Review and analyze now for company Elkhorn Heating & Air Conditioning and provide the analysis in the discussed format for the following reviews: '''We had never used this company before, but chose them because they are Elite installers of Fujitsu systems. We had them install a 2-head mini-split system (Fujitsu), and we can say, so far so good.
Installation went fine, crew was friendly (I enjoyed talking about chickens), work was permitted and inspected, they helped us with the rebate paperwork, they registered our equipment for the extended warranty, and they got us a better interest rate on our financing than we originally had. That last one was an especially nice surprise.
Knock on wood we won't have to call them for a problem any time soon, but if we do, we'll report back if any follow up experience differs from the initial positive experience. Elkhorn did a quality job on our annual furnace maintenance.
Bryan was on time, and very respectful of the property. He clearly explained to us the maintenance procedures, and made several suggestions on improving the efficiency of our system.
If there were 10 stars, I would give Elkhorn Heating & Air 12 stars. I have been a customer for many years and they continue to amaze me.
Jacob F was my service technician today to start up my furnace and perform annual maintenance. I could not have asked for a more polite, knowledgeable and patient person, he got things up and running, cleaned the entire area, recommended services and I felt that I could completely trust him.
Highly recommend Elkhorn Heating - Jacob was the best! I purchased a new air conditioner and furnace from this company in March of this year. They have been super professional and have provided excellent follow-up.
An Elkhorn service technician named Kevin G. came today to provide my pre-winter maintenance which included changing the filter on my home humidifier.
He was thorough and answered all my questions. I'm thrilled with the functionality of my new system and glad that I chose Elkhorn! Ihad the pleasure of working with Rich.
He was considerate, knowledgeable and very professional. I will never call another company for any heating or air conditioning needs.
We called Elkhorm Heating and Air Conditioning beause our electricity went out in our garage, which caused the refrigerator and freezer to shut down. We called Elkhorn and they responded Immediately.
Tyler, an electrician, came to our home and quickly diagnosed and repaired our electrical problems. Tyler is an excellent electrician.
He is also extremely considerate and took time to explain what needed to be done to repair our electrical outage. We would highly recommend Tyler and Elkhorn Heating and Air Conditioning.
We had Elkhorn Heating and Air Conditioning replace our air conditioner and furnace in July of 2024. Our neighbor previously used them and recommended them to us.
We were pleased with the quote they gave us and in getting things scheduled. The one negative was that we were told by our salesman, Jon Dollar, that we would get a 2024 furnace and my husband said we definitely wanted this year's model.
A 2022 model was delivered in spite of all this. This was something the salesman did, not anyone else at Elkhorn.
Although the 2022 furnace was removed and replaced with the one we were supposed to get, this should NOT have happened. The installing team led by Brian was exceptional! Everyone on his team was amazing! Kayla was sent out to check my plumbing.
She is very knowledgeable and efficient. She showed me everything that could be a concern and I purchased a water alarm for my hot water heater as it has previously leaked.
They are the best company to have for all HVAC , electrical and plumbing. My friend recommended these guys, and he is picky, demanding and a former contractor.
He was right. They did a great job.
Dylan, Blake and Taylor did a really good job. Gary was the rep who met me, and he was thorough and fair.
Excellent work. Excellent install.
Quality really matters. Trane Furnaces and excellent work.
Highly recommend mended. Mike arrived today to remove and cap an unneeded gas line serving our kitchen.
Service was excellent in all respects. Mike was efficient, friendly, obviously an expert.
He took the time to explain everything, and after doing a brief check, found also that the expansion tank on the water heater was no longer functioning. We have been completely satisfied with every service call from Elkhorn, and have purchased their Comfort Club service plan because of the consistently outstanding service.
Been working on my HVAC for 10+ years, excellent service, added an electrical panel to my basement once again excellent work Erik's the best, one of the only technicians that can work on a gas boiler on-demand system Elkhorn was fantastic. Our hot water/radiator system was making terrible noises and wasn't keeping up with cold weather.
I called and they offered to have a technician visit that afternoon to diagnose the problem (that day! -- unbelievable!). During Eric's initial visit, he quickly determined the system had too much air in it, blocking flow and causing the heating unit to fail.
