My in-laws have been using Yolo Plumbing in Davis for about 13 years. They recently passed away and my wife and I are responsible for the estate which includes selling a 60 year-old home in Davis.

We live three hours away, so coordinating schedules was paramount. We had a home inspection performed so we could address issues before putting the house on the market.

We trusted Yolo Plumbing to handle the plumbing repairs. While addressing the repairs from the inspector's report, "Billy" identified another leak by performing a simple "compartment check" (filling a sink with water and then letting it drain).

The new discovery required a second appointment. We scheduled to meet with "Joe" (owner) and "Ian" a couple weeks later to complete the work.

During the second appointment, Joe understood that we had traveled to get the plumbing and other work done. He could not have predicted what he encountered, but he and Ian stayed until 8:00pm to complete the work! It is apparent our home inspector did not perform the simple compartment check that Billy did.

Had a potential buyer ordered another home inspection that included this test, we could have lost a sale or been asked to reduce the price to compensate. These are good people! They're honest, friendly, professional, and reasonably priced.

They took the time to explain what is happening and why. They discussed issues with us before, during, and after repairs.

Their communication is excellent! We are grateful that they took the time and effort to not only identify issues, but to stay three hours after their normal quitting time to complete the work so we didn't have to schedule another appointment. Contractors like this are hard to find.

I had the owner come out with his years ( I believe 29yrs) of experience I don't understand how changing a kitchen sink would take 5.5 hrs. I have a new build home so it's not like I have old plumbing or someone has done any work on the plumbing before such as a remodel.

Also, do to them charging like they do ($330 first hour and $55 every 15mins) it felt awkward not being able to ask questions or even offer a bottle of water ( as I often do when I have a contractor do work for me) to him cause I didn't want him to stop and have him charge me. My wife and I felt there was no sense getting the job done in a timely manner.

They told us 5-7 hrs for the sink job but maybe sooner I really didn't think it would take that long specially with all those years of experience. YP replace a salt-based water softener by a non-salt based water filter (Springwell).

Joe was familiar withe equipment and performed a clean instaalation, including a bypass (useful for future maintenance. The price was very reasonable especially given the quality of the installation.

Last but not least, Joe and his staff are very friendly and careful. He provides good advice.

I am also a plumber but I am semi-retired I have met the owner at YOLO plumbing and have worked with them several times on projects that I no longer do. I only do service and repair now.

We had a seriously clogged kitchen sink that required the line to be snaked. Over 60 feet it turns out! I left a message and my call was promptly returned.

This is a small, independent family business and they were booked out a week in advance when I called; by asking to be in line to take any last minute cancellations, they came out at the end of the following day. The owner, Joe Weins, who was assigned to our job, is professional, friendly, honest and competent.

I will give Joe my business again with no hesitation. I've had these guys out twice and they are awesome! More details below, but here's the bottom line: If you have a home in Davis and especially if you have an older home, they are the people to call.

They really know their stuff, won't upsell you, and are great problem solvers that will try to repair something before recommending an expensive replacement. The first time they came to my home was to repair a running toilet.

The tech (Billy) and the apprentice that came out were able to fix the toilet really quickly, but they have a one hour minimum policy for their service calls. So Billy actually asked me if I was having any other issues that he could take care of in the extra time! While they were here, he also unclogged a sink drain, and went in the crawlspace and took pictures of our pipes so I could see what everything looked like, as we had just bought the house and I had a bunch of questions about the plumbing.

A couple months later when our water heater went on the fritz, they were the first place I called. They again did an amazing job replacing the water heater, explaining every step of the process and answering our many questions.

They even replaced the broken latch on the closet door! (Sometimes it's the little things.) If I have any issues in the future (and I'm sure I will, given this house's track record so far) they'll be the ones I call. I had a gas leak in my back yard that PGE confirmed but could not locate.

Bullseye plumbing told me I would need to repipe my entire house for gas because they could not locate the problem safely either. I called Yolo Plumbing and immediately got a sensible and thoughtful response.

