The plumber install the gasket wrong causing the drain to leak, so I requested they come back and fix it. Paul said his plumber accused me of changing it! Really? Paul comes out and fixes it but adds another pipe to the drain and charges me for that.

Finding a good plumber that you can rely and depend on is very hard. After reviewing Yelp, I decided to go with Whistle Plumbing to get a quote.

Whistle will be our plumber from now on! I was prepared to just let this go, but Paul's response to my review is infuriating. I looked up the cost of the part on Rheem's website (I have the box the part came in).

It costs $84.12 and I am sure Paul, as a contractor, paid less than this. He told us the part cost over $200, a flat out lie.

This means we paid $400 for less that an hour's labor, overhead and other expenses. We were grossly overcharged.

Get other quotes before hiring this company. Also Paul did not buy the part he installed in my home from a local distributer.

I have the box and the packing label. It was shipped to him from Rheem.

I have received some excellent work from Paul and his crew at whistle Plumbing over the last 7 years. Even when we had a major pipe burst and had to reconstruct the entire kitchen, he was attentive and his crew got in there and got everything done for a very fair price.

I could not recommend him highly enough. Nothing like walking into your bedroom (in the dark) on a Saturday night after a leisurely dinner on a long holiday weekend and finding your self not walking on water but very definitely in it needless to say it was a very unwelcome surprise.

When I began asking him question about why he needed to examine the entire plumbing system, rather than just the local problem in the bathroom, he became abrasive, condescending and rude and said "well, I'm the plumber, not you!" I told him that he was rude and that "I am the customer and need to know why you are charging me so much", he didn't explain, said he didn't need this and hung up.

My mom and stepdad are seniors and Poppie's failed DIY attempt at installing a new kitchen faucet resulted in a flood of the kitchen and no water to the house for a day and a half. My mom has used Whistle before and has had good experiences.

Not having water for more than a day created a desperate situation for them and a lot of plumbers would have taken advantage of that. Two Whistle techs arrived at my mom's tonight, after hours, and did not leave until everything was right.

My husband and I are in construction across the bay so we know seniors are often treated - we hear stories constantly. I checked in with her and everything was repaired and she was charged a very reasonable price.

Kept his mouth shut and just did what he came to do. But unfortunately, the lift rod for the pop up in the new bathroom sink faucet they installed was not done sufficiently, because you have to pull kind of hard on it to open or close the pop up.

But I can live with it. Maybe Robert lost his concentration, because his boss was too busy debating me.

The tension was thick in the air. Also, it was a very confined space for Robert and he had to twist his body around as he worked underneath the sink.

And now with the owner, Paul. He was considerate and did come early so I did appreciate that.

$500! After he agreed with me that it was wrong to rip people off. Another plumber my landlord consulted with before Paul was only charging $300.

I wish my landlord would have told me how much he was charging before the work began. But because Paul was already here, she just decided to go through with it.

I use to work for a plumbing company as a CSR/Dispatcher so I know $500 is way too much. And I also know that technicians are encouraged by a lot of plumbing companies to purposely rip people off because most people aren't privy to this practice and don't know much about plumbing.

That makes it easier for those who have unethical business practices to jack up the price. They can also lie by saying you have something not working right just to get more money.

In this case though, Paul only jacked up the price. I have used Whistle Plumbing twice so far.

The first was a drain clearing. The second, which deserves this good review, was a leak dripping into the apartment below.

I called them in the morning and they showed up about 2:00 found the problem, fixed it, and cleaned up after themselves. Great service and good work.

If you need a plumber, these are the guys. I have an old garden hose in my backyard that's been stuck to the faucet for a few years now.

I decided to try and remove it with an adjustable wrench. After several minutes of trying the faucet started to turn and I heard a low hissing sound.

It sounded like water was leaking inside the wall! I immediately called Whistle Plumbing and they suggested I turn off the water main right away. In less than 15 minutes Paul from whistle Plumbing was at my house.

He quickly assessed the situation and after 30 minutes of work, the water leak was fixed and the faucet was replaced. I was panicking from the start but Paul was calm, efficient, and friendly.

We called several places and these guys were able to come out on short notice. Considering it was a holiday weekend, we accepted the quote even though it was a tad bit high considering the actual cost of the water heater they planned on installing.

We had one request, as it was impossible to pull a permit prior to getting it installed, we simply asked if it could be installed to code. We were assured it would be installed to code and the water heater was installed and working shortly there after.

Does the water heater work? Yes. Was it installed in short notice in a holiday weekend? Yes Was the work completed for the amount of the quote? Yes Was it installed to code? NO We reached out a couple of times, after the work was completed.

