I sent another three on Tuesday morning and heard back from JMS almost instantly. They gave me the service fee and the estimate for the work.
It sounded fair and that is exactly what I was charged. No upselling or add ons.
They sent Alex within the hour. Alex was great.
Explained what he was doing, answered all of my questions and most importantly, fixed the problem. They now have a lifetime customer, that hopefully won't ever have to call them again :-).

Everything was fine but I think there was some mis-communication on the companies end. We had some clogging issue with our toilet and some leakage around the rim of the toilet that needed sealing.
They came and snaked the toilet/ran a camera into our plumbing lines but said they'd recommend hydrojetting our lines as well. They offered for an all inclusive discounted price $600 if we went with the hydrojetting as well.
So we took the offer thinking everything would be fixed for that one price we agreed on. They came the next day to hydrojet our plumbing lines, but didn't seal up our toilet rim as discussed the first day.
We contacted them after asking if another guy will come out to fix the last portion but they insisted that sealing the toilet was not included in the original deal. After some back and forth they agreed to come out again if we pay $90 them for coming out to our house again.
We just feel like there was a misunderstanding or something because we were pretty sure that the technician said that they will fix the whole problem for a fix rate of $600. But I guess not.
Angel fixed a fairly complex plumbing situation we had in our building walls. I really appreciate that they got back to me quickly: this company is good about being very communicative with clients on short notice.
I first called at 5:30pm and they called me back at 6pm, and then they sent Angel the next morning to look at it. Job scheduled for the next day.
At the same time they were juggling other jobs for other clients. It turned out the problem was even more extensive so he came back quickly to fully resolve the additional problems the following day.
HONEST, fast and reliable. I recently bought a house where JMS had done some work in the past.
Something wasn't working right and they came around to look at it. They noticed it was a simple fix so they didn't even charge anything! It would have been very easy to tell me something else was broken but they didn't.
A few days later they stopped by my other house which had a blockage in the main line. Another company had quoted me 11k the day before in order to fix it.
When JMS came by for a second opinion they gave me the REAL solution which cost me $0. Again, it would have been very easy for them to grab my money as so many other dishonest companies out there would do.
Our experience with JMS has been amazing... Did I mention HONEST? I would obviously recommend them to anyone.
Angel installed 2 toilets and removed 2 older ones. Great service, quick, and everything is working great! Will use them in the future.

I am convinced that all the other 5 stars that they have received is from their own friends and family members. My garbage disposal did not work, and JMS sent a plumber for assessment and repair.
This man appeared to try to snake the disposal from above, and gave me the most insulting with scare tactic explanation for why he can't reach it and that everything from the upstairs unit will eventually get stuck in my pipes unless he creates a Clean out, by Opening out the stucco behind my kitchen sink and cut the drain line and install a clean out for a charge of $1075. It did sound like BS to me, so I checked with another plumber who actually said be careful they are hustling you, and this does not sound right at all.
He came in and opened the pipes from under the sink (which JMS had indicated can not be done) cleaned the pipe and my garbage disposal was fixed. It truly disgusts me that these people take advantage of people who seem in crisis.
My guess is that they take us as fools. It is just so insulting.
The final kick came when I complained to them and asked for my money back. They said that they can not return the assessment fee but will reimburse me for $75 (I had paid them $250 for nothing).
I decided to take the money and let it go. But what do you know, they just ignored my email and I have to yet see a reimbursement.

Alex clearly knew what he was doing and paid attention to the small details in his work and did a amazing job! Thank you such for preventing and fixing a big problem! They sent out a man named, Jose (Jay) last Wednesday who didn't fix the problem, reattached the overflow upside down, and then tried to take advantage of my 65 year old mother and over charge her for work to the tune of $1,400 without even sending a scope to check the line.
They have not returned to fix the problem, leaving my mother, my niece, and nephew (8,11) without a shower/bathtub for almost a week. We received JMS Express Plumbing as a referral from our contractor during renovations on our new home.
Joe came in and was incredibly detailed and outlined what we needed and would expect. He walked my husband and I through everything and was quick to respond.
They redid our entire plumbing system and to a newer system. He even shared photos of all the pipes before the walls closed in case something happened in the future.
Helped add filtrations, gas lines, etc. Anytime I've needed something, his team has been quick to respond.