Joe (owner) and Koty came out within two days, carefully reasoned out where the leak should be, walked me through every step they were taking. Isolated the leak by thinking about it in an experienced, rational way.

Then, they found and fixed it within the day. Just remarkable service.

They were as invested in being able to succeed without costing me thousands and thousands of dollars as I was. The work was done neatly and carefully.

My back yard was left in perfect order. Everything was professional, honest, transparent and effective.

Joe would have been a baby if it were 40 years. But, either way, he is a great and very experienced plumber! Our kitchen and laundry drains are connected to the same drain line that serves that side of the house.

It was plugged and we couldn't use the kitchen sink or wash laundry. Yolo Plumbing was recommended to us by one of their competitors who was super busy and couldn't get to our plugged line.

Yolo Plumbing came out the next day and snaked the plugged line all the way to the main line. The plumber encountered a hard blockage in the line that could only be cleared by a professional grade sewer line cleaner.

I know because I tried using my home model sewer line cleaner and hit the blockage, but couldn't get passed it. The plumber ran the professional sewer line grade cleaner back and forth to insure that our line was clear before he left.

Will definitely recommend them. We had Yolo Plumbing service people out today and they were FABULOUS! They asked me a service question I have never been asked before, "we haven't used up the whole service hour, what else can we help you with during the remaining time?" How cool is that?! They were very friendly, professional, and their work was excellent.

Yolo Plumbing is awesome! I had a toilet which decided to leak a few days before Thanksgiving (oh noooo!). The folks at Yolo Plumbing were pretty buzy but managed to get my toilet problem fixed quickly and very reasonably.

We wanted to replace our clawfoot with a more contemporary freestanding tub. We talked to a different plumber first who simply told us to replace it with a clawfoot and did not even want to give us an estimate for what it would be to replace it with a different type of tub.

Our experience with Yolo Plumbing was the opposite, before coming to give an estimate they asked for pictures of our bathroom, measurements, and details on the tub we wanted to replace it with. They did a lot of homework before even coming to provide an estimate (which was free!).

During the estimate, they took their time to draw out where the new tub would be placed to give us a very clear idea of how wide, high, deep it will be. When installation time comes, it was as smooth as can be and we couldn't be happier.

Previous plumbers had investigated and were suggesting a re-piping solution. Yolo Plumbers - Bill and Justin - first wanted to discuss any and all background information I had.

(What, when, where etc etc.) Armed with this information they proceeded to eliminate possible causes by checking the obvious first and progressing to the more complex. After about 45 minutes they pulled the dishwasher out and identified the root cause of the odor; name, an old mouse nest.

Throughout the entire process they kept me informed as to their progress and made a couple of suggestions regarding how to improve the operating characteristics of my plumbing system as they put things back together. I felt no pressure to add these "suggestions" to the work being done.

BEWARE. This company upcharged me for time the worker spent sitting in his vehicle in front of our house.

I spoke to the owner, "Yolo Joe" who admitted they could not account for 30-40 minutes that they billed. He then proceded to ask for an upcharge, from the base 1 hour, of $30 instead of the slick $100 they tried to finesse out of us.

Take in mind the job was a simple water heater flush and drain inspect. They might of been an honest good bunch at ome point but seem to have strayed far away from their local award winning reputation.

2020 I had been usingg one of the larger companies that kept me on a three-year member plan that was meant to give reduced pricing, yet every time I needed a repair the plumber would pull out his fixed-rate manual with exhorbitant prices. So, I decided to try Yolo Plumbing for a tub spout change, and I am glad I did.

The whole process of setting an appointment to completing the job was handled professionally with no pricing gimmicks. Joe did a very neat job, didn't leave a mess, and charged a fair price.

If you are in the area this is your go-to plumbing company. We called Yolo Plumbing this Saturday morning at 11:30am for our 13 year old home in Woodland.

We had a broken PVC line coming off the water main in the front of the house running into the irrigation system. It was leaking about an inch above ground level at the joint connector and we needed to replace the shut off valve to it too because it was corroded and wouldn't close completely, therefore the only way to stop the leak was to shut of the entire main line in to the house.

