I called Solace and Barry came out. He quickly diagnosed that contaminants had gotten into the main body of the faucet and the faucet had failed.

I bought a new faucet and will take up the warranty with the company and Barry installed the new faucet. It looks and works amazing now!! Charged my elderly parents over $1300 for this breakdown. 1) Cut into wet drywall ceiling in the garage (easy access) with a water bubble, no repair of drywall after - approx.

$50 worth of exploratory work 2) Replaced ABS/PVC bathtub drain assembly - max $100 worth of parts 3) Replaced a shower valve cartridge - $100 max for the part 4) Total labor time of less than 2 hours - $200/hr if extremely expensive labor rate This should have been a sub $800 job for the most expensive plumber before we get into rip off territory. Most honest plumbers would be in the $500-$600 range for this work.

Absolutely disgusting they would over charge so much to an elderly couple. Another flag that most will not catch is that there is no consistency with this business.

Simple Google search will show 3 different addresses on Jersey Blvd, Rosebud Street, and Sunflower Avenue on sites all updated within the last several years. While they do have an active CA contractor license with proper bond and insurance filed, they are not BBB accredited.

If you read their review responses on Google and elsewhere, you'll see they justify their high prices with insurance, office staff, fuel, etc. Well, other plumbers also have the same expenses, so explain that.

These people say they are a family owned company...well, I'm sure karma will come for their family. I've been a Cusotmer of Solace (formerly The $25 Plumber) for decades.

Barry and his team have never let me down, and they really KNOW plumbing. Don, also with the Solace team, is courteous, never seems to stop working and has a true understanding of plumbing issues.

We have been with Solace - formerly $25 Plumbing for more than 15 years now. Over the last couple of months we have had them come by a couple of times for urgent - not quite emergency - work.

Water heater stopped heating last month. Don came to look at it the day we called.

Fixed it and did a service / overhaul at the same time. Second job was a toilet where the flush mechanism was leaking.

Again, they came quickly and promptly, Unfortunately that time something went wrong with the repair and we had to call again within a week. The good news there is that Sean came right away, found what had gone wrong in the first repair and fixed it with no delay.

The good news again is that he did not charge us for the second visit saying that there should not have been a problem after the first visit and it was Solace's responsibility to fix it. Thanks.

We appreciate the thoughtful customer service! I have been using this company (formerly $25 Plumber) for nearly 20 years. I need to apologize to them for not writing a review earlier (that's really not my thing), but I really need to spotlight this exceptional company! Barry and his team have provided so many varied services to us over the years-leaky faucets to clogged drains to updating old fixtures to replacing a complete HVAC system.

Plus rescuing us multiple times with same day service when our A/C stopped worked 30 minutes before we were hosting a holiday party, or when a leaky valve forced us to shut our water off to the whole house. They are awesome! Our recent emergency was the leaky valve, where we had to shut off water to our house on a Friday evening.

They responded immediately to my "911" distress call, and Sean arrived within about 60 minutes. He was able to fix the problem quickly and cleaned all surface areas in the bathroom when he was done (including areas that weren't even in his work area).

Sean was so courteous and knowledgeable, and I so appreciate his leaving the work area so clean! We are very satisfied with the service and quality they offered. Our a/c was unrepairable after 40+ years.

The price for a brand new unit was reasonable and I love that it's a family owned. With the summer heat, they installed the new furnace and a/c in 2 days.

$25 Plumbing, Heating & Air Conditioning advised my wife they would notify her via text 30-45 minutes prior to them arriving. My wife ordered a second business (Mr Rooters) with intentions to get the fastest service possible (we considered our situation kind of an emergency and she would cancel whoever was coming second, considering the promised text) Driver from $25 shows up unannounced without text and sees Mr Rooters van.

Clearly irritated, the driver yells to my wife holding our 1 year old in our driveway "Thanks for cancelling me" with sarcasm. Then he has the audacity to call her and yell at her, like actually yelling, about completely wasting his time??? Completely unprofessional, and even worse disrespectful.

Family business Called to schedule an Air Conditioning diagnostic as air was coming out hot. They confirmed appt for 2 to 4 pm.They never showed up! When I called receptionist stated they sent a voice mail saying they were not coming ,which they did, however I was not at my phone when they called.

They never followed up to make sure I received the message. I had tenant give up a day of work for an appointment Solace Plumbing was never going to show up for.

I believe this company operates at a beginner level for a business at best and definitely not up to the profession al standards of their counterparts. I would definitely not trust them to examine my HVAC system or work on it.