The first time we were polite and asked if he was sure it was installed to code. He assured us it was.

He even offered to pull a permit himself for 689 more as it would take him 6 hours to get the permit and wait at the house for the inspection. When we reached out the second time and asked if he would stand behind his work if we were to go ahead and pull the permit ourselves and wait for the inspector ourselves.

This is where his true colors came out and he said the inspector may find a few things but he assured us we didn't need those things and if we wanted them done he would have to charge us more. You can use this guy if you want, but bottom line, he is someone who is willing to stretch the truth and lie to your face.

There are plenty of good, honest plumbers out there....if you have to wait a day or two for the good ones, it's worth the wait. Paul is the best.

My net cost was $289 minus a $28 discount equals $261 for that job. They were quick and fixed it in one visit.

Warranty on this job is for 90 days. Next day (dec 19th) I call them for a separate issue, also a leak.

I guess water didn't like me these two days. Anyway, this a more elaborate job, and it takes them 1hr so I pay $289-$28 equals $261.

Warranty for this job is for 30 days. Jan 5th is here and the second job they completed is leaking again, so I call them, this time Paul the professional comes and determines the original fix needs some additional fixing.

He fixes it and then says the warranty is void and to please pay them $989 if I want them to come back to fix this leak permanently as they can't warrant this temporary correction. Now, I'm leaking money.

I say try someone else first. Got zero stars? What a rip off! Bad customer service and ownership.

Don't use them. Two guys came out and ripped out less than 5 feet of tubing.

They charged us 50 feet. When We called the owner asking why we were being charged so much he started acting narcissistic and using reverse psychology.

I imagine the pro-rate will also apply when rounding up for longer tasks, so your YMMV. The claim is that the standard rate is $225 per hour in 2017, but he'll bring it down to $179/hr though most reviews here mention $179 so it seems standard or at least their way to bypass their "ad" above.

Just for transparency I saw on the invoice there can also be a $15 gas charge on a visit which may or may not be waived. Given that quotes are free I figure if they come back it would have been tacked.

I did have a small task(adding a connecting valve to gas line. I used a professional because it involved gas with more much liability and was pressed for time due to circumstances otherwise I should have just went with another vendor.

So being caught between the rock and hard place, I had to roll with the quote. Maybe the pricest 7 minutes of my life.

Not end of the world for either party. I'm sure they expect some churn with their marketing/business model as long as it gets their people in the door.

I sitll have some peace of mind in having the work completed. Really it boils down to what is least pleasant in life is when you feel you are unnecessarily gouged or tricked.

I'd rather it all be laid in full transparency at the beginning at the appointment phase especially if it is a standard policy. So when I inevitably get issues around utility in the future, I won't use them.

I had an emergency situation at 8am , I called and made an appt by 10am and they were able to come out and fix the problem. $145 for general inspection and they were able to fix the drainage in an hour.

I am very pleased with their response, quick service and experience. I am a very happy customer!! We had a water hammer sound coming from our toilet.

Thanks a Paul for saving the day and my sink! I called Whistle Plumbing to come out and check on my water hammer problem which occurred every time I used the kitchen sink. Oliver showed up at the scheduled time and started with the basics in troubleshooting my water lines.

The process of elimination started with checking the water pressure which turned out to be within the normal range. Next he started checking the angle stops in each location that had a faucet, toilet, or washer.

It turned out that none of the valves had been turned all the way on and he made the necessary adjustments all around the house. It turns out that partially opened water valves create additional pressure in the system and can be responsible for banging pipes.

I tested the results and found the banging sound was more subdued and Oliver said with additional water circulating through the system it may go away completely. Whistle Plumbing declined any payment for this service which I didn't expect but greatly appreciated, and they provided an estimate for a recommended follow up if the noise returned.

Paul is knowledgeable and helpful. Fair pricing and on time.

We suffered a disaster after the big power outage this week. Our tankless water heater was hit with the power surge and died.

Our plumber recommended Paul from Whistle Plumbing because he's more experienced with tankless. When I called him, he said he still have two jobs that day and will come the next day.

I'm not gonna say how much the quoted amount even with the senior citizen discount, so people won't lose interest in getting tankless water heater. Hey it's great (instant hot water, no water wasted while waiting to heat up, no running out of hot water while 6 people take turns showering in the morning and both the washer and dishwasher are on, etc etc).

We have to wait another day for the parts but once they started working, no breaks even for the snacks that we offered them. When they're done, they took all the boxes and garbage and left the place clean.
