Review and analyze now for company Works Plumbing and provide the analysis in the discussed format for the following reviews: '''Omar provided me with a couple of options for my clogged main sewer line. After using their mechanical plumbing snake with a camera monitor Omar pointed out in couple of places where roots were the problem in several places.
Using their specialized pipe cutting tool the roots were quickly shredded out and hydro blasted completely clear to the Daly City main sewer line. I like to support the local business in the San Mateo County and for any plumbing issues or problems I call Works Plumbing.
The service from Omar was excellent. Thank you Jorge for the great Works Plumbing Team! You want the best then Works Plumbing should be your next call for plumbing work...
My toilet tank was not filling up properly and my bathroom was beginning to smell like a urinal and would not flush. I contacted Works Plumbing to fix the issue after my regular plumber was at my house for a different issue and was unable to fix it immediately.
He looked at it and said I did not need to replace the entire toilet, just the equipment inside the tank. Works Plumbing came and immediately tried to get me to buy a new toilet, and I said I only wanted the tank issue addressed, that I was told I did not need I new toilet.
After repeatively offering me three options, all leading to me purchasing a new toilet. He finally said he knew what the problem was and then had me sign a contractual agreement that warranted the service and labor for thirty days.
He replaced only one of the apparatus and not the one that was responsible for the water staying in the tank. After two days the same problem occurred.
(My plumber later told me that he always replaces the entire system and that the parts cost less than $20.00). Another technician from Works came yesterday and said he recommend getting a new toilet because replacing the washers (that they were old and difficult to find) under the tank that they would eventually leak, and he offered a partial refund towards a new toilet for approximately $900.00, (toilet and labor) not including the $425.00 I had already spent.
I was no longer feeling comfortable with this company, and I then talked to my regular plumber and he said that is not his experience with washers and he came and fixed it today in less than thirty minutes. One of the reasons I selected them was that they advertise that they are accredited by BBB (Better Business Bureau) I later discoved that, that is not true.
When I asked for their license #, the person on the phone neglected to give it to be. She was extremely rude, talked over me, said a manager was not available and refused to honor their warranty.
I found out that they have two licenses?, when I checked one is listed to Rotor Rooter. I also read a review by another client who eerily had a very similar experience that I had.
I strongly advise not doing business with this company. We had an issue with our toilet that would flush but then the water would come back into the toilet bowl and it kept coming to almost the top of the bowl but was able to be stopped before over flowing.
Called Works Plumbing and the office Mgr was able to find a tech that just completed a job to come right over. Dominic came and had shoe covers on without me asking.
He first checked the toilet to see what the issue was and then explained what he was checking for to make sure it was just the toilet and not the pipes. He was very thorough & explained what he was doing before doing it and left our home in a clean state..We appreciated that he was able to come out the same day.
Thanks Dominic and Works Plumbing! I had a leaking draining pipe at the crawling space under the house. The technician, Sergio A, offered his professional skill and patience to repair the leak with a new pipe and testing.
I admired that he carried with him all the debris and the cut off parts of the leaking pipe when he crawled out of the small opening of the crawling space area. He smiled at me and gave me a thumbs up.
I appreciate his work done and will use Works Plumbing service again if one day I need it. Marlon from Works plumbing did a great job.
Right on time and replaced our broken waterline to our fridge. Fixed it fast and pricing was transparent.
Thank you! Marlon came over and quickly identified the problem and started using simple methods to fix it and then advised best way to fix the problem. I strongly recommend working with marlon and team Today I had the misfortune of having a toilet plumbing issue.
I reached out to several companies through Yelp. Works got my business with this one sentence," we can have someone out within 30mim".
Done!!!! So grateful!! Immediately called, immediately sent a service tech out "Mr Travis"... Immediately saw the problem...
immediately fixed the problem, checked the flush and was on his way!!!!! Thank you Mr. Travis...
and co. Will definately call for future plumbing service.
Older house means many calls. They provided prompt same-day service.
Since I'm on a limited income because of my age, Dominic was very accommodating which I greatly appreciated. I had purchased a new garbage disposal unit which was installed.
We had Marlon and crew come replace a shower cartridge in our master bathroom. They were on time for the estimate, and very clear in explaining the scope of work and our options.
When we signed up, they were prompt their work and effective ins purging the necessary part and replacing it. All in all, I had a good experience working with Works Plumbing.
We had a kitchen sink stoppage, and I called Works Plumbing for their services. They were able to clear the stoppage on an urgent basis.
They were very friendly and professional, and their service was amazing. Excellent! Our water heater had gone out, so we called Works Plumbing.
The technicians arrived on time, and they checked it out, giving us a free estimates on our options. The technicians found serious sediment and corrosion in the intake and outflow pipes, so they replaced them before installing our new water heater- which works beautifully! No more cold showers.