After attempting to simply bleed off the excess air in the system, it became clear there were other systems problems and he scheduled a longer visit to purge and repair the system just a few days later. After a single visit with repairs of a few failed components we're back in business.
Many thanks for great work! I called 10 different companies to get bid out for a whole home humidifier and only three of which actually scheduled an appointment and showed up of those three two tried to sell me a $20,000 furnace. These guys showed up quoted exactly what was asked for and not a thing more or less.
They made a couple of polite suggestions about a few better cleanliness standards for the furnace maintenance and even offered to clean it for free and show us how to do it ourselves. This is exactly what you want from a service provider.
As a fellow service provider I raise a glass to these folks for doing exactly what we are supposed to do... what the customer tells us to.
Thanks guys The company representative had given us a very competitive estimate & we chose Elkhorn. Matthew & Justin just completed installing a new Trane air conditioner.
They were prompt, polite, reliable, & swept up after installation. We couldn't be happier & will use them in a few months to replace our 18 yr old furnace.
We chose Elkhorn because of their professionalism, fair pricing, & ethical business practice. We will use them as our electricians as well going forward.
Very happy family in Highwoods! Elkhorn quoted me a system then at the last minute said the venting could not be done and they needed to talk to the engineers at Trane and to give them a few weeks to a couple months. I never heard back from them.
Now the prices are higher and it looks like they are no longer Trane Comfort Specialist anymore. I refuse to do business with companies that do not honor their commitments.
I called Elkhorn because two of my neighbors had complete furnace and entire house air conditioning systems installed, and were happy with the service and installation. I needed an upgrade to my split system air conditioner, as it was over ten years old, and I needed a third air handler unit installed in the system.
When I talked to Elkhorn, the lady answering the phone should win a prize as the most pleasant person in Colorado. She scheduled a time for Gary to come out and lay out the job.
Gary, the owner, arrived when promised. We agreed that my outside unit would be replaced, and three air handlers installed.
We could use the original piping for two of the units to save running all new copper lines. The price quoted was less than two other quotes I had received, so I gave the go ahead.
I am intimately familiar with HVAC from my time working with industrial equipment, so I knew what I wanted in my new system, and Gary agreed. The two HVAC technicians were on time.
They finished the inside first, and got out of our way. They cleaned up my house, and my yard to my satisfaction, and left me a professional installation, inside and out.
I liked the solid new water drainage system they installed, and the covers placed on all of the new outside piping. My wife and I are familiarizing ourselves with the new airhandlers, which are much better than the old unit.
We are pleased with the cost of the new system, as well as the installation. I will not hesitate to use Elkhorn for any HVAC problems I have in the future.
If I could rate them zero stars I would. Terrible, rude customer service.
They will sell you an expensive product, and they are great to work with when you are buying...but when something goes wrong they are awful. I'll never do business with them again.
We had such a good experience with them for years. They installed the AC system in our last home and did regular service on it.
Had Gary come out and do a quote for us in our new home for an AC system and he was super thorough during the estimate appointment and spent 2 hours with me. Despite many calls and emails to the company afterwards, I still have not received the estimate (almost 1 month later).
Very unprofessional. As we were bidding this out we were pretty sure we'd go with Elkhorn but apparently their service quality has gone way downhill and they don't want our business.
I don't appreciate having my time wasted. Be careful, I hired this company to give me a second opinion on my ac unit.
First time they came out the system was frozen and the tech could not diagnose the issue. A few days later he returned and diagnosed the system.
The first trip was their fee of 89$ the tech was there all of 10-15 min and assured me there would not be another visit fee. After diagnosis a few days later they charged another 98$ due to more testing...Not once where additional fees discussed.
The first company does their diagnosis and trip in one cost anything further is obviously more. I am disappointed that there was not more communication on what costs where involved had there been I may not have moved forward.
Just had our furnace serviced. Eli did a fantastic job.
Was early, wore a mask. Was courteous, friendly.
Concientious. Knew his stuff.
