Review and analyze now for company Coffman & Company and provide the analysis in the discussed format for the following reviews: '''After 30 years in home without AC, we just had Coffman install a Carrier heat pump! The team arrived right on time, spent the good part of the day on install without issue and instructions on unit was explained well before leaving. Property inside and out was cleaned up to my satisfaction.
Very good service/new install experience overall and I would recommend Coffman to anyone. Hopefully rebate with Xcel Energy will help with costs.
I forgot to update my review! After many repeat come out visits they finally had a Master Engineer come out and look at the system. After about an hour of troubleshooting he discovered the issue.
The waterline (if I remember correctly) wasn't giving the system enough of what it needs. He addressed it and the house now cools properly and isn't on for hours at a time.
That said their customer service is super great. I decided to hire them again to maintain the furnace at our new place (sold and bought a new house) and as per usual the customer service was really good HOWEVER the technician forgot to tighten our gas line to the furnace.
We noticed a gas smell and had to call Xcel in to investigate. They discovered the loose line and tightened it.
Kind of a serious oversight! I didn't dock any stars for it, but I do feel like additional training or checklists should maybe be used before a tech leaves a home. Our parents have the Coffman service contract.
They are elderly so we try to help schedule services as needed. Coffman has been to their home a minimum of 6 times this winter season for the furnace not heating.
This is a major problem for a 91 year old that is cold when the home is at 78 degrees. They are supposedly coming out for the second time this week because when they came Monday and charged over $200 the problem was NOT fixed.
Every time they come out it is OVER $200 even with the "service contract". At this rate a new furnace could have been installed for less money.
Shame on Coffman for taking advantage of the elderly! best repair company we have used very honest saved us thousands of dollars will alway call in the future office staff was great and Kyle. 12/18.
New install 2 days ago. There had been many issues over past 7.5 months.
Now - new furnace, coils, humidifier. John improved the return ducts, increasing grill size, reducing their noise level.
The furnace originally installed may have been the wrong model furnace for my home & my preferences, it was very poorly installed (about 10 subsequent service visits), and the furnace turned out to be defective. I have to give Coffman credit.
Anyone can have a bad employee, or install a furnace that has defects. I had to be quite persistent, but they stood by their commitment to the customer and made it right, including extending the service contract.
However, I have already found some issues with the new install. Very frustrating.
Hopefully some more "adjustments" by Coffman will get this review to 4 stars. 1/7/23 edit : Yes.
Subsequent visit helped. 12/14/22 After additional communication with Traci, just had co-gm John here at my house to evaluate the situation.
Finally someone found the gas leak I had been complaining about, that multiple Coffman people couldn't find, and said was "fine". John also agreed that some other things were not great.
We agreed on a plan going forward. I didn't get everything I would have liked, but it is a reasonable plan.
Will update this review again after the plan is implemented (includes installation of a new furnace). John also says Coffman will pro-actively work with other folks that had the guy that did bad installs.
12/10/22 update. Jake did 7-8 fixes on 12/8.
He did not do the full evaluation that I had requested from Traci, only fixed some of the known issues. Since a couple of replacement parts were needed, he also scheduled someone else that replaced 2 more things on 12/9.
Issue : Not a full evaluation of a bad install by an known incompetent, and since fired, employee. What happens a year from now, or 5 years from now, as other problems pop-up ? We are no where near sufficient remediation.
At a minimum, I need payment for damage done to my home, plus free maintenance on this system forever. And what about other victims of this bad installer ? From the many techs that have been to my home in the past 6 months, I hear that Coffman has responded to service calls from some of those folks and done some fixes, but has not pro-actively reached out to all those customers, and evaluated and repaired/replaced their systems.
To me that seems like a very poor business decision - maximizing profits and endangering customers. What do you do on a Sunday night when your water heater starts leaking all over your basement? You call Coffman.
I called on a Sunday night and left a voicemail expecting a call back Monday morning. Tracy called me right then and reassured me that we'd have a working hot water heater ASAP.
She called the next morning and Corey and Trey were at our home by 9:00 sharp. They were fast, friendly, clean and efficient.
So appreciative of their fast service on a holiday week! It was the best hot shower I've had! We just got the full Monty! Furnace, water heater, AC, HEPA air filter and Remy Halo UV light for indoor air quality. Very reasonable pricing, amazing customer service and quick! They were on time, laid down canvas to keep my carpet clean, and disposed of all my old equipment.
