The problem was that I had a Case wall mounted commercial style toilet installed in my home, a residential property, in West San Jose.
Several plumbers would not even take a look at it when I told them that I wanted a new wall mounted toilet installed here in my home. All that changed when I got the name and number of Moomau Plumbing from Heath at Rubenstein Supply Co.

She was very pleasant and helpful in discussing the specifics of my situation. She agreed that they would pickup my new toilet from Rubenstein on the way to my property! A two person team arrived at the scheduled time and date, the lead plumber named Billy was most knowledgeable and was able to see the unique problems that he faced.
Because of my situation, we had some discussions with Robert, the owner, to develop a specific plan of action. Work was scheduled to be done in the crawl space in the next couple of days so that a specialist could be scheduled to do the crawl space work.
Sorry, my story is getting too long, lol! I had discussions with Debbie and Robert to help insure that everything was kept on track. Robert made personal commitments to me to rush the job because of health issues in my family.
Everything was done as promised and both my wife and I are most happy to have a working toilet on the first floor of our home! [PS. My neighbors swear by Moomau Plumbing. I fortunately haven't needed a plumber for several years, but luck finally caught up with me when a shower temperature control valve and toilet both started acting up.
I gave Moomau a call and sent them pictures of the temperature control knob, along with the brand name. Billy showed up when promised/expected and had the needed parts with him.
He was very professional and efficient and got the work done quickly. Debbie, the office manager behind the scenes, was very responsive and easy to work with in setting up a convenient appointment time.
She also followed up after the fact to make sure I was satisfied with the work. Moomau seems to have high standards and take customer satisfaction very seriously, which is nice to see in the service business -- where it is often difficult just to get a call back when everyone is so busy.

Super accommodating. I have used Moomau three times in the last year and a half.
Each time they provided excellent service and were always on time. Billy is an excellent plumber and provides service above and beyond that is required.
He also gives great advice about the problem and how to avoid it in the future. I had them install a toilet and when they unpacked the toilet there was a hairline crack in the tank.
They went back to the supplier and returned with a new toilet. They did not charge me for the second trip because Billy said he should have seen it when he inspected the toilet.

As the house was in escrow, I needs to complete any repair work quickly. I spoke with Stephanie at Moomau Plumbing and she was very helpful, efficient and was able to schedule an appointment a few days later.
On 7/16, Billy arrived at the home and texted me to let me know he couldn't access the home. A quick call to the tenant, who was home and available, indicated that they didn't hear a doorbell or knock.
No worries, access problem solved. Billy went in.....and that's it..........
(The tenant said the plumber came in and said something about need a part replaced, but that he didn't have it. No mention of returning, only that they would get in touch with me.) I didn't hear from Moomau about what they found, no estimate, no request to proceed with work, nothing.
On 7/31, I received an email from Stephanie, to let me know that Billy was ready to schedule time to install "the part". I informed her that I hadn't received any communication or estimate of expected repairs, nor had I authorized any work.
In fact, when I didn't hear back from Moomau, I scheduled another plumber who was able to come out and complete a same day fix (for $75!!). Additionally, I informed her that I was no longer the owner as the house closed escrow a few weeks after Moomau's visit.
On 8/13, I received an invoice for $130, for a service call. Reluctantly, I paid the invoice because I appreciate small businesses and we should pay for services rendered.
But the lack of follow through and professionalism was disappointing. I'll echo the words shared by another reviewer, Ted O., in 2017.
- "Thanks for wasting my time and costing me money." This company did a great job with the plumbing job: Extended plumbing line under the house to move the washer over about 8 feet in the garage and also pulled the water line under the house from the kitchen sink to the back of the new refrigerator I bought. We have used this company in the past and I feel like they are very reliable and do good work.
Robert told me that if anything were to go wrong with his plumbing install, he would come back and fix it immediately, although he and I are not expecting any problems with this. Robert also showed me how to repair a few simple things on my own so I don't have to call a plumber out to fix something I could probably do myself.(I had requested this from him and he was more than happy to educate me).
My only one small complaint is that Robert took a while to get back to me with an estimate and I had to remind his billing secretary about that. She got after him they squeezed my job in quickly.
I am not too irritated about the delay because with the pandemic, all of these companies are absolutely swamped right now with everyone being home and wanting work done. I would still recommend this company to anyone who needs plumbing work.
Like other reviews say, Moomau is my go to plumbing company and they are fantastic, honest and reliable. I've had them out three times in the past 6 months (bad luck on my part).
The first time was a leak in the pipe to my water heater. They squeezed me in that day since it was a pretty big disaster in my basement, and did a great job fixing it at a reasonable rate.
The next time was when I was out of town and I learned from my neighbor that my water main line had cracked and I had a huge bubble of water under my front lawn. Moomau was able to come out, quote and give me all the options over the phone.
Debbie was great, making sure I fully understood my options and did not pressure me into the more expensive fix. This allowed me to continue my vacation, and have the line replaced.
I returned about halfway through the project, and was pleased to see that they did very clean work. They took care to not damage any plants and even the lawn that they had to remove was placed back with such care that it has all grown back.
You cannot tell there was a huge trench in my lawn at one point! The last time I had to call them was just a clogged drain and a small leak outside. Easy and affordable to fix.
These are great people and I will continue to use them if I have more plumbing needs....but let's hope that does not happen! We worked with Moomau to install the necessary plumbing for a water softener. Robert came out to do the quote and was very personable and easy to talk to, plus he was entertaining to my 3 and 5 year old! On the day of the job, one main plumber was here and Robert came and went with others.
At the end of the day they were almost done so he brought all hands on deck to finish the job by 6pm. They came back the next day to do some clean up.

