Thanks, bro! We had a lot of plumbing work done at our house recently. We have a leaking faucet for filtered water.

The plumber told us to buy a faucet and go to Hirsch to get the 1/4" coupling so we could convert and attach it to the under sink hot water heater. From the moment we arrived, the Hirsch team made it clear that they didn't want to help us or sell us anything.

My wife, Trina, is a daughter of a plumber, but they were set on making her feel stupid. I guess if you are a male plumber or a general contractor, you'll have a good experience.

If you are a woman, expect to be humiliated. Apparently I'm not a member of their club.

Waited 20 and I was told they didn't have the replacement for me and just shrugged their shoulders. I went elsewhere and got the same treatment.

When I went home I found the well hidden part number and called. I was told yes we got it in stock.

No mames buey. If you are an actual plumber.

I'm sure this place is great. But if you are an average person trying to do DIY.

Then I would go elsewhere. Don't expect the staff to help you.

No greeting from staff. Was told they don't have what I'm looking for despite the fact that I provided pictures and a clear explanation of my common plumbing project.

It was quite clear that the man helping me just wanted me to leave and didn't want to be bothered with helping waiting customers (I wasn't the only one). He didn't even offer to go grab someone who might be more of assistance with my needs.

Such a shame. Been here before great place to buy plumbing supplies especially when you don't find them in home depot they will have it here or the send you to different vendors that's good business I am a General Contractor and deal with companies like this daily, but Johnny from Hirsch Pipe & Supply is the best sales rep I've spoken to in very long time.

He was extremely knowledgable and helped me find the big pipe needed for this project. I will be back.

Have many items in stock that are hard to find at the bigger stores. They were very helpful in assisting me too! Thank you.

They have find parts, seismic shut off valves, and things you wouldn't find in Home Depot. The staff are not very knowledgeable so you have to know what you're looking for.

They are also about 30% cheaper than the plumbing supply I have in my neighborhood in Burbank. I had to do 12 seismic gas shut off valves, glad they're around to provide the parts.

I would like to acknowledge Ernie Maldonado's kind help. The plastic knob on my shower faucet (a rather unusual design) cracked recently, making the shower inoperable.

Contacting my plumber, he advised that he had purchased the unit from Hirsch Pipe & Supply on Gower Street, so off I went to find a replacement. I discovered that Hirsch primarily serves the plumbing trade, so -- without a part number -- figuring out exactly what plastic knob to order was rather more complicated than expected, what with the huge inventory of items carried at this location.

Notwithstanding I was just a retail walk-in customer, Ernie was very helpful, taking pictures of the broken knob and contacting the manufacturer on my behalf to procure a replacement. He called back shortly, saying the manufacturer would be sending the part gratis (I guess there's a lifetime warranty).

The part arrived and -- it turned out to be the wrong part. Nonetheless, Ernie persisted, taking pictures of the broken knob together with the part sent by the manufacturer and again emailing the images back so his contact could better identify the item.

Ernie contacted me today to advise that the correct part had arrived. And so it had.

Even though Hirsch did not make a penny on this transaction and I am not likely to become a major customer (not having plans to take up the plumbing trade!), Ernie through his professionalism created a lot of goodwill. Thank you, Ernie.

I had a leaking bathroom faucet and I discovered that the cold water cartridge needed to be replaced. My first instinct was go to Home Depot, but even though I purchased the faucet there, they only had the hot water cartridges for my Price Pfister sink.

I then went to some place called Rompage which had favorable Yelp reviews, and again, they only had the hot water cartridges. The lady at Rompage claimed there was some kind of "restriction" on the cold water cartridges and Pfister was indefinitely refraining from sending them to any stores.

Hmm ok. She told me to just buy a hot water cartridge and it should do the trick.

Uh... no bitch, that would not do the trick, as they spin in different directions.

Even I know that. So I decided to give this Hirsch place a shot since it wasn't too far from Rompage.

Their slogan is "Hirsch has it!" and what do you know... they fucking had it! Oh! And it was half the price that both Home Depot and Rompage listed it for.

At first, I was kind of concerned about their "take a number" system, as I was in a rush to get back to the office, but I ended up getting served rather quickly and the dude who helped me found the part within 30 seconds. So I'm pretty sure their system actually saved me time.

Faucet is fixed! Side note: they had a poster hanging on their wall that said "Join Hirsch in Portugal!" It wasn't a raffle, no. It was an invitation to join a trip to Portugal with the employees of Hirsch and presumably some plumbers.

Ernie is a up and coming manager and will bend over backwards to help you. And the Store Manager is Hector funny and smart guy.

The other sales people are just as good. If you do not have an account there, or are a plumbing contractor, dont waste your time.

The lowly individual customer is told via a large sign to stand aside and wait until all the contractors in the count boulders are served including ones the walk-in after you arrive. I will even when there's nobody else in the store and nothing else for them to do....

only then will they help you ....and then, God forbid you dont know what every plumbing piece is called or used for. It always amazes me that these stores with counter guys are always the same.

