. Two no shows, day of.
I have also now set a day aside from my work to be there to give them access to the parts of the building they need open. I also find out this was Steve's last job with Terry Bateman, and his company, and I would now need a new plumber to come in to finish this.
They also no show on me, and I have to reschedule, and they also no show on my partner while I am out of town. After she took a personal day.
They have measured the job three times now, and have not shown up and blown off a promised eta to work four times. Again.
They cannot finish the job when it comes to being assigned to do it. Even after over the several site visits, he and the people he was contracting out to do this job they insisted it would not be a problem.
Two holes. A few corners to turn.
A ladder to climb for some length to drop, and it would take them about a day and change to finish. Two months later.
Terry was now proposing to return our deposit. We agree this is the best way to end our time.
HE DID NOT ACTUALLY SEND IT. He lied.
Rather than dishing about what a terrible I worked it out that Terry would finish this job personally, and that we would go on our way with my not having to divulge in what a terrible person to work with he actually is where the rubber meets the road in finishing up. We worked out what times would work, and what was going on.
Terry also promised me he would personally show up on time; June 13th, 2017 to finish this job he accepted back in April, and has a down payment to finish and he is now over two hours late, and he is not answering his texts, nor his phone. I recommend you avoiding Your Helpful Plumber like a disease.
These guys are helpful, and have fair prices. I didn't end up getting the work done by them but they were very gracious and professional.
I've now used Your Helpful Plumber twice for work at a condo I own in Chicago. The first time, about 6 months ago, they resolved an emergency gas leak situation resulting from the incompetence of another plumber who attempted to install a new water heater (I shut of the gas to the water heater, of course).
Terry was able to send someone out within an hour late in the evening, who fixed the gas leak, and resolved an issue with the electronic ignitor on the water heater. Next, just this weekend, I could not restart the pilot on the same water heater (after my wife had turned off the gas valve for about two weeks for some unknown reason).
Terry talked me through the starting procedure over the phone to try to save me a trip. When that did not work, he had someone out within two hours (Saturday afternoon).
After it only took them a few minutes to light the pilot, they rodded my slow-draining bathtubs at no extra cost. I'm not sure Your Helpful Plumber is the cheapest option available (although admittedly I'm not a frequent user of plumbing services), but I believe they will save me money in the long run.

Your Helpful Plumber installed our sump pump improperly, our basement flooded causing 5k of damage, and then they did not honor the parts and labor warranty for their work.
They invoiced us for the repair job on the sump pump they installed improperly and offered nothing to help with remediation. We couldn't be happier! Called at 10 am (talked to a someone who trouble shot with me, which was nice and they gave me a quote) they were able to come by noon.

Steve was sent by Terry and he replaced the pump and when he was done-- I noticed leak from the pipe while vacuuming, called him back (responded quickly), and fixed the pipe issue.

While I had them here, I wanted to show them a leak between my unit and the unit below me. I removed the panel on my jacuzzi tub and stuck my hand through an opening between floors to get a video of the leak.
THEN I DROPPED MY PHONE. My phone was lost between 2 floors of my building below my tub and we couldn't see it.
These guys worked tirelessly in an attempt to rescue it. They even had to saw out a big chunk of the subfloor by the pipes.
They used gorilla tape, their own cell phone video feature, and various kitchen utensils until.... 45 minutes later, they brought my phone up from the abyss.
(Maybe they'll upload the video so you can see the rescue attempt firsthand.) And they didn't charge me. And when I gave them a tip, they didn't want it.

There was a leak in one of the showers, which had seeped into the ceiling of my office, and the other shower had no water pressure. The plumber arrived within 90 minutes of my call (as promised), quickly identified the problems with both showers, fixed the water pressure issue within an hour.

On a recent Saturday we had the unpleasant surprise of a fair amount of water in our basement bedroom. We thought we figured out that the source of the water was a backed up sump pump.
Called Your Helpful Plumber and Terry answered on the first ring. He was professional on the phone and provided an estimate for various repairs associated with the sump pump.
Terry was able to be on site within 30 minutes and quickly gave us the bad news that the issue was not a sump pump but rather a more complicated (and serious) sewage ejector pump. Terry quickly took apart the system to figure out if the pump needed to be replaced or just repaired.
I appreciated their efforts to keep a dirty job as clean as possible by spreading a tarp out on their work area. Unfortunately, the pump could not be repaired and had to be replaced - but I also appreciated Terry allowing me to see for myself that the pump needed to be replaced.
Terry was also very professional about providing us with an estimate for the work before he took the whole system apart. I thought the estimate was a fair price - although I did not do any comparison shopping and the work certainly had to be done.
Terry quickly went to buy the replacement pump and then returned and completed the task. Terry even went through the effort of cleaning the area thoroughly when the job was finished.
After the work was done, Terry also agreed to give me a discount from Yelp that I had not asked about - which was much appreciated as the repair was not inexpensive (although, again, I think the price was fair). Terry provides a four year guarantee on parts and labor and even called the next day to confirm that the system was still functioning correctly.
Great service all around. The only minor blemish I'd give them is that they tracked a bit of dirt onto our carpet - but I don't think you can expect anyone to be perfect, especially with all the snow and ice outside and the need to perform such a dirty job.
I found this company on Yelp and I'm very glad I did! I'm a new homeowner and have not needed much work done to date. My toilet had not been flushing and then my bathroom sink had an extremely slow drain.

My upstairs neighbor was not home, but we had access to his unit. I went up Sunday morning and couldn't see signs of a problem.
Sunday morning we called the helpful plumber to come assess the situation. Based on my past experience I was expecting to need to cut the ceiling open, assuming it was an issue with the plumbing in between floor.
When the plumber arrived (on Sunday at the time they told us) he investigate several possibility causes of the leak without making any holes. On a hunch(there was no visible water) we pulled out the fridge and found the source of the problem.
He quickly made the repair and took care of a couple other minor maintenance issue we discovered along the way. We were thrilled to not have to cut the ceiling and need drywall repairs.
