I normally do my own plumbing repairs but due to my age I am now calling plumbing services to do my repairs so I know what needs to be done and because of this I know when plumbers are taking advantage of homeowners. But not Juan, he was totally on the level and that's what I liked about him.
A1 will now be my go to company. Finally, they are very reasonably priced.
I needed a plumber to clear a clogged toilet in a condo at off hours. From our building mgr's recommendation, I tried A-1 Budget Plumbing (ABP) for the first time.
1. I called ABP.
The call was answered in less than 1 minute. 2.
I explained my situation to Susan & inquired about their rates which I found to be within the average considering I was calling at 4:30pm & looking for a service call probably over the weekend. 3.
Susan asked pertinent questions to my situation & offered a next day service (Saturday) between 10am-2pm. I booked the appointment.
4. Albert, the plumber arrived within the prescribed window of 10-2.
5. He immediately went to work clearing the blockage without having to remove the toilet.
6. I paid for 1 hour of service at their weekend hourly rate plus a $5 charge for the equipment he used plus tax.
7. All phases of service were performed as described on the phone subject to on-site inspection by the plumber with no surprises.
8. Again, based upon my initial call with Susan, the type of questions she asked, only one plumber was dispatched & needed.
8. In summary, Albert showed his experience & knowledge.
I paid with a credit card (no added credit card fee). I received an invoice by email before Albert left the building..
I will definitely use A-1 Budget Plumbing again. BMS They came out to check on a leak in my condo bathroom, possibly a leaking toilet.
Upon inspection, no leak was found with the toilet. I was charged for the visit and parts as the wax seal was replaced.
No problem. However, the leak continued around the base of the toilet.
I took it upon myself to follow the wet tile to the source behind the wall directly next to the toilet. I called and they came back out.
I explained that I found the leak. It was repaired.
I was charged for the second visit and disputed the first charge since they did not attempt to seek out the source of the leak...AT All. I found it.
I am not a plumber. They refused to refund or discount the first charge.
There is a reason that their hourly rate is so low. I found out the hard way.
I do not recommend a company 1) that employs incompetent or uncaring staff 2) is not reasonably accountable for its lack of tradesmanship. See pic.
How did he miss this?! Quick, fast, knowledgeable, and will take the time to teach you a thing or two!!! The response is very fast! Had to have my washer (washing machine) valve replaced. The manual override valve also had to be replaced because it wouldn't stop the water.
You see, I live in a condo and if the manual override valve doesn't work, we have to pay the building to shut the water off for the (vertical) stack we live in. No one in the stack has use of water when this is done.
Maka, the A-1 Budget Plumbing employee that worked on our valve was cool. You could tell he enjoyed his job because he was singing to the sounds he was playing on his phone.
He had to cut into the drywall a bit to replace one side of the override valve. He cut perfectly, just stopping before cutting into a wood piece that was supporting the fixture.
He couldn't have gotten closer than he did. I guess that's a reflection of his familiarity of the building.
In the end, the job was completed with no issues. Satisfied with the job done! Great service! We purchased a new refrigerator and needed a plumber to connect the water line.
They responded right away and sent plumbers out the same day. The plumbers were fast and efficient and very respectful....I wish I got their names.

10:27am I get a call my time was now 1pm-6pm today, but I told them I did not want to wait more than half a day so said thanks. I then get a call 10:38am a technician is now available and headed your way.

Response is your time is 1pm to 6pm very deceptive in my eye when I told them that I would not take the appointment between 1-6pm today otherwise it was scheduled to tomorrow. I have used A-1 many of times with awesome response and never an issue until today.
If you can't make the appointment say so as I did. Don't keep people waiting as you did to get business.

I called in to report a plumbing issue at 7:00am and Sharon answered immediately and followed up a few times to make sure that everyone was on the same page. The plumber was dispatched once I was able to contact my tenant's neighbor to allow him access to both bathrooms.