:) These guys are efficient, friendly and fast! Recommended! I'll start by saying I'm surprised this company has anything short of 5 stars. Maybe you just didn't have the pleasure of working with Travis? The response on Yelp was extremely quick and I was able to get a same day appointment.
Travis was on time and arrived towards the beginning of the allotted time window. He had me sign the paperwork authorizing him to enter my house and the documentation stating the estimate was free.
Did I already mention that the estimate was free? Travis came in, looked at what was wrong and explained the process to fix it. He made sure to explain all options available along with prices for each fix.
Once he took apart the leaking shower fixtures, he showed me what was wrong and why it was leaking (and pointed out exactly what the previous plumber did wrong). Travis was perfectly personable and exchanged pleasantries without just hanging out and talking.
I really can't explain how happy I am with Works and I will be using them for any and all plumbing issues moving forward! Works plumbing did an incredible job for me, they showed by less then an hour after I called them, accessed the needs of do the job, started right away and completed the job very quickly I would recommend them for your plumbing needs and will definitely call them the next time I need a plumber. I would definitely recommend Works Plumbing! We had a tub issue with the water not going down.
Made a call to Works Plumbing who arrived 20 minutes later to diagnose the problem. Our technician Dominic R.
and his helper were very nice and professional. They provided us with a quote that they went over in detail.
Being that we only have one bathroom in the house they were able to complete everything within the same day. We were very appreciative of this! Everything was cleaned up after with returning our tub back to service.
Thank you again and will definitely call down the line should we experience any plumbing issues. So we originally had a reoccurring clogged toilet problem.
Someone from this company came and fixed it. Unfortunately the clog happened again a few days later and I knew the problem unfortunately was mostly further down the drain.
Tracy suggested we clear out the sewage pipe. Turns out we had a HUGE clog on the sewage line (about over 40 years worth of...ummm "sewage"!!!) so very thankful we took this option.
After that was done, we asked him to stay to watch the toilet flush to make sure things are working right. It was still slow but it flushed a lot faster than before they came, so Ever (who came with Tracy) took the auger to our toilet and after a few minutes the toilet was flushing back to its glory again! We'll see if this toilet problem will come back again but so far we are very please with the work and their tenacity to make things work with me.
(I'm the tougher customer.) They will have me as a customer for a new dishwasher and garbage disposal next!!! Finally got my paperwork and waiting for my warranty after 2 requests I won't get it and won't give more than a 2 until I receive it in a couple of weeks Great service from a local company. Highly recommended for any plumbing and drain needs.
Worst place of all, charged me $650 for a 200 dollar job to replace a shower valve. not only could they not install the valve correctly, they installed it sideways and charged me a lot of money.
I tried to call them because they kept spamming me and "Candice" kept saying, hello, hello i cannot hear you, which is BS I would never trust these rip off people as their techs cannot do a simple job Best service at immediate request. Excellent cleaning quality at a reasonable cost.
The service did a great job. Keep up guys!!! Thank you for the great work and making my home shine! I recommend Works Plumbing! Dominic helped us with a clogged sink with the water not going down.
I called Works Plumbing and they arrived 20 minutes later to diagnose the problem., and they fixed it on-site. My kitchen pipes were leaking.
I was about to go to home depot and get a replacement pipe. We'll when I was about to remove the pipe, another was broken.
I called lots of plumbers, no one could come until tomorrow. I kept trying and got Works plumbing.
They came right away and Travis P. Replaced all the pipes under our sink.
We love it! He was very pleasant and answered all our questions. Now we know who to call if we have any other issues.
Thanks so much Travis Very dishonest company and practices!!!! Stay away!!! My son made an appointmert with Javier C., he was charged $69 for an estimation of the work (shower bar installation) which never took place since the technician forgot to bring with him his stud finders, a critical piece of equipment. As such, there was no way to evaluate where the bars should be placed, how high/low, how far apart, what size, 1 or 1 bars, what distance .......etc.
We asked for a refund but they refused. I feel my son was taken advantage of because of his young age and inexperience, when he was trying to help me while I had a medical emergency.
In the end, the work was completed by professionals who did not charge a $69 fee and who billed me only $300 to install 2 shower bars and NOT $2,400 they were asking for. It seems that this company has a lot of very negative reviews, they may want to rethink their business practices and outrageous prices We recently closed on a new home in San Francisco, and the day we moved in (a Sunday evening) we unfortunately had a plumbing emergency with a spurting faucet that wouldn't stop running leading to a flood in our bathroom.
After closing the water valves to the faucet, we managed to get the flow to a steady trickle. Upon searching for emergency plumbing services, we came across Works Plumbing, and although they were not able to send someone that evening, they were able to send Travis the morning after.
Travis was gracious and knowledgeable throughout the entire interaction. He was able to quickly diagnose the issue and ventured out to find the appropriate parts to fix the problem the same day.
Once he obtained the necessary parts, he quickly fixed the problem. I'm so grateful for the quick turnaround time, and especially that Travis did such an awesome job.