Joe was on top of what my overall problem was with my water heater and immediately wanted to check on the issues. I needed a new gas valve since I kept running out of hot water and relighting the pilot every day which was happening for weeks.
The part took a day to wait for, but Alex was assigned the job and he was awesome enough to clean the old gas valve first before considering replacing it. Glad all the options have been done first before any necessary work needed to be made.
Once we determined it definitely needed replacing, he came back with the part, still under my manf warranty, and didn't take him very long to replace. It's been 4 days with consistent hot water when needed so that's already a vast improvement! Thanks JMS.

Both experiences have been great. The first time we needs a gas pipe changed out and yesterday we had a clogged toilet.

Avoid these scammers! We found them online, didn't see any alarming reviews of the company, and in turn, hired them to replace an old sump pump on our property. We were very clear with them, when we hired them, that we wanted the warranty that comes with any new pump, and the purchase receipt.
They promised us that they would bring us those items. But when they arrived, they tried hard to hide from us the fact that the allegedly "new" pump was in a beat-up and taped-up box.
Moreover, when they removed it from the box, the pump was already caked with dirt! It obviously was a used one, and almost certainly didn't work at all -- why else would someone get rid of a used pump? these guys must have hauled it away from a former job -- but they kept insisting anyway that it was brand new! When we asked them to show us the receipt, they lied again and told us that because they bought the item via a pick-up window, there was no receipt. Then when we asked to see the warranty, they told us it was in the beaten-up box.
It wasn't: another lie -- the paper in the box was the instructions, not the warranty (the new pumps come with a three-year warranty: we'd checked all this out beforehand with the pump manufacturer directly, thank heavens). They tried every pathetic lie they could think of, including that someone else must have used the pump before, but just once (sure!!).
They switched from one whopper to the next each time the prior lie was busted. It took us several phone calls and a lot of time with the manager, who kept also lying to us that it was a new pump.
We finally wrangled him into getting us a pump that came with the warranty and receipt, as per the original agreement. He sent off his team to get us a new pump, which took them over an hour.
Half our day already taken by this scam. When the workers returned, finally, with a new pump (with a warranty and receipt, as it should have been in the first place), they had no idea how to install it! WE had to explain to THEM some of the parts! They were totally incompetent! We had hired them to install a new pump, and instead spent our day just trying to get an actual new pump, and then, having to find someone else to install it.
(We did.) A disgusting scam and sham of a company. Also reported these counterfeiters to the Better Business Bureau.
Ron from Sherlock Lead Detection referred us to Joe at JMS Express Plumbing when we needed a second opinion for my mother-in-law's main sewage line leak. As with Sherlock, there should be a SIX STAR RATING for Joe, his Technician Alex Whisler and Alex's crew who CORRECTLY diagnosed and fixed my mother-in-law's internal plumbing issue .
My husband and I stepped in to help get this problem fixed after my mother-in-law was SWINDLED by another local plumber who charged her $9,000 (half of which was asked to be paid in CASH). And then that disreputable plumber, who ended up being unlicensed, provided unnecessary services which did NOT resolve her problem.
You can look forward to my review of this less than ethical company on Yelp. Let this be a lesson to 1) always check on a California contractor's license, 2) Read their Yelp reviews, and 3) NEVER pay cash.

I did, in fact, take advantage of double checking their diagnosis and our general contractor concurred, after reviewing their analysis and quote, that their diagnosis was indeed correct and the price was indeed fair. What's more, our technician Alex Whisler (818-78100515) was amazing.
He is great at working with elderly customers. He patiently made sure that my mother-in-law understood the problem, the solution and the cost.
Never minding that this information needed to be repeated or redundant questions were asked. He showed up religiously to check on his crew and their progress daily in the morning and evening.

Once there, he immediately began up-selling me drains and major work quotes without having inspected the issue with the camera. Once he looked at the camera, he said he couldn't snake it because it would cause more damage.
He took my money and left with the issue unresolved and no quote on how to fix the problem. I was contacted by the office staff and they assured me they would contact me with more information, but they never did.

I called another company and they were able to snake the line, like JMS should've done. And they discovered the source of the issue-which is what we hired JMS to do.
The job is significant and will be completed by this other company. I'm glad JMS provided such awful service because I wouldn't have gone with this other company.

