Background: I had purchased a condo in December 2022. There were lots of "old" things in the condo that needed fixing.

At the time, I had homeowners warranty, so I had used that to replace the parts within the toilet. The home inspector had already mentioned at the time that toilets needed replacing at some point.

I only knew that the condos were built in the 1980s. I just didn't want to spend the money if I didn't need to yet! The Call & Quote: Fast forward to May 2024 (about 1.5 years later), one of my toilets finally started leaking again.

I had already decided to just get both toilets replaced. A quick Yelp search, and I found California Plumbing with 5 stars and over 400+ reviews.

A quick call - and they sent someone out fairly quickly to do a quote. *Note - as a female, I totally appreciated that they send a picture of the technician that they are sending to my house*.

I also appreciated that the technician gave me 2 quotes (one for fixing the broken parts and one for replacing toilets all together). The broken parts were antiquated, so it would have taken a while to find without guarantee that it may break again in another 1.5 years or so.

Service: Since I had 2 toilets, I wasn't in a rush to get it replaced that same day or next day (even though California Plumbing offers that service). I just called and made appointment for that following week.

The day of, 2 technicians show up. Toilets were replaced one by one.

They cleaned up everything (threw out the old toilets, swept the floors, etc). No mess was left behind! Cost: Cost of toilets & installation was within the range (based on a Google Search / Forbes Article).

Conclusion: 100% Professional. 100% Recommend.

The previous plumber I hired installed a toilet wrong (2" below the tile), causing a major leak that required an insurance claim! CA Plumbing not only quickly identified the problem, but corrected the installation. The quality work passed inspection by other plumbers, as well as my insurance adjuster.

We were impressed with good professional responses to our first Yelp query for bids from both Aaron (owner) and Lauren (in the office). They made us feel like they wanted our business and were eager to provide good service (in contrast to several other individual plumbers and plumbing companies who either ghosted us or provided incredibly vague estimates and many who would not even provide free estimates...several others wanted to charge $40 to over $100 just for the estimate).

We eventually had 4 plumbers/companies who actually provided solid on-site free in-person estimates after evaluating our project (removal of a sink and replacement with a new one with reinstallation of the fixtures). A couple of others also provided seemingly less complete estimates based on the pictures they asked us to send them.

Efren Diaz was our technician/fully competent plumber who came out (on time, when scheduled) to provide our estimate and he eventually did our work. He was great! In contrast to some of the other plumbers/companies who would wring their hands over one piece or another of our project and make us uncertain about their capability to do the job, Efren was very calm and low key and gave us confidence in his responses to our questions that he fully understood what we thought we needed and his ability to do the work.

Much less drama and angst than we felt like we had to deal with compared to other plumbers/companies. The cost of the estimate Efren provided was not the lowest of the 5 we ultimately seriously considered, but his quote was also far less than the highest bid.

We also appreciated that California Plumbing offered and honored a 10% Military Discount. We had a slight delay (~2 mos.) in actually getting our sink as we had to order and return 5 sinks from Elkay through Home Depot before we actually got the sixth one that was not badly bent.

Lauren let us know that usually their estimates are only good for 30 days, but said she would check with Efren (and maybe Aaron, too?) to see if they would still honor the original quote. They did and we were able to schedule with Efren for the very next day.

Efren arrived on time the day of the installation to do the work and after we briefly reviewed again everything we wanted to have done with the replacement (reattach specific fixtures, include the reverse osmosis line, the main faucet and the air gap, remove a non-functional recirculation pump and an instant hot water reservoir), he got right to work. Again...no muss, no fuss, no drama, just a hard-working plumber doing the work (well!) and solving minor problems as he went along.

He completed the whole job in less than 4 hours, including a conscientious cleanup. Most other plumbers/companies thought it would take them at least 4-6 hours and we had one estimate for 16 hours of labor.

We love our new sink and are grateful to California Plumbing for their professionalism, from Aaron to Lauren and especially to Efren for his strong work and excellent customer service skills. Benji was everything you want in a plumber: prompt, fast, efficient, kind and thorough.

He did a great job explaining what was going on and was very personable. I like him.

I'd recommend him and CA Plumbing for sure. Chico Mancinas and Kristoff did a really great job fixing the pipes for my bathroom and kitchen sinks!!! They also replaced the old and leaking faucet for my bathroom sink.

They were able to quickly ascertain the problems including that the situation with the kitchen sink was because of a small gap between the top of the sink and the countertop. As the sink and countertop are new I'm now getting that fixed from my contractor.

There was no charge in the diagnosis. As for the bathroom sink they were able to clean out the drain and ensure my other bathroom drain also was fine.

The two plumbers who came out were knowledgeable and excelled in communication. A pleasant experience but an unpleasant problem Efren was amazing, on time, great communication, took time to explain multiple options for me, and got the work done so fast.