Called them to schedule an estimate for a repipe of my house based on the stellar reviews on Nextdoor. The lady I spoke with was very nice.
She took my information and we scheduled at time for the estimate. She let me know that they schedule estimates for 2 hour windows since they don't know on a given day what other issues may pop up.
I was OK with that and took the time off work to be home. My window was scheduled for between 4 pm and 6 pm.
At 5:55 pm, I'm starting to wonder what is up. Then I see a truck pull up in front of my neighbor's house.
a guy in shorts and a tank top gets out and rings the doorbell. Nobody answers.
Then he walks back to his truck and my cell phone rings. They had the wrong address.
OK, people make mistakes, so as I was talking to him, I go out on the porch and wave to him. He comes over and comes in the house.
He introduced himself, but had no business card or notepad. He was also covered head-to-toe in dirt.
He must have just crawled out from under someone's house. OK, I get it, he's probably doing most of the work himself, but you would think that he would have said something like, "Sorry I'm such a mess, I just came from a job." Anyway, we walk around and talk about all of the things that need to be addressed in the repipe, but he has nothing to take notes on.
In the back of my mind, I'm thinking that he really doesn't want the job if he's not taking notes. After about 15 minutes, he leaves and says they will send a quote.
That was back in the first week of June 2017. I have yet to hear anything from them.
I took 2 hours of PTO to meet them and they didn't have the courtesy to follow through. Thanks for costing me money, Moomau.
As with some other reviewers, I was disappointed with Moomau both professionally and w/workmanship. I read through all of the great ratings and was happy to find and support a very local business.
I had a leak from an upstairs bathroom that filtered through to the bottom bath. It took them about a week to find from where the leak originated; they'd come back almost each day in between other projects.
In fact, Robert brought Billy with him on a few of those occasions. So as it turns out, I was paying for two people to find the leak for this period of time.
I made the mistake of telling them that my insurance would be paying for it and they took advantage of my trust. The total cost was over four figures for labor plus an $18 part.
And guess what? The pipe continued to leak. Because this accelerated my plans to remodel, out of curiosity I asked Moomau to come back to quote on replacing the still leaking pipe into a 2 inch pipe.
When I told Robert the pipe was still leaking, he didn't say one word, literally. He didn't say 'you should have called us back' or 'oh no that's not good'.
Not only that, he stepped-up onto the top of my toilet to look at the pipe area without taking off his shoes. I can't believe any of this was unintended.
I paid another local plumber for the remodel of two bathrooms and found another local plumber that I recommended to a neighbor (and that they used and were happy with). Bottom line is that Moomau lost my trust and additional business not only from me but my immediate neighbors.
After hearing very positive reviews on NextDoor and here on Yelp, I called Moomau Plumbing to help me with a bunch of issues I had with plumbing. First off, I like the fact that they didn't ask me; "Do you mind if I ask you who did your previous plumbing work?" I had Mike Council Plumbing come in and do an estimate and that's the first thing they asked me after doing their inspection.
After their $18,700 estimate, I told Mike Council not to let the door hit them on the way out. I made an appointment with Debbie who works with Robert Moomau and was pleasantly surprised to get a knock on my door by Robert himself a few days later.
He was very personable, and we went over all my plumbing concerns. After putting on his gear, he went under the house to perform an assessment.
Since it was later in the day, he would get back to me over email with an estimate. A few days later I get 3 estimates in 1 which I really appreciated.
They included the following: 1. What needs to be taken care of immediately 2.
What should be taken care of eventually (but not urgent now) 3. Price to install a Water Softener I thought the price was very reasonable and decided to go with all 3.
Several days later, Robert came out with a small crew and went to work. Robert and crew worked 2 days to clear up all my plumbing issues and I couldn't be more happier with the level of service and speed to which they came in and executed their services.
You always wonder when workers take too much time to complete tasks, but Robert got in completed the work and moved on. I liked that he had a contact for me to use for extra electrical work on the water softener and very happy and willing to recommend to anyone.
Debbie who manages the office is very sincere and genuine. I like that both Debbie and Robert grew up in this area and live where they work.