I had a good experience before but not this time. And it was the same tech who did the work.
I just bought my home. My refrigerator water was not hooked up (there was a line, but the previous owner didn't connect it).
The tech connected the line but it still didn't work. He eyeballed the connection and ran his finger over it saying "there's water there".
Then suggested that the refrigerator was probably broken. He installed a new kitchen faucet for me as well.
In fact, it was the exact same model as the one he installed in my previous home. When he was done I noted that it seemed odd that the handle was on the left and not the right as it had been on the other and on diagrams.
He assured me it was correct because the manufacturer logo stamped on the faucet always faces front. I mistakenly shrugged it off and thought I must have been misremembering.
After he left, I pulled out the installation guide that came with the faucet, and saw the handle should have been on the right. I immediately called and ask if he could return to fix it (just a few minutes had passed).
I was told they check and call me right back. After about 20 minutes I called again.
The person on the phone argued that it had been done right. I said I would take a picture and email the diagram as well as the product image from Home Depot's website (where I bought it).
After much back and forth, they finally agreed to send a tech back out to fix it. Then said there would be another fee.
When I balked at that, they finally backed down. It was truly a disappointing experience - especially when it was so positive before.
I found another plumber who fixed the refrigerator line in the wall. Very happy with JMS.
They responded quickly to my request for service, reviewed the parts I purchased ahead of time (new faucet) and confirmed that we have everything necessary to complete the installation. Technician arrived on time and completed the work quickly and efficiently.
Also gave me some advice on potential bathroom remodel. They offer a wide scope of services and I will use them again for sure.
Angel came over, very nice guy fixed the job at the time, but said he might need to come back to flush through if attempt one with snake did not work. It did not.
This is when issues started, called the office to ask for him to come out and the girl on the phone was infuriating. She just did not seem to understand what was going on, referred to the wrong job, kept going on about how the price was great as I was just asking a simple question about the billing that needed clarifying.
This girl let the whole business down with her delivery because she does not LISTEN to the customer and is too much on the defensive rather than dealing. The fact that I had to ask her to stop talking, and just get Angel to come back because he needed to finish the job, was something in all my years I have never had to do with a company.

They unclogged our entire exterior drainage system when 3 other plumbers said we would have to rip up our entire slate pool deck and install new pipes. Totally honest and very dependable.
I've found my plumber for life! I called JMS and was really happy with the work and professionalism that Alex has done in my bathroom . Speaking with him the first time on the phone he was very patient with me in finding out what my problems were and gave me a few great suggestions.

One morning, my husband and I heard a faint sound of water running. Turned out that our main water pipe sprung a small leak.
Water was dripping behind one of the walls in our kitchen. We also noticed a small puddle of water by the baseboard.
I frantically called my neighbor to see if she knew of a plumber. My neighbor Isabel referred me to JMS Plumbing.
She said, "They are the best plumbing service in the city!" I spoke with the owner Joe Skolnick of JMS. Joe couldn't have been more understanding or accommodating over our plumbing emergency.
He calmy reassured me that he would arrive, asap. Joe arrived promptly, as promised.
He was also very Covid conscious throughout. I have to say, watching Joe work, was like watching a skilled surgeon.
He first laid out a thick protective blanket for his tools. He also had several plumbing gadgets that he used to detect water and leaks.
With pinpoint accuracy he cut a small section of the kitchen drywall. He immediately found the damaged pipe.
He then cut a section off of the broken pipe off and replaced it with a new one. Joe also took photos and a video of the damage area in case we needed it for insurance purposes.
He then checked the faucets throughout our property to insure we had hot and cold running water. Afterwards, he cleaned up and removed all the debris and dust from the damaged area in the kitchen.
He asked that we place a fan in front effected area for three days to dry the wood and hopefully prevent mold, He asked that we contact a mold detection service in three days. The mold service company that Joe referred checked the area and deemed it dry and mold free.
The mold service call was free of charge! Joe, because of your quick responsiveness, great advice and highly skilled knowledge this plumbing emergency did not evolve into a mold and insurance nightmare. JMS Plumbing is the best!! We hired JMS to replace a toilet in our powder room. I ordered a new Toto toilet from Amazon, and JMS came out pretty fast to haul away the old one and install the new one.
Easy to schedule, good communication, technician was on time and did the job. Their price was also the lowest among the few different plumbers I called.
Our plumber was Chris and he was great. Came on time, replaced two angle stops and our faucet.
Chris told us that it was a good thing that I replaced one of the angle stops because it was so corroded that he had to cut it out in order to give us new one. It was easy to make an appointment over phone or email.
And they offered an online quote if I described the problem and sent photos. Their quote was definitely reasonable compared to other plumbers I called that gave me an estimate that was at least $500 more! I knew what I needed done was a fairly simple job so I knew when I was being quoted a ridiculous price.
I am docking one star because when I initially made the appointment there was miscommunication between me, the office girl, and the technician/plumber. The technician's car had broken down and the office girl told me that they were going to be 2 hours late because they sent another technician to pick up our assigned technician.
Which was ok since I had blocked out a chunk of time for plumbing work with my HOA. I told the office girl that the work needed to be completed by a certain time and asked if the technician would be able to do that.
She reassured me that everything would be ok. After no one showed up after 2 hours, I called the office and they were 'surprised' that no one was already there.
Asked if the plumbers were close as I still had 1 more hour left for my project to be completed. The office girl told me to hold so she could call them and they barely got on the freeway after Triple AAA just came.
Needless to say I was pissed as I had to schedule this time slot with my HOA, take a day off work, and was just sitting at home for no reason. I understand things come up like a car breaking down.
But the office girl (and maybe the plumbers) should have been in better communication and either told me they could make it or not. Luckily for me, my rescheduled appointment was a breeze.
We chose JMS because of their great reviews here and elsewhere. We are so very disappointed by their terrible customer service and overall experience trying to fix our blocked main line.