Cleaned everything to within an inch of it's life! We couldn't be happier with the serivce this company provides and with the equipment. I want to commend Elkhorn on an excellent job installing our ac.
Gary, Rob, Rick, Chandra and team all were on time and professional. Our ac blows very cold, and most of my expectations have been met or exceeded.
I did refer a family member and a friend for quotes from Elkhorn, neither of which seemed to receive quite the quality experience I got.....too bad. The estimates given to all three of us were consistent with each other for the proposed work, which was nice to see.
I don't write reviews often, but great work to Elkhorn! I would recommend this business to most in the Denver metro, thanks guys! Disappointing, rude, and unprofessional. I was referred to Elkhorn by the Fujitsu website for room and area HVAC systems.
Called on a Friday around 1pm. The woman answering the phone was curt and simply stated they don't service our area, Lafayette.
I clarified our location is 22 miles from their office and asked who else we should call. They said, "somebody else" and hung up.
Yeah, like, no problem.? I'll definitely call somebody else. I'll always call somebody else when the business communication skills are that of an Ogre.
Elkhorn Heating, AC and Electric charged me $139 for an incorrect home visit that was clearly based on a miscommunication. I am very disappointed with them.
What happened: I was referred to Elkhorn electric for an electrician by a neighbor, who gave me their number. I called (they use a call center that seems unfamiliar with the business) and requested an electrician to come investigate what could be causing an electric burning smell in our home.
I mentioned that it seemed to happen after we raised the thermostat, so it might be associated with that. Apparently that caused her to refer the call someone from the Heating side of the company.
Fuzzy, the technician, called me and I told him that the smell was definitely not dust being burnt by the furnace and we scheduled the soonest possible time for him to come by, which happened to be while I was out of the house but my husband was home. He was abrupt to the point of rudeness over the phone.
When I returned, I was shocked to discover that the "electrician" had only looked at our furnace, not other appliances that may have shorted out, declared it working and told my husband that he had been smelling dust. The guy had taken a payment of $139.
When I called back to request a visit by an actual electrician to deal with the electric burning smell, their response was terrible. Instead of trying to make things right, they argued that I had asked for an HVAC person, and said that they were going to find recordings of my original call to the call center in order to show me that I had asked for a heating specialist.
Since my original call was going off of a phone number my neighbor provided, I DIDN'T EVEN KNOW that they were also an HVAC business. I found Elkhorn very easy to work with and friendly.
We noticed at the beginning of the warmer season our AC wasn't working. I schedule a service call to assess the problem.
Joe was early, professional, & friendly. What I thought would be a simple once over to determine the issue ended up getting fixed on the spot.
I was very happy with how quick and easy the fix was. The price of repair was very fair and affordable.
I appreciated their quick response and repair time along with what I consider is fair pricing. Had a great experience with Elkhorn when it came to installing a new attic system in my home.
Added and air conditioner and a wireless thermostat. Tim McKeown even suggested a couple of things that I could do myself in order to lower cost a bit.
The install passed Lakewood city inspection with flying colors. Just hired Elkhorn to replace the entire HVAC in the house.
They did an outstanding job. Justin and his entire team were professional and courteous throughout the whole process.
All calls were returned promptly, all appointments were kept on time, and all work was completed on schedule as promised. We could not be happier with the Elkhorn experience.
Is this really how they do business? Had Elkhart come out to quote me on a new water heater, furnace and AC. The sales rep walked in wearing a large coors belt buckle which immediately threw me off, but it only went down hill from there.
I showed him the furnace and water heater, he then started making a FaceTime call to someone at his office asking a bunch of questions. Don't you know what your selling?? He was hear maybe 20 minutes and left me with a bunch of brochures all over my kitchen table.
2 weeks later I got the quote, it was almost double what other companies quoted. Beware! This was the only company that came out who really identified a way to address the poorly done return air on my furnace.
Tim McKeown did a very good job planing out a way to add more return air and relocating the gas line. Everyone else who came out for an estimate just wanted to sell me a system and sent a sales person not very experienced HVAC guy.
