After a horrible experience with another contractor, and a big name plumber unable to come inside of a week and a half, Apex was able to show up within a few days, quickly diagnose the problem, and form a plan of action with a reasonable estimate. This time, the bathroom sink was hopelessly clogged with organic sludge. I was happy to see Jon arrive because he has great experience with old buildings and their no-two-are-exactly-alike plumbing systems.

He methodically assessed the problem before coming back with the right equipment. Then he went to work, explaining what he was doing and why.

From filling and then siphoning the sink, he explained how he could tell where the clog was. Once he rodded the pipe, he repeatedly tested the sink to make sure it drained well, even listening to the pipe for a sound that indicated it was clear all the way to the connecting stack.

It's a trick he teaches younger plumbers. Throughout, Jon wiped up any drips from his small wet vac and the detached under-sink pipes.

We had a reoccurring issue with sewage leaking from our drain stack onto the sidewalk near our house. Previously, two different plumbers worked on the problem--the first at a very hefty sum.

Jeff of Apex, came out to give us estimate. After thoroughly inspecting the problem, answering my numerous questions and giving me a logical explanation of the problem--I decided Jeff was the guy for the job! He located the root of the problem to a drain pipe in the basement.

He rodded it and replaced its outdated seal. I really must highlight my appreciation for Jeff's patience in answering my questions, and educating me about the problem while maintaining his professionalism.

If necessary, I'll definitely use Apex again! We had a blocked pipe inside our house that prevented our sump pump from ejecting water to the sewer. It was a tricky situation given that the check valve had broken and debris had blocked the pipe.

They were very busy and said they might not be able to make it out that day, but then moved things around to fit us in because it was an emergency! I have referred several neighbors and friends to them over the past few years. They typically do quality work.

However, I have been extremely disappointed (and left hanging) now that I've encountered a situation with First Chicago Plumbing that needs correction. I had to have work done in my guest shower.

On the first appointment, a part was installed. After the plumber left, I realized that my shower trim had been left in a manner that it was not flush with the wall, which would have resulted in water getting behind the tile.

A second appointment was made for that the be adjusted. Unfortunately, about two weeks later, the part that had initially been installed failed.

It was determined that the part was likely defective. Therefore, a third appointment had to be scheduled to replace the defective part.

I very much appreciated that they came out and made it right, as they should have. However, immediately following the last appointment, I realized that during the replacement work, my shower valve was somehow adjusted so that the hot water does not open fully.

The lever no longer turns as far as it did previously. The result is that I can get only water, not hot.

I fully understand that First Chicago would rather not come to my home again. But these issues are no fault of mine.

I expect the work to be completed correctly so that everything is repaired and in working order. I have called numerous times, left messages, sent texts and an email.

I was initially promised a return call. When that didn't happen, I kept calling until I spoke with someone.

I was accused of being "angry." My problem was dismissed as something they already fixed. I have tried to explain in several ways that the issue with the hot water is new and did not occur until the appointment when they replaced the defective part that they had installed.

I do not appreciate being hung up on and treated as if I am being unreasonable. If all had been done properly, I would not be calling about this.

It has been weeks since this issue was raised to the attention of First Chicago. Believe me, this is a huge drain on my time too, and I cannot take a hot shower.

I had a problem with a connection to my dishwasher. I took photos and was told that my connection was not to code .

I needed to correct this. They brought two disposals for me select based on my need.

The plumbing needed reconfiguring . It was costly but I had no estimates from other sources so I can not evaluate the costs.

The workmen were neat friendly and did the job. They kept me in the loop.

I purchased an older home in 2023, and I needed to have the plumbing throughout the home updated, the water heater updated, a whole house filter installed, etc. - a lot of work! I had previously used First Chicago Plumbing in my previous home to update an old school shower valve, so they were my first call.

I did get a second estimate, and it was comparable in price, but the sales rep was high-pressure, trying to get me to agree to do the work right away, which I didn't like. Eugene is much more laid back, but very detail-oriented.

Vasile was the lead plumber who completed the work, and he and his partner did beautiful work. To be fair, the job site wasn't always left in the condition I would've preferred, but where it mattered (the plumbing itself), everything was/is great.

First of all, let me say that the technicians themselves are wonderful!!! Justin and Vasile did a great job completing the jobs requested. However, the price points from this company are beyond outrageous.

Go elsewhere for service if you don't want to be charged at crazy rates. Just to be transparent, I needed a faucet cartridge replaced and my bathroom drain snaked.

The faucet cartridge itself cost less than $20 (I looked it up) and I was charged $100 for the part. This did NOT include the cost of labor which was an additional cost (and I'm ok with that).

Do yourself a favor and shop around. I have used other companies that charge LESS THAN HALF of what they charged me to clear the line from my tub to my ejector pump and that was without removing my toilet.

The excuse is always about how much the use of the tools costs, but I call BS. Customers should not have to pay to snake a drain at 2x-3x the normal price point of other companies.

Basically, only use them if you want to overspend on services. Save your coins people! *update based on company response: I went to the faucet shop myself and the part was $17 so that's not true.

But glad you think that $85 is a minimal mark up! And they were upfront about the cost to pull off the toilet and use a large machine which was the highest rate provided. The lower rates shared were given if a smaller machine was used (which was the case) and if they didn't need to remove the toilet (which they didn't).

After two other companies gave us estimates in excess of $50K to remedy a sewer pipe blockage, Eugene came in with alternative solutions that did not require us to dig out our entire finished basement, and was even able to get the city of Chicago involved, something no other company offered.