JMS was recommended by another trade professional to repair the water leak inside the slab of our home which was expanding rapidly.

Great customer service . We've used JMS Express Plumbing several times, but this last time will be the last.
We have to get our drain pipes serviced once a year for root intrusion. JMS came to the house yesterday, did the video scoping then promised to return in an hour with their equipment.
They never showed up. My husband called them, they didn't return the phone call.
My husband stayed home from work for nothing. They left an open line with sewage spilling into the street.
This morning they got here before I even woke up (supposed to come at 10:30 a.m.) then left without a word. They left behind a mess.
On their invoice it clearly states that they are supposed to clean up the front yard. There is currently toilet paper and human feces on my driveway flowing down into my neighbors driveway, etc.
So gross and unacceptable. See pictures above.
About half of these brow spots smell like feces. I heard my neighbor scream! So embarrassing.
The plumber came during the time window specified and did a great job clearing up my drain at the price we had agreed on during my call. He offered a few more services but was not pushy in pressing for the upsell.
I asked for some advice for future projects which he was happy to provide. Overall a great experience.
I had considered some of the companies you hear on the radio, but for just a few more bucks I have now found a local plumber I can trust in the future. Juan, the tech, from the company came and snaked out one kitchen sink, one bathtub and one washing machine pipe that got clogged by the lemons I put down the kitchen garbage disposal and backed up into the pipes.
I put them down too fast and the pulp got clogged in the main pipes leading to the house's main pipe. Juan was fast, knowledgeable, friendly and patient in explaining to me how the pipes connected.
I was very impressed with this company from beginning to end. Someone answered the business phone right away.
After explaining the problem, they called me back with a quote and an expectant time of service. 2 hours later, Juan arrived and he was gone a 1/2 - 3/4 hour later, with the pipes totally unclogged and water running freely down the drains.
Juan explain to me a few repairs I could have done to not have this problem again and pointed out one thing that needed to be taken care of as soon as possible - all in written estimate form. Totally impressive.
All in all it was a very positive experience and I would definitely call this company again and will definitely recommend them to friends and family members. The final cost was exactly what was estimated to me and included an Angie's List 10% discount.

I used several other plumbers before but was happiest with JMS. They're easy to schedule, give you a one hour window for when they're showing up and even call you when they're about 20 min away! Their prices are also better than the other plumbers I've used.

i went with another Plumber, but I am aggravated that JMS would try to charge so much more and take advantage of me. This plumbing company has been a nightmare! No permit obtained, new pipes installed incorrectly, new pipes breaking apart and water/sewage running out, drains blocked by new plumbing...and the list goes on.
DO NOT USE THEM! JMS started out with a single project - relocating my laundry center and adding a 220 line for the new laundry- but I quickly added flushing my tankless water heater, removing my old floor furnace, trenchless repiping the sewer line in my front yard, and even painting a hallway and they did each very well. Price was fair, Joe responsive and each of his workers were competent, neat and cleaned fairly well after themselves.
They do good work. JMS did a great job for me.

I expected a phone call from a supervisor. The owner was at my door in a very short time to make things right.
The job was done well and quickly. I recieved swift and effecient service from JMS Express! The owner Joe is a wonderful man.
He was very considerate to my situation. He even tried to give me instuctuons to fix my plumming problem over the phone.
In order to save me money. I did not expect that.
When it was evident that I needed his services. One of his licensed plumber by the name of Alex came by the very next day and remedied my problem immediatley.