The owner Gary Neal has been diligent in addressing some issues that came up during the course of the job and answering my questions I am updating this review and moving it to 5 starts. Elkhorn was back a few weeks ago to address a couple of things that I was not happy with from the initial install The owner saw to it that the install was done to my satisfaction and was at the job to personally ensure that everything was on track.
We are new to the area and I knew that we wanted to add a tankless water heater and a filtration system to the furnace. We shopped around and found Elkhorn HVAC very knowledgable and recommended by the manufacturing companies.
Gary was not only knowledgable but willing to explained answer all questions. Rick and his installation crew were efficient and respectful to us and our home.
I plan on using them for any of our future needs. I had them come out on November 20th because I had no heat.
Initial visit went well. They said I needed a new pressure switch and took it with them.
They rigged the furnace so it would work until they came back with the switch. With the craziness of the holidays it was the day after Christmas that I called them again because they hadn't come back.
I was told they would get to the bottom of it and call me back. Today is January 5th so I called them again after still not hearing from them.
At this point I was informed it would cost me an additional $300 for them to come back out and put in the part. I will Never be using this company again.
We had Elkhorn add a new duct to an unheated room in the basement. The work was done promptly, it was of good quality, and on budget.
Elkhorn also cleaned and did routine maintenance on our furnace. Up to this point, in 18 months, the furnace had been working great.
A few days later, the furnace went out. When we called Elkhorn, they told us it would be $99 to come out.
I argued that the furnace worked fine until they worked on it, then it was on the fritz. An unprofessional and ugly yelling match broke out with the dude on the phone, and in the end, he made no promises about charging us one way or another.
Turned out it was a loose electrical connection- he jiggled the right wire and went on his way. Three weeks later, the igniter, which had a crack, broke.
We called a different company to do the work. I find it hard to believe that it broke out of a coincidence.
If this piece was going bad, it should've been fixed in the $150 inspection and cleaning. I bust my ass all week at my job.
I think I do it damn well. When I do something and say 'it's done'- it's done.
Everything I can take care of, I do, no loose ends and no broken pieces. I expect the same from everyone, especially if they get paid $100 an hour: you better do your job and do it well.
Elkhorn did not do their job well, and gave me BS excuses about it. BTW, the 2 stars is because the duct work was good.
Everything else was a catastrophe. Call someone -anyone- else for heating and cooling work.
Last weekend I spoke with someone at the Colorado Garden and Home Show where Elkhorn had a booth. I wasn't even interested in any heating or a/c products but noticed their whole home humidifier and spoke to one of their super-nice sales people.
It sounded like a really good thing (and a good deal), so I signed up. Promptly on Monday I received a follow-up call and scheduled the appointment for Wednesday.
On Wednesday, we had the installation done and I was excited to get home and check out our new system. When I went down to my basement, the first thing I noticed were some squares on my carpet where it looks like the technician put a toolbox or other such thing (my husband actually observed that it was some kind of a square pail where he had his tools).
I photographed the damage and called them the very next day. When I called, the employee who answered the phone (Phil) explained that there were no managers available because they were all at the home show.
He said that if I sent pictures, he would see what he could do and give me a call back. The day passed and no call.
I called that evening to see if I could get a status update. He said he got the pictures and needed some more information (once again, he could have called me to get the needed information rather than relying on me to call back).
I was told that I would get a call from a manager the next morning. Next morning.
No call. I call yet again.
Talk to Cecilia this time but she knows that I'm already dealing with Phil and quickly shuffles me over to him. By this point I'm starting to really get angry, although it's difficult to tell if it's Phil not escalating my problem, or these elusive "managers" not having a sense of urgency.
Phil does have some information for me - and basically tells me that the technician has denied leaving any kind of marks on my carpet and that it couldn't have been left by his toolbox because his tools are in a bag. Wow.
Nothing like pretty much calling me a liar. I ask for a number to call a manager myself, but I'm told that he can't give it to me.
He said that he would once again pass on my information. It was not until I mentioned that I would be visiting them again at their booth down at the garden & home show to resolve my issue in person...
with my pictures... while they're trying to sell product to other clients that I finally got a call back from the owner.
Gary (the owner) finally did agree to come to our house and look at the damage. After again stating that he didn't understand how any of his workers' tools could make that kind of mark he showed up at our house on Friday.
