I called Johnny Rooter and they came with another solution and ran a line further down while cutting roots. Johnny Rooter said it wasn't necessary to dig and replace.

I paid Extreme the first time to run a line, which cost more than Johnny, and they didn't fix the issue. AND Extreme didn't even apologize for the issue coming back within a week nor did they offer a refund or another solution other than the $16k option.

The kind woman who answered took all my info quickly and said someone could be a my house shortly (because he had just finished another job). Cameron was at my house in about 10 minutes! He quickly solved my problem - whew! The price seemed reasonable.
Besides that, Cameron was professional, personable and communicated well! Their phone number is in my phone now! I had a terrifying experience with Johnny Rooter Plumbing today. One of their drivers was dangerously reckless on the road, swerving, speeding, and cutting off other drivers, including myself.
I was almost involved in a serious accident because of their aggressive driving. It's clear that if their employees act this irresponsibly behind the wheel, it reflects poorly on their overall professionalism.

I actually had them repair my bathroom sink fixture [over] 1 year ago, which went well, despite the hefty service bill. So [Over] a year later, the same fixture started to leak, so I called them to come out and repair it....
however, sink fixtures are ONLY guaranteed for 1 year (how about them apples). The plumber comes out 2 days ago to repair the leak, does not have the [SMALL] part to replace what is causing the leak, in his [BIG] truck, so he has to go get it.
40 MINUTES later he returns to replace the part. I get home later that afternoon, and when I turn the handle on the fixture, the leak is WORSE.
I called to have them come and fix it again... 53 MINUTES to arrive and re-do the fixture and stop the leak finally.
"sorry for the inconvenience", he says sarcastically while rolling his eyes. They must think that everyone works at Google or Facebook...

Meanwhile they had a cancellation so they squeezed us in early. Remy was our technician, a nice, hard-working, and polite young man.

Called Johnny Rooter on TUE and they came out on WED to look at it.
Took about 5 minutes to diagnose the problem - explained it thoroughly and explained what they were going to do to fix it and options in case first method didn't work. The second method cured the issue - all done within 60 minutes.

A guy named Cameron showed up 30 minutes late and started showing an attitude. I asked him politely are you vaccinated and his answer was "Do you want to get the job done?" Then I asked him very politely if he could please wear some type of shoes protection because his shoes were very dirty and I did not want him walking on my carpet and spreading germs.
He paused, walked to his truck and drove away. He was rude and obnoxious.

Like many Austinites, I had a burst pipe during the winter storm. While I contacted over 25 plumbers, only three responded to me (Johnny Rooter, Touchstone Plumbing, and Stan's Heating, AC), and frankly I accepted the earliest date possible.
Though dispatch thought I wouldn't get an appointment until Thursday, I was contacted Tuesday with an opening. Not only did Kevin and Zach take care of my burst pipe, but they discovered another issue with a split spigot that they replaced as well.

This lesson I had to learn the hard way. I hired johnny rooter plumbing to extend a gas meter line on the side of my house and to coordinate with the gas company.
Give the the gas load and tell them when the permit was passed. They did neither.
I used them about a year ago and fired the plumber as he would not do what I asked him to do. I AM DONE! Very nice people but they have gotten crazy expensive.
They sent out two people (one appeared to be a trainee) on a non-weekend and non-emergency call. A garden hose faucet (bibb) needed replacing and I was afraid that I had messed it up since it would not come off and got a tiny bit twisted around.
The people were nice and decided that the only thing needed was to unscrew the old faucet (it took some muscles) and screw the new one on. The cost was just under $250! Seriously, they only had to unscrew the old one and screw on the new one.
Took about 15 minutes and they even had me turn the water to the house off and later back on myself. And the faucet itself is now crooked! I contacted the company and the owner feels that the charge is reasonable.
Too bad that he has gotten so greedy and charges so much. He must have a yacht payment due.

By this time it was around 1400 on Sunday. Johnny Rooter offers 24 hour/7 day service! That's awesome! Everyone I was getting at this point was offering next day service at earliest.
Within 15 minutes of calling Johnny Rooter, Cameron called. He gave me a quote of $177.
Ouch! But cheaper than $198 I was quoted from another company. Cameron told me he had two jobs in Pflugerville to do first and asked if that was ok.
I said "sure, let's go for it". I was fed up with my situation at this point and decided to take the hit on the quote.
Cameron called me during his second job to give me an ETA which turned out to be around 45 minutes. Cameron got to my house around 1730.
I escorted him to the problem, and told him all that I had done to fix it. He politely explained the dilution of the Draino, which I hadn't even considered and he told me why I was unable to snake it.
"You gotta hold your snake at 45 degrees to get it past the trap and twist it a certain way". I swear I tried all that.
I even tried the toilet plunger. I'm definitely not a plumber.
Cameron says "let me go get my tools sir". He comes back with his snake and drill in a 10 gal bucket.
I'm thinking, "I know the problem now. His snake is bigger than mine".
His drill was more powerful as well. Within 10 minutes Cameron had my drain unclogged and was rolling up his snake.
I would use this service again, especially Cameron. He was one of the most polite, professional and knowledgeable servicemen I've encountered.

