Review and analyze now for company Spadaro J P & Sons and provide the analysis in the discussed format for the following reviews: '''Had a great experience with their emergency services. Had water burst from our ceiling in the bathroom, and they were able to help identify the problem and fix it entirely.
They came for an emergency leak issue and they were timely, effective, and polite. Thank you! They came on site for 10 minutes and charged us over $500 for not doing any work but offering "consultation." Even when we asked for a partial refund (the payment was made automatically before we could stop it), they said no.
I'll never call this vendor again. Yesterday, I had Chris come out to inspect a leaky pipe in my bathroom wall.
He not only instantly diagnosed the problem, but must've used some kind of magic to figure out the exact spot in the wall to cut to find the leak! It was amazing. He patched the pinhole effortlessly and proactively scheduled a water "shut off" with my condo building association.
I am so happy with Spadaro and Chris! They are punctual, responsive and excellent at what they do! First off the tech was great, but the business practices employed by this company are downright dishonest. They track the time the tech spent on site by the GPS location of the truck, so guess what, if the truck is in your neighborhood for two hours and the job only takes an hour, you are getting charged for two.
These guys are complete idiots and amateurs. Unresponsive and irresponsible.
Obvious leak in the ceiling in my unit, and they can detect moisture but not where it's coming from. Unresponsive when it comes to actually resolving the issue.
Using basic tools, not even thermal imaging cameras. They may be ok for rinky dink projects, but don't consider using them in an emergency, or anything professional.
Spadaro was recommended by a neighbor as a referral. We had an emergency with a pressure relief valve on a water heater.
Spadaro was quick to come out, analyzed the problem and fixed it quickly. They were also incredibly patient as I was visiting my mother in the hospital and they waited for me to get back to the house.
I can't thank them enough. The plumber did a great job and gave me a quick lesson on what to do in the future.
Very bad experience with this company. A "technician" (not even sure he was a licensed plumber) came to our house to fix a toilet that did not flush.
In short, he never fixed it, and we incurred a bill of over $500. After multiple visits by the same and other "plumbers", I found out what the problem was, looked at some YouTube videos, and fixed it myself.
After negotiating, the Bill was adjusted, but the main problem was never resolved by either Spadaro or Sons. I would not recommend this plumbing service to anyone.
Tech came to inspect a sewer smell. Spent about 5 min and determined it was not plumbing issue.
Did not use any tools just looked around. Bill came in for $195.00.
I would not call them if they told me minimum charge is $195/hr. I asked for reasonable charge.
Jason wanted me to pay in full. I can imagine how much they would charge for actual real job !!! Nothing but AWESOME service.
Have used Spadaro for a couple of needs: issues with my shower diverter, and a major pipe back-up. They were responsive, super professional, timely, and efficient.
They even took the time to clean-up behind them, wiping down the floor and cabinets were residue from their work had landed. Major props to Ryan, the most recent plumber that came to address a need I had.
He was super professional, friendly, quick, and all around great to deal with. Rude service.
In my opinion, they over-charged for services. Would not recommend these guys.
This wasn't always the case. They used provide good customer service.
Not sure what has happened. Caveat: We had a disagreement about an amount owed and that left both sides frustrated, so that has influenced this review.
In sum, if you want basic plumbing done quickly and don't mind rude service, go ahead - risk it. Otherwise, no.
There's a lot of choice. There are a lot of plumbers in the DC/MD/VA area! Asked them to repair my guest toilet.
Instead the repairman went wandering through my apartment into my bedroom and decided on his own to do work that wasn't needed and try to charge me for it. (they said they heard water running - I'm positive that they didn't).
I called to contest the bill, and they confirmed that the work order said guest bath only. They offered a 25% discount.
When I continued to express concern, the lady hung up on me. What a scam.
I needed a wax ring replaced under the toilet and Robert Jr. and Hunter were here at the time I was told and done in less than 30 minutes.
