I agreed because I could certainly understand it was a complicated job (and still way less than the first quote I received). This was a tough job from start to finish! Fedo was willing to call another guy out to assist in moving the dishwasher out, without having to remove the countertop- this saved me more money and was greatly appreciated! It took 4-5 hours to complete the whole job, but I am so glad to finally have my kitchen properly plumbed! Everything is working well now and their work is guaranteed for three years.

He was very professional and friendly. Once the checkup was over, he told me everything looked good and the furnace was running fine.
I told him that he had made my day and a heavyweight was lifted off my shoulder. He stated he was glad that he was able to help.

Service was prompt, but the toilet still leaked. They came back and tried again, but the fix did not work.
They said it required that we lift the flange, but that they would credit the original costs paid against the final costs for this additional work. However, then the person I was in contact with ghosted me, and I've had to fix it elsewhere.
Spoke to owner of the company and he took the time to review photos and let me know the probable issue and likely cost. Was able to send someone out in a timely manner.

I had an incredible experience with Champion Plumbing!! Gus came out early on a Saturday to look at my issue. He provided a free quote that was both reasonable and, more importantly, didn't change.
He is a really lovely person to talk to in addition to being reliable and responsive. Fedo and Jason came about a week later to complete the work.
They were both so incredibly nice, and were good sports even when a small snafu (not their fault!) made the job run longer than expected. They installed two new toilets and fixed a leaking, wobbly sink in around an hour with no noise and no mess.
This is the same sink that another company said couldn't be repaired and had to be replaced. Gus, Fedo, and Jason were total pleasures to work with, very honest and upfront, and easy to schedule.

He worked for nearly 4 hours on December 26 until he ultimately determined the cause of a blocked pipe and was able to fix it. Reasonable price given the time it took to fix.
Champion will be the first place I call next time I need a plumber. We recently wanted to replace/ upgrade two faucets and a toilet.
Spoke to Gus who was very understanding and attentive. He understood what I wanted to do and quoted me a reasonable price.

Bad leak from inside the garage ceiling, called this place and they were great, starting from the actual call--Gus actually tried me back after we didn't connect right away. He also saw the note we sent to the website.

Honestly, the worst. Difficult to communicate with, scheduled work then no call no show.

If you look at all the one star reviews, they are the same. No call, no show, ignore phone call, no answer.
And all the response's are getting mad at the customer, lengthy excuses, etc. Seems like if the job is simple and goes well, great.
But if any issues come up, they are very impatient, and customer service deteriorates quickly. Take your chances, or go elsewhere if you can.

Arrived exactly when he said he would and performed repairs efficiently and with a professionalism that I appreciated. The repairs were for a leaky bathroom faucet that I just could not get corrected on my own.
In the process of the fix, Jason showed me some things about my unit that I did not know existed with regards to the water flow and gave tips on home care when on extended trips. This was grade A service, all around.
I bought an old house with a slow kitchen sink drain. Technician arrived on time and identified a massive accumulation of grease and grime from deep in the line.

I am starting to see more clearly that his MO is to lure 1st time customers in by being nice & offering modest discounts but he doesnt really care about repeat business or fixing people's problems. Owner gets defensive/seems to have anger issues that come out when things don't go perfectly from his own pov.
I originally wrote a longer post with details of my experience that included him canceling the 1st appt (he's blaming me now, his version is inaccurate) & the bill getting jacked up by $200 on account of a phony reason. My original post was deleted when I updated this & I'm too tired to re-post.
But as you can see, Gus spends a lot of time on this website, sometimes distorts the facts & smears his customers. Not professional & disappointing.

