I've had horrible experiences in past years--being stood up, showing up on the wrong day and/or time, shoddy work, rudeness, unreasonable charges, you name it. So I was initially skeptical about all the glowing reviews I read on Nextdoor and on Yelp about San Mateo Handyman, and more specifically, about Norm with San Mateo Handyman.

But too many things we're starting to fall apart with the house. So I caved and gave Norm a call a few months ago to replace the two old bathroom faucet/fixtures in our master bath and our kitchen faucet--and, boy am I glad I did! From beginning to end, Norm was pure pleasure to work with.

He was responsive (he returned all my calls and texts promptly); showed up on time; was efficient, knowledgeable, honest, tidy, more than fair; and he does excellent work. He's also a delight to talk with and get to know.

In short, Norm is the best. I feel fortunate for having found a handyman now that I can trust to not only get the job done well, but to get it done in a way that's a great experience from start to finish.

Norm was knowledgeable about how short screws come with the hinge kits but long screws are the correct kind to be used and it came off likely due to that. Told Norman I'd like for him to come by this week, he asked for photos and texted me his email.

I delayed sending photos of items needing repairs by a day (my bad). He replied promptly saying he'd come by on Friday this week to check it out.

I said I needed at least one of the repairs this week (so Friday itself) as guests were coming and their door needed to close! He called me and said "I'm sorry I didn't realize you had a deadline, in that case I can come today and I'll make sure it is repaired in time for your guests." He truly communicated at a high level and made my day with his concern for my needs and met them beautifully. Happy with the results and his customer service skills! Another repair was a broken shower door.

He said he wouldn't be able to fix that particular issue but could refer me. He sent me the shower door installation company's number promptly and his referral was quick and professional in his response as well.

Norm also called and spoke with me at length about the other issues that needed repairs (since so far only the door was repaired). The shower door repair company is coming tomorrow and Norm is returning tomorrow as well for the rest of the repairs.

I am very very pleased and have already recommended him to a family member that would need his services. Will update review after round two.

TL;DR: Norman cleared a misunderstanding and went above and beyond to make sure repairs were done in time for guests arrival and gave me a recommendation for specialized repairs and I'm happy with that company too. So, after my initial review, Norman called me that same day.

He was apologetic and said everything you could want, and then some. He asked what he could do to get the review taken down, and offered to compensate me for it, which I thought was a bit odd.

I said I hadn't paid him anything, to which he replied that time was money and I'd had my time wasted. I politely declined, and said that really the only thing that would make me want to take down the review was if the job got done, which it hadn't been.

He agreed that this was reasonable and said he'd put me in touch with another one of his handymen, a better one. Which, again, I thought was a little odd since it begs the question why I was initially put in touch with an apparently less capable handyman.

I'm given to understand that this better handyman is licensed and therefore in greater demand. I said that this would be fine, I just wanted the job done.

We agreed and Norman said he'd have his guy get in touch. That was 12 weeks ago today, and was the last time I heard from anyone at San Mateo Handyman.

I'm starting to think that maybe they're not gonna call. Anyways, previously I'd given them two stars, with that second star being because I thought that, if nothing else, they did a good job communicating.

Obviously that's out the window now. I reached out to Norman about fixing my garbage disposal.

He called back within a few hours and helped me troubleshoot via the telephone. He even sent me a YouTube link.

So I ordered all of the parts and had a plumber come out and assess. That plumber, from a well known local company, quoted me the most ridiculous price for what would likely amount to be a 30 min job for him.

Luckily, a friend mentioned Norman to me a few weeks ago- she was happy with his work so I reached out to her for his info. I am so glad I connected with him! Norman walked me through some troubleshooting to help me diagnose the issue with my disposer.

He was amazing. He methodically explained every step to me one by one- it was detailed explanation almost like he was standing right next to me.

Together, we were able to figure out what was happening with the disposer and he was effective in his communication that as a rookie first timer, I was able to safely ensure power to the disposer, nothing was stuck in the disposer, unlock the disposer, get the disposer to work and then testing to make sure everything else down the line is clear and not leaking. WAYYYY better service than any plumber ever in my book.

And even better? I offered to pay for his time and Norman declined. He was just happy that I got everything to work!!! Amazing.

Basically what happened was - there was a leak from the shower (second floor) to the kitchen ceiling (first floor) and the plumber who came out in the first place was so sure that the cause was just the face plate. Long story short, the cause wasn't just the face plate and it still leaked.

Norman came to rescue us and he thoroughly analyzed and tested every single corner in that shower. He took his time to make 100% sure it's not leaking anymore and patched up the open ceiling, painted it afterwards.

I seek Norman's help with a kitchen faucet replacement. We communicated mostly over email, and since it is a non-emergency plumbing, email was a convenient mode of communication for me.

It took awhile for my new faucet to arrive, so we had to push back the installation by a few weeks. On his first trip, Norman helped to check that the new faucet and parts are in good order, and had a look at the water line and pipes under the sink.

Norman is experienced and helped me to understand what was required for the replacement. He noticed a weird water line connection made by the previous owner/plumber, and wanted to make sure he did things right so he had to call the appliances company to check.

Later, he explained the situation to me over a phone call and we found that there was a simple solution, as we didn't need that water line connection. We scheduled for another day and he replaced the faucet.