I have used Spadaro for at least 20 years an have never had a problem! Love these guys! Thank you! Per a recommendation from another unit in my condo building in DC, I called Spadaro Plumbing to provide a quote & fix a broken sink in the apt I'm renting. The upper basin portion of the cheap pedastal sink has a large chip in it after a small picture frame fell off the wall.
All that needs replacement is the basin portion (no pedastal, no faucets). Roughly 6-8 weeks ago, Spadaro sent out a technician to provide a quote.
My girlfriend was home to receive him and he took the specs and left saying he'd call me with a quote. Just today, I received a quote after several calls on my part, none on theirs.
$600-650. On 20 July, after several weeks and 1 or 2 follow-up calls that I placed, I spoke to owner Jack Spadaro who told me he's still looking for a replacement sink.
After some 3 additional weeks, I called back (last week) and he offered me an almost new, slightly larger, sink for $150, including faucet and pedastal (again, not needed, but I'll pay a little extra for them to be done with the job). Otherwise, he said, he'd be forced to go to Home Depot and purchase a sink for ~$100 (where I thought he would have tried a long time ago).
I said I'd call back the next day after measuring the space to see if it would support the larger sink. He agreed.
I checked and no luck (it'd be too large) and I called back the next day as agreed upon... to find him out of the office the next two days.
Left a message and no call back. So I called again today to check in and make sure he got the message requesting we please stick with the original sink size.
Jack was not available though employee Dave took the call stating he found a 21" sink for me (again, not sure why I have to keep calling back to receive updates, why I'm not informed when they 'find' these sinks). To my excitement that the job may actually see completion, Dave provided the $600-650 quote and informed me the sink alone is $300! I requested the basin alone be replaced (as I've informed them twice now already), but he insisted they'd have to do the pedastal and faucets as well unless I know the company of the sink (what did the technician come out originally for??).
. .
. .
Countless basin sinks are available through online stores for $75-150. My intention with hiring a professional would be to avoid the time it would take to purchase and install the sink, even if slightly more expensive.
This has taken more time that it would have to personally do the job in the first place and two months later with no progress made. After reading the other reviews, I suppose if a technician can come out and fix your problem on the spot, then Spadaro may fit the bill, but otherwise, don't expect a call back nor a fair or consistent reporting of costs & quote.
Great professional service every time. I'd like to recommend asking for Ryan Mittelsetter because he really did an outstanding job and gave the best possible price options.
I felt he went above and beyond what was asked. Although we have used them for 30 years, lately their service leaves something to be desired.
The last visit by a service man was to replace one part in our toilet. While replacing the part, he broke another one.
Then without even asking me, he dismantled the entire toilet damaging the tile on the floor and found he didn't have one needed part. He had to wait for a replacement.
When I received the exorbitant bill, I offered to pay while complaining about the service. It took them almost three weeks before I got a response to my complaint.
The reduced the bill slightly never acknowledging either the bad service or the damaged tile. I like Spadaro.
Long established company and I've used them on and off for 10+ year. The technicians they send seem to know what they are doing.
The have repaired a gas boiler for me, and replaced completely a boiler in another property. They have also installed a new hot water heater.
They give you a two hour window for appointments and call when they r on the way. They leave the work area neat.
I had a simple leak. The Spaldaro plumber managed to break the shower faucet, and left probably because,it was Friday afternoon and needed to have his Bud.
My shower did not work when he left and objectively the situation was worse when he left than when he first came. What followed was interesting : I called Spaldaros office to schedule a new appointment and complain about the fact that this had not been solved.
The same plumber called me back, and probably made a mistake with his phone and conf called me with a colleague of his. He did not know I could hear what he said.
He started calling me names, including Bitch. That's great client relationship right there.
Have had Spadaro fix 3 plumbing issues in my apt in NW DC over the years. They have always done a thorough job and the plumbers are friendly, respectful and knowledgeable.