He no showed 3 different days after the initial visit. Claimed he was on his way multiple times so i left work then he never showed.

He never gave an estimate for the water heater pressure relief valve before starting the job. When he sent me an email with the invoice ($1,400.00) ..

he added charges claiming he fixed my kitchen sink when he came inside to wash his hands for 30 seconds. I had to ask him to leave because it was almost 9pm and he was taking apart my outside lights in front of our property.

STAY CLEAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Not impressed at all. I simply had a stripped bolt in my toilet tank that needed to be replaced by somebody with better tools than I have.

About a $2 bolt and the time it would take to remove and replace it was the entire job. I stated this to the receptionist on the phone.

Plumber (Kevin) shows up and tells me I have a options of $600, $800, and $1,100! All to replace the entire toilet. I told him multiple times that the toilet was fine I just needed the bolt removed and replaced.

He played dumb and kept offering me the same ridiculous quotes. I sent him on his way but of course I still had to pay the $90 service charge just to get offered 3 different levels of ripoffs! Curious why their service fee is almost 4 times the amount of the price in the business name?! It took me awhile to post this because I was embarrassed that I did not do my homework. I had just lost my husband and really not thinking too well.

I needed a toilet replaced and when I spoke with the receptionist she stated it would be $69 for the consult and would have to pay that if they didn't do the job. The plumber showed up quickly and gave me a quote of $493 to install a toilet I had bought at Home Depot.

I gave approval and the job was done in an hour. The caulking job he did around the bottom of the toilet was terrible.

I felt I was taken advantage of being a female and I have learned a lesson from this. This company is truly excellent.

If you think hiring a professional is expensive, try paying for an unprofessionals mistakes. We called $25 plumbing when our outside unit started making a buzzing sound and the fan wasn't spinning.

Barry came out, heard the noise and immediately seemed to know what the problem was. 45 minutes later our unit was on, fan was spinning and our home was like an ice box exactly how we like it.

I couldn't get it to light. Don came out, no mask, who diagnosed the problem in 20 seconds without any luck relighting and quoted me $653 for a thermocoupler replacement, $2,783 for a new water heater install and $4,333 for a tankless water heater.

Talk about super high prices. A premium 50 gallon, 12 year warranty tank is around $750.

Also when Don tried to relight unit, I said no thanks for the quotes and he said it was $49! Ridiculous but I paid. As I went back into my house, he left the gas supply line valve on and the gas pilot dial on.

I had to shut off the gas supply line and annoyed Don left it like that, careless. Needless to say, I got my $49 back.

Not sure what the $25 advertising is for. Beware of high prices.

My air conditioning unit was leaking in my ceiling. Brandon and Bryan came out and diligently looked for the source of leak.

They were able to fix the problem in no time. They even changed my air filters for me.

Thanks you again!! I made an appointment with this company for them to check my water heater because the pilot was out; so everything was good to go. I got home, waited for them to show up for the appointment and nobody came.

So I called the office asking if someone was on their way and the guy put me on hold for a while only to say that someone would be contacting me. So I waited for a few minutes and I called back and he said the person I needed to talk to was still on the phone and would call me back.

So I waited for over an hour for someone to call back and to this day (almost two weeks ago) no phone call. I had to call Roto Rooter that evening and someone came out, cleaned my water heater and and got it started for me that same day.

I will never go through this company again. Very unprofessional! My wife had them out before and let me say this, it will be the last time I call this company.

Kevin arrived at my house promptly and was able to snake the drains out to the main line and clear the clog that was affecting my back to back bathroom sinks. The price was reasonable, the work was completed professionally including clean up, and once again I am a thoroughly satisfied customer.

The plumbing problem was solved. The reason for the 2 stars, is the plumber left the drain open for debris to be able to come in, and left the hazardous waste he cleaned out, in my front yard, he also overcharged me.

The overcharge was immediately taken care of. But, the open drain and hazardous materials were not.

The plumber called me about the complaint. The conversation went like this, "my job said I left waste materials and the drain uncapped, I really don't remember coming to your home, I must have been distracted, maybe when your husband was talking me I started doing something else and forgot, it wasn't intentional, maybe the line got clogged again and blew the cap off." Really in 24 hours? My plumbing is working fine, but the waste is still in my front yard, the cap is still off, I still haven't received the pictures that was suppose to be emailed to me.