Like most Yelpers, my experience with Norman was extremely positive. Needed a semi-urgent kitchen sink repair, and found Norman on Yelp.

His respond was prompt, and very clear on what kind of information is needed. During the estimate, he is very thorough about what happened to the sink, and the work needed to be done and the cost.

Everything is upfront and clear, and he answer all questions asked, and explain those we didn't ask. :-) It's very hard to find a handyman nowadays that is both skillful and honest, I highly recommend Norman.

The final payment was also requested before the work was completed. I think staggering the payments a little more (deposit before start - 50% - 30% - remainder upon completion) would have felt more comfortable for me.

I would recommend Shoreway for large plumbing projects based on the speed, quality and ability to put the house back together after the work is done. My 14 year old tankless water heater stopped working.

I talked to people about recommendations and their experience with the same problem. I got 2 plumbers in the area based on water heater manufacturer's website listing for plumbers in the area who service and install this particular brand.

Then I looked at Yelp reviews and picked Shoreway Plumbing (along with another plumber). Fernando came for the estimate and he immediately impressed me as knowledgeable and experienced.

Based on my description, he actually correctly predicted the model of my other tankless water heater which was even older. Fernando was polite and professional.

The day after he gave me the bid, he followed up to see if I had any questions. Julio was the plumber who came for the job because Fernando was on another job and he was equally knowledgeable.

He completed the installation in 3 hours, and cleaned up afterwards, leaving the area cleaner than before he started. Julio was also polite and humble but professional.

I did get a bid from another plumber, who came in slightly less expensive but did not have the same confidence and professionalism. The other plumber also estimated the job would take 6-7 hours.

But there are individual workers and there is the company. The crew was happy with the company and felt the Shoreway treated them well.

This gig needed an early morning start and the after establishing that we were told that they would have the technician sent to our address at 8 AM on Saturday morning (the timing was critical since we had to be out of the house for an appointment between 9:15 and 9:30). A big shoutout to Jose for making the appointment possible for us at such an extremely short notice and on top of that making sure that the technician arrives on time.

Come 8 AM and we had Fernando ready at the door to help us. One of the shower's in our house was not emitting hot water.

He took a look at the connections and the tankless water heater, followed by the grundfos valves that we got installed to help with recirc. Once all of that was established to be working as expected, he predicted the issues to be with the cartridge inside the shower faucet and it did turn out to be the case.

He opened that up and cleaned it a bit and put it back in place and hot water it was that started coming out, to our heart's content. We did end up ordering the same cartridge in case we needed to replace this in future though in the shorter term we are not doing that for now.

Massive kudos to Fernando for patiently (and quickly at the same time) making sure every variable in the equation was addressed, doing the work to perfection and absolutely in time ( which was pretty critical for us). We spent quite some time on getting permit from the county, but after that everything moved fast. They kept us updated on the progress, kept the site clean after the whole work.

Over the past several years we have had them do many small repairs, install a tankless water heater, replace all the original corroded gas lines under the house, add a back flow prevention in the sewer, add a sewer clean out, and replace the old cast iron sewer line completely under the house and from the front of the house to the city hook up.

After paying another plumber to install a high-end Rinnai tankless water heater, I had to fire him and hire Shoreway to finish the job. Was reminded of the old saying, "if you think it's expensive to hire a professional...wait until you hire an amateur!" -- which is what I got before Shoreway came out.

Jose provided great comms on the coordinating, quoting, etc. -- and Fernando installed all the final equipment like a surgeon.

Jose and the team were great! Very professional, on time, clear communication. Needed my old gas tank water heater to be replaced and wanted to upgrade to a new electric heat pump tank water heater.

Jose came out to provide an estimate and was able to start and finish the work the next day, this included the electrical work. I had 3 plumbers come out to bid and Shoreway was the most competitive AND I could tell they had done this work many times before.

I would use Jose and the team again for other jobs. I contacted a couple different companies when my Noritz Tankless Water heater started having issues (~13 years old).

I decided to change out the whole system and went down the path of researching all the new systems. The two systems I was looking at were Rinnai and Navien, the good thing is that for both manufacturers, Shoreway was listed as an official installer which goes a long way for warranty purposes.

After a lot of research I decided to go with the Rinnai RXP199In which is a brand new model that just came out. Fernando really made me feel comfortable with Shoreway as I felt he was very knowledgeable and explained everything to my satisfaction.

Fernando was able to give me a price that I was happy with and was able to find a unit quickly for me for the install, as I needed it asap because I had no hot water. On the install day two techs came out and did the install faster than I expected and did very clean work.

Fernando then came by at the end and powered on the system and walked me through testing it. I also got the WiFi module which was a great add on as well as the recirculation feature of the Rinnai.

Overall I had a great experience with Shoreway and Fernando, he was very knowledgeable and always responded to my text messages promptly while figuring out who I would go with. I would not hesitate to reach out to Shoreway for my future needs.

In addition, the plumber Pablo wears his N95 face mask and operational gloves carefully. I first showed him where I suspected it leaked, and later invite him to the indoor area for another issue, he pause and put on a shoe cover without me even thinking about it.

