Review and analyze now for company Acme Plumbing and provide the analysis in the discussed format for the following reviews: '''Sent the company an online service request Super Bowl Sunday afternoon and received a phone call first thing Monday morning. A team, led by Norval Cunningham, arrived a short time later.
The truck was spotless and the guys were neat. They knew why they were at my home and listened carefully to my concerns.
Norval is obviously a pro. Soft spoken and very knowledgeable, he led his young teammate to address the lift pump maintenance request.
They completed the service and tested the system. I could not be more pleased.
My new go-to plumbers. I discovered a pinhole leak in an old copper pipe on a Friday night at 8 pm.
I immediately shut off the water to the house, cut the power to the water heater (the pipe feeds the heater) and drained the heater. All that needed to be done was cut out the bad section of pipe and replace it.
The heater itself was fine and did not come into play. I found Acme online and contacted them.
They called back Monday, arrived at 3:09, showed me an estimate of $303.11, which I thought was extremely high for the work required but agreed to. They admitted that "most" of it was labor (and didn't give a breakdown).
It was labeled TOTAL with no other information on the tablet I was asked to sign. Here's the breakdown of what I was actually charged: $283.94 Repair 39.00 "All Day" service fee 21.80 taxes $344.74 "real" total, not the other "total".
Note that there is no breakdown of labor and materials on the invoice itself either. They were gone by 4:09.
I was shocked to find later that they'd added their $39 "service call" in addition to over $300 for what should have been 15 minutes' work even for one person, let alone two grown men. (See pictures.) I contacted them two days ago asking if they could waive the fee, and they have not responded.
Do yourselves a favor and find a plumber who charges for his/her time and materials instead of by what some "app" says. Will and Zachary were communicative and professional.
They gave us two quotes to choose from based on the work before performing the services. Zachary was even sweet with our kittyboy, Mork! Great installation, and the cost matched our expectations.
Thanks, y'all! My water heater failed on the Sunday night before Thanksgiving. Since it was an Apollo tank, I also no longer had heat in the house.
I had a previous quote from Dominion Energy as I knew the tank was getting old and I got a quote Monday morning from a plumbing company I had used in the past. I didn't like either quote as both said they would have to provide a tank with less heating capacity.
So I asked Acme Plumbing to take a look at it. After just a few minutes with Alejandro, I could tell that he was an expert in Apollo heating systems.
He said he could get a larger better quality tank than what I had and they could install it on Wednesday. On Wednesday, Clay, Alex and Richard showed up with the tank.
They worked all day on the project and the quality of their work was amazing. Clay did so much work even though he had a broken arm! The piping that Alex did above the tank is a work of art, so much nicer than any installation I'd watched on YouTube.
Alejandro joined them near the end and insulated the pipes to the heating system which I did not expect. They never rushed even though they had probably hoped to leave early on the day before Thanksgiving.
They also noted that there was something wrong with my water pressure and discovered it was 90 PSI. They recommended that I replace the water pressure regulator which I did the following week.
Alex did a beautiful job fitting the copper piping to the new regulator. I strongly recommend that you use Acme Plumbing for any plumbing work you need.
I called ACME on a Wednesday morning around 8:30am for a leaking water heater that had bit the dust after 11yrs. By 10am a crew of two professional men were at my house.
In 15 minutes the project was assessed, quoted, and agreed upon. I gave them the go-ahead to replace with a like-for-like solution and they went on their way.
Due to many of the supply chain shortages it took them a little bit of time to acquire a similar water heater (about 2hrs). Then 3-4 hours after that the replacement was complete.
To summarize I called at 8:30am with a problem and by 4pm they installed a new water heater and were gone. One word, AWESOME! They also use nice customer service tools like the ability to see where they're plumber is on the way to you.
Updated, automated texts messages about scheduling, etc. Lastly, but most important.
The quality of the people that came to replace the water heater was off the charts. My 3yo daughter was at home with the sniffles and was following me around, the two gentlemen were super nice to her.
When I had to go take my son to Tae Kwon Do, we found out that one of them was a 3rd degree black belt and they started talking about TKD for a moment. Friendly, well trained, responsive, plumbers.
What else could you ask for. Hire these guys, they'll do a great job.
It's official. We are loyal to Acme plumbing from now on, thanks to Clay and Norman.
No other plumbing company will set foot in our house because these guys just blew us away with their professionalism, stellar customer service, exceptional expertise about historic homes, and fair pricing. Our century-old iron sewage decided to go on strike back in October, when a literally and figuratively sh*tty acquaintance participating in a multi-household yard sale ravaged at least one jumbo roll of toilet paper for an hours-long diarrheic escapade that would put Mt.
St. Helen's to shame.
My husband managed this and another cleanup on his own to the tune of $500. (Yes, it is a shining testament to my husband's worth that he will wade through a pond of poop for our family.
He's a keeper.) We had two different plumbing companies out since the disaster. Both times, technicians were perplexed, demonstrating beyond a shadow of a doubt that they had no idea what they were talking about; yet each submitted specious proposals with estimates that made my nose bleed.
Finally, we had the sense to call Acme. Speaking with Norman on the phone was the unexpected jewel of my week.
He delivered genuine validation about our trials that warmed my heart. His sense of humor and professionalism helped me feel calmer.