Once he was here, he admitted that yes, that was something that his guy had done and they would pay for the cleaning. While they did make it right, I am still waiting for an apology.
It's amazing how far a heartfelt apology goes when something like this happens, but not one person throughout the process so much as apologized. I'm not typically a picky person, and the carpet cleaners didn't seem to have much trouble cleaning the spots, but what's right is right and what's wrong is wrong.
As a customer, you shouldn't have to press a company to make something right. The only reason they are getting a second star is because the humidifier itself is working great and was expertly installed.
Just wish they had done a better job being careful in my home and giving a damn when something went awry. Horrible company.
Owner told me that they would finish the job they started after $1000 in labor was spent. She lied and had her receptionist tell me that they were done with me.
Now I have to call another company to finish the job and they wasted my time and money. Don't use!!! Rude and incompetent! This was the third mechanical contractor I had to the house to fix the tankless water heater that came with our home.
All contractors were found through the Rinnai website, as certified dealer/servicer businesses. The first company came back 6-7 times, had plenty of theories about what was wrong and how to fix it, and then quit calling me back after the problem wasn't fixed, months in.
The second company also had grandiose concepts to get things fixed, and again after multiple approaches and many trips to the house, the unit was still broken and he also stopped returning my calls. Did I mention they were all happy to cash my checks without fixing the problem, for a grand total of over $500? Finally I found Elkhorn.
When I initially called, Carol listened to my tale of dispair, and let me bitch about how we hadn't been able to take a shower without the hot water going out on me, in over a year. She listened to all my whining, sounded genuinely sympathetic, and told me they would make it right.
That they did. She said they would send their best 'Rinnai guy'.
John showed up early to the appointment, 1-business day after I called, and he knew his business. He was very professional and friendly, and got along great with my pets.
He even put covers over his boots to protect the wood floors. He immediately diagnosed the problem, within 10-minutes of arrival.
He figures out that the unit was calibrated from the factory to run perfectly at sea level, and had never been adjusted to run right at Denver's altitude. The original installer and both subsequent contracting companies had all overlooked a very basic component of how these things work, which they should have known.
They had cited moths, ventilation issues, incoming gas service pressure problems from Xcel, and other things. Within an hour, John had adjusted all the pressures of the unit to run correctly at Denver's altitude, and bam, problem solved! I was shocked at how easily Elkhorn fixed the problem that others had given up on.
I am more than satisfied, and give the crew that helped me, Carol and John, props for following through on my project and getting the job done. I wish all contractors operated like these guys.
Our house was built in 1912 and the old gravity boiler was replaced a few years ago by the previous owners to an updated boiler. Unfortunately, the company who did that work in our 3000+ sq ft, four story home didn't concern themselves with updating the piping.
Needless to say, our heating was very uneven. I spent a few months talking to different companies to figure out exactly where the problem lay and what might be the best solution.
It wasn't until Fuzzy showed up that I felt I was talking to someone who really knew what he was doing. In December, Elkhorn replaced our faulty boiler with a state of the art boiler, re-piped to maximize efficiency and for the first time we can spend time comfortably on the main floor of our home.
Kind of important since the kitchen, dining room and living room are all on the main floor. Fuzzy and his team did a wonderful job.
Showed up on time and finished when they said they were going to. They were also able to accommodate changes that I requested during the course of the installation.
Any questions or small things that have come up since are promptly attended to and we are extremely pleased with the work. I have been and will continue to recommend Elkhorn to anyone who needs help with their homes heating system needs.
Charged over $500 for a part that cost less than $50! My mistake...I should have investigated the cost of the part before agreeing to the repair. In their defense, they bundle the labor charge and business overhead into the charge for the part.
But labor took well less than 1 hr. Pop the cover, pull the old part, insert the new.
Advice--if you get an estimate from this company, do not sign/authorize the work agreement without getting another estimate or two. Also, if they pull a part, get the part number and check the price yourself.
You decide for yourself if a 1000% markup is consistent with ethical business practice. Called Elkhorn for a routine furnace checkup.