The plumber show me what he charges, and help investigate in a much deeper detailed than another plumbing company's "field supervisor" has done when I requested a quote. And offered me only 4x less of the price the other company asked for.

Super overpriced, i got a condensate neutralizer replaced (the new one is neutra safe cn2-220, which is $80 at Home Depot) , was charged $425 for the neutralizer + installation (~30mins) We had a great experience with Shoreway Plumbing. We used them to install a heat pump water heater and new electrical sub-panel (part of the BayRen rebate program).

Douglas and the team that did the installation were great and finished the job on the scheduled date. Our water heater stopped working last night, so we want to get it replaced today as soon as possible.

We quoted another company and their price is outrageous, so we called Shoreway, and the price is more reasonable. Oscar is super helpful and finished the work very well.

The work took about 4 hours, including removing the old heater, installing the new heater, setting up new pipes and cleaning up. Oscar did all the work patiently and not letting any detail slip through.

I escalated up to their manager, Abraham, who wouldn't budge.

I told him 1) they should have mentioned that when I made the appointment, and 2) the charge was ludicrously excessive for Redwood City to Half Moon Bay. I offered to pay $25-50 at most on top of the repair, and he refused.

Great job They called me back after my last review, and were willing to correct the situation. I've giving this some thought, and I decided to increase their review to 4 stars.

This is installment #3 about our heat pump water heater installation. It has been a "long and winding road" but Shoreway Plumbing finally completed the permit application and today the project passed inspection.

While I would not want anyone to have to do through what I did for 6 months to get this permit, the work was well done as I said in my first post. So, I raised my rating from "not good" to "okay." Based on my due diligence and having just recently had Shoreway install a tankless hot water heater, I am highly recommending them.

As was mentioned previously they're not the least expensive bid that you will get. But if you're like me, leave the plumbing in the hands of experts.

I am asking Shoreway to thank Cesar Ventura who worked my project from conception to installation. He did a first-rate professional job.

They worked efficiently and cleaned up the space very well. While they weren't t exactly the cheapest option, they responded fast and I would call them again if needed.

I needed help with the ignitor on my water heater. The scheduler was very responsive to my needs and scheduled the appointment right away.

Marvin was extremely professional, on time and took care of the issue on the spot. He is very honest and pricing is very reasonable.

He even took a video to show me that everything is working well. Would definitely contact Shoreway Plumbing in the future! Marvin Gonzalez was terrific.

He diagnosed the problems with two of our toilets quickly. (We were down to only one working toilet in the house.) He fixed one toilet and replaced the other.

(He had to make a trip to Home Depot first. We weren't surprised that one toilet needed to be replaced.

It was an old toilet and we had figured in advance that it was worth repairing, especially given that it used a lot of water. Mr.

Gonzalez was very polite and, frankly, left the bathrooms cleaner than he had found them. It wasn't cheap, but I suspect that the charges were in line with what other plumbers would have charged.

He arrived on time at the beginning of the two hour period we were told to expect him. In addition, we were able to schedule the appointment for the day after we called.

I am extremely happy with their service. Our tankless water heater had a leaking issue.

We have a home warranty, but the plumbing company the Home Warranty dispatched quoted a lot of "add-ons" that are not necessary. We had to pay thousands more out of our own pocket if we went with them.

With Shoreway, they diagnosed the exact problem and got the parts (still under warranty) from the manufacturer the next day. I called them Wednesday morning, they came at noon.

The next morning they received the part and came back again to replace the part in the same afternoon. An amazing turn-around time! This is important because the leak is serious and we hate to waste water during draught.

The technician (his name is Douglas) is punctual, courteous, honest and the pricing is very reasonable (I compared the price with many other plumbing companies). The people in the office always answers my phone calls and are very helpful.

(some plumbing companies do not answer calls and their voice mail box is full) Even though they are based in Redwood City, and we live in W San Jose, they are more responsive and we get more prompt service. The workmanship on the job is also really professional and well done.

I am so pleased with them so I decided to write this review to endorse their good business. Marvin & Jesus were great! Our water heater broke & now it is good as new.

Marvin was extremely responsive and managed to replace my dead gas water heater with a hybrid heat pump water heater the same day. He and Andix were polite and explained everything clearly, including the electrical work required and the addition of a condenser pump.

Left the area cleaner than it started! Our water heater was making a lot of noises and wanted someone to come and inspect. Marvin Gonzalez and Jesus Zaragoza came and looked at it and they noticed flameouts with huge popping sound coming from the water heater which was scary.

They suggested immediate replacement of water heater. Marvin patiently explained various options and was able to do the same day water heater replacement for a good price.

He was able to address all the other safety issues during installation such as proper vent spacing, expansion tank and drip pan. Had an overall good experience with Marvin and team.

Good service and very responsive. I had a problem with my tankless water heater.

They fixed the part and checked with the manufacturer to learn the part was under warranty. Douglas, and his team, from Shoreway did a super job for us on a new hot water heater.

Good job explaining our options and recommending improvements they could make to our existing recirculation system. Fixed price bid, so we knew what it would cost up front.

I highly recommend! For Seniors: I am a handicapped senior and live alone. Reggie, the owner and all his workers were knights in shining armor.

Reggie came to my aid late one nite after two weeks without water. I called others but no one appeared.