My most recent call to them was for a toilet repair- luckily they were already in the neighborhood. Eric was here within 15 minutes of me making the call and then the repair was done in 15 minutes! Would definitely recommend this company Unless you fancy paying $180/hour for labor and twice the price (compared to Amazon) for materials, don't bother.
Our experience with Spadaro has been fabulous. Nothing but professional, extremely responsive, and go above and beyond to make sure that everything is properly fixed up.
Particular praise goes to Gary and Wayne, who helped us with significant bathroom remodeling and repair issues. Very quick to make return visits as needed, and cleaned up everything well prior to departure.
Would highly recommend. My hot water heater burst on Thursday night.
I called our management company who gave me the names and numbers of two plumbers. The first plumber's answering service took a message and after I waited for about fifteen minutes, I decided to call the second which was Spadaro.
Within four minutes, I received a call back. I explained the problem and they said they would send someone out.
No more than thirty minutes later, the plumber arrived. He was courteous and got the situation under control.
On Friday, Spadaro came back out and installed my new hot water heater. They were neat which is amazing considering all the horror stories you hear about how plumbers leave a mess.
I would highly recommend this company! i would strongly advise against using spadaro. they don't guarantee their work.
we've had them "fix" our toilet and sink and a week later the same problem arises and they charge us to "fix" the same issue again. they are also terrible communicators.
they don't communicate if they've successfully "fixed" something in our house and they don't properly record what we've asked them to fix. in short, we have had several bad experiences with them.
Spadaro (the plumber my condo unit has a relationship with) came out twice to my apartment to locate and fix a water leak coming through my bathroom ceiling. After being here twice, they still couldn't locate it.
They are not thorough -- they didn't bother to remove ceiling panels, which I did myself after they left, and was able to locate the problem. If you have a choice, don't use Spadaro! I had a number of pinhole leaks in a copper supply line in the basement.
They showed up early, finished in under an hour, and were gone. Very clean and efficient.
No problems, cheap rate for the work. They're very good and very expensive -- but I suspect all plumbers are expensive these days and not all are good.
Their staff are very professional and very courteous. An emergency call can cost a fortune but they show up as promised and get the work done.
I believe they do work for several people in my condo and all have had positive comments. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them.
I must say I had a very positive experience with Spadaro Plumbing. They were highly recommended to me which I am glad.
A few months ago had a problem with a clogged sink and other issues in a very old building and Bobby did a great job fixing them as well as adding a clean out section which I did not know about till he showed me.Now next time if there is a problem with the drain everything won't have to be taken apart to unclog it.To day I had a radiator that was leaking and Don came over and replaced the valve and readjusted the angle of the radiator slightly so it would drain properly. These guys are real pros and I highly recommend them. Always excellent.
Highly competent plumbers, knowledgeable and able to diagnose and fix your problem no matter who comes out. Have been with them for 10 years.
Always been extremely satisfied. I was very pleasantly surprised how wonderful Spadaro JP and Sons was.
I called and got same day service for our issue with our dishwasher backing up into our sink and an issue with our toilet flushing. Dave D.
came to our house within 6 hours, he was courteous, helpful and clearly knew what he was doing. The best part was the company sends an invoice to charge, rather than making you pay on the spot.
I was very happy with the amount that Dave estimated the job would cost on the invoice. I would call them again in a second! Anyone who knows me knows I am a stickler for service.
If you are too go with Spadaro. I've used them for moderate work.
They appear on time and their work is solid. Recently I had to call after 8pm to cancel an appointment for the following day.
As much as I expect service I pay it back by not being disrespective of other people's time. The fact that I had to call after 8pm to cancel had me worried.
I needed to be at work the following day to handle an emergency that couldn't be avoided. Not only did someone answer the phone but they did not appear to be put out by my late notice.
I was totally expecting that nothing could be done and that I would need to pay a fee. I think their fees are reasonable and am very happy to recommend them to others who may find they are not getting similar service for similar pay.