Oh, and the part about my husband distracting him...hmmm I was the only one home, if you don't even remember doing work at my home, how can you remember a husband distracting you? Very good experience for me! Everything was very expensive. Workman turned on faucet to check system without taking stopper out of sink in the bar, causing a huge flood in the bar all over the counter, in drawers and cabinets, soaking everything in its path, including wood floor.

It took hours to clean up and they seemed unaffected by their oversight. Destroyed boxes used to store special serving trays and dishes.

Hopefully, wood floor was not destroyed because cleaning lady caught it when she heard water running onto the floor. Not satisfied with the service of the water heater unit yet, but they did come out the same day we called.

Called Barry late Saturday afternoon and he was there within 30 minutes on one of the hottest days this week. Thankfully a simple fix...even said it was probably due to a batch of power failures this week one after another.

So now we have another great business for help with HVAC..or plumbing! Reasonable rate, considering it was an emergency trip on a busy weekend! Our tankless water heater stopped working and we called this "$25 company." The lady who answered the phone quoted $79.00 dollars for a plumber to come to our house and inspect the heater. A plumber named Don showed up, looked at the heater (did not touch it), and said that it would be $450.00 to remove the cover from the heater to let us know what was wrong with it.

When we said that this wasn't explained to us, Don responded that the $79.00 was for him to show up and not an inspection. I am reporting this misleading and deceptive practice to the better business bureau.

They totally misrepresented their services. In addition, Don made a sexist comment about women, when my wife said price was too high just to look at the heater without repairing it, he said "women have no problem spending this money on shoes." He was also making faces when I refused the prices he was quoting.

At the end, we had to pey him $79 and he did not tell us what was wrong with the heater. I called for a estimate and someone came out quickly.

That was the only thing good about this company. My insurance company called to get some information and a person who wasn't.

I have no hesitation in recommending $25 Plumbing, Heating, and Air. From the initial phone call to the completion of the job - inspecting for a gas leak- all went well.

There was a thorough interior and exterior inspection of the gas meter, gas appliances, furnace, water heater, gas turn on/off valves, etc. As a bonus, while inspecting the furnace, the filter was checked with the recommendation that it be replaced to improve both heated and cooled air flow.

The plumber went about his task professionally. He gave explanations in layman terms and had a good personal demeanor.

The cost for doing the work, on a Saturday morning, was well within my anticipated costs. In fact, since the pricing was very reasonable, I will ask $25 Plumbing, Heating, and Air to give me an estimate for the replacement of an outdated, energy guzzling air conditioner and heating system.

It turned out that the advice was not correct in the sense the local hardware stores (Lowes/HomeDepot) do not carry the part with advised specifications. It turned out to be a wrong and costly advice.

The major problem with this company is: plumber technician never gave an estimate of charges. neither do they say how long the job takes.

Not sure Don was competent as he could not uninstall the old part. He did not have correct tools to remove the nuts from the old equipment and he had to go to the hardware store to buy a new tool.

In the whole process, it took over 3 hours to complete the job. Then he laid it on me that since it took more time than their usual (1 hour, it seems), now they will charge $125 per hour and asked for a total of $500! Now I lost an entire afternoon and lot of money (I negotiated to a lower amount) to resolve a simple repair.

Only saving grace is he finished the job. So, if you want to engage this "professional plumbing company", please ask for fixed price charges upfront.

I moved from the area and wanted someone trustworthy and professional to handle the problematic tankless water heater at my rental property. The tech called me and based on my description of the problem I was given a range of probable causes and fixes ranging in price from $100 to about $3,000 (cost of a replacement unit...

parts only) . They called my tenant and promptly arranged an appointment.

I was called from the property and told that after a thorough inspection including diagnostics that all that was needed was an intake-screen cleaning (my tenant, a mechanic and welder, swears that they do this regularly). An hour and only a $135 trip charge later I was a happy customer.

The tenant commented that the tech was professional, clean and speedy. The next day the tenant called and reported that the problem wasn't resolved.

I called the tech back and left a message. He texted me back and agreed to call the tenant to arrange a return visit.

After two days with no news I called the tenant and no contact had been made. The tenant said that they had called and were texted that he'd be back out soon and he'd call ahead to arrange the hour.

After a day or two he still hadn't come. It was late so I texted and again and had gotten no response by the following afternoon.

I couldn't wait any longer. My tenant was beginning to share their understandable frustration with me in frequent calls and texts.

I called another service specializing in tankless water heaters. They went straight out (a Friday afternoon).