He is honest, truthful, compassionate, fair and goes the extra mile to assist seniors. Additionally, they do excellent work with beautiful finishes.

He promised I would have water the next day and I did. They were complicated jobs with pipes inside bricks, installations and moving pipes inside walls but it was all done neatly with cleanup afterwards.

I feel fortunate to have Shoreway Plumbing and Reggie available to me In the future. We're finishing up a plumbing project that includes a new tankless water heater and a water filtration system.

I am really impressed with these folks--they took their time to do a great job in difficult conditions. Very personable and responsible.

Would absolutely use them again. I found them because they were highly rated by the tankless water heater company and the warranty requires that the installer be certified on installing the equipment.

As it is often the case with these things my old water heater gave in on a Saturday in December. While mentally preparing for a weekend of cold showers, I submitted request on Yelp.

Shoreway Plumbing were quick to respond and offered the same day appointment for an estimate. They ended up replacing the water heater, and managed to get the job done by the end of the same Saturday! I'm very happy with the service.

Oscar was kind and polite, he came to the site right on time and helped me with the issues. Will definitely hire him again! I called Shoreway at 6 pm after being frustrated at Home Depot.

Lifesaver! I leaving for my honeymoon in 2 days, then the Water Heater decides it's done its duty and dies. We had no hot water.

I could not leave my housesitter with freezing water so I began the frantic search on the interwebs for a good plumber. Usually I would ask for family/friend's recommendations but I was searching after 10pm and I needed a plumber the next morning.

Tim got back to me quickly, gave me a fair quote and arrived within the time frame that he said he would. He did not upcharge us for the quick response or because it was veteran's day.

I was very appreciative of that. He completed the work, did a good job and was professional.

Now my house has super hot water and I have a good plumber I can call in the future :-) My house had a very old rusty water valve that got stuck in the closed position and we had no water in our house. My husband and I tried to replace the valve ourselves after watching many YouTube videos and purchasing materials from Home Depot, but ultimately was unsuccessful.

If he's available to serve you, you will be in good hands, trust me! Our place was built in the 50s and the plumbing was really out dated. That said a lot of the pipes were old.

On a Saturday the basement part just broke when we were working something around it. Water splashed everywhere.

The only way to stop that was to shut off the main wove and that we couldn't use water anywhere else in the house either. It was around 5 pm on a Saturday evening.

We called everywhere tried to have people come in give us quotes, and of course, most of them jack up the price to sky high. What was even more ridiculous was almost all of them doesn't even know what they were doing.

I don't even know how to put it, but it was just my gut feeling that even if I were to pay them that price they were not going to be able to fix it. And I i was right- the thing that they sort of ran through with us what they will do to solve the issue was totally BS.

Look back, they wouldn't even have the tools and parts ready. Now back to more details of how great Tim is.

After calling and making appointments with many different vendors we could find and were offering service around that hours, for to Tim's TRZ business around 7 pm. He picked up the phone and arrived our place very quickly.

To be honest, we were so desperate at that point that we would pay anything to get this plumbing issue fixed so we can go on for our weekend. When we told him what we were quoted on, he laughed and said those were crazy quotes and told us not to worry.

That alone made me feel better, I didn't know what to expect yet at that point but I was willing to take the chance as he showed up and brought good vibe: he was well prepared that his tool box filled with different kinds of parts and in well organized fashion! He clearly knows what he's doing, with in no time he fixed our plumbing issue. He was so kind that there was one part he didn't have ( as mentioned our place is old) he drove out to pick up the part just like that- not even ask for extra or anything.

At the end, the bill was not even 1/3 of what other lame business- include some big names you are all familiar with. And that's included if a generous tips.

How nice the world will be if more business/ people in general don't try to take advantage of people when they are in needs. Instead giving genuine support and good work.

All other agency's quoted me $350 and above including $150 surcharge just to look at the problem. I was very frustrated since I was strapped on cash.

I called Tim at TRZ which gave me a honest quote over the phone of $250. He got to my residence in about 25 mins and fixed the problem in about an hour and half because it was clogged so bad! I never write reviews on yelp but this man not only gave me a honest quote, he did not charge me anything more, I only had $300 on me which I told him over the phone.

I wish I was able to tip the man more because he deserved more than $300 for canceling his plans on a Saturday night. I recommend Tim to anyone that is having any type of plumbing issues, his honesty, professionalism and knowledge puts him above all.

Our water heater died on Friday at some point... we learned of it's passing on Saturday morning.

An early morning weekend call to Tim and he was able to fit us into his schedule that same afternoon. Tim gave fast and competitive quotes to either fix or replace the unit.

He explained the options in detail not only to me, but also to our landlord who lives remotely, and when she decided to replace the unit I assumed I would have to wait until Monday for the replacement work. I called him Saturday morning because of an issue I had with a water heater leaking and luckily he was available later that day to replace it. His pricing was fair and Yelp reviews were great so why not right? However, the best news I received was when he showed up and quickly determined the water heater that had an issue was labeled incorrect and it was actually my neighbors unit.

Last week my water heater stopped working and Tim showed up within a few hours and had it replaced quick! I had a shower valve break and you would think this wouldn't be that big of a deal (at least, if, like me, you know very little about plumbing), but no.