Thanks Travis! The Works Plumbing was very responsive and Dominic was very knowledgeable and efficient in fixing the plumbing issues in my kitchen sink. Still one star.....unless you refund my $49.
Odd that it took you one year to respond on Yelp. Please contact me about the refund! Linda Thank You Works Plumbing and Eduardo...
Eduardo arrived right on time and explained our options. Very professional! Company offers a 10% discount for seniors which he got applied to our invoice.
Completed the job and cleaned up.... Very satisfied with Eduardo and Works Plumbing.
Dennis It was a joy to have Edwardo in my home. He did a wonderful job.
He was at all times courteous, informative and professional. No one Loves a leaky Kitchen.
Edwardo made this experience the best it could be. He analyzed the many problem's and fixed them.
He also looked at the contributing factors And taught them in a way that I Could understand what was going On. A marvelous experience! We had a leak in our hot water pipe in our house.
Travis was great, came out and gave us an estimate and was able to start on the project the same day and restore our hot water by the end of the day, while other plumbers were quoting us higher prices and longer times to schedule the work and to get it done. Friendly and quick service, we're very happy we went with Works! I contacted Works Plumbing at 3:16 pm and cancelled another service provider who had been scheduled to arrive between 8 & 10am; but was steadily "running late".
I had lost faith and needed real help. Works Plumbing assured me that they could get a technician.to me and have my project completed before they closed at 5pm.
At 3:33 pm I received a text message with their technician 's photo stating he was on his way to my address. He was at my address at 4:11pm.
Technician, Luis F. was cordial, courteous and professional.
He got to work straight away while explaining the process and the actions he was taking in real time. He was able to clear my garbage disposal clog and snake the pipe to my complete satisfaction.
My appreciation for the manner in which Work's Plumbing came to my rescue, so to speak, and completed my project on such short notice is above and beyond a 5 star rating. They kept their word and lived up to their promise.
While restoring my faith in business during the process. Thank you, Work's Plumbing!! J.
W. We have had many plumbers come out and deal with our "very old" drain pipe when it gets clogged and NO ONE took the time to actually trouble shoot the issue and provide a solution.
Kyle and Lazaro are a great team. They listened to our concerns and gave great feedback at every stage.
I would highly recommend this team/company to really help you. They did a fabulous job! Great work gentleman! BravoI liked the fact that Kyle went over all the options there were, and took his time going over them.
He did clean work and showed his experience by running everything efficiently and clean. The only thing I did not like was having a defined quote when discussing price, amost felt like a negotiation.
However, it was defined prior to the start of work, and seemed fair especially for the quality of work. The speed at which he did a whole change out, including removal, and code requirement changes was less than 3 hours.
Again, I would recommend them and Kyle to anyone, and I will use them for any plumbing needs! I was worried about our plumbing issues but Works really saved the day for us. Travis and Lalo got the job done quickly, efficiently and at a fair price.
Fantastic! Leaking toilet repair/replacement. Eduardo was exceptionally fast and professional, helping me select the best options to fix the problem.
Definitely 5-star service and will use them again. Our tankless heater broke down and these guys came over and assess the problem.
They were able to fix it in a timely manner. Customer service was great and ray the manager gave us a good deal for fixing our unit.
Thank you guys. Works Plumbing did a tankless water heater by Navien at our property in SF.
They did a professional job wouldn't be more happier about the customer service experience they did an excellent job. Thank you Guys for a job well done! Travis diagnosed the problem and given me options to clear the plumbing w bathroom sink drain pipe I tried to do the Job myself but didn't have the heavy duty electric snake, it took a few moinutes and the Job was done Great Job We had a backed up kitchen sink , Travis helped us within an hour.
So glad we went with works plumbing will continue to call works plumbing (: Great company that does quality work! I have used this company before to service my rental unit in Pacifica and they always do an excellent job. Upgraded my water heater last week to a tankless heater and they did a fantastic job.
Technicians were on time and very professional. One thing that stood out to me was they even fixed the gate lock that was broken which they didn't have to..
they surely know how to go above and beyond what they came to do and go the extra mile! Much appreciated!!! Works plumbing truly WORKS!!! This is my second time using Works Plumbing located in Pacifica, California. I was very happy with my experience the first time I used Works and very happy the second time as well.
I had been putting off calling a plumber for a couple of jobs. An on demand water heater maintenance flush and a very leaky outside water faucet.
Then my kitchen sink would not drain and that kind of forced my hand. I called Works Plumbing and the same tech as before came to the rescue.
I love the transparency of this company! Travis was so nice. Professional, courteous and dedicated to getting the job done.
Travis explained all of my options completely and in terms that I could understand. We agreed on the best plan and he went to work.
The blockage in my sink drain proved to be as stubborn as the toilet blockage from the last service. Travis worked really hard and finally got it unclogged.
Travis did the other 2 jobs quickly and efficiently and was on his way. Thank you Works Plumbing! I will recommend this company if I hear of anyone that need a plumber.