And his honesty and candor inspired trust that I couldn't imagine feeling a) over the phone or b) in my first conversation with someone. Norman listened extremely carefully, and in reflecting back to me the complicated information I conveyed, quickly picked up on the esoteric and challenging nature of our plumbing mystery.
He said he knew just the right plumber to send to our house if we were willing to wait just two more days. Enter Clay and his young assistant.
Clay knows old houses. He's got a sharp intelligence, expansive knowledge, formidable creative problem-solving skills, and some awe-inspiring grit.
Of all the great workers we've had in this old house over the years, we've never been so impressed with a team's GSD attitude and work ethic. After 10 hours of totally disgusting work, he sleuthed out some almost hilariously bad decisions that past owners had made.
They paved a driveway over the original drainage , leaving no clean out access, then circumnavigated the house with about ~300 ft of new piping just to avoid doing the job right the first time to tie into the original line. The world's greatest inspector could never have discovered all this craziness, but Clay's innovative problem solving compelled him to search for the line far away from where anyone would expect to find it.
This is already a long story. Suffice to say that we now have clarity on the issue and a solid plan moving forward.
The cherry on top is that Acme connected us with partners of theirs who consult with clients about how to most effectively present claims to homeowners' insurance. If you despise band aid fixes and wasting money on repairs done by inexperienced tradespeople, learn from our saga.
Get it done right the first time. Pick up the phone, call Acme, and get a legit hero like Clay to come save the day.
Lawrence came in to assess a sewer backup in our basement, diagnosed the problem quickly, and returned with Ephram for the fix. Very professional and courteous.
These guys really know their stuff. Highly recommend.
I called ACME to clean my vent pipe since my toilet was backing up into the tub. The guys came out with all of their equipment and we talked for a good 10 minutes about the issues.
When they found out I had a sand filter septic system they decided to check the septic tank before doing anything else. I never thought to check it since it was just cleaned and inspected about 2 years ago.
Turns out it's full. They gave me excellent advice on how to proceed, gave me some names of companies that could help.
Bill was less than $50 since the auger would be useless. Very trustworthy people.
Extremely nice, very knowledgeable and willing to help. They are my new go-to plumbing service company.
Highly recommend. I used Acme Plumbing when I opened up my studio.
They are very focused, hard working and courteous. I had a lot of work to be done within a short time frame and they were so patient and knowledgeable with me throughout the entire process.
I would highly recommend you call Acme for any and all of your plumbing needs! Thank you to the entire staff at Acme! The work done was fine - no issues with the plumber actually doing the work. He was courteous, efficient, and on time.
The issue is that the estimator told me that the job was very complicated and tedious and that it would take a long time. Because he seemed professional and honest I accepted his bid.
But the job was very simple - replace two tees with unions. It only took 75 minutes on site and less than $20 in parts.
The cost was $575. Plumbers do a difficult job and deserve to get paid well.
And companies deserve to make money. But Acme misrepresents the job to overcharge.
Look at the reviews that are not recommended in the Yelp review page (below the recommended reviews). You'll see the same thing - Acme charging way too much and not caring about their customers concerns.
Stay away. Hired these folks to fix a water leak under one of our toilets.
They sent someone out the same day and had all the parts necessary for a fix right on the truck. Two hours later the leak was fixed for a reasonable amount.
Hopefully we won't need them again too soon but when that day comes, we will definitely call Acme. Btw...
when the plumber left, the room was spotless as he took the time to put down a protective pad and put plastic covering on his shoes. We like the fact that he was so considerate of our home.
I have used Acme for help at both my father's house and my house and I could not be happier with the service I have received. Every time I call in I am greeted by a courteous and kind receptionist who gives my issue her full attention and promptly dispatches a plumber to help.
Acme has helped me resolved problems with the main water gauge, toilets, sinks, and garbage disposals and I have never had to call back about something they previously fixed. After my second time calling them I signed a one-year service contract and now whenever I have a problem they come out for free to diagnose the issue and advise on how to proceed.
In my experience they are very honest with their pricing and are quick to mention if a part can be found cheaper elsewhere. The plumbers are all very respectful and efficient, they did not evade my questions and were extremely knowledgeable on the task at hand.
I felt completely comfortable inviting Acme into our homes and I doubt I will ever call another plumbing company while I am in the area. Talk about a business that gives a bad name to capitalism! My 80 year old grandma called them and they charged her $483 for a job other local plumbers would have done for $128.
I spoke with the GM and said the part cost twenty bucks, they charged her $334, his response was "hey, she called us". Total sharks, they operate ironically under the Benjamin Franklin banner.
Hopefully what goes around comes around. Very poor customer service.
Very rude from the first conversation to the last. Overcharged a Sr citizen on initial repair and, when it didn't work, they refused to come back without charging another service fee.
They claim they replaced thermostats but didn't check to see if their repair worked. They didn't work.
They told her her elements were fine but the thermostats were bad so they replaced them. They didn't even check to see if their shoddy repair worked.
The owner said it takes a while for the heater to heat up the hot water. 24 hours later and still no hot water.
Then they wanted to charge another $1800 to replace the hot water heater. Had this poor lady scared to death.
Manipulated her into buying a service contract. When the owner was contacted he was very rude and took exception to expecting an almost $400.00 repair to work.
All he would do is say that his company has been in business for over 70 years. I would avoid them like the plague.
If they treat a 68 year old lady this way how honest can you say they are?'''.