An incompetent artist and plumber....$188 to fix a gasket overflow in tub!!.. magic! I prefer the scientist plumbers that think with common sense and understand the importance of saving money and earning a respected client database for future business during these times of crisis...
these are jokers and I feel disrespected. I do not pay $$$ in condo fees to be taken advantage of.
I want their company to post the break down of the work done, so we can all see how 188.00 was calculated. "Check leak in unit 208 bathroom, trace to unit 308 tub overflow.
Supply and install gasket. material 8.00 Labor 180.00" The scene was this: Both 208 and 308 tenants were waiting for plumber and told him the leak was coming from tub and bathroom in 308.
so he walks in unit 208 bathroom looks up....presses the ceiling and then goes upstairs, walks into the bathroom in unit 308 performs a routine check: tub gaskets of drain and overflow.... makes the change.
And charges 180.00 I dont want a plumber that is so impressed with the building receptions decor that he can think to get away with charging and elderly lady with a job that was way over priced. these guys are unbelievable.
they came by to fix a sewage back up, but didn't fix it right the 1st time, then charged us to come out a second to fix the problem that they hadn't fixed the first time. then the 3rd time they came by, we are pretty sure they were high - literally stoned.
then when we received our 3 bills, we were charged at the wrong rate - a rate higher than they had quoted us. we called to dispute the charges and they said not to worry about paying the invoice.
so many many months passed and we never paid for the work. then almost a year later they call us asking where their money is.
we ended up paying for a reduced bill, but still ended up being over $1k for the work. NEVER working with them again.
EVER. They're good and efficient at what they do, but their labor and materials costs are very inflated.
Make sure you get a quote and look for any parts you might need elsewhere. Labor at about $180/hour plus ridiculous parts costs.
So my building management is completely inept and when they tell me that they will have my toilet fixed by the end of the week, i should know better and expect to have to elsewhere for three weeks. Luckily, I called Spadaro during the afternoon and they fixed my toilet in like half an hour.
I felt they got on it quickly and did a great job~ The work is professional but not worth $188.00 for 32 minutes of work. The accounting department needs counseling (rude and argumentative).
This group is amazing . I highly recommend them.
They changed my garage disposal , fixed my toilet and downspout in record time and the bill was reasonable.Im now using them at work, Excellent job Spardo!!!!!!!!!!!! I have used Spadaro for 25 years at my DC condo -- for both unit plumbing and common element plumbing. I HIGHLY recommend them.
I have never had any problems with their work; however, leaks are often not easy to find and fix, so, as with all plumbing problems, you must keep in mind that one visit might not fix the problem. Plumbing is an art, not a science.
Water pressure in my condo building is not great, especially on the upper floors, but particularly in my kitchen. My main complaint is the dishwasher as dishes are not cleaned unless you previously scrub them and there is still soap left in the dispenser and there is soap residue on the bottom.
The occupants of the two apartments above mine, same tier, also complained that the water pressure was low. As the condo association tends to use Spadaro, I contacted them as they were in the building that day anyway.
I was told that I needed a new faucet and supply line which surprised me as I had had my kitchen totally redone in 2005. The cost would be $325.
Unfortunately, the new faucet and supply line made little if any difference in the water pressure and my dishwasher still does not function as it should. Their diagnosis was incorrect.
When I got the bill for $395, I called and complained and it was reduced by $50. Spadaro always sends a bill after the work is done and this was the second time that the bill was for more than the quoted cost.
Both times I complained and the bill was reduced. I have since talked with other residents of the building who said they now use other plumbers as they too did not have a positive experience with Spadaro.
It is quite possible that the supply line to the dishwasher may be blocked by detritus and that is what the problem is. That possibility was not checked out by Spadaro when they replaced the faucet.
I will use other condo owners' recommended plumbers in the future.'''.