Had the broken main shut off valve replaced in the condo unit. Because of the good reviews in Yelp, I contacted them to replace the valve.
Like some of the plumbers that quoted a flat price , they quoted a time and materials quote. I went with them, because I wanted a quality job and figured pricing like that would insure it.
The main office was easy to deal with. They were familiar with the complex that they were gonna install the valve in, plus they had a plumber who has worked in the complex, so I set up an appointment to get him to do the job.
They had to order parts to complete the work. They contacted me when the parts came in and we set up the appointment.
That day before the appointment, they texted me to make sure we were all set. Andrew the plumber contacted me when he arrived ( on time) and I contacted the site manager to shut off the water to the building.
He explained to me what he was going to do, before he started. He was conscientious and did a quality job.
When he finished , he cleaned up everything and you never knew he was there. We tested everything and it worked perfectly.
I can not say enough how good Andrew was. If I need any more plumbing done, this is the company I am going to do business with.

Aloha, Derek A1 Budget Plumbing has been our go-to plumber for several years. Today they replaced a toilet cover on a Toto toilet that looked simple until everything went sideways.
Thankfully they had the right tools, an imagination, and persistence. Many thanks! After 3 weeks from snaking my outside drain, it was back to being 80% plugged.
Called and got a plumber out the next day. He snaked it again.
I had to pay for the service again although at a lesser price. I did go and check the drain again and water was still coming out slowly.
Before the plumber left he suggested I get a drain bladder to clean out my drain every few months. I got one one Amazon and tried it yesterday.
After running it for about 15 minutes a big ball of roots and gunk shot out of the drain!! The water is now gushing out, wow!! Again it's called a drain bladder. It was $10.

Aloha! We are so happy with this awesome company. The first time we used them is when we had a under ground pipe leak.They came out immediately to assess the leak.

Last week we had a major water break up the street which gave us an opportunity to install a pressure regulator valve. Our PSI was way over the recommended limits so they came to our rescue.

I was skeptical about the 4 star rating. A-1 was suggested to us and they didn't disappoint.
First off the leak was difficult to find because of the way the pin hole was leading the water. Manu did his best and was able to find and repair the leak quickly.
Understand that the leak was in the ceiling and no one wants multiple holes cut into their ceiling. Manu was able to track it down with minimal damage to the ceiling.
Thank A-1 and Manu for an awesome job. To anybody else looking for a plumber don't let the low star ratings discourage you from using this company, take it with a grain of salt.

Our bathtub drain was clogged and I suspected something went inside. I called up A-1 Budget and was given a window of 8 am to 12 pm.
At 11:30, the plumber still had not shown so I called their office and was told the plumber was running late. When he finally showed up, he was able to snake the drain quickly.
The pricing was around $200 for the service and use of the snake. I would definitely use this company again.
They seem very professional and dependable and won't gouge you on the pricing like Roto Rooter which charged me over $500 for the same service. I discovered an 1 1/2" galvanized pipe leaking for the kitchen drain.
Due to corrosion, when attempting to remove it, the pipe broke at the connection. Plumbers moved the washer to access the fitting behind the wall.
The pipe stack was feeding the kitchen and laundry sink with a clean out. The galvanized fitting was cut off and new ABS fittings installed and repiped both drains.
They also installed a new garbage disposal. Needless to say, it was a big job in a very tight location.
I found A-1 plumbers to be professional and efficient. This is my second call and I highly recommend their service.

Fortunately we were able to get a plumber out the same day but not until 3-6pm. At which time the plumber came out closer to 6pm.
Again, it was the previous plumber who came ~ Duke, a really nice guy, but couldn't find the leak. And we got charged for a service call.
Alrighty then. We were told that his boss would call the following day.
The next day, a lady called and said no one could come out but someone could come out the following day of which I had an appt. the plumber came in the afternoon and did a more detailed leak check and have different variation and versions of possible problem shoot.
But with this issue, you need a plumber and a general contractor to fix the issue. I'm not sure if we will be charged another service call, but feel we should not be charged any fee since the first plumber did not routine test.
So to speak, I'm a little disappointed with A1 plumbing for their service, as the first service provided me was excellent. I'm going to rate this highly based solely on the service recovery by Andrew.
Andrew rocks! I've used them several times from hot water heater to toilet install etc. I had 1 inoperable shower and 1 with a very small leak.
Jim showed up - not in the best of moods but everyone has a bad day. Tells me the inoperable shower needed a new faucet.
I agreed to do that. He tried to fix the leaking shower with a new cartridge.
He told me - I have bad news, the entire assembly needs to be replaced at a cost of at least $1,100. Yikes.
Told him I'd think about it and he went to fix other shower. What Jim didn't tell me was my slow leak was now outright a steady full on drip of water and not just a slow leak.
Suffice it say it couldn't be left like that. Not cool he didn't even tell me until I looked at it.
He said - nope, nothing could be done. I called the office while he was at my home and they agreed to send a supervisor/Foreman.
It was nightmarish. Andrew came about an hour later.
Very professional and said he was here to fix the situation. He agreed my assessment the current situation was unacceptable.
I'll cut to the chase - he completely fixed the issue 100%. I offered to proactively pay (it wasn't the $1,100 fix) and he refused.
A-1. Andrew saved the day.
He knew I was very upset yet stayed calm. He's a keeper.
As for Jim, I think you need to seriously figure out what is going on. The situation was beyond unacceptable and a proposed $1,100 fix obviously wasn't needed.
Nobody should have to go thru this. And A-1, there is even more to this story.