I contacted First Chicago Plumbing to fix a leaking toilet. Office staff were pleasant over the phone, and they provided an estimate over email with a couple pictures of the toilet and description of the leak.

The plumber who came out was pleasant and professional. He realized the toilet wasn't secured properly to the floor (something I knew, but forgot to ask about initially), and demonstrated why that was the case (the flange was basically rusted to pieces).

He needed to run out to as he didn't have the correct replacement part, but I greatly appreciated that compared to forcing me to schedule another service call. Overall, fixed the leak, fixed another problem I forgot to initially mention, and cleaned up well.

We had a great experience with First Chicago. We were having a pest problem with our sump and ejector pumps, but, being new homeowners, really had no idea what to do.

I didn't even know what an ejector pump was! First Chicago was informative and responsive. I particularly appreciate their ability to answer questions over email, if it's difficult to talk on the phone during the day.

After rejecting three other plumbing contractors who were either too expensive or too flaky, we hired First Chicago to replace all of the steel water pipes with copper in our 1904 house and install a new water heater.

I reached out with an immediate need, our water heater had decided to go out on one of the coldest days in chicago. The entire group of people was the most friendly and accommodating to work with.

They had someone out within the same day, had the quote for the new unit within minutes of the site visit, and the new unit was installed within 48 hours. There were several follow ups from them after the installation making sure everything was working properly which was awesome! Everything was explained throughout the work that was being done.

They also tested out our backup and showed me that it had died. We liked them so much that we had them come back recently to install a new backup sump pump system.

Again, they were great to work with this time as well (shout out to Martin for the great work, and taking the time to walk me through everything.) We hired another company to come install new plumbing to hook up our washing machine and they scheduled and then ghosted twice in one week.

My situation changed from a leaky faucet to a failed sump pump. AP Construction (APC) contacted me and came out the next morning.

After a quick tour of the house, they quoted me a price. The got the parts and began the repairs, and in no time things were looking good.

Then APC found an additional problem and made arrangements for a referral and those men came out shortly and they then solved that problem (unknown to me) as well. Through all the ups and downs, things were explained to me and I was asked to participate in the process - they explained everything and why they were recommending things.

I found APC to be very professional, courteous and respectful to my needs and would encourage that you ask them to look at your plumbing problem and offer their advice - a second opinion that might save you some aggravation. Their fee was reasonable, the workmanship was top notch and I not be looking for another plumber as they are now my first call...

We had a persistent sewer gas issue in our house for a long period over the winter. It was an awful experience that leaked raw sewer smells into the basement, which was subsequently vented into the whole house through the central air system.

We were unable to escape outside due to covid and cold, and it led to a miserable wintertime. I would not wish that on anybody.

We had multiple other companies out to try and address the issue, and nobody seemed to offer much help. We had Eugene and his team out many times to try and address the root cause, and found a whole host of issues, probably caused by the interior drain tile installation (Reliable Basement).

Eugene and team were professional, on-time, patient, and dogged about trying to find the root case. We ultimately found issues with cracked pipes along the drain tile system, a crack in the floor drain, as well as a collapsed pipe on the city side.

All of which was difficult to diagnose due to our house being quite old. I cannot speak highly enough about First Chicago Plumbing, and would never hesitate to get their assistance.

I felt compelled to write a review to warn other consumers about this business so that others didn't have the same experience as mine. First off let me be clear that I did NOT utilize FCP's services.

I called for an estimate to get a new outdoor spigot installed. I'd already looked at some YouTube videos so I knew roughly the difficulty level (it takes about 15-20 min).

I also researched the avg prices in my area ($200 for new frost-proof spigot). Well the customer service rep who took my call quoted me $1100 (almost 4x the avg cost)!!! I was shocked and told her I'd need to think about it.

I then called 2 other plumbers and ended up going with E.Z. plumbing for a price of $175 plus materials (about $210 total).

Eliezer came over 2 days later and voila: I have a new spigot! If you're considering FCP I strongly encourage you to shop around first bc their pricing borders on price-gouging. We had new countertops installed, and a new sink along with it, and I was looking for a plumber to come in behind them to get our faucet (installed) and reconnected.

We also had a fixture we wanted changed out in the bathroom. These guys were able to come out that same day and do everything I needed done.

They couldn't test the bathroom fixture and warned me about the leak that absolutely occurred because of the drain size. I texted them, they came back out now that they could run the water, and got me all fixed up (again).

I really hope I'm not a regular customer, but I know I have great plumbers if I do. Excellent work.

They installed tankless water heater in my house instead of regular tank. The whole process from getting a quote to the finished installation was very smooth.

Eugene guided me through the whole process. Then they even sent me some information on how to get rebates on my tax return for installing a tankless water heater which was very helpful.

The quote I got completely online, based on pictures and answering a few questions. The final price I paid matched the quote provided.

Got a quote from yelp to replace a water heater in a rental unit. Eugene was easy to communicate with and provided a turnkey experience at a fair price.

Very professional service! Wasted my time and money and didn't solve the problem. Frankly I expected top service for the prices they charge ($250 just for diagnosis).

They looked at my water heater and quickly concluded that I needed a new pilot assembly. They made me wait a few days because they didn't have the part, and wanted an additional $285 to replace a $35 part.

I didn't have a good feeling about the training/experience of these plumbers and I was proven right. The part they replaced wasn't even the problem.

They called the manufacturer and were told that it might be the gas valve. All along they did not know how to diagnose the problem by themselves.

They relied on the manufacturer for advice both times. Then they offered me to replace the whole unit for $1,680 but at this point I was not interested on their overpriced and unreliable service.

