Michael & Jordan came to my rescue and traced the pipe, dug it up and replaced the broken segment. They also replaced my valve and leaking spigot, all while getting rained on.
They were fast, reasonable and left everything looking nice and neat! I had a very good experience working with Michael and Ability Plumbing. We had a leak in our washing machine drain line and Jordan came out to snake it for us.
It worked for a while but as it was very old with hard clogs, we knew it would ultimately have to be replaced eventually. When it clogged again, Michael came back out to check it again at no cost and while snaking the very fragile pipe - it broke.
He replaced the pipe from cast iron to ABS at ZERO charge to me since it broke while he was working. No issues since.
We had Michael come back and bid for a replacement of our entire sewer system. He took me step by step through what he saw, what he recommended and cleared a pretty big clog along the way while charging me very little.
Although we decided to move forward with a different company for the big job due to financial reasons alone, Michael and his team deserve recognition for their customer service, responsiveness and willingness to help. It felt honest and that is not always the norm with some tradesman.

Thank you Jordan! UNEXPECTED SUPRISE It was time again to review my monthly water bill and pay it. To my shock it was 3 times the cost of the previous months.
I walked the house to listen to see if I could find a leak causing the change in the water bill. Nothing was apparent WHAT TO DO NEXT? I called the water company and they looked on their digital readings and confirmed that there seemed to be a large leak somewhere according to the digital meter on their end.
This kind of under ground leak is called a slab leak. My sister told me she knew someone that did not fix a slab leak for two years to avoid the cost fixing it and paid the higher cost monthly.
This person ended up getting so sick two years later they ended up in the hospital with black mold poisoning. I was not going to let tht happen to me.
I needed help to solve this. SEARCH FOR A PLUMBER I spent a few hours looking through reviews on Yelp.
I did searches for "reliable,", "honest", "reasonable", "fair". I found a long list and started reading all of the reviews.
I finally chose Ability Plumbing because of a story I read in there of how Mike the owner had helped an stranded old woman that needed a ride to the trolley and no one would help her and he helped her get giving her a ride to the trolley. This review was written by someone that did not have Ability Plumbing fix a plumbing issue but was impressed by the chivalry Mike offered.
That tells me a lot about Mike and his character.that character flows up into the Ability Plumbing business owned by Mike.. PLUMBING WORK ESTIMATE Mike came and reviewed the house and sent me an estimate.
I had one other plumbing company send an estimate and it was ballpark same as Ability Plumbing. I did not expect a bargain basement estimate but feared it could be over $10,000 to fix.
This was not the case thank goodness. Note, I was not looking for a bargain deal.
Any plumber that offered a too good to be true price would in my view probably end up with leaks I would have to deal with down the line. THE SLAB LEAK IS FIXED NOW, WORK DONE WAS EXCEPTIONAL Mike and his team Chris, and Tim arrived on time there was also a representative from CPL (a leak detection company that works with Mike to help isolate the slab leak).
The leak was not easy to find but they found it. Some companies want to dig up the cement and go into the underground pipes.
This is very expensive $10,000 plus. Progressive plumbers like Mike at Ability Plumbing replumb the piping with a new above ground (creatively hidden in existing drywall solutions).
They do this by cutting minimal holes into the wall and running state of the art plastic piping through the walls. Mike and his team replumbed my complete cold water delivery system at the estimated rate he had quoted me on.
Ability Plumbing worked fast and were professional and accurate and the holes they cut in the wall were as minimal to accomplish the cold water reroute which later resulted in minimal work for me to spackle and paint the holes post work. ABOVE AND BEYOND.
Mike included in the estimate the cost to put in a water shut off valve at my garage entrance and a water pressure valve. This was unexpected and included in the bid that the other plumbing company did not, making the Ability Plumbing bid more reasonable.
Chris one of the plumber assistants cut the holes needed in the drywall for the job square and when the plumbing rework was done he screwed the drywall back into the wall. I was so impressed by this and it was totally unexpected and made it easy so I was able to do the post spackle prep work myself to repaint the areas that needed to be cut into the drywall for the water reroute without having to pay a company to come in and do the post finish work for me.
This is a big cost savings. I was able to spackle all of the holes cut out myself thanks to Chris's work done to put the drywall back and screw each piece in place (thank you Chris!).
I also had a leaking faucet in the patio that Mike had Tim fix at no cost. Mike left the team in the morning to work the plumbing reroute work and came back later to inspect the work done.
Mike was very was very thorough in his inspection and made sure that everything was done at a top notch quality level. All I can say is "Wow!" I am so happy with the work done and would definitely have Ability Plumbing do future jobs.

I know I will have him on speed dial I had a plumbing backup issue in my rental property on a Friday afternoon. Mike came out and evaluated the situation and tried to fix it.