Just had them service my condo in Daily city and they were so professional. You can negotiate with price especially on big jobs.
I had chance to speak to the owner (Jorge) and he walked me through each steps of the processes that made it easy to understand and you know where your money is going. Thanks Jorge!!! Do yourself a favor and stay away from this company.
I found their number on the "find a pro" section of Rheem's website (the manufacturer of my water heater). They responded right away and had someone sent out the next day, for $50.
The plumber came over and diagnosed the problem. He said he would need to call Rheem and would charge me $350 for making the phone call because "he was going to be on hold a long time, and they would spend a long time doing a diagnostic with Rheem," (which he said was the only way to get the part replaced for free since it was still under warranty).
He said, "or...I can just change out the part right now for $1000." I said it was a lot of money, so I thought he should call Rheem. He then said it would cost an additional $400 for him to do the installation after we got the part from Rheem.
I felt stuck, I don't know about water heaters, so I told him to call them and see if we could get the part. He then said their customer service line would be closing in 10 min, so he would not do it.
He told me to call Rheem myself in the morning and tell them the problem he had diagnosed. He left and I was charged the $50 for the service call.
I called in the morning, got through to someone in a few min. I told them the part I needed and they got my address and sent it out within a few days- no questions, no long diagnostic.
I thought, "what the heck, he acted like it was going to be a huge problem." A week later I get the part. I called another plumbing company to come out and install it.
Turns out the first guy misdiagnosed the problem, which should not have happened since I realize now, is just a matter of looking to see which lights are blinking on the water heater. When I told the new plumber how the last guy said he was going to charge to call Rheem, he laughed and said that was crazy.
Stay away from this company- they have ill-informed and shady people working for them. Travis did a great job unclogging my kitchen sink and my son's bathroom sink! So awesome.
How often do you have a pleasant experience with resolving a plumbing issue? Most of us would say it's rare and maybe even impossible. Well I am happy to say that Works Plumbing came to our home and we had such an experience.
I'm so impressed that I'm writing this review as they are completely their work. We had a toilet that wasn't draining properly and contacted CA Water's 'HomeServe' (a good insurance to have) and they sent out the awesome team from Works Plumbing.
From the beginning, my family and I were impressed. They were on time and very friendly and professional.
We had the pleasure of working with Jeffrey P and Gordo. Jeffery assessed the problem right away and explained to us possible solutions and patiently answered our questions.
He's just awesome! Super personalable, knowledgeable and professional. Would absolutely recommend them and if you're lucky enough Jeffrey is who helps you.
It ended up being a more involved resolution and the 'Spartan' snake machine was used and solved the problem. They were so thorough and fast.
They fixed our problem AND even used a great freshener at the end of the job. They removed their shoes, laid down sheets in the walkway to not track anything, had towels on hand as needed and cleaned up as they went along and cleaned up after the job was completed.
I'm all for recognizing great work and services so this was it! Calling a plumber is always a dreadful situation, even for something simple. You are usually left with that 'used car' sales experience.
Not with these guys! Great people, great team and great job. Recommending to everyone I know that needs this service.
Kevin came and helped us out immensely! Our garbage disposal had stopped working. He was able to quickly and at a reasonable price reset it and get it running again thank you, Kevin! Last summer I had them come out to fix a leaky shower, kitchen faucet, kitchen pipes and toilet.
Bill came out to $2600. I feel stupid for having agreed to what should have been about $800.
After they left the faucet and shower didn't work right, so they came back still didn't work right. Called them 3 times to get a copy of the invoice to see why it was so much, still haven't gotten an invoice.
I'm writing this review because after six months my kitchen sink pipes fell off causing a big flood. None of the pipes were screwed on, but held together with putty.
I called another plumber who reconfigured the pipes to make it more efficient and couldn't understand why Works set it up to fail. Charged me $200 for new pipes and a connector, which is a lot more reasonable.
Travis was efficient, professional, and did a great job clearing out my sinks. Highly recommended.
Travis P. was my technician and he did a great job.
Good communication and a hard worker Lalo was extremely helpful and clear in providing me the details of how to correct several plumbing problems. I really appreciated the time he took to help me understand the work to be done...a very nice and professional young man.
I had a collapsed sewer line under my driveway The team of George, Ray, Travis were great and efficient to work with, as their concrete contractor. But due to rain and dealing with insurance Jan, February and March things took longer.
As with all contracting jobs communication with the customer is key, right up with prep work, like taping areas with plastic. Yes I would hire them again with these 2 conditions met Thank you.
Outstanding service. Travis was punctual, professional and very nice.
He resolved our issue quickly and explained everything to me. Thank you Works Plumbing.
This review is for Water Tank Heater Replacement. We got a referral after calling the Rhemm number, so we replied on Works Plumbing and what they said without checking here on Yelp.