I contacted Champion about a couple of plumbing problems (a broken drain inspection cover that needed replacing, and a broken switch that changes the water from bath to shower in the tub). When I called, they asked me to text photos of the problems, which I did promptly.
I heard nothing back. Over the next few days, I sent two follow up texts, but never heard back from them.
I had a leaky tub faucet and Fedo came promptly to fix it. I think he was very reliable and professional, and I will call again with future plumbing wor.
Champion was awful to me. No communication, no professionalism.
I called them yesterday about a hot water problem in the shower, and they said they'd come fix it today. Today arrives.
I spent all day - morning to late afternoon - trying to get in touch with them - calling and texting. They miraculously answered right away when I used a different phone, and the person who answered still had no info for me.
Finally when I said I'd take my business elsewhere, they said they don't have the part and they'd have to come tomorrow. They advertise as 24/7 service, but basically said they'd be doing me a favor because they don't work weekends.
When I said their communication is poor, they became very defensive and said to go somewhere else. I was polite but frank.
They were evasive, dishonest, and defensive. I'm sure they'll make time to comment here, when they should be taking time to be responsive to customers.
My condo building won't be using their services anymore. Happy New Year! Gus answered the phone at 4:45 PM on Friday afternoon and didn't blink when I told him my dire drain problem.
"We can be there tomorrow morning." A plumber on Saturday? Whoa. As promised, Fedo arrived by 10 AM, listened to my (panic) issue and immediately diagnosed the problem, answered all my questions, told me what it would cost (a lot less than I feared) and got to work.
Within 30 min he was done and we could use the washer and dishwasher without fear. Thank you Fedo & Gus.

I was very pleased with everything Gus did to fix my bathroom shower. The problem ended up being a lot simpler than expected, and he basically came and tightened and adjusted all the pipes without having to break down any of the drywall! He also explained everything in detail so I knew what to do in the future.
He is very honest and I will definitely be calling him if I need anything else fixed in the house! just nowNew-Edit Nothing special here. Decent enough company when everything goes right but the attitude changes dramatically when work they perform doesn't solve the problem.
We paid $850 to have a drain cleared that was backing up into our toilet in the basement bathroom. As you can imagine, I was less than thrilled when less than two weeks later I was spending my Saturday afternoon cleaning sewage out of that same bathroom that backed up from the same toilet.
I texted Gus but never received a reply. When I did reach him on the following Monday I was greeted only with defensive refusals to take any responsibility for the problem despite the fact his company had supposedly cleaned that same drain less than two weeks prior.
He even suggested we'd have to spend another $600+ to have his crew come back and see why their first repair didn't work. This was all incredibly frustrating as we have three young children and we needed to know the problem was fixed so they could all go to the bathroom etc...
When pushed to own the issue he, as others have reported, resorted to the tired game of childish name calling, insults, and false bravado. He did ultimately suggest the city may be on the hook for the issue and made the necessary report for them to come.
While this was appreciated, the fact it literally took 6 hours of increasingly inflammatory texts on his end for him to finally take that step rather than just doing it when I first called is beyond me. Unfortunately, when the city did come they just confirmed the issue was not on the city's end which left us right back where we started.
By this point, Gus had made clear he never wanted to speak with us again and the feeling was quite mutual after dealing with his antics literally all day long so we decided to find other options to deal with the issue. We had used Champion for several years for a number of issues, including installing a new hot water heater and a couple of other drainage issues and they were generally fine during those occasions and I even enjoyed talking to Gus who is, when in a good mood, an enjoyable guy to talk to.
Thus the three stars on this review. Of course, what I care about most, however, is how a company responds when their work wasn't perfect and the customer didn't, perhaps, receive the best service to address the problem.
I certainly understand mistakes happen but I'll never understand why a company would rather insult, and obviously lose, a current customer than just stepping up and acknowledging that the first attempt at fixing the problem didn't work as planned and seeing what they can do to remedy that. Obviously I'm moving on and won't be using Champion in the future and, based on Gus' colorful language in his texts with me, I'm guessing he's fine, maybe even happy, with that.
You may receive good service from these guys but think carefully before thinking they should be your go-to plumber given the possibility (probability?) they will leave you high and dry like they did with my family. Gus picked up the phone and was able to schedule Chris the same day to fix a drain issue.
When the issue was larger than first expected, Chris went to Fragers for more materials and finished up the job in the same day. Thanks for the punctuality and quality work! The owner Gus picked up my call right away.
After I explained the issue, he said the overflowing is caused by a small clogging issue of the toilet and I already solved it by plunging. He said I don't need to waste money on a plumber and gave me a helpful tip on checking if there is any leak on my own.
I had requested quotes from other companies, and the one from Gus was very competitive. He was able to come out during the window he provided and fixed our problem very quickly.