It was a big deal. Get the torch out, the welder out, all of it.

Huge production. The first plumber I called, 24/7 Rooter & Plumbing, gave me a ridiculous quote and the two guys they sent out were scratching their heads and literally looked scared of it while evaluating it (so, yeah, don't call them).

Tim just dove in and got to work. Took, I think, about five hours over two days to get it resolved.

He did a great job on it and it continues to work great (the work was done last year). The only negative was on the second day, he was 3-4 hours late because of an emergency job that came up.

Not really a problem but the delay didn't get communicated as promptly as it could have. Otherwise, he was great to work with and did quality work.

Will definitely hire him again. Tim was very quick to answer his phone and very quick to come to my house's rescue.

It literally was midnight and still had a smile on his face. If it were me, I would NOT have the same expression.

I had some pipes redone at my house to fit a new laundry machine. As a jack of all trades, he was able to help change out my old brass pipes as well as hook up a gas line for the dryer! Talk about piece of mind.

Awesome customer service. After having an awful beyond awful contractor do some seriously shoddy work, which included wet bar stub-outs, I hired TRZ to remove the stub-outs (several months after the contractor) and install angle stops (valves) in order to proceed with installing the wet bar.

The next day, one angle stop was leaking. I called him and he showed up right away to fix it.

A couple of weeks later I noticed that there was a watermark on the wall under where he'd worked. I opened up the wall and it was soaked.

Mold was growing. It was a bad scene.

I called him back and told him I needed this fixed immediately. He agreed to show up 45 minutes later.

While I was waiting, I opened up more of the wall to expose the entire pipe that led to the angle stop. I then realized the leak wasn't from his work, but my shoddy contractor.

When he showed up, he agreed and proceeded to cut the pipe and completely redo the contractor's work--properly this time. He insisted on NOT charging me for fixing the awful beyond awful contractor's mess.

Can't ask for better service than that! We were without hot water. Our seventeen year old water heater died one night.

I called Tim and he was there bright early, thankfully, the next morning and put in a new water heater for us! A friend complained her had a leak in his house and needed help. I gave him Tim's number and he was so happy as Tim was to his house in one hour..

Tim is accommodating while many plumbers are not, Nice guy. We've used Tim in the past and appreciated all the work he did, but sadly after two weeks of texting and no shows and no commitments.

Though this review is based solely on communication between the technician and myself and not on the work conducted (husband was able to fix the issue!), I cannot not rave enough about the promptness Tim from TRZ had on the email communication. From my end, I was a bit wishy-washy about hearing back from other companies.

Tim was patient and still informed me of the quote and availability he had in coming out for the job. If in the future, our water heater might encounter any issues, I will absolutely keep TRZ in mind.

We have used him for several issues at our home. Beginning with correcting a terrible dishwasher installation by Home Depot, and other more involved plumbing situations.

He is a pro, knows his business, and explains everything. Great work and a pleasant guy! So last night my hubby found water and rust leaking from the top of the water heater near the pipes.

Given that hubby's unemployed and we're living on one income and I don't make that much money myself, we immediately panicked at the possibility of having our water heater replaced. We initially call Magic Plumbing, who immediately said we 95% likely would have to have our water heater and they wanted $1500...

JUST for the water heater. We immediately got suspicious after I did some Googling!!! My comment was "NO WAY IN HELL we're paying $1500 JUST for the water heater!!! Not EVEN if labor was thrown in!!! That is NOT right!!!" I did a Yelp search and found TRZ Plumbing!!! After reading all the reviews, I decided to try Tim out and see if he's an honest guy or if he's gonna gouge the price up too.

He came to our home within an hour (rare for a Saturday!) and my husband watched Tim fixed the top seals of the pipes to the water heater -- a very minor $100 repair job!!! Yes, EVENTUALLY we'll have to replace our water heater, but he gave his estimate and it was nowhere near the $1500 mark. Tim also said he's pretty sure the problem is with the seal of the pipes, BUT if this particular seal was not the problem and he had to replace the water heater, he would put our last repair cost towards the bill.

When we asked his estimate for replacing the water heater and we told him what Magic Plumbing wanted to charge us, he confirmed our suspicions they were trying to gouge us on the repair cost. He also commented that we're pretty much up to current plumbing code on water heater and earthquakes, etc., so no EXTRA COST for "conforming to current plumbing code!!!", which was one of the estimate cost that Magic Plumbing defends their high repair cost!!! As my husband told him, "I think my wife and I just found our new favorite plumber!" BUH BYE, Magic Plumbing!!! :P Tim is simply the best! He is so quick to come out and help and does a fantastic job! Great prices, he fixed my water heater so fast! I can always count on him! I had a leak from my water heater and we were quick to call for estimates, Tim was the only one with a quick reply with an estimate over the phone after pictures were sent with the problem.

He also came out first thing early morning and changed out my water heater with new fittings, pipes, easy shut-off gas valve (since the previous was unreachable), etc.. VERY courteous and knowledgeable!!! Will DEFINITELY call Tim for future needs!!! I've got to give Tim from TRZ Plumbing 5 stars for good work, being honest and flexible with making time in the evening and weekends to get things done.