In the end I did decide to replace the water heater but I hired a different company who did it for a much more reasonable $300 plus the cost of the water heater. We've used First Chicago Plumbing a few times and have always had a great experience.

Their customer service is quick, responsive and friendly. We had a blocked drainage line backing up in our basement.

They moved things around to come out the same day we called and their pricing was fair. They aren't the cheapest but we've used other services and you get what you pay for.

I had Eugene come out an install an ice line for my fridge. I had incorrectly informed the team when they were quoting the job that the valve needed to connect the line was there.

When Eugene came out he saw that he needed to go out a buy the piece I needed to get the job done correctly. He worked with integrity and I wasn't charged extra for his time buying the necessary part due my error.

This review is based on numerous plumbing services costing well over a thousand dollars provided on a single day. Two events occurred that never should have happened.

The details: About a week before the work date, the lead plumber (?owner) Eugene, advised me that the main water supply in the house will have to be turned off for some of the various jobs, and he warned that when the water is turned on again it is likely to be discolored and have some sediment. A fair and thoughtful warning.

Early in the work day I reminded him of his warning and I suggested that installation of two new replacement kitchen faucets be done last, after the water main had been turned on again and after the system was flushed. Eugene assured me that there would be no problem.

A few hours later, Eugene told me that he had installed the first kitchen faucet but it was useless because it was clogged by sediment. Yes, just incredible.

Eugene also installed a new single handle shower faucet. About a day later, I contacted him and complained that there is just a little warm water coming from the shower while before his repair there was an excellent flow of hot water.

He answered that it sounds like the faucet got clogged due to rust and sediments from the old plumbing. He recommended to flush the water heater or replace it if it's over 10-12 y.o.

but that he'd have to charge me his minimum fee of $150 as he's not responsible for any existing plumbing conditions. I explained that this is not an issue of diminished flow, but rather, the shower handle only turns 90 degrees, from 3 o'clock back to 12 o'clock, and it is supposed to turn 120 degrees.

He answered that the shower handle is supposed to be turning from 12-3 "according to the shower faucet model you got..." I then sent him the installation pdf documenting that the handle was supposed to turn 120 degrees, that the amount of rotation of the handle is governed by a "rotational limit stop" that is adjustable, and a link to a YouTube video showing how this is done. (The rotational limit stop (also known as rotational stop limit) is a safety feature in all modern shower faucets to prevent scalding.

Recently we needed to replace washers in powder room bathroom. When you call to leave a message, 1st question is always are you a customer presently When plumber came he did not have the part.

part was ordered and 2 weeks later was installed. When I received invoice there was a charge for initial visit and subsequent installation visit.

It cost over $300 to replace washer. When I questioned the charge, I was told I got a break, and the 'old poor me about hard it is staying in business.' The plumber was in my home for less than half an hour-not my fault he did not have part and had to return.

Very disappointed and very expensive I found a leak in my basement and tracked it down to the kitchen sink. I reached out to Reeg for a repair.

I spoke with Chris (who is VERY friendly). After sending a photo, he booked for the next day as the job should only take an hour or two.

I was stoked to get it resolved. Bode was assigned and scheduled to arrive between 10-12am.

He was running late (it happens) and Reeg called to let me know. No worries! Bode is super friendly also.

After looking at the issue in person he spotted another BIGGER leak... CRAP (literally).

At this point I am doing dishes in the powder room sink and dumping a bucket catching leak water several times a day to prevent a damaging basement flood. I guess I don't understand why a 2 hour repair could be performed next day but an ESTIMATE on a "big job" (wouldn't they want the work?) takes TWO FREAKING WEEKS! If there had been a temporary solution offered I might have waited.

It just isn't reasonable to not have a functioning kitchen sink for 3 weeks or longer. They are nice folks but I had to go elsewhere.

I wanted to hire Reeg. Maybe additional time could be allotted for estimates? ? Or someone in addition to the owner could be empowered to perform estimates? I would try them again for other plumbing projects if it wasn't an urgent issue.

Had a problem with my tankless toilet not flushing properly. Reeg plumber fixed by replacing a faulty valve.

It was a small job and finished pretty quickly. The reason for the 5 star review is that all the communication was excellent, the plumber was polite and on-time and overall a positive experience.

Can't say enough about Reeg, they certainly get my business and recommendation. I've used this service twice and each time was happy! The estimate they gave me to root my sink was lower than a competitor for the first visit.

They handle their scheduling and invoicing via email and text messaging. I've had them out for several jobs over the year and they're always efficient and never try to up charge or talk you into work you do not need Our kitchen sinks needed rodding and the backup was spilling into the dishwasher.

Chris was able to come the next day and finished so quickly that he was able to rod the bathroom sink and tub as well. The job was done well and swiftly, and the price was competitive.

We were more than happy to support a fourth generation run local family business, and before coming out, Chris Reeg spent time on the phone with me to give us tips on maintaining our drains, which was much appreciated! I attempted to hire Reeg and they literally blew me off. They sent me a one sentence email that said "we are 6-7 weeks out".

I replied with one sentence saying that's no excuse for such a poor response email. The owner then replied "then find another plumber, you douche".

I'd recommend to anyone who reads this to steer clear of Reeg. The recent cold snap caused a pipe to blow.

I woke up at 6:00 am on Dec. 27 and found water that was ankle deep throughout the entire basement.

When I called Reeg, they called back within a half hour. They asked if I had to turn off the water to the entire house.

I answered yes since the leak was behind a wall. I can imagine how many calls they received throughout that weekend over Christmas weekend for burst pipes.

It was obvious they were doing triage to get to the people who had no water. Reeg was out that day to stop the leak and at least get the main water back on.