My second time calling A-1. My toilet was running and I called and was given a time of 8am-1pm for a tech to be at my home.
Bob showed up around 9am and was able to quickly fix the issue. He was friendly and efficient in the fix.

A-1 Budget was excellent in communicating that day when the technician would arrive. Jasper (plumber) communicated clearly on what my options were.
He was efficient in installing the new parts and after installing the cutoff valve he did not waste any time and had me contact BWS right away to turn the water back on while he worked on other parts. Job looks good and no leaks.
He gave advice on how to maintain the new parts and to adjust water pressure if needed. The price for the cutoff valve seemed rather inflated compared to what you can get from Home Depot but the time he took seemed very reasonable and I did not feel that he overcharged on labor.
I would recommend this business. Easy to call and schedule an appointment- we needed faucets installed in the master bath.
Luckily it wasn't an emergency so was able to wait til the following week. The day off the appt I got a call from the office right towards the beginning of the timeframe to let me know the technician was coming.

An old galvanized hot water pipe busted under the house. It had been dripping for months.
The crawl space is 16 inches!! A1 Plumbing sent Evan to fix this difficult job. This man stayed 2.5 hours under the house laying on dirt to repair the pipes.
And throughout he was patient, professional and even still smiling when he finished the job! We always liked the quick response of A1 to our calls. And their rates are very reasonable.
And their plumbers are always nice guys. But this service job was outstanding! Mahalo Evan ! Had A-1 Sam & Bob replace the water heater and two toilets with ones that they provided.

I called last night at 9:30 pm after discovering that my leaky toilet needed a professional. They have a service that answers calls after hours and they took a message for the office to call me to schedule an appointment.
Lily called me first thing in the morning and scheduled an appointment the same morning and texted me when the plumber was on the way. Evan arrived within a couple of hours of scheduling and promptly and efficiently replaced the parts needed in record time.

This company charged me $198.95 (see copy of invoice) for less than 30 minutes of inspection time and diagnosis is all wrong. Also, why am I being billed $80 for an apprentice that they are teaching.
I would have no complaints and gladly pay if the diagnosis was correct but my church plumber pointed out that the water leak is not in the tub overflow drain but most likely in a pipe behind the tile above the area where the tiles have caved in (caused by water damaged drywall). I am a logical and fair person and need to know what I am paying for.
Otherwise, refund me or else let's have a small claims court judge decide for us. I scheduled for Plumbing service for my company that I work for.
They told me anytime during the day 1pm-6pm someone would be able to come. They never showed.

I called A1 budget plumbing for a leaking faucet and they were able to accommodate me asap. Had Mr Albert come to exchange my leaking garbage disposal.
He did excellent and a very complete job!! He took his time to explain the care of preventing rust. I am very pleased with their work and would highly recommend them Found my auxiliary tank for my solar water system was leaking and via a recommendation from my contractor friend I gave A-1 a call to come replace the tank.
After a short conversation and a little miscommunication regarding what I had and needed replacing, I was able to schedule a time for them to come from Kailua to my house in East O'ahu the very next day. Don and his helper arrived as promised and they efficiently changed out the tank.
They were also able to change out a home owner provided kitchen sink faucet. All completed in about two hours.
Simple and straightforward review, they did a very good job and I would use them again, definitely for any urgent issues I have. At $110 an hour, I may not just them for projects I can better plan for as I believe I could have save a couple hundred bucks for this project if I could have shopped around.
But they were definitely worth what I paid for and am glad I called them for my tank replacement. I have been working with a few plumbing companies over the past year and A-1 has been the most reliable and responsive.