They know little about much else, but they are better than you because they are "experts" in the field they work in 40 hours a week. Amazing.

Never enough people at the counter to help. Takes forever to get in and out of this place.

Building is easier having a real plumbing supply near by. If they think you're not a plumber I get the feeling they will tell you they don't have it, especially if it's a small order.

Went here with a friend to get some plumbing supplies for her new restaurant. Ernie and all of the other guys that helped out were very helpful.

They did not have some of the supplies in stock, but gave us the number for another shop nearby to see if they could help. They have a small parking lot by the entrance.

The place was not the cleanest, but I guess that's to be expected from a plumbing shop. It reminded me of the small town farm supply stores I used to go to with my dad.

Help yourself to some of the brewed coffee after you grab your number and wait! Pretty much the go to place for plumbing materials. The staff at the location are knowledgeable.

We had called them to replace a toilet valve. The guy came up and said I will charge you a 120 dollar "diagnostic" fee which was not disclosed.

When we raised issues, he made racist comments saying "you Arabs are always problematic" These comments are unacceptable even though I was not Arab so I sent the person promptly away. Do not deal with racist individuals $600 to unclog kitchen sink.

I'll buy a drain snake and do myself I had my sewer line replaced on Thanksgiving morning and I'm not happy with the process that we went through. they destroyed my yard with the machine they used to dig up the sewer line.

I told them that it's unacceptable with the way they backfilled the hole...today is January 28 2024 and my yard still looks like they dropped a bomb on it..bad enough they charged me 15,000 dollars and I can't even have my yard back the way it was. well I guess I will probably spend a few more thousand dollars on having a landscaping company fix what rotor rooter did...if anyone wants to see my yard before you hire them your welcome to see it.

please do not use them I would rather hire a blind excavator operator with not arms to dig my yard... I recently discovered sewage backing up into my basement (YUCK!), and not sure how long it had been happening before we noticed the smell.

Needless to say, I called Roto-Rooter. They had someone snake the pipe, and immediately give us a quote to clean up the disaster it had caused.

They also inspected the rest of the line with a camera incase there was anything else going on. Their cleanup crew were the true superstars- full hazmat suits working until 7:30pm...

and Roto-Rooter is dealing directly with the insurance company- so hopefully that helps streamline the process! We did have their plumber quote a separate but related steam pipe leak- but I decided to go with my local/regular plumber for that- at 1/2 the price! Roto-Rooter is amazing for messy, emergency projects, but I'll always prefer my local plumber for non-urgent issues. I worked with this company twice.

The first time in 2022 and again in 2023 for a plumbing issue. In 2022 I did not have the funds to complete the job so I delayed until 2023 .

I called them back thinking I would get the same or similar pricing. They more than doubled the price and had a hole in my basement for several days because I refused to finish the job with them after having the sales person up charge me.

Don't do it. Not a trustworthy company in my opinion.

They came out and did an amazing job with replacing busted pipes and making sure our home was running securely. Although the whole team that helped with cleaning and restoring was amazing.

Beware their charges, estimates and the attempt to exceed the necessary services. I called the service for a regular clogged sink and toilet, and the technician claimed we needed to remove the toilet for $1,600.

We knew that was BS, so we told him to try snaking it. He kept resisting, saying that it wouldn't work.

We insisted, and of course, it worked. And then he upcharged us like crazy for just snaking the toilet, even though when booking the appointment, they told us the visit itself wouldn't cost anything.

It took the technician less than 5 mins to unclogg. I never write reviews like this but I was genuinely terrified from my experience with Roto so I am going to share.

My toilet was clogged at night and I only have one bathroom so I had to call a plumber quickly. I called Roto and kept asking for a ball park quote but they would not give it to me.

After two hours they sent a plumber to my apartment and HE QUOTED ME $500. Ridiculous.

I negotiated it down to 300 but he kept trying to add additional charges / services that I TOLD HIM I DID NOT WANT. He also made me sign the invoice paper BEFORE he filled out the form / added the price and charges.

SO SKETCHY. As a woman alone in my apartment, I was terrified.

He was able to unclog my toilet with a machine quickly, but then he spent 15 minutes "filling out the invoice papers." When I finally got the bill he tried to only give me $100 off (which would make the service $400). That was NOT what we agreed on.

Finally he put the correct amount. Then, I told him my credit card number and the app he was using would not take my credit card, so I had to go get him cash at an ATM.

DO NOT USE ROTO. They are insanely overpriced scammers and extremely creepy especially if you are a woman alone in your apartment.

I am actually crying. I feel the pricing to have someone come out here to basically do nothing but tell me i needed another service was insane.

I called to see if there was something they could do to offset the $650 bill for 30 mins and they gave me a $20 off coupon. Lesson learned, people do your research before calling them.

They "snaked" my main line, $350, then i asked for a camera, they couldn't get use it because i needed another service where i was quoted $1250, and still charged for for the camera which he coudlnt "see" which was another $300. I just called another place and they said that was insane and they would have charged, if anything $300 to snake and take a look.