My brother-in-law had used TRZ before and suggested calling Tim to replace my garbage disposal. I know it wasn't a big job, but I didn't want to risk it and Tim quoted me at a decent price if I provided the disposal myself.

After coming over one evening, Tim showed me that the pipes under my sink actually had been worn down as they were metal and the leak was not only coming from the garbage disposal, but the pipes themselves which had worn down. He didn't want to do half the job, so he ended up replacing the pipes under the sink.

I know the job went way longer than he expected, but he did an outstanding job. Because the problem was a bit unexpected I knew it would cost more and was prepared for something terrible, but Tim was very fair in pricing.

There was one small leak where old metal piping went into the rubber pipes he installed, so we set up another day for him to come by and he fixed it in minutes. As you can see from all the reviews, I'm not alone in praising Tim.

If you need anything regarding plumbing, you should definitely call TRZ. Did not get to hire Tim and his team due to schedule issue.

However we communicated with him back and forth and would certainly have engaged his service if only our water heater leaks did not deteriorated so quickly/ coincide with his trip out of city. I would say he offered the best price, prompt in reply and certainly straightforward in his pricing.

Unlike many others that I spoke to and communicate via yelp message. I would certainly hire him and his team for future issue- felt like I could trust him to do a great job and not at inflated cost.

Tim made good on the prior issue and did a fine job for me! Tim is a referral from a friend - he was busy, but provided a same day commitment knowing the urgency of no hot water. He arrived late in the evening to keep his commitment.

I really appreciate his awesome customer service. The water heater is only 7 years old, sold to me by another plumber in town who was overpriced and installed a sub-standard unit, then repaired twice.

I bought 3 Toto toilets online and needed them installed in my bathrooms. Tim came highly recommended from my neighbor who had numerous jobs completed by him.

Had TRZ Plumbing (Tim) replaced my water heater. He was a little late because he had an emergency call.

He did text early to tell me. When showed up he was pleasant and did s nice job.

Tim is the only one I trust with my plumbing issues. I had an emergency at my office which prevented me from working and Tim responded immediately and professionally.

Also I've used him before when my office bathroom toilet stopped working and he was in and out getting it replaced before we closed for the day. Highly highly recommend him Tim came out to my elderly father's home to troubleshoot a broken garbage disposal and also install a new toilet.

He found the problem with the garbage disposal lickety-split, and it was good as new. There was a screw that had fallen in and gotten wedged in to a tricky spot.

I had put my hand down there and felt around, and also shined a flashlight and looked, but I never saw the screw. Tim also kindly left a small tool for us and told us how to fix it in the future should it happen again.

I don't think he even charged us for fixing it. Then he expertly and quickly installed a toilet, for a very reasonable price.

I agree with other reviewers, Tim of TRZ Plumbing is very personable, honest, capable, and fair. Based on my first experience hiring him, I can highly recommend him.

Provided excellent service at a great price! I will use TRZ again if I ever need a plumber! I was totally satisfied by the work and will refer others who are looking for a plumber to TRZ. Tim did a great job for us! We had a gas leak and he came out very quickly to take care of the problem.

Luckily the leak only required cutting through sheetrock behind the range. He replaced one of the connections that wasn't connected properly, fixed it and closed up the wall securely.

Tim is great...first to respond to my request for a quote to repair or replace a water heater...reasonable quote...next day service. He even offered to come back and fix some things that were not quite right with the ventilation on other water heaters.

He is the guy you hope you find to replace your water heater or other pluming job. Contacted Tim late Sunday night, he had my new hot water heater in by end of day Monday.

My water heater broke on Wednesday night and I called Tim at TRZ Plumbing and he answered right away and said he would bring me a new water heater the same afternoon. He sent me an update on what time he would arrive and showed up on time with a much improved and more efficient water heater than the one I had.

Tim explained some issues going in with my pipe connections and made the corrections so it is much safer now. Tim was very nice and efficient and I would definitely call him again for plumbing or other services.

Also the price was very reasonable. I was very surprised and happy to take care of my problem right away.

I called him mid-afternoon and in less than 1.5 hrs he was at the doorstep ready to help with an office toilet clog. There was a pipe blockage, so he swiftly moved the toilet and snaked the pipe 30 feet.

He diagnosed the problem and was very courteous, working past business hours. He is also very affordable.

I highly recommend his services! Tim is great to work with (but can be a little hard to get a hold of sometimes, most likely because he is in high-demand). However, once I got a hold of him, he came out quickly and did a great job.

He ended up having to do a lot more work but he didn't charge any extra. I even offered to pay him for the extra time and he refused - said he'd stick with his initial estimates.

Would definite call Tim again for any plumbing need. Noticed the hot water was tepid at best when washing a couple of coffee cups this morning, so went down to the utility closet to discover that our 14 year old water heater was leaking and had turned off.

Called Tim, the owner of TRZ Plumbing, around 9:00 AM Valentine's Day, ( on a Sunday as well ), so 'twas a double week-end whammy. He answered the phone immediately and after searching several outlets, ( needless to say, his local plumbing supplier was closed ), arrived with a new, high quality unit made by a well know manufacturer which met the CA NOX standards.