I would use them again and highly recommend them. Above and beyond customer service! This company was SO very easy to work with, from day one.
I had several bids from other companies, and felt that they were just trying to take my money. I do my research, and I know what the cost should be for what I wanted.
When I called Coffman, I hoped this would be the last bid I'd have to do. Well, it WAS! Jake was wonderful to work with, quick to respond once I had other questions, and we chose to go with Coffman for a new furnace and A/C and whole House humidifier.
When Alan and his crew came out, they were prompt, extremely courteous, efficient and clean. I was more than impressed.
Alan, in particular; is such a stand up young man, who did a few extra things on our system to make it even better. I have some faith in humanity again.
Thank YOU guys!! We live in a Bungalow in Wash Park, with three thermostats for two bedrooms and the rest of the house. The heat in one bedroom would not shut off.
My landlord sent Coffman and Company. Cliff arrived punctually, with heaps of experience and patience.
I followed him around in the basement for an hour. Imagine the New York subway system without maps or signs.
He found his way through hundreds of wires from the furnace to the hot water heater to the electric panel to the thermostats, thinking of possible problems, eliminating them as he tried one thing methodically after another. He went into the crawl space twice without complaint.
After an hour, I went back upstairs. Cliff stayed at it for 90 more minutes, until he found the problem.
I was astonished that after all this, Cliff apologized that he had "lost track of time" and that the part could not be ordered until the next day. I was touched by Cliff's mildness, integrity and humility.
You can expect the same from the dispatcher, Debbie. overpriced - take advantage of home sellers, jsut needed compressor and charged as much as whole new Ac unit We live in Aurora and needed routine cleaning and inspection on our air conditioner and furnace.
Coffman called the day before to confirm the appointment and again the next day to say the technician was on his way. Todd arrived at the expected time and was extremely polite and professional, taking care to wear booties in our home which was much appreciated.
He took time to explain what he was going to do, and then spent a few more minutes talking to us when we asked about possible options when it's time to replace the heating and AC units. No scare tactics that we have to replace right away, just a pleasant professional conversation.
Excellent experience and highly recommended. Wow.
How great Tom was! He came out to service our equipment for the first time since we've moved in. He took the time to explain everything to us and was just so very very nice and thorough.
He gave us several tips on how to optimize our complicated system, and we took notes. It could not have been a better experience! Great company! They were on time, super friendly, and did an amazing job.
They even left the areas they were working in cleaner than before they came. I would definitely recommend them 100%! After shopping around I ended up going with Coffman & Co and am very happy I did.
They did an absolutely amazing job replacing my AC and Furnace. Nate and Tyler were very professional and explained everything that needed to happen in Laymans terms.
Also, they found and replaced multiple electrical outlets that were out in my house and did not charge me. Great guys.
We bought an air conditioner from Coffman about 3 years ago. We have had considerable problems, but Coffman has stood solidly behind their product and have made multiple repairs under warranty.
One suggestion is you must ask for Jake, their lead repair/installer man to fix things. We had bad experiences with others, who said it was normal for water to drip through the ceiling and for the house to be hot.
Jake took the bull by the horns and fixed all the issues at minimal cost to us. Very refreshing to see a company fix the problems, although it would have been better to install our expensive 2 stage air conditioner properly from the start.
I had an old water heater that needed to be replaced and Tom gave me a quote and all parts I needed, if I wanted to replace my old water heater with the one from Home Depot. He did a great job and saved me $$$ compared to other companies, which quotes were by 100s $ higher.
He also was able to quickly diagnose and fix a problem with my AC. Many thanks to Tom! I called Cimarron Engineering Inc., dba Coffman / B&F Heating and A/C to provide me an estimate to replace a hot water heater that they had installed about 5 years ago.
The water heater was still under warranty and originally cost about $800 for both the actual water heater and installation. They quoted me $799 for just the installation of a new water heater, plus another $520 to install a pressure reducing valve and $198 for an expansion tank.
I thought these prices were too high and called another plumber who did the whole job for $250. This plumber indicated the water pressure was well within normal limits and I did not need the pressure reducing valve.