I'm letting the wall and all the rest of the basement dry out, then will call Reeg back to finish the job. They were great.

Reeg has done two major projects for me, and I mean major. They installed a modified overhead sewer and replaced the water pipes in my 100-year-old house.

They did an excellent job both times. I don't know anything about plumbing at all and was very nervous about these undertakings, but there was no need.

I would use them again, no hesitation. We are lucky to have a go-to contractor like this in the community.

Had a clogged outside drain in basement stairwell. Decided to try out Reeg Plumbing, and set an appointment.

They got here early and took care of the problem quickly. Very happy.

Will try them again in the future. We recently hired Reeg to rod the 7 kitchen lines in the parking area of our 21-unit condo building.

When a non-kitchen line was also rodded it caused rust in the cast iron pipe to break free and clog the open drainpipe in the laundry room. Reeg promptly came to the site, cleaned the blockage and replaced the piping with PVC, all at no cost to us.

I had seen their trucks in our neighborhood and heard good things about them and so called them about a kitchen drain backup I was having that was getting worse. They said they couldn't make it out until the following week so unsolicitedly referred me to another company.

Good communication, no surprises. Our condo association has been using Reeg for a very long time!! The water temperature in a shower wouldn't get below scalding.

Another plumber told us they would have to break through a wall to fix the problem. We called Reeg Plumbing.

They replaced some parts without breaking through a wall, but the temperature was still too hot. Talked to the owner who was very knowledgeable about the faucet system we had.

He came out himself and figured out the problem which involved our recirculation pump and some defective rings on our new parts. The owner did not charge us for his time.

Friendly service and high quality work at a fair price. I hired Dan Reeg Plumbing install a new kitchen faucet, a replacement for a 15 year old Moen pull-out which had been leaking and whose handle had finally broken.

After replacing the broken handle parts myself (with the aid of instructional YouTubes) resulted in a still leaking faucet, Moen offered me a brand new one (list price about $375) for the cost of shipping (yippeee!). I had no desire to do the install myself, so I called Reeg (based on their location and Yelp reviews) and scheduled the install to occur the day after the faucet was scheduled to arrive, and was given a reasonable two-hour window of 1-3PM.

Sean arrived on time, did a wonderful job on the installation, and was very tolerant of our puppy who I was constanly having to keep away from him so that he could get his work done. After inspecting it, Sean told me that the faucet had not been installed correctly and that there was a chance he might need to remove the entire granite countertop to replace it.

I knew the initial plumbers who did my kitchen install (contract plumbers for the now-defunct Design Expo) were buffoons, so I was disgusted instead of surprised by this news. After quite a struggle (during which I excused myself to another room to fret about the possibility of a simple plumbing job exploding into something much larger), Sean was able to remove the old faucet and had its replacement working beautifully very soon afterwards.

I was pleased with Reeg's service and skill, especially considering that I was hiring them for such a small plumbing job. Would hire them again for sure.

Chris came out to fix a gas leak at a valve behind our stove, and took the time to give recommendations on a couple other trouble areas with water supply pipes. Within a week, he was back out to take care of a leak with the kitchen waste pipe and was great again.

Dan Reeg has definitely earned our business for plumbing needs in the future. Had a recent ceiling leak, which I believed was a plumbing issue.

Thomas and his crew did a replacement of a section of my clay sewer pipe 2 years ago. I paid $4,500 for a replacement clay pipe about 3 feet long to be installed under my basement floor.

They were on time and did the work very quickly. Upon seeing their camera inspection of the newly repaired pipe section, I was very concerned about the misalignment of the connections to the old pipe.

There is an approximately 1 to 1-1/2 inch skew in the connections on either side of the repair that is very visible (i'm including their video in my review). My concern was that it would cause the pipe to eventually become clogged and/or leak around those connections.

I expressed those concerns to Thomas, who was very steadfast in his assertion that the work was "exemplary" and that there was no reason to be concerned. The video in my review clearly shows very poor connections of the repaired section.

I have no idea if there are any leaks into the surrounding ground potentially causing damage or shifting of my foundation, and only time will tell. There are three other important things to note: 1) The picture (included in my review) that Thomas sent me of the repair was in my opinion purposely obscured by dirt and gravel (just at the connections coincidentally) to prevent me from seeing how misaligned the repair was before they backfilled the hole.

2) They did a really bad job of filling the excavation back in, requiring me to fill it in with concrete again myself in order to replace the flooring level. 3) One of his employees stole my screwdriver.

I asked where it was and he pretended to have taken it by mistake, however they weren't doing any work that required a screwdriver at that time and my screwdriver was a distinctive expensive one that you couldn't mistake for any random screwdriver. Thomas even said "these guys have sticky fingers, you can't leave anything lying around".

I'd recommend if you hire this company, you put away any valuables when his team is there, and check the work yourself before it's filled in so you don't have to worry about future problems. Excellent service given by Chicago Sewer And Drain professionals Inc.

Chicago Sewer and Drain Professionals have now come through for us twice. They took the time to properly diagnose a pump drainage issue when every other plumber I called only wanted to address the symptoms, not find the cause.

We were so happy with the pump drainage resolution, that we called them back about a slow drain in our kitchen sink only to find out through Chicago S&D's help that the previous owners of our house had been dumping grease down the drain for decades. They're quick, friendly, clean up after themselves, and the pricing I got for the pump drainage issue was comparable to other quotes I'd gotten for that, but the difference is these WANTED to find the problem, found it, and fixed it perfectly.