I am giving a one star Just for price. They charged 500 for just a simple bath tub clog in my drain.

Had I not been in a rush, could have hired someone else for much much cheaper I called to have a leaking faucet fixed in my bathtub. When the representative showed up he wanted to tear out the whole wall.

I told him I didn't understand why they would have to rip out the wall as the research I did online said it was most likely the cartridge in the faucet handle. I got a second opinion and the new plumber fixed it in 20 minutes.

It went from a wall rip out to just changing a simple cartridge saving me a lot of time and money. I don't know what that particular plumbers experience was but he was definitely over selling the job.

you will be better off waiting for your local plumber or a master plumber. They are sloppy and leave you with a big mess and damaged property.

These plumbers would be considered novice or apprentice in any true plumber shop. USE SOMEONE ELSE!!!! The worst.

We had a clogged sewer line so I called what I expected to be a reputable business - Roto-Rooter, but nothing could have been further than the truth. Called Friday (3/17/23) and they sent someone out immediately.

Guy comes in and after doing zero investigative work of any pipes says "we are going to need the jet guy to come out". Turns out this guy had limited experience, was not a tech, and had no authority to make that decision - more to come here.

Jet guy shows up by himself at 8pm and works his butt off trying to fix the problem. This guy I have no issue with because he had zero support, and clearly limited experience with no formal training.

$1,800 (yes, you read this right) charge. Next day same problem, so nothing was fixed and I'm out $1,800, so I called again.

Saturday (3/18) morning jet guy shows up first thing and tries to remedy the situation. Then what seems to be a closer called "camera guy" shows up around 10a and runs the camera through the line.

Camera guy immediate disclaimer: "I'm in the excavation end of the business so I don't know (or clearly take any responsibility for) what has happened here." Remember: same company. Really zero issue with the line except for a "root" about 16' out that seems to be blocking the line.

Camera runs over 100' with very little issue with the exception of this 'root'. Now comes the up-sell.

"Well, there is clearly a root issue in your line and I think you need to have the chain service to clear the line." Our iron line is 30' until you hit clay - the clay was completely clear and, but for the "root" and some accumulated sludge in the iron pipe, the line was clear. "That will be $100 per foot or $3,000 to clear just the iron line", says the camera guy.

WTF? You charged me $1,800 for nothing at this point and now you distance your business (excavation) from the other (jet guy) even though you are the same company? Nice. Quality service.

But it gets better... "But what I recommend is to excavate the pipe because it's clearly at issue or put in an outside trap...that will run you anywhere between $12k and 15K." say the camera guy.

Ok, I'm done with these guys. I get the bid for the line (chain) clear, get a copy of the video, and schedule service for Monday (3/20).

I immediately reach out to friends and family for professional recommendations and ultimately cancel Roto-Rooter. Professional recommendation comes in and snakes the line (this is important because IT WAS NEVER DONE BEFORE BY ROTO-ROOTER).

Issue at about 16' was confirmed. New group runs a camera and determines that the issue is not a "root" but rather a the head of a toilet brush stuck in the line blocking solids.

This all takes about 30 mins. So let's recap: * Roto-Rooter sends un-qualified and un-prepared employee out to determine job characteristics that doesn't do any actual work - NOT EVEN TO SNAKE THE LINE - and calls jet guy * Jet guy works hard to no avail * Camera guy screws jet guy by saying "different departments" and tries to say "all is well - trust us - the company will do right by you" * Camera guy gives me crazy $$ bid for work that doesn't need to be done and talks to management to "get to the bottom of this" and says someone will be reaching out to discuss.

TO BE CLEAR: I waited 24 hours to Sunday (3/19) afternoon to see if anyone from Roto-Rooter would call...crickets...and as I'm writing this on Monday (3/20) night, still nothing. * Camera guy admits that the person sent out was a recovery guy (clean-up only), was not a "tech", and had no business making any determination on the problem.

* Further, camera guy's information shows that a "tech" did show up. I can tell you that this is complete BS and CYA at it's best because nobody else showed up and they know they f-ed up.

New group fixed the issue immediately and we are back in business. But for the hard work of the jet guy I would have given Roto-Rooter no stars.

Avoid at all costs. Unable to clean backed up sewer line.

Trued for 20 minutes and wanted to charge $300. Our septic pipe had backed up into our finished basement leaving about of a quarter inch of sludge approximately 16 sq ft area on the floor.

We called Roto-Rooter and they got there within an hour , fixed the clog and then recommended that they remove all the baseboards and replace all the sheet rock up 2 ft from the floor. I thought this was unnecessary as the sludge was only on a small part of the floor and was removed within a few hours.

In addition, they recommended their cameraman come in and take a look to see what other problems there may be in the sewage line. When their servicemen came several days later he looked into the pipe with the camera and said that the pipe was completely collapsed before it got into the septic tank.

He estimated that the cost would be approximately $9,000 to replace the septic line. I dug the septic line out myself and saw that there was no collapse anywhere in the line.

In fact, the whole pipe seem to be in perfect condition . I believe the problem was that the cameraman focused on a 45Read less