We called Ability and they tried to come out that day, but could not. They scheduled an appointment to come on Monday.
They were prompt (pulled in 2 minutes behind me), got right to the issue and were finished before I even knew it. Back in business before the hot water was needed! Mike and his crew are awesome!!! They fixed my plumbing issue quick and they are super honest and friendly.
I highly recommend this great team of guys Seven months before we purchased our house, Ability Plumbing installed a Noritz brand tankless water heater, paid for by the previous owner. As we are new to this technology, we called them, and they sent someone out to fully check its functioning, and to explain to us what to expect from such a heater.
We had been having trouble with the water pressure in our shower, and changes in temperature. Their technicians noted the problem in our shower valve, and replaced the core, significantly improving the function of our shower.
We learned what to expect from a tankless heater. During this process, the technicians noted that our water regulator, at the main inlet valve, wasn't functioning well, and needed replacement.
The regulator was the major cause of the varying pressure. As we had purchased a "whole house warranty" to cover the cost of unexpected repairs, we had the warranty recommended plumbers come to do this work.
That company (for now we'll leave nameless) denied that the water regulator was in any way needing replacement. Further, they complained they could not remove the shower valve handle, claiming that the internal hex screw was tightened too tight by Ability, and that they needed to cut off the valve handle, and have a new one put on.
Not being sure about who to trust, we called Ability again, and the owner Michael came out personally to address our concerns, AT NO CHARGE. Michael spent 30 minutes with us, easily removing the offending screw.
He again tested the pressure regulator and fully explained how and why the regulator was not functioning well, even as he knew we would not be paying him to do the repair. We took a video to document the varying pressure, and Michael wrote up a detailed explanation of what was wrong, for us to use with the home warranty recommended repair service.
He charged us nothing for this service. I confidently recommend Ability Plumbing for all your plumbing needs.

We had the unfortunate experience of having an underground pipe in our front yard spring a leak. After interviewing over 7 plumbers, we finally settled on Ability Plumbing for one specific reason--the integrity of the employees of this company.
Mike and Long were not your typical 'salesman' who wanted to fix everything 'under the sun' even if unnecessary. They actually tried to save us money to get the job done and when it seemed like the 'quick and dirty' would not work, they suggested an alternative which still was more competitive than what others had quoted--even without assessing the job at hand.

Mike and his team came to our rescue after being totally taken advantage of by another locally owned plumbing company when we had a leak in our garage. After spending $4,400 to have pipes replaced we were told there was a clog and it would cost an additional $1,800 to unclog, and potentially MORE if pipes (or whatever) needed to be replaced.
On top of that, they were not able to complete the job, leaving us with no water for another day (with two small children). When we questioned the pricing and timing, we were yelled at and argued with.

I had a slow drain in my shower and they were very accommodating to come over at a time that was convenient for me. They came over, diagnosed the problem, and within fifteen minutes my drain was running good as new.

At a friend's suggestion, I called Ability Plumbing. Mike answered the phone, listened to our problem, and gave us a time window for the same day.
He called to let us know when he was on his way. He assessed the problem and suggested a temporary fix until he could get the right part the next day.
His temporary fix uncovered a far worse problem. Our pressure regulator was broken.
He made a trip to his plumbing supplier and was soon back to fix the problem. He was knowledgeable, fixed the problem for a reasonable price, and answered some other questions we had about our plumbing.

the first time I had them come out was for a slab leak and the second time was a sewer line clogged with tree root. For the slab leak, Mike and his team made the case to re-pipe our hot water lines rather than going through the slab to our association's management company (we live in a condo).
The remedy was quickly approved and the work was done without a problem. Then almost a year later we called them back out thinking we had a run-of-the-mill toilet clog, but turned out to be a line clog with tree roots.
Once again, after consulting with the management company, the line was cleared in accordance with the management company's approval, they cleaned up afterwards on their way out and everything is good again. Ability is outfitted to do any job including going through the slab if you really want them to, but Mike and his team always exercise good judgement and won't try to run your bill up unnecessarily.

Good advice and great customer service. In my 8 unit apartment complex in LA MESA, Mike came every time a toilet blocked, roots clogged a main sewer, when a hot water faucet popped off the sink and flooded the kitchen, when an inspector found the gas pipes had been partially piped with PVC piping, and the list goes on and on, and he would arrive as needed, that is, even late at night.
He originally worked with another pluming shop and even then he was impressive as a professional plumber and as an attentive worker. I called him once when the jumble of hoses that snake the property were leaking and I couldn't find out why.
He looked at the mess and found that corrosion at the main valve prevented the valve from closing completely something that I should have been able to see and fix easily, spent half an hour and said no charge it was an easy mistake. Water, sewage and gas are his specialties and customer service is his priority.
About 8 years of working with Mike have given me peace of mind about any plumbing problems I may have in my 3 houses in the future. He now has his own company and I hope he prospers while he provides a much needed service.