I won't call anyone else anymore Did not help in my emergency!!!! Take the emergency off your advertisement!!! The basement of our 6-unit building had flooded due to a collapsed catch basin. [Other plumbers we had take a look said we needed to get rid of the catch basin, and their solution for where all the water would go that the catch basin would normally contain was...

to redirect the downspouts off the building. To where? oh, the alley and/or the front of the building, all of which is essentially a giant concrete slab.

Okay....] CSADP were the only ones we called who talked us through the option of rebuilding the catch basin. Expensive, but not outrageous and certainly less than tearing up the entire basement to reroute the plumbing drain system substantially and bypass the basin.

The service was timely, on budget, courteous, and thorough. I had made an appointment through an app and was quoted a huge price.

He told me he would have to return the next day. So the following day I received a call from the receptionist at the office saying that Joel couldn't make it but that his father was coming in his place.

His father, Bob, came with an assistant, Logan, and worked until he finally pushed whatever it was into the sewer. These guys were incredibly neat and did a fantastic job.

I found out that this is a family run business and Bob has been in the business for over 40 years so he certainly knows what he's doing. I highly recommend these guys.

Thomas was very communicative, he came out to the property to provide a free quote, and he promptly sent the quote pdfs. I was disappointed after talking with another plumber at how Thomas seemed to be trying to up-charge us for repairs and procedures that were not necessary to fix our problem.

We ended up having the check valve and sump pump replaced for $1300 total. Chicago Sewer & Drain quoted us $1100 for camera/hydrojetting the main sewer line, $1600 for an ejector pump replacement, $1200 for a sump pump replacement, and the check valve replacement would be included with other repairs.

We had significant savings with the approach we took (over $2000), and everything works perfectly fine over a year later. This is why I characterized the quotes as "upsell".

The owner had excellent phone etiquette and answered my call right away. I called around 6 am, and the company came out around 9 am the same day.

I wasn't 100% if the company did plumbing in bathrooms because the page is marketing as sewers; however, they did. The company identified that my bathroom faucet needed to be replaced, and they would not find the exact model I already had.

The faucet was replaced, and I was delighted with the service. I'm removing a star because the price was not competitive, and I believe I was overcharged.

For the level of service and quick turnaround, the control should demand a competitive price, but I was charged ~$350 for the service and $417 with parts. The company did not overcharge me on the pieces because I went to Home Depot the next day and saw comparable prices.

The average cost to replace a faucet in Illinois ranges from $150-$350, and I was charged on the higher end of the estimate. Also, I was told I had two bad water valves, which would be an additional $600.

I opted not to change the valves by Chicago Sewer And Drain Professionals and had another plumber come out the next day. The second company informed me that I only needed one value replaced and charged me $50.

That is a dramatic price difference. Also, the second plumber told me that he could use the old knobs from my previous faucet so I wouldn't have to change the double faucet to match.

Had a repair done a few weeks ago where the old pipe was corroded. They came out on time and got a tough repair done, as the plumbing hardware is extremely old (100 yr old bldg).

Couldn't be better! Walter is awesome. The past few days we've been having water issues in the basement due to the washer draining and coming back up the floor drain.

After calling the city of Elgin about the problem, and them coming out and cleaning the main sanitary line, the problem persisted and the city worker told us about how a lot of people are having tree root problems due to the drought last year. So I went on the Google Machine, and keyed "Elgin Plumbing".

After all of the Paid advertisements, a yelp review for Walter's Plumbing came up with all 5 star reviews and excellent reports. So i called him, he happened to be nearby on the other side of town, and came over.

About 45 minutes after he arrived, he had my main line cleared and brought up a chunk of hair thin tree roots the size of a cat. We ran a lot of water through the drains before he left (multiple toilet flushing, draining the washer 3 times, and constantly running the bath tub) and everything seemed to be in great working order, all for $150.

If you have plumbing problems, call Walter, he's the man. Wow! So glad I found Walter.

While installing the kitchen faucet, Walter discovered the drain system to the sink was installed incorrectly when our new counter tops were installed years ago and was leaking and corroded. Walter fixed everything at an extremely fair price and had to get a bit creative to remove the corroded parts off the sink and pipes.

So during the flooding that we had during the 3rd week in April and trying to get someone to get to my house to replace my sump pump and getting really high estimates (with emergency fees) or no one answering the phone and seeing the awesome 5 start ratings he was getting I crossed my fingers and called Walter...he answered the phone and was charging me much less than other places were, generally a low price would make me nervous but after many 5 star ratings for other Yelpers it made me feel better.

I asked him if there was any chance that he could come out today...he said he was in Schaumburg/Wheeling, then I had told him how another local Batavia plumbing companies were going to charge me emergency rates, a $100 just coming out to see you fee and on top of it they couldn't even guarantee me that someone could come out to my house that day. He said "really? That is terrible"...I told him I had called about 7 different companies with no help from anyone.

I don't know if he just felt really bad for me or he just has a heart of gold...I'd like to think it was a bit of both. He said he would be there in 45 minutes...I was shocked...really he was going to come out to help me and my flooded basement? I didn't know people like that still existed.

He got to my house in about 45 minutes and he was all smiles and friendly, went down to my basement and before he even looked at anything he tried my electric box first to make sure it wasn't as simple as I needed to just flip the switch...he tried and I was right there and after he flipped the switch it just went back then he look and he asked how long this sump pump has been in...I said about 11 years...then he looked further and he said it needed to be replaced. He was quick, neat and friendly and he explained what was wrong with my old sump pump and a recommendation to get a back up from Home Depot (he did not need to do that...he makes no money when I go to Home Depot to purchase a backup) Then after he installed my pump he said let me stand here for a few minutes to make sure there are no leaks.