They sent out Sam the next day and he was thorough and knowledgeable. I would be comfortable calling them again.
Elkhorn installed a furnace a few years ago and an air conditioner last year at our home. It was a great experience from the first estimate to the final inspection! This year they installed both a Trane furnace and AC in our new home.
The owner did the estimate and addressed each detail of the installation procedure. The price was very competitive.
The installers were prompt, efficient, knowledgeable, and friendly. They explained the awesome thermostat and features of the new energy efficient systems in a way a baby boomer could understand! Fantastic group of people! All the way from the kind woman that answered the phone, to the minute the guys left, this company is professional and caring.
The poor woman that answered the phone had to listen to me freak out that my AC went out, and I'm about to have all kinds of people over for my wedding next week. She listened and took care of me, she had the guys out the SAME DAY! Other places I called were booked for weeks and charged $40 more just to come out and diagnose.
The guys were clean, nice, and smart. They had my AC up and running in 20 minutes.
They went the extra mile and made sure everything was working perfectly. Their prices are super low, but that's not why I'm recommending them, it's because of their PROFESSIONAL SERVICE.
Use them! We had Elkhorn service our AC units a couple of weeks ago. The tech had to come back the next day as his instrument damaged something with the freon line and the unit was not cooling.
He fixed it, no charge. Then 3 days later we noticed the wall and carpet were wet from the upstairs unit.
There was a huge drip coming from the unit that happened after the tech had come out. A different tech came out and couldn't figure out what was wrong but flushed the system and moved the drip pan to catch any more water.
Again no charge. I called Elkhorn today and talked to a manager.
She told me that there is no way the first tech caused the leak. WOW! And told me that the unit upstairs can't even really be serviced.
We have lived in the house for 8 years and NEVER had an issue with the AC units before. I am sorry that I gave them a try.
The manager doesn't know the meaning of customer service. Technician showed up on time which is great, but came to the door and said he didn't know what he was even here to address.
Gave me a couple options and said he'd have the office call me, office never called me so I had to call and myself to take care of the rescheduling. Called in, and the office gal was very rude and not willing to help out.
She didn't want to send the technician back out, as we discussed, telling me to address One issue before they could begin handling the other. Technician didn't relay that message to me, and had said I could have this second issue checked out before moving on with the other so we can figure out what the best option was, either to replace or to repair.
Needless to say this has been $90 very poorly spent and I will never do business with this company nor recommend them to anyone. We were very disappointed with this company.
I called them because my furnace was not working. They said they charge $89.00 for a diagnostic fee.
I told her we had had problems in the past with the electric panel. When 2 guys showed up I told them it might be the elec panel.
They found a loose wire & connected it. Then came the bill.
$134.37 to connect wire plus $89.00 to diagnose. REALLY Had issue with 8.5 yr old Trane thermostat not controlling 8.5 yr old Trane furnace.
Have thermostat set at 68 degrees and thermostat "inside temp" display said it was currently only 62 degrees in the house, so it would take 6-10 hours for temperature to rise to the 68 set point temperature, the furnace running the entire time. This has been an issue since the furnace was installed and the installation company (another Trane dealer) checked the system a few times and could find no problem.
We knew the house temp was much warmer than the thermostat "inside temp" was displaying, so today I used a precision meat thermometer to check the temperature at the thermostat and it read 78 degrees in the house, not the 62 degrees as shown on the thermostat "inside temp" display. I thought maybe we had a faulty thermostat and decided to contact Elkhorn.
I spoke to Kimberly and she arranged for a technician to arrive 2 hours later. After explaining the issue to the technician, Mike, he diagnosed the problem within 10 minutes.
The problem all along has been the cavity in the wall behind where the thermostat is mounted has a cold draft coming up between the studs and the hole in the wall behind the thermostat mounting plate (for the thermostat wiring to come thru) was allowing the cold air to constantly contact the thermostat temperature sensor, telling the thermostat set point sensor to keep the furnace running. Mike placed insulation in the wall cavity and also covered the opening behind the mounting plate with insulation tape to prevent any cavity air from affecting the thermostat temperature sensing bulb.