I was soon called from the property by the specialist and while we spoke I was sent pictures of my water heater's burner assembly and the error codes stored in the unit's memory shown on the tester hooked up to the mother board. The burner was corroded and was beginning to disintegrate from the outside in and required replacement which costs nearly as much as a new water heater.

My tenant was present for the inspection and independently corroborated all of the information the specialist gave. It became clear that the $25 Plumbing and Heating tech hadn't truly inspected the unit and had gambled on a token effort to get him in and out.

The entire unit was replaced by the specialists the next day (Saturday) with upgraded ventilation and plumbing to prevent the problem from occurring in the future. The bill including all parts and labor, and credited for the previous day's $110 visit was less than $3,000...

I'll buy a drain snake and do myself I had my sewer line replaced on Thanksgiving morning and I'm not happy with the process that we went through. they destroyed my yard with the machine they used to dig up the sewer line.

I told them that it's unacceptable with the way they backfilled the hole...today is January 28 2024 and my yard still looks like they dropped a bomb on it..bad enough they charged me 15,000 dollars and I can't even have my yard back the way it was. well I guess I will probably spend a few more thousand dollars on having a landscaping company fix what rotor rooter did...if anyone wants to see my yard before you hire them your welcome to see it.

please do not use them I would rather hire a blind excavator operator with not arms to dig my yard... I recently discovered sewage backing up into my basement (YUCK!), and not sure how long it had been happening before we noticed the smell.

Needless to say, I called Roto-Rooter. They had someone snake the pipe, and immediately give us a quote to clean up the disaster it had caused.

They also inspected the rest of the line with a camera incase there was anything else going on. Their cleanup crew were the true superstars- full hazmat suits working until 7:30pm...

and Roto-Rooter is dealing directly with the insurance company- so hopefully that helps streamline the process! We did have their plumber quote a separate but related steam pipe leak- but I decided to go with my local/regular plumber for that- at 1/2 the price! Roto-Rooter is amazing for messy, emergency projects, but I'll always prefer my local plumber for non-urgent issues. I worked with this company twice.

The first time in 2022 and again in 2023 for a plumbing issue. In 2022 I did not have the funds to complete the job so I delayed until 2023 .

I called them back thinking I would get the same or similar pricing. They more than doubled the price and had a hole in my basement for several days because I refused to finish the job with them after having the sales person up charge me.

Don't do it. Not a trustworthy company in my opinion.

Beware their charges, estimates and the attempt to exceed the necessary services. I called the service for a regular clogged sink and toilet, and the technician claimed we needed to remove the toilet for $1,600.

We knew that was BS, so we told him to try snaking it. He kept resisting, saying that it wouldn't work.

We insisted, and of course, it worked. And then he upcharged us like crazy for just snaking the toilet, even though when booking the appointment, they told us the visit itself wouldn't cost anything.

It took the technician less than 5 mins to unclogg. I never write reviews like this but I was genuinely terrified from my experience with Roto so I am going to share.

My toilet was clogged at night and I only have one bathroom so I had to call a plumber quickly. I called Roto and kept asking for a ball park quote but they would not give it to me.

After two hours they sent a plumber to my apartment and HE QUOTED ME $500. Ridiculous.

I negotiated it down to 300 but he kept trying to add additional charges / services that I TOLD HIM I DID NOT WANT. He also made me sign the invoice paper BEFORE he filled out the form / added the price and charges.

SO SKETCHY. As a woman alone in my apartment, I was terrified.

He was able to unclog my toilet with a machine quickly, but then he spent 15 minutes "filling out the invoice papers." When I finally got the bill he tried to only give me $100 off (which would make the service $400). That was NOT what we agreed on.

Finally he put the correct amount. Then, I told him my credit card number and the app he was using would not take my credit card, so I had to go get him cash at an ATM.

DO NOT USE ROTO. They are insanely overpriced scammers and extremely creepy especially if you are a woman alone in your apartment.

They "snaked" my main line, $350, then i asked for a camera, they couldn't get use it because i needed another service where i was quoted $1250, and still charged for for the camera which he coudlnt "see" which was another $300. I just called another place and they said that was insane and they would have charged, if anything $300 to snake and take a look.

Had I not been in a rush, could have hired someone else for much much cheaper I called to have a leaking faucet fixed in my bathtub. When the representative showed up he wanted to tear out the whole wall.