He checked and was good to go and then he said "can I just check your pipe outside just to make sure the water is pumping outside" I said yes of course and he did and there was all this water overflowing...he told me that shouldn't be happening so he looked over by the drain and nothing was going into the sewer drain as it was supposed to...he's like let me try doing a quick rot to see if I can unplug the outflow pipe...didn't work....unfortunately it didn't work because there were roots and clay that had cracked or split the pipe that was clogging up my pipe. Unfortunately because I live in a crappy town home association that wants their own people to fix everything on the outside of our homes I said I would need to leave it for them....he offered to dig a trench or something so the water will flow towards the drain, I just said I couldn't because I would get fined for damage on the landscaping.

Then Walter said you know if I cant help you fix the problem, what I am going to do-I am going to write it on your invoice what is going on so your association will know what's going on and what they will need to fix it. Super nice So my basement is now dry with a beautiful working sump pump.

And I handed the note from my plumber to my horrible association...and guess what Walter was right and I will get my fix as soon as it stops raining...and snowing! Also Walter has 2 super sweet and cute golden retrievers that go out with him...they were so cute In fact as I paid Walter I gave him a baggie of doggie treats for his two doggies. They stay in van while he worked :).

I had a leak in my kitchen pipe that soaked my hardwood floors and tracked down to the basement. While my wife and I were in the basement cleaning up, we noticed that our main sump pump wasn't working either....the backup had kicked in, thank goodness; but the water level was still higher than it should have been.

I called Walter (found him on CL) and to my surprise he came right away. Fixing the pipe in the kitchen took a minute and he didn't even charge me for it.

Then he went down in the basement and replaced my sump pump. He worked fast and everything took about 30 min.

We have an annual service contract with Andersen. Last Friday, a pipe started leaking and sent water dripping from our ceiling.

Andersen sent Gabriel over that afternoon. He quickly assessed the situation and found and repaired the leak quickly.

He did so with removing only the amount of ceiling drywall necessary. He also cut clean edges and long joists; this will help with repairs.

Gabriel was great. He explained what he needed to do and clarified pricing up front and before starting actual repairs.

The downside was with the office team. My wife called Andersen when she saw the leak in the morning; she explained we have a service contract (which means we get priority scheduling).

Andersen's phone person said nobody was available until Monday. My wife was able to reach me about an hour later.

I called Andersen and explained the situation and said waiting 3+ days while we had an active leak was unacceptable -- especially given that we have a service contract. Andersen was able to send Gabriel; he arrived around 4 pm.

This should not have required two phone calls. Is this the classic case of the company not listening to a woman? That part of the experience was disappointing.

My AC went out as have probably a bunch of other people at the same time. I get that.

But I contacted Anderson over Yelp at 7AM to hopefully get something scheduled today. Erin contacted me within the hour and had me booked from 11-2 noting that it had to be broad range due to how booked up they were.

That was fine. I sat home boiling in the heat and humidity and hadn't received any message from Anderson by 2PM.

By 2:15 I was already working with other companies to get on their schedule. I finally get a message from Erin that the tech is on the way and won't arrive until 3.

No "sorry we never contacted you" or anything. Again, I understand that they're busy, but they have my Yelp contact, phone number, and email and all of those would take less than a minute to just send me a heads up that they're behind.

I asked what their normal working hours were because I don't need someone charging me $80 just to say they need to come back the next day, but Erin didn't answer my question and just asked me if I wanted to keep the appt. Seeing that they're hours behind schedule at this point, I didn't feel confident in that non-answer and the lack of communication in general so I canceled.

I wasted a whole day on these guys and it's doubtful I'll get anyone here until early next week. At the very least, maybe they'll be on time for the appt after mine.

I called another place who showed up first thing this morning and got the AC working and tuned up within the time frame they had me scheduled to arrive (check my recent reviews). So I'm good.

Moral of the story: Don't be afraid to shop around even in a crisis. Yeah, I had to spend another awful, sweaty night without AC, and yeah that was on me for canceling.

But it was worth it knowing my money wasn't going to Chad who thinks missing an appointment without notice and leaving customers in the dark is "no reason". Even after all that, I gave this place a second chance by asking if there was a possibility it would still get fixed the same day and couldn't get any commitment to even that.

Got to me quickly for my heat, and didn't try to "sell" me things I don't need. Although my picky furnace decided to work completely while my tech was here, I learned a lot from him and now I know what to look for, should my problem come back, and be able to pass more information should I have to call them back.

My water softener started leaking TWO DAYS BEFORE A SCHEDULED HOME INSPECTION - bad timing! Andersen replaced the "builder grade" softener with a quality system that didn't break the bank - I didn't want to spend a lot for a system I'm leaving behind. Plus they corrected the MLC Plumbing (Moe, Larry, & Curly) with a neat code-compliant pipe installation.

And when they say "We'll be there at 8" they show up at 8 - now that's GOOD timing! They helped replaced a leaking water heater. Quick service.

And excellent communication by everyone that I interfaced with. They provided a clear explanation for all the options and associated costs.

The office does a very good job of communicating. Sam performed annual maintenance on our HVAC units and was very thorough and friendly.

Good experience...Defintiely give them a call. I've used Anderson a few times and they always deliver! I needed a utility sink installed and they came for an estimate and got me the best pricing and we're able to get it done that day.

They replaced two 50 gallon hot water tanks for me. In addition, they installed new copper plumbing, leveled the tanks, took the time to explain everything to me.

Arrived on time, and finished on time! Some things a little pricey! CROOKS!!!! BUYER BEWARE OF CHARGES!!!! I had some trouble getting my water heater lit. I attempted starting the pilot many times over and it failed on me so I called Andersen Plumbing.