Mike this time was awesome! I happened on line and found a coupon on their website- always a nice gesture! I was awoken to a strange gurgling sound from the toilet. Hmm, that's not normal! A friendly man named Cameron made my day. I have used this business in the past and, based on today's experience, shall do so again.
I wish I would have read their reviews first - these guys will overcharge and misquote you a price. 2 guys showed up (Dennis/Alex) - one was in training because the other kept telling him what to do - which is no big deal - but he was so rude and talked down to him and when I asked him questions he did the same to me.
Everything in my house was backed up - so they used a machine to unclog my main toilet but the machine was too big to fit in my other bathroom. They said they used another tool in the other bathroom - but I didn't watch what they did and they told me they couldn't unclog it.
They then told me they didn't have the right tools to unclog my washing machine. He told me to unclog my sink and bathtub would be an extra $75 so I told him I would do it myself.
They then gave me a bill for $312.50 and all that was done was unclogging 1 toilet. He then said I would not get a 30 day guarantee because the problem was most likely that I needed new pipes from my house to where the city connects to theirs.
When I asked about unclogging my washing machine he said another truck with the right equipment would have to come back but it would be another $140. The receipt says $152.50 for sewer then $170 to pull and reset each toilet @ $85 each.
That was never quoted to me on the phone. I went with these guys to try and support a local business - big mistake!!! Coleman with Johnny Rooter did an excellent job finding a gas leak I had near my grill and fire pit area.
He was on time and was very professional. I would definitely use them again and recommend to anyone! I am a retired customer service manager.

Problem fixed. Looking forward to a long hot shower! Our shower had been slowly backing up for a few weeks, and it finally got so bad we had to call someone.
Draino was not doing the trick! Will from Johnny Rooter came out the next day and thought that something had fallen down the drain and gotten stuck, and this was what was causing the clog, so he shot it down the pipe with his air gun. Hooray! Problem solved...
until it wasn't anymore. Within a week, the shower started to back up again, and then the water from the bathroom sink started coming up through the shower drain.
Uh, oh. We called Johnny Rooter again, and they had someone at the house within the hour.
Turned out we really needed the rooter to flush this clog out. The first attempt with the airgun had simply pushed the clog further down the drain past where the shower and the sink plumbing comes together, hence the sink water coming up the shower drain.
There was no charge for the second visit, and they had fixed the problem in under 10 minutes. I would totally recommend Johnny Rooter because they are fast, efficient, and genuinely care about keeping their customers happy.

Sent a plumber quickly on a Saturday to repair an broken pipe. About an hour after the plumber left we noticed water in the problem area, called them back and they came back quickly to check out the situation.
No leaking since, and they stand by their work. I have now used Johnny Rooter in 2013 and this week.
Both times were because the toilet wasn't flushing, but the two issues were caused by different problems (broken flange and lime buildup). Both times I had the same great experience.
First, the customer service over the phone discussing my issue and scheduling was clear and friendly. Second, both times we had Dennis look at our toilet and both times we got super friendly service.
Needed to fix a toilet leak and they came right away! Joseph knocked it out super quick and, well, saved the day TBH! I have used their services four or five times for plumbing issues at my rental. I had been happy with their work until the last time I called them.
I had them come and replace some bathroom fixtures. Instead of calling and going over their plan/an estimate of how much it was going to cost beforehand, they did the work and then sent me an invoice after it was done.
It cost twice as much as I expected. If I would have known how much it was going to cost, I would probably not have consented to the work.

Beware of this company, because they will overcharge you if they can, and if you try to talk to them about it, they will become argumentative. I had a leak under my sink on a Saturday.
A plumber from Johnny Rooter was called. By the time he came, my neighbor had already come and helped fix the problem.
The plumber came in, noted the leak was fixed, looked briefly at the water damage, and left after about 30 minutes without any work being done. On Monday I received an invoice for $75 for the service call, and $168.50 for the "labor".
A total of $243.50. The cost for calling them and having him come I understand.
The labor charge was not justifiable in any way. When I called the Johnny Rooter company and spoke to the representative, explaining no work had been done and there are three witnesses to the fact, I was told $243.50 is the minimum charge for any call on the weekend, and that I should not pursue it.
Their charging system seems quite shameless in this respect. I see there are several other people on Yelp with similar stories ("service cost twice as much as expected", "paid for a service but nothing was done", and many stories of no mention of costs until the invoice was received with exorbitant charges.
I have only used them once, and never will again. I will also do my best to spread the word that this company should be avoided.