Jeremy was there in an hour, removed the broken line and corroded valve and replaced them both in 1.25 hours. No leaks, the price was reasonable and the service was professional and honest.

My call was promptly answered, the guy who answered (Travis?) was knowledgeable, he was able to make a next-day service appointment for us, and asked me to send a photo to ensure that they had the correct parts on hand, all of which I appreciate. I only cancelled the appointment because we were able to manage it in-house, but if I have something else that we can't handle, I'll def call back.

This is the only company I will call for any plumbing needs past me which is most :) They really treat you right even after the job is something comes up. The difference between them and anyone else is that they really want the customer to be happy, which on all occasions I have used them (3 now) they've stood behind that philosophy.

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! Joe (the owner) came out to check on an unusual problem we had with our toilet. He spent considerable time investigating and determined that we really did not need anything to be replaced.

He did not charge us for the visit even though it took quite a while. He explained everything wonderfully and was very kind and professional! We have used Yolo plumbing in the past as well and the costs were very reasonable and the technicians did excellent work.

The reason for the 3 stars instead of 5 stars is that it seemed to take him a while to hook up the water once everything was in place and once he was finished, when it was time to pay, it took him 45 minutes (while still on the clock) to put his tools away and figure out how much the parts cost so he could give me the final bill. By that time, a job that should have taken max 1.5 hours took 2.5 hours.

He agreed the process of looking up the cost for the parts was really slow, but it definitely should not have taken 45 minutes. I called the company and they refunded me for 30 minutes.

If I use them in the future I think I will negotiate how long the job will take before they start, so I don't have any unexpected surprises like this time. Great, honest service! Joe was super friendly on the phone.

The day of the appointment, an hour before scheduled time, I received a recorded call saying something prevented their keeping the appointment and if I wanted to reschedule, I was to call them and reschedule another possible cancellation. They obviously have more customers than they need.

So I called a competitor and had another plumber within 2 hours and not once dealt with a recording. I guess it depends on your definition of customer service.

They're THE BEST!! Yolo Plumbing/Bill Joseph came to my house to replace and repair the plumbing after the tenants did some major damage with their wrench. Bill explained and pointed out where, why, and how the faucets were broken and fixed all of the problems.

Yolo Plumbing did well on a small job to replace a water shut-off value for our water softener. The technician, Bill, was on time, professional and finished the job within one hour.

Work was fine, scheduling was easy, plumber was nice and did a good job. But ultimately, it was almost $400 to hook up a new gas dryer, even with an existing gas line.

That's just ridiculous. The connection was slightly nonstandard so needed a few parts from the hardware store, took almost an hour to get back, while charging me an hourly rate.

It is a 5 minute drive to the hardware store, you can get there, buy the things you need (especially if you're a professional who knows what to look for) and get back well within 30 minutes. Charged me for the parts, with an up-charge on each item (I went to the hardware store and priced the items).

When finished, sat in his truck for more than 30 minutes filling out the invoice, still charging me an hourly rate. Why I have to pay for the time it takes to figure out how much to charge is beyond me.

I just wish he called back The garbage disposal in my newly bought home was so rusted it was practically glued to the sink. My brother kindly offered to come over to replace the garbage disposal..something which should have been a quick replace based on the YouTube instructions.

After 5 hours of trying to remove the old disposal, we gave up. I found Field Family Plumbing via NextDoor and I can happily say I was not disappointed.

I called, left a message and received a call back from Gary within a day. We set an appointment for him to come and I warned him about the issue.

One plumber came out, barely peered into the crawl space and told us it was sewage and we'd need to hire a restoration company to clean it out before they would be able to tell us anything. Great service I have used this guy's several times in the last year and I was not disappointed. First used them to unclog my bathtub and they did a great job the last guy that came out was complaining how hard the work was and how it smelled.

I had a bad experience with my plumber from my home warranty who looked at my clogged pipe as an issue and instead of trying to give me options he threw up his hands and told me to call back when I figured out where my clear-out drain was. Well come to find out my house built in 1958 didn't include one.