We were replacing two pedestal sinks with vanities in our master bathroom. Champion Plumbing was able to schedule us within only a couple of days.
The gentleman who arrived to perform the work showed up on time and quickly completed the project without needing any guidance or assistance. He just did his thing.
I appreciated that at one point he was talking on the phone (presumably with his manager) and I overheard him say that he was going to be awhile on this project because "this is nice stuff and I need to do it nicely." He helped unclog a storm drain just in time for some crazy dc weather this summer. He was punctual and really went above and beyond to get the job done.
My water heater randomly switched its pilot off over the weekend (such fun haha) and I didn't realize it until I was about to shower at 1 in the morning (because who needs to sleep?). I did what any IT tech nerd would do and looked at YouTube and then realized I shouldn't probably be messing around with my gas line and a grill lighter at 1am so called this provider via panic Googling.
The owner, Gus, responded immediately and actually guided me through restarting the pilot which is apparently all electrical and won't make my house explode. lol.
He is so honest and practical and gave me price ranges for best value should I need a follow up house call (weekend, emergency and weekday rates). He helped me understand there is no real emergency assuming the heater restarts and it's basically spring so the aquatherm heating system is less critical this time of year to prevent frozen pipes.
We discussed my water heater brand and it not being great, the brand his business supplies and several warranty options. So far so good on relighting the pilot; my water is warm again, and he wouldn't take money when I asked about my panic call rate :) so I want to give him awesome reviews instead.

After several unreturned calls, was defensive and unprofessional on the phone. When our washing machine and kitchen sink both stopped draining recently, we called Champion plumbing and they were able to get someone here in under an hour.
Chris (the plumber who came) was very professional, explained everything that was going on, and had our drains going smoothly in no time. He stayed and ran the water for a good while after finishing the job just to make sure we wouldn't have any more problems, and he left everything as clean as he found it.
I also very much appreciated the transparency with regards to pricing. We were given a price over the phone and assured that we would not be charged any more than that price no matter what they had to do to clear the drain.
In the end, they even knocked off $25 from that price because we were first-time customers. Overall, we were very happy with the service and will call Champions again if we have any future plumbing problems.
I been having an issue with an outside drain for about 2 week now that would back up and cause my basement to flood. I first called the drain fighter jetting and drain cleaning to see if they would be able to help solve the issue.
They snake my outside drain 100 ft and did some hydro washing but that didn't help solve the clog. They said it was a bad grease problem.
I had to leave town on July 30 for 1 week and Yesterdays( Aug 6) after coming back from out of town I see that the basement is flooded back again so I placed a call to champion plumbing on aug 6 at 3 pm to explain my issue. Gus said that it might be possible an issue with something in the house.
He was nice and estimated that the cost would be around 850$ and would do camera check for free since I been shopping around for a plumber. I scheduled an emergency service to come today( Aug 7) at 8am.
So this morning I am waiting at 8 am to see when a van would pull into my drive way. 15 min pass and I'm thinking maybe they just going to be a little late.
Then 8:30 am come and I gave this company a call and it goes to voice mail saying that they are out the office. I call again at 8:35 am and left a message saying that we had an emergency service appointment and to call me back with my phone #.
One hour pass and is now 9:35 a.m and still no show and no one even call me back on my phone or texted. This is very unprofessional and what make it worse is that this was for an emergency service.
I will no longer be using this company and will call someone else to come help me. DC Water increased the water pressure to our house causing our hot water heater to blow the emergency release valve.
Gus and his team came out the next day on short notice, fixed the hot water heater, and also installed a pressure reducing valve at the water main's entry to my property which took care of the high water pressure in our home. We were very impressed with their communication, professionalism, fair pricing, and quality of work! Had them out to fix a few minor issues around the house.
Gus picked up the phone immediately (not always true these days!), and they came out the next day and made the repairs. There was an issue with one of the initial repair, and another technician, Fedo, came out right away and was able to take care of it without an additional charge.