Then he proceeded to listen to me, ( felt a bit sorry for him ), about how I had tried to drain the heater with our garden hose into the shower pan, ( which only partially worked 'cause I didn't open the pressure relief valve properly ), and explained all the oddball things that can happen with home water lines, air in them, diverter valves, etc., and calmed my nerves as we worked together, ( yes, I helped a little -- an enjoyable education ), to get everything handled. It all came together bit by bit -- Tim was reassuring with a positive mental attitude, ( which I didn't have ), and now everything is working just fine.

He also upgraded several things which were previously done, ( and/or lacking ), from those of 14 years ago, and the price was very fair. Sooo-o-o, would highly recommend as you surely can't ask for any better than that now, can you ?!!! TRZ is who you need to call! We had a big leak at our rental unit that would require cutting into the ceiling to get to.

Tim not only took care of the leak, he cleaned up a mold issue, repaired the ceiling and repainted. He does it all! Highly recommended! Super fast response, super friendly and personable, job completed and left everything clean and tidy.

Tim is the best! I couldn't be happier! This pains me a little, because Tim has so many other glowing reviews, I have no idea what happened here. We called about a leak under our kitchen sink, and Tim was able to come out and take a look the following afternoon.

He replaced a worn-out gasket but said there was a screw missing, and he didn't have the part on him but said we should give him a call the next morning and he'd pop back in as soon as he could. Well, we never did get that screw replaced.

We called and texted and called again, and most of the time, the calls and texts went unanswered. Twice he responded and told us he'd be out that afternoon, but he failed to show up both times.

He didn't even call to tell us he wouldn't be able to make it; he just never showed up. After a couple of weeks of attempting to get him out here to finish the job, we gave up and replaced it ourselves.

So he never completed the job that we paid for. I guess I should have known better than to write the check before the job was complete, but I never thought he wouldn't come through.

Now, about a month later, the sink is leaking again. We tried to contact him, but guess what, no reply, so we had to have someone else come out and fix it.

Not what I would have expected from someone with over 80 5-star reviews! I can't say enough thanks and praise, he showed up in a plumbing emergency and stayed on the job till the job was done. He knew from the start it was going to be an extremely tough repair but never faltered and always stayed positive which for some pretty nervous people was a refreshing sight.

The rate was more than reasonable and we can't thank him enough. Tim was courteous, speedy and really really good.

Made our plumbing problem almost seem fun! Lo-stress and high efficiency is what you want in these situations, and Tim provided all that and more! Woohoo! This is my first review on Yelp...ever! Just like many users of Yelp, I've frequently gone on Yelp to search for good restaurants and services, but have been hesitant to put up my own posts, as I'm not much of a blogger. But Tim at TRZ is so deserving of my first review! I was a bit hesitant to pick someone from Craigslist without Yelp reviews, but I just needed someone to install my water heater for an inexpensive cost...and what a find I came up on! I've checked out a few other businesses, including those with 5-Star reviews on Yelp, but they all charge you an arm and a leg just for installation.

There was also this one guy from another plumbing spot who stopped by my place to look at my old water heater for 10 minutes, said he couldn't fix it, and suggested to replace the entire unit, plus charged me $50 for the 10-minute "consultation" fee. I ended up researching the net and fixed it myself.

This time, my water heater is completely dead, so I had no choice but to hire someone to replace the water heater. But I was so fortunate to find TRZ Plumbing! Tim was very accommodating in terms of time scheduling, since my water heater was supposed to be shipped to me last week, but didn't arrive until this week...and yet he was able to come in with no issues.

He explained what he did step by step, making sure that you understand why he did the things he did. He didn't try to upsell me on items that I didn't need, which I really appreciate.

You can really tell that he knows his stuff, and pays close attention to the little details...from the correct way to solder something to lightly sanding the pipes and adding paste so that the water heater doesn't create as much noise as water runs through the pipes. His knowledge in plumbing is quite extensive.

From what he told me, Tim actually used to flip houses before he decided to go back into plumbing, which would explain his expertise and experience. This probably also explains why he doesn't have any Yelp reviews.

But, I'm happy to write him a glowing review! I would most definitely recommend him to anyone who needs a water heater installed. Also, just in case you were wondering, the installation costs $150, which includes the removal of debris and also the old water heater! Tim to the rescue!!! We had a crazy last minute emergency and Tim came through with flying colors --- amazing! He was referred to me by a great contractor who said the best things about him --- great plumber, really nice guy, does fantastic work --- all true.

I called Tim, and he was on his way shortly. He completed the job perfectly and everything is right with the world again.

We were in such a bind on a Sunday night as our bathroom was clogged. Every time we used water the toilet in question would rise so we basically couldn't use any water.

Living in a relatively new home in a developing area of Brisbane, we've been lucky enough to not have any major plumbing issues since moving in. Recently, our luck ran out as an alarm for our pump went off one morning and we needed some plumbing expertise ASAP.

After calling a half dozen plumbers, I got either no answer or some variation of "the earliest we can get there is tomorrow between 12pm and 3pm". Luckily for us, Tim called back and said he could take a look at our problem later the same day.

Tim came to house and within a couple of hours of trouble-shooting our family was able to have running water in the house again! The primary issue at hand was a broken pump. Tim came back a couple of weeks later and replaced the broken pump with a new one.