Within 10 minutes, the thermostat "inside temp" reading rose to 78 degrees, matching Mike's hand held temperature gauge that he uses to compare actual readings. So the problem was resolved very quickly and efficiently.
Elkhorn has certainly gained our trust for future HVAC annual maintenance and any other HVAC needs. Thanks again to Kimberly and Mike for the quick response, diagnosis, and professional service! We had Elkhorn come out to give us a quote on a new furnace and central air install.
After no word from them for 2 weeks I emailed requesting the quote. The next day I finally got a call (he said he spaced on getting us the quote, blamed it on Thanksgiving).
He mentioned needing to move some duct work and repositioning the furnace. What? This was never mentioned during the walk through for the quote.
I'm not sure he was looking at the quote for the correct house. I have no confidence in this company.
And the $6800 price tag for a 1 stage furnace is a no-go. One of the most disrespectful places I have ever dealt with.
The woman on the phone was very snappy and quite frankly a complete bitch. Upon sending a repair man to my house, he tells me everything is fine and i promptly paid my 90$ service fee.
A day later, the problem appears again. They come out again, and again, and again, swearing the problem is fixed.
After 3 service workers come, the problem is still not fixed, and I am out of $270, all for nothing. Elkhorn is not worth your time They did a great job installing our air conditioning.
Everyone was nice and professional and the end price was the same as we were quoted. We have had A/C now for 6 years and it has been problem-free.
I have had experiences with Elkhorn over a few years now. They did some zoning work on our house, and at first, I was impressed with how many times they were willing to show up to repair things that were not working after the install.
They were always nice and showed up quickly. Apparently, the dampers they had used were faulty, they quickly stopped using them after they had to replace many in houses around Denver.
Soon, however, it seemed they were always here fixing something that had not been done correctly the first time. Finally, we were done with each other.
More than a year passed. When our furnace and A/C went a few months ago, we decided to go with another company.
We did not want another full year of A/C guys coming in and out of the house doing things in a trial by error way, pretending to be experts. But soon after, we could hear loud noises that reminded us of our previous damper issues.
I called the second company, who said that since they had not done the duct work, they would need to rip up the ceiling in our basement to figure out the exact location of the noise. So, hoping to avoid that and knowing that Elkhorn was more than familiar for the home's duct work, I called Elkhorn requesting a service appointment to try to diagnose the problem.
A day later, a service manager called. The first Elkhorn employee to ever be rude.
Really obnoxious. First, he said they would not come out because another company had installed the new furnace and A/C, and they were not in the business of fixing other people's mistakes.
When I said it was reminiscent of the damper issues, he basically accused me of making up the damper issue so they would come. I will never call them again.
Last night my heat when out. I called another company and while they were polite, the words they chose to use with me led me to believe that I was inconveniencing them.
I hung up with no resolution and my family freezing. At 6:19am this morning I called and left a message for someone to call me back.
At 8:05am I received a call from Jennifer to schedule my service. They had an open window between 11-1.
I explained that I had to go to work and Jennifer said that she would call when the tech was being dispatched. This was great as I could work instead of sitting at home waiting.
I received a call from her (as promised) at 9:51am. He was already on his way to my house! Casey was able to fix my problem quickly and now we have heat.
The price was reasonable too (granted my problem wasn't a huge undertaking). I have found a new HVAC company.
We had these guys install a swamp cooler for our house last summer. At first I was happy with the installation until we got our first hard rain and I noticed water was dripping through the vent cover.
They came out promptly and resealed all the cracks, however it still slightly leaks when it rains hard. I was also not happy when winter rolled around and it came time to winterize the unit and put the solid barrier piece in the vent cover to block the elements.
The vent cover is on the ceiling at the top of my staircase. Instead of orienting the vent cover in the ideal way such that I could stand at the top of my stairs and insert the barrier, they oriented it the complete opposite way so I either get to haul a ladder in from the garage and prop it up against the wall on the staircase or have to lean over the banister with my wife holding me from falling to put it in.
For what I paid them for the install I would have thought they would be a little more competent in that regard. Other than that the unit works great.
The guys that came to install and fix the unit have been very friendly and professional.'''.