1- had a faucet that would not turn off and the shut off valves were stuck. Champion plumber Jason came out promptly and on time.

2- I had backup in main drain, causing lots of problems- champion plumbing came out first thing next morning. Plumber Jason came and owner Gus stopped by - that was just this morning but seems like week ago.
I still don't know how this back up happened but Jason brought some high powered equipment to clear it out. Gus and Jason spent time explaining things to me, which I really appreciated.
He also put a camera down the line and again explained things to me and showed me some videos. 3- shortly after jason departed, oh my goodness - another unrelated problem developed.
Water wasn't draining from utility sink and then the drain pipe BROKE! Can you believe it. Wow - I contacted Gus, the owner- he asked for a photo and we talked about different options for scheduling and he sent Jason to me that night! So Jason shows up again.
He started the day with me first thing in morning and ended his day shortly before 9 pm at my house. This is not my week for plumbing.

The first time I scheduled an appointment, I followed up the day of (morning) and the owner cancelled on me when I called. He said he wasn't going to come that day because of snow.

I was willing to work on his time. This as going to be a 3 hour job max.

This was unbelievable service So, I rarely write reviews, but in this instance, I had to make an exception. We discovered a leak in the basement on a Thursday night in the utility room ceiling.
It must have been going for a while based on the amount of water pooling on the floor. After placing calls and leaving messages for scores of plumbers, we called Champion on Friday afternoon about 1:30pm.
Many of the others could not schedule us for several days, did not service our area, or were not even in the office until next week. Gus answered the phone and said that Chris would be out between 3-5.
Chris arrived on the front side of that window, diagnosed our issue and source of the leak, and completed the repair within 30 - 45 minutes. I can't say enough about these guys.

Gus was very responsive to my calls and texts regarding issues throughout the repair process. I will use them again for any plumbing issues.

Wow! Had a "miscommunication" with one of Gus's (the owner's) employees. Have since deleted my comment.
Gus's response? He provided his personal cell phone number and, personally, came over that day to assess the problem. Turns out my kitchen sink leak was coming from my garbage disposal.
Again, that day, Gus arranged for 2 of his plumbers to come over and replace the disposal. Outstanding customer service AND work! Forever my "go to" for any plumbing needs!! The best! Had service scheduled between 2-4pm with Gus for a leak.
He no showed and was unresponsive to texts/calls. Highly unprofessional.
This was my 2nd experience with this company, the first one went well, but I will no longer be using them. We called Champion as a first time customer for a sewage backup in our main line 2 weeks ago.
They charged $750 to snake it out and the plumber told us he snaked it 105 feet and the problem was resolved. Less than 48 hours later it backed up WAY worse than before he supposedly fixed the problem.
When I called to ask them to come back I tried explaining what happened and was hung up on. Turns out the person who hung up on me was the OWNER of the company who wld only speak w my husband.
I called back a few days later and the owner laughed when I complained that they hadn't done what they claimed to do and told me he'd "see me in Court". Only after I told him I'm a lawyer did he suggest calling WSSC.
He clearly has an issue w women, is a bully and is completely unprofessional. Oh and his plumber didn't do what he said he did.
I would never use this business again! This is one of the most (if not THE most) responsive plumbing companies I've ever dealt with. I called Champion in hopes that they would be able to help us with a sewage obstruction that we were encountering and they came on site within the hour.
I've never experienced anything like it (and this was on a holiday weekend). As it turned out, this was county issue and not an issue with our home plumbing.
We were offered all of the information we needed to have the obstruction removed and everything rectified. Overall great customer service - thank you, Champion! We just bought a home and there were some time sensitive plumbing needs.
We needed to have the inside home main water shutoff valve replaced, in addition to a leaky spigot out back. I called to make an appointment and Champion Plumbing was able to come out same day to review our issue and the following morning to resolve both of our plumbing issues.
They worked efficiently and for a fair price. We'll definitely consider them again for future plumbing needs.
Called to see if they could scope a line after a shoddy contractor had "accidentally" put cement into our basement utility sink; unlike every other plumber we called, Gus was willing to come the next day. Although I know very little about plumbing, I thought that Gus was very honest and upfront with us about our situation and he did a thorough job.
He sent one of his guys over the next week to install a new utility sink for us, and again, we were really happy with the service and now we can finally do laundry again. I like how, despite us both being women who clearly know nothing about plumbing, they both talked to us like we're intelligent adults and answered all our questions.
They will definitely be my go-to plumber. Very grateful for Gus and his team.
They performed emergency plumbing service at our new home and really saved us. I'd use them again for any plumbing service in the future.