The best experience with a plumbing company. When I called they were scheduled out for the next two weeks, but they gave me information on what to ask and what to look out for when calling other plumbers.
She even gave me the name and number of one. After calling these other plumbers who had no interest in a small job or charged a fortune, I decided to wait it out and go with Moomau.
They got me in the next week and did a great job and a reasonable price!! Robert is a great guy and he knows his stuff. He is worth every dollar he charges.
Robert did the following work for us: Changed faulty gate valves on our "over-complicated" water system. Replaced our hot water heater from hell with a great tankless unit.
(Which I might add works awesome). Redid our plumbing in our new bathroom.
This was a huge job that required a lot of expertise. I live in the mountains of LG and we are on a septic, so the plumbing as to be 100%.
I plan on calling him back when we redo the upstairs plumbing. These guys were terrible.
We had a problem with our Instahot hot water heater under our kitchen sink. They assured us that they worked on it.
The plumber showed up and merely told my wife that we needed a new tank and our faucet was cheap. He recommended that she go out and buy the parts.
He didn't do any repairs, but they charged us $120.00. If you don't want someone to actually fix your plumbing, feel free to call these guys.

My house was built in 1930. They have never had to fix the same thing twice but have repaired numerous plumbing issues in my home.
They even introduced me to a cleaning product called Earth Brite that cleans the hard water build up off of my fixtures. Last time they were here for a clogged bathroom sink, Billy showed me that it was just hair, toothpaste and soap build up and told me about a plastic stick with teeth on it that I could buy at Home Depot for $2.50 to clean my drain so I wouldn't have to call them for a clogged drain again.
Not only does Moo Mau do excellent work, they are also professional, courteous and charge a fair price for their services. They are known around Willow Glen as the go to plumber in the neighborhood.

Called Moomau about a shower problem. Deb took the call and after giving her my address she indicated they had a plumber, Dave, working at my neighbors house across the street.

Debbie was always a delight to speak to. When they came out to install a two-way cleanout at my house, they discovered that a one-way cleanout had already been installed below the concrete, right where they were digging.
They explained to me my options - bring the existing cleanout up to grade, or install a new two-way cleanout - as well as the pros and cons of each, allowing me to make the final choice. Definitely would recommend them to anyone in the area.

I just hope I won't need to any time soon! This company over charge me $250 for installation new water heater. Original, the technician told me it may take 5 hours for installation and charge includes water heater is around $1200.
$650 for the new water heater and $550 for the labor - 5 hours job. The technician spent around two hours for Sheetrock repair - one hour to go back office to get the Sheetrock.
The technician installed the new water heater spent around 2 hours for removing old one and installed the new one. This Sheetrock repair cost me $80 and this price is fair.
But I cannot put the new paint on the Sheetrock - it's behind the new water heater.. This is bad.
The technician charged me $550 for ~2 hours installation and $650 for the new water heater. The labor is too expensive.
I checked Lowe's and they said only $300 for water heater installation. This company Moomau Plumbing overcharged me labor around $250.