All I can say is RIP-OFF. Had them out to shut down a cooler and the guy was on the roof for less than 10 min and it cost $129.
With the recent temperature drops I had already disconnected the water line and put on vent covers, which took about 10 min as well (only that didn't cost $129). I asked what it would have cost had I not done that and he said it would have been included in the price, so I asked if there was a discount since I had already done half the work and he just shrugged it off with a confused look on his face.
Call anyone one else unless you think $129 per 10 min is a good way to spend your money!! Cliff just came out to do an inspection on my furnace. As he is the 3rd HVAC tech to inspect my furnace this week I can say he was absolutely the most thorough and informative.
He was kind and friendly and helpful. Really made me trust him and the company.
I really appreciated his expertise and time. I have used this company for years and the technicians have always been knowledgeable, polite, on time and efficient.
Never any complaints. They installed my furnace over 10 years ago and it finally died in the big flood last year.
It lasted a good long time with no problems. This was the best experience we ever had with a heating company.
After Heidi Hemmat did her television expose, Brothers came over and did the exact thing she warned everyone about- said ours was SHOT and we HAD to have a new one for $6,000! We fixed it ourselves with a part we ordered for $189!!!!! A week or so later, another part broke that we were unable to fix. Coffman - Cliff and Nate - came and did an amazing and outstanding job completely renovating and fixing and replacing all parts for $628.
Don't go anywhere else for heating. These guys Rock.
They are polite and they are HONEST. Tom from Coffman was just at our house because of water leaking from our boiler which we couldn't trace.
A search found water in a part of the pump that shouldn't have been there and Tom was able to trace the leak to a nut valve that somehow had distorted and was not sealing tight. He thought he might have to replace the pump but was able to find the exact same part on a pump in his van and with that replacement the problem was solved.
Cost - a trip charge and a charge for 1/2 hour of time. Prompt, professional, honest and courteous.
Highest recommendation. I have used this company to install HVAC systems for three different properties and have never been disappointed.
While I always shop around to see if someone will be better, I never find that to be the case. They won't necessarily be the cheapest, but they also won't be the most expensive.
They will, however, be amongst the most knowledgeable and most polite. Any recommendations that they make will be explained in as much detail as you need as well as any decisions regarding that need to be made.
Importantly, this company always treats you with courtesy. It's no wonder that Tom Martino endorsed them and that Pat Bowlen uses them.
I contacted and received bids from 5 different contractors to replace both my furnace and my A/C. Jake and Coffman were the lowest and were very upfront to deal with.
They came out within a week. Did the job in a day.
Everyone was courteous, clean, and so helpful. Jake even fixed a leaky hot water pipe going to my HW heater at no extra charge.
When the weather warms enough, they are returning to commission my A/C so that I can get the Xcel rebate. I highly recommend these guys.
My air conditioning didn't work properly and I called Coffman Air and Heating company. Unfortunately my most reliable, service oriented technician, Cliff Van Dyke wasn't available.
Someone else would be able to check the air conditioning that same day. Window of time for the tech to come was between 3-5pm.
Up to this point, I was well pleased. When we experienced issues, we called for professional service expecting solution.
We are aware there will be charges to have a tech reviewing the issue. To solve the issue would be additional.
The technician arrived at 4:15pm (a Friday). He checked the problem and said the disconnect needed replacement.
The tech was fully aware what we wanted, what we needed out of the visit. The AC needed to work.
It was a sweltering hot day (I assumed the company would make arrangements to make my AC work again). He presented the bill, I signed, expecting the issue would be taken care off.
Not long after, the tech called to inform that I would need an electrician. He didn't provide a name nor number for me to call.
I thought with Google this is a piece of cake. Big mistake! Try to find an electrician on a Saturday and Sunday! None was available.
Thankfully other HVAC companies responded and took care of business promptly and efficiently. My AC is working again, my weekend saved, if only temporarily until a permanent solution is decided upon.
THAT is what I called service, THAT's what professional company do, THAT's what "looking after customers" is all about. Not Coffman Plumbing, Heating and AC/HVAC.
Their response was: "We no longer have an in-house electrician. We charge for techs to diagnose an issue.
We have been around for many many years, we look after our customers" ........... I guess I am not their customer.
I certainly don't feel I am being looked after. Thank goodness there are many better options out there.'''.