I love fixing things myself but my plunger didn't do the work nor a 25ft long powered snake that I had rented from Home Depot. I had previously contacted a different plumber who didn't end up showing up for two days in a row and I was beyond impressed when Gus knocked on our door on a Friday evening within 90 minutes from the time I first messaged him on Yelp.
Did Gus fix the kitchen sink? Yes. Was he in and out in less than an hour? Yes.
Did we learn a couple of plumbing faqs from a plumber with a 20 year experience? Absolutely. We totally recommend him! Good job Gus! Next is getting Gus to change our 16 year old water heater.
We discovered a leak coming from our ceiling on a Saturday. I called a bunch of plumbers I found on Yelp that said they were open or had emergency services, but Champion actually picked up the phone and was able to send a plumber out in a matter of hours.
The owner of the company was the plumber who helped us, and he diagnosed our leak (pinhole leak in our copper pipe). He showed me the leak, told me what it would cost to fix it once he knew what he had to do, and was done within an hour.
He also caulked around our toilet, which wasn't even related to the leak! 100% would hire Champion again. Gus was super helpful on the phone and via text message.
Not only for the initial issue that I originally requested but he also helped me for free when I called (on a weekend) with a completely different issue. Excellent emergency service.
Called early this morning with no hot water --needed the pilot light on our gas water heater relit. Two hours later, everything was done, and the serviceman came from a substantial distance, 45 minutes away.
After many years of using Ben Franklin Plumbing, Champion will get our call from now on. And BTW, thanks to other Yelp reviewers who used Champion and recommended it highly.
This Company is very real. All the places I called last night that was suppose to be 24 hours wanted to schedule me for tomorrow.
Not one company I called would come out last night BUT Champion. This is the company to go with Champion! he was very personal and cared about our situation.
He came out and fixed the problem and the price was excellent for what he did. You can't go wrong with this company and I will use them again.
I Thank you Champion. A chip clip went down the toilet causing a stoppage and we called Champion to come snake the line.
Gus told us no problem--they would snake it from the top and if that didn't work they'd pull the toilet and snake it from the bottom and they'd get it out. They were able to come the next morning and did show up on time.
Things went downhill from there. Chris was surly from the moment he arrived and declared we needed a new toilet after he was unable to remove the clip from either direction.
They charged $125 for basically detaching our toilet from the floor. When we asked what they would charge for a new toilet he quoted us $650 just for the toilet, which is crazy expensive.
Gus said he would call me back and never did. Chris said they'd send a receipt and they never did.
Just saying... We won't be using this company again.
We found out about Champion Plumbing through Yelp. We reached out and received a response almost immediately.
Gus and Jason showed up right at the beginning of the two hour window that we requested. Both arrived wearing covid-conscious measures, masks and gloves, and even wore shoe coverings as to not damage our floors.
Once here, they assessed our drain issue, explained why our drain had clogged, and handled it quickly and efficiently. I will definitely not hesitate to reach out if we have any other issues! Came out on a Saturday afternoon and unclogged a drain.
Great service! We recommend to our friends. We needed a new water heater and Champion got it done for us on the same day we called.
They were great about talking through our options and helping us figure out what we needed. Chris and Jason did a great job removing our old water heater (which was a challenge to drain since it was so busted), installing the new one, and answering my questions about it.
We called them after having a hard time trying to work with a different company, and the experience with Champion was so refreshing after that. For same day service, Champion really comes though.

It is common for an emergency visit to have at least one attempted up-sell, since homeowners are often panicked and willing to do whatever. These guys not only avoided that, but also walked through how other commonly recommended solutions would not work in our scenario.