I contacted field family plumbing the weekend after Christmas (Sunday evening) because I needed my line snaked out after it had become clogged. Water in my tub wasn't draining, and my garbage disposal was spitting carrots into my bathtub.

I called and within 2 hours the owner came out and fixed the issue within 10 minutes by snaking my main line. Every other company I called either refused to give me a price over the phone or provided me with an hourly rate that was far above the total cost charged by FFP.

FFP did the snake for a flat rate with no questions asked and no upselling. He let me get on with what I had to do to prepare for the coming work week with no hassle and I have had no recurrence of the issue.

Been in business for 8 years now. I called this company through a referral from a coworker.

So glad I did. I called on a sunday night for a sewer drain clog and Gary was able to come out Monday around 1pm.

He was very friendly and honest. I told him about the clog that was happening in the house.

He opened up the main drain from outside and asked me to flush the "bad" toilet in the house to test where the clog was. He was educating me through process and showed me the water flow in the drain.

He said the water was passing which means the clog is closer to the street. To further test, he took the water hose and started filling up the main drain outside.

When the drain started to fill, he confirmed the clog was closer to the street. He snaked the pipe and the whole process took less than 30 minutes.

The charge was $70! I am giving 4 stars because he was late. But he apologized and explained the previous customer unexpectedly took a little longer.

Communicated via text with someone (I believe it was Gary) but then he sort of just disappeared. Sent several messages to follow up over the course of several months and received no response.

Anyway, we had to move on and hire someone else to fix our problem. I used Gary to install three new toilettes at my home.

He gave me a good estimate over the phone; was prompt in setting up a time to do the job and did a nice job on the install. I will consider him for future jobs I have.

It took a couple of days to get him to my house, but it was worth the money I saved because thankfully, I didn't have a plumbing emergency. I'm sure I could've had roto rooter out sooner, but would've paid double the price.

I cannot say enough good things about Field Family!!! I called and made an appointment for the next day (Saturday) and Gary called to say he wouldn't be able to make it, BUT he came on Sunday and did an excellent job. Gary was fantastic and what I paid for the work done was so reasonable.

I would recommend, no I would urge anyone who needs a plumber to call Field Family Plumbing! Recently I've experienced many unexpected expenses and then the water heater goes out. I called Gary after reading other reviews and tell him I need a new water heater.

He tells me that maybe he can repair it. How often does that happen with a contractor? He shows up later that day with the part, fixes it for a small cost, and lets me know that when it goes out he will give me a solid cost estimate.

He's a hard working professional plumber with old school ethics, very hard to find these days. I have used his service twice.

We called Field Family Plumbing again, this time to fix our hot water heater, which had sprung a leak and flooded our garage. As with his first visit, Gary responded very quickly and fixed the problem for a reasonable price.

Wish all plumbers were as good as this. Gary from Field Family Plumbing came to our house today to clear a clogged drain.

He was ontime, very professional and charged us a very reasonable rate. We couldn't have asked for better service--he answered all our questions and performed his work without making a mess.

We had tried to snake the drain ourselves with a machine rented at Home Depot. It was heavy, messy and didn't get the job done.

I contacted Field Family Plumbing due to a drain stoppage affecting my laundry room and kitchen. Water was backing up every time I ran the washer and/or dishwasher.

I found Field Family plumbing off Yelp and read the good reviews. Gary Field showed up on time as scheduled and couldn't have been nicer or more efficient.

Gary just finished helping us out with fixing our hot water heater, saved us $500 compared to the other company we called. We had a leak and were without hot water for a few days while trying to deal with our home warranty company and the plumbers that were dragging their feet with their end of the process.

Thanks to Gary, who was willing to come out on a Friday evening and even through part of a Saturday, we now have hot water again as well as him fixing the clogged hot water line in our kitchen sink (something we didn't even ask him to do). He came out and worked very hard and competently on an installation job for me and charged me a very fair price. Then, due to a change I had to make in the job, he came out on a Saturday and worked for most of the afternoon and charged me way less than what the job was worth.