TRZ resolved our immediate needs and fixed the source of problem. Brilliant! Tim may not always answer the phone right away, but he always returns phone calls.

He's an outstanding plumber: experience, thoughtful, meticulous, understanding, and best of all licensed! We were introduced by a GC, and have found Tim as our go-to guy. He's done several projects for us: his bids are reasonable and his work exemplary.

We couldn't recommend him more strongly. Initially Tim helped us install a water line to our refrigerator and fix a poorly designed laundry room drain.

The installation turned out to be a little more complicated than anyone imagined due to the construction in our house, but Tim did great work at very reasonable rate. A few months later, our sewer line backed up in the late afternoon.

With my wife was days from giving birth, we called Tim. He understood the many layers of urgency and he came by that night (after another project) to snake the line.

The next day, he ran a video camera to confirm the 50-year old tree in our front yard had clogged our sewer line. Tim pulled a permit to do the work, digging a channel through our front yard and our front walk to install cleanouts and a new plastic sewer line.

We've been flushing happily ever since. I am generally skeptical of businesses on Yelp that have the highest rating and reviews that are so over the top in praising the business and the people that work there.

However, I can honestly say that Tim and TRZ plumbing are the "real deal." I can unequivally recommend Tim, as a great plumber and someone that takes pride in his work and does the best job possible for his clients/customers. He is the type of plumber you would expect to work with a few decades ago, like a neighbor friend who is trying to solve your problem rather than trying to figure the quickest way to get it done and make the most they can off of your problem.

Tim will do whatever it takes to get the job done right and at a reasonable price. You really can't ask for more than that.

My Dad has a very old house with two very old sewer lines that both became clogged at the same time with roots that were almost impossible to clear. We worked with several other plumbers who couldn't solve the problem, gave quick off the cuff responses and weren't interested in doing anything more than the minimum to get paid.

Tim worked with us on a strategy that took a couple of weeks on one of our two sewer lines that, ultimately, avoided the requirement for a costly replacement of the entire line. Even more impressive, when our second line became clogged as well and was overflowing (emergency) he came out that same night, after working all day on other jobs.

He worked several hours in the dark (using just his truck headlights) until he got both lines cleared and working again. Any plumber can recommend replacing a line for several thousand dollars.

It takes a lot more ingenguity and honesty to work with a customer on a cost effective solution that may not be perfect... but is perfect for the situation.

Tim's the best! Is there such a thing as 6 stars? 10? I had a pretty minor plumbing need - replace the toilet fill valve. However, I don't want to do it, its a pain in my ass to do it myself, and a pain in my water bill to ignore it.

It had to get done. I'm honestly hesitant to write down all the ways Tim catered to me and saved the day for fear of setting an unsustainable precedent.

I can't imagine he can possibly maintain a business and consistently be this accommodating, this honest, and this helpful. Its really quite astonishing.

I know, the task at hand was relatively minor, but it was handled and completed with such adeptness and such amazing follow up that I feel confident it was a good indicator of Tim's business as a whole. I'm a single working woman, I'm not that handy, and I live in a sometimes questionable neighborhood (HP).

Tim was great. He came out and fixed a leak from a spout that had been leaking in the wall which had made a big mess.

He figured it out, found the part and fixed it at a price I could afford. Highly recommend ! After a couple of false starts (on the first occasion we waited an hour past the admittedly kind of loose "after 5" we had agreed on and then called only to find out he was still about a half hour away and we couldn't wait; the second time he accidentally double booked but for some reason didn't have our phone number to call and cancel), on the third try Tim showed up right on time and did an excellent, clean, and fast job installing a new sink disposal.

He's friendly, smart, and obviously very competent. Would definitely hire him again but just make sure he had our phone number this time! Long story short: Tim is awesome, very responsive and quick.

By the end of the evening he had replaced our faulty unit with a brand new one, and we had hot showers ready that same night. The water heater is only half the story.

We also asked him to look at our gas heater. Having just moved into the place, the heat had been left off after the previous tenant vacated.

Unfortunately, it was the middle of the only cold week in January, and sleeping there the night before had been...unpleasant. Now, the PG&E guy had been by earlier in the day, but he said he couldn't turn on the heat because he'd need to access the gas connection, which was located under the house in the crawl space.

He didn't seem super enthusiastic about the task, suggested we have the landlord hire a private heating contractor, and left us to the cold for another night. When we mentioned it to Tim, however, was immediately up for the challenge.

In the middle of a rainstorm, he crawled IN THE DARK through the mud and under the house to take his best crack at it. He spent almost an hour under there, in the cold, trying to get the gas on for us.

There's no amount of money in the world you could pay me to do that job, even in broad daylight. Tim is a total trooper.

Turns out the gas heater needed a new part that Tim didn't have on hand, but my girlfriend and I were extremely grateful for the effort. I never write these reviews, but this was a particularly noteworthy encounter.

I had to tip my hat to the man. Thank you, Tim! I called the top three plumbers in San Francisco and the soonest they could come would be MIDNIGHT with a $145 extra charge.

This guy arrived in 1 hour and did a great job. He cleared our drain's backup, scooped all the junk, bagged it, and even took it away in his truck.

Then disinfected and hosed the entire area. I'd give him six stars if I could.