Like everyone else mentioned here, when you call them, you will get a diagnosis service fee of $69, which I think should be okay for the time to come. However, we got a quotation for a tank heater replacement for $4000 and a tankless heater for $9000.
We didn't check around and replied to what they said and went with a cheaper option. However, this is ridiculously expensive.
When I checked around with people I know, they have a similar service for Tankless $3500 (material of $1350 and replacement fee is $2225) or even cheaper for a Tank water heater. I don't understand why Works Plumbing charge me $4000 for the Tank water heater (material cost $600- $700), so the rest is $3300 for their 5 hours of service.
I don't think it makes sense with the hourly rate and materials. I think it should be okay with the price of the Tankless Water Heater being $4000, but this is for the tank, and the material is much cheaper.
Can you believe they charge $9000 for tankless (where the heater is below $1500 for the most expensive one)? It is so ridiculous and unacceptable for the price!!!! Do your homework first! Don't wait until the last minute to repair so you can check round. I maid a appointment with this company, and just to let you know they charge $49 for getting a quote.
Then a guy came and gave me the most ridiculous quote for a tub drain. That's what a I call over charging.
We had a backed up in our shower, Travis and Lalo helped us within a two hours. So glad we went with works plumbing.
Will continue to call works plumbin! Over the past several years, I've had Works Plumbing install a bathroom faucet, a kitchen faucet, a bidet toilet; replace a water heater, and replace aged/stuck shut-off valves in my home. Jorge and his crew delivered professional and quality work every time.
Works Plumbing is fantastic, and I couldn't wish for a better experience with them. Margaret - I specifically ordered for an industrial endoscope camera, which your guys presented this as an option at $800, only to realize it would not be an option.
Should they not have checked out the pipe prior to presenting that option?? That alone should have warned me not to have them run the snake. And what discount are you referring to? The $49 fee for them coming out without resolving any issues? And which was waived with the useless $300? I was not happy with the outcome and they gave me no choice but to pay this amount and told them that I would try to dispute the charge.
And so I reported the issue with Chase and after weeks, they said I would be credited. That was quite a relief.
But a few days later, I received a certified mail from YOU threatening to sue me. This just proves you are after my money.
You had no regard for customer satisfaction!!! Ridiculously high quote, Beware! We had an outdoor leak in a very nice looking large home. My mom called her insurance agent to send a plumber and this is how Works Plumbing got involved.
They came out quickly which was nice but quoted us $3,800 for the job, claiming it was a complex job that would take more than 2 hours. Since insurance wouldn't cover the leak, we quickly turned them down and had our general contractor come to take a look.
Our contractor didn't have the time or parts to do the job but said that rock bottom someone could fix it for $500 and if you wanted to pay for a premium emergency service, max we should pay was $1,000. He helped to build our home and is one of the more ethical contractors I've ever dealt with.
Ultimately we called another company and paid the $1,000 and the job was done under 45 minutes. Buyer beware if you have a nice looking home or if your mom called and sounded helpless.
They tried to fleece us, they may do the same to you. We called Works Plumbing in Pacifica last week regarding a leaky faucet.
The one star is for their good response time. They came out the next day.
After speaking with Eduardo we decided to go ahead and opt to put in a new set altogether as it seemed like a couple other little issues were beginning to make an appearance in addition to the very obvious one. He gave us three options, well two actually plus an add-on price for something he mentioned almost immediately that "might" be needed (angle stop valve shut off) for $557.
The two options were a complete rebuild for $817.50 or a new basic kitchen sink faucet install at the cost of $1,294.70. Yes, $1,294.70! My mouth literally fell open.
If we went out to purchase the set we wanted it would be two hundred less he said. A big Red flag and warning bells were going off for sure.
So, needless to say we did not go with Works Plumbing. The next company we called came out and installed a new kitchen faucet w/ spray hose (which we went out and purchased) for $150 ! Be aware.
Its Friday night and my kitchen decided to stop working and water started to backup on my sink. Called these guys and even it was late in the day, they managed to squeeze me in and came to my rescue.
The prices are reasonable and affordable. Mateo gave me options on what it will take to fix my clogged drain.
I chose the middle one and repairs was done in a reasonable time frame. Overall I was completely satisfied.
Showed up 2 hours late despite confirming they'd be here at at 8am (their first appointment of the day). Focus on upselling, ridiculous overpricing for the level of service - would never use again I happened to come across these guys cuz they had to clear pipes that were clogging up a handful of kitchen sinks in separate units within our condo complex.
Shamir was very informative and kept me updated with their progress. They worked way past their hours to hydro jet our pipes.
Our association uses another company but I would highly recommend this company for anyone needing a professional job done. Also used all safety protocol during this time as well.
If you are looking for plumbers contact Workers Plumbing!! Excellent customer service, on time appointments, explains the issue and the solution in easy to understand language. As a single female I love that they let you know who is coming with a text and a picture of the plumber.
All my appointments have been easy to make and with in 24hours of contacting them. The plumbers are nicely dressed in clean uniforms and have a very professional attitude.