Angel was the plumber who arrived on time. I had a hot water leak that was coming out a landscape drain to the street.
A leak detection specialist, who is friends with Joe the owner, said the leak was in my laundry room - in the slab. Angel began removing dry wall and cutting pipes.
With each cut, we turned the hot water back on to see if this stopped the leak. Mid-day Angel stopped work and tried to convince me that I needed to repipe my whole house.
He spent 40 minutes trying to convince me. Then he spent an hour eating lunch.
After spending the rest of the day drilling holes into my walls and cutting pipes, the leak was still going strong. At 4 pm Angel demanded that I pay him at a rate of $100/hr.
He had to leave for a family obligation and wanted $700. My washer and dryer were disconnected and besides cutting four 1' by 1' square holes in my walls, he cut 4-6 pipes and left them open with water sitting in them.
He threatened to stop if I didn't give him my credit card number. I refused and called the owner, Joe.
Joe had promised that the rate of $100/hour would not go longer than 4 hours at which point the problem would be diagnosed and the price for the repair would be offered. This did not happen.
While I was on the phone with Joe, trying to work out an arrangement for the job to be completed, ANGEL DROVE OFF. It was awful and scary.
I had two licensed plumbers come the next day to assess what had taken place and to figure out a game plan. Both stated that the work Angel did was not correct even if the leak had been in my laundry room.
At one point Angel had his drill out and almost convinced me he needed to cut my tile floors. Thank goodness I didn't go along with that because THE LEAK WAS OUTSIDE MY HOME, which is why the hot water was coming out the landscape drain.
Joe insisted that I pay him and we agreed to $340. On top of that, it cost me $650 to have the cut pipes reconnected and destroyed dry wall repaired.
So I paid $990 for JMS plumbing to demolish my walls, disconnect pipes and leave me in a mess. One of the licensed plumbers who came the day after, went right outside and started poking around.

Among the best plumbing companies you'll ever work with. I've owned four houses across many geographies and have experienced lots of plumbing, and no one was easier to work with, easier to communicate with, and more committed to a great final result than JMS.
Any negative reviews are likely from people who had a hard job that they were upset about having to tackle and unrealistic expectations, not a bad plumber. In our case, in the home we were moving into, several bathroom fixtures were no longer working so we knew this was going to be a big project.
Angel used cameras to show us exactly what was happening in our pipes, advised us on the cost impact of doing certain parts of the project all at once vs. one at a time, and all along, helped us make our own choices about what to do.
Once we decided, he did everything he could to save us costs, such as not replacing every fixture, and helping us find plumber-grade materials instead of consumer-grade materials. Where they cut walls to access pipes, the wall repair was completely smooth and ready for repainting.

Joe, owner of JMS Express Plumbing, came out to check the job which was capping off an old sprinkler regulator. He dug down and suggested that capping off below the rusted area would be better in the long run than just at the top of the pipes.
He saw that we needed a gas earthquake shut-off valve and that another regulator was damaged. So he sent Juan and another tech out to work on these plumbing issues the next day.
Juan did an excellent job, cleaned up, showed me the damaged pipe and what he did at the site. He made sure that I understood how all the various valves worked.
Then he saw how an outdoor faucet wasn't working well and and that our sprinkler/water shut-off valve wasn't working. So he checked with his office to see if he could stay and fix them.
Sure we spent more money than initially planned, but it was a pleasure to have everything taken care of, especially the leaking faucet that was plaguing me for way too many years. I would recommend JMS Express Plumbing and would definitely use them again for any plumbing issues JMS is great.

We had some major plumbing problems left by our previous plumber and Joe sent his guy Gabriel to get them resolved. Not only did Gabriel show up Monday morning, but he showed up on time and worked well into the night to get everything right.

They dismantled the old hot water heater housing and removed the previous water heater! They worked diligently throughout the day and completed the work in a timely fashion.
They ran into a problem with the master water valve but replaced the defective part so that the tankless would function flawlessly. Some days later I noticed a gas leak and Juan came right out and fixed it! The company electrician installed a protective box over the exposed outlet for safety! Excellent post installation cleanup! Would recommend this company and their outstanding office staff without reservation! Very happy customers!!! We had a clogged drain 2 weeks ago and JMS came out and cleared it the same day.
The job required a toilet to be removed to get access and then the big rooter machine to unclog the blockage. I recommend the company as they are professional.

They gave a very competitive (lowest) estimate, and even when the job ended up being more complicated than anticipated, they honored their original estimate rather than pushing to cover the extra costs!