I was told by the dispatcher that the minimum charge to come out would be $92 or $93 (cant recall exact but it was under $100) When the technician arrived, he explained that the heater was getting old (7 years old) and the cost of replacing the gas control portion of the heater vs replacing the entire heater. (of course he recommended replacing the entire unit) Before he did anything, he attempted to start the heater and the pilot lit for him on the first try.

Nothing else was needed and he even told me everything was working well on it. Because nothing was needed, the technician told me that he would talk to the office about the charge as he didn't have to do anything and he didn't even take his tools out of the truck.

Funny thing - he spent more time in my house trying to sell me a new heater and an annual maintenance agreement than he did working on the heater itself. They charged me $239!!! Why not the minimum charge? The tech did NOTHING and he even admitted that to me himself! Several days later, after posting my review on the Andersen site, I was texted by the owner.

He said he'd like to talk to me. His words in text - "This is *, the owner of Andersen Plumbing.

I just saw your review, I apologize it took so long for me to see it. I'd like to talk to you whenever you get a moment" I responded by telling him that if talking to him was about anything other than refunding me the additional charges in which I was overcharged, then there was no reason for any further conversation.

I never heard back from him again! I will NEVER CALL these CROOKS again! I highly recommend the same to anyone reading this! CROOKS!!!! SCAMMERS!!!! BUYER BEWARE!!! UPDATE (3/25/24)- Chad responded to my review with his comments that you'll see below. --- I will tell you that I was very open to talking to him.

In my response, however, I told him that if he wasn't going to discuss anything about refunding the additionally charges, then there was nothing to talk about. In his response to my review (above), you can see that he is suggesting that he would have considered or was going to give me a refund had I agreed to listen to him.

Perhaps one must submit to his demands, commands and/or be audience to his explanations in order to get a legitimate proper refund?? (Hail to the King!) In the end, his attitude prevented him from doing the honest thing a proper business should have done. In a sense, this is suspiciously discriminatory (buyer beware!) as he is suggesting that he will only discuss or give refund to someone that complies with or agrees with him.

THIS is EXACTLY why I would recommend NEVER doing any business with this company! His comment about a minimum charge is FALSE as I was told by his dispatcher up front and right from the start that there is a minimum fee to come to the house. He proceeds to say that they charge additional charges when they fix or resolve a problem.

There was NOTHING to fix! The heater was already working. So why was I charged an additional $146??? Just for the fun of scamming and/or dominating a customer? You can see it plainly see what kind of person this is via his response! - DO NOT TRUST THIS OWNER and avoid any financial exchanges with him.

Unless I hear back from them and get a legitimate refund, I stick fully to this review and my recommendation. Jon came out to my parents today to access water damage.

He was punctual, thorough & very helpful. If we ever have any other problems down the road we'll be calling them again.

Andersen Plumbing & Heating were great! They specifically explained what they were going to do and how much it would cost. They were professional and courteous.

I recommend them to everyone who has a project or plumbing problem. I loved the quick response and the tech was knowledgeable and easy to talk to.

We we started to talk, we discussed a charge (I think $90) for the first half hour, and if he needed to stay longer, it would be $260. I agreed and it took about an hour to assess the issue.

When he left he said it was $330 so it was cumulative. He did not make it clear that it would be $240 for the next 60 min! I really liked the tech but I wish he would've been more clear.

$350 for 60 min of assessment (no parts or tools needed) and a phone call to the manufacturer seems outrageous to me. I used another Company to replace the burners at half of Andersen's quote.

Since I found Andersen via Yelp, I should sing their praises here as well. I called them late Tuesday afternoon our upstairs AC stopped blowing cold air.

Gabriel was here the next morning and exhausted all possible issues before determining it was the compressor, which didn't surprise me since the unit is 20+ years old. He quoted a fair price for a new 2.5 ton unit, which he returned the next day with another tech to install (not easy in our hot attic).

Less than 48 hours after my initial call, we were back up and running with a new Lennox system. No more camping in the basement! Will definitely call Andersen when it's time to replace the other unit.

Andersen did an excellent job with cleaning out my sewer lines! The two service techs first ran a camera to inspect the extent of the problem and then got right to work. They finished in a timely manner and were extremely professional.

Highly recommend and would definitely use them again! Highly recommend Andersen. Guys were very professional, in addition to replacing my old water heaters, they corrected incorrect plumbing another company installed before we purchased the house.

Cleaned everything up as well. Would definitely use them again.

Andersen Plumbing and Heating is my go-to for plumbing needs. I moved from one side of town to another, and I'm glad I'm still in a region they serve! Mario is truly a rockstar, and I always ask for him when I need something fixed.

They dug a trench, re-routed the sump discharge, replaced my dishwasher and disposer and re-did the piping in the sink so it was compliant with Illinois plumbing standards. A plumber you can trust is worth their weight in gold, and Anderson delivers! I had a toilet that was flushing very slowly, so I called Andersen.

The tech shows up WITHOUT the equipment to rod the drain. He only had a 6' auger.

He shoved it down the toilet, and said he couldn't find a clog. I showed him where the cleanout cap was on the drain in the basement, but he said they don't like to open those.

That is exactly why they are there, to access the drain. He removed the toilet, but never once poured water down the drain, to see if the drain was clogged, or it was just an old toilet that was having difficulty flushing.

He told me that he wasn't going to charge me for this visit, and would be back tomorrow, with a camera, the machine to rod the drain, and to set a new toilet. He then proceeded to charge me $215 for removing a toilet, basically.