I told him I didn't understand why they would have to rip out the wall as the research I did online said it was most likely the cartridge in the faucet handle. I got a second opinion and the new plumber fixed it in 20 minutes.

It went from a wall rip out to just changing a simple cartridge saving me a lot of time and money. I don't know what that particular plumbers experience was but he was definitely over selling the job.

We had a clogged sewer line so I called what I expected to be a reputable business - Roto-Rooter, but nothing could have been further than the truth. Called Friday (3/17/23) and they sent someone out immediately.

Guy comes in and after doing zero investigative work of any pipes says "we are going to need the jet guy to come out". Turns out this guy had limited experience, was not a tech, and had no authority to make that decision - more to come here.

Jet guy shows up by himself at 8pm and works his butt off trying to fix the problem. This guy I have no issue with because he had zero support, and clearly limited experience with no formal training.

$1,800 (yes, you read this right) charge. Next day same problem, so nothing was fixed and I'm out $1,800, so I called again.

Saturday (3/18) morning jet guy shows up first thing and tries to remedy the situation. Then what seems to be a closer called "camera guy" shows up around 10a and runs the camera through the line.

Camera guy immediate disclaimer: "I'm in the excavation end of the business so I don't know (or clearly take any responsibility for) what has happened here." Remember: same company. Really zero issue with the line except for a "root" about 16' out that seems to be blocking the line.

Camera runs over 100' with very little issue with the exception of this 'root'. Now comes the up-sell.

"Well, there is clearly a root issue in your line and I think you need to have the chain service to clear the line." Our iron line is 30' until you hit clay - the clay was completely clear and, but for the "root" and some accumulated sludge in the iron pipe, the line was clear. "That will be $100 per foot or $3,000 to clear just the iron line", says the camera guy.

WTF? You charged me $1,800 for nothing at this point and now you distance your business (excavation) from the other (jet guy) even though you are the same company? Nice. Quality service.

But it gets better... "But what I recommend is to excavate the pipe because it's clearly at issue or put in an outside trap...that will run you anywhere between $12k and 15K." say the camera guy.

Ok, I'm done with these guys. I get the bid for the line (chain) clear, get a copy of the video, and schedule service for Monday (3/20).

I immediately reach out to friends and family for professional recommendations and ultimately cancel Roto-Rooter. Professional recommendation comes in and snakes the line (this is important because IT WAS NEVER DONE BEFORE BY ROTO-ROOTER).

Issue at about 16' was confirmed. New group runs a camera and determines that the issue is not a "root" but rather a the head of a toilet brush stuck in the line blocking solids.

This all takes about 30 mins. So let's recap: * Roto-Rooter sends un-qualified and un-prepared employee out to determine job characteristics that doesn't do any actual work - NOT EVEN TO SNAKE THE LINE - and calls jet guy * Jet guy works hard to no avail * Camera guy screws jet guy by saying "different departments" and tries to say "all is well - trust us - the company will do right by you" * Camera guy gives me crazy $$ bid for work that doesn't need to be done and talks to management to "get to the bottom of this" and says someone will be reaching out to discuss.

TO BE CLEAR: I waited 24 hours to Sunday (3/19) afternoon to see if anyone from Roto-Rooter would call...crickets...and as I'm writing this on Monday (3/20) night, still nothing. * Camera guy admits that the person sent out was a recovery guy (clean-up only), was not a "tech", and had no business making any determination on the problem.

* Further, camera guy's information shows that a "tech" did show up. I can tell you that this is complete BS and CYA at it's best because nobody else showed up and they know they f-ed up.

New group fixed the issue immediately and we are back in business. But for the hard work of the jet guy I would have given Roto-Rooter no stars.

Avoid at all costs. Unable to clean backed up sewer line.

Trued for 20 minutes and wanted to charge $300. Our septic pipe had backed up into our finished basement leaving about of a quarter inch of sludge approximately 16 sq ft area on the floor.

We called Roto-Rooter and they got there within an hour , fixed the clog and then recommended that they remove all the baseboards and replace all the sheet rock up 2 ft from the floor. I thought this was unnecessary as the sludge was only on a small part of the floor and was removed within a few hours.

In addition, they recommended their cameraman come in and take a look to see what other problems there may be in the sewage line. When their servicemen came several days later he looked into the pipe with the camera and said that the pipe was completely collapsed before it got into the septic tank.

He estimated that the cost would be approximately $9,000 to replace the septic line. I dug the septic line out myself and saw that there was no collapse anywhere in the line.