I have used them for 5 different projects in the last 2 years and will continue to use them for all my plumbing needs! I'm a small time landlord so when work is done I need documentation. Works plumbing provides great documentation in their receipts.
The plumber Shamir is an upfront guy. I did have what I believe to be an error in the transaction.
Basically a 49.99 job done was charged at 439.99. I did have to dispute a transaction, but after emails and talking with Ray he did reimburse me with a check for the difference and all well that ends well.
$50 To have a tech come out, fine. But then they want $500 before they'll even give an estimate for a sewerline repair.
And they don't tell you about the $500 until after the guy is there collecting the $50. They knew what the call was for: a sewerline estimate.
Yet they're going to demand $500 (for an estimate!) after they got $50. Other companies did the camera and estimate for free and it took 10 minutes.
My water heater went out and I was looking for quotes to replace it asap. I received a free quote for $1400 for a Rheem water heater with a 9 year warranty ($650) from Home Depot.
I decided to get another quote from a local plumber, and hopefully I could use them to support a local business. They charged a $49 fee for them to do a estimate which I was ok paying.
I was shocked that the quoted me $2800 for a cheaper water heater that offered a 6 year warranty. The water heater value is approximately $400 from Home Depot.
So basically they are charging $800 a hour (3 hours max x $800 per hour) to change out a water heater. I would definitely recommend using Home Depot for a reasonable price quote.
I ended up using another local company and it took about 2 1/2 hours for the removal and install. Would most certainly not recommend.
Used them twice: First time went fine. Not great, but got the job done at what seemed a fair price.
Second time was a complete disaster. Did not get the job done, left the shower unusable (I'm assuming by design so as to require further work by them), and charged at least 150% above market rate.
Not populated by the sharpest tools in the shed... but definitely populated by tools.
Your milage may vary, but I wouldn't risk it. Update: Hi Patrick.
Thank you for responding. I would have preferred to have a more solution-oriented response when I spoke to you and your plumber on the phone, but I guess you feel a Yelp response is better suited to your needs rather than actually addressing the issue.
Also, it seems unusual that as part of a "diagnosis" you would actually remove parts from a shower so that it no longer works. We had a clogged toilet line and called them (we like to keep local).
They cleared the line after pulling the toilet up. It took 4 1/2 hours.
The cost was $823. Yep.
Three days later it clogged again. Pulled the toilet up and couldn't clear.
They left at 1130 am and said they were going back to the office to prepare an estimate on what we should do next. Never heard from them.
At 700 pm I called (mind you no toilet) and asked where the estimate was. They said they emailed it and figured we didn't want to proceed.
I didn't get it. Okay we will send in morning.
In the morning they apologized and said they didn't have my email but I got an appointment confirmation both times in my email. The estimate was (get ready....) $6k!! It wasn't spelled out line by line regarding parts and labor but mentioned in a paragraph fixing things that weren't broken.
The fix was very drastic and didn't seem to fit the problem. I asked if someone could break it down.
The technician assigned called and said he'd come over. We weren't satisfies with answer describing why the cost would be so high; parts, labor we don't know.
You could look up in the garage and see right where whatever was blocking the pipe was. No breakdown.
No other options. I told them that I was going to get another estimate and at a minimum could I please get my receipt; which I had never received from the first service.
It took a few times requests but we got it. It didn't say much.
So we called another local company and paid $223; line was clear in 45 minutes. They appeared to be a lot more knowledgeable and ended up clearing the line going through the trap in the garage and clear upwards.
The clog with maybe 5 ft from the trap. Less evasive, less mess and so much cheaper.
He looked at all the options and saw he didn't have to pull up the toilet. We ended up a few days later getting a slow down, so we did have them cut and replace some part of the pipe and trap; they found a towel in there.
That was the issue. The total for all of this was $1,300.
I sent my concerns after not understanding the reason for the drastic $6K in work for just a toilet line to this company and the only follow up they offered having the technician call me to see what my concerns were and try to again answer our questions. I guess we have to agree to disagree.
No formal response from company was ever received but I saved $5k. I received a call from the Operations Manager today.
Unlike the previous person I had spoken with, they were willing to take time to fully understand the situation and work directly with HomeServe to get clarity on the situation. I appreciate their willingness to address the situation but wish it had not taken so much effort to find someone at Works who was willing to make this a priority and help.
They assured me they could help with a sewage emergency for my elderly mother with dementia and then delayed their time frame and then canceled because they said they couldn't use the access point through the roof even though they originally told me they could. Completely irresponsible.
Will not be using them again. My appointment was for 2p.m.
and the technician showed up at 4:15 p.m. I was charged $395 for a simple main drain clean out.
Here is a quote for the usual charges for that job. Cost to Snake Main Line (Sewer Rodding) "...Snaking a main line costs anywhere from $100 to $250 though complex and difficult clogs may cost up to twice as much.
