Oh no!!! Had a water heater fail at 6:30 in the morning where the drain valve popped off and dumped 30 gallons of hot water all over my place. Cleaned it up and proceeded to find a plumber that would answer the phone at 7:00 in the morning.

Left several messages with about half a dozen plumbers in the area and Jim at SmartRooter was only one to return my call within the hour. He truly is on the ball 24/7, which led me to believe he is truly about customer service.

After hanging up, he was here within 50 minutes...talk about caring, I like it! He and his crew were masked ala COVID, courteous, and protected the work surface...they demonstrated that they were truly are professionals even before turning one wrench. As 99.9% of us have that dread of the unknown house problems and if who you called would get it done right.

Smart Rooter is the real deal. In my case it was clear that the unit needed be replaced, since it was way over due, who knew water heaters needed to be replaced every 15-20 years, its not a life time item folks.

Jim also diagnosed a problem with the "isolation valve" in the plumbing which also needed to be swapped out since the valve was 30+ yrs old along with the water heater. He got that replaced while pulling out the old unit.

They came back with a replacement water heater and necessary hardware in a couple of hours. Nice to see they had a true plumbing brand unit with them and not some do it yourself big-box store unit, you truly get what you pay for in my experience.

They spent the next few hours setting up the water heater with requisite hardware and safety parts. And finally took to the time to double check functioning and explained the settings on it.

In less than a day he got the job done and hot water was running at home again, yay! I wouldn't hesitate to call Jim and SmartRooter again. He took the time to explain what the problem was, came up with a fair quote, got the replacement, installed it properly and cleaned up...no plumber dread or butt crack here.

We live in a hundred year old victorian house. Everything is old and needs replacing.

I remember my dad mentioned to me in the past it would have to be changed out. Luckily, Jimmy answered my inquiry via text message.

After the many attempts of thinking it was a clogged toilet, plunging and plunging it did not budge. The water came back up, and air bubbles.

I figured it needed to be snaked or was the sewer line eekkk. I just wanted it fixed asap, all this on a Sunday, Jimmy snaked the line multiple times and it didn't work the pipe in the camera looked bad.

It was the main sewer line! He and his crew came back next morning and were able to replace the pipe! Some days ago, my washer head was leaking like nobody's buisness and I needed help pronto! Enter Smart Rooter and Plumbing. I was recommended by my good friend since she just got a job done from them.

That said, I was really lucky in find a real, honest, and responsive plumber. I requested an estimate from Smart Rooter yesterday evening around 7pm.

Jim called me within 30 minutes and was at my parent's house in Alameda by 8pm unclogging their sewer system. He promptly finished clearing the line and found an old piece of plumbing stuck in the sewer left by my dad trying to fix a clog many years ago.

I'm glad I found a new plumber! Called me back right away and came within a couple of hours after finishing a job nearby. Jim is a really nice guy and worked quickly to solve our issue (clogged toilet - only one in the house!).

I will definitely call him again! Jim is the best. Came out after another plumber was unable to complete the job.

They made an appointment about an hour later and came through. They discussed with us the root causes of our leak and they were ok with working immediately.

A portion of the piping had to be replaced, and the damaged ceiling had to be cut out. Started at 3 PM, were done before 6.

Wow! Arrived very quickly for a last minute urgent plumbing need. It was a quick and easy fix caused by a poor attempt of a dishwasher installation.

That is a whole other story - except to say stay away from Apogee Installation! The fix was so fast, just something I did not feel I could handle, due to fear of making the situation worse. Quick, easy and no charge!! So nice!!! What great service!! Jim is awesome.

He got back to me right away even tho it was close to his closing time and a Friday night. He did a great job and was super meticulous and professional.

He even showed me another area where water was leaking and offered to give me his caulking material to apply when area dried up. He will now be my go to plumber.

Sunday morning 12/31/17 (NYE) greeted us with a barely flushing toilet and the sound of water leaking below to the basement...ugh. We frantically called some folks with the slightest hopes we might find someone to come out that day.

Jim was the first to return our call and said he was finishing up a job and could be over in just over an hour. Amazing, we lucked out.

Beyond that, Jim was pleasant to work with and thoroughly fixed (and tested) the problem and was in and out in less than an hour. He is clearly knowledgeable about his work and we won't hesitate calling him the next time we need a plumber.