He told me that tomorrow's visit will end up being close to $1000, including $385 to set a toilet that I purchased. That seemed a bit excessive, and why should I pay them twice to show up, when they should have fixed it the first time? My BS detector was going off after he left.

I poured gallon after gallon of water in the drain, and it all drained perfectly. It was just the toilet, and I believe that the tech knew that, and figured they could fleece us.

I called them in the morning and told them not to come over. I set the toilet myself, but when I went to hook up the water to the tank, the water connector was missing.

The tech STOLE it from my bathroom. I called angrily, and they did send somebody over with a new one.

Avoid this company like the plague. I called at 8:30am and a technician came by 10:30am (originally scheduled for the 2-4pm window, but had an earlier opening).

Very response and even the person who answered the phone was able to diagnose the problem. She gave me a quote of how much it would cost and that's exactly what the technician charged.

Jason replaced the sillcock in the garage and was here for about thirty minutes. The new sillcock has their name and phone number on it which is a nice feature.

I would highly recommend this company! Crew showed up on time, were fast and thorough ! Project came in under bid and everyone from the office help on the phone to the techs that did the job were outstanding. We're customers for life now! 5 Stars! Quick answer through yelp.

I needed a 1" PVC shut off replaced and 3 shut offs under my sink (threaded - not soldered) and they wanted over $1200. Get a quote before you have them do any work.

Chad was very responsive in getting a time set up for someone to come take a look at my air conditioner. The team kept in contact about timing and any small delays.

Gabriel came out and looked at the air conditioner and pointed out several things to me (with actual before and after pictures.) Everything was explained prior to the work. Great experience, I'd use them again.

My second floor bathroom shower valve was leaking after twenty years of wear and tear. Jason and his partner David were very knowledgeable and professional in in assessing what the job would require to sucessfully complete the repair or replacement of the valve.

Jason determined that the delta cartridge would only require replacement not the valve itself. The job was performed in a professional and timely manner! Thank you Anderson plumbing as a prevouis quote from another company would have cost me $1,900 to replace a valve that wasn't necessary.

We had a bit of an emergency at the house because we didn't know where the shutoff was and I was in the hospital so I couldn't help. I called and they took care of everything from calling the city to have them come turn it off, to getting someone there same day, and telling us what to buy for replacement.

Have came and did a great job installing and then the next day, we still didn't have hot water so I called and Jason walked us through restarting our hot water heater over the phone. Great customer service and attention to detail!! Thank you! My experience with Andersen P&H is in line with many of the others here on Yelp.

I called APH. Morgan kindly answered the phone on the first ring.

I explained the reason for my call. Morgan then asked that I send her a picture of my water heater and the label on the water heater.

10 minutes after texting her the requested pics, I get a reply with the cost and details of the cost. The price is in the ballpark of the other two companies that I called; so I knew where they would end up on the price scale.

The reason I selected APH was due to the Yelp review of others and the fact that Morgan's request was smart - great use of technology and time and my time matters. As for the installation, less then 24 hours from the time I made the appointment, JC arrived (15 minutes early).

JC walked into my home, slipped on his shoe covers and I showed him the location of the water heater. JC quickly got to work on removing the old water heater.

30 minutes later, Mario and Morgan showed up with the new water heater. The APH Team brought the unit into the basement, did not mess up any flooring or walls in the process.

The total time was about an hour. The job was well done and there were no surprises - which I like.

Morgan was great. JC was great.

Mario was great. These are my three faces to the company and my guess is, the entire employee base of the company is great, as bad people would not last long in a company like this.

APH is my plumber moving forward. We used the services of Andersen Plumbing & Heating recently to replace our furnace and hot water tank and for a repair in our kitchen.

This has been reported to YELP as it goes against the guidelines. To reiterate my experience.

Called them out a few weeks ago and they wanted an insane amount to come out. Way higher than other plumbers I called to ask.

They said they were able to be out within a time period the same day "likely." Decided to go with a different plumber because of the upfront costs. He may be a decent plumber, but his trip charge was too high for my blood.

They got it working consistently again, then fully explained their findings. While I may still end up needing to replace a component (which the rep showed me and fully explained), because it's an expensive part and he's not 100% sure it needs to be replaced today, he just tested to ensure that I would have heat for the weekend, charged me the service fee, and ordered the part so that it's on hand if I do end up needing it.

I've lived in the Naperville area since '92 and wish I'd found them decades ago -- only place I'll call going forward. I called Anderson Plumbing & Heating on a Sunday afternoon for emergency service of my hot water heater.

Chad, the owner, answered. Because of the recent cold Chad had given his techs time off and didn't have any available until the next day.

Chad then asked a few questions about the unit and asked if I could send him pictures. He gave me his personal number and I sent the pictures.

I have had sink repairs, heating and cooling inspections and repairs, and issues no other companies would work to figure out. They get the job done quickly and properly every time without charging a cent more than what's necessary.

I called the office and they gave me a story as well. I demanded that they send another plumber and return my garbage disposal.

I asked the new plumber to explain why it wouldn't fit and he started explaining features of the garbage disposal that had nothing to do with the fit, but eventually confessed that it would fit. He finally installed the garbage disposal.

In the end I sought advice from several other people, took a day off of work, listened to a lot of b.s. until I finally got the garbage disposal installed.

If you are not handy or mechanically inclined, don't hire. Jason was an amazing blessing to my elderly friend Don.

He pulled out all the stops to get there as soon as possible, and charge him as little as possible. He fixed the plumbing issue promptly, and made my friend feel valued and important due to the priority that Jason made Don in his busy schedule.