The most basic and common approach is to rely on a drain auger, also called a drain snake. This is a long piece of flexible metal made to go down the drain and around any bends in the plumbing.
Most professional plumbers have snakes that are 50 feet or longer to reach most clogs easily. If the clog is minor, it can be broken up using an auger in a matter of minutes.
While it can get the drain flowing again, it is not actually cleaning the entire pipe. The heads are usually smaller than the pipe it's running through, so it only punches a hole through most clogs..." Don't hire this company! Hello Works Plumbing, I am really disappointed with your response.
Your not taking responsibility for the mistake your guy made in service and in judgment. My team assisted your plumber because he needed assistance.
They never mentioned the slope issue. Your tech did and he documented that on his report.
I called the next day and requested he come back. He declined due to the fact there was nothing else he could do.
He mentioned the slope issue a number of times. Then he tried to upcharge my building by indicating that the line needs a jetwash.
The line sat because we waited for the plumber who installed the line to check the slope and make sure it was up to code. It was.
The icing on the cake, Rescue Rooter came onsite and cleared the line in less than two hours. The plumber never suggested a jet wash or sloping issues.
He got the job done! Finally, I gave you guys a chance to make it right and your staff basically told me to F off. I'm not wasting any more time with an unprofessional company such as Works Plumbing and I don't think other should.
My kitchen sink and laundry are backed up in the home I'm renting in half moon bay. I called works plumbing and they were very responsive.
They had Mario and his helper at the house very promptly. They offered three different very high price options to either snake the line or snake the line and hydro jet the line.
I chose the 500 and change option to snake the line. The snake used was previously snapped off so the full length could not be utilized and it did not have a cutting tool due to it being broken previously.
This severely diminishes the tools effectiveness. The technician Mario admitted this when I asked.
He tried to use the larger snake but it would not enter the smaller size utility clean out. Before looking for another clean out or trying to snake it again he offered hydro jetting services for another 800 plus dollars.
If the snake had been operating properly to begin with there was a good chance it would have cleared the drain. Or if he had used the larger machine from a different clean out that could have been effective.
I paid 500 plus dollars and the pipes are still backed up. Mario admitted it was obvious I knew what I was talking about because I worked for a plumbing company in Oakland for over ten years.
Keep in mind I've switched professions so i am not set up in a service van like a company who does it everyday. Renting a snake machine can be time consuming and somewhat costly so I chose to call a local company to reduce energy expenditure so I could focus on my own business.
I'm appalled that they collected the money after rendering the service but doing so unsuccessfully. As a consumer I'm left speechless after talking with Marie in the office who assured me they don't work for free and this is normal practice.
She pointed out that I didn't choose to hydro jet the line which may have fixed it. She insinuated the job wasn't finished because I didn't choose the more expensive jetting option.
I told her snaking it should have cleared it for sure the first time. Jetting is rarely required in standard residential applications.
I asked if I chose to jet the line and it didn't work would I be charged the full price of 1500 plus dollars despite it not working? She says yes. Im mind blown.
I chose to not have them back to continue because I have zero confidence in the ethics behind this business. I wouldn't expect free work and I was willing to pay the premium rate which was about 500 an hour given the quote amount.
But the pipe still wasn't cleared. It's still not clear now.
I was told an officer manager would call me so I am waiting on that. In all my prior years of service work before changing careers I never would have handled a customers billing and strategy going forward like this company did.
I'll wait on the response before I contact the better business bureau and take them to small claims court. Company's like this will continue to over charge and remain unclear of charges until you are in a pressured scenario.
This is what they want. It's the bread and butter for them.
I hope they change there ways! They charged me $69 to come out an give a quote which turned out to be $419 for a simple job - to install a J-Bend pipe under the kitchen sink. I had already remove the broken pipe (took about 3 minutes), but didn't have time to get the replacement pipe (a $27 part).
The plumber who came out was very nice. He spent 15 minutes in my kitchen, just preparing THREE quotes as required by his employer.
The highest of which was $1,400+ and the lowest was $419.00. He told me he felt helpless because he couldn't change the quote and that other companies he's worked for it would have been more like a $70-$80 job.
He also said he just started working for them and had been getting the same complaint from other customers all day. THEIR PRICING IS OUTRAGEOUSLY INFLATED.
I will never call them again. I encourage anyone considering using them to check the NEGATIVE REVIEWS - you will see a consistent theme about over charging and their responses are ridiculous.
Please notice the owners response - trying to twist my words. My expectation was NOT $100.
I figured in would be somewhere closer to $165-$185 considering the retail price of the part was $27 and it was a 10 minute job. I see this as just another example of their deceitfulness.
Please notice the owner updated the response AGAIN stating, "We understand that everyone shops at different stores on what they see as the value of what they pay for." To that I say, true, but NOT EVERYONE GETS CHARGED $69 TO JUST SHOP. To be really clear, I believe that paying a fee for a quote is not unreasonable.
