I contacted Wyman Plumbing to get an estimate on replacing gas lines that had corroded and were leaking gas. Felicia, the Wyman representative, informed me there would be a 65.00 charge to provide an estimate...what??? I contacted a number of other plumbing companies that provided a free estimate.

Considering Wyman's high customer satisfaction rating, I am guessing charging for estimates is a way of keeping their workload at a more comfortable level. If you read the "From this business" section here on Yelp, Wyman Plumbing states they provide a FREE estimate, I guess that applies to estimates that do not require Wyman Plumbing to drive to the prospective customer's location or invest time to make the estimate.

I was looking for a plumber to fix a leaking shower head and clogged sink drain. I sent some quote requests through Yelp and got a few responses back.

Some of them were outrageous, but I thought Wyman's seemed fair. They also gave me some price ranges based on the outcomes (luckily, it ended up being on the low end of both).

Communication was easy. They texted me to confirm the appointment and when they were on the way.

Doug was very good at talking me through the issues and wore shoe covers to avoid tracking dirt into the house. Payment was easy too as I could pay with cash, credit, or check.

We are remodeling our bathrooms and needed a plumber to run the new shower systems. Our contractor had Wyman come install one.

They gave a quote without asking us, the homeowner, what type of system we purchased. Needless to say, they missed installing the handheld shower valve.

I am not completely sure how this could happen since the instructions are very clear and specific. They scheduled another day to come back and complete the job.

They are charging us by the hour, fine. I was told it should take about a half hour.

The plumber they sent did not know where to put it despite pictures that were sent, and notes written on the wall. Thankfully, it was only a half hour charge.

I understand they need to make money, however, they should have contacted us prior to giving a quote for a job. My invoice says, "install of a shower system provided by the customer." We will not be using them for the other shower system.

Their plumber Daquon pointed out that the main shutoff valve into the house was beyond old and probably shouldn't be touched, we replaced that one too. Wyman's prices are fair, they use quality parts, and their plumbers are friendly, and you can tell they know their stuff.

I called around all the recommended plumbers on yelp and they were VERY expensive. Most of them asked for 300 dollars installation fee.