They came to the house for a service call and later sent an invoice that's what I believe to be over twice as much as what a service call should cost. When I called the office to discuss the invoice the response that I got is we charge what we charge and you just have to pay it.

We were without our main bathroom for a month and thought we'd never have a working second bathroom in our newly purchased home. Robert came in to inspect and came up with a completely different solution than other commercial plumbers had suggested and the very next day he had us with 2 fully functioning bathrooms.
My husband made all the phone calls with Debbie and said she was great to work with as well. I have called Moomau three times - for two emergency appointments and one non-emergency.
For the initial contact, Debbie is amazing. She is so assured and reassuring, she can talk all the worry out of you in minutes.
And then she just works it so the job gets done! I won't go into particulars of the complete re-pipe job they did for us, because there are plenty of reviews about the great jobs they have done. I want to focus on what is most important to me, and that is finding a company with people of integrity and honesty, and a necessity on their part to do the right thing.
There are no sloppy shortcuts to hurry the job, and they did exactly what they said they would do and more. The employees demonstrate quality workmanship and treat your home with care and respect.

They are busy, so hard to get an appointment quickly. However, if it's an emergency situation...like we had...they are there, and work it into their schedule.
I waited two weeks for them to install our garbage disposal. We had been without one for so long, I didn't mind waiting.
It was worth the wait. Debbie was up front and said, they couldn't come out for a week or two out.
It was my choice to wait. A couple of weeks later, we ended up with a huge, major main line blockage.
They knew how bad it was, and they worked us in to the schedule. They are friendly, well priced, and great at their job.
While they weren't the lowest bid they weren't the highest either - AND they have the best customer service. Debbie the Office Manager is easy to work with and always in a great mood! Very helpful and knowledgeable - Debbie did a great job helping me understand what was going on, and what the potential solutions and complications were.
I got home after a 2 month vacation to find the carpets in my bedrooms soaking in water. I had no idea where the water was coming from and after a few desperate calls to plumbers who were unable to assist me, I finally got in touch with Moomau Plumbing.
Debbie who answered the phone understood the urgency of my situation and got Robert to come to my rescue the very next morning. Robert was a real blessing in disguise.
He thought it was a slab leak and asked me to contact my HOA. He also brought in a mold abatement company ERI who gave me a clear understanding of the magnitude of the water damage.
When my insurance company initially refused to cover my claim stating it was caused due to a slow leak, Robert stood by me and vouched for that not being the cause of the extensive water damage. My insurance company is now covering the damages and is working on all the repairs.
Unfortunately I am unable to use Robert for the repair work as the insurance company is taking the lead in providing repair work, but if I was ever in need of a plumbing company for any reason, Moomau would be my first and only choice. My friend referred me to Moomau plumbing.

I wish all my contractor experiences were like this. Robert Moomau and crew saved Thanksgiving for us -- he rolled up within minutes of my calling for help with a dead water heater.
I have no idea how he managed to work this job in between several others that were happening at the same time, but he and crew got the new heater bought, delivered, and installed -- and the old one hauled away -- before the day was through. At a reasonable cost, I might add, and after leaving all the plumbing shipshape and safe.
(Earlier in the day, a Home Depot installer had wanted to relocate the unit, punch holes in the walls, run new pipes, demolish cabinetry, and even lop off tree branches to make the installation work -- at quadruple the cost). This is the kind of neighborhood business that really, really earns its keep, and reminds you why Lowe's and Home Depot will never replace them.

We had a problem Friday and were having out of town guests. Their customer service and attitude was outstanding.
They were timely and we thought very fair priced. If we ever need a plumber again they'll be the one we call.
We had a couple issues going on, heater supply lines, a laundry drain that was backing up and a flow issue with hot water. Nice people, great service, reasonable and knowledgeable.
Highly recommend, Moomau is our go to plumber from now on. You are not going to find a better plumber than Robert Moomau or his workers.