It becomes unreasonable when, for example, the job that needs to be done is minor, but the company sends a technician out who wastes 15 minutes of time just to prepare 3 quotes required by the company - 2 QUOTES FOR WORK NOT EVEN NEEDED and 1/the lowest near double the going market rate. Really good people! The person on the phone was very helpful and always got back to me quickly.
I never hung up with them feeling confused. I can genuinely say that I greatly appreciate them! Our messed up water system was set up by another plumber years ago and was not up to code.
It didn't allow us to open certain windows of the house due to dangerous fumes and horrible pipe placement. Works plumbing came to check out the work and explained to us every detail of what was actually needed.
They gave suggestions on how they could fix it and quickly wrote up a quote. The pricing is very fair and we even got an itemized list to know exactly what we'd be paying for.
We initially thought it would take days for them to replace, repair, and reroute some pipes but they completed it in a day! They worked long hours to make sure we would have our new water heater working properly. It's so quick to heat up and I'm looking forward to a lower energy bill now.
We're also relieved to not be breathing in fumes by one of our bedrooms. Thanks Works Plumbing and shout out to Raymond for your fast and clear communication throughout the entire process! I've noticed standing water in my kitchen sink draining slowly, which I thought was a clogged drain.
Called Jorge and he took time to talk with me with my plumbing issue and gave me helpful tips on how to unclog it which I truly appreciate before heading over. I'd recommend him anytime! He also helped my ninang (godmother) early this year with her kitchen clogged pipes.
I called Jorge and he immediately went at their place and fixed their pipes in no time! My ninang was so satisfied with his work. Two thumbs up Jorge! Used them in August 2019.
Had the same issues last week ago. Brought a snake machine that was not working.
Used a camera to determine the cause of our stoppage but was unable to go more than 30 ft and had to stop because of water in the pipes. I personally went to their office and asked Ray personally why the tech couldn't finish the job due to the fact that they didn't want to damage their camera and charged us as if the job was completed successfully without resolving our clog.
Had the problem recur this week and called another company who was able to utilize their camera; bypass the water area and take their camera line all the way to the street junction almost 77 feet. .
2/9/21 Based on my review I received a call from the Owner's Wife. I told her what happened and explained to her what happened and how their Techs shouldn't go out without their equipment fully functioning.
She said she would talk to her team and get back to me. Well it's going on 3 weeks and no call or follow -up to her phone call to me.
In addition if the tech who was advised by the office not to continue to run the camera line because it may cause damage to their equipment a company should have some type of insurance for these types of occurrences. Our tank lever wasn't working.
We are staying at my sister-in-laws home so we figured we call for some expert service since we just moved and we're exhausted. They quoted $430.00 to replace the lever.
(BTW a completely new toilet costs less than $430.00) It's an American Standard toilet. Nothing special.
So we asked why so high. They said it's because they guaranteed it for 6 months.
I laughed, looked at my wife and said let's cut our losses and I'll fix it. The lever replacement cost 16.99 from ace and no tools necessary.
I believe they take advantage of seemingly unknowing women. Beware for gouging prices and stay away from this company.
Called this company to come out and unclog a slow moving drain. They were at my residence very fast.
They had told me over the phone that there was a $42 service fee that was refundable if we proceed with the drain cleaning. I asked for an estimated cost to unclog the drain and she quoted me between $100-400 not knowing the complexity of the job.
Technician comes out and before he enters the house makes me sign for the $42.00 then looks at the drain and quotes me $520.00. I didn't go with them as I feel that this was to much to unclog a slow residential shower drain that shouldn't take longer than a hour max to complete.
I feel the right price should of been $150-300 they were trying to price gouge. Not good business.
Be aware. I'd like to introduce you to my new plumber, Works Plumbing in Pacifica.
I had my first sewer backup in this house in 12 years. I called my regular plumber (those who must not be named) and they said they'd put me on a waiting list, but couldn't give me a "day" for service.
Next I called Works Plumbing. Right from the initial call the staff was courteous, professional, and helpful.
Taani and John arrived less than 2 hours later. They were both great.
They checked around the property for the best options to address the problem, explained all options available to me, and quickly resolved the issue. They cleaned up, closed out, and were just as courteous on the way out as they were on the way in.
Living on the coast can be challenging, particularly when it comes to service calls, and even more difficult when something is urgent. It's nice to have a dependable local option.
I will definitely call Works Plumbing first next time! I got charged for nothing. Nothing was done.
He just looked at it. I do t feel I should have been charged for this visit.
Had 50 feet of pipe that needed to be replaced. David & crew nailed it!! Unfortunately on Monday they didn't show up during the time they were supposed to.
The happy go lucky damn receptionist did not bother to give me the common courtesy or respect as a customer to let me know they had an emergency job & wouldn't be coming for at least 2 to 3 hours later than our scheduled appt. Someone needs to have a chat with her.
SO DAMN RUDE'''.
